The process is fairly straightforward, and the counselor explained it in good detail. We always want things to go faster, but the timeline is laid out for us too, and unless we suddenly have more money to pay off debts with, it is quite an accurate forecast. App is very good for uploading statements, etc.

My experience with FDR was worth it. I am debt free and during my time for paying my debts I was able to live comfortable. My debts were reduced. I would recommend FDR to anyone with a lot of credit card debt.

I never had to deal much with customer service till the pandemic hit. My husband was out of work for a few months. I had to make adjustment with my payment. Not once did anyone from this company ever make me feel like I wasn’t doing enough to make a full payment. So understanding to the life changes that my family was going through. I hired FDR to help with my credit card loans and after a year and a half, they did not respond to one of my creditors and in light I am now having my wages garnished for $3,400 a month and this will likely cause me to lose everything I have gained back from COVID. I have all of the legal proof from the creditor's attorney to prove there was no response from FDR for negotiations and or notification of judgement!

I put extra $$ in my dedicated account so I could have a breather from my monthly pymts for a couple months. Without letting me know, FDR took out more than my monthly payment for their fees. I signed up for $524/month & was not told that would fluctuate when I put the xtra $$ in. Horrible horrible policy to not get in touch w/ me & take more than a monthly pymts worth of $$ for their fees instead of paying the debt collector. When you sign up for a payment amount, that's what it should be each month unless you, the client, say otherwise. I lost my settlement as I didn't have more $$ to put in & this was literally a few months before it would have been paid. Do NOT recommend.

Instead of working to get a lower settlement and taking what’s left of the dedicated amount for the payment “fee” I was charged an extra $1500 for the law firm that poorly negotiated. Ridiculous. Now I’m STILL paying for the next several months to pay off the lawyers! Very poor negotiations - I could have paid off my credit cards myself. Will NOT recommend anyone doing this. You were supposed to be helping ME!

Updated on 1/3/2023: We are happy that two debts have been resolved. We thought they would be paid off, but instead monthly payments have been negotiated. So kinda' feel like we still have those debts. At least they don't call anymore. Wish Freedom Debt would contact more creditors to stop the phone calls. We are experiencing numerous medical situations and the phone calls make us anxious at a time when we should only be concerned with getting medical problems solved. So much upfront expenses involved in our medical situations, money is so tight.
See that commercial where one client says she has more money in her pocket and that is not our situation beginning in February. Makes us concerned that bankruptcy is our only way to go and we do not want to do that. And if more creditors were contacted, some pressure would be gone. The creditors would be working with FDR and not hounding us. is this possible?
Since only monthly payments are being made on settled debt seems like there should be money to contact other creditors. Navient is a student loan and they call at least 6 times a day. Would love FDR to contact them. And then we have Fingerhut/Advantage - low balance so can this creditor be contacted by you so they would leave us alone. Also Home Design/Synchrony Bank floods us with e-mails. Now they are offering no interest payments. Good time for FDR to take over that account.
Once a creditor hears from FDR, they leave us alone. That would be wonderful. Any assistance would be appreciated. Sent copies of letter from Home Design/Synchrony Bank and Citi Mastercard. Seems like they are open to negotiations. Also how do we find out how much those two resolved accounts cost us with FDR? Not sure how to do that. For FDR to contact the accounts mentioned here would really take some anxiety away. We appreciate you and do hope FDR will contact the mentioned accounts to begin negotiation. Thank you.
Original review: I am sick of all the phone calls. Seems that FDR could notify creditors of our partnership and stop the calls. I also do not understand why the largest debt is paid off first when the tiny ones are paid off only at the end.

Feeling like I can breathe again. So far 5 have been taken care of and 3 are paid off. Makes me feel like I will have freedom from this debt. I'm on social security so money is limited. With raising prices it gets harder to eat, pay bills, and medicine. My electricity went over $360 this summer and I couldn't of paid everything

When I first started the journey with FDR I was like, "This is awesome," until the fees for everything started rolling in. That needs to be addressed more in the consult and finalization process. I didn't realize nor was I fully informed about the fees that are associated with everything. I think you should be more detailed with everything.

Discover's legal court action for garnishment of wages response by them made it more difficult for me and FDR. The situation left me wondering what my options would be. My income is very limited and I feel that using half of my current wages from my part-time job to pay my debt is as much as I can afford. Hopefully, Discover now as of 9/12 - 9/13 will accept the terms presented. I appreciate the assistance, for the first time, I unhappily wondered about a bankruptcy option.

Things are not being paid. I have started having to pay my credit cards so that they wouldn’t go to collections. I did this to help my credit, not make it worse. I now have to dig my credit out of the dirt.

Everything has fair so far, except I never received the "Welcome Call" after an appointment was set and emails sent confirming this! Contacted customer service myself to proceed on. Had some issue conversing with that person, as she talked entirely too fast and did not allow me to finish a response before talking again. Talked to "Carlton" in account verification. He was very helpful and easy to discuss the issues with. Told me exactly what I needed and how I would be able to upload these docs. Was to receive a follow up email with a link to upload additional documents. Did not receive that email! However I had saved an original email with this link, so I proceeded on again, on my own! Most of my rating is directed towards the original contact person, Shamand **. That conversation convinced me to give this a try. Follow up since enrolling has not been what was told or expected.

