Freedom Debt Relief gave me a straight payment plan which I didn't like. I thought the payment would be a little bit lower than what I am paying, and I don't remember them giving me any choices of years. They can do a better job on getting a little bit lower on the credit card. I thought my Capital One account was a little rough on two years of paying, and that's the one that's gonna hurt the most. If I had extra, I always pay extra to kind of build my account up. But now, I'm out of work and I'm paying $266 a month. I've always wanted to pay extra constantly, but it's hard.
Other than that, their customer support has been pretty good so far, and no bill collectors are harassing me. I sent off other notices to Freedom that my credit card people are sending me on the payoff balance. And the payoff was pretty reasonable. It was way lower than half. Freedom called them and set up a deal to take that payment plan. I'd recommend them to a friend.

Great response to questions ask. Then a settlement later in the morning. More comfortable with where we are at. Have never been accepted with compassion concerning a debt. Customer service was very knowledgeable for all questions ask. Have recommended Freedom Debt Relief to a friend.

I was pretty happy up until the fiasco with Discover. In the future, I would advise you to really discourage people to sign up with you if they have Discover accounts. The law group that you use is terrible. Not good at getting back to people, confusing with some of their correspondence and treat people like just "a number". On the flip side, I will say that all the people I talk with at FDR are amazing. Great customer service and talk to clients like real people.

I was adamant at first to seek help with FDR, but on my first call to them after the consultant explained to me the process and benefits, I know I made the right call and decision to have them assist me with my credit burden. Throughout the process there's always someone helping me in every step of the way, explaining me details and assuring me that they will continue to help and guide me. I asked if I could talk to the one account creditor about settling debt and was told I could. When I called the creditor they would not speak with me cause Freedom is my power of attorney and they would not speak with me. I was given the wrong information by one of your customer service reps. Updated on 02/07/2021: I've been satisfied with Freedom. They’re working on my last debt. I had been with Freedom for three years and they had told me everything would be solved in 48 months. But the lady I talked to said something about 30 more payments. When they called to know if I agreed to that, I said I didn't. I was totally disappointed in that. I told her that I didn’t think it was supposed to be that many. Then she explained to me that there was 3,000 and something in reserve and that a lot of times, when it got closure, that they would try to solve it with that place for a smaller amount. So that's what I'm hoping for. Other than that, working with them has helped me out a lot. They've notified me every time I've settled something. They’ve asked if I could pay more but I couldn’t pay any more.
Original Review: Freedom Debt Relief has really worked hard to help me to get my pay offs lowered.. They are a great company to work with. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that needs help getting credit card bills paid off, they will work with you to find a solution you can afford.

Happy to say that FDR has done everything they said they would do... One thing I didn't like was on the referral program I was not told of the 90 day period and even after that I still had to call serveral times to get it... What I should of got in March... I am still waiting... I doubt I would have ever gotten it had I not called repeatedly... Needs to be addressed and customer should be told upfront of waiting period...

I was having a lot of financial credit debt. I've called multiple companies and Freedom Debt Relief's sales pitch is what got me. The way they explained it to me wasn’t like the other companies. They pay your debt up with the money in the account that you set up, and they'll negotiate with the creditors. They get all your information and say how much you have to give in order to pay off the amount you owe off in this amount of years. The beginning process was great but once they got my business, it was terrible.
I haven't spoken to someone from Freedom in a long time. I get text messages to tell me that they've worked out this account for me and ask if I'll accept it. But I've kept everything from my last bill and the letters that I've sent to all the creditors when I asked them to close the account, and they're saving maybe 50 bucks on some accounts. It showed that they were saving me 40% because they destroyed my credit. They make it go to collections. They let it get that bad before they start negotiations with the creditors. So, I went from never missing a payment even though I was in debt to missing payments sometimes for 18 months. They did not explain that to me.
Freedom Debt Relief also told me that they had lawyers if the creditors ever took me to court. They said that if I paid this fee monthly, they would represent me. But then the one time that I was taken to litigation, I had to represent and negotiate a deal myself because they claimed that I was supposed to notify them within 48 hours, which I did. But they didn’t tell me that I was supposed to contact the attorney’s office directly and not Freedom. So, it has been miserable. I've been with them for a little over two years. I negotiated three of the accounts and one went into litigation, and I had to negotiate that one as well. I wouldn’t recommend Freedom to anybody and I let people know exactly what my experience was.

