Freedom Debt Relief (FDR) was a blessing from beginning to end. I enrolled four debts into the program totaling close to $60,000. FDR negotiated my debts down by 43%. I graduated the program in just 2.5 years, which is 19 months ahead of the estimated graduation date. I accomplished this by making as many additional deposits as I could by working lots of overtime and making sacrifices in budgeting.
My program deposits every two weeks were only $430, but this amount will differ for each person. There was a one-time account set-up fee for only $9. There was a monthly service fee of only $7.25. The NLLG monthly service fee was only $12 (NLLG is the legal protection in case you get sued by a creditor). Each phone or ACH payment to a creditor was only $3. Settlement fees were 15% of each enrolled balance but was only due after an individual debt was negotiated and I agreed to the settlement. These settlement fees were paid in installments or by lump sum, depending mostly on how much money was in my account. Note that all these fees may be slightly different for you depending on your location and other factors.
Overall, the fees were less than 2% of my entire program (not including the settlement fee, which was 15%). Do not let these fees bother you. They are very reasonable. The biggest takeaway from my review should be this: Make sure to stay consistent with your bi-weekly deposit schedule and make additional deposits as much as you can.
I heard of this program from a website, so I contacted a representative for more information and to ask several questions related to the program. The gentleman was helpful and supportive. I told him I would think about the program and get back to him soon. I did some research online to verify any details I could find. I decided to join the program. I had no trouble getting a hold of him and getting everything set up.
I received my welcome guide from FDR. I read through the guide thoroughly to make sure I fully understood the program. I read through the welcome guide more than once during my program, and I read through the frequently asked questions (FAQ) on my FDR dashboard more than once during my program. It is easy to forget a detail or two over time, so I wanted to make sure I kept well-informed about the program and my specific role in it. The guide said the first settlement may take four to six months; I got mine in about two weeks. The guide contained action items, which I made sure to follow exactly.
For example, I added their phone number and text code into my cell phone, I stopped making payments to my creditors, I stayed consistent with my monthly deposits, I kept them up to date on any changes in my life that may be relevant to the program, and I sent them any notices I received of my debts being sold to collectors. I was out of work for a short time, so I informed them when I was out of work and informed them when I got a new job. It is important to read those action items and be sure to follow them to ensure your best chance at success with the program.
I do not remember the exact count, but I contacted FDR by phone or live chat at least three or four times. The representatives answered my questions immediately, sufficiently, and kindly. If you need to cancel a scheduled deposit, make sure to call at least a couple of days before the deposit is scheduled. In one conversation, I was told my bi-weekly deposits would continue until all my debts were fully resolved, meaning the final payments have cleared both banks. Do not be surprised if you have graduated the program, but your deposits are still happening. Mine were refunded to me within three days or so once all transactions were cleared. I am greatly pleased and full of gratitude for this program and for the individuals in FDR who helped me to reach financial freedom. Thank you for your due diligence. I’m almost done with paying everything off and everything is great. Freedom Debt Relief really helped me ‘cause I didn’t know how this credit thing works. Now that I’m working on fixing it, my credit has dropped. Their payment plan really helped me a lot. I was able to pay for it every month.

I found Freedom Debt Relief online and their reviews. And then I initially called them and spoke with an agent who was very helpful. When you’re in this type of situation, it’s very embarrassing because you got yourself in a pickle and things are so bad that you’re embarrassed. Here you are, an adult, you’re supposed to be responsible and you get yourself into a mess. The agent made me feel comfortable talking to her about it. That’s the biggest thing that made me decide to go with them. She explained everything and told me what to do with ease. That was five years ago and I still remember the call experience was excellent.
It takes a while before some of the debts get settled. We’re talking months, not years, by the time you have to get everything together, and by the time they look at it, and you have to start building up some cash so they have money that they got in their possession so they could start negotiating the debts. They just can’t go half ass at it and start calling people up and start to negotiate. And the people would say, “Okay. We’ll knock off x-amount of dollars and we want $100 a month.” “Well, we don’t have $100 a month.” “So, why are you calling me then?” You got attorneys involved, they have attorneys on staff, I pay x-amount of dollars, very cheap. It's 20 bucks a month to have attorneys there, on hand if there’s an issue. So, they’re very efficient.
There were times that I’ve had some issues going on that I couldn’t make my monthly installment, but it’s your money and you’re banking it. I was putting a ton of cash into that first and then my financial situation changed and they were willing to take a look at it. I was panicking. I got these installments going out to these people. These creditors expect those payments and you messed up on that, and then they can call the whole thing off and they go back to the original debt. So, if you settled a debt for $2,000, you may have to go back if you don’t keep paying. You have to make that installment cash to them every month.
And when my circumstances changed, I called them up and luckily, they had enough that I paid off, and enough in their so-called bank, it’s in my account, that I could change my dollar amount and they made me feel comfortable about it. They told me not worry and assured me it would work. There have been times where these things that happened like things are going on right now. “Listen guys, I’m kinda tight.” They would say, “Okay. We’ll skip a couple months and you start back up in June.” “Great. Excellent.” “You got enough in your account to cover what you’re going now.” I would highly recommend them.

