Creditor sued and garnished my bank checking account. I was calling in to find out the status of negotiations with this creditor and inform FDR of garnishment. FDR responded that someone would be in contact with me shortly. I have not heard anything yet but I am hoping it will be soon.

I am very pleased with the service FDR has provided in settling my debts, with one exception. While in the process of negotiating different smaller debts and getting settlement smaller than the amount owing, however, they left the largest debt unaddressed until the very end. In that time interest and penalties caused the $10,000 credit card debt to become over $14,000. It was given over to a debt collector who refused to settle for anything but a full amount payoff. So now most of the money I saved with the settlement of all the other debts has disappeared. I feel they should have dealt with that matter sooner!!

Thought I’d be further in the process. Have items sitting in collections that won’t negotiate. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been super helpful and nice. Had settlements I lost that are not wanting to renegotiate. I understand I have to pay more to negotiate quicker but when I’m paying almost $600 a month already the way the economy is it’s hard to pay extra.

Well I have one item that needs to be addressed. A couple of years ago I called in to find out what I could do to expedite the matter. Then I was told by a Rep that I needed to have 25% in the account for them to be able to reach out and make an offer. I had called be called because I was being harassed by the company that was trying to collect. They also made me an offer of 6k to settle the account. All this info was passed on to FDR. So I waited until there was way more than the 25% and called in a couple of months ago. Since that time I have been given the runaround. Even one of the Reps failing to document my concerns. It was the second or third time that I reached a Rep that documented my concerns and advised me that she would send an email to elevate my case. After getting no email or response from anyone and after a few more weeks I called in again and reached a gentleman that really helped and seemed to get things rolling.
However this time I was told that I would have to have 11k in the account before a settlement could be sought. This is 5k more than the original offer the company that was seeking restitution was asking. However I understand that no negotiation has happened yet and it still could be settled for less. Nonetheless the extra 5k was not what I was expecting to hear and I really felt this was a way to keep me in the system and gather $758 a month from me. I feel my case has been overlooked to some degree and hope it still can be negotiated for the 25% I was originally told by you. Thanks in advance.

I was presented with a much quicker time frame for resolving my debt when presented with this as an option. I would of probably made a different decision based on the true timeline than what I did make initially. I feel this has hurt my credit as much as if not more than a bankruptcy would of.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that bankruptcy could provide a fresh start for some people, but it also has serious consequences. The obvious negative is the long‐term negative impact on your credit (up to 10 years). Bankruptcy is usually an option of last resort for people in deep financial hardship and have little to no money for any other kind of debt relief alternative.

Outta Hand. Pay for NLLS = FEES Settlement= DOUBLE FEES. FDR can't communicate with a Creditor? You'll get a Summons at the Door. NO ONE TELLS YA! Very expensive program, we shall See IF I can Graduate or my dedicated Account gets Swallowed up by FEES FEES FEES.

Worst customer service Rep I have ever dealt with. That’s twice I’ve spoken to him and same crap attitude. Talks over people, belittles customers, puts you on hold and never returns. He needs to be trained that he works for us and if he is miserable at his job; Taco Bell is hiring.

Fees seem high and are withdrawn as soon as settlement is approved. At this point I am unsure as to what savings I will finally see if any. Whether or not I will feel comfortable to recommend this service is up in the air until all all settlements are reached.

The debt consultant explained to me all of the details, the process that I needed to go through, how it'll work, and what my monthly payments would be. There are times when I'm not able to make a payment, and I had to postpone it for a couple of weeks. Then every time I've asked FDR to help me, they were able to help me and they were very flexible. I'm able to keep making my house payments and pay my other bills working with them.

I know the charges, so much percentage goes towards FDR, which is a little high. But it's better than paying the full amount and being late. So far, so good. I only have one more debt to go and that's about it. It's taking a little long but it's better than owing money. Overall, Freedom Debt Relief sounded more convincing in what I would gain. I don't have perfect credit right now, but it is getting better little by little.

