The rep seemed knowledgeable about the job and he answered all my questions. They asked me what credit cards I wanted to put with them, and they listed them. They said nothing under $500, so what I listed was about $8,000. They asked me how much per month I could pay, and I told them I’d be able to pay $200 but that I’d be paying it 100 the 1st and 100 the 15th. They said that it would take longer for me to graduate and asked if I could up it a little bit, so I got up to 125. They’re doing good, but the only one thing is that I don’t understand how they do it. When they make a settlement, they don’t settle and pay up completely. They settle for six payments, but that has nothing to do with me. The rep explained it to me and told me they are trying to keep up with other customers, not to make any of them drop out of the program. Overall I’m satisfied with what they are doing.

Freedom Debt Relief was the first one I saw when I was just looking for somebody to help me with my credit cards and my problems. I never knew that there was such a service and it worked out well. I talked to Kevin and he was fantastic. I was in such a mess, but he helped. He was very kind and explained everything. Also, everyone I talked to was very nice and understood my situation. The only thing I have left is my Discover, which they're working on. And my Citibank is paid off at the end of this month.

I found Freedom Debt Relief through a friend of mine. She had mention that they got her out of debt and so I jumped on it then I woke up in the middle of the night at about 1:30 in the morning to a call. The sign-up process was really good. There were no unanswered questions, everything was all upfront, and I understood everything. They seemed like they were there for me to help me.
They can still improve the customer experience where if it’s something that important, then a phone call would suffice. I get emails saying that I have a settlement at risk for $118. “We can settle this. Can we talk about this?” I’m a union painter, so I’m always on the go and I don’t always check my emails. I’m always running here and there. And at the rare time I check my emails, it’s usually in the night. So, it’s like, “Whoah, I got three emails from them saying that if I pay $118, they can settle one account, whatever.” If they called me then explained to me what’s going on, what could happen, what might not happen, what would happen.
One negative thing was when I got laid off and I couldn’t make my payment, I called at the end of month and the man who answered said, “I don’t know why he’s calling this number asking for me or something like that.” But that was the phone number that I called and it was weird, so I just hung up. So, then, I called back the next day with the 1-800 number and I spoke with someone. I said, “I can’t make my payment.” So, they took three months off of my scheduled payment, which helped me out, ’cause then I got back to work and back on my feet again.

I really liked my consultant with Freedom, Jeremy. He could tell that my situation was really upsetting me. He was very kind and he certainly was not pushy. He wanted me to do whatever I felt like I needed to do. He was very helpful. Freedom figured out my total debt owed and they looked at the income that I had coming in and my outgoing so that they could find a payment plan that I could handle. The only thing that was a little bit of a problem was getting them copies of my last three bank statements. The bank sent the statements to me, but it was in a format that I had trouble getting to them. But I finally managed to get it to them. That wasn’t anybody’s fault though. It was the bank’s choice to use that format. Other than that, with Freedom, I'm less stressed. They’ve already managed to achieve two payoffs. Two of my creditors have agreed to terms that will work out with what we’re doing.

I had debts and I went to National, but I did not like the way they were treating me. And so, I switched over to Freedom Debt Relief. I told them what I could afford to pay and they said, “Great!” They’re doing me a great service, and I am very happy. My credit rating has gone from 500 to 640, and it is still climbing every day.

I do have several accounts outstanding and three have been negotiated. I'm making payments to those three and paying fees to Freedom as well. Of course my credit score is now terrible and I'm really not feeling very good about myself but they keep assuring me this will get better in time. At least anytime I send correspondence to Freedom they do acknowledge it.

Nice to know I can retire debt free, knowing I'll be free of high interest credit cards having the extra money to enjoy however I like, maybe take the vacation I've been dreaming of, being able to help out family or friends in need of a hand up. So glad I didn't have to take out a loan to pay these credit cards off and just be stuck with another monthly payment it can turn into a vicious circle of debt. I looked online for debt services and Freedom Debt Relief was one of the companies I came across, and they had a lot of good reviews. I was impressed with the knowledge they gave about the whole situation on credit cards. It's definitely very helpful. I pay them biweekly and it's been working out great. It's payroll deductible, so it's taken directly from my check and they took care of distributing to the proper accounts.