I am very pleased with FDR. they are doing just what I was told when I signed up. I did refer a friend several months ago but have not received the amount for referring someone. I have to say I had my doubts about signing up with FDR but it was the best thing for me and FDR has not dropped the ball. WELL DONE.

Signing up with Freedom was relatively easy and straightforward. Customer service has been helpful. Within six months, I started to see some debts get settled. I still have three pending accounts that have not yet been settled but I’m going into two years into the program so I’m still in the middle of limbo. I have mixed feelings still in doing the program but at the same time, I wish it will go faster in getting settled for all the companies. But because there is not enough money on a monthly basis, Freedom cannot have that okay on my behalf. They need to get more money in in order to negotiate the debt with those companies so it’s understandable.
But my credit is hurting because it’s been two years and I still have a bad credit because of the same reason that Freedom hasn't yet settled certain accounts that continue to report as delinquent or past due. I haven't been able to do anything about it and that’s the only sort of pushback that I have with trying to get out of this. I can’t even do credit yet because I’m still in this hold until Freedom is able to make settlements so that way, the companies don’t continue reporting to the credit bureaus. I know a lot of people are going through the same issues as I’m going especially during these dark times. If they ask me, I will just say I'm working Freedom. But people don’t talk about their finances openly because that’s sort of something personal.

I am very pleased with my first settlement. Freedom was able to get it down 50% of what I owe. This is a very huge relief for me! The first creditor they got a settlement with is the one I worried about the most.

So far I have been pleased with the service. I only didnt understand why some low card balances were not done asap, rather than the one large one. I would recommend FRD however. I would also have liked another way to handle the creditors once I talked to them to let them know I was enrolled.

We needed to temporarily adjust our monthly deposits due to virus loss of income. Agent was helpful and understanding and we reached agreement on what would be done for the upcoming month. He carefully explained the options and got approval.

FDR has been very helpful and efficient with providing help with my credit card debts. The debts were resolved for a good bit less than I owed, and even if with the fees I ended up owing a little less than originally owed to. My credit card companies. The collection calls stopped and the finance charges ceased which were all great things for peace of. Mind.

Freedom Debt Relief is ripping me off, but I’m too far in it to go back out, so I might as well just finish it. I haven’t seen progress with my credit union, State Employees, and that was my highest one. I don't know why they didn't do that one first. I don't like how they run their business. Whatever your debt is, when you start, to me, they let it get higher. Also, you're still responsible for paying the other fees that they added to it. And then, if they settle and get an agreement, then you still gotta pay them. So, why am I paying them when I’m in a program and they let it get high? I know the credit union is higher than what I started off with. And then, I didn’t know that I could get sued and have to go to court. But then, the lawyer-side took care of that.
My brother went to this program and he recommended it to me. So, I joined it. In the beginning, I did recommend people, telling them my brother said it was good, but I would not recommend anybody to do it that way. I wouldn’t even go that route again. I don't care how they get their people to talk to people, but they're ripping people off. I had paid my debt off plenty of times, but I got over my head this time and I thought I needed help. But the way that it’s going, I could have done it by myself again. Also, with this COVID stuff going on, and with everybody else giving people a break, they should be trying to give us a break.

The enrollment process with Freedom Debt Relief was easy. But I don’t have an easy time accessing the dashboard. It would be easier for me if I received an email. The program is for credit card debt and the timeline is four years and I'm almost halfway through. I’m only paying $100 every two weeks instead of $300 or $400 and I like that my bills are being paid.

