Before I enrolled I talked to a representative at length about the program. She was throughout and answered every questioned I had. The rest is easy. All you have to do is wait for FDR to do their thing and get you a settlement offer. I’ve been very happy with what they’ve been able to do. And my credit score is going up!!

So far I am happy with this experience. However, I get anxious with all the letters, phone calls, and emails that I’m receiving from the credit card companies. I recently tried to get a loan from my credit union to help with my daughter’s college experience, but was denied because of my connection to Freedom Debt Relief. That has never happened to me before.

The reps from Freedom Debt Relief kept me posted. We set up the payment plan to where I could afford to pay and what I had to pay. I increased it a little bit when money was starting to free up a little bit so we can get this over with and done. But I’ve got one more year to go. By next December, I’m supposed to be done. Working with FDR gave me a little extra money to live.

I basically had to call FDR repeatedly regarding my American Express account that could have been avoided months earlier from going to court, garnishment and wrecking my credit. I was devastated by the lack of effort done on their part to get this situation under control. I was never so stressed and frustrated having to do all the work.

The letter from the law firm which represent from one of my creditor was ignored. This letter dated 12/04/2020. Now this creditor will not give me a discount. Now I have to pay off the whole amount of $11,722.98. Thanks, FDR.

Been working with Freedom Debt Relief since January 20 21 and things have gone great so far! One thing you want to focus on is connecting with one of the agents from the company and stick with that one. Getting multiple different people you’re talking to kind of makes things confusing. Other than that the program is phenomenal.

In the beginning, Freedom Debt Relief was wonderful. They were doing what they said they would and I was doing my responsibilities, which is to pay them their fee. It was supposed to be a four-year commitment on my part to pay them a certain amount every month to knock out my debt. Since the four years is getting close, I thought I'd check and see how close it was because I need to get a car. But lo and behold, they changed the date that I'd be finished with the program to two years later. So now I owe them through 2026, when my debt was supposed to be paid off in 2023. That's thousands and thousands of dollars more than what they had originally told me. They did not tell me that the date could be pushed back and I don't even know why it would need to be pushed back if they were doing their job. So, I'm thinking my only recourse here is to get an attorney. They hit me with a Whammy and I'm really upset.
I sent them an email and in the past, they were extremely responsive with their correspondence. But now, I heard nothing in response. I also checked the contract and the verbiage isn't exactly four years, but “It's an estimated four year period blah, blah, blah.” So that's where they’ve got me. But estimated isn't two years out. Estimated is maybe one or two months, but in my mind, it’s not two years.

Freedom Debt Relief talked with me for a while and figured out what I was making and how things are going. Every time I called them, it's a different person. But someone answered the phone and I could speak with them. Also, they all seemed to be very knowledgeable and helpful with me because they pull my stuff up and look at it. They were thorough about which accounts they were working on the saddle, and they would send me messages.
Once they started getting things going, I was like, "Wow." It didn't take long to do this one, that one. I've been in it a few years now and I'm on my last one, which is my biggest account I owed on. But it's at a low enough payment that I can work with it with me being on disability. I had a surgery back in March of 2019 and they've worked with me even more to help me lower the payment so I could still stay on. I didn't want to lose them because this helped me greatly. And it helps my credit score too. Call Freedom and see what they will say.

My dashboard states that my grad date is approx. Mar 2025. I was told when I signed up that the approx. grad date was end of 2023 (+/- couple mos). After the explanation from the FDR rep, I felt better that I was on track to finish around that time.

When I finally made the call to Freedom Debt Relief I was at the end of my rope, bankruptcy was the only thing that was left until I saw their commercial. I made the call and figured they wouldn't be able to help me. I spoke to Jason, he was very nice and understanding. The call seemed to last forever but he listened and I felt very comfortable telling him everything and giving him all my information. I was getting the help I needed, someone understood and was going to help! This was the best phone call I ever made. I'm going downhill now, climbing the hill was hard, not paying the bills and seeing my credit score go down but it's been worth it. I just got a loan for a newer SUV, that was exciting for me! If you're thinking about making the call, DO IT, it's well worth it. I'm so glad I did.

