It takes an incredible amount of time to pay anything off and for payments to post. Even when paying chunks off at a time it seems to be dragged out as long as possible. Paying $200 a month and only $30 going towards an account and $25 to "fees" causes more frustration than relief.

I have been enrolled with FDR for a bit over a year and the experience was going well until one of the creditors I consolidated summons me into court. I believed I would be assisted with the legal part of this court proceeding but apparently because I did not enroll on time in their National Litigation Law Group, I am now left alone and now possibly having to get a lawyer separate from FDR to help with my proceedings.
Not only am I feeling cheated and alone, now every time I call to inquire about the settlement for this creditor, I get a different answer from the customer service representatives. I called on July 11th, 2019 I was told this debt would be settled by the end of July, beginning of August. This gave me hope because I have a a court date in August. Today, I was told that this case will not be settled (maybe) until September. I am beyond frustrated, this is complete nightmare. Do not enroll with these company because when the things get tough, they leave you hang to dry.

Seems okay so far. I am terrified though. I am afraid. I wish I never got myself into this mess. Freedom has done a great job of calming my nerves. I wish they would start negotiations with creditors immediately. I am just glad freedom is accessible and I can call and actual talk to someone.

Was asking about lawsuit. Was told it had been resolved. Went to Freedom Debt Relief. Was reading about money received for deposits was all not directed money for deposits. Also read that clients were told all creditors would be negotiated. That was not true. I don't know if I have all my deposits applied to accounts, hope. I was told by a represntive. I was told graduation was July 2021 But in my dashboard says it is 2022. I would like to know the right answer. Thank you.

I know that you have changed the policy that a client would not be charged a fee when no reduction was made. I was charged nearly 2400.00 for an account that did not get reduced. I understand that it was before you changed the policy but in hindsight it would be considerate that some of the fee be returned to me. I will not ever recommend FDR until I get something back from the 2400.00 fee.

I have used a similar entity to help me resolve some of my past debts. It was always a struggle to even get those finance companies to listen but with the help of entities like Freedom Debt Relief, I am able to pay a percentage of the debt. So far I'm happy with the result. Slowly but surely that I can pay all my debt. I'm so thankful that there are company who's willing to help me. I used to pay my bill on time... until Wyndham company take advantage of me. Like they offer us the timeshare. We pay them monthly but we never get whatever they promise us. So I just stop paying that company... And some company. If you pay only minimum, they have extra charge. So greedy. That's why I'm so thankful I found out about the debt relief program. They are very helpful!

I am very happy with the way Freedom Debt Relief settled my credit card debt. They reached a settlement with 4 out of 5 of my accounts in less than 8 months. I just started with the debt relief in January, having 2 credit cards that I was having a problem making payments and in just 6 short months the first one is resolved and being paid off. At first I was scared but things are working out. Got my first settlement after 4 months which is good. I make sure my payment is always covered and not dishing out the payments is a relief. I don't really know how I held on so long worrying all my savings would be gone, and they are. I have some peace of mind and can plow on with medical bills!!!! I recommend it!!

I'm about a year in and have been happy with the results. I just wish there was some way to keep your credit score while this process is taking place. I'm happy with the settlement amounts that have been worked out.

I am so happy to be a part of this program! It really is helping. FDR calculates what you can give monthly to the banks, and they talk to the creditors, I only worry about getting informed on my end. They are great at communicating things to me. The only thing that was not clear from the beginning was the 1099C form. I feel like they should have talked about it from the beginning to let the person know they would have to pay back on taxes atleast a 25%.... but other than that it is a great program. Great team!!

I was recruited into this debt reduction program from your representative with promises of how my debt will be cut in half very quickly. I made my payments up to $4-5K and ZERO action was taking place. I made several inquiries and was told they weren't sure why nothing has happened because there are sufficient funds to start negotiations. Soon after this I was approached to do a consolidation loan, hmm, why didn't we do that in the first place? Now I see the corruption. My loans total 33K... Ooo, you go the creditors down to half but my loan is at 26% and your fees take me back up to paying $26K. And after all this, my credit is crap. This whole process is a scam. I plan to file with the BBB. On top of this, now you tell me I will have to claim this as earnings on my taxes, wow.

