I love Freedom Debt Relief. When I was over my head in credit card debt I called. I had instant relief when I signed up. I stopped worrying. They explained everything. What would happen. One bill a month.. The big thing that happened was no more credit cards. I had to live within my means. I would have to wait to get something I needed. I will never open a credit card again. I can live without them. Peace of mind.

This is my second month in the program and I am still not sure that I have done the right thing but was overwhelmed with the debts and lack of ability to pay them. I think when I get to pay off the first debt it will help me and encourage me to move ahead.

Debt reduction was not all that great. I could have settled it for less and not paid your high fee. I waited about 6 month to FDR to settle a debt I could have paid off originally. They saved me about $100. Then it was like they did me some big favor and charged me their high fee for it.

I was at times skeptical of how this works. But if you follow the plan, make the payments, and provide the information they need it will work. Your debt gets taken care of and your credit score will improve. If there's a hiccup along the way, just work with your rep and they will get things resolved with you.

You did not take responsibility with my last billing with Navy FCU. You had it on your books for over 2 years then all of a sudden I get a call from a District Attorney telling me I owe more now than what my original bill because of the interest that was added on. So now I'm stuck for another two years of payment with interest.
We never intended to disappoint you, Mr. Manuel. Please know there is no benefit in keeping clients enrolled longer than needed. We share the common goal of progressing you through the program as quickly as financially possible. Unfortunately, some creditors are more aggressive than others. Huge misunderstanding about when and how creditors listed would be contacted. I understood immediately, however, 4 months into the program I'm told something totally different. At this present time I have been summoned to be in court, which is probably the reason I decided to join Freedom Debt Relief in the first place. Haven't heard from the support team yet. My court date is August 9, 2021.

I am very happy so Far with the Process. However, the Settle Fees that are additional to the Payoff Amount of the Settle that is Reached is a little Misleading. I understand I am paying less ultimately, but don't list the Settled Amount without Additionally Adding it with the Settlement Fee. It's misleading and not Accurate. My Credit Score has Suffered A lot, but understand it's necessary for the End Game.

Original Review: Happy so far, have some relief from trying to figure out how to satisfy my credit card debts. I am resting easy, some very old debts more than 10 yrs old are cropping up from collection companies that bought the debts that no longer show on my credit report.

Let me begin with I don't blame FDR (Freedom Debt Relief) for the financial situation I got myself into. With that said if I could go back and do this again I would not go with FDR. I started this journey with FDR 4 years ago. The first two years were not too bad and they were saving me money with some pretty decent settlements. After the first two years things went downhill fast. It started to feel like FDR was not communicating with my remaining creditors. I don't think they have a very good process for keeping creditors at bay while they wait to negotiate a settlement.
It wasn't long and I started getting court servers coming to my door to hand me lawsuits. My last 5 or 6 settlements were all lawsuits. When you are served a lawsuit FDR turns it over to NLLG to represent you. You are at the mercy of what they tell you and the law firm suing you pretty much sets the terms for the settlement. I was usually given two options. If you could afford to deposit more money to pay them off sooner they might give you a small break on the settlement amount. For the most part the settlements were about the same as what the balance was at the time of enrollment because the amount they would sue you for included charges that accrued during the two prior years.
This is the point when I started realizing how much of a rip-off this was. I really can't tell you how FDR was coming up with the settlement fees but you would think if they didn't save you much the percentage they take would be much lower but it wasn't. If they can take the fees right away they will but if there isn't enough money in your account they add it to the monthly payments. FDR does not list this separately so when you total up the remaining amount owed on the accounts you have left, the amount is actually higher and you don't know what it is unless you call FDR and have them tell you.
At that point there is no way to know if it's accurate or not. The fact that they only list the total settlement and not what's left to be paid on the fee makes it seem very shady. There is no way for you to track it so you are relying on what they tell you. One of their reps told me they are going to change that on the dashboard so you can track it. As of today that has not happened.
But wait, it gets worse. They constantly tell you in their monthly emailed newsletters that you can call and increase your deposits to graduate early. Several months ago I made a one-time deposit to move up my graduation date. They happily took the money but my graduation date never changed. Now I have enough money in my account to completely pay off my last two settlements but I can't get FDR to pay them off. They tell me the settlement agreement has to stay as is including the upcoming payments and they can't just pay it off at once. In the meantime they say I have to continue my monthly payments of $1650. They claim they will adjust that amount if I call in each month until the original graduation date. It's obvious they want to keep charging the monthly fees for your account and fees for the monthly payments.
I have called them 3 times in the last month trying to resolve this. The last time I called in I was very frustrated with the rep I was talking to. When I asked to speak with a manager I was put on hold 3 times while they tried to locate one. Eventually I was told they were all in a meeting and were not available. The rep assured me they would not tell me anything diff than he already had. I then asked him to take down my phone number (as if they don't have this in my account info) and have one of the managers call me back when they were available. He told me they were too busy to call me back today. Fabulous customer service from a company I have paid a lot of money to.