Great experience using Freedom Debt Relief. They were very helpful anytime I called them with questions. They were flexible if I had to change my payment date if it didn’t line up with my paychecks. Definitely recommend if you have debt, you’re unable to pay and want a set monthly payment and only pay about half of the original debt amount.

I have been working with them for years now. I'm soon finished paying off all the debt accumulated from a bad relationship, & they made it very simple. I recently got some scary paperwork regarding a lawsuit from one of the unsettled credit card companies ... I made one phone call to them and they took over! Within days I received an email from the attorney representing me and I simply had to respond by text with a simple confirmation number. And all that worry was behind me. That is priceless in today's world!

The payment plan is doable. It's a good pace for me. The only downside is I have to be employed. But that's the requirement. I got the “if you need a lawyer” thing, just in case. That is another benefit that I was able to use. And Freedom worked with me so I didn't have to worry about that. Everything has been satisfactory.

Freedom Debt Relief was the easiest option to go with. My rep also had personal experience with debt so to her, it was more than just a job. It was a passion to help somebody out of a tight spot, like she was in. After we talked about the debt and I finally decided to sign up, she assured me that it was the right thing to do. She explained to me the program, all the options, my responsibility to pay, and it’s worked out well since.
Their customer service people are on point. Every time I call and have a question or need to make an adjustment in the frequency or amount of my withdrawal, they’ve always been courteous. They let me know about settlements in a reasonable amount of time and give good advice. One thing they started doing that I liked is they would send out emails about my debt and follow-up letters in between during the month to give me some education and let me know what the status of my account is. That's helpful ‘cause it keeps reminders in front of me.
Freedom Debt Relief has gotten me out of debt quicker. It has improved my credit score tremendously. It’s given me a new outlook on finances. I'm probably about 80% of the way through the program. Their fees are a little high but that's okay because they're saving me thousands in interest. Versus constantly taking out personal loans which have high interest rates, why not settle the debt? When you're paying at a high-interest rate, it's a no-win situation. At least, this is a winning situation where you may come out of it a little bruised, but it’s fair.

Updated on 01/14/2023: FDR was a godsend for us. Seriously, we got in way over our heads to the tune of $170,000 in debt. I had been dying and there was no cure so we both just decided to do my bucket list and forget everything else. Well, that was fine until we came back to reality in 2017; I was still alive, they had new drugs for my illness and without our children, we would have been homeless. So, we pulled out act together, signed on with FDR and bit the bullet and started paying down our debts. It wasn't easy, but we still paid them off with the help of shrewd negotiation by FDR six months before we had expected. We are now debt free and doing very well.
I found a doctor in San Francisco, Dr. Chanda **, who treated me and finally cured me of my disease and now we are back on the Central Coast enjoying our life and looking forward to my husband's retirement in six more months. I was told from the start not to make anymore payments so they could negotiate a amount. Because of that I had a lot of late payment fees and know I have to pay the full amount, about 2000 more than the card amount started at.
We appreciate you voicing your concerns regarding the program, Allan. Being enrolled with Freedom Debt Relief will negatively impact credit since the client is voluntarily agreeing to stop making payments to their creditors. If a client continues making these payments, then their creditors will have no reason to negotiate with us and reduce what they owe. This also impacts the credibility of stating the client is going through hardship if the creditor can clearly see on a Credit Report that the client is still able to make payments each month. We need to wait for their monthly deposits to build up in order to have enough funds to settle their accounts. Strategically, however, this could be a good thing! The more and more the client's accounts go past due, creditors become more and more willing to accept a lower percentage of what is owed. Remember our clients are carrying a credit card balance from month to month, interest is charged on a daily basis, and it affects both the existing balance and any new purchases that post to their account. The interest you’re charged one day also becomes part of the balance accruing interest the next. In other words, credit card interest compounds daily. Even with our settlement fee, maintenance fee, and taxes, those totals could not exceed the compound rates like credit cards. Paying FDR was almost harder/worse than paying the minimum on each of my cards. Since there's no wiggle room with the monthly payment, they almost made me consider bankruptcy. In the end, they did what they said they would, negotiated my accounts. But then they also charge so many fees; was it worth it? Not sure. I'd try other avenues before FDR if I could go back.