Everyone was kind and understanding when I had questions, and my debt was settled in under a year, with a savings of about $10,000! This program has been literally life changing for me. I went through a bad time in my life, and when I finally got back on track I was struggling to just meet minimum payments. I always thought that programs like this were scams. I am so glad that I did research on this one and finally gave it a chance, because like I said, it has changed my life. It's a disaster. Would not recommend. I would never put my friends thru anything like this. I could do better than they do. It's a sham. I would never recommend any to do it. You can settle your settlements faster than they do!!!

I’ve been enrolled since December and they’ve only settled on 2 of my 6 debts so far. 1 within the last week. Settlements haven’t been that great of a decrease in what’s owed. May have been better off paying on my own. I don’t know. Seems my debt almost doubled before it settled.

The service you provide is definitely needed. But when you have a client that can’t even afford the reduced payment every month I think it would be appropriate to recommend to the client to file bankruptcy. If not the client experiences more financial hardship. This can cause many mental, physiological problems. I will end by saying that your services are definitely needed though.

I got a letter from the courts that I have yet another trial date! This happened the same time last year. The reason is someone does not post my payments to the ledger in a timely manner and report to the court system that I am making my payments on time and in full. I called your office 3 times, Crossroads twice, and it was like pulling teeth to get a copy of my ledger. I also called the collection agency (lawyer's office) and they refused to talk to me at all. Updated on 07/02/2023: Really wish process did not have so many extra charges/fees, thereby extending the pay-off period. I have to learn to read contract procedures thoroughly and slower in order to better understand all the extra fees and charges that would affect the amounts being paid toward my debts; I may not have chosen Freedom if I had realized this.
Updated on 03/09/2021: Cut my debt by quite a bit, but didn't realize it would take so long. But still very much worth it. My credit rating went down, as I always paid on time and it appeared that I just stopped paying, but it'll get back up there.
Original Review: Explained program, in terms I could understand, and how it worked. No pushing to join, just giving options. Gave me time to think on it without constant calling. Once I made the decision to go forward, the process was easy with each step explained. I'm on my way to what I hope is a financially stable future.

I don't know how many times we talked about payment schedule at least a dozen times, not once did anyone say there was a start up payment (the first payment), made my payment July 5, 2019 then the next payment was taken out the very next week, what happened to the biweekly payment!! Didn't have enough in my account, my bank paid and I got a 28.00 service charge!!! Not a good way to start of the program, when they're screwing your account!! Not Happy!

So far, 1 account has been settled. It took a long time, over 6 months. I "guess" things are OK. I get lots of calls on my cell from creditors and collection agencies. Not much you can do about that. Not a fun time for me.

