I would highly recommend Freedom Debt Relief to anyone looking to "get rid of" accumulated debt in a relatively easy way. Having my "decent" credit turn not-so-great was a difficult part of the process but now I have excellent credit and my debt is gone (win-win)! It was difficult to give the control of my debt over to someone else but once I did it was a huge weight off my shoulders. I do not regret my decision to go this route at all. Thank you FDR!

Overall my experience was very good but on several occasions I had to call in to find out how the status of settlement was going on several occasions there was no status because there was no activity. Things would have gone faster if there was consistent settlement activity meaning that After you settle one account continuously working on the next account. There was always lag time.

I did not realize the negotiation fees were so expensive and the end would be a loan. The people that I worked with were very nice and handled all my question. I think maybe I expected too much at the end of the process.

Keep in mind that our settlement fees are bigger savings than having to pay your creditors the full 100% of the debt owed + interest % + any additional fees they charge. Yes, your creditor may have presented a lower settlement amount, but that is just to pull you back in so they could hit you with having to pay the full balance. Our settlements are secure and offer you a reduction in your debt that will lead you to become financially free. The frontline defense needs a little bit of help. I think they get frustrated sometimes. I cannot blame them, the 2nd line of defense where I met Jason ** was excellent, I receive the information I needed to proceed. It was the explanation not necessarily the process.

I was paying more into the fund to decrease the time I have to pay into it. Instead of it decreasing the amount of time. It's increased mainly because your negotiations are paying a bare minimum for an extended time period.

FDR has put the initial steps in place to begin paying my creditors. However, I was expecting a call from Customer Service on 3/22 and was disappointed that no one called. I received excellent dashboard help. Confused with Wallet Hub. Of course, my acc’t are negative.

The fees and charges are extortionate in my opinion and once you add those you're not saving much money in the long term. Your credit history is impacted a lot and takes years to recover. They claim your credit history will return within a few months - lies! If you get a 1099c from creditors you have to include that as income in your tax returns. They tell you you can file a form 4681 to avoid paying taxes on income associated with a 1099c however the rules for insolvency as defined by the IRS (especially if you own a home) means you can't use it anyways. If at all possible avoid getting into credit card debt or take a loan to pay it off rather than consolidated debt relief plan.

Credit Cards, I went through a divorce and had two young children. I have to pay Freedom Debt Relief every month, and I've been doing that since 2019. They've been a little slow. But we're getting there. They've lowered some stuff. But I'm still paying the amount that I pay every month. To get out of the program, I have to put in a bit more sometimes. But they're fair. They've been treating me all right.

I am pleased FDR did negotiate the outstanding amount down with my creditors but was expecting a bit more to be discounted. Overall they did good. This was the first negotiation they did, I hope in the coming days they will be able negotiate a larger amount off my big outstanding accounts.

A very serious company, at first I was hesitant to contact them because they are in California and I live in Florida, I asked for references and got the best ones, now I have been with them since May 2019, and they have resolved several credit card debts for me and still I continue with them. My experience with FDR has been mostly positive and when there was an issue, it was resolved rather quickly. The customer service reps were helpful and kind anytime I reached out. I had initially thought my debt would be completely resolved by now, it has taken longer than originally stated but I can now see the end date and it’s reasonable.

I thought the point of a debt relief was to save money and not affect your credit score. In the process, a lot was added to collections on my score and I spent more in this program than I would’ve paying the debt off myself.

