Everything seemed pretty easy with Freedom Debt Relief. It all went through well. It was explained to me how everything would work and everything went to plan so far. Until I get it paid off, my credit is still crappy. But I've been able to work and get it better and try to get some of those things paid down.

I was drowning in Debt with creditors calling me every day. I contacted Freedom Debt Relief and they took care of everything for me. Such a relief to not get those phone calls every day. They helped me to get out of debt. They had to go to court for two of my bills and there was able to negotiate. Even though they didn't reduce my debt Freedom Debt Relief did not charge me a fee because I've got to pay back the whole amount.

In 2018 I was struggling financially after being recently married and significant changes to loss of wages. I didn't know who or where to turn to regarding my financial situation. The payment towards debt are too small just to keep customers longer in the program. My program should end in September this year. There will be no extra payment passing this period. Imagine sending only $5 per month while getting $145 biweekly from me. Terrible and upsetting.

The entire process has been exceptional until I get to the graduation part. It seems like I am being kept in the program just to keep taking money from my bank account and to charge me fees. I say this because all my debt has been taken care of yet one item shows a $0 balance and it is pending resolution. If it had not been for the grief I have been getting to get graduated, I would have given a 5 star.

Program started great, everything was moving along as it should, first few settlements went according to plan, but then as I approached the finish line, we had a lot of setbacks and the communication was horrendous. There was a period of over six months where there was no action on my account even though I had more than enough funds to settle my last account. I would call monthly and I would be told there wasn't enough funds on my account to negotiate. I would be put through to supervisors who would communicate with me and promise results.
After exchanging emails they would stop writing back after two weeks and leave me in the dust. This went on for months until someone finally took ownership of my account and after a two week period, after six months of no action, my last account was paid in full because they were unable to negotiate a settlement. I am not an unrealistic person, I understand that some companies can be difficult and refuse to negotiate. What is not acceptable is for this process to take six months and for three supervisors to kick me to the curb and refuse to communicate with me.
The system is set up that even though I had more than enough funds in my account and I was proactively reducing my monthly draft because there was enough funds to negotiate, it would generate a statement that I would have to pay more into the account to start negotiating. The techs are unable to see or understand that there was enough funds to negotiate and a continuous back and forth would emerge where I was left hanging over and over again. I am happy that it is all over, but the last six months of the program were brutal for me.

I am somewhat confused about this program. At this time I thought I had paid my debt off but money is still coming out of account. I spoke to a representative last week and realize she needs customer service training. Clearly she does not have customer service skills. Looking forward to ending with Freedom.

When you originally talk to Freedom they understand the problem and during the whole process it’s easy to use the website. When you sometimes need to change your payment. Some months you can send them the whole Amt and sometimes you can and using the website can help with that.

I am just now being able to pay something toward the account. I requested to have a review of my monthly pay due to (back then) COVID related loss of income. I never got the review, when I said I would get legal help they said I needed to fill out a document and they could take into consideration, this was never true. As of today I have 3 accounts left that they already took the “fees” for. So basically I am stuck with them because “I already paid them” so whatever. Terrible way of working, one of the accounts actually went to collections and my credit has declined for the last 30 months.

Keep in mind that our settlement fees are bigger savings than having to pay your creditors the full 100% of the debt owed + interest % + any additional fees they charge. We only charge our settlement fee once an account is settled and we have sent out at least one payment towards that creditors settlement. I am quite happy with my relationship with FDR. Interacting with Customer Service is easy and they are knowledgeable about the Product and eager to help. If they do not know the answer. We are only in the beginning of our journey but have been pleased at the early results. We have received a settlement of 50% of our debt with one creditor. I feel everything we have been told has been the truth and will be on our path to debt relief sooner than first projected. We were told that might happen and am very pleased.

Excellent Service from Brittany and the other female I spoke with confirming information. I also had additional legal paperwork that I was able to get to them for the legal team to handle so that I didn't have to deal with this mean, rude and extremely unprofessional man from a collection agency. The program works. Just stick with the payment schedule and everything works as advertised. I will be completely debt free in less than half of the time I would have been making the scheduled payments. It will be wonderful to finally be debt free.