This is a great company to work for you. The staff was always helpful, friendly and courteous. They never made me feel bad about the situation I was in. I started the program 2 years ago. I was only paying the minimum amount on 3 credit cards with the balances rising. When I started the program, we agreed on a payment that I could live with, making me really for the first time budget my money. I did keep a credit card with a $2000 credit limit as with the current times I needed to be able to pay medical bills, purchases, etc. on line. My first settlement was a little over 4 months into the program. It was a little hard trying to ignore the past due notices I was receiving via emails, because I had never missed a payment with my credit cards.
As a side note, I think this is why they always were wanting to increase my credit limits. This was hard to turn down, thinking I would get things straightened out with this extra credit offered me..,,and of course that did not work. My first settlement was 60% of what I owed. I continued to make all my payments, and after an accumulation of these payments, a second offer was made and then the third. As of July of this year, my debt has been paid in full. I still have my credit card with the $2000 limit and that is how it will stay. I highly recommend them and appreciated their expertise and help.

Several years ago I had a problem with credit cards. I had a heart attack and many medical bills that go with that. I called FDR from a website online. I talked to a very nice young man named Jason. I don't remember his last name after all this time but I'm sure of Jason. He took a lot of time explaining the program, the dashboard, the negotiation process with my creditors, and the monthly contribution. I signed up that very day. We established the amount of my monthly contribution. What a relief to have my creditors off my back and knowing they would get paid. Not as much as they wanted but paid. My worries were over. The monthly amount was taken out of my bank and the creditors were paid. I paid no attention to the process and before I knew it, I was paid up. I lived credit free for several years before I had a stroke and the medical credit cycle started again.

The customer service is good...way better than most businesses. However...I learned after I signed on to FDR that some creditors will not accept the original payment agreement...demanding a quite larger monthly payment and/or upfront payment. I was served a summons at my door. I feel as though I could've negotiated it on my own and possibly not have paid as much. I am hoping no other creditors do this (sue me). I cannot afford it upfront..if I could, I would've paid it myself.

I reached out to FDR when my debt was overwhelming me and my outgo was greater than my income. I was thinking it was basically a debt consolidation loan but found out that it's much better. They were able to take my information and contact my creditors then negotiate a lower amount to pay. After 2 of my creditors were paid in full, I was contacted about a debt consolidation program that negotiates lower rates with the remainder of my creditors then pays them off. Then I will continue to make payments until paid in full. This program is so much better than bankruptcy or a regular debt consolidation loan. I'm thankful I made the call.

So you settled on the Destiny account and I saved around $320, but with your fees, I only saved around a little more than $100. I thought this program was to help consumers was to save on the debts. But with your fees, I really don't see the big savings.

There were some initial issues getting all of my accounts consolidated, but I’m now over halfway to getting all my accounts settled. Don’t be afraid to keep going and talk through anything that is confusing! I have had excellent customer service experiences on the phone and through asking questions via email. Yes I was late 4 days on my monthly payment because my rent was raised without notice or I would be homeless, I had to wait for my next pay day. I called and notified you all a week in advance. I did what I was told to do. The person told me to wait and follow the Directions when sent to me on the website. And on my JCPenney account statement said it wasn’t due till 8/26/2022 plus I made my monthly payment plus another payment of $89.00. It shouldn’t take so long for you all to get the money. It was out of my bank that Settlement should not have been canceled plus I would not have made that extra payment that I was told to do. I needed that money for food.

It would take around 21 yrs to pay off even though it would hurt my credit I would be done in 4 yrs before I die so I can get my debt in a better place. It's nice to have a company help in hard times, the only other option would be bankruptcy.

Not honest! Never seemed to have an answer especially after I paid off the bal on my accounts myself. It took 5 mos. to declare my graduation. Your phone consultants are very limited in their training. Sorry but this would not be a company I would recommend.

We’re chipping away at my debt, we’ve resolved almost half so far and it’s been just about a year now. I know I have a couple of major ones that we will be addressing, and it may take another year or two more, but I’m okay with that. I know if I was going the way I was, making minimum payments, I’d never get out of debt. I’m very happy with my decision. I have money to spend on my necessities now, instead of using that money to pay credit cards, and having to use those same cards to then buy necessities, just resulting in a cycle. Excited to be done with all this, but it has been a good experience so far.

Freedom Debt Relief was good. It helped me a lot. I'm out of debt, so I got extra money now. The guy I worked with, Phil, was very good helping me out at first then I went on FDR's website to track my progress. When I had questions, I had to talk to a supervisor and it wasn't hard. I kept calling until I got one. A lot of the people there have to be more knowledgeable with customer service.