I came to FDR after medical bills ruined my finances and thought they would help. I was a single parent and every dollar mattered and our money didn’t cover the bills. After signing up, FDR resolved two accounts quickly. Then nothing happened for several years EXCEPT I was sued. Four times. The last time was for one of the accounts I thought was settled. FDR just kept the money. In the end they had over $6000 of my money they needed to return. The paid legal services did not help once. They’re very good at finding ways that they cannot help you. If you are in need of help, I would NEVER suggest freedom debt relief. Again they had money for years that they said they settled and gave to my creditor.

I’m happy that I found a plan that is helping me renegotiate my debt and get it paid off. The only thing I don’t like is the fees which I believe are too high when a client is trying to lower the bills they have.

I was searching for some debt relief programs and Freedom Debt Relief was the best one off the internet. They sounded like the best program for me. I didn't have to have any money upfront. They worked with what I had. They gathered up what bills I have and worked with the creditors to try to get a resolution on my debts. And they set me up on a dedicated account, and I put money in each month and I put a certain amount in it. They use that money to pay my debtors each month. They were good. I was fine with it. I was saving money a month off of what I was having to pay to the creditors, so it worked out for me. It’s freed up enough money a month to where I was able to pay down some other bills that I was paying on. And it’s really eased up the stress that I was having trying to come up with the money to pay everybody.

Updated on 05/28/2021: I felt supported all the time I worked through the program. My creditors, for the most part, responded well to my use of Freedom Debt Relief as my way of ending the debt I owed. When they didn't, FDR was there for me including for the one that sued instead of cooperating. It did tell me what credit offering companies I'd ever consider again. I've learned a lot and got my affairs in better order. The only credit I used during this time was my gas card which allowed me to build some credit by paying it regularly as it allowed credit within the amount that I'd paid and a bit more. I'm now at the place that I'll likely pay off that card every month or nearly so.
Thank you Freedom Debt Relief for the wonderful support when I was called by one or the other of two creditors and who has gotten me to the place they are all paid off.. All the support team I called over these several years have been supportive and helpful. Original Review: I like the dashboard. I try to get to it. I try to go to places and I very carefully got a decent password and then I put it in, but it doesn’t work and I have to go through the process of changing it. I always growl about it. Maybe, sometimes I may miss something. I try to and I get too discouraged. They tell you they will send you an email so you can do that and my email is not that fast. So, by the time I get it, they say, “No. It’s out of date.” But other than that, so far, the payment plan is working very well.
I had to call the reps every day. They are encouraging and sometimes, I needed it during this time. I got a bit of pressure from one creditor. They sued and had the attorneys involved and they wanted me to put more in my account monthly. And I'm getting things settled out. So, in a couple of months I may be able to raise it a little bit. But you have bills that you’d have to get to and I’ve got it to now so that I don’t have any credit cards. My gas card is the only one I'm keeping. Now that I got all the credit cards out, I'm going to just do a cash basis. Give me another month or two to get that straightened. I finally got all of that.
I was holding on to Chase for a while and then finally I was asked to put them in. And Chase hasn’t given up yet so I have to do a bit of communicating with them. I keep getting a reminder to pay the bill and I had sent something in the mail to them but it hasn’t reached them. I have a letter to Freedom to make sure it says the right thing and I just asked them to change my address to Freedom’s address and said they’re the ones that are dealing with it. And the people that are tasked with sending out this email, probably are not being contacted. They’re dealing with it and I appreciated their email thing deleted because I'm not going to respond to them.
I feel delighted. It’s a great relief. When I get those emails, I’m not even as concerned about them. I'm getting a monthly one from Travis and I see they’re being more at risk now too, and they wanted to be contacted and I had told them that Freedom Debt Relief is handling it and they haven’t been contacted. But I'm sure that they must’ve been now because I'm not hearing from them. My creditors have been excellent all this time. It’s just that I was in a place where I didn’t have money left to do anything for me when I paid all the payments. You can pay those payments but don’t get anywhere on as far as your debt is concerned.

This is a great company! They did as they said they were going to do. Every time I've had a question it got answered by friendly employees. The only thing I have a problem with is the dashboard. Every time I try to go into it, I have to go through the process of resetting my password.

