Overall I am very dissatisfied with the program and am planning to begin the process of finding alternative solutions to the program. Disappointed in the lack of progress on my accounts after being in the program for over a year.

It was explained to me well. I also didnt put into account that if I would have stayed with credit cards my payoff would have been more. I now understand better how it works. I had forgotten some of the details how you guys pay off the debt.

Started out fine. Then when I didn't see any action taking place I was told they were waiting until my dedicated account built up funds. Deposits I was making to Freedom. By the time they started negotiating I had two creditors take me to court. One I negotiated with and had to pay them on top of my deposits to Freedom. The other one was granted garnishment of my wages. Now I'm making deposits to Freedom and paying a settlement myself AND getting my wages garnished. At this point I contacted Freedom and told them I quit the program because I couldn't afford to put money out to them along with the other two.
I still had money in my dedicated account and was told I would get money back minus their fees. Which was around $100 a month. I had around $388 left in my account and when I called and asked when I'd get my money back I was told there was nothing left because of fees I owed. So magically it went from $100 fees to $388! My advice? Don't do it unless you enjoy going to court and giving your money away to Freedom.

Updated on 03/07/2022: Freedom has done everything that they said they would do for me. If you lots of credit card debt, Freedom is the company you want to negotiate that debt to be reduced. A+ company. I'm 2 years in and they have only 3 more credit cards to negotiate for payments.
Original Review: My wife has MS. She was diagnosed in 2010. Over the years our credit cards got out of control. Buying medical equipment, co-pays and out of pocket costs. We were both retired and I had a part time job. We had to rely on credit cards to make ends meet. I got an email from Freedom and checked it out. Everything was explained in understandable terms. My wife and I decided to go with their program and could not be happier that we did. Great people and great program. I would recommend this program to anyone in deep debt. They are working on getting our $36,000 debt resolved.

Overall I'm satisfied with the experience but I was hoping that some of the card debt would have been negotiated a little better. With none being negotiated with one card and to pay the full balance and one that was totally a confused mess with being paid.

I feel I was misled from the beginning. I was told credit score would increase in 6 months. Well, it went down and then I was asked to take a loan to get it done faster which would have cost me way more money. So at this moment credit-wise, I am worse off than I was before the process.

I am most satisfied overall however the large synchrony debt of over $5k is causing credit report problems. We need to address this debt quickly. Plus I was told before I signed the target of 48 months to satisfy my debts was doable however it has been extended 11 months with is most disturbing.

Despite multiple conversations FDR did not contact Buffalo Credit Service Credit Union in time. I ended up having a judgment against me that has had a very negative impact on my credit rating, The same almost happened again with BSCU but I settled it myself. I should have been told from the beginning that they would be very difficult to deal with and that I should work with them directly. I have now almost doubled my monthly payment in hopes of completing this program sooner.
We're sorry to hear about the experience had with one of the enrolled creditors. It is frustrating when a creditor chooses litigation to resolve a balance. We generally have a sense of how aggressive they may or may not be based on past experiences. Supplementing funds is a sure way to accelerate your Graduation Path. Not happy. I feel you don’t start out deposits enough and companies aren’t contacted and worked soon enough till the bills get higher from late fees, till they take you to court. Happen twice. Stuck with more than 1200.00 more than I started from and have to pay the total. I’m afraid it’s going to happen to the rest of them and I might had been better on my own. You know these companies And should have spent time on them first so this would Not happen. I’ve upped my month deposit already.

Since starting the process, I have gotten 3 of 6 settlements, and I couldn't be happier about it. Most importantly, everyone has the time to speak with me, answer any questions I may have, and assuage my concerns and fears. To consolidate all outstanding credit card debt that was never going to be paid off due to their predatory lending practices. FDR helped negotiate and I saved 50% on over charged interest fees. Also went from 10 year payoff to 3 years.

Since starting with FDR I’ve been able to rebuild my credit and learn how to be more financially responsible. It’s worth looking into if you’re having troubles making ends meet. It’s not hard getting started and they’re there 24 hrs. A day if you have any questions.

