Since they started working on my debt with the credit card company, it was always very easy for us to communicate by email or by phone call and within a year or so my debt was resolved and I recommend anyone who needs to can work with them for sure. So far I'm relatively satisfied with the service. My only complaint is the lack of working on the nastiest creditor I put in this program. But whenever I've called with questions or with new information, I've been treated very well. Keep up the good work in my behalf.

Joined FDR about 4 months ago, was very hesitant and unhappy this was the route I had to go but within 4 months they have already negotiated and settled 5 accounts for me and I finally feel relief and that I made the right choice. Your company should respond faster and try to get them their funds ASAP, As I Deposit to my acct, things should go faster. Even though I am happy with the progress I would like a quicker response. My next concern would getting this creditors their information quicker and keeping them from calling me. Avant, Barclay card and Discover should be next to take care of. Thank you.

I reached out to Freedom Debt Relief because I was over extended my credit. I have five unsecured loans as well as many credit card accounts. I wanted to pay my debt without filing bankruptcy and they gave me the opportunity to allow them to help me by working with my creditors to pay them off, as well as, reduce my continuous over payment of high interest rates.

I would recommend to this to anyone who has tapped close to credit limits and is pursuing a better future with no debts, but cannot exceed the interest rate, but yet wants to pay down the principle payment amount owing. You can make all payments on time and above the minimum due, but you have to make sure you can keep it up, and do both at the same time. I recommend FDR for anyone considering a Bankruptcy, taking a loan out, or Paying all debts with a Credit Card. Sometimes the Amount and Risk is far too great a step, and that is why I chose FDR.

The agent working with me did a good job. However, I’m disappointed that FDR is not able to deal directly with my creditor. My creditor won’t return my calls so now I’m stuck. My creditor knew all they had to do was to drop the word “fraud” (there was no fraud) and FDR would go away.

I joined FDR because I was buried in a mountain of debt as a result of 5 major surgeries in a span of two years. Could not keep up with monthly payments to creditors and the FDR consolidation amount was considerable less than the amount paid to creditors each month. I am 76 and the medical expenses continue. I do not get all the medical attention I need because of the cost. My income is fixed and I do not have flexibility in my spending. Consequently, I have reduced the monthly payment to FDR to where it was the minimum just to keep legal protection in tact. I have just increased my monthly repayment amount as my phone was paid off. I anticipate I will be able to increase the amount further as other bills get paid off. Your customer service rep. was understanding and gracious in setting up a schedule I can manage for the next two months. Thank You.

When I first entered the program in 4/16 I was told I could be debt free in about 4 years. My graduation date was showing 6/20. With the new dashboard it says 7/22. My deposit total has stayed the same since the beginning of the year even though I have never missed and deposits. I guess I'm just a little confused since the Dashboard format has changed. A friend recommended Freedom Debt Relief because I got a little bit caught up in credit card debt. He said that they were good about helping people out, consolidating, and trying to get the debt paid off and had a lower rate. He said he had a good experience with Freedom Debt and I figured, well, if it worked for him, I would give it a try. I explained to Freedom Debt, I'd like to see if there was a way they could help me get the amount of debt that I had in credit cards reduced. And when I called them, the guy got the information of what credit cards I wanted to consolidate. He told me what savings I will get if I went with them, set up a payment plan and pretty much just went from there.
Initially, the payment plan was working. But then I got hit with some doctor bills. I was making payments monthly but I was not making the payment that we agreed upon. I did it for two years where I made the full payments, and now I'm down slightly to half of that amount because I could pay them now. Recently came into a settlement with the last creditor. Also, about $3,000 that I owe to get this thing paid off.
However, I felt it was misleading in a sense. Freedom Debt Relief said it will be about 22 months then everything would be all settled but it took a lot longer than that. They said the 22 months that they gave me was more of an estimate, which I didn't feel so good about. I just assumed in two years it would be done. They just came to the last settlement. It has been almost three years now. Other than that, everything else worked okay. Their customer service has been really good. You asked them questions and they answered the questions that they knew the answers to. They tried their best to be as satisfactory as possible. But I would tell others to ask more questions. Be more upfront. That they can get more direct answers as to the timeline of the services that Freedom Debt offers. It will probably benefit them more if they were a little bit more upfront about it.