Not happy with the way settlement payment are made. I gave extra money in dedicated account. Only thing that was done first settlement payment was $1100. If the extra money wasn’t there that high amount would not been paid. I feel that was extremely high amount for the first payment. If that extra money wasn’t there what amount would have been paid?

For years I’ve been paying bank cards credit cards and all I was paying was interest. I found myself falling behind on payments. I couldn’t keep up with payments but Freedom debt relief came in the picture and Lord thank you. God bless them today. I got rid of one big credit card debt and working on the others. I Liked the negotiating down of debt by 50%, 60%, or more. The process also seems to salvage one's credit score a bit during the duration of service. Constant updating and flexibility is also of great usefulness should something occur to cause a one to reduce monthly contributions e.g. covid.

So far I have yet to receive a welcome call but I most certainly have been charged 2 months worth of "account fees" so all in all I started $30 more in the hole than I was when I started with FDR. The sales person was great at selling. Thought they really cared about me but it seems like FDR doesn't. Just my opinion so far.

When I finally looked at my account, line item charge for line item charge, I can not believe the amount I paid in fees. Fees for NGT. A monthly service fee. If they want a cashiers check, a 2 day check fee. Not to mention the fee for you to resolve the account, Which sometimes was more than the amount the credit card company settled for. Now I got the loan approved to pay all this off. I send the letter that says what my last settlement will settle for, and with the fee it comes out to more even though they settle for less. And now you all are dragging your feet on this so you can get one more payment from me. Next time I will handle my debt consolidation myself. I will also recommend that to everyone else who ask me about it. Thanks.

I signed up with Freedom debt relief about four years ago because I was in debt. They told me everything I wanted to hear, what they didn’t tell me was all the hidden fees that come with the program. My credit took a big hit for the first three years. Credit score improved after the fourth year. In the end it would have been better for me to have tried to negotiate with the credit card companies with monthly payments instead. The hidden fees in the end add up to the same amount that the credit card companies charge with their interest..

They did not get 50% off of my accts. I should never had enrolled. And I would never tell anyone they should. It was a bad experience and as I said they didn’t get me the percentage off that they said they would.

Customer service is great. Any questions I've ever had, I just called Freedom Debt Relief. They answered them right away for me. They were very good with me. When I first went into it, my credit score dropped. But it has gone right up now. So, I'm really happy with them. And they took care of everything for me. The amount of money that I paid out was half of what I was paying every month. So I was able to save money, too, which was nice. I would highly recommend them for anybody that's in debt. I told a cousin, "Why didn't you go with Freedom?" She's getting all these letters from the people that she's in debt with and constantly having to go to court. It's terrible. You need to mail out paper copies to your clients sooner, so that we can prepare our tax returns in a more timely manner. Some of us do not have access to a printer! Last year, it arrived so late that I had to pay my preparer to create an Amended Return - boo!