Over a year ago I was drowning in credit card debt. I was very sure that I could handle this on my own. I tried several lending banks and credit unions trying to get all of my bills under one hat, and everyone I tried told me the same thing "you have too much debt". I receive a flyer in the mail from Heather, and she refer me to Freedom. I was very very reluctant to hand over my debt. I felt like I was losing a big part of myself. It has been a year now and they have been doing great things with paying my creditors. I have already recommend my niece and they are doing great things for her also. I wanted to write a brief review on Freedom Debt, because it was so simple and seamless. After a Divorce two years ago I have not be able to get with these credit cards to make a difference in the balances the interest was eating me alive! I WAS super worried about it affecting my credit!! I will have to say the sick pains in my stomach are gone. I have a regular monthly payment and in 4 years my debt will be paid. I think this has been an outstanding decision on my part and the paperwork is super easy. The employees are super educated in what to help you with and I would say go for it if debt is eating you alive.

I feel very comfortable, I do question why there is almost a 300.00 fee for settling with Goodyear, I recently received a letter from Goodyear they were willing to settle for a little more than 400.00 and no fee. I thought I was having so much of my biweekly amount that you take as a fee. I just was surprised that there is such an expensive fee. Does that go directly to your agency?

Updated on 07/22/2022: I would recommend FDR to anyone struggling at having difficulty with their finances. They are very friendly and helpful getting you in right direction. The staff are all friendly. I have been in the program two years plus. I am very pleased with outcome so far and have had no major issues with any of my creditors.

I was contacted by Simply Path for a consolidation loan. They said I didn't qualify, but they had another program I could get into with Freedom Debt. I have been paying into an account for 6 months now and they have done nothing. My score has gone from 680 to 553. I have had available credit taken from me because of my credit report since I enrolled. This program has done a lot of damage to my credit report. Six months is a long time to have got nothing done!

Updated on 01/22/2020: Working with FDR has given me some freedom from worrying about the payment of all of my debts. They have kept their end of the bargain, and have settled four of my debts at this point. I'm on a roll and keeping up with what they said they would do, which I appreciate.

I received a threatening call about Capital One back. I am just surprised that I have been in the program for 15 months and Capital One has not been contacted yet, and there has been no payment sent to them, and meanwhile I have a mediator calling me and threatening to put me in jail.

I got hurt and got laid off and I couldn't manage anymore. I have credit card debt and I'm on permanent disability now and on a fixed income. I got tired of all the phone calls and just wanted something to get my debt behind me. I talked to a bankrupt attorney and I didn't have enough debt. It wasn't justifiable to even file a bankruptcy because of my situation and my income is disability and I don't pay taxes.
Some guy from Freedom Debt Relief kept calling me. I've been in and out of programs just because of my income, and I had to stop it and start it again. But the guy was really nice on the phone and helpful. I'm impressed with his knowledge and just the fact that he didn't give up. He took the time for me to get through it and get started. He told me, "If they keep calling you, just tell them what to do." and walked me through me that. The credit card companies call my phone. One time, they asked me who was helping me and I told them it was none their business and hung up.
Freedom Debt Relief's service is excellent. One time, they took a payment out and granted it was only a couple hundred dollars, I didn't have the money in the account and I was freaking out. They got it right back to me I didn't get hit with any penalties from the bank. Freedom Debt Relief couldn't have been any better. I'm really hoping I'm gonna be done with the program soon.

I am happy that 50% of my debt has been negotiated and started payment on. But I do wish that communication would have stayed consistent during the process. I called several times to get updates and generalized understanding of the process. The call center staff did not seem very educated on the process other than simple feedback (you just have to wait) answers.

I had a question on the payment schedule for one of my creditors. The agent spoke with me through the chat feature. I wasn't satisfied with his answer and he abruptly disconnected the chat without giving me a clear response. His name was Pepper. I am considering cancelling my service with FDR because of this.

It disturbs me I have been with Freedom's program over a year and I found out recently that Freedom has never once made any contact with two of my debtors. One of those called me to court. I missed it because I did not know anything about them suing me & taking me to court. If only Freedom had contacted them & explained to them I was in your program this would not have gotten so far out of hand. At least the knowledge would have prevented this problem. I have several lawyers calling me & writing me wanting to defend me against the lawsuit. Good god, that’s how I found out I even got one. I’m so disappointed about this. As far as the other negotiations & settlements I’m happy with that outcome. That I’m thankful for. Michele.

All of my phone experiences except one have been excellent. My main complaint is the new account summary. It was helpful to see the progress on each account by payment. That was not a good change for me. It is also difficult to make one time payments online. I have not yet figured that out.

Been great. I got served with a summons on one of my accounts. I called the first day after the Holiday (Memorial Day) and was immediately assigned a Client Intake Coordinator (Ms. Karla **). Updated on 10/16/2021: I had four debts. They paid off three of them and they’re working on the last one now. I also save about $400 a month by working with them.
Original: They are very helpful and explain the process with me and made it easy for me to sign up with them. I have 4 settlements with them. 1 is already being taken care of. It did not take long for the first settlement. My graduating date is December 2022 and 1 is already done. It’s great.