The company starts out stating so many wonderful things. States that you can be free of debt in months. Well, all their promises were correct but they charged me more interest in consolidating the what I was paying on my cards. It will take me so long to pay them off and I am paying more in interest monthly than on the principal. What a mess! And I can't get out of it!

I have been working with Grace **, she is fantastic. For some time, I have been thinking about, how to resolve my credit card debt.. I've minimized my payments and I'm basically caught up. My credit score has increased dramatically, so it's everything that I was trying to accomplish. I was curious if I was gonna be able to pay that much, but it's worked out. Everything has been extremely professional and helpful. I appreciate the help.

I have been with FDR for a little over a year and I finally decided to get the consolidation loan. I was very pleased with how fast 3 of my 4 remaining debts pending negotiation were settled. I wish I had done it sooner but maybe the settlement amounts offered would have been larger a few months ago. We are on track with what was estimated for the loan and I look forward to improved credit in a fraction of the time because of this progress and this program. Sara was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional with handling the negotiations.

I had a bunch of revolving credit card debt. Freedom Debt Relief and I worked on a plan to get those paid off and taken care of. It worked out great for me. The payment was something that was affordable for me every month, and they worked hard to get settlements done in a timely manner. My debt consultant, Tyler, was amazing. I could contact him any time by email and he would reply within an hour.
At the end, the communication wasn’t that great, trying to find out about my last account with the payoff and everything. I had to contact customer service about three or four times and it didn’t seem like anybody knew what was going on. But everything else was fine. I loved the program. It was great. I couldn’t have done what they did on my own. My credit score is now higher. My accounts are all paid. It’s a fresh, new start.

I have had a good working relationship with Freedom Debt. Questions are answered in a timely fashion with accuracy and honesty. If they cannot assist they tell you upfront with no time delay. I have been in the program for less than a year. Went into program with about 9 creditors. So far 4 have agreed to settlements at savings of over 30%. 1 would not do it at a reduced rate, but agreed to 0% in making future payments.

Due to events beyond my control my debt increased and my income decreased. While handling debt is always stressful Freedom Debt Relief played a big part in minimizing that stress for me. It seems I don't get notified enough if I need to approve a settlement. Freedom Debt Relief was deceitful. They said that they could take care of all my debt within a period of 36 months, and then they come back after 18 months. They wanted me to negotiate a 36-month settlement, which was entirely nothing that we had discussed before. It was supposed to have been taken care of within the 36 original months that we started. The first 12 months were good. I was happy during that particular time. We paid off several smaller debts quickly and we were negotiating anywhere between 40% to 50%, but then it got to a point where the percentage was dropping down where it was like 20% or 30% -- I can negotiate better than that. Stay away from all of the different debt relief people. Negotiate yourself, take care of it yourself, and do it one-by-one situation.

I was happy with the results, but if I had to do this again I think I would try to negotiate with my creditors myself, before I try a debt relief place.Not paying a monthly payment on time really hurt my credit, I think I could have done it without destroying my credit.

