Legal summons from Synchrony - We were unaware of time requirements for you and your legal team, an entity we hadn't even heard about notifying. We are still faxing stuff, at cost, when they said they'd do nothing. The negotiations took a little longer than I expected but once they got going it went smooth. The fees should be explained in finer detail. My overall experience was very good. They answered the questions as the process moved along.

I feel like I cannot catch a break. When I start to something else happens. E.g., Even though I just found out my father has cancer and this could be his last Christmas, I at least do not have to have a strain on myself constantly worrying about my unwarranted debt which was wrongly accrued to begin with due to a criminal contractor and a very poor choice in relations. Although overall satisfaction is yet to be seen but so far they were not forthcoming with all the information necessary to make a decision educated decision, they did not tell me they collect 25% of the top for each debt they reduce, so if you owe 8,000 they're taking 2,000 plus whatever the settlement is and they take fees off of every deposit so do your homework. In addition, I was lied to about how poorly this would affect my credit score and when it would start to rebound if given all the information I may not have done this... right now I feel as though they just wanted my money but as I stated in the beginning overall satisfaction is yet to be seen.

No one makes you feel low, as you might feel yourself, because debt is not where I would like to be in my life right now. This was a good solution for me. And I am grateful for the service. I have to admit, I was more than skeptical about his program, let alone their ability to understand my current needs without taking me and my vulnerable situation for their gain! I’m only a week in, but I must say the customer service is by far worth it! Although I won’t see any progress just yet, knowing someone is on my side and in this with me is very comforting. I have followed all directions as told, and having changed my contact information to the FDR contact information has helped already with the excessive phone calls. I can’t wait to see what my future holds with the help of FDR.

I was informed that one of my two Capital One accounts was no longer being handled by Freedom Debt Relief. It was the smaller of the two accounts. I was told that it had reached the point of being no longer eligible. All ten of my accounts were paid on time through May, 2018, with the exception of Lowes Sychrony account which was due on May 25, 2018. I had gone into Freedom Debt Relief just before the payment was due and I was told not to pay it. The young lady was helpful and very kind with whom I spoke. She said she would contact her supervisor concerning the Capital One account. I had called last weekend.

The negotiation team negotiated my Bank of America account. When I rolled into this program I owe 3100 and some odd dollars. The negotiation team settled my account by negotiating for me therefore I ended up paying more than I unload from the beginning. Obviously I am very upset over this negotiation. I am regretting making this decision. I had no idea it would take so long to negotiate settlements. The fact of not making my monthly payments is very difficult for me and then watching my credit score plummet has about put me over the edge. I've had anxiety, stress and loss of sleep over this. This truly was not the right plan for me but there is nothing I can do about it now.

Since our program is not a debt consolidation loan program we cannot negotiate with all of your creditors at the same time. I was contacted by Ed ** for a application loan on my existing debts. I listened to his presentation, and it sounded like something I might try, I tried to download my documents, no luck.. I was navigated to another site... I instructed him that NOT to use the text system as I do not have a smart phone. Again no luck, Called the Ed ** nr. and still no reply, Put a fork in me. I'm done.

I want to say that the person I dealt with on the phone was very helpful. She went the extra mile. When I enrolled I paid extra for the legal help if needed. Well I've needed it. A creditor is suing me. I was midway through processing with that firm but didn't meet their 2 day requirement. Now I am in hanging in limbo. Not sure. I will say Debt Relief has expressed a desire to help me. We shall see.

My debtors have not been pay yet & FDR has been taking the money out of my checking. There is no th thing else for me say except why aren't my debtor being paid??? This is very confusing and I beginning to the think I am being ripped of.

I’m extremely disappointed and upset, I was completely mislead with my debt consultant Kenneth ** who also advised I wouldn’t need my credit cards and to cut them up. Only to find out that they needed me to re-enter the credit card numbers later on. He didn’t enroll what I asked and when checking to see if it was all set. His response was, “All set.” Later to find out nothing was taken care of and having emails and calls not returned. This company in all was a waste of time and did not help my situation one bit. Once they have you enrolled. They ghost.

I am completely unsatisfied with the progress! I am being harassed and Freedom Debt Relief Has done nothing and there is no communication! I am in a bind and I am paying your organization for your help! I do not see any progress and would like to hear from an associate that can explain the process in detail! The entire process has been super quick, from signing up to adding funds to negotiating my debt and getting them resolved. Most or all of my debt has been negotiated down to 50-60% of what I owed. It takes a huge commitment on your end to get this done, but it is 100% worth it.