I signed up with FDR in 2016 and had problems from the beginning. I decided this was not the program for me and cancelled, but not before they took over $2,000 from my account. I have called numerous times and sent many letters trying to get a refund. I have been blown off and treated rudely by the staff, I’m sure who hope I will give up and go away. They have lied to me about payments made and told me if I want my refund to get a lawyer. I notice on their website they list customer reviews from various sites, but they only pick 5 star reviews from each site. I have gone with another program, National Debt Relief, who treat their customers with respect. Don’t use Freedom Debt Relief!

I called in needing to put my payments on hold and also possibly withdraw some cash from my balance that I had. The representative was extremely empathetic and understanding of my situation and really helped me. I had called in expecting to cancel the program because I did not think there were any temporary options, but the representative explained my options and I was able to stay enrolled in the program.

Updated on 08/27/2020: I was very comfortable with making my decision on going with Freedom Debt. They were very informative, polite, and not judgmental at all. Zac got me all hooked up with this and then it was him again that I talked to when I got to do a loan so that my debt could get paid off faster. I would just have the one to pay the loan back. It's been a couple of months now that I set that up and I'm really impressed with how fast it's going now.

There were no hidden surprises and I felt comfortable working with him. Also, they did amazing on my payment plan. I have been enrolled in the program for 10 months, and have been able to reduced my debt in over USD $11K or more than 25% of my debt (including my top 2 credit card providers), their dashboard is very effective, efficient and easy to follow. The FDR members seem to be working 24/7 as I have been communicated of settlements even on weekends at evening hours. I reached out to you for one addition because somehow that creditor was missed. I've been on time with every payment to you every month, yet you couldn't even add one (small unintended left out account) without asking for half of that money upfront. So I called the legal company representing the creditor and they were willing to work with me...I'm just very disappointed in FDR.

We are committed to NOT missing a structured payment. However, unexpectedly, we have had some financial distress. I missed a full work week for example, and we had unexpected repair and health care bills. FDR has been wonderful in working with us and letting us adjust our debits to our savings account while carefully calculating to assure no payments were missed. Their ability to work with us this way has reduced stress and anxiety tremendously and I continue to be committed to this program and eventual graduation.

Being sick, disabled and in debt is a hardship I would not wish on anyone. I'm just beginning my program with FDR and have been very impressed so far. I just got my first creditor call for a late payment this evening and I relayed all the info given to me regarding address and phone number. I should be getting more of these notices, now. So far, we have been very pleased with the assistance we have gotten from FDR in resolving our credit card debt. Finding ourselves drowning in debt with the cards and interest, it was a wonderful relief to find a way out with FDR's assistance. We established a plan with FDR, stuck to it, and now have a settlement agreed with the first of the two creditors. It will still take some time but we are looking forward to getting an agreement on the other debt, continuing to pay it out and getting a chance to then rebuild our credit.

Character field need to increase beyond 200. Because of this, please refer to my file or contact me. Current events have sealed the 1 star rating. In July 2017, I was NOT in collections. I was advised by FDR to leave this specific (but nameless here) creditor layout of the 6 accounts. Nov 2018, I was requested to provide a Hardship Financial statement for this creditor.
April 2019, I received, and forwarded a court summons to FDR. April 2019, I was requested AGAIN, to complete a Hardship Financial statement. Between issues w/ FDR, then Nat'l Lit (Melanie, Chelsey **, and Katrina **, I have been constantly reminded that if I'm not timely "... may result in NLLG not representing me." I have been timely with every request). Today, I verbally informed Nat'l Lit that the settlement papers they prepared were INCORRECT. I rceived a corrected version, still INCORRECT. Why do I have a summons? Why is there the badgering of timeliness? Where is the quality review? These 2 companies are 1 entity to me as the customer.

I spoke with an excellent representative of FDR; however, after FAXing a 25 page document and contacting the National Law Group because of the short time frame for getting information to them, I was told it would take 2 days before they would verify they received the FAX even though I have the proof sheet saying it went through. Tomorrow is the 2nd day and I'm hoping the money spent for them will cover me since they aren't responding in the time frame they say they will accept the FAX'd information.

Really just unhappy with the amount of 25% fee of total debt but employees talk really highly about how much the company is going to save you (the customer). Myself and probably every other customer is struggling with debt and it just seems like FDR is capitalizing on it.

I am pleased with the services they provide. They are always updating me on the progress of the settlement for the credit card in progress. I like that if I don't go to my dashboard, they text me to approve any of the payments.