Updated on 11/04/2023: I started the program in 2022 and it was the best thing I’ve done. I got myself into a bind during Covid and just couldn’t seem to get ahead no matter how hard I tried or how much overtime I worked. It just never seemed to enough. Debt collectors were calling multiple times every single day. I heard the commercial on the radio and pulled into a parking lot and signed up that Saturday. Yes, my credit took a hit in the beginning, but my advisor said it would. I’ve gotten 3 bills paid in less than 2 years and I don’t think I could have done it on my own. I didn’t want to file bankruptcy and this allowed me to not do that option. It’s a thrill when I get a settlement offer because the plan works and I know I’m one step closer to being debt free.
Original Review: From day one I felt at ease with my choice. I had gotten in over my head with loans during the pandemic and even though I tried everything to pay them, I couldn’t get ahead. I contacted Freedom Debt on a Saturday and had help the same day. I was getting nervous because it seemed like it takes forever to get the first settlement. But I’ve got the ball rolling and I’m seeing improvement.

Updated on 11/19/2022: Hope all is settled by the end of year. They have negotiated settlements faster and easier than I could ever imagine. I have stopped getting all those calls telling me I must pay the full amount now or else they would take legal action. Freedom has stopped all those nasty calls.

I became very deep in debt. Many phone calls from creditors. Saw a Freedom Debt Relief Ad on TV. I decided to call and see if they could help me. After discussing my problems, we came up with a solution. Came up with a payment plan that I could afford plus a time frame it would take. Phone call stopped and away we went on reducing my debt. Through this process I stopped using all credit cards and only used money on hand. What a shock it was at first but sort of got used to it. Paid my monthly payment and did not miss one payment or was late over the period of the contract. Freedom negotiated with each creditor and when a settlement was agreed including me we would check each creditor off.
Well, just finished my final settlement and now have graduated. No more debt and sort of nice to see my monthly payment back in my pocket. Great people to work with and would recommend Freedom Debt Relief to anyone who needs help. Remember, it’s not a walk in the park but well worth it in the end. Thank You Again Freedom Debt Relief. I have mixed feelings about the program. I was promised certain percentage savings on my total enrolled debt based on the amount of enrolled debt. That is not how the alleged savings are calculated. After months of non payment under the instructions of FDR, many fees and lots of interest are added. When a settlement is made, the savings are calculated based on the new inflated amount, not the original enrolled debt. This is deceptive as the true savings is a much smaller percentage.
I also have received calls based on info from my credit report about enrolling additional debt. Sometimes the “new” debt is an old creditor that the account was turned over to. If you add it your program payment increases but they will not offset/reduce the program payment by removing the old debt. The biggest benefit is not having to deal with creditors directly. If one has time and patience, most debts can be settled on your own as evidenced by the many settlement letter offers I have received directly from creditors.

The program is providing the support described prior to my agreement to enroll. Three out of Four of my debts are being resolved with the last one pending. I wouldn't have been able to work with creditors to achieve an understanding or reduce the amount owed.

I am ok with the outcome with Freedom Debt Relief. I only wish that I could have finished paying through Freedom, and not having to take a loan out. One of my credit cards/ loans would not settle and wanted all the money upfront. I was a unable to make a deposit for $4000 so I had to take out the loan to avoid going to court for what was due. I wish I had known this could happen but am hoping it all works out!!

Never imagined needing to enroll myself into a debt relief program, however over the last couple of years, the debt became unmanageable and a huge stressor in my life. Still getting calls from creditors wanted me to pay. I thought you were going to contact them and start taking care of that. I thought you were supposed to get a hold of the creditors and let them know that y'all are taking care of the accounts.

Settlements take longer than promised. I was told this would take less time and the only answers I get is pay more money into the plan. If I had more money I wouldn’t need to do this. That is my only complaint.

This has been a nerve-racking experience because I have had to switch checking accounts and reroute everything I've had to my new account. To this day, I have had past pending, normal, payments that were going to former primary checking account. Phew...but, things are on a roll. I have been in the program since April and debt is being resolved, one creditor at a time. I have 61k enrolled debt and they have been negotiating very hard for me. I'm very grateful.

Ok they did help but you have to watch out. It was settled but not as much as promised. Also the lower cards with lower interest rates settled 1st but the higher card with the extreme rate settled last. Well no good because the balance you owe after interest accumulated by not paying puts you deeper in debt. This program earns a percentage off the total debt so the higher debt you owe the more they make.. so I had to get after them to settle the highest interest rate card 1st. Ok I had saved and paid the other 2 cards balance in full but they dragged it out into payments aka keeping my credit score low. It got rock bottom because this program wants you to default on payments. Their excuse is to negotiate better. (NO. IT'S MORE OWED SO THEY GET MORE.) So I advise watch out.
The other thing was the payment figure I was to make was high. I'm on a retired income now. Some months my bills changed like doctors I saw then got billed etc. So since they didn't leave me extra for such I didn't buy food just so the doctor bills and other odd bills that popped in so Rayman noodles or nothing some weeks grrr. I had to go back to work to just survive. But now that this mess is over the scam etc I'm Done...