I have been enrolled with FDR since February 2019 and now that it is July, I feel confident in writing a review.Freedom Debt Relief is a company which will take all of your unsecured debt and negotiate with creditors/collectors on your behalf through their affiliated legal group NLLG to get your accounts settled to a fraction of what you owe. When I first heard this, I was worried it was a scam but I am really happy to say that it is not.
A little background on my situation. I went to college with the help of a co-signer to get my student loans. Some I got deferral without a cosigner. I graduated and found myself in a successful career. I was paying on my loans and even got married and bought a house when something totally unexpected happened. My co-signer filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy which automatically defaulted all of my student loans he signed (8 loans in total, totaling about $80K). I was completely locked out of them. I would send payment checks to the company only to be told over the phone that they could not tell me if the checks were received or were being directed to my account so I gave up. I was told by my co-signer that the bankruptcy covered the loans and that they would be gone at the end of the 7 year term so I forgot about them and continued to pay my federal Loans... until the 7 years were up.
At that time I was pregnant with twins, had moved across the country and was renting a home with my spouse when I started getting collections calls. It became a nightmare. They insisted I make large ($400-600) payments for EACH LOAN that was defaulted or pay them in full. I felt overwhelmed and defeated. I had other federal student loans that I was already paying on, car payments, rent, husband's student loans and I was on maternity leave about to deliver my children and all the money I had saved for my family was suddenly gone.
One of my children was sickly and required extra medical care and regular doctor visits. I paid each collections agency what little I could to stop them from constantly calling me and we moved from where we were to a less expensive area. I couldn't afford daycare so my amazing in-laws stepped in and moved across the country to try to help take care of the kids so I and my spouse could work full time to try to manage our finances. I felt utterly defeated.
Eventually, the apartment we were renting became too small as the children got bigger but no one would allow us to rent a home with 4 adults, two small children so we wound up buying the cheapest fixer-upper home that was large enough to accompany all of us because we could not afford to rent two apartments. Needless to say, when the water heater died and the house did not come with appliances, we had to pay for that. Suddenly, just to get diapers and everything we needed was put to credit cards because the rest of our money went to collections agencies and bills. To put it in perspective, in total I was paying $1740 monthly to credit cards and student loans/collections. This doesn't include car payments, husbands student loans, etc. We couldn't keep up. We didn't have enough income. Then came FDR...
I was applying around to see if anyone would give me a consolidation loan. I was desperate to get the loans out of default and into a payment I could afford but no one would help me. Then I spoke with a person named Troy who said, "Have you heard of Freedom Debt Relief? I cannot give you a loan but I believe you qualify for the program." From that moment on, my life and that of my family was utterly changed.
Troy was the person who helped me into the program and got everything set up. He told me it would negatively impact my credit at first which didn't bother me at all. My credit was already shot. He told me it would take a few months to accrue enough money to start negotiating with collectors and explained how everything worked. I enrolled the majority of my debt that I could. I could not enroll it all, because I wanted to be sure I could afford the monthly payment to FDR without fail. Then something amazing happened. My monthly payment to FDR was something I COULD afford, and it saved me enough that I was able to save up and pay off my federal student loans.
When they were gone, I was then able to save enough (thanks to tax returns and no longer paying what I did to collectors) to settle on my own, the other debts I could not previously afford to enroll in the program. I changed all my work benefits to maximize my income, I sold things to make money and did overtime. I changed from a phone plan to something much cheaper. I started listening to Dave Ramsey and cash-budgeting and couponing. Now not only can I afford my monthly payments, but all the smaller loans I was able to pay-off on my own allow me to give that money to FDR to speed-up my payoff of the program.
I have 3 settlements in process as of my writing today. Customer service has always been very helpful in answering my questions or concerns via the phone. The client dashboard is very easy to use. My first settlement didn't come until about 5 months into the program, but I have so much enrolled that it took time to get enough deposited to really push things forward. Now I have a strict budget for all of my expenses and I plan ahead for things like Car registrations. I feel like I can finally breathe and I see a huge light with a rainbow at the end of the tunnel and I am just so thankful and grateful to FDR for helping me get this far.
My graduation estimate was 36 months but I'm going to keep depositing as much as I can and selling things and working overtime to see just how fast I can graduate. I feel like the sky is the limit and I know it doesn't end with FDR. Once I've finished the program, I plan on sequentially paying off our car loans and my husband's student loans and then we are DEBT FREE. The mortgage is a whole other ballgame, but I am so THRILLED and EXCITED at the progress I've seen and as Dave Ramsey says "Live like no one else so you can LIVE like no one else!"
I'm not making any of this up. Joining FDR is not the end game. You have to change your money mindset. You need to budget. You need to work hard. You need to be wise with your money and pay FDR at least monthly but I assure you that if you enroll in FDR to win and get and STAY out of debt, you CAN do it if you really want to. It's not a gimmick. The change begins with you first, and FDR is an amazing helping hand. And definitely enroll with the NLLG group. It's a monthly fee but it is TOTALLY worth it and the payment is included in your monthly payment. I would have been in trouble without them.