So when you call them up and they give you the options, they fail to mention the tax implications, legal troubles, the high settlement fees, etc. The strategy is to delay payments to the creditors (which the accounts accrues penalties and interest) and then they settle for 50% of the balance, which FDR, now takes 25% of your savings as fee. That’s the one part. If you get a creditor (Discover) that will not settle, they take you to court for the balance plus court costs and lawyers. Keep in mind, the difference settled from the creditors is taxed as “income” earned. Expect that sticker shock.
We are truly sorry to hear how disappointed you are with the costs of our program, Mr. Caceres. It is true some creditors are more aggressive than others. Unfortunately, we simply have no way to predetermine the actions creditors will take. However, we offer solutions to our clients that protect them from these said actions. Freedom Debt Relief contacted me at the start of my situation and I just went with them. But later on, I checked and they’re number one rated debt relief company in the country. So, I was very happy with my choice. For other people that’s gonna do this, I would suggest that they read the fine print very well. Everything that they need to know is there. When the negotiations start and the settlement start happening, then there’s a big 20% of enrolled debt that FDR gets as their fee and if you don’t really know that upfront, you'd say, "How come they’re getting so much money? They reduced this debt to 50%, now they’re taking 20% more, so really my debt that got reduced is down to 70%,” which is still good. So, I just had to go back and refocus and say, “I hired them for a reason and promised in four years that the debt is gonna be gone, so just stick with it because that is a good thing.” And once I did that, everything was fine.
I've had several reps that I dealt with and I have nothing but positive to say about all of them. I’ve been through the gamut of negotiations where they pay the debt off immediately, one that was paid over a year, and another one over two years. One didn’t want to settle, so they wanted to sue me. And once it got into litigation, I used the legal aspect of Freedom Debt Relief and that all worked. We can do a settlement really good. The litigation was a warning shot and you gotta act or you'd go to court. And they acted appropriately, came up with two different options for settlement and everything worked to my liking with that regard.
The only thing that could scare some people away is when the creditors start hammering and your credit goes down. I'm sure a lot of people are gonna get scared and wanna pull out. I just stuck with it. One of my debts is settled completely, the other three are in payments over two years, and I got one more to go. So, it has worked for me. So far, I've let other people know what happened and how positive my experience was. They just have be careful for the pitfalls because you gotta know and understand everything that’s happening and be okay with it. Because I was so ready to jump in right away, I did it, and I didn’t really take the time to understand everything. So, that was the only downfall which was my fault, not Freedom’s.
Working with Freedom has given me a light at the end of the tunnel. Because I was under $89,000 of debt and high interest rates, and even though I was making the payments, we weren’t getting anywhere because so much of it went to interest. So I thought I’m never gonna get out from underneath this debt. I’ve gotta do something. And working with Freedom Debt Relief worked and fit perfectly for me.

I have called to get POA papers sent to these people but I only get that it's illegal for them to contact me at work. But I keep getting calls from same two collectors!! If these calls do not stop I will be out of a job.

I talked to a few debt relief companies and the way James from Freedom Debt Relief discussed what my needs were made me swing over to them. The way he talked to me about my situation because I was stressed and the way he eased my mind and let me know what they would do were impressive. Everything went smoothly. They let me cut my payment down in half instead of one payment, and I was appreciative of that because otherwise I could not have done it. The program was perfect. They stayed in contact with me all through the process and when they were ending, they put me in contact with their loan part of it so I could continue on. So, they never gave up. I was looking for help and then I talked to a man there and we talked quite a bit. He explained the whole program and how it worked, and I thought that Freedom Debt Relief was something that I could handle at the time, so that was the one I chose. I really can't say anything good or bad about the program since I have just joined. I however will say the representative has been very helpful and informative. The only thing that I was mis-informed of was that I was told that if I remove some of the creditors that my payment will be reduced, however when I spoke with the enrollment councilor I was told no the payment remains the same. So with that information I was disappointed.

It is taking much longer than was first proposed. However, they are diligent in their efforts to help us eliminate our debt. We were first told it should take two to three years but we've already been in it at least that long and are told we still need another year plus.

Working with FDR has been great. They're on time and they've been taking care of everything. Pretty much everything has been cleaned up but they're in contact continuously. When they reach a settlement, they send it to me and I have to agree to it before they agree to it. They also call to make sure that they're doing what they're supposed to do and if there's anything they can change. They're on top of it and their service has been outstanding so far.

I am happy to say Freedom Debt Relief is the program to be in to get out debt. The staff are very helpful and are there when you need someone to talk to. I was never a person with good budget and had revolving debt I could not get out of alone. They have help me to budget my money better. I started in 2016 and in 2020 I will be done with the program far less that I could do alone. I recommend them to anyone who would like to get out of debt. It is such a relief. I feel I can breathe again.

I called and asked how much my payments would go down to if I removed 4 accounts from my plan. I was given it would go down from $488 to $200. I based my decision on the $200 amount and removed the accounts. Now they reneged on that amount and my payments will remain at $488 until July at which time I’ll have $58 a month to live off of. In July they will go down to $300 a month. I was put on a 4 year plan because I couldn’t handle a 2 year plan but the Litigation lawyers are negotiating creditors with a 2 year plan instead. Sorry I went with Freedom.

Everything started very good but as time went on the communications started to go down. I had a total of 5 people working with me through the process. It became a problem to reach someone. But we got through it. I would recommend Freedom to others.

