I started with Freedom Debt Relief in 2018. They came up with an amount that I would have to pay every time I got paid. For a while, my credit score went down until settlements were reached. Once I reached settlements, they kind of froze. As they got paid off, my credit got better. I have about a year and a half to go with the program unless I can find a way to increase my payment.

The settlements take way too long. I was offered settlements a lot lower than you negotiated for, but was advised that you couldn't act on those. You sat on accounts until judgments were filed. The amounts you charge to 'negotiate' were astronomical. You're unforgiving and unyielding. You sit on my money to draw interest after withdrawing the funds from my bank and before money is disbursed. VERY BAD business. You take advantage of those that are in dire need and give them poor advice.

Please know we do not benefit in any way from leaving clients enrolled in the program longer than necessary. Also, the account affiliated with your program is a non-interest-bearing account. The only fees collected by Freedom Debt Relief are our settlement fees, which are not collected until we've successfully reduced the balance owed to a creditor. We share the common goal of negotiating and settling the balances as quickly as financially possible. If we communicate with your creditors too soon, this may encourage them to take aggressive actions against you. Our clients are our top priority, and we want to do what's best for them. They did all the negotiating and I was able to get a loan that accelerated the process and pay off the debt in half the time. This was a good experience overall. There was someone always there to help me without waiting.

Too slow. Still some credit cards Companies sending me statement of accounts need to pay... while my loan consolidation been done since Dec. 2020 and remitting Freedom... June 2021. Till when it will be settled.... Hope till when? Hope it will be done very soon. Thank you.

FDR did what they said they'd do. The implied case was not the specific case. Looking for a 45% debt reduction means really only ⅓. Freedom takes their 21% of the whole, off the top. Before the people we owed got money, FDR took ALL their payments first. Don't forget the Fees are additional and monthly and unreasonable. I can see a fee to set up the account and bank links, but once done, it's automatic, there is no reason for a continued monthly fee, adding to over $100 per year for 3 years. Sweet Deal huh? They do what they said, but not what is implied.

The balled on dropped on my account and caused me to go into garnishment on my account, if someone would have taken the time to research matter further when I sent the information before I would not be going through this now.

A friend had been with Freedom and it really helped her. I called to see if I could qualify and I did. Freedom has a fantastic employee relationship. They made things a lot easier for me. There were many times I got stressed but talking to a representative certainly helped me. It was just the way they interact with me. It's fantastic. I've never experienced that. Freedom is a great program. It took about six months before the first debt started to get settled. We had a problem after three years, where one went into the court thing. Freedom helped me a great deal. Everything is okay at the moment. I have one year left after July.

When I contacted FDR I was carrying a heavy credit card debt. I was paying $800 a month to pay off the debts but with the interest charges, the debt was only slowly coming down. FDR got balances reduced and payment is halved with no monthly interest added to balance. I'll soon be out of credit card debt and I no longer charge more than I can pay off quickly. I highly recommend FDR. That debt is off my shoulders.

They've taken care of all the problems I've had with the debt situation. It seems like they've really done a good job as far as connecting the debts that I have and trying to solve the problems I've had. They connect me with the particular people that I work with. They call me and keep me informed of what is going on with the settlements and how they're doing with each company that I've put them in contact with. Been almost 3 years nothing has been done. The amount altogether are the same amount since started. What the heck!!!! Why is it like that? Money going to a lot of different hands but not to the cards that need paid off.

Last year during the pandemic, Freedom Debt was really helpful because of the fact that I didn't have a job for four months. I was able to call them and be like, Hey, I can't make a $250 payment. Can I make like a $25 payment to keep my account active?” There was one girl there who tried to tell me that the best thing for me to do would be to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy because I couldn't pay anything and I was calling every other week trying to get only $25 payments. She said, “Well, you keep doing this. Your dedicated account is very in the negative, and you're not gonna be able to bounce back from that.” And I was like, “Excuse me? Thank you for knowing my life."
Filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy hits my credit even harder. She said, “Well, you have a lot of debt.” I told her that's what FDR is supposed to be helping with. Still, I appreciated that and I asked how I file what she was saying. She said that they needed to get with a lawyer and I would still have to pay for it. She then told me, “Borrow the money from somebody. Get with a lawyer, and then they'll fight it off for you, whatever. And then all of this gets wiped clean.” I told her, “So, that way, for the next seven years, I have no credit whatsoever and I'm literally building from the ground up? No, thank you.” She then said I should borrow money from somebody else to make my dedicated account zeroed out and go from there. I asked her what the point of doing that was if, in two weeks, I would have to call FDR back again and say I could only make a $50 payment. She then said I should just do my best to get caught up.
Working with Freedom has been great. Everything I've liked about the program is that they are willing to work with me and around my budget. They've helped me completely eliminate at least two cards that I had on there. They're working on a third one which is my biggest with Wells Fargo. I went through a divorce and it ruined my credit. It's been two years that I've been working with them and I've gotten to see my credit score jump up about 104 points.