I do really like this company. I would recommend. I like the end result. The only thing I am not thrilled about is that I was up to date with all my debt at the start of the program and per this process I had to stop paying and I went from a fairly good credit score to a horrific one. The amount of time it is taking for settlements is a little stressful.

When I okayed for this to be added, I found that I can’t afford for the payment to go up an additional 120.00. I can’t afford this, so now the only way to take care of this is to pay it separate. I already thought this had been added in the beginning. I had quite a few debts, so I just assumed it had been there all along. I had been looking as a debt got paid off. I have been very happy and content with everything thus far.

While my debt has been resolved, I am not happy with the way it was done. My credit got worse and a lot of my accounts were closed. I am happy with Freedom Debt Relief plus program. I feel this should have been offered in the first place.

I have had extreme financial difficulties within the past year. I was ready to file for bankruptcy but I called this company first. I am glad I did. They were and still are very friendly and helpful. The employees know what they are talking about. After taking some information about my 4 greatly outstanding debts it wasn't but a few minutes they got back with me. We made an agreement that I would be debt free in 48 months with a monthly payment I feel comfortable with. This company has made 2 settlements for less than one half of what I owed in 2 months.

I had some debt that I wanted to consolidate, and I reached out to Freedom Debt Relief as I saw some good reviews. Upon joining their 'Program", I was not informed as to how they do business. I was told from the rep I worked with that they could payoff my debts and save me $500 per month payments. That sounded great, and was what I was looking for. However, what they did not tell me is how their "program" works. What they do is tell you to stop making payments, and to let Freedom Debt Relief pay off your debts. Sounds great right? Well, what they do is not pay off your debts, their program forces your debts into being late and delinquent so they can workout a payoff deal with the creditors. All the while your credit is dropping like a brick.
I had spent the last 20 years after being financially devastated in a bad divorce rebuilding my credit up to the mid 700's. After letting Freedom Debt Relief "pay off my debts (which they never did after 4 months) my credit fell into the trash to the mid 500's. Needless to say I was not happy, and when I tried to get things moved along, I was told that my accounts were on a 48 month payoff period. Yes, 48 months - that is 4 years of my credit being turned into trash.
My advice is DO NOT use these dishonest crooks, unless you don't care about your credit history being trashed by them. I am currently, fighting with them to be refunded my payments, and canceling my "program" with Freedom Debt Relief. They are dishonest and lead you to believe they can help you! Don't believe them!I would have selected a -10 star rating above if I could.

Last year I signed up for National Debt Relief and all was going well until I called and asked for my payments per month to be reduced because I took a pay cut at work. They refused to do it so I canceled the program and called Freedom Debt Relief. When I was called I explained my situation to Ed and he gave me a wonderful monthly payment that I can afford and started the first deposit when I was able to. I am extremely pleased with the customer service at FDR and I would recommend anyone to FDR.

The first representative was awful. He basically told me to drop your program. Bad for your company!! I asked for someone else and were able to help at least temporarily. Your company should reevaluate some of your staff. Every other time I have had representatives who are helpful. The first guy is not the type of person when you are struggling that you want to speak with.

I have not contacted FDR once without an immediate response giving me guidance or answers. I ask when I could expect my first settlement. I was told within 3 to 6 months. At the beginning of the third month I was notified of my first settlement.

Updated on 05/20/2023: I was deep into debt so far that I thought I would never see the light at the end of the tunnel. Till I saw the commercial on TV and I looked it up and saw what other people went though. I did my research. Was very impressed with it. I talked it over with my mom because we were not getting too far. It took us almost 3 1/2 years but it was worth it. The customer service agents are always so nice and knowledgeable. The negotiators really did outstanding job with me. I graduated at the end of May debt free. I can say I am happy I made the right decision. Thank you Freedom. Hands down to the best.