At first I was skeptical. When I joined I had debt but all of my credit cards were in good standings. When they told me to stop paying my cards, I was in disbelief. Did I really want to ruin my credit just to get out of debt? But Kenneth, who was my agent told me to trust him, that they've been doing this forever, and I will bounce back with no problem. So I put my trust in him and it was the best decision I ever made.
At first it seems slow. You're paying FDR and nothing's happening. But after a few months and the first settlement happens, you realize how good they are, settling for less than 50% of the debt. And then they do it again and again. All you have to do is pay monthly and they handle the rest. And don't worry about your credit. You shouldn't be using any during this time, and by the time you're done, your credit score is going back up. They do a great job negotiating debt. Just be patient, and know that if you keep to the schedule, everything will work out in your favor. Hope you never have to use a service like this, but if you do, FDR will get you out of that hole and back on your feet without all of the negative marks on your credit report.

Updated on 01/21/2023: FDR is a very good program to help you resolve your debt problems. It took us 3 years to resolve over $52,000 in credit card debt. To be honest in the beginning it was a little frustrating. But following their instructions and forwarded creditors to them help rid our lives of the threatening phone calls. Updated on 10/08/2020: We have been trying to raise our draft amount for over a year with no success, both online and when talking to a representative. Other than this frustration the program works and gives you peace of mind, since some creditors are reluctant to participate in the program.
Original Review: Must admit I was impatient waiting for some movement on my case with creditors to cease some of the calls and letters. Well after about 6 months it happen in one week two settlements. This told me yes we made the right choice. This was a breath of fresh air. If you do exactly as they suggest and be patient the program will work and you will be pleased with the results.

I owed too much money, mostly from credit cards. Then one Sunday afternoon, I was fooling with the phone looking for debt relief so they can help me. Freedom Debt Relief came up and I talked to a lady by the name of Elizabeth. I told her I had a Synchrony Wal-Mart card to buy gas off of. It was $12,000 a month and I was keeping it up. Instead of paying $25 a month, I ended up paying 100 every month.
It started out $3.54 a month and I raised it. They kept wanting more money. I sat down and figured out what I could live off of and then I figured I could add $46 more each month to make it 400. What caused it is I made along to a lending club and they wouldn't go higher than 36 months. I ended up having to pay almost $500. Right now, my card is full of gas and I can't buy gas anymore so I'm using my own debit card in the town I live in.
Then, I had credit cards and it kept mounting up. I ended up filing $23,000 worth to be able to live. I kept having some problems with my credit limit and the creditors wouldn't change my FICO. They kept making it worse so I hired Lexingtom Law to get that straightened out for me. But I failed to sign paperwork for the lawyers when they were getting the deal in and that cost me another $12 a month.
When Freedom Debt Relief began to make arrangements to pay some of the debt, I had gone to jump it up and add more, and they're working on it now. Elizabeth set everything up and I rigged up everything else. I love to talk to her and I'm comfortable. She gives me some good information. Everybody else I talked to at FDR have been nice as they could be. Some of them seem to feel the way that I do in some ways. I have had good quality service so far and I'm doing all right. I highly recommend Freedom Debt Relief. If someone is looking for a way to get out of debt, I'll give FDR's number. They can surely help those who need it.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how negotiations have worked out so far. They have cut my debt significantly at the current point. I should have looked into this program sooner. Some of the negotiations were for less than 50% of the total debt.

It was 2013 when Graham and I started the program with Freedom Debt Relief. They had a plan we followed where we deposited $200 a month. As this plan is resolved from our deposit of $259 a month, all debts will be resolved.

While I am happy to say we have reached the first of 3 settlements and that the ball is rolling, I only have one major issue. It’s that I can never get a live person on the phone to actually contact the creditor that now has a collection agency contacting me. I have sent various emails from the creditor with settlement offers but no one at Freedom. Can confirm they have contacted them so now I am worried.

I was asked to provide statements for all of my debts dated the last 30 days then they took amt from old credit report and put a 1700.00 debt as 4500.00. Won't change it correctly. I have been given the runaround. I talked with someone on 8/9 that said he fixed it but my dashboard still shows 4500.00. I told them I would not pay this and they can cancel my account. This is a scam.

Thus far my experience has been positive, however I expected that more creditors would be contacted earlier. I don't know if perhaps it the response time from the creditors or just the way the program works. I have had creditors contact me and one I had to negotiate in court to prevent garnishment. I feel that these circumstances could be avoided if Freedom contacted the creditors initially when the account is in arrears.