So far everyone has been great. We have been into mine a month, but everything has run smoothly so far. They have explained everything very well. We are waiting negotiations with my customers and then we will start paying them off as soon as I build up enough money. What I like most is the convenience. I have money taken out of bank account every 2 weeks and then I don't worry about it. Credit cards are getting slowly paid off. If I have any questions, I call and am satisfied with their service.

I got the last account resolved on April 23. I have been very happy with Freedom Debt Relief so far, but then I saw you were charging me FEES for over $3700.00. I felt that was a robbery from Freedom Debt Relief. I can not and will not recommend your company to anyone. I have been told all along that I would be done in December and last payment in October. Now I don’t know what’s going on??? Kaj **.
We're very sorry to hear of your disappointment in our settlement fees. Please understand, Ms. Sorensen, that Freedom Debt Relief does not collect one cent until we've successfully negotiated and settled an enrolled balance. Only after you, as the client, has agreed to the terms of the settlement are the settlement fees billed. Our negotiators work very hard to negotiate lower balances on behalf of our clients. Therefore, they should be compensated for their skills and efforts used to obtain settlements for our clients. Yes, we charge a fee that ranges from 15% to 25% of the enrolled debt, depending on the state of residence and the amount of debt enrolled. The fee information is reviewed during the initial debt consultation. We also outline this information in the Debt Resolution Agreement provided to every one of our clients.
Please consider the fact that our program payments are often much lower than the required monthly minimum from creditors. This usually offers clients some cash-flow relief immediately along with lower costs in the long run, even when accounting for our fee.

I am a new client with FDR.. and I must say it’s somewhat scary.. I was no longer able to pay my monthly credit card debt and was unsuccessful in getting the interest rates lowered.. I didn’t want to file bankruptcy and I want to pay my debts.. FDR presented me with a plan to pay it off in 4 years.. but I believe I can do it sooner.. I would highly recommend a friend, but the only downside is that we are not told on what order your bills will be negotiated and that puts stress on me, because even though you tell credit people you're with FDR, they keep calling and asking when they are going to get paid, otherwise it's GREAT!

I would be very satisfied if it wasn't that Freedom Debt Relief messed up on one of accounts by them missing payments. This resulted in the Creditor putting a Judgement against me in the Court House in the County I live. This has put a very negative mark on my Credit reports and ruined my name.

Overall the service I’ve received is good. However, I was led to believe that all creditors would be contacted at the beginning of the process. Recently I have learned that didn’t happen and I was also informed by your co-company that my creditors did not have to work with me on settling my debt.

The representative appeared to be very nice and helpful. I am usually very skeptical about these online debt relief agencies, however after reading very positive reviews I decided to reach out. Because of the insistence from the representative that the law firm that they “partner with” is very helpful and come highly recommended, I fell for it hook, line and sinker! Unfortunately due to my desperation, I agreed to begin the bankruptcy process with them. No sooner did I do that did the negative reviews come pouring through! The agency that they affiliate themselves or “partner” with is UpRight Law firm. There are tons of negative reviews with this firm and it honestly turns my stomach! Shame on Freedom Debt Relief for referring anyone to this agency!

They gave me help to get rid of my credit cards and paid them off. Then they gave me a loan so I just have one bill for the amount of the cards after they got them settled. They always have someone to talk to when you call their number.

I was choking in debt, but not late on any of my payments. I had too many and no extra money. Through Freedom Relief Program negotiating with my debtors, I have paid off 6 of my bills, have 3 in progress and 3 to be settled when funds are available. I cannot thank them enough for helping me to get out of debt. Hopefully through Freedom Debt Relief I soon will be saying I AM OUT OF DEBT!!!