Updated on 10/28/2022: Do not choose this company for your debt relief. They have lied to me since the very beginning and absolutely ruined my credit and caused me over 2 years of terrible stress. I finally had to pull my debt from them and hire an atty. They are not up front with their fees. They do not work with your creditors and do not believe them when they tell you "they are there for you". They are not. They do not have Sr. persons in the company that assist, all clerks read from scripts. I can give you facts about how they lied and did not protect my debts. This is the worst decision you will make.
Original Review: I would not recommend this company. They will tell you a lot of things to get you to sign up. First, you will be sued by your creditors, YOU must show up to court, they do not show up for you nor do they work with court mediation. I now have 4 judgements against me because no one told me this from the beginning, in fact they said only about 4% of people get sued. Dead wrong! Also, they collect their fees first, so after sending faithfully over $29K plus additional deposits they have collected 9.9K in fees, does not leave much for further negotiations. One of the settlements I just had to go to court for and I got a full judgement I have to pay the courts. Freedom tried to tell me I still owe them fees for the account to be removed, even though they did nothing! I now have 3 other court dates for the other judgements which will go the same way.
Hire an atty. I explored and an Atty. is way cheaper and they are much more aggressive. They will tell you they settle debt at Freedom at about 30% when they sign you up, 2 of the only 4 they have settled in a year and a 1/2 were at 70%. The rest at 40%. Combine that with their fees, you save nothing! These are all facts. I am stuck with a program that does not have my interest in mind.

Updated on 08/17/2022: I turned to Freedom Debt Relief when I was at the end of my rope. I had so much debt that I couldn’t sleep at night. I didn’t want to answer my phone or even look in my mailbox. I found Freedom Debt through an Ad, skeptical - but I got into the program and now my debts are paid!!! I would recommend Freedom Debt Relief to everyone going through the same thing as I did. They do all the work for you and I’m extremely happy with the results. You don’t have to constantly worry about how in the world you will be able to pay your monthly debt and still have money to live on. You have nothing to lose….Freedom from your debts is doable.

They have taken a giant load off of my back, and I think the monthly payments are fair, and my debt’s have been settled in a very fair amount of time. I told Freedom Debt Relief how much I was in debt and they set me up on a payment plan that I can afford. They also talked to my creditors and got some of what I owed knocked down so I can get it paid off quicker. It was great. I do not have the stress of the creditors calling me.

I appreciate the customer service and support, but the fees collected by Freedom Debt Relief were nearly as much as the debt reduction. The service is ‘good’ because it keeps you on track with becoming debt free, but it really doesn’t save much money at all.

When I signed up for FDR they said 4 years. I have never missed a payment,did everything they said. BUT... when it was almost 4 yes time I noticed on my account it said I had a year extra. I called them and they said we'll it could be longer. My next time I looked said a year and half more. Should of ended in 10-2021 but now says 1/23/2023. I have so much money in my account with them that that could pay everything off today 3/2022 and pocket almost $1,800. I would never recommend them to anyone. When you call they won't give you a supervisor and tell you this is how the program works. Apparently there is extra small print that I can't find.

I would highly recommend using if you're in a situation like I was. Drowning in debt after a major surgery and loss of work. The only downfall is credit goes to crapper but that's where I was headed anyway. So all good review from me!!

I called FDR and paid off balance they said I owed on February 4, 2022. Now, here it is the middle of March and I’m still receiving correspondence about money owed. I think 6 weeks is plenty of time to take care of this. Plus! You are still debiting my account for the monthly charges for FDR. I don’t owe you any more money, why would you take out the monthly charge?

I have been with the FDR program for over 3 years. I am delighted to say I have just graduated and debt free!! The key is to follow the rules. I did follow them and it was smooth sailing, I never missed a payment for one thing and read all information and just did as I was asked to do. Freedom wasted no time with getting me approved and jumping into the work to start settling accounts. By my first payment they settled 1 account. With a previous experience from another company who never settled after 7 payments this blow me away how fast the ball started moving. Your credit score takes a severe nosedive in the beginning. It does recover slowly, but does not return to the level it was prior to the start of the program. Consider very carefully. There might be better options available now. I do not endorse or condemn this program.

Initial agent talked very fast and was very pushy in signing me up. I was motivated to start paying down my debt however so I went with it. Was supposed to setup 2 payments to come out of my account each month with the first starting on the 25th of March. He however had the first payment come out for the full amount on the 25th of February. Which caused a negative balance on my account and an over draft fee. They are not willing to reimburse me for the fee, stating any fees due to insufficient funds is not their responsibility, even though they admitted to the mistake of setting up the withdrawal for the wrong date. Due to this, I am unsure at this time if I will continue to use them because I am wary of more mistakes like this that could cost me money.