They were understanding of what the problem was and how I got in that situation. Also, they were willing to work with me on a solution that was manageable and that didn't put me in a total bind at the time. I found it to be a very smooth process with Freedom. I missed one debt that I should have included in the initial package and I very easily enrolled that into the package. That was six months into the process and it didn't have a detrimental effect on the total solution.

I don’t feel like I was told the absolute truth by the man I spoke with prior to me signing the agreement. He told me it would take more than likely with my amount of debt approximately 2 1/2 to 3 years to complete the program. I’ve even increased my monthly payment to $400.00 per month. I've been sending in $374 to Freedom for many years. Now, I only have $8,000 to pay and I'm sending $400 twice a month so I can get that debt out of the way. Freedom keeps the money in a bank until it reaches a certain amount then they add another account. Now that I know what I know, Freedom's rates are ridiculously expensive. I don't like the way they do things but I’m too far into the program to leave. Freedom should tell you verbally what they are gonna charge for exactly everything. If I could have gotten it cheaper myself, I would have gotten it.
Also most of the time when they called, I was angry. They called three times a day to try to reach me and it was obnoxious so I had to block all their phone calls. They’re trying to get more information. If I don't wanna talk to them, I don't have to talk to them. I'm usually pretty angry when I do finally call them because I'm scared mostly. I feel like I’m afraid to call them because of all the times they're trying to get a hold of me. They don’t text or email me. They texted before and I had to block every single number. There were so many numbers that they had. I told them to quit calling me as there was no reason for them to do that. They also sent something in the mail twice a month. Other than that, Freedom was flexible and everybody was really nice. They related to me well.

I would have given you a 5 star rating but I was misled by your representative when I called and asked how much I would have to pay to get this paid off she told me $4930.14 and that was after you took my $566.00 out on the first of the month asked her to take the the remaining balance out and she said it will be taken out July 7, 2021, which it was. She also said that no more money would be deducted from my checking anymore because I am paid in full and I would receive some kind of statement or diploma.
I called and spoke to a representative and was not pleased with my answer so I asked to speak with a manager. Alexis ** (not sure I spelt her last name right) and she said that more money would be taken out of my checking account on the first of the month, I asked why being I paid the account in full and she said because that's a scheduled payment.
We were on the phone for quite a while and then she said she could defer the payments for September and October with my permission. So I checked in on my client dashboard and found I have a balance of $4351.18, the next settlement is for $2844.00 your fees are $1195.58 which leaves a Balance of $311.60 of which are probably more fees. So I can't understand why more money has to come out of my checking account being this is the last settlement and I paid in full. I have recommended you to all my friends if they needed to go to debt relief.
I was so happy that I chose Freedom because you helped me a lot. But now I'm a little displeased because I was told I had to call in September and October to check and see if more money is coming out of my checking account. I paid in full because I retired and I'm moving out of state and I'm trying to pay off as many bills as possible. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. If this didn't happen you would have gotten a 5 star rating because I was more than happy with doing business with your company.

Since the beginning I’ve let Freedom do everything and it is almost over. They have negotiated 5 out of 6 of my creditors with one more to go and now I see the light at the end of the tunnel. They have been so helpful getting this nightmare ended.

Settlement was terminated because I was $35 short in my account. Instead of notifying me settlement was terminated! Poor way to do business in my estimation! All it would have taken was some communication on your part and this could have been avoided!

Updated on 07/06/2022: They have been very helpful thru the whole procedure - I did not know what to do with so much debt and no way to pay, someone suggested FDR and I called being very skeptical at the time. After talking to someone I felt so much better, relieved in fact. They talked me thru everything in words I could understand. Have been available whenever I have a question. I was swimming in debt due to no fault of my own but a situation that forced me to overuse my credit cards. Getting to a place where my payments would only pay down to be below the maximum then having interest and fees added tho push me back over the limit wasn’t working. I finally turned to Federal Debt Relief for help. Not only were they understanding and incredibly helpful in helping me restructure my debts, but the negotiations with my creditors and subsequent payments have significantly reduced my debt and my outgoing cash flow. Two of my debt creditors have already been paid off. My life is significantly less stressful, and I feel I am moving forward again. I have been in the program for 20 months and paid in $30,000. Now I'm getting sued by Amex and FDR has shown no help in negotiating or sending Amex any money. I was told to speak with the included legal team and left to deal with this on my own.