I was told that my payments of $246/month may be extended. I did not agree to that. When I made the agreement with FDR, I agreed to 48 payments of $246 and FDR promised me that would be all I would have to pay. Now they are trying to get more money from me and I am prepared to report FDR to the Attorney General or Secretary of State for shoddy business practices.

As they have been settling my debts, they helped me to get a loan to settle them faster and now my credit is getting better quickly but instead of reflecting negatively, my payments are now building my credit and my DTI ratio is dramatically better with my debt settled.

I see three of the smaller creditors are getting your attention. This is fine however the larger clients are of major concern. I am 78 years old and have spent several years having a good credit with Chase, First National Bank (Legacy card) and CorTrust Bank. I hate seeing my credit with these firms being lost.

This company is great negotiating accounts but they promise if one goes to court their lawyers will take care of it. NOT. I did all the requirements including extra fees and they never made an attempt to handle the small claims date. I got stuck for the whole account due to failure to show up. Online small claims yet. I called 4 times prior only for them to tell me don't worry....

Updated on 08/22/2022: I understand where you have to wait until funds are built up in my account before my creditors are paid off, but some of the ones I thought would have been addressed by now have not been taken care of. I wonder why different accounts are taken care of right away and some of the accounts I owed less money on have been left to last.
Original Review: I am happy about how they have resolved my accounts so far. I thought I might be further along by this time in the program but most of my accounts have been resolved. I still have two more to go. It is supposed to be finished by 2025. I can’t wait to get my accounts totally negotiated with and paid off.

I tried this with another company and I was ALWAYS BROKE. THESE PEOPLE MAKE YOU STOP, THINK AND BE REALISTIC WITH WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD. You charged my bank double the 524l 2 times!! Left me in a bind!!! I got checks out on second 1046,?? I as promised it would be redeposited?? I need it in my bank NOW!! Please get your 1046. The disappointment is, I am being sued by Discover, was told I had legal representation. Called the law office I was told would represent me, and that the discover account was sent to, just to find out that none of it is true!

Although I just made my first payment to getting started paying off my debt, I feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders. I didn't know how I was going to ever get out of debt. I was paying over $1,000 a month. $440 a month now I have my life and Sanity back. I have six enrolled accounts one is paid off four are in the process of being settled and one to go. Started the process in 2020 and I will graduate in 02/2024. Apparently it's taking almost three years to continue with the debt payment. I was not told it's going to take more than three years, I am not satisfy with the program at all, I they are taking more money from me for services and then to pay my debt, that's why it's going to take me 10 years to get out of this debt. I would definitely recommend FDR. My score has increased little by little in the past year. Customer service has been great too. Easy to use as well when you have to upload anything to your files. Point is that once you graduate from the program do not go and ruin your score again. Yes, it can be a little lengthy at first but definitely worth the wait and teaches how to manage your money.

I was very happy in the way they keep my creditors from calling me. The staff very easy to work with and made me feel they were working to help me. I think some of the cost I got was unknown to me. The gentlemen who answered me was fine. What I am concerned about is no one reached out to me with how this is done. If I hadn't called, I wouldn't have known to call NLLG, fill out forms, get a notary, pay fees, etc. I don't know if I'm being serviced well. I wasn’t sure about this at first and honestly pretty scared. It was very slow at first getting started but I have paid one of my biggest accounts off and I’m halfway there. Bad customer service, also representative do not work good with my accounts. Not on time. I have an account of furnitures. At the time when I enrolled to the service. I was own 1125 dollars, someone there leave the account. Take more time without payment, even for your experience working with credits known that furnitures accounts policy are very complicated. So now they are trying to charge 7 grands, and you guys call me with a big deal of 3700. + your service fee, lol. What is the saving, if I was owe 1125 and now I have to pay almost 4000.