As far as the progress with Freedom Debt in paying off my bills, they have been extremely helpful, not fast, but helpful, except for the lack of cooperation in changing due dates for paying my bills, they reluctantly cooperated with me in changing it, but let me emphasize the word, reluctantly. But in the end we are getting closer and almost there, a little more help in the personal relations would have helped but overall we did well.

I had significant financial difficulties when I did this because I had been out of a job for 3 years. Net Credit stated I missed a payment therefore I owed full amount. FDR told me it was my responsibility to resolve the issue not FDR. I still don’t know if the issue is resolved. I contacted bank. I ended up paying several thousand dollars over the amount we agreed on. Half way through the program I sold my house and put a large deposit into my Freedom Debt Relief account. I paid off all my accounts and asked freedom debt relief close my account and refund the remaining balance in my account which was 5,700. Instead they made a double payment to 3 different accounts, creating 5,400 in overpayment. They then told me they could not recover the funds, that I had to try and call each creditor myself to recover their overpayment. I have not had any success in this. The company does not take responsibility for their mistakes and expects the customer to fix their mistakes.

When I called Freedom Debt Relief, they were really nice and took me through the steps. They told me one thing after another, and what was the process. So far, they have exceptional service. They have been very informative, educated in regards to my account, my debts, and what I have enrolled. So they have been very good customer service to us. Accessing the client portal has been very easy. I see every single dedicated account. It tells me how much I've been paying into, how many payments I have left, and how much the debt reduction has been. It's good enough information and what I need on my end.
Right now, when Freedom negotiates my debt, they send me a text message and then I also get an email saying, “Hey, this is being negotiated.” So far, where they have been negotiating the prices, it has been a huge difference. I'm very pleased and satisfied with the negotiation that they have been doing. When my husband saw that everything was turning out really good on my end, he enrolled himself with his debts too. So Freedom has helped us out a lot. We've been telling friends and family that if they’re ever in the same position as we were economically, we asked them to go ahead and take a look at Freedom's website and give them a call. I have given explicit instructions REPEATEDLY to no avail. They continue to try and dig up ancient debt that I specifically chose not to enroll, and even though I have demanded they stop, at least 20 times, it continues. The alerts I turn off, still get them. Every time I deal with customer service it's basically, "Sorry about your luck." They don't care and won't do anything to rectify the situation. Terrible service. But now for the worst part... When I enrolled, they gave a specific amount and estimate it's already gone past that, and yet they want to continue. You would be far better served to just do this on your own without the fees. I have informed them that on 11/22 this ends whether my debt is settled or not. I would not recommend to anyone and will NEVER use this service again.

Would not recommend to anyone, EVER Did not save any money actually wound up paying more. Continued to take money even after they had enough to cover my bills and fees. Kept taking money even after ALL my debts were settled. Seem to be avoiding graduating me from the program so they can continue taking money. If they take any more money I'm probably going to sue them. They gave me a pay off twice... I paid it and then was told that essentially that's not a thing so I sent them all that money just to continue getting jerked around.

When I talked to Freedom Debt Relief, I felt more comfortable than other companies I talked to. They make you feel like they're going to help you out better than most places would. They explained everything, very quick and easy. I was on the phone an hour just going over everything, and they made sure all my debt was in there and asked me if I had anything else that didn't show up. I told them, no. They told me the program would be two years. They said, "Between trying to get them to settle and then finally getting to settle and build up your money, this is how long it'll take." Any question I had, the reps came up with the answer. The first couple of questions I asked were "How long it's gonna take?" and "What's the most they can do for me?" In the beginning, Freedom Debt Relief told me it would take around four years given my issues, but they need the whole payment. So it's taking little over than four.

Had my wife and I had not been misled you may have received a higher rating but after getting into the program and then in it for over 3 years and then finding out that we have another five more years to go brings your rating down to at least a one for the dishonest information we were given in.

All of my accounts were settled near half of my balance of each card. Kudos to your efforts. However the last account lingered on and on for several months even after I submitted an offer for a third of the balance. After a couple phone calls, finally got transferred to the right person and he got it finalized. So I'm officially credit card debt free and I couldn't have done it alone. They lie to you in the beginning about lots of fees. I paid the whole amount. I ended up paying the whole debt and then fees to them as well. When you call customer service they just ignore you. Get them to tell you everything about fees.