The reason I went with FDA is because of the commercials on TV. I didn’t want to file bankruptcy, but should have. My monthly income is $766 and after my Medicare, it’s $667. My payment to the loan sharks is $455!! The interest is nearly 24%! Your ads say the monthly payments are “affordable”. I have asked for a reduction in my payment so I can “live” at all. No one got back to me. PLEASE look into my file and see what can be done so I CAN afford these monthly payments. A friend of mine used Freedom Debt Relief several years ago and I remember her telling me that she had a very good outcome, which was why I chose FDR. And whenever I call to find out where I am, I usually get the information that I need. Everything has been looking pretty good, but I’ve been getting letters from attorneys. They’re saying that American Express is filing a suit against me for $6,000. I’ve turned the debt over to FDR and I didn’t know that I would be getting a letter from attorneys to represent me for something that they are handling. I’m not gonna like it if I get summoned to go to court. I don’t have the time and the energy to get up and go several miles away to a courthouse.
I’m also wondering if I could pay less per month. After my husband died, I have this big $280 payment, plus a car loan and everything else. I understand that that’s what FDR needs for me to pay per month to get to the end of this debt, but personally, if I could pay less per month, I’d feel better. I know the account would go on a little bit longer though. Overall, I’m satisfied with FDR, except when the lawsuit with American Express happened.

Freedom Debt made an unpleasant situation to be in much easier and always made me feel secure with any doubts and fears I had. I have been please with everything you guys have done so far. But I was informed through credit karma that several of my creditors have send my accounts to collection and that is affecting my credit. I never received any information stating my accounts were send to collections. Should I dispute this accounts.

Well I’ve just started the program but I will say that this first month the financial burden of not paying all the creditors just paying FDR the one payment has been such a relief! Updated on 04/07/2022: I have graduated from the Freedom Debt Relief (FDR) Program and have settled all my old debt. The Program is GREAT! I feel such a sense of relief knowing that my debt has been resolved through FDR. I can now begin to build my savings and I have a fresh start. The Customer Service Team at FDR is the BEST. Updated on 03/04/2022: The Customer Service Team is always available to answer my questions when I call or email them. When I originally enrolled, I was given an estimate of when my accounts would be settled. The representative I spoke with state it would take a little under 48 months to resolve my debt. He was very accurate in his estimation. I have managed to keep up with my biweekly payments and will complete my program on time within the timeframe I was told initially. Freedom Debt Relief is a great program and I highly recommend it to other folks struggling with debt. I was continually informed of the activity on my account through the Client Dashboard. I could see that bills were getting paid on time and always knew my running balances. Truly a great program with a caring Customer Service Team!

I am retired living on a limited budget. I started using my credit cards to keep up with my daily needs as well as my medical needs. When the credit cards increased their interest rates I found it almost impossible to keep up with their minimum payments. I heard about FDR through an ad and they have been able to clear most of my debts. In less than a year they have been able to settle 3 of my debts and are fastly working on my remaining debts. Happy? Absolutely! It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I highly recommend them.

I was becoming overwhelmed with debt and having a difficult time finding a job that could help me get my bills paid and to able to see a better plan to control my debt. It would be nice to know which accounts are finished and which will be done in 2020. All I see on my account page, are accounts in progress But I cannot put a name to their account numbers. I have no idea which credit card or bank is finished or partially finished. And what accounts are still open. The Clients Dashboard tells me squat. Just how much is left on accounts.

I think at this time if I knew what I do now about this program I would've just filed bankruptcy and taken my lumps. If you don't owe a lot this might be great for some, but if you have multiple creditors or a large amount research other options as this gets EXPENSIVE!!! I have almost doubled my original payments and I need to add MORE money to my account to cover settlement fees. Take the time to look at all of your options if you are looking at getting out of debt before signing up. Read ALL of the information!! I was emotional at the time of signing up with this program (just went through a divorce) and think I jumped into the fire. Remember no one does anything for free.

I have been with this program for about a year and a half and I do not recommend it. Their fees are too high and when you sign up they suggest to pay $12 a month to have a litigation group (NLLG) handle accounts that go into a lawsuit. What is asinine is that even though FDR fails to negotiate a settlement with accounts that are with a creditor’s Attorney, they still collect their astronomical settlement fee even though NLLG (which I am paying for) settles it. What they do is just let the accounts that fall with a creditors attorney just sit there knowing that once they sue, NLLG will handle it and FDR will still collect a settlement fee. I am going to speak to an attorney to go over other options and may just pull the plug on this program. Waste of money and realistically you can probably negotiate with creditors yourself and at least you will not charge yourself crazy fees. But, I am pretty sure they will not publish this because it is true.