I fully recommend Freedom Debt Relief to anyone who needs relief. I am in the beginning stage and have a long way to go. Emotional support, counseling, and get-it-done authority is waiting on the other end of the phone. Take action is what FDR does for you. Take time to prepare a budget you can live with before you call so that you have accurate answers. Bankruptcy is not a good answer because the debt can go away but the credit reputation hangs around for a very long time which reflects 29% interest rates. It is better to keep your word and pay your debt with a good credit reputation immediately as soon as you are paid in full.

They basically pull you in destroy your credit even more, then when no one will lend you a dollar they offer you a super high interest loan which you have to accept because they take way too long to settle accounts and you're being harassed by bill collectors. So they put you exactly back where you started but now you only owe them.

Debt reduction was not all that great. I could have settled it for less and not paid your high fee. I waited about 6 month to FDR to settle a debt I could have paid off originally. They saved me about $100. Then it was like they did me some big favor and charged me their high fee for it.

You did not take responsibility with my last billing with Navy FCU. You had it on your books for over 2 years then all of a sudden I get a call from a District Attorney telling me I owe more now than what my original bill because of the interest that was added on. So now I'm stuck for another two years of payment with interest.

Huge misunderstanding about when and how creditors listed would be contacted. I understood immediately, however, 4 months into the program I'm told something totally different. Let me begin with I don't blame FDR (Freedom Debt Relief) for the financial situation I got myself into. With that said if I could go back and do this again I would not go with FDR. I started this journey with FDR 4 years ago. The first two years were not too bad and they were saving me money with some pretty decent settlements. After the first two years things went downhill fast. It started to feel like FDR was not communicating with my remaining creditors. I don't think they have a very good process for keeping creditors at bay while they wait to negotiate a settlement.
It wasn't long and I started getting court servers coming to my door to hand me lawsuits. My last 5 or 6 settlements were all lawsuits. When you are served a lawsuit FDR turns it over to NLLG to represent you. You are at the mercy of what they tell you and the law firm suing you pretty much sets the terms for the settlement. I was usually given two options. If you could afford to deposit more money to pay them off sooner they might give you a small break on the settlement amount. For the most part the settlements were about the same as what the balance was at the time of enrollment because the amount they would sue you for included charges that accrued during the two prior years.
This is the point when I started realizing how much of a rip-off this was. I really can't tell you how FDR was coming up with the settlement fees but you would think if they didn't save you much the percentage they take would be much lower but it wasn't. If they can take the fees right away they will but if there isn't enough money in your account they add it to the monthly payments. FDR does not list this separately so when you total up the remaining amount owed on the accounts you have left, the amount is actually higher and you don't know what it is unless you call FDR and have them tell you.
At that point there is no way to know if it's accurate or not. The fact that they only list the total settlement and not what's left to be paid on the fee makes it seem very shady. There is no way for you to track it so you are relying on what they tell you. One of their reps told me they are going to change that on the dashboard so you can track it. As of today that has not happened.
But wait, it gets worse. They constantly tell you in their monthly emailed newsletters that you can call and increase your deposits to graduate early. Several months ago I made a one-time deposit to move up my graduation date. They happily took the money but my graduation date never changed. Now I have enough money in my account to completely pay off my last two settlements but I can't get FDR to pay them off. They tell me the settlement agreement has to stay as is including the upcoming payments and they can't just pay it off at once. In the meantime they say I have to continue my monthly payments of $1650. They claim they will adjust that amount if I call in each month until the original graduation date. It's obvious they want to keep charging the monthly fees for your account and fees for the monthly payments.
I have called them 3 times in the last month trying to resolve this. The last time I called in I was very frustrated with the rep I was talking to. When I asked to speak with a manager I was put on hold 3 times while they tried to locate one. Eventually I was told they were all in a meeting and were not available. The rep assured me they would not tell me anything diff than he already had. I then asked him to take down my phone number (as if they don't have this in my account info) and have one of the managers call me back when they were available. He told me they were too busy to call me back today. Fabulous customer service from a company I have paid a lot of money to.
