I was told at the get-go this process would take a year or two. Now you are saying 5. I don’t appreciate the change. How can it be so different or were you not being honest at the beginning? 5 years is going to cost a lot in fees. Thinking I should have just went bankrupt. Would have been cheaper.
Carol, thank you for your feedback. The length of our program is an estimate, it can take between 48 months - 60 months to resolve your accounts. The length of your program does not determine the amount of settlement fees that you pay. Our settlement fees vary and are calculated based on the law in the state you live in & the amount of your debt. The average is between 18%-25%. No client is charged more than 25%. Every time I call, they are friendly and answer my questions! They stay on top of things very well. They keep me up-to-date. I like the website, it's easy to navigate and find what I'm looking for. I like that I can tract the progress of all of my accounts at anytime on the website. I also can keep track of how much money I have and where it's going.

My experience with Freedom Debt Relief is wonderful. One of the other companies called and ripped me off $1,500. On the other hand, Freedom Debt Relief is doing their job and they didn’t take my money and run out of town and kept adding more money to my bill. It's a very awesome company. They had my back and took care of whatever the problem was. I'm almost debt-free. It saved my life, monkey off my back and the bill collectors are not calling my phone. All in all, they will take care of people's debts and I would recommend them.

Everything was on track. I even upped my deposit amount to end sooner. Then my last account became a nightmare. Couldn’t get the last account closed. Every time I called I received a different answer. American Express started to call me again about the account. So instead of ending earlier it was dragged out. I had to keep calling weekly just to see the status and would get a different answer. It is finally resolved and looks like it will be paid off on the 22nd of this month. It should have been sooner.

The cost of settlements seem high and time for accounts seem to be a little slow. The dates of settlements can change a lot. I wish dates of settlements would be a little more accurate. I have no idea what happens to my funds after I pay off debts.

I liked the way FDR's plan was stated. They reviewed everything and they told me how much. They also made sure I could afford the payment plan and I agreed to it. It's been a relief. I haven't been as stressed because I've been able to pay them and they deal with the creditors. I don't have to deal with the creditor calls. I didn't want to file bankruptcy, so this was a good alternative. My dad went through a different outfit and the problems he's had, I'm really happy I'm with Freedom.

If I get hit with 1099s. I will have to pay everything twice. I am opting out. I might lose all that I bought and worked hard for. The interest is high but I did it, I rather be in debt long term than lose all that I have.

I recently finished my program with Freedom Debt Relief- The staff and service was amazing- They were always so helpful and knowledgeable every step of the way- This was very welcome since I was in a really stressful situation- Working with this program felt like a 100 pound weight was taken off of my shoulders- My only complaint was the amount of settlement fees that was charged after every settlement as well as a monthly service fee which totalled to over $2900 over a two year period- I want everybody to be aware of this before they consider this program.

Sometimes I question why do you arrange small payments which make the settlement longer. Please explain. I'm looking forward to finishing my debt. Please tell me my expected pay off date. I have been pleased so far but would like to be informed more often. I do $500 a month and had increased from $400 despite the pandemic. Thank you. Please let me know.

I called FDR to let them know I was being served by one of my debtor and asked for my legal service. I was told I didn't purchase one. I ended up spending few hundreds to for my legal services recommended by FDR. Later on I was never asked more money. I assumed that I was indeed covered!

There are more hidden fees than I expected but after I ran up my credit cards due to illness, they have made it easier to pay them off! Not sure I would do this again because I wasn't behind in payments, I was just maxed out.

My plan should have already been completed. After paying for about a year and a half Freedom contacted me wanting me to refinance all the debt into one through a company called Greentree. I said no and then they stop working my case efficiently. I missed one payment over the years and made that up the very next month. So I wasn't behind at any point while a settlement was being negotiated. So my finish date came and went and they still had one more creditor to settle. I had to add money to my account to get them to negotiate a settlement for the last one. If you don't except their suggestions they stop working your case.
I did not want to borrow more money to pay off these people and it made the person handling my case upset. They evidently were going to make money off of my loan or something cause they just stopped making timely negotiations. They charged me fees every month. And got their percentage first. So they did help. But they take their own sweet time and they get their cut too.