I have been a client of Freedom Debt Relief for over 2 years paying almost $1500/month to them. My graduation path was about 4 1/2-5 years with a total of about $85,000 debt. But, after taking the time to examine how much I have been paying to FDR in settlement fees and other monthly account fees and charges I realized that they were not saving me any money and did not have the customer's best interest in mind. I have been actually paying more than what my initial debt was before I enrolled. Basically the lessor amount the creditor was agreeing to settle for equates to how much (plus some) that was going into FDR's pocket and you can do exactly everything FDR was doing. So cut out the middle man!
In the 2 years I have been a client, FDR has only paid off 2 agreed to settlements in full and about half of another structured settlement. In total, I have paid FDR more money than the original debt amount that was owed to these 3 creditors. Once you enroll your debt into the FDR program interest and fees start accruing on each debt because FDR informs you to stop making all payments to the creditors and change all your communication information to FDR's. This is when your debt amount starts increasing substantially more than it was prior to enrollment.
Most creditors/collection agencies will reach out to you directly after a few months of non-payment with a settlement offer which is usually about half the amount currently owed and they are willing to set up a structured payment to pay off that settlement amount. These are the same settlement offers and structured settlement payments that FDR claims to work so diligently to negotiate. Don't believe it! Most collection agencies will offer you the same deal and if they don't reach out to you with it then you can reach out to them with an offer. FDR charges a percentage of the debt negotiated as a "settlement fee" and, of course, uses the inflated debt amount with interest and penalties (since you have stopped paying) as your debt owed versus what the settlement amount is.
You will pay thousands in settlement fees to FDR that you could have pocketed if you talk directly to the collection agency your creditor has sent your debt to. In the meantime, your credit score goes in the gutter and, yes, does stay on your report as long as a bankruptcy. FDR's only focus is on negotiating a settlement offer (which is usually offered to you directly anyway) and taking their percentage. They have no interest in helping you improve your credit once debt is paid off or being a liaison between you and the creditor for payoff letters or confirmation of credit bureau reporting. FDR will have Power of Attorney for your debt with each collection agency and they will only talk to FDR.
Best bet is to go back to the original creditor before the debt was transferred to collection or written off for help with credit bureau reporting. FDR WILL NOT ASSIST! Bottom line customer service is only focused on settlement offers, collecting settlement fees, and collecting your monthly payment. Less than 24 hours after removing myself from the program FDR refused to communicate to any of the collection agencies regarding my debt even though the Power of Attorney only allows them to talk to FDR and after collecting the thousands of dollars in "settlement fees"!
Also, they will still collect the settlement fee of any debt they "negotiated" even if it isn't paid off at the time of program removal. FDR tries to say that you should ease your mind and let them handle everything for you, but THEY DON'T and collect money from you that is NOT well earned. Bottom line...YOU DO NOT NEED FREEDOM DEBT RELIEF TO NEGOTIATE A SETTLEMENT. You can do it all yourself!

I am very pleased with the dept reduction I have had over the last few years using the Freedom Debt Relief program. When I retired four years go, I could no longer afford to make minimum payments on all my 7 credit cards. So I signed up with Freedom Debt Relief. Today 5 have been paid off (at half the original amount owed). Of the remaining two accounts, one is in structured payments, and the last one, a small one, is process. By this time next year, I will be debt free!

A great company to help dig you out of the debt hole. They worked to settle all my outstanding consumer credit and then their sister company offered to finance the remaining balance clearing up everything way before the graduation date. Yes, the interest was high, but this allowed my credit score to go up and in turn I qualified to refinance my home three months after all the consumer debt was paid off. (Total plan time was eight months.)
The plan is easy. They go over all the money owed to whom. They calculate a monthly deposit paid into a dedicated account where a balance is built up during the negotiations they have with the creditors. They handle every aspect of the negotiations and come to a settlement. They contact you and seek approval of the settlement before any money is paid. Once you agree it’s paid from your dedicated account. The more you deposit the faster they can work to settle your debt.
Due to the great work of FDR, In the end the refinance dropped my double-digit interest loan down to a low single digit loan were I paid off the settlement loan. My monthly total payments dropped by more than half allowing me to set aside money in a savings account. From killer debt to savings… AMAZING. Great communication throughout the process and they did what they were being paid to do in a easy helpful way. Just keep up with the agreed to payment and they will get you back to financial health. The company name says it all.

Feel like I am being ripped off. Horrible communication with FDR, always being brushed off by customer service. I would not recommend anyone to use this service. I am going to complete my process with FDR but not a company I would ever suggest for people to use. There have to be better companies that communicate with their customers better.