We started our program with Freedom Debt Relief in May 2018 and enrolled approximately $29k in debt. We made our payments consistently for the first 2 years until the pandemic hit in March 2020, and even still made sure to keep in touch to make consistent payments throughout so we could keep our program as best on track as possible. By the time March 2020 rolled around, we had already paid nearly $11k into our program ($487 per month for 22 months) and had only resolved 2 small accounts. We still had 2 $10k loans, and several larger credit cards and a health bill to settle, so it made it difficult for me to understand how FDR could have already taken $11k of our money by March 2020 and tell us that our projected graduation was not until 2030. If this were true, that meant we would have been on the FDR program for 12 years and paid over $70k to our dedicated account when we only enrolled $29k in debt in the program.
When asked how that could be, FDR reps continuously said that is just the way it is and would try to explain away how $29k could somehow translate to $70k when the mere point of this program was to provide relief and negotiate lesser amounts so we do not even have to pay the full $29k back. In November 2021 we hit our lowest point financially since the start of the pandemic and subsequently stopped making payments to our FDR program because this was not considered as important as other bills to us.
During this time we realized that FDR was not doing much for us, so we decided to remove all but 2 accounts from the program so we could settle ourselves. 2 of the accounts were legal accounts, 1 of which we already ended up settling on our own directly with the attorneys and has since been paid in full. The other we are working on negotiating and should have this resolved by end of May/early June. We also pulled another credit account from the program with a balance of $1300 that did not involve attorneys that I was able to settle and since pay in full for only $576. If we had stayed with FDR for these accounts, we would have ended up paying much more and waited much longer to have them fully settled. Additionally, one of the $10k loans we had on the account was written off as bad debt and we were issued a 1099-C to add on our tax filing for 2021.
This meant FDR only had one remaining account for us, our 2nd $10k loan, that needed to be negotiated and settled. However, when I reached out to them this week (week of 4/4/2022) to ask why my payment still needed to be $487/month they told me that it was due to the way the program was set up and that my payment amount would remain the same, regardless of whether I took accounts off or not. We did add an account during our time with FDR, however, which brought our monthly payment from the original $468 to $487, so it was obvious FDR had no problem increasing our program deposit when adding accounts, but they certainly wouldn't work with us when accounts were removed. This clearly made no sense to me and caused frustration. Therefore, I made the final decision to terminate our program and take the final account into my own hands for negotiation.
When we started with FDR, we had 9 enrolled accounts at $29,586 with a monthly payment of $468. We added 1 - 2 additional accounts and our payment landed at $487 per month. Of the nearly 4 years with FDR, we only settled 3 of our accounts, removed 4 (2 legal, 1 health bill and 1 creditor), had 1 written off as bad debt, and the final ($10k loan) in which was removed with the termination of our program this week. Essentially, we paid a whole lot of money, approximately $19k in monthly deposits to only have 3 accounts for a grand total of approximately $5k settled. Where did the other $14k go? Freedom Debt Relief is no better than the very creditors they claim to help relieve their customers from. They are a scam and are not out to help relieve your debt or stress, only make it worse and suck you into a money pit. I want my money back.

I do not like the structured settlements because it seems like they stretch the program out longer meaning more deposits. Sure, the accounts are getting paid without me having to do the negotiating. So, we are still in the program and will at least be in the short term.

The cutoff date seem like it too long. They do reach out to confirm my updates. Why not pay off the lowest amount first. I tried to purchase a air conditioner unit. But my Credit report was denied. My Credit report is important.

I signed up and they determined the amount I needed to pay each month. They made contact with all my creditors and negotiated an amount, which was a lot lower than I owed. Now 3 more payments and I’m finished. Thanks.

I am very happy I have gone with FDR to help me with my debt. My circumstances made it hard for me to pay my bills. FDR was able to take the stress from me and pay off my creditors. The 21% over the settlements is abusive, even more charge $10.00 for each creditor pay check (suppose to be included in the settlement). I am paying more than the debt I had at the beginning. I don’t recommend nobody this company, that’s all lies, I was informed I was going to pay about 70% less the original debt, it’s a lie, by the end of the program I’ll be pays over my original debt! Better you negotiate yourself with the creditors that will safe money for sure.

Everything was great. The only issue I have had with the app is I am unable to log in to review my progress. I have been trying for months. I have had to call in and have had very good customer service. I would like to know how much longer my payments will be coming out of my account. It seemed as if there was no way to pay these debts off. I contacted several debt relief companies to help us with it. The only person that was professional, friendly, answered my questions and explained the process well was the guy with Freedom Debt Relief. I'm slightly disappointed that it is going to take a bit longer than expected to get them all paid off, but when I look at the alternative, it isn't a big deal. The website is great. I can easily see everything on it.