Having done this was a good idea but we really didn't realize what the rough start was going to be like with the credit score going down and collection calls/letters. But by the time all our debtors when to collection and Freedom Debt Relief got a hold of everyone and work things out it started to stabilize. They are working on it still but things are looking up for the future.

I have some different kinds of debt from credit cards and personal loans about $30,000. I picked a package. I discussed with FDR how much it will be monthly and they gave me the quote on how much it will be. They'll cover all the negotiations, even the legal ones. It is really going very good so far. The account I had, most of them are the banks, so they talked with them. When these become due for some time and the bank also tries to close it, our negotiators will start negotiating with them. They always reduce more than 50% of the amount. Whenever I got an issue from any collector, they've responded very well. One of my accounts went to the legal part and in court. They had a legal firm to help me out. They have always been prompt and gave me the support.

I wish there was more communication from Freedom Debt to me. I also wish we had more communication with negotiators. It seems as if it should go faster. The last debt I had settled was less than $1000.00 when I entered the program. It was just settled for more than double what I owed. That feels frustrating.

Lauren ** does not return phone calls or emails! Jacob ** does not return emails! NO ONE returns phone calls or email messages! All we get in response is automated email messages on videos to watch. I don’t want a video, I want a live person to talk to! It’s like once you’re enrolled they don’t care about your issues! Dashboard stopped working for us & no one will return a message to us on how to fix it! Horrible, horrible way to handle new customers to the program! We will NOT recommend your services to anyone!

Freedom Debt Relief has negotiated 3 of my accounts and now I have 2 left. Will be graduating in 2023. It has been a wonderful program. I would not have been able to do it by myself. Thanks again! Told me she would send me a link to look to see who the creditors were. She never did and deleted my three creditors. I might not of been the friendliest person but I wanted to know who the three creditors were. I spoken to other people there and they’ve always told me who the creditors where. And now I can’t even look myself because she deleted them. I told her in the past I’ve had things over 15 years. I also told her I thought to leave the 2 capital ones.

They provide a monthly update. If you ask a question via email they answer it on the same day, which is really important to me anyways. If any problem/s arise they contact you with easy to resolve answers. Highly recommend them to anyone who has credit problems. Make the call that is the hardest part but you will be happy you did. FDR told me they were getting no response from the people who they were handling my debt with JPMCB. I was able to obtain info from my credit report regarding my account being closed so I uploaded that document to my portal to help FDR settle my file.

I am giving a neutral rating. On the positive, any and all interactions with customer service were always friendly and helpful. The rating was due to the fact that I feel things were dragged out. Monies were held longer before coming to a settlement. I had given an extra $5,000.00 and expected an earlier ending date. The money sat there. Later payments were not made because it was $10.00 short for a payment. Yet they took out $10.00 a month check fee to pay one company. A monthly fee for lawyers (even though not used each month) and another monthly processing also. By the time some debts were ready to pay off, they had doubled in what was owed. With this said, I am appreciative that I was able to pay off my debt with the help of this company.

The truth of the matter is FDR is too expensive. They have done a good job reducing my balances I owe to my creditors but their fees make up for it. Other than that they're great. I maybe canceling soon. I have been with them over two years and only have one debt settled.

Keep up with your deposit and your debt will go away. Takes about 6 months to see the first settlement. If you can increase your deposit do it. It will help at the end. If an account goes to court or attorney be ready to deposit more money for a few months into the account to get a good settlement.

The communication was excellent. The timeliness of settling my debt was good. Not sure that the sequence of settling was the best, but everyone is paid now. The reps that I worked with at FDR were very good. I get communication all the time. Working with them took a lot of stress out of my life. At first, it was awful, till we got through the tough parts of the negotiation. But then it was much better, it was a relief. However, they would send an email and they'd say I'd have to act right away. I also didn't know that I would be getting served papers, which was frightening. But that was the only thing. What FDR does is they break it down. You're not getting away with anything, You're paying what you owe. Interest is astronomical and ridiculous. It was such a benefit to have that broken down. They played the middleman, which was great.