They're not giving back any money they take, even if they were not supposed to take it. Even if it was your rent money and you're going to be evicted and your kids will be homeless. Even if they told you they wouldn't take any more money out of your account until you call and tell them to. Once they have your money, you won't get it back.

I needed help with resolving all my credit cards. Freedom Debt Relief had better reviews and was a bit more helpful than other companies. The quality of service I received from them was great. The first guy I spoke with, Mark, was caring and followed up when I was setting everything up. He explained everything with the many questions that I had. Plus, it has been almost a year since I signed up and whenever I email him, he still answers me back. I give props to him. We worked out a payment plan where we split the payments for every other week. That was very helpful.

I have contacted FDR approx 10 times to advise them of letters I have received from the accounts that you are helping me with. I usually talk to Tamara ** (I feel as though we are friends) and she listens then puts me in touch with the account representatives. I have talked with a different rep every time I call. All of you reps are very professional and caring, and knowledgeable (You should be impressed with the way they conduct themselves.) They all take the time to listen and then answer all the questions I have. So far we have settled one account and I just gave approval to settle another. We are now working on a third account. I thought the customer service was beyond what I had expected. The representative I had named Jose has been very easy to communicate with and always responds promptly to questions and concerns. I owed a lot of debt for a middle class salary. They reduced it as they said. When I started with them my credit score went down into the 370 range. A few years later it is at 750 again. Not only did they follow through, the calls stopped, my stress level on credit disappeared and they handled my business for several years without me having any issues. Smart move by me. Honest job by them. Plus they helped me realize that I must, Stay Out Of Debt!

I had a lot of debt but was able to make my payments, I was concerned about how long it was going to take to pay them off so I enrolled in the program. I was under the impression settlement offers would be made and I would just make payments. No one said it would take months for the offers and in the meantime late charges and interest is growing. My credit score tanked from high 700, low 800 to mid 400. If I had it to do over I would have just continued making my payments and not worry about how long it would take. Now I have a horrible credit score and very little available credit for emergencies. Makes me feel very uneasy and and extremely dissatisfied with my decision. Customer service for the most part just reads a script.

I was afraid to do debt relief because of credit score issues and feeling like a failure. Now that I have enrolled my debt I have less stress and anxiety about my finances. I don’t rely on credit cards and that feels great. I live within my means and am learning how to budget with just one income since my husband lost his job. Updated on 10/08/2019: In June I talked to Freedom Debt and they set me up on getting me debt free. I sent my credit cards their address and phone number so I wasn't bugged for not paying my bills. A couple companies still sent me emails so I just forwarded them to Freedom debt. As of right now I credit amount has been settled and hope the other ones get settled soon.
Original Review: George is helping me get out of debt. Hope in 2 years everything will be paid. He explained everything very good. Only had a few question when he was done explaining everything. Would like to pay for my bill with a check. Don't like others taking money out of my checking. Always afraid I won't have the amount in there at the right time so now I really have to watch what I have saved in checking.

So far Freedom on resolved one account. One account I got sued, Freedom did absolute nothing to help. One account I resolved on my own, but Freedom wants $150.00 for the account getting resolved, REALLY. Freedom collects a fee every month for doing little of NOTHING.

Contracted with them in 2016. The “Client Dashboard” has very poorly estimated dates regarding payments required to complete the program and graduation dates. 2 Calls to customer service for explanations resulted in a 40 minute circular conversation and a hang up, then a second 19 minute conversation giving different information. Contact ends in December. Not soon enough for me. Negotiate with your creditors yourself. You will come out ahead.

FDR has made getting out of debt painless. I have tried on my own without success. I have been able to pay down my debt without solicitors calling me. It takes the worry away and you concentrate on paying your monthly payment and they do all the rest.