Just bad service. Unwilling to work with you during a hard time. Needed to change my payment date this month and they refused to budge even though it it was by just 3 days. Will not get my recommendation. It’s just sad since they started out well but now I haven’t no reason to not believe the other things said about this service.

I'm still trying to understand the fees that are recorded, maybe a little higher than I thought but do think FDR are following their agreement they made with me.

Updated on 06/22/2021: I joined in 2018 & have been very pleased, Freedom Debt Relief keeps in contact with me & has taken care of any concerns I have had. I do feel it takes too long to get a debt resolved, although it's a slow process, my debt is coming down.
Original Review: I'm a year into the program and although things are moving a lot slower than I had anticipated, every time I have a concern or receive a letter from a creditor (and the letters have stopped except for 1) I call or email and always get an answer, and what I'm told becomes a reality. I had never been late on a payment and this has put my anxiety on the highest level, but things seem to be working out as I have been told it would, so I am very pleased with FDR so far.

I use Credit Karma to keep track of my credit scores, and I saw Freedom Debt Relief ad on there. I needed to consolidate some bills, so I reached out. I called and talked to them, and they seemed to be the best fit. They negotiate all with my creditors, and I am very pleased with the service and the program that they have me set up on. The payment plan was a fit for me. Once I sent in all the information on the ones I would like for them to handle, they came back and let me know what it would cost and if it would work. It was going to be every two weeks, which would pull it off. And I said, “Could we do it twice a month or on certain days,” and they worked with me on that. I pay twice a month and it is one set price, so it all worked out. I also loved my consultant. She seemed very knowledgeable about the whole program and she was very helpful. Overall, working with them has made it a lot easier in that I have a little extra a month to live on.

The consultants are doing a good job and everything is fine. Most of the time, I just look at everything in what they are sending me because I trust the company to deduct the amount and everything else. They do a deal for me. I like their policies better when I was reading up on different ones. The program, which I'm at least half way, was good. They helped me get out of debt faster. They were awesome, very thorough with everything and very attentive. They also worked with a date I could make the payments and they were within how much I could afford.

Updated on 09/23/2020: We had a lot of unsecured debt and were drowning when I contacted Freedom Debt Relief. It's taking time and persistence but we now are getting our settlements and improving our credit score. Still really strapped while trying to get all the debt paid off but will be done in 4 years. So the lady that helped me helped a lot. She was super friendly (on my last call) BUT, everyone else I have talked to have honestly been really snobby towards me and angered me. Also the fact that I've paid you guys enough to settle my debt with one of the accounts but you guys let them garnish my checks and then also took money from me leaving me with $50 to pay rent, buy groceries, buy insurance, etc. has been insanely heart breaking. I make enough that I shouldnt be broke on payday.

Freedom Debt Relief was referred to my by someone and everything has been good. If I call and have a question, they give me a response in a timely manner. They have arranged any type of payoff that they could at the time, so everything seems to be positive so far. They stayed within the budget for the payment plan, and they set it at a reasonable amount.

They do not proactively settle accts. They wait for the creditor to contact them. They charge a monthly maintenance fee. Your balances continue to accrue fees until settlement. Their percentage for settling each acct is a separate charge. They arrange payments rather than lump sum to pay each acct. Refer to BBB website. If you sign up with them go through the legal jargon rather than letting them rush you through the process.

Creditors are only willing to settle once the account has been delinquent and they see that you are in financial hardship. The settlement fee and bank fees are all listed in the Debt Resolution Agreement, so we do our best to make sure this information is understood when clients enroll. The person I spoke with was extremely knowledgeable about the Loan Consolidation procedure offered by FDR's sister company. I explained my reasoning for wanting to halt the process, and the agent thoroughly explained why people took the loan, and why it was good for them. He sent the loan group a cancel email, and assured me it was done, that no further action need be done by me. FDR once again showed me ya'll are a professional company doing business "the right way".

The lady who helped me was patient, efficient and friendly. She explained which accounts are settled and the balance owed on the remaining accounts. She also told me how many payments were made on closed accounts and how many it would take for each bill to be paid off and the total remaining payments timeframe.