Before FDR I paid my bills EVERY month. At your direction, I stopped, to pay you. Now I am being sued. I'm told I have legal help but I can't talk to them. That's not ok. I just need to have a conversation, WITH LEGAL, about my situation. When I call I get the same answers "They'll reach out if they need to contact you." Well the legal document is in MY NAME, not yours, so I need to know if something is, or is not, happening so I know how to protect myself. I have a deadline given by the court that I must meet. As a customer who chose to work with FDR, and BECAUSE of working with FDR, I am being sued. So I would think you would allow your customers access to the legal help you SAY you offer as a support. I have seen nothing of it. I am being denied access to the legal support and my clock is running on my legal response.

I am going through a divorce and my ex husband to be, is responsible for half of the debt owed. I was given a number that is supposedly half. I asked her if I were to pay it off today, I need the proper amount. Then, she put it in writing and it says it may not be final. Freedom has a good reputation and that was part of the reason why I signed up with them. They quickly and efficiently relieved my debt. In working with their customer service, it's all confidential. They call me by name and they don't make me feel guilty for being an idiot. When we came into a legal snag, they fixed it up right away and I didn't have to sweat anything. They had a legal team right there and it didn't cost me a penny. In fact, I got a rebate from them. I've been with the company for a couple of years now and I have about one more year to go. I had five different accounts with FDR. Two of them were totally resolved, one will finish up next month, and then the other two will take another year or so to finish up. The last account that they took on, it took them a while to negotiate a price. But it was more of the company that they were dealing with than they themselves. I was constantly getting phone calls from this last account, and I even got one in the last couple of weeks after they had already worked out a deal. The few times I answered and talked to them, I tried to explain that I was working with a company that was trying to work out the payment that I couldn't do at that time. Overall, FDR is taking care of things and I've recommended them to several people that I know.

I am very pleased with the service FDR has provided in settling my debts, with one exception. While in the process of negotiating different smaller debts and getting settlement smaller than the amount owing, however, they left the largest debt unaddressed until the very end. In that time interest and penalties caused the $10,000 credit card debt to become over $14,000. It was given over to a debt collector who refused to settle for anything but a full amount payoff. Thought I’d be further in the process. Have items sitting in collections that won’t negotiate. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been super helpful and nice. Had settlements I lost that are not wanting to renegotiate. I understand I have to pay more to negotiate quicker but when I’m paying almost $600 a month already the way the economy is it’s hard to pay extra.

Well I have one item that needs to be addressed. A couple of years ago I called in to find out what I could do to expedite the matter. Then I was told by a Rep that I needed to have 25% in the account for them to be able to reach out and make an offer. I had called be called because I was being harassed by the company that was trying to collect. They also made me an offer of 6k to settle the account. All this info was passed on to FDR. So I waited until there was way more than the 25% and called in a couple of months ago. Since that time I have been given the runaround. Even one of the Reps failing to document my concerns. It was the second or third time that I reached a Rep that documented my concerns and advised me that she would send an email to elevate my case. After getting no email or response from anyone and after a few more weeks I called in again and reached a gentleman that really helped and seemed to get things rolling.
However this time I was told that I would have to have 11k in the account before a settlement could be sought. This is 5k more than the original offer the company that was seeking restitution was asking. However I understand that no negotiation has happened yet and it still could be settled for less. Nonetheless the extra 5k was not what I was expecting to hear and I really felt this was a way to keep me in the system and gather $758 a month from me. I feel my case has been overlooked to some degree and hope it still can be negotiated for the 25% I was originally told by you. Thanks in advance.

I was presented with a much quicker time frame for resolving my debt when presented with this as an option. I would of probably made a different decision based on the true timeline than what I did make initially. I feel this has hurt my credit as much as if not more than a bankruptcy would of.

Worst customer service Rep I have ever dealt with. That’s twice I’ve spoken to him and same crap attitude. Talks over people, belittles customers, puts you on hold and never returns. He needs to be trained that he works for us and if he is miserable at his job; Taco Bell is hiring.

The debt consultant explained to me all of the details, the process that I needed to go through, how it'll work, and what my monthly payments would be. There are times when I'm not able to make a payment, and I had to postpone it for a couple of weeks. Then every time I've asked FDR to help me, they were able to help me and they were very flexible. I'm able to keep making my house payments and pay my other bills working with them.

I know the charges, so much percentage goes towards FDR, which is a little high. But it's better than paying the full amount and being late. So far, so good. I only have one more debt to go and that's about it. It's taking a little long but it's better than owing money. Overall, Freedom Debt Relief sounded more convincing in what I would gain. I don't have perfect credit right now, but it is getting better little by little.