When I started with Freedom Debt Relief I was given a completion date of 36 months, somehow it has snow balled into over 48 months! I have never missed a deposit and have increased my deposits! This is the one of the greatest downfalls with this program.

This process takes too long..messed up credit..higher balances take too long to negotiate. Feels like process drags even tho money is taken out at regular time.. Wish I would have went with a consolidation and I would never recommend this service. I am dissatisfied but I just put it out of my head.

2 long years of waiting brought my credit score so low after it was in the 700's and still has not moved an inch. I cannot afford the impact this made to me. I would rather go bankrupt and start fresh again.

Freedom Debt Relief gave me an idea as to what I needed to do to halfway get myself situated. However, sometimes I couldn't reach anyone who knows what's going on. And it makes it difficult. We have this attorney group that handles a lot of the litigations for us. They usually send it over the internet. They give you 48 hours to get the information back to them and get it notarized. And at the time, my internet went down, and I was having problems getting that up and running. And then when I did, the attorney group told me that I didn't get it in on time so they couldn't represent me. So, I had to go to court without any representation. They left me out there. I was messed up.
I told the judge that I have been trying to reach the company, and they had not responded. We went back and forth, and wound up having to negotiate with the company by myself. They need to be more upfront, not automated. When a client has a problem, they need somebody that is going to listen to them, and be sympathetic to their calls, and then try to give them a way to get this problem solved. Other than that, I've seen progress being made.

I was literally drowning in credit card debt and just couldn't get ahead of payments. I am now a year into the program and the loan is paid off, 3 credit cards have been fully negotiated and am half way through paying those. There are only 2 credit cards left to negotiate and I couldn't feel any more accomplished!!! I wish I would have made the switch up before I took out the loan but now is better than never. :) I recommend this service 10000 percent!

I have been with FDR for 18 months and was assured by them that they had a good working relationship with Bank of America and they would provide me with attorneys to represent me if I had to go to court, but yet today I'm going to court without representation because 2 of their different law firms or partners said that I needed to add more funds along with FDR. I have a 10 month job and my wife is disabled and I'm already paying almost a $1000.00 a month to FDR and still have to add more funds. A few accounts have been settled, but now I am out of work until August because I have a 10 month job so I don't know where these funds are coming from. These credit cards were used to pay for meds for my wife which Medicare would not cover which was about 3 to $500.00 extra a month. I'm praying for a miracle today.

I feel that your settlement fees are very high and make the difference in the amount settled seem inaccurate on my savings. If your settlement fees were included in the balance, the savings are different and the numbers are skewed.

Updated on 09/16/2022: When I enrolled into thus program a few years ago, I was told that I would be "debt free" within two years. Four years later, I am still paying over 500 per month. I was made aware that the debt will most likely be reduced but was not told that the reduction of my debt would cost me thousands of dollars for settlement fees. Thanks for getting my debt reduced to as low as 50% of what was owed. I didn't realize that a big chunk of the reduced debt rolled into your pocket and not mine. Also, my credit which was around 600 is now at almost at 500 because of the creditors reporting my situation to the credit bureau. Yes, I did ask about that at the beginning of the enrollment and was told that it wouldn't last long. Four years? I hope this helps in your understanding my frustration. Regards, David

The reps at Freedom Dent Relief cared and I could trust them. They stood by their word. They said they would help me and they did. If I had questions, they were ready to answer them. It kept me up to date. I have one bill with Bank of America and they wouldn’t let go. They wouldn't budge. They were gonna make sure that they get back every penny of what I owe them. We had to get National Litigation Law Group involved and thank God FDR was there for me because I definitely needed them on that deal. Bank of American was so rough and would not give an inch so Freedom Debt Relief told me that they're not even charging me a fee. I’m glad somebody was there to help me.

The person you speak to initially is a salesman and they do a great job of making the program sound like it will be the best option for you. It's not until all of your debt is enrolled that you realize you made a horrible decision. All of your accounts are put in default BEFORE they will even attempt to negotiate a payment/balance reduction on the accounts. They only do a couple accounts at a time so the process is very very slow. When I tried to back out they told me I would lose all the deductions on the accounts that were made, therefore would have to pay the original balances plus pay FDR all of their fees.
I tried to pay my credit cards myself and the companies wouldn’t speak to me because FDR has full authority over the accounts and they could not speak to me. Enrolling my credit cards with this company was the worst thing I did. My credit has been ruined for much longer than what they said. I would not ever do this again and would never recommend this to anyone.