I'm very thankful that I was accepted for the program, so I can get the help I needed. One of my debts is going to be paid off very soon. And I'm happy to know that in time the other six will follow and be paid off also. I have been able to be above water now and not drowning in my debts anymore, thanks to the help I'm getting from Freedom Debt Relief. I'm doing much better since I'm getting their help. I have felt a big weight lifted off my shoulders. It had taken me quite a while, as I had been searching for the right company to help me and I was so thankful when I found them and I was accepted, I was about in tears! Seriously!
This has definitely been a hard lesson to learn, even at my age. I had thought everything was going well, but I was mistaken, because even keeping up with the minimum payments on my debts became a struggle for me and I felt like I was drowning in my debts. That is not a good feeling to feel stuck like that! So yes, I'm so very happy that Freedom Debt Relief is helping me with my debts and I actually have a little money to go out to lunch or dinner with my daughter, family member or a friend on occasion now and to buy the groceries that I need, rather than skimping and not having what I need in the house. I ran into a heaping pile of debt and these guys helped consolidate it into a much more managable profile as the payments here were considerably lower than my minimums with my debts, which had become unsustainable due to emergency use. I haven't seen any results yet. I will feel better when things are done. Creditors call every day so it seems that they are not being contacted. I'm not sure we did the right thing about joining debt management.

This is great for those who are behind and just can’t afford to live making current payments but those of us that were doing ok and managing their finances this isn’t for you. Your credit score goes down tremendously. You need to deposit at least $500 a month to make it work for you. If your payments you're making on your debt is more than this maybe for you but I suggest making a minimum of $500 a month.

My credit card bills were too high and I did a lot of searching over the internet. I found that Freedom Debt Relief seemed to be one of the top companies. Their rep walked me step-by-step during the sign-up and helped me through the whole thing. He was really on top of things. And when I had questions afterwards, I emailed him and he called me. I thought it was a great service, which was why I stuck with it. FDR negotiated with all my credit cards and since working with them, I’ve seen a lot of changes pretty quickly. They’re a good company. If I had had any questions or concerns, they’ve got the answers. And they had no problem talking to me for three hours straight. I’ve told my sister-in-law to go talk to FDR and she's gonna get help through them as well.

The Loan Officer that I initially talked to said 1) that I would not have to pay taxes on negotiated balances, Lie #1. 2) He also said the balances would all be negotiated in 2-3 months long before any go into collections, that was lie #2. 3) He also said that the term would never be any longer than 4 years, lie #3. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I REGRET EVER DOING THIS!!!!

I would like to say I was skeptical at first, but I took a leap of faith and went with the program. I was asked to write a review a few days ago which I did regarding Freedom Debt Relief who I've done business with since October 2017. The company did respond and said they would have someone from their organization call me which they did. They left a message and now I've called and left three messages back wanting to speak about my concern but no one has bothered to return my call. Do they really want to talk about it or not. I do have a concern here about how one of the negotiations went with one of my creditors.

The member of our team you spoke with did inform you that we take your concerns very seriously and we did provide your feedback to NLLG. She also reviewed your account to see if there was any possible way to lower your deposits and did let you know the reason why your deposits could not be lowered. What you are requesting for us to do is to help lower your deposits while you have a settlement in place. There is nothing we can do to lower your deposits without putting your settlement in jeopardy. We also went over with you that at the time NLLG presented you with a settlement you had full control of accepting the settlement or not. This is why before we can proceed with any settlements we have to present the settlement to the client and get full authorization before we can move forward with any settlements. We hope you can see that we have been reaching out to assist you with your concerns and that we are on your side. We will continue rooting for you to complete the program and become financially free.

I have been enrolled in this program for a year now. I have had 1 account settled however I ended up paying the entire amount initially owed after the fees charged by FDR. My main reason for enrolling was to handle my Discover card. Not only has there not been any progress but I have also been served legal papers from Discover to appear in court, as they have filed a suit from nonpayment. When I contacted FDR I was told there was nothing they could do for me since I called 4 days after being served!! Yet FDR has taken the agreed upon amount from my account consistently since I enrolled in 2018. I now have more problems than when I enrolled and have yet to see that I have saved in any way thus far.
We appreciate you expressing your concerns, Ms. Merseal, and are very sorry to hear one of the enrolled creditors chose litigation to collect on the balance. However, it's extremely disappointing to hear you feel nothing can be done for you. It seemed like it took a longer time than I expected to get my first settlement, but when I did, a short time later I got my second, and I am so pleased that it is going this well. I had 14 debts enrolled, and at this time, I have 2 settlements. I feel like my goals are in my grasp now.