Rocket Loans settlement is taking too long. Realizing this now, 3 years later when I started this I could have done this all myself 2 years quicker. I was lazy then. Also, once settlements are made they still; benefit FDR and the client more than the customer. Settlements are stretched out to 50 dollars a month for 36 payments when you have enough FDR balance to pay in to pay it off 3 times over.
Example: I have a settlement that the original balance was $584.21 and FDR settled with them at 233.68. Get this though! They stretched it out to 24 payments of 9 dollars a month when my FDR balance is $16,000! Just don't get how they could just pay off the 233.68 when I have a balance that large. The big thing here to remember people is we put ourselves in this situation, not FDR. Learn from me and just don't be lazy. You signed up for this...

The program of FDR worked pretty well. I still have another year and a half. It wasn't bad when I first started, but when I turned 65, my income dropped in half. So my debt is now more than a third of my income. If they could do a lesser amount for a longer period, they might get some lower-income people rather than filing bankruptcy.

When a creditor turns debt over to an attorney office to handle debt it would seem better if your legal team contacted then before a court summons is filed. Also your attorney's office should have more contact with client to get things done quickly and easily.

Depending who you speak with you receive all different confusing information. You cannot even be the deciding factor on paying off a credit card if you have other debts still visible because they do what they want with any additional deposits you make. I am very sorry that I've enrolled my debt and have to stay with them until everything is settled. Oh did I mention that I still had 2 credit cards that still have not even been negotiated with until 1 of them sued me (in the making for over a year) and I have been enrolled in the program for 2 years already. Now I get to go to court in 3 months with NO assistance from FDR (which they said in the beginning they would help with legal, but that was not true).
I didn't declare bankruptcy after getting a divorce as I wanted to honor the debt that I created with my spouse. Did you know that the credit card companies also can send you 1099s for the amount you save, which is considered to be income? Yeah me either...so really you are screwing yourself even harder as the fees you pay the company is basically what you are now being taxed on so you lose more money.
The remaining debt that they have not even negotiated with yet sent me a letter 2 years ago for half the amount of debt it is at now to payoff, but they told me to trust them and it would all workout. YES I stupidly trusted this company. I HIGHLY suggest that you look elsewhere when trying to settle your debt and consolidate as this company lets the debt continue to increase and sometimes you end up paying more on the debt then what you originally enrolled. THINK WISELY! At the time I had NO choice as the divorce and not having a job during COVID! Do NOT get taken advantage of like I did!!! ***WARNING....DANGER....****

Easy to follow and easy to change/customize process. Freedom is always available to help if you can't do it on the client dashboard. Almost anything can be done on the client dashboard. It's very intuitive and user friendly. Just stick to the program and deposit as much as you can as soon as you can. This way you can move past this.

For the most part I’m satisfied, but there’s 2 things that’s really upsetting me. The first thing is that from day 1 I’ve been asking y’all to add Mariner Finance to my debt. Y’all told me that they haven’t reported to any Credit bureaus that y’all wasn’t worried about them or that they're obviously not reporting me or something along those lines. They are suing me now and I’m still trying to get y’all to add these people. The other thing is I was told pay the $366 monthly on time I’ll be fine but now y’all keep sending me stuff wanting more money. Well if I had more money I wouldn't be in this situation.

I would highly recommend Freedom Debt Relief to anyone looking to "get rid of" accumulated debt in a relatively easy way. Having my "decent" credit turn not-so-great was a difficult part of the process but now I have excellent credit and my debt is gone (win-win)! Overall my experience was very good but on several occasions I had to call in to find out how the status of settlement was going on several occasions there was no status because there was no activity. Things would have gone faster if there was consistent settlement activity meaning that After you settle one account continuously working on the next account. There was always lag time.

I did not realize the negotiation fees were so expensive and the end would be a loan. The people that I worked with were very nice and handled all my question. I think maybe I expected too much at the end of the process.

I was paying more into the fund to decrease the time I have to pay into it. Instead of it decreasing the amount of time. It's increased mainly because your negotiations are paying a bare minimum for an extended time period.