Freedom Debt Relief has helped me with lots of creditors and their customer service has always been great. I feel comfortable with their payment plan for me and they have been very helpful. I like that I have one payment in a month instead of seven. Being with FDR has been a relief for me.

Most of the companies that I talked to would talk a good game up to a certain point, and then they all would be, “We can’t do that. No. No. We can’t do that.” And when I got in touch with Freedom, the rep said, “We can do that. We can do that.” So, that was an easy choice. However, every time since it all has gone over to the loan thing, I’ve tried getting on that site and it kept telling me there’s an error. I tried calling them and I got this thing that says, “Everybody’s busy right now. Why don’t you try calling when we’re not so busy?” But then, they don’t say what times they're usually open. I’ve tried morning, around noon there, and early evening before I figured they would be closed. I got the same thing every time. But Freedom is never a problem. They text me, send me an email, and then I go to the dashboard, and it was all right there. Also, anytime that I dealt with them, it has been excellent. They’re very helpful.

I found Freedom Debt Relief after I lost my job, got retired and my debts became too much for me. The consultant I worked with was very professional and helpful. That really encouraged me to join and I went with them. We negotiated an amount and they gave me a payment plan. I like the amount I'm paying so far. It's very affordable and I'm comfortable with it. Freedom Debt Relief was recommended by my coworker when he was almost done with his consolidation with them. He was raving that it was fast and easy. You just give them your credit cards and they would work it out for you. I’ve been on the program for a year and a half and my ending would approximately be 2022. I have a direct withdrawal for FDR every 20th of the month for $500 and I’ve emailed them a few times. I was trying to lower my payment every month because my hours has been cut. I don't know who to reach. I’ve left messages three times to this guy who helped me gather all the information with my credit cards but it just went straight to voicemail. They left messages but we’ve never had a call back. If he could have called me, I would hear a message from him through voicemail but there was none.
Before, it was easy. If I get a letter, I’ll just have to fax it to the guy and then, he would work on it. I’ve done that three times. I tried to email and I got the same answer. It’s an automated email telling me to try to call a number. But every time I call, nobody’s answering me. So, I don't know if they're cut hours too, which could be why nobody’s picking up the phone. They emailed me saying that it’s gonna prolong my program if I’m gonna lessen my monthly deductions. If I could get it to $400, that would be a help. I don't wanna do it but I’d rather have it long than be short because I have short hours at work. After the monthly deduction, I wasn’t able to get a hold of anybody, so they took out the $500 on the 20th.

Frankly I can't be anymore disappointed than I am right now. After all this time I have come down to the last account, I have 9,000$ sitting in my account, I have a wife out of work due to this Covid-19 crap, you guys keep BSing me about what has to happen to settle this account, I have called the last account holder and they gave the information and I gave it to you, still nothing. You guys apparently are making interest of my money or else you would be jumping at the chance to settle this. I want this settled ASAP and I want the remainder and after waiting this long and going through this much grief that remainder better be a good one. Freedom Debt Relief is good but the settlement and how much they pay is sometimes confusing. Every month, I deposit the amount and they’re charging me. So, I don’t know if they’re taking more out. But their rep said that they were taking a lot of interest. He explained it to me. So, that’s good. I've had one settlement which is not bad but it’s taking so long.

The program I’m set up with on Freedom Debt Relief has been a Godsend. My husband became ill and his progression got worse fast and we had medical bills piling up in addition to our normal debt. The attorney for FDR terminated his services with me 2 days before court for lack of communication which is BS. I called FDR 3 times for help, it's being looked into. I called the opposing attorney myself, he's not had any communication from FDR. Court date moved to July 29th. I need to get this resolved before court date.

The initial timeframe I was given has stretched years past. If you do the math, with the fees they charge, I will have paid back every single dollar I owed when I signed up. I saved nothing but interest and I could have saved that by negotiating with my creditors directly. I couldn’t be more angry with myself for doing business with FDR. You are better off negotiating directly with your creditors and saving yourself thousands of dollars in FDR fees!