I've called due to continuous e-mails about signing a release for the firm representing Bank of America account for a year. At least three times I was told to expect the form in several days. The last time I was told it would be mailed in two days. Who am I talking to because I really would like to know what's going on with my accounts. Is the dashboard accurate. This has been going on for a year.

I am very happy to recommend this company for anyone needing some help regrouping. I had to call several times with requests regarding a negotiated settlement. I was told that I could not speak with the negotiator, I was wasting my time even asking the questions because the creditor would not be responsive. I let reminded them that I had another creditor that I owed $15k, they mucked that negotiation up, I took it out of my program and settled it on my own for $3,000. Not sure why I'm wasting my time, paying them and still having to do their job.

I called concerning a letter I received from one of my debts. They were able to answer the question and was told to also send the letter so it would be kept in my file. I was also told just to send any letter I receive from any of my creditors.

This is a nail-biting experience in the beginning. The process wasn't quite what I expected. I'm getting used to the letters and calls from creditors, and what I have to do with them. Still scary at this point, but I'm hoping things will close up soon. I just keep paying my bi-monthly payments, and waiting for the next text to say a loan has been negotiated. So far, the process has been decent.

At first it seems that nothing is being done. Once your deposit balance is high enough the offers start coming in. The NLLG coverage is definitively worth it since not all banks like to work with consolidation services. It costs a bit more but it is worth the peace of mind. But watch out for rules in your state/county for court costs which are not paid by the company.

I am glad I was able to get into this program to help me consolidate my bills, but not too happy when it came time to do my taxes. I received 1099 from creditors that were paid off and didn't realize that I would be taxed on the dollar amount that didn't get paid through your program. This addition of money lowered my refund. That wasn't good.

I joined Freedom Debt Relief way back in 2016 with the impression I would get my debt situation under control. I had a situation I ran into during the hurricane last year and was stuck in another state for 2 weeks, making no money. So I reached out to Freedom Debt Relief. Told them I needed that months payment paused and I also reached out to the creditor in charge of my settlement at Navy Federal. He granted me approval to miss that month's payment and it wouldn’t jeopardize our agreement.
I called freedom debt relief, gave them his contact info, explained everything to them & it would just extend it out a month. They documented everything on my account and assured me it would be handled. Well, freedom debt relief lied, it wasn’t handled. They cost me my largest settlement. When I contacted the gentleman in charge of my account & settlement at Navy Federal he stated no one reached out to him from freedom debt relief and they actually let it lapse more than 2 payments. I was more than halfway done with my payments and now all of my accounts are very small payments being made monthly, only $240 combined. And progress is not being made!
I’ve paid over $15,000 dollars into this account since 2016 have a balance of $600 something and only 3 very small cards have been paid off totally approximately 3k dollars. So my concern is where is that other $13,000 dollars gone to???? Fees? I feel like I could’ve settled this on my own and been done with it at this point and what I’ve paid into this and now the new completion date is 2023???? This is absurd and I feel like it’s a horrible way to steal people’s money who are struggling in debt and trying to repair their credit. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Do research, figure out how to contact these companies and negotiate the settlements yourself!!!!

When I first started I was told they could “most likely” cut all my balances in half if not more... That is no longer the case. I paid for legal coverage because the person setting my account up highly recommended it and when it came time for me to be represented they didn't put up a fight but instead accepted the full amount the creditor was asking for - PLUS I had to pay for their legal fees. Also, I don't have an advisor to talk to on a personable basis about my account but instead have to call a FDR hotline and talk to someone different everytime. It took 3 calls on 3 different days to change my drafting bank account - causing me to overdraft twice from old accounts. Overall just pathetic systems and will absolutely not recommend to anyone I know, I would actually strongly advise against using FDR.

I have heard so much negativity towards what companies like freedom debt does. But I have to say Freedom Debt has been a life savior and they do what they say they will. Customer service is good to an extent. I have had issues where I have been told to call the credit card companies, to get this info or that when it was told that that wasn't a problem they got it and can take care of it. That is about the only thing I can say is not good. The rest I really appreciate the help and all the negotiations. If it wasn't for you guys assisting me through this, I would be in a very bad position right now.. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do!!