My wife and I had a joint Discover account that was accepted by Freedom Debt Relief and agreed to structured settlements. We did not know how aggressive and underhanded Discover collections tactics are. Discover Card Services decided they would not wait until my wife's card was settled, and demanded it up front now! If we had the money we would have gladly paid. A Sheriff shows up at our house to serve my wife a court date for all the money Discover wants! The pre selected Atty. Worked against us and was of only little help, defended Discover sounded like they were on opposing side.
Discover will easily drop your credit score through the floor so that you can't get employment to pay the card off and they place a Judgement on you to to make you look as bad as possible and mark up your record. Be careful when settling with Discover, we learned the hard way. Working with Freedom Debt Relief is great, they are really excellent! Awesome customer service! Just their outsourcing was lacking.

Resolving debt with Freedom Debt Relief has been a pleasant experience and even got one account as low as 40 percent settlement with a creditor. Although your credit score will take a nose dive significantly you can always work on it later. Would recommend FDR if you can't make the minimum payments on your credit cards or loans.

We experienced more debt than we could afford. We had to take from our savings account every time we had payments to make and we were running out of money. I called FDR and they were so kind and helpful and we made a plan together so we could still pay our bills and not have to pull anything out of our savings, not have to use credit cards for purchasing anything and still have money left over for a few extras.

I called to get a good standing letter. I spoke with an agent. Unfortunately I don’t recall her name. She was kind and professional she verified my current status and stated she would email the letter. I never received it. I checked my junk And not there. I was lied to, was told could settle my credit card balance without bankruptcy. After I paid in thousands of dollars then I was told they could not help me I could of done bankruptcy in the first place and save all that I paid in. I will warn everyone I know to not get ripped off from you. This is a fly by night rip off.

At the end the settlement figures were kind of high but for the most part I'm satisfied with the program. I never could have resolved these debts on my own. I hope that I can pay off my Consolidation Plus Loan just as quickly to finally be out of debt for good. Since I joined the program I haven't bought anything on credit.

This was not at all what I expected to happen from emeralding in this program... I feel like I would have been better off to just default it... The one that that is been resolved did not new hardly anything to help me and a dread to see what the second bit turns out like. I know you guys do the best you can but it sure didn't turn out the way I expected and as a matter of fact it turned out worse, I didn't save any money and as a matter of fact the way I figured it cost me more.
I know that I may not realize everything involved but I really thought that this was going to help but so far it's been a tragedy on top of what already faced. I know you guys do the best you can and I am not angry with you but like I said I wish I had just defaulted on my credit card debt because there's nothing that could have took from me because I don't have anything... All I've got is caretaking for two dying parents Anna mentally challenged son and living off of 1400 a month.
I'll continue with the program because I don't have any other choice but this is not at all what I expected and as I said it's ended up costing me more with all the light charges and fees and everything else so far It is not help me the least bit. But I do appreciate your effort... Life seems so screwed up Right now but it's not your fault. It's mine but I couldn't help hurting my back so bad that I could no longer work and I have lost everything I've had. But that's not your problem, you're in it to make a profit and I understand. But like I said, I wish I had just defaulted.

I spoke to your customer service rep a day or so ago regarding authorizing a settlement. The person I spoke with was very helpfup and took care of me in a professional way. The only thing I did not like was the settlement amount (Dell), the original debt was approx $790, and the settlement was $840.75. I was aware that there would be late fees, etc, however, I should have not put that bill in the system. I could have paid that off, which is hindsight. Your employee explained all to me in a professional manner.

I requested the removal of 4 credit cards from my account with FDR in order to negotiate the settlement amounts myself. The rep was very knowledgeable, efficient, and took care of my request in a timely manner. Shortly after I received an e-mail with a letter detailing my request and the reps actions which completed my request.

The representative provided the answer to my question of amount of each payment on a settlement but with the old client dashboard I wouldn’t have even had to call. That information was already provided for each settlement. Bring the old dashboard back!

After going back to school and being in between jobs, my credit card debt and personal loan debt had reached just over $20,000. I was becoming barely able to make the minimum payments each month. Can't change addresses on almost all accounts. I have to handle the collection calls. I would have thought they would contact my creditors but they won't until I deposit enough money to start negotiations. This is not what I expected.