The customer service with Freedom Debt Relief was good but I had some problems. It’s not easy for me to run out, get copies and things notarized. It’s a long trip around here. I gave the papers to my son and he made copies and emailed it to where they were supposed to go. That was over the Memorial Day weekend and I never heard anything from Freedom Debt Relief till the following Friday. I got a message from the rep that if she doesn’t hear from me by 4 o’clock, the deal was gonna fall through. I called her back and I told her to let me know if she got the message. I said I had a lot going on and to put in the mail if there’s ever anything that has to signed. All I got to do is sign it, put it back in my mailbox and the mailman will take it the next day. It's faster than me having to go to town and get stuff. I don't have the fax, my copier is not working and I barely have internet service where I am. I had no idea what was going on.

Updated on 07/06/2022: I felt like I had the world on my shoulders. This program took so much stress out of my life. I started the program in December of 2018. The rep told me it would take roughly 5 years to pay off $45K in debt. I paid my monthly minimum and added extra deposits when I was able to. The good news is I will be done with the program in the next few months. I highly recommend this company.

I’m now on my last card being negotiated and the credit card company sued me so NLLG is working on the case. The attorney handling my case is not very supportive of my case. He didn’t give me a lot of options for settlement. He said that he will do what I tell him to do but I started telling him what my thoughts are and he just brushed them off and said it won’t work with CC company. He didn’t want to work hard on my case and took easy way out. He didn’t communicate with me after that. There should be a different firm working with Freedom Debt Relief.

They keep pushing my date out, even though I’ve kept my deposits up. The one and only time I needed legal representation, which I paid LLG for, they denied representing me. FDR had to ask for support elsewhere as I was in the middle of a settlement. That was very misleading.
We never intended to disappoint Ms. Doris. Granted, it is frustrating when creditors choose litigation as an attempt to collect a balance. Also, please know the expected graduation date is estimated and fluctuates as balances are settled. However, you may have opportunities to accelerate your Graduation Path. Amazing that I called an associate about the Discover card part of my dedicated acct. - in order to tell them that Discover turned their efforts over to a collection agency. The associate apparently knew of Discover's move, and I ended the call satisfied that FDR had a record of it already. Less than 1 minute later I received notice that Discover's agency (acting on their behalf) was willing to settle. And I said I agree to the proposed settlement. All took place in a very short period of time!

Had question on monthly amount due on most recent creditor added to my monthly statement. I can only pay 468.00 into dedicated account and was concerned with amount due monthly over 700.00 per month. I had tried a second business and used the cards to temporarily to purchase upgrades and necessary items. I thought when we had both rentals rented and up to date I could use the extra money to payoff the the cards but never happened.

I was so hopeful when I enrolled. I was paying for interest and that was it. I wasn’t even touching my credit card balances. I entered with all of my debt and FDR focused on a very small balance while ignoring my credit union account. I received a summons and was pretty much left alone to deal with the plaintiff attorney. I now am paying over $15,000 for an account balance that was $11,500. It was a $15,000 loan and I already paid off thousands of dollars that were added back on due to the lawyer fees demanded on the summons. It was a terrifying process and I spent countless hours on the phone and computer begging for answers. When I enrolled, FDR mentioned that credit unions were tough to negotiate. Knowing that, they still decided to ignore the notices that I uploaded and settle other accounts. My credit score is at rock bottom and I think I am worse off than I was before I entered the program.
I have made every single deposit on time and in full. I even increased my deposit amount. Sure, one of my smaller accounts was settled for half of what I owed. However, this savings is negated by FDR’s fee of at least 20%. The settlement negotiation fee does not include requesting the credit card companies to remove negative credit marks on your record. FDR charges monthly maintenance fees and fees to send check payments to credit card companies. They might demand more funds, on top of regular deposits, in order to take any action on an account. Don’t do it! There’s another way. You can negotiate with creditors on your own, without the fees and false hope.
We're disappointed to hear about the recent experience, Ms. Carla. Understandably, it is frustrating when creditors choose litigation as a collection attempt. Please know our negotiators will always take the first opportunity available to settle any of the enrolled balances. There is no benefit to keeping clients enrolled longer than necessary. We share the common goal of resolving the enrolled balances as quickly as possible. We anticipate that future settlements will be more favorable, leading to a better experience for you overall. If I didn't know the answer to my question, they would try to find out for me and let me know. Aside from that, the monthly payment has been very feasible and doable. Sometimes, I go on the dashboard online and it's very helpful and user-friendly. All in all, FDR is doing an awesome job and they should keep it going like they’re doing.

