You will think that after advertising that they have experience and years in the business, Freedom Debt Relief will know how the creditors behave and do. Well... I don't think so because two of my accounts went to a Law Firm and they took me to court. The best Freedom did was to negotiate a stipulated judgment with the firm. I got 80% on my Discover plus Freedom's 20% = 100% of the debt, it means I didn't safe anything. The other account, they didn't settle an amount, actually the only negotiation was to get another stipulated judgment and I can pay monthly to the Law Firm 100% of the debt.

So if I count their (Freedom) 20% that means that now I am paying 120% of the debt. I guess they know what they are doing. They got me in this dilemma. I could have negotiated with the companies directly before it got this bad, but they never notified me until it was too late. I went to their website and it only says going negotiations. I have contacted Freedom, asking them to waive their percentage (20%) and I have had not good results and very much I have been told that it is not going to happen.

We are sorry to hear about your frustrations. Unfortunately, creditors can sue you for the debt owed. When we are able to set up an agreement to pay back 100% of the debt, it does stop the creditor from pursuing further legal action and can stop fees and penalties from occurring. Your program is being reviewed and an Advocate will be contacting you before the close of business tomorrow to review everything in depth and answer any questions you have about your program or the negotiations process.

My experience with Freedom Debt Relief was truly amazing. Everybody that I worked with was honest and very helpful through my process. Before Freedom Debt I felt like I was in a dark hole with no light in sight.. But now I have that light in my sight and I will not go back to where I was again. Again I am truly grateful for all the help that I received from all that helped me through this process. I strongly recommend to my friends to contact Freedom Debt Relief if they are in the same situation that I was in.. You are Miracle Workers in my book...

When we joined the program in May my contact Steve seemed very genuine and concerned about my worries. I asked him MULTIPLE times if we can be sued for not paying the credit cards because this was a huge worry of mine. He assured me this cannot happen, that we are protected in Pa by the consumer act blah blah blah... Again he reassured me. He eased my nerves with stories of his wife and how she would be nervous as well... Two of my cards were settled. Then we come home from work and guess what? We are sued by Discover Card! I immediately call them and send my paperwork. The day before we receive this we ended up working out a settlement. It's supposed to be settled in March.

Then, we receive another summons, a lawsuit from Bank of America! I call and guess what "Steve ** no longer works there..." Oh and did I mention, I was NEVER told how they get paid! I did not know they receive a % of the settlement! Steve said when they call you to ask you about the settlement if it's ok they will ask you about their payment as well, which never happened as well. I'm totally disgusted that a company can take advantage of people when they are stressed out to begin with. I called and left the program last week. A hard lesson learned.

I originally contacted FDR 2 years ago. I spoke with a representative who explained the procedures to me and directed me to websites for more information. I entered into the agreement fully informed (I guess). I enrolled 6 credit cards with debt amounts ranging from $3000 to $14000. Relatively quickly the smallest 3 accounts were negotiated and settled with substantial savings. However, the 3 three largest accounts have become a problem. One account totaling more than $12000 was settled at face value! No negotiation? I had to appear in court twice over this account and ended up having to pay the full amount anyway. I can do bad all by myself. The largest account hasn't even been discussed yet. I am awaiting some kind of summons to be served on that one any day now.

I recently lost my second job and had to reduce the amount of my monthly draft. I explained in full detail in August what had happened and the representative who reduced the draft amount explained the ramifications very clearly. Since August I have received multiple phone calls from FDR asking me to make a large deposit into my draft account to make up the short fall. Each caller reminded me ad nauseam of the consequences of not making up the difference. I still don't understand why I have to repeat myself over and over again.

After the initial success, I have become disillusioned with FDR. After speaking with the reps recently, I am beginning to get a picture that they just don't get it from my end. I understand that FDR is in business to make a profit. (They certainly do when negotiating full-amount repayment!) However, I don't think they understand the other side of the phone call.....at least that's not the impression I was given. I have referred a family member to look elsewhere when asked about FDR. I am not even sure how much longer I can continue with FDR or where to go from here. I have read the other reviews from the satisfied customers....good for them. I guess FDR is just not for everybody.