I am grateful for the wonderful, helpful experience I've had with FDR. It has assisted me in finally getting relief from debts that as a senior was leaving me with nothing to live on. FDR has been my saving grace as a senior from living a depressing life. It has not been easy but this help relieved me from greedy creditors harassing me. Calling my phone all day and sending threatening letters. I pray that God will bless me financially so that I can complete this soon cause it's a challenge to give up $402.00 from a SS monthly benefit when your other necessities far exceed the little that's left. Debt was greatly reduced when a solution was reached before getting court papers (very nice). However, when one of mine went to court I ended up paying $100 dollars more than what I owed because of legal fees associated to the case. I think it all balances out in the end but would have liked to have been told that there is a chance the legal fee might wipe out the savings I thought I was getting.

I like many had way too much debt, and I was drowning. I work two jobs and am a single parent. I felt like every check was stretched to the limit. Progressing steadily! It has been difficult, especially in the beginning. I was not used to ignoring my debts. Finally I relayed a bit and was able to breathe! I would definitely recommend Freedom to others! The customer service, when you call, is great and take the time to answer questions. I have had the opportunity to speak to a couple different representatives and they have all been wonderful. I do not recommend the "chat" feature. The two times I attempted to use the feature it felt like the person was trying to push thru the questions quickly without providing full information.

I have only been in this about 8 months and I am seeing relief and less stress. It is really helping me. I have a little more cash to work with. Updated on 09/02/2021: The reps are great. Every time I've called in, they've always helped me with my problems, and it's been wonderful. They told me I would graduate by 2021, but now, it's looking like 2024. I've had a lot of problems because I was living with my grandmother. I became her power of attorney and added her debt to the program. The debts were mainly her debt, to begin with. We had $19,000 in debt enrolled in originally, and not even 5,000 of them were mine. We lost our house last year and I had to postpone my payments for a couple of months and they were great about me doing that.
My grandmother went to stay with my brother, and in the meantime of us looking for a new place to live that was safe, my brother took the power of attorney and stopped paying her portion. What we did was for the first year or two, everything came out of my bank account, then we switched it to her account when I was having issues with my account, even though I was giving her the money. My brother put a stop to it, so the payment didn't go through for the one month and I thought, "Well, why not?" I had no clue what was going on. Nobody communicated this to me.
When I called saying that I got the notice, they told me, and I called my grandmother. I told Freedom Debt Relief, "All right, take her debts off of my program." They did, but then, they didn't lower my payment, so I was still paying the same 312 a month. I thought, "I can't swing this on my own." I had to postpone the program until I could swing it then I still couldn't swing it. I got a notice saying that my program was behind, if I could just make the 258 payment. That, I can swing, so I called and told them I got that email, then they lowered the payment to 258 and I've been doing okay. The dashboard is very self-explanatory, and I'm on there at least once a month usually. Overall, I love the program, and I'm almost done with it.
Original Review: I have come a long way in my debt relief journey and FDR has been a huge help in that journey. Before I enrolled in the program I was struggling to make all my payments on time and even pay all my bills. Now I have money to pay all my bills on time and even have money left over each month.

So far everything has been done what they said they will do. I am very happy with Freedom for helping me get out of debt. I can breathe a little easier that I have Freedom on my side. I can actually have time with my grandkids and not feel I will go broke if I get them a ice cream.

Freedom Debt Relief has been a godsend to me. I stupidly got myself in over my head with unsecured credit card debt. I called FDR and they come up with an easy plan for me to reduce and get rid of my debt completely. Set up a payment plan and make sure you keep up with it. FDR will take care of the rest for you. Checking on graduation time. I talked with Eric and Bob. I did a final installment set up with Eric to finalize my last payment. He sent a confirmation e-mail to me. I called back and talked with Bob about some info on the e-mail. He reassured me that everything was good. Only bad news they gave me was that the last creditor could wait for 180 days before clearing my record.