The progress has been okay but right now, it kind of sucks because there's nothing I can do. Before, I was working and I was able to make the payments. Now, I'm in a special situation and it doesn’t seem like anybody wants to help. I'm out of work because of the COVID and everything I make right now, like in appointments, has to go to Freedom Debt Relief. So I really can't pay anything else and FDR hasn't been able to help me in that form. It's clear-cut for everybody to just say that I owe them then it's like, “Okay. I'm just gonna give you everything I have.” I don’t even know how long we're gonna be able to receive an appointment. Once that stops, then I'm totally screwed.
I'm also worried about last month. I knew I was gonna be late on an initial payment and I told them I was gonna be late. I had just gotten laid off when COVID was just happening and. I didn’t have money and an appointment hadn't kicked in yet. As soon that kicked in and I got my final check from one of my jobs, I was able to put it towards Freedom Debt Relief. That money went in but because I missed that one payment, one of the companies I'm supposed to be paying back went back into renegotiations. That $1,200 is not accounted for though. I don't know what Freedom did with that.

It took several phone calls to get someone to answer as a if a fax had been received. Finally getting to speak with an agent, and then the fax had not been posted. Hoping when I call back, it will be a different story.

The customer service rep I believe his name was Deidrick was one of the nastiest, most argumentative persons I have ever encountered. He could not answer questions and was more like a debt collector, practically bullying me. All other reps I had over the years have been wonderful but this man needs a reprimand or retraining.

I am pleased with the overall result of the experience. I entered the program with 9 debt accounts and completed the program earlier than anticipated. I proceeded to resolve one account through the program because it was litigated then worked with my creditors for the other 8 accounts to make settlement arrangements. As of May 2020, I will have eliminated 100% of approximately $50K in debt. Grateful to be debt free and learned a lot about managing my expenses and credit card purchases.

Ronnie just left me hanging for over a hour on hold. He did nothing we talked about. Kept blaming supervisors for the wait. It is almost impossible to speak to a representative. They also sent me a settlement offer, know that I already had a lawsuit settlement in place. This caused my funds for the lawsuit to be used and is costing me more money out of pocket. They knew the money in my account was already spoken for and pushed another settlement ahead of it

I developed congestive heart failure. I’m in my 60s and I knew that I was not going to have the luxury of time to pay off my debt. Also, I don't believe in bankruptcy. I believe that if you're charged something, you’re committed to paying it. So, I looked at being able to pay off the most I could. I called Freedom Debt Relief and I spent an hour on the phone, going over different options with me, going through all my bills and how long it would take, and how much it would cost. They were very transparent and told me about how much they would be able to reduce the amount. And so far, they’ve been spot-on. They’ve been able to reduce the debt down significantly.
I’ve been with Freedom for two and a half years now, and each time that I had questions, I called them. They're available and they don't seem to be irritated or trying to get off the phone as quickly as they could. They take the time to process it through with me. They make very good notes in reference to my account. When I call them, they know exactly what’s going on and I don't have to reinvent the wheel.
The first settlement that I got was only about three months after I started. There was another one about six months later. And then, I had a couple that came together in the fall. And right now, I have two left. I wish they could show a progression on their dashboard. If you raised your contribution this amount, it would pay your bills off in this amount of time, which is your projected graduation date. Because I’ve increased mine, but each time, I called them and had to ask them how much earlier am I going to be able to resolve this if I bump it up. If they had a kind of a graph that says, “Hey, if you bump it up $50…” I know everybody’s different but it would be nice if you just had a guesstimate.

All credit card balances are being negotiated to come to an alternative payment plan. X amount of $ is pd/withdrawn monthly to pay these negotiated amounts. Ultimately, in a predictably and accurately planned amount of time these debts are paid. These precessions causes a low credit rating for a long period of time and limits one's ability to get credit or loans of any kind.

Customer service agents are very kind, but I am disappointed in the fact that each month I have to call about lowering my monthly payments. I am sure you can appreciate at this time it is very difficult with finances. I wish that the monthly payment I requested could just roll over without me having to call each month.

The consultants are helpful. Every time I had a question, they helped me out so I'm happy with it. My credit score is going up a little bit more now and in terms of progress, Freedom Debt Relief sends me emails. But I don’t know how to do anything about the dashboard so I just wait until they send me texts, regarding going ahead and accepting what they're doing and I accept. I'd rather talk to them in person compared to using the dashboard.
$243 is automatically deducted from my checking and I was about to call them because I know it's every 30th of the month. With these times that are going right now, it's gonna be hard for me to give that payment. I don't know if they're still gonna take it or not, and if I'm gonna be negative or are they gonna go ahead and let me skip a month then just add a month to my contract. But my daughter-in-law is interested in doing the program too. She ran into debt and she used to work 80 hours but now, she's working 10 to 20 hours. She's very worried of how she's gonna start making her payments so I spoke to her about this.