We are sorry to hear about your frustrations. It is possible that creditors can take legal action on debts that are owed to them. Unfortunately, more funds to negotiate with these creditors is needed and we understand that coming up with those additional funds can be difficult. We will have someone review your program and all accounts enrolled and contact you before the close of business tomorrow to review everything with you.

On average it can take 3-6 months to get your first settlement, but there are many variables that determine this. Remember the program is estimated to take 36 months to complete and as much as we try and minimize the creditor calls, they do have a right to attempt to collect on the debt. If you ever need any update on your program status or have any specific questions, you can always email our Customer Service team or call during regular business hours.

Overall, FDR did get our debt settled and all accounts paid off. However, the time frame and amount was a lot more than they told us it would be. We were told that our payment plan would take 3 years at a fixed monthly amount. About 10 months before we were supposed to be done with our payments, we were informed by FDR that our last creditor was finally settled and now we would have to pay for one more year. There was nothing that we could do at that time and were forced to pay about $7000 more than we were originally told. I learned that FDR had not settled with our last creditor until near the end of our plan at which time, they the creditor had added a bunch of late fees and interest, which FDR basically passed to us. I feel FDR did not do their job as promised, according to their contract. I would not recommend this process to anyone as I would contact the credit card companies and work out a payment plan on your own.

We are sorry if there was any misunderstanding on how our program works, the time frame it takes to complete our program is only an estimate and some creditors can be more aggressive and charge late fees and penalties, while you are in the program. It does look like even if added interest and penalties, FDR was able to save you money from what you originally owed.

I have been with FDR for about 2 1/2 months and have not been able to get anything I requested done. I have been begging to speak with someone in charge for over a week. I have called and asked. When a regular associate calls, I have asked them to connect me to someone in charge with no luck. I have emailed them and asked but so far no one in charge has called me.

When I first started the program I thought I was getting into a credit counseling service and did not realize what debt settlement was. I initially canceled the contract within three days (only having three days to cancel a contract without consequences should be a major red flag) but was talked into staying with it by the National Debt Relief person who actually enrolled me. I also cancelled with the bank (CTF) that they had set up my withdrawals to go to (More on this later).

At the time I was enrolled they suggested to me to change bank accounts since most of my bills were directly withdrawn from my account. I was told not to pay anymore on the bills enrolled and to give them as the contact person to my creditors. I did all of this. Of course by not paying my bills I started getting my credit slammed at least 8 times or more monthly and my debt amount kept rising but they told me to expect this to some degree. They don't express it to the degree it should be though in my opinion.

When I agreed to stay enrolled with them, I told them that the banking account information had changed and that I had canceled with CTF as well so it all needed to be reinstated. They took the information and said they would take care of it. I also told them I needed to have the welcome packet snail mailed because I did not have a printer or fax machine. They said it would be sent out by snail mail as well as email. I got the email one but could not download the packet. I kept getting a message that said the file was corrupted. I called and explained this and was told again that it would be mailed out. That was back in August and I still have not received it.

I then received an email telling me that they had settled a debt for me and I accepted it but told the guy that I still hadn't gotten the welcome packet to send back the paper work and they were supposed to be sending me a document to sign to allow them to take the money out. He said it would be okay and the packet and all would be here soon. It never came but finally I was able to print the packet out and send the paper work back to them. Another agent was able to set it up for me to e-sign the withdrawal document so everything was supposed to be taken care of. Keep in mind that I told each agent about the account number changing and each one quoted back the correct information to me.

I kept a watch on things and saw that no money had been taken from my account so the settlement was not getting paid. I started calling FDR in September to try and get it all straightened out and each time I had to go through the whole spiel about what was going on. I then had to wait for them to check everything only to be reassured it had been taken care of and if they needed anything else they would contact me. "Thank you for choosing FDR" and blah, blah, blah. Each paycheck I would wait a week and see if the money had come out and when it didn't I would call and it would be the same thing each time.

Finally I got an agent that really checked into it and he even got CTF on the phone with me and both assured me it was taken care of and if we need anything else.....I truly thought it was taken care of finally. We went over the bank account change again at this time and FDR was supposed to take care of that with CTF. It didn't happen. Of course this caused the first debt settlement to fall through but lo and behold if they didn't settle again with the same company but again no money was taken out so I called again.