I intentionally, and on FDR's promise to pay off 2 accounts once I made the deposit, put in $10k and FDR refuses to do a one time payment but instead wants to take 36 months to clear this off of my credit history.

You’re taking too long to get this settled. I could’ve been already out of debt by now if use would’ve if I would’ve paid them off myself. I’m not very happy with use. One thing I will say is I love the ideology of having the client dashboard that displays the information but more communication needs to be established between all parties. I’ve had to make several different phone calls and each employee was very kind and sweet but the information was maybe communicated to destination but wasn’t reciprocated which could have helped me understand the current situation. Updated on 04/09/2023: Always secure in my data. Also when a creditor tried to backdoor the process FDR stopped them and beat them in court. I would recommend this service to anyone. I even had to slow down after loss of job They are accommodating me.

My experience was horrible in that I was sued on two of the three items to be covered on (told maybe a 25% chance on that), constantly had to update the company with whomever had my debt, never felt like anyone was settling anything until I had done most of the legwork with information. Maybe it works for more people. The shot to the credit report....just not worth the experience of being served for the first time in my life.
Best advice? Never borrow money (loans, credit cards) you can't pay back. My loan settlement is me paying back the exact amount owed because (fees from strategically holding out) of fees and interest. In the end, I paid Freedom Debt Relief to just cut even with the debt company and an additional $5,000 to FDR. I hope there's never a next time because my experience, aside from the legal help for "free" ($12 a month), was horrible. I appreciate what they could do but I felt, in the end, I came out worst and looked like a giant clown when I was served not once but twice.

The Barclay bank account was dragged on for an extremely long time. I feel this could have been handled in a much more efficient way and that they only reason it dragged out was so that you could collect more fees from me. This has been a negative experience for me and I wouldn’t recommend anyone going thru any debt company if they can possibly help it. My credit is in the toilet and I’m 75 years old. I will never have good credit again.

We received excellent service, professional, always letting us know what was happening with our account. Available any time if we had any questions or concerns. System was easy to connect to and easy to send information on accounts. Whenever we would call they showed concern and were very professional yet caring. They were able to get our payments where we could afford them and still get all paid off in a reasonable time frame.

Sued twice by the same creditor. FDR unwilling to negotiate their settlement fees due to this….Did not save a dime by the time I paid fees plus income tax on the “write off”. Sorry I ever enrolled. I’m sure you will post this one…

Every time I had contact with an employee from Freedom Debt Relief they were knowledgeable and helpful. I never got off the phone with an unresolved issue. When emailing them they were also very responsive. I never had to wait long for a response.

I am not sure that I would go through this experience again as it is taking much, much, longer to pay off the creditors. I would prefer two to four years instead of five or more years. I think negotiation process takes way longer than it should. But, Freedom Debt Relief is saving me a great deal of money and helping me to be a better spending consumer.

Freedom has been fantastic, super clear, and helpful. We've been very happy. We're paying a lot more. We don't have time to deal with sorting things out and we appreciate the convenience factor of Freedom dealing with everything for us. I've had a couple of lawsuits filed against me from some creditors and Freedom was quick to transfer me over to the legal team and handle things quickly. Everything seems well thought out and easy to deal with. The one thing I don't like is the constant recommendation and messages to enroll old debts they found from 20 years ago.

I feel that my experience with Freedom Debt Relief has been an overall poor one. The amount that is charged in settlement fees is excessive. When you do the math your savings don't add up. The cost of paying the monthly payment on your debts is $10.00, when you multiply that times the number of payments it amounts to a cost of $300.00 to $400.00 dollars more you pay. I have requested the removal of a couple of my debts and have been ignored. I have one debt that is being paid only $1.00 for the first nine months despite the availability of funds which could be paid due to my increasing the amount of my original monthly deposit by over $200.00, the explanation I was given to justify this did not make sense. I realize in the end this is the price I am paying for allowing myself to get in such a poor financial condition. I look forward to the end of this and becoming debt free.
We regret to hear you are disappointed with the costs of our service, Ms. Lula. We do take a fee, but not until a debt is resolved. The size of the monthly payment is also a factor, as our program payments are often much lower than the required monthly minimum from creditors. This allows clients some cash-flow relief immediately along with lower costs in the long run, even when accounting for our fee. Also, the lower the payments we make to the creditors, the greater our chances of obtaining more settlements, expediting your path to financial freedom. You have good service. Your wait times are long but that is everywhere. There was one item that was handled incorrectly and it resulted in a lawsuit being filed but National Litigation is handling. I would recommend to a friend.