The fees and charges are extortionate in my opinion and once you add those you're not saving much money in the long term. Your credit history is impacted a lot and takes years to recover. They claim your credit history will return within a few months - lies! If you get a 1099c from creditors you have to include that as income in your tax returns. They tell you you can file a form 4681 to avoid paying taxes on income associated with a 1099c however the rules for insolvency as defined by the IRS (especially if you own a home) means you can't use it anyways. If at all possible avoid getting into credit card debt or take a loan to pay it off rather than consolidated debt relief plan.

I thought the point of a debt relief was to save money and not affect your credit score. In the process, a lot was added to collections on my score and I spent more in this program than I would’ve paying the debt off myself.

Yes I have a excellent experience with Freedom. I takes a great deal of patience and understanding. I have worked with my advisor for almost four years and she has been helpful throughout the process. It helped that I was able to increase my contribution two years ago. That afforded me the ability to enroll another account.

Updated on 10/28/2022: Do not choose this company for your debt relief. They have lied to me since the very beginning and absolutely ruined my credit and caused me over 2 years of terrible stress. I finally had to pull my debt from them and hire an atty. They are not up front with their fees. They do not work with your creditors and do not believe them when they tell you "they are there for you". They are not. They do not have Sr. persons in the company that assist, all clerks read from scripts. I can give you facts about how they lied and did not protect my debts. This is the worst decision you will make.
Original Review: I would not recommend this company. They will tell you a lot of things to get you to sign up. First, you will be sued by your creditors, YOU must show up to court, they do not show up for you nor do they work with court mediation. I now have 4 judgements against me because no one told me this from the beginning, in fact they said only about 4% of people get sued. Dead wrong! Also, they collect their fees first, so after sending faithfully over $29K plus additional deposits they have collected 9.9K in fees, does not leave much for further negotiations. One of the settlements I just had to go to court for and I got a full judgement I have to pay the courts. Freedom tried to tell me I still owe them fees for the account to be removed, even though they did nothing! I now have 3 other court dates for the other judgements which will go the same way.
Hire an atty. I explored and an Atty. is way cheaper and they are much more aggressive. They will tell you they settle debt at Freedom at about 30% when they sign you up, 2 of the only 4 they have settled in a year and a 1/2 were at 70%. The rest at 40%. Combine that with their fees, you save nothing! These are all facts. I am stuck with a program that does not have my interest in mind.

Updated on 08/17/2022: I turned to Freedom Debt Relief when I was at the end of my rope. I had so much debt that I couldn’t sleep at night. I didn’t want to answer my phone or even look in my mailbox. I found Freedom Debt through an Ad, skeptical - but I got into the program and now my debts are paid!!! I would recommend Freedom Debt Relief to everyone going through the same thing as I did. They do all the work for you and I’m extremely happy with the results. You don’t have to constantly worry about how in the world you will be able to pay your monthly debt and still have money to live on. You have nothing to lose….Freedom from your debts is doable.
Original Review: They have handled the negotiations that always worked out very well in my favor. There was very little for me personally to do, which I very much appreciate. They have taken a giant load off of my back, and I think the monthly payments are fair, and my debt’s have been settled in a very fair amount of time. I would recommend Freedom Debt to family and friends… I already have.

I told Freedom Debt Relief how much I was in debt and they set me up on a payment plan that I can afford. They also talked to my creditors and got some of what I owed knocked down so I can get it paid off quicker. It was great. I do not have the stress of the creditors calling me.

When I started the program I was in a lot of debt. Divorce can leave you heartbroken but credit card debt can keep you up at night. I totally thank everyone for working with me. There were several times I ran short of cash and was allowed to change the date. This was and had been a blessing to me.

I appreciate the customer service and support, but the fees collected by Freedom Debt Relief were nearly as much as the debt reduction. The service is ‘good’ because it keeps you on track with becoming debt free, but it really doesn’t save much money at all.

Freedom Debt Relief has negotiated all of my debts for less than I originally owed and has handled payment for me flawlessly. The one time one of my debts entered litigation, the law firm they partner with handled everything for me. All I did was answer a few emails and a couple phone calls and it was settled.