This time I was told that I had not signed the document needed to take the money out and I told her it had been signed so she looks and finds it and gives me the same answer as the rest of them. I got one or two more calls of this nature and I finally asked to speak with someone in charge. No one was available. At this time I start getting phone calls and emails telling me I missed a payment so I call and explain everything again. I send an email explaining it.. I got phone calls daily and explained it to them. I asked them to have someone in charge look at my situation and call me back so we could get this solved. No one ever did. No one replied to my emails either.

We are now in November and I am done with it all. I want to cancel with them and I feel like I shouldn't have to pay them anything. I tried. Lord knows how hard I tried and now I give up. I told them this both by phone and by email. When I told them this over the phone (after I asked to speak with someone in charge and was told I would have to tell them what was going on - again - before they could do this), the girl was going to transfer me to the "correct" department but of course I was disconnected instead. What the heck am I supposed to do? My patience has ran out. It is not like they are doing this out of the goodness of their heart. They get paid well to do this for you and yet they can't straighten out something as simple as a bank draft? Nice people for sure but inept. There are many more examples of the ineptness but I have made this long enough.

I enrolled in Freedom Debt Relief after constant calls from their sales department over a year ago who assured me this program would greatly reduce my debt. He also told me the creditors would stop calling after 6-8 months and that FDR would field the calls. I've been in the program over a year and paid my monthly amount on time. With the hidden FDR fee (23% in my case), and when I say hidden, I mean it's not information on your online profile, with the FDR fee I am only saving about $1,000 and continue to get harassing calls from debt collectors at WORK and now a lawsuit from AmEx. I suggest anyone out there who's considering this program to negotiate directly with your creditors, keep your credit score moving in a positive direction and don't fall for this easy money solution that Freedom Debt Relief promises.

After a year of paying on time, their subsidiary, Consolidation Plus, offered to "lend me" the money through another bank so I could start improving my credit. At 19% interest! Which was basically what I was paying my original creditors. And myself and both of my parents have received harassing calls from debt collectors over the entire year. Not worth a thousand dollars. Save yourself the headaches and negotiate directly with your creditors. I highly doubt all the positive reviews here are legit. I have read similar negative reviews about the lack of customer service and the actual money saved. This company, which is not BBB accredited, preys on the idea that you can save lots of money and that's simply not true.

I lost my job & tried several other outlets to get a job but unfortunately no luck. Everyone wanted $$$ and no income came out of that. In the meanwhile we lived on credit cards. Max one and move to the next one. My husband & I took every promotion that came our way. Since we both had excellent credit before the credit cards company realized that we no longer could pay off completely what we charged they kept sending them and we kept signing up for them. At one point one of the credit card companies cut us off at what we had spend up to that moment. Since everything else was already max out we were stuck. No ability to pay for groceries, bills or gas for the cars. We were broke.

My husband works a part time job & that was not enough to sustain both of us. We got a flyer in the mail and it promise that this company could help us resolve any credit issues. We did not believe that at all but thought we have nothing to lose. We already have lost it all. They really have nothing to take from us. So we gave it a try. Only 3-4 months later one of the credit cards was resolved. I could not believe it. Not only do we pay less a month than we were when we were making minimum payments on our own but now one of the credit cards is completely gone.

People say count your blessings. Freedom Debt Relief is our angel sent from above to help us in a situation that we could not see a way out. From a couple that was financially responsible and paying all bills as they came never spend more than we could afford. To a couple that could not make more than minimum payments and at one point that was too much to pay too. The day we got the flyer for Freedom Debt Relief we were left with 2 can of green peas from a Dollar Store. Really if you wanted to take anything from us, we had used clothing, used shoes and used socks. No quarters for the laundry mat. Now you can really see what I mean when I say we really had nothing of value for anyone to take. Had nothing to lose but a whole lot to gain if I called a phone number in a certain time period.