The person from Freedom Debt Relief that I talked to was very nice and she explained the situation to me. I understood it, but at the same time, I was frustrated because when I first signed into the program, they told me that I would be graduating in four years and now it turns out to be five years. I will be paying 21 out of the 30 with some change that I owe, so $10,000 of savings sounds good. But it turned out to be it's not going to be that way. I’m just going to be saving $3,000 which I'm not too happy with.

My husband and I wanted to get out of debt. But how can we, when we are living pay check to pay check. We searched and searched until we found Freedom Debt Relief. It is really a relief. The monthly deposit needed to pay off the debts is easy in the pocket. We were able to save some from our monthly income. Only 2 accounts are waiting for settlement. Around 4 or 5 were fully paid. Freedom was very accurate. Their reps stayed on the phone and explained the whole thing to me. They did a very good job at that. But, FDR's monthly rate gets to be a little bit high. Also, it's taking a while for them to get with the creditor people and settle the amount that I would owe them.

I called Friday afternoon around 2:30 and was told to fax the summons I had just received to the legal department. I was told an email would be sent. It was not. I then went online and found the upload documents and uploaded the documents.

And turn over my acct to collection. Discovery wanted me to sign an IRS form 4506-C which I understand from reading it is that they want my tax records for the last 2 years. I felt Representative was a little blasé and could not help with IRS form. Not what I expected. I signed the form, felt I had no choice. Upsetting if this is what I can expect from your company: Blasé and Unknown.

Freedom Debt Relief has so far, been good. Their reps made me feel comfortable with their knowledge and the answers they had for the questions that I asked. I only had one thing that I had to do. I ended up having to do one of the debts myself because of the misunderstanding between me and the person I was talking to on the phone. So, it went outside of FDR's thing. Other than that, everything was done pretty well. I got everything they said I’d get through the mail. Everything’s hooked up with them that I needed to do on my part. So they were very helpful in getting that setup. Any questions I have, I can call at any time. If anybody answers and they’re friendly, that’s why I’m here.
Freedom has cut down half of what everybody was asking for. Even being with my bank for 15 years, they didn't even offer me what Freedom did. What they offered was double and I couldn't afford that anymore. Make a call to Freedom, get information and then decide. Ever since I did, I'm not stressed out.

Freedom Debt Relief is taking care of me. They started showing me how to pay them every month, and they're taking care of the credit cards. I just make my payments every two weeks. The only thing that irritated me was the time that's supposed to be done with the program. It ended up being a whole another year because of their negotiations. It was supposed to be done at the end of this year, and now it’s next year.

Taking too long for final 2 settlements. Very dissatisfied with how long it takes to finalize. Have more than enough money deposited to settle. Feel like things could be finalized - paying fees for payments & accounts could be settled in one payment each. Very frustrating.

A few years ago our house burned down and our insurance had lapsed so we were faced with 7 consumer debts we just couldn’t manage to pay. Bankruptcy was really not an option for us. I don't think they tried very hard to negotiate on my behalf. They negotiated a settlement that was more than my initial debt. I don't think that would take much negotiation. I think they could negotiate that in a matter of minutes.

I did research and Freedom Debt Relief seemed to be the most reputable. When I contacted them, they really extended themselves and helped me a lot. A friend of mine is the one that told me about them. They eventually didn't need it, but they said they contacted them, and they said that it would be a good way to go. So, I did. Freedom Debt Relief sends me emails once a month on the status of everything. If I have any questions, I call, and it's resolved almost right away. They're doing a great job.

Almost every time I called I got a different answer from the representative. The fees Freedom was charging was basically the amount they were saving me in the program. If I ever got myself into this situation again I would handle it on my own.