I got a call from Freedom Financial from Florida. I was explained the process. Although the gentleman explained everything very well, I told him I had no way to pay the fee I was asked for. The payment is almost half of my disability check. I told the guy there was no way I could use his service. That's when it happened. I have since received 3 more calls. I keep telling them no and to stop calling. But like clockwork, every Monday evening I get a call. They keep trying to get me to use their service even though it would create more issues than I have now. PLEASE STOP CALLING!!!

I'm not a good English speaker so it was hard for me to understand some high English words. But what I understood with the guy that was introducing me to your company was that you guys will pay off my debt with all my creditors and then I'll will pay you guys with a lower amount payment a month. I never heard that my credit will impact. Until later on when I receive an email from you guys is when I saw what really was going on.
When I was reading the papers you had to sign and initial it, explain itself about credit impact. So as soon as I saw I ask and he said, "Oh no worries. We will fix your credit." And then by the end of the call and ask him again, "So you guys are going to pay them first right?" And he said, "You make a monthly payment with us and as soon we gather enough money we contact your creditors to get into agreement and pay them." So by then I was really confused. And the email confirm it. So I was not happy on how he explain the work you guys do.
If I would've know that my credit was going to get impact bad, and that you guys were not gonna pay my creditors and I would've said no to you guys. But I'm here now getting calls and being harass by all my creditors telling me to pay them, and that you guys haven't got in contact with them. I dont like it. But I'm here now stuck with you guys, so hopefully at the end you guys end up fixing up all this mess and I dont end up getting sue by my creditors. You guys will get a better review as soon I see my creditors are getting paid and that my debt is going down. And my credit is getting back up.

So far I have been satisfied with the process. I am concerned about my credit rating being so low for so long but am pushing forward with the plan and hope to make more progress soon. I believe that they have a set % in place with creditors. I do not believe there is any actual negotiation process. All the cases that have been settled for me have been exactly the same every time. 40% of the balance of the account at the time. Not the enrolled balance. I personally have settled a few of my accounts for over 60%. Oh well. It is what it is.

Brent was very professional yet patient and kind. He was able to put to rest my current concerns regarding the Negotiation Phase. I did not realize that FDR was able to negotiate a payment schedule with a creditor. He carefully explained payments and percentages to me so that I was able to understand the process. He covered each and every point and made sure that all of my questions were answered. I only wish there had been an FDR available years ago - I would have been much further ahead in life.

I was not sure about Debt Consolidation, it seemed "iffy". After talking with Freedom, I felt more confident. I owe the money and bankruptcy was not an option for me. I'm happy I'm paying my bills. After surgery that kept me off work for 6 weeks and an ex that disappeared and failed to pay child support, I got behind on my bills and had to use credit which quickly spiraled. Freedom Debt Relief lets you know what type of plan you're gonna be getting into and what it's gonna cost you monthly. Once they've gotten their fees and reached enough money, then they would talk to the creditor. From there, they go into a negotiation. I had also checked online and Freedom Debt Relief was the top company. My creditors must be okay with them too, because usually the creditors will harass you but with FDR, they have not been giving me a hard time. Many years ago, I did a consolidation and the creditors were off the chain. They were really annoying and disrespectful. But with FDR, the creditors have been no bother. I've had no calls and no disrespect from the creditors. It has been an easy transition for me so far. They had gave me a time frame for a program and then they had set me up. The payment has not been difficult to make either. It fit right in.

We were so excited to start our credit repair journey. My husband and I enrolled in December 2017. We're 16 months in, and 5/7 accounts have settlements on them! We are so grateful for that. Our frustration comes in because we have a few thousand dollars in our account with them, and they continue to tell us that's not enough to try and settle the remaining accounts. My husband and I both feel like they are dragging their feet now to try and get more money out of us being as we made a large deposit. I've expressed my frustration to their customer service and basically get told, "We're sorry but we still need $9000 from you." My 2 remaining accounts don't even total that!!! I was so excited when we started and now I'm just angry and frustrated.

Updated on 10/24/2021: I have another two years on the five-year program. Freedom Debt Relief has helped pay off a lot of my bills. I'm happy about that. If any new reports came up, I got an email right away. I appreciate that. These guys were a lifesaver for me. Also, my credit history has improved. I'm a lot smarter about money. I look more at needs versus wants before I submit to an amount. And I look at it like I'm paying off a car. You buy a car today, you're gonna pay for five years. So the good news is when I pay it off in two years, unless I pay it off sooner, I'll be able to buy a new car. I'm very happy with the service.