Freedom Debt Relief's fees are a lot cheaper. Also, other companies normally just let the money sit there and build up and not pay towards the credit cards. I have seven credit cards. They have settled two, and they are paying on three others. I know it's this whole process, but I wished it was a little faster. I also wished I could put more money into it. But, for the most part, I've been very pleased, and they've always been nice and helpful when I call. The consultant has been nice and kind. She just put everything upfront on how it was going to work and what they do. There had been times I haven't been able to pay the full amount because I've had excessive medical bills. And I've had them to reduce it so that I can try to take care of my medical bills, because I'm trying to prevent other things going into collections. They've been pretty good at working with me on my payment plan. I've recommended them more than once.

They are great. We have settled several accounts. The only bad part is that our credit score is pretty bad, because of the late payments. We have a farm and have a hard time getting our repairs done without credit. But we know there will be a light in the tunnel.

I'm not sure yet as my bank keeps paying them till I go and tell them that the card or company was one of the ones they were not suppose to pay. I have had to go three times to my statement then call the bank and stop the payment. I missed the Citibank one and it got paid by the bank. I guess I thought it was your purpose to watch and take care of the payment once I let the bank know which ones to stop. Guess I was wrong and I have to do it all. So I can't really rate my experience at this time as it isn't very good.

I was feeling trapped in the debt cycle. When it got to the point where we were having trouble purchasing basic needs without using credit, I reached out for help. Actually, first I prayed to God to show me what to do. I found an ad for Freedom Debt Relief and contacted them. The counselor was great in explaining how it would work and setting up a repayment schedule. They have also been so good at reassuring me when I became anxious regarding creditor calls and e-mails. If you feel like you’re drowning in debt, give these folks a call and they’ll throw you a life preserver.

It's amazing how they can negotiate on your behalf, and have your debt settled, sometimes at 1/2 off! Your credit score initially takes a big drop, but it does gradually come back. Your payments, and time period are less. You pay the same, fixed amount each month into a dedicated account.

So far hasn't really helped. Main reason I got into program was to settle my biggest credit card balance. Wasn't settled for less. In fact it got settled for more than it was when I put in program. My credit score tanked and now my wife's is. So far not really satisfied.

Updated on 03/16/2021: I have been with FDR almost 1 1/2 years working off a large credit responsibility. Every step of the way has generated TRUST along the way. There is ALWAYS some to talk to if needed. Explanations are simple and clear. Problems are explained; solutions are proposed and implemented with authorization from me. They work hard to bring down my payments with each creditor. Thanks, FDR.

We were unable to negotiate down 2 of our debts because we're unable to pay more than what we're paying at the moment, but overall, I'm pleased with the way things are going. They have saved us several thousand dollars so far which is a huge help.

FDR's attention to detail is poor as evidenced by their responses to e-mails. Phone reps returned requested calls although had no clue how to resolve the issues. Poor attention to detail caused NLLG to decline handling a court summons because the FDR TEAM failed to respond within the 3 day window... all because they failed to recognize the appropriate account. I had to resolve the matter myself... I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND FDR to anyone.

Amazing customer service and fantastic friendly staff! I see negative reviews about how FDR has fees and it will affect your credit score. First off your credit is already taking a negative hit if your credit cards are maxed out. The goal is debt free! Keep that in mind. Without FDR I would still be making the minimum payments on $82,000 in debt. With FDR I have settled my last debt and I just called FDR customer service yesterday to ask questions about my graduation plan. I highly recommend FDR and remember the goal is debt free! I enrolled into the Freedom Debt Relief program to eliminate my debt without filing for bankruptcy. I made 4 payments into my dashboard account totaling $2,048.00 and they only settled one debt with one creditor for $50.00 for 18 months, however they took a fee for $829.00. My initial conversation with a representative I was told the company only deduct fees after all debts are settled, however it seems like most of your money is being paid to them. I would advise everyone not to participate in any programs with them and if there are any pending class action suits against them please try to contact others like myself. They've already settled several lawsuits for Hundreds of Thousands of dollars.

They have not helped us that much. The program has benefited us like we thought it would. They cannot negotiate all of your debts. Be careful when you consider programs like this. It can help some people, but not all. It's been a little misleading.