The service gets the job done. I am surprised though with how much their fees are. Once a debt is settled for a percentage, it seems as though the fee that is assessed by FDR brings it up a big notch. In other words, what you thought when they settle a debt for 60 or 70%, ends up being more like 65 or 75% once they tack on their fees. I was quite surprised almost to the point that I felt if I had the time, I could have negotiated a better deal. On the other hand, those debts that they settle for 50% or under, make it worth it.
We appreciate you voicing your concerns regarding our settlement fees, William. Remember our clients are carrying a credit card balance from month to month, interest is charged on a daily basis, and it affects both the existing balance and any new purchases that post to their account. The interest you’re charged one day also becomes part of the balance accruing interest the next. In other words, credit card interest compounds daily. My father Richard ** is the FDR customer, and has asked me to assist him as he does not use the computer or cell phone any longer. We both have been very please with how FDR has handled Dad's account. We may be getting close to finishing clearing up all the debts Dad had only a few years ago. In fact, the last negotiation was completed just a week or so ago.
The process takes some time, but could have gone a little faster if Dad could have afforded a bigger monthly contribution. But, we can see the finish line now, and it will be nice for him to know that his debt has been settled and repaid. We both appreciate FDR and their care for their clients. My husband and I enrolled in Freedom Debt May 2018. We had about 111K in debt from our years of having two mortgage payments. We were hit by the economy crash of 2007, and by divorce, before we met and got married in 2013. Both of us had a lot of debt, from trying to pay two mortgages and paying off our debt from previous relationships. We were overwhelmed.
We ended up contacting Freedom Debt and enrolled in the program. We had a total of 14 debts to resolve and we were up to our eyeballs in stress, only making minimum payments, and never making a dent in our payoff amounts. Freedom debt discussed our options. We started off paying what we could. We started off paying how much we would pay for minimums for all 14 debts. We kept this up and with the help of Freedom, We were able to pay the first debt off immediately.
Freedom were able to negotiate settlements that range from 40% settlement to 80% settlement. When we had a legal case raised against one of our debts, Freedom Debt works in partnership with NLLG, Inc to help with court settlements. We were Extremely grateful for this service to keep us from having to go to court.
Our anticipated graduation timeframe, if we kept payments the same over the years was December 2024. We were able to graduate by August 2021 because we paid extra when we could, we increased our biweekly payments when we could, and we made sure paying off our debt was our main focus.
Here are my take-aways from this program.
1. Step into Payments that you can manage. Do not break your family finances trying to hurry the process. Pay what you can and if you graduate longer, you graduate longer.
2. Take advantage of the NLLG, Inc. Representation. They know how to settle things when the courts step in. ALWAYS follow their directions and the MOMENT you get a certified mail with a court document, open the door, sign for the document and call Freedom Debt IMMEDIATELY. If you do not, it can be difficult for them to assist. The moment you receive something court related, engage Freedom Debt.
3. Watch the videos that Freedom Debt gives. They tell you how to speak to your debtors. Avoiding phone calls does not make things better. Take the call, and follow the script.
4. Get used to the fact that there will be an influx of calls once you stop payments. This has to happen for Freedom Debt to Help. When you communicate using the scripts in the videos and stay to the script, things become much easier and the stress becomes less.
5. Do not skip your payments to Freedom Debt. Skipping payments can run the risk for payment schedules to be missed. Set yourself up for realistic payments. Don't over pay thinking you have this and then when an emergency hits, you are stuck.
6. When in doubt, call and speak with someone at Freedom Debt. They are there for you. You pay your monthly fees to use their service and they will help! We had a ton of debt. We were embarrassed, but once we get over the embarrassment, and we work the process, it is satisfying to be debt free.

I entered into an agreement with Freedom Debt Relief thinking it would help resolve my debt. In one way it did, but in another it fell far short. They have negotiated settlements with my creditors (3), having already settled two with the last in process. However, when you add up the total I will have paid, it will actually exceed the amount I owed. I realize FDR has to charge fees to offer their services, but looking back on the process it seems the fees are rather exorbitant. Therefore my rating of three stars.