Great experience using Freedom Debt Relief. They were very helpful anytime I called them with questions. They were flexible if I had to change my payment date if it didn’t line up with my paychecks. Definitely recommend if you have debt, you’re unable to pay and want a set monthly payment and only pay about half of the original debt amount.

I have been working with them for years now. I'm soon finished paying off all the debt accumulated from a bad relationship, & they made it very simple. I recently got some scary paperwork regarding a lawsuit from one of the unsettled credit card companies ... I made one phone call to them and they took over! Within days I received an email from the attorney representing me and I simply had to respond by text with a simple confirmation number. And all that worry was behind me. The payment plan is doable. It's a good pace for me. The only downside is I have to be employed. But that's the requirement. I got the “if you need a lawyer” thing, just in case. Freedom Debt Relief was the easiest option to go with. My rep also had personal experience with debt so to her, it was more than just a job. It was a passion to help somebody out of a tight spot, like she was in. After we talked about the debt and I finally decided to sign up, she assured me that it was the right thing to do. She explained to me the program, all the options, my responsibility to pay, and it’s worked out well since.
Their customer service people are on point. Every time I call and have a question or need to make an adjustment in the frequency or amount of my withdrawal, they’ve always been courteous. They let me know about settlements in a reasonable amount of time and give good advice. One thing they started doing that I liked is they would send out emails about my debt and follow-up letters in between during the month to give me some education and let me know what the status of my account is. That's helpful ‘cause it keeps reminders in front of me.
Freedom Debt Relief has gotten me out of debt quicker. It has improved my credit score tremendously. It’s given me a new outlook on finances. I'm probably about 80% of the way through the program. Their fees are a little high but that's okay because they're saving me thousands in interest. Versus constantly taking out personal loans which have high interest rates, why not settle the debt? When you're paying at a high-interest rate, it's a no-win situation. At least, this is a winning situation where you may come out of it a little bruised, but it’s fair.

I have talked to different people and got very different answers. I put in a complaint but also asked questions to verify information. My questions were dismissed. I am trying to pay off my debt early which I thought was the goal and I’m being punished. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Updated on 01/14/2023: FDR was a godsend for us. Seriously, we got in way over our heads to the tune of $170,000 in debt. I had been dying and there was no cure so we both just decided to do my bucket list and forget everything else. Well, that was fine until we came back to reality in 2017; I was still alive, they had new drugs for my illness and without our children, we would have been homeless. So, we pulled out act together, signed on with FDR and bit the bullet and started paying down our debts. It wasn't easy, but we still paid them off with the help of shrewd negotiation by FDR six months before we had expected. We are now debt free and doing very well.
I found a doctor in San Francisco, Dr. Chanda **, who treated me and finally cured me of my disease and now we are back on the Central Coast enjoying our life and looking forward to my husband's retirement in six more months. I received a summons over the week-end and was wondering if it would be okay to mail it to you, instead of over the computer. The first person I talked to wasn't any help at all. So I called back a little while later. The second person I talked to was very informative. I explained I wasn't computer savvy. She told me, no problem I could mail it in. I was told from the start not to make anymore payments so they could negotiate a amount. Because of that I had a lot of late payment fees and know I have to pay the full amount, about 2000 more than the card amount started at.
We appreciate you voicing your concerns regarding the program, Allan. Being enrolled with Freedom Debt Relief will negatively impact credit since the client is voluntarily agreeing to stop making payments to their creditors. If a client continues making these payments, then their creditors will have no reason to negotiate with us and reduce what they owe. This also impacts the credibility of stating the client is going through hardship if the creditor can clearly see on a Credit Report that the client is still able to make payments each month. We need to wait for their monthly deposits to build up in order to have enough funds to settle their accounts. Strategically, however, this could be a good thing! The more and more the client's accounts go past due, creditors become more and more willing to accept a lower percentage of what is owed. Remember our clients are carrying a credit card balance from month to month, interest is charged on a daily basis, and it affects both the existing balance and any new purchases that post to their account. The interest you’re charged one day also becomes part of the balance accruing interest the next. In other words, credit card interest compounds daily. Even with our settlement fee, maintenance fee, and taxes, those totals could not exceed the compound rates like credit cards. Paying FDR was almost harder/worse than paying the minimum on each of my cards. Since there's no wiggle room with the monthly payment, they almost made me consider bankruptcy. In the end, they did what they said they would, negotiated my accounts. But then they also charge so many fees; was it worth it? Not sure. I'd try other avenues before FDR if I could go back.