I started this process to help improve my credit and since joining my credit score has dropped to the lowest it has been in my lifetime. I could have maintained doing what I was doing and kept my credit rating at a respectable number. I don't see the advantage to this at all.
We apologize for the frustration you must be feeling, Mr. Motes. A debt relief program like ours can certainly have a negative impact to your credit score. However, the negative impact is temporary. After the full settlement amount is paid to and processed by a creditor, they may report to credit reporting bureaus that your account is settled in full, settled, paid, paid by settlement, or settled for less than the full amount. You no longer owe on this account and the balance is zero. That debt is behind you and your credit report shows it.
The good news is rebuilding credit is far easier to do than get out of a sizable debt problem, which is why clients turn to us in spite of any credit score issues they may incur. Almost everyone can have excellent credit in two years or less following a simple plan, no matter how bad their credit is today.

Still in process. So far only one of several proposed/desired settlements. Wish payments could be structured better/lower but understand why they are what they are. Not too pleased with the large fee charged by FDR for their services. Seems a bit excessive.

I was paying my bills every month but seeing no way to get ahead the interest was so high that my large payments were barely making a dent. As I added another creditor to my list I was concerned after they were calling me frequently about a payment. Every call I included my financial hardship and the phone number to Freedom Debt Relief was provided. But they contd calling. The adm at FDR reassured me that all was in order with this creditor and I was able remain patient and wait as 4 dents had already been resolved and 2 more were upcoming with a projected graduation of 12/20. This works, but you have to be patient and don’t let them fool you I to thinking this will take only 4 months. I’m in month 7 and all is still not settled. Wish they’d be more upfront about timeline and how much you should have in your account before they negotiate.

I came on board back in July of 2018 with over $27,000 in debt. I knew it would take some time to build my account to where they would be able to start paying my creditors and that was the hardest because I had always paid my bills on time and with more than the minimum balance. However, I found myself abusing my credit cards and need to get rid of the debt to have peace of mind.
I am happy to say that as of this writing, 1 of my 7 accounts has been paid off and 3 others are being paid off. I have 3 more in they are working on. I was thrilled with that first paid account. I knew I was doing the right thing. Now with 3 more being paid on, I am excited. I know it will take several months to get them paid off, but I know it will happen and I am pleased with the results of the agreements. I introduced my sister to the program and she is having the same results. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to get out of debt. It takes time, but it is truly worth it.

Updated on 9/3/2021: Freedom Debt Relief has helped me in completing the pay off of my outstanding debt that was like an anchor around my neck. I only have to complete paying FDR Consolidation Plus who gave me a loan to pay off my last debt. I can't express my gratitude to everyone in the FDR family for the assistance given me in paying off off the debt I had on my back. I imagine it feels like being released from prison or something close to that. I feel like I am so close to starting my life over with a clean slate. The process of paying off my debt has given me a new outlook on life that I am sure will stay with me for the balance of my life!
Original review: Like most, I guess I was a little antsy to get a settlement done. I understand the process, and money has to be in dedicated account for negotiation to take place, but patience is not my strong point. Well, once I had build up my dedicated account to a usable amount, everything think went smooth and easy. I have made my first settlement and am fired up to do more!

I have experienced great results by partnering with FDR. I would have preferred my credit score to not go down but when you have a hardship such as we did and still do, FDR was and are still there. Thank you!

FDR experience has been top touch from the beginning and throughout the process. Communications has been outstanding with respect to the program and the processes that are taking place day-to-day. Legal support is provided from partnered legal firm which is not offered by other debt companies. Negotiations have to date saved me over $10,000. The agent assigned has been exceptional in knowledge as well as customer service. I will recommend FDR to anyone struggling with the high interest credit card debt.

I was not clear about the fee for service. I understand that I am paying for the legal service. I have been uninformed about one of my creditors has made an offer to resolved. I'm very happy about that. Waiting to see when I am able to take another creditor off.

This company after 9 months has provided only excuses. Every time I call they say they are one more month away from making progress. One more month means one more deposit. Every time they are supposedly negotiating with a different company. It seems that a lot of the 1 star reviews are from people who have actually been in the program for more than just a little while and they are recent. Maybe something happened to this company. Simply put after 9 months nothing has been done except blame me. Newest excuse, "We don't know the right account number because we can't pull your credit!" So what happened to all the information you collected 9 months ago?