This has been a fairly easy process. They do all of the work for you. I enrolled with 5 credit card debts. One has been paid off and the last one was just negotiated on and only has a 12 month payment plan. My anticipated graduation is just a little over 2 years away, making this a 5 year plan to have close to $28,000 paid off. The negotiations averaged about 50% less than the starting debt. I went into this not having missed a single payment prior to enrolling. But the amount of interest I was paying, I would have never paid these off. My credit scores did initially take a major hit in the beginning. I went from 700’s to 300’s, I am currently back up to over 600.
I have become better at putting money away and saving up for big items and vacations. The few small cards I kept out of this enrollment I have also paid off. So, while this can be stressful and a big decision to make knowing what some of the consequences will be, I can say that I am happy that I chose to enroll with freedom debt. Just a side note as of now I have not had any penalties when filing my taxes over the last 3 years.

I wanted to consolidate and I listened to some of the videos that was provided with different experiences that had dealt with Freedom Debt Relief, and I found it to be helpful in trying to resolve my situation. I was on a tight budget even before COVID and pretty much didn’t have much to rely on, and with credit card fees, you don’t get it paid down unless you can make a substantial amount towards it. The reps explained clearly the way it was set up, how it will be handled, and how it would be as far as being collected. It helped me to know that I was kind of on the road to doing better and clearing my debt up. If you can put more with whatever's being taken out as far as the amount is on, I know it helps.

Freedom Debt Relief is a pretty good program. They work with you. You call a representative and go over whatever questions you have. I've dealt with different reps and most of them are pretty good, detailed and they follow-up. There are a few that aren't as thorough, but majority of them were. Freedom Debt Relief sets you up a goal. They got the certain programs that they set up where you deposit so whatever you make go in towards the goal. It was all good except for the Prosper account which went into litigation which I was not happy about. Don’t like receiving documents by lawyers and from the county clerk's office saying I’m being sued. Not good. Plus the papers served to my home came not in any envelope just loose papers with all my info on them which people I didn’t even know received them. I was not at the house. Nothing more could make me pissed off than that.

The representatives told me what was going to happen, what they found on my credit, and they let me know. Then, Freedom took me to court for something then they gave me lawyers and they finished it out of court. I had to up the payments that time and it was killing me. They'd email me stuff and tell me when they need me to okay a case. They're doing a good job, it just takes so long. But my credit's been going up. I closed out four or five accounts already. Wouldn't mess me up if I bought a car.

Freedom tries to do its best to make the settlement that helps me to pay sometimes in half. Sometimes I feel confident, but sometimes I feel a little bit lost, so they're supposed to give more attention to us. There was one settlement I did that I was supposed to pay 18 months. I pay 9 months. Then last year the pandemic came, they lost my settlement. Now, it's still on hold, so something happened and it makes me very sad. If I need something, I have to call them. They never call me. One more year and I'll be done with them.

They were able to negotiate a fair settlement far beneath what I owe my creditors under a hardship clause due to my unemployment status. I expect to be debt free within four years. This is great news considering I'm approaching retirement age.

New account so I can't assess the program. However, very pleasant and comforting staff. Since opening the account, I have had several questions and received a quick response. Always pleasant and professional. I called another company first and felt pressure and very intimidated. The other company keeps calling, texting and emailing me and making me feel guilty. I do not feel this with Freedom. They are very understanding.

I was surprised when the associate said that I needed to contact the creditor and have them contact FDR to update the payments I made in person at the Gastro Clinic because I needed the Clinic's services and head to apply some money to my debt-ed account. I made the payments but the account with FDR had not reflected the new balance weeks later. I submitted my receipts to FDR but the associate proclaimed that when the debt collector/creditor contacts FDR with the payments, the file will be updated.
I was informed to contact the debt collectors to put the action in motion. GREAT! I have to contact a debt collector whereas I was originally informed to " no longer speak to them. We (FDR) will do that for you. Blew my mind having to contact a debt collector. Well, I did. Found out the total debt was from two bills totaled but each bill is with a different collector. New ball game. Last FDR associate said that this information will come to light during negotiations. Okay, I maybe can rest now? To Be Continued...

When signed up with Freedom Debt relief. It was told to me after I paid off all my creditors your company will help me with my credit score. Now every time I called, I am speaking with different person and getting different answer to the same question pertaining to my credit score. From what I understand they do not help with credit scores. The original person I spooked to in the beginning, I no longer can get him. I leave messages and no return phone call. I also asked questions about companies are giving lower settlement because of COVID-19 on your bills and it was said to me no.