The person from Freedom Debt Relief that I talked to was very nice and she explained the situation to me. I understood it, but at the same time, I was frustrated because when I first signed into the program, they told me that I would be graduating in four years and now it turns out to be five years. I will be paying 21 out of the 30 with some change that I owe, so $10,000 of savings sounds good. But it turned out to be it's not going to be that way. I’m just going to be saving $3,000 which I'm not too happy with.

My husband and I wanted to get out of debt. But how can we, when we are living pay check to pay check. We searched and searched until we found Freedom Debt Relief. It is really a relief. The monthly deposit needed to pay off the debts is easy in the pocket. We were able to save some from our monthly income. Only 2 accounts are waiting for settlement. Around 4 or 5 were fully paid. Freedom was very accurate. Their reps stayed on the phone and explained the whole thing to me. They did a very good job at that. But, FDR's monthly rate gets to be a little bit high. Also, it's taking a while for them to get with the creditor people and settle the amount that I would owe them.

And turn over my acct to collection. Discovery wanted me to sign an IRS form 4506-C which I understand from reading it is that they want my tax records for the last 2 years. I felt Representative was a little blasé and could not help with IRS form. Not what I expected. I signed the form, felt I had no choice. Freedom Debt Relief has so far, been good. Their reps made me feel comfortable with their knowledge and the answers they had for the questions that I asked. I only had one thing that I had to do. I ended up having to do one of the debts myself because of the misunderstanding between me and the person I was talking to on the phone. So, it went outside of FDR's thing. Other than that, everything was done pretty well. I got everything they said I’d get through the mail. Everything’s hooked up with them that I needed to do on my part. So they were very helpful in getting that setup. Any questions I have, I can call at any time. If anybody answers and they’re friendly, that’s why I’m here.
Freedom has cut down half of what everybody was asking for. Even being with my bank for 15 years, they didn't even offer me what Freedom did. What they offered was double and I couldn't afford that anymore. Make a call to Freedom, get information and then decide. Ever since I did, I'm not stressed out.

Freedom Debt Relief is taking care of me. They started showing me how to pay them every month, and they're taking care of the credit cards. I just make my payments every two weeks. The only thing that irritated me was the time that's supposed to be done with the program. It ended up being a whole another year because of their negotiations. It was supposed to be done at the end of this year, and now it’s next year.

Updated on 4/3/2023: I am so grateful for FDR! I was having trouble with my credit and it has gotten so much better after starting the program, and I have so much less stress about my credit. I tell everyone I know about this program in hopes that it can help them also.

Freedom Debt Relief has done a lot for me. They are getting me out of debt. Right at the time in 2016 when I had to stop working due to a disability. It has taken a few years but I'm almost completely out of debt. Oh, what a relief!

Yes I would recommend FDR. If it weren’t for you I would still be accruing interest and struggling to pay off my credit cards. I started off with a high debt. It has been a struggle but I am getting there and never intend to get in debt again.

Settlement fees high. Term is never 48 months as stated in the beginning. % debt reduction is also not accurate as promised upon starting the program. Will not recommend FDR to any friends or family. Totally different from what is promised when starting program…

The entire process has been very easy and above all they erased a lot of stress from my life! They have been able to negotiate with the banks to decrease the total amount of debt owed. Taking too long for final 2 settlements. Very dissatisfied with how long it takes to finalize. Have more than enough money deposited to settle. Feel like things could be finalized - paying fees for payments & accounts could be settled in one payment each. Very frustrating.

Called about charge to account closed. The representative was very helpful. Told me to contact store for help in resolving issue. She was correct. Found out what charge was and everything was okay. Charge was made by me using my debit card not credit card.

It seemed like Freedom Debt Relief knew what was going on being AAA rated. I did a lot of research, and it sounded very good. Plus, I have a good friend that used it.