The initial discussion with your representative was, in my opinion, deceiving and misleading. I am displeased with the issue that I was instructed to not pay on any account but FDR then allowed them to go to great delinquency. It has been very difficult to establish any semblance of good credit for now. I have taken over three of the accounts and working with the credit companies while letting FDR handle the rest.

I have been in the Debt Relief program for around 10 months and already have had 4 of my debts resolved. I cannot believe how fast the negotiators have worked on my behalf. I was a little hesitant and afraid in taking that first step to commit to the program, but the customer service is fast and efficient in answering any questions and concerns I have. I also enrolled in the Legal Advice program (NLG) and that also really has been a great help. I still have a way to go, but I feel confident in knowing that there is light at the end of the Debt tunnel, and hopefully within the next two years I will be able to see the light again!!

Updated on 02/03/2023: I joined the program a couple of years ago and you cleared 7 out of 8 accounts. I am going to try to clear up the rest of the accounts I have. Thank you for your help. This will help me because of my accident last year It really messed up my finances. I was in the hospital and went by ambulance and was there a week. I just barely got the ambulance bill!

I thought that my credit will rise but I see that my credit will be impacted until the Bills are paid. What I mean even though some have been Negotiated others have not which affects my score. If I've known this I would probably have tweeted some things.

I called to make sure I was right about one of my cards had been settled. I got my question answered right away and told me how I could find that off. She then asked if I had other questions. Well I didn’t think so but then we started to talk and she asked to log in to the dash board and she walked with step by step to show me how to look things up and explain what each one was. Don't believe their misconceptions. I entered with 5 accounts. 3 of the accounts (so far) were settled at a HIGHER amount than what I entered!!! Read that slowly - the amount they "settled" on is higher than my debt joining this company!! Don't do this. My credit and life are ruined. I have 7 children and I could finance anything I wanted when I joined. However I got in over my head and FDR said, "We can lower your debt." The first debt we settled on worked well - then the next two I ended up getting sued and had to use their litigations team - they are worthless and don't fight for you - they simply give the creditor what they want. Bottom line you end up paying more than when you entered the program AND your credit life is trashed. I cannot even get my car fixed when it breaks down now because my credit has gone to UNDER 500!!!
Let's move on the 3rd "Settlement" - when I entered the program my debt for this company was $2,874. Eight months later they offered me a settlement of $2,199. So to save $675.00 - I am expected to jump for joy because they're "saving me money" while ruining my life. My kids are suffering so bad right now. This is because you are still making payments to FDR as if you were still paying your companies - but they promise to lower your debt and help you. LIES LIES LIES. My family is eating Ramen Noodles for dinner and FDR is not who they say they are. At least I could still use my credit cards to help take care of my kids before signing up for this life ruining program! THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST LIFE DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE. We are suffering and are now in poverty because of false enticements from FDR. DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP. Feel free to contact me for proof - I urge you to stay away from this company.

The representative did not clearly explain how the fees were calculated. Upon review, I feel that I can make the same arrangement with my creditors as this company has made. I figured that using the fee structure they use, I paid 100% more in fees than I would have if I handled the negotiations myself.

I have had trouble with other accounts closing that were not on my list. When I was going to use my card at Victoria Secrets, the said account closed due to Freedom Debt Relief but I think it's owned by a bank. Have all my credit cards calling me saying my payment is due and late payments. I always paid my bills on time and sometimes I wish I never did this. My credit score is way down and do not know if my credit will never be repaired. I never expected this. I have all my creditors calling me.

The agent was very helpful but it was hard for him to find a payoff balance. Even an estimate was hard to get. It took him almost 30 mins to send me a letter for a balance I needed. I talked to 2 different agents and the first one sent me the wrong thing after asking his support what to do. Then the 2nd one didn’t know how to go about it but figured it out.

His good manner and approach made us feel comfortable to tell him about our real situation, so that he was able to help us choose the best option.
In the end, we decided to go with a program called negotiated debt settlement. Bryan was there through the whole process until we got enrolled in the program. With this program, Turnbull Law Group - a partner of FDR, will negotiate with our creditors/lenders to make settlements. They will set up a special account where we put our monthly deposit to eventually pay off all of our debts. We can choose the amount we can afford every month as well as the time period that is comfortable for us. Today, we just received our Welcome Guide! I had received an email for approval and emailed my choice. I then received the same email again. I called Freedom Debt Relief to see if my approval had not been received. I spoke to a young man who was very helpful. Everything was in order.