For over the last 3 months that I have been contacting different FDR representatives which each has been giving the run around and providing broken promises with the intent of continuing to charge me extra fees on a monthly basis. I have provided the necessary funds to pay off my last debt and continue to be charged on a monthly basis extra funds just to cover extra fees of FDR. This is after I have pay them an average of 40-65% of the negotiated reduction of my debts a total in settlement fees of $10,215.66. It is incredible that after paying over $10K, they are still trying to drain more money from me.
I have contacted the bank to ensure they were willing to receive the early payment. Even with this FDR after 3 months refuses to make the final payment. I feel that this is a simple way of ripping me off after earning over $10K in fees. I hope that someone finally acts accordingly and with the right level of integrity. I was happy at first and didn't care of the high fees but now that I see that they are trying to take advantage of charging even more fees by not settling the final debt... Feeling very disappointed of Freedom Debt Relief program!!! Watch yourself!!!

I received a email from you concerning a settlement and I was confused about the payment made to them. I agreed with your agent to the terms of the settlement but was wondering why a offer which was made some time ago wasn't processed first (Wells Fargo) before this one was paid. I am happy that you settled the larger debt which was a credit union but you did not advise me before you made your decision. In other words, I was not advised if I had a choice of the two outstanding debts.

I've heard from many people and friends, that Freedom Debt Relief is a good company. When I spoke to them, I thought that it was the best option that I have to settle all my credit cards. The rep was very good and very helpful, like any questions I had, I felt comfortable with the answers that he gave me. The payment plan was good. I told them my financial problems that I had, and I told them how much I earn and how much more or less I will be able to pay monthly, so they came up with something that was convenient for me. It's been pretty good so far.

The woman I spoke with was very helpful, polite, etc. She did her best to find out where my last case stands. I really need to have this settled as soon as possible/practical. The money which is going to my account there twice a month would be a huge help in getting through this pandemic business if I could retain that $$. Some stuff on my dashboard is incorrect, I was told if I did the program bi-weekly I would could shave off 3 and a half months but that seems to not be true. They seem to really take their time getting settlements.

We’ve been with Freedom Debt Relief for almost two years and we’re down to only three that we need to get negotiated on. We started out with 19 so that’s a good progress. We're very happy. When I call, if the reps don’t know the answer, they find somebody who does. It’s great having the dashboard to look at. I'm always getting my advisories but I always go there because if there's a notification, you don't know unless you check every day. I'm always disappointed if my computer goes down and I have to hurry up and find somebody to get it going so that I can get back in there.
There is only one thing that bothers me. Our money is always there on the 15th of every month and I don't like the idea it can be 72 hours before I see that my money is in that account on Freedom Debt. I wish they could do that a little quicker because the money is there waiting for you. They told me they look at the accounts once a week. With some people, you have to make sure their money is there and that was one thing that we were very adamant about that. We make sure that money is in there because we want something done. Within 24 hours, it should show up on my dashboard but a lot of times, it doesn't. Right now, I understand. I'm sure they're shorthanded.

I just found out about the "Monthly Service Fees" and the "Account Setup Fees" that was taken from my Direct Deposit, and quite frankly I'm not happy with this at all. Why didn't anyone tell me there would be fees here as well?

Freedom has been a great experience. I would recommend them to anyone having financial difficulty. They always answer the telephone and are willing to work with any problem you may have. If I receive a collection letter from a debtor I just send a copy via email and I always get a response.

I could not be more pleased with any company. Freedom Debt Relief is doing a great job of cutting my debt down quickly and settling my accounts for much less than the original account meaning I will pay these off at a much faster pace. I really liked the little guy, Peter, that signed me up. He was very helpful and explained the program pretty well. I’ve been paying $420 into it every month. It’d be the third year in January. In December, it’ll be my 36th payment. People can explain stuff but to see if it happens like that is another thing. By the end of this year, if I’m cleared of everything, it will be that it’s done exactly what Peter said. I felt pretty good about it so far. My credit score went way down and it has begun to come back up. I’m hitting right at 700 again.