They already charge a lot of fees. Which is fine. They are doing a service. But I’m also being charged additional “2 day check fees” when it isn’t necessary. I have the settlement agreements for the 3 accounts and none of them say anything about that.. $10 a month for 3 accounts. They blame the bank.. It’s ridiculous. I will be charged minimum $650 and up to $2500 in fees for 2 day checks. When in my contract it states overnight checks are $0, standard is $3. I tried to have them stop this and they refuse or say it’s out of their hands. I asked for overnight which makes more sense and they say they can’t. It’s ** really. I’m not saying I don’t recommend. However I strongly suggest you pay attention. One of the contracts even states they can pay it online. They refuse. Why?

The creditor also decides the method of payment fro settlement agreements and unfortunately we are unable to wave those fees. Making any changes to the settlement payment requirements can cause a settlement to go null and void, the good news is your monthly draft already covers those fees as long as no changes are made. I feel the fees were not made clear and ended up being much higher than we knew and took more money out of our account which made the timeframe of paying off our accounts longer. We did finally finish it though.

I would definitely recommend Freedom Debt to help consolidate loans that have become too much to pay. I found myself in debt when the interest rates and minimum payments on credit cards became overwhelming and I could not pay them. I have been with them for 5 years and have made every single payment asked except 1 when my husband lost his job. I called and explained the situation to them and instead of making the agreed upon payment to the creditor and keeping the negotiated settlement alive, they instead took their fee which then did not leave enough for the scheduled payment to the creditor. That negotiated settlement fell through with only 2 payments to go. Later when it was re-negotiated, the payoff was then substantially more seeing as how they had already received more than 1/2 of the previously negotiated amount. Nothing further happened until January of this year.
Was notified that the final account that was to be negotiated had been written off by the creditor so the account that was currently being paid off was the final account. They had scheduled payments of about $10 up until the final payment which was going to be a large lump sum. I called and was told that FDR had already taken their fee so the only thing left was the payoff. I calculated the remaining payments and added the $3.00 ACH fee and made a new deposit in that amount to my dedicated account. It left my bank on 2/18 but did not post to my dedicated account until today 2/25. Every other withdrawal from my checking account has posted to my dedicated account within 2 days. Not this time. Of course, they could not put the request in for the lump sum payment until all the funds had posted to the dedicated account.
The next payment to the creditor was scheduled for 2/28. Guess what, that payment was processed today along with a $3.00 ACH fee. So now, my dedicated account is $3.00 short to make the lump sum payment. They are also stating that it takes approximately 30 days to process a lump sum payment which means that they will deduct another $19.25 on 3/7 for additional service fees. So now, to pay off my last creditor, I have to deposit an additional $22.25 into the dedicated account because they are greedy as hell and don't give a crap about you personally. Every time I call I get a different answer and each person tells me that I was given misinformation and that what they are telling me is correct. I am done. They will more than likely get the additional $22.25 out of me because I was this over and done with but if I were you, I would look elsewhere for a debt consolidation company.

Was told credit score would take a temporary “dip,” two years later still down 80 points! No new accounts paying off everything and the last creditor reports me every week!!!!! I would have done better on my own after all this time.

I am very satisfied with the work done. Only thing is that the fees are very high. Then again I'm proud. Almost done. Will I get a done zero balance letter after I graduate? Just would like to have in order to check my credit score.

Your fees are way too high. You even charged me twice for 2 accounts. When I was unable to make payments during early pandemic. 600.00 for a 1800.00 debt you charged me for the 2nd time. I will not be recommending anyone use your service.

I was lead to believe that the debt would be settled in 3 years and that I would save 30-50%. However, it's been 3 years, we still haven't settled all the debt and the true savings is probably 10% because they consider it a50% savings based on all the added fees from non payment not from the original debt. I ruined my credit, have collections still on there and it will be at least 2 more years before it is resolved. Meaning it took 5 years which means I spent over 14,000 on approx 13000 in original debt enrolled. Don't see how that is a savings and where it benefited me at all. I would never use this type of service ever again and I definitely would not recommend anyone I know use it.