Updated on 03/17/2020: Freedom Debt didn’t seem like some fly-by-night internet spam or Facebook spam-type thing because it was on TV. It seemed a bit more legitimate. And when I spoke to them, they didn’t seem shady. They weren’t like, “Send us all your money and then we’ll work it out.” Also, making payments and stuff seemed a bit more legitimate. Naturally, if you pay them all at once, then it gets paid off faster.
Two of my debts have been completely settled. And then there are five that we’re working on that are payment-based, because they make a payment arrangement. However, I didn’t realize that they were just going to make payment arrangements because they made it sound like, “Okay, you get $500 into the account then we call them. We’re gonna settle this for $500 and then, bam, it’s off your credit. And then you build up again and then they settle.” Because with them making payment arrangements, it's gonna take quite a while for this to take place.
One of them that they just made for me the other day is a year-long payment arrangement. It’s going to be 10 payments long and I was hoping to have this all done by the summer of next year. And just the way that they’re going, that one’s gonna take a year and then it will take six months to drop off your credit. So, I really wish that they wouldn’t settle for small payments over so long of a time. I've put in almost $400 a month so I’d rather have them let me build it up, pay one off completely and be done with it, because then it will drop off in six months. But now, they have to pay for six months and then it takes six months to drop off.
They’re very nice people. But when I asked, “How do you pay them off?”, nobody said to me, “We make payment arrangements.” It seemed they skirted the issue. Because then, when they made the first agreement, I called them up and said, “Hey, are you guys always gonna be making a payment arrangement?” Then once again, they skirted that questioning, “Oh, well, you know...” and I said, “No, I wanna know” because I would’ve taken my taxes and given them $5,000 and been, “Pay off as much as you can.”
I understand that they don’t want people to get discouraged, but they need to answer the question honestly. If I asked, “Are you gonna make payment arrangements on everything,” it should be, “Yes, that’s what our policy is.” They told tell me this could take a few years depending on how much I was putting in so they let you know it’s gonna take a while, but they don’t give you all of the information. But other than that, they get the job done.
Original review: Great service. I can't believe how quickly my credit is being repaired. Weekly, I am getting notification that my credit is going up!! It will take just over 2 years for all of my debt to be paid off and then I will be able to buy my first home!!!

Been in for 5 years and nothing is really happening, have cancer and can't afford to keep paying, so probably going to have to discontinue the program, was told 36 to 48 months and there is no end in sight.

STAY AWAY!!! If you find yourself contemplating utilizing this agency, PLEASE run from this agency like it's the plague!! We enrolled multiple accounts to be consolidated in 2016 and busted our tails to pay off debts early. We got to the point of also dealing with the creditors on our own as we could get the same if not better payoff agreements WITHOUT paying the roughly 21% service fee FDR charges. We ended up with one final account that was enrolled with FDR where the agency would not work with us and required a structured settlement... no big deal. We paid that settlement off in early fall 2018. We were told we would have to wait until December 2018 for this account to be verified closed and enable us to graduate the program... earlier than our original graduation date.
Since December 2018, we have contacted FDR on multiple occasions inquiring as to why we haven't graduated, why there is still a pending account, why our dedicated account for our settlements is still populating delinquent funds since they charge you to have their bank account used to pay settlements open. The answer is always the same: "We are waiting on the creditor to clear the payment (still, since 2018), I'll elevate this so it gets done as soon as possible, it shouldn't be any more than 30 days and we'll close you out and you'll graduate program." It's the same language EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Multiple times since Dec 2018. Completely unprofessional and unsat!!! This should have been taken care of OVER a year ago. So, PLEASE run from this agency and handle your accounts yourself. It's not that hard and the creditors WILL, most of the time, work with you.