So I called at 11:30pm PT & thought I will leave a voicemail and no one will ever respond. To my surprise a lady answered the phone. I told her about the flyer. She asked a few questions and said someone will call us the following day. So again I thought, oh yes sure they will. It is another dead end. About noon the following day someone did call from Freedom Debt Relief. I talked to the guy and my husband and we decided to give it a try. The guy asked for much less than what we have been paying and said this will cover all 7 credit cards. I thought, oh yes another scam. As I mentioned above in just a few months one of the credit cards was gone. Alleluia. Un believable but true. Gone completely & utterly gone. Was completely paid off. Now I can grocery shop at regular stores & sleep better at night. Freedom Debt Relief gave me my life back. Thank you my darling angels for watching over us.

Negotiations slower than originally discussed, 6 months 1 resolved. This was clearly misinformation but I received an accurate and detailed expectation now customer service spent a lot of time clearing up what was misrepresented initially. We are going to hang in there a few more months to see if we get any more movement. We only have one resolved in 6 months but now that I have clarity I would refer friends just advising them to have a clear understanding from the start. We received many different answers and advice but a wonderful lady put everything out there and gained our confidence.

I was satisfied with FDR as I neared my three year point, and had two accounts finishing up at the beginning of 2014 with one left under negotiation, but they have been totally unresponsive to requests for status on this last account once I got to my three year anniversary. They don't answer emails, and a call gives you the equivalent of talking to the HP's lowest support people who sit and read off of screens. No information, no help, and empty promises. Up to the beginning of 2014, I would have recommended FDR, now I will not.

I signed up with this company back in July of last year. I told them I had a deal in place with Discover, but they wouldn't let me leave that account off. I ended up getting sued by Discover because I had to follow the guidelines set by the Freedom Financial. I was pissed beyond belief when I was sued by Discover. Also they didn't do crap about my other debts. I was sued two other times and had to deal with the creditors on my own, which ended me having to pay Freedom Financial's fees to pay on the judgments against me.

Over 3/4 of the money I put into the program went to paying their fees, and very little went to what I owed the credit card companies. When I filled out their surveys I gave them a bad rating, and when I spoke to people in their customer service group I got the run around, and they wanted me to pay in more money. I could barely make ends meet. Last time I talked to a person in their company I blew up and went off on them. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!! THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS AND WILL SCREW YOU OVER!!!!

I signed up with FDR approx 13 months ago and was hopeful. The draft amount that I had to pay into the program was a strain on me but I was determined to stick it out. Things were going ok until I was served with a lawsuit from Citibank. I was scared and immediately turned to FDR for advice. I was told that there was Nothing they could do basically. I was told to answer the suit but I did owe the money so....I received a judgement shortly after. Then, last week I was sent a request for POA so they could set me up with discounted legal counsel in case Chase decided to sue me. Why didn't they do this when Citibank was suing me? I owe CB twice as much as Chase. They have settled a few of my accounts but I was never told that I will most likely receive a 1099 this year for the amount I "saved" which in reality was only the late fees and Finance charges on those accts. which I will have to pay taxes on. I have stopped the drafts from my checking account and plan to cancel my account with them. I only hope that I will receive the balance of my dedicated account and not have to fight them for it.

    Reviewed Oct. 10, 2014

After nearly 6 months in the program, FDR excitedly calls me to accept a settlement, (the first of 7 credit cards) for 50% off my highest credit card. They tell me the settlement will reduce the amount I owe over $5000. So I'm thinking, "wow, ok sure, I accept." The problem is, what they don't tell you, and the extent that they go to hide it from you. They don't tell you the amount of their fee. For me this fee for this settlement was $2147. I never knew I was paying that amount in addition to the settlement amount because they didn't disclose it to me. Thus instead of a 50% settlement, it really was a 70% settlement. I only found out about a month later when the 2nd settlement came in again at 50% and I said, "that includes your fee right?" Oops! Exposed! They told me no, and that their fee is in addition to the settlement amount. I ask the amount, got my calculator only to realize it's not a 50% settlement, it's over 70%.

So I said, "I have to think about it and I'll call you back." In the meantime I called my creditors and all except 1 was eager to accept a 50% settlement with most willing to go 40-45% and the lowest at 30%. So I thought why would I pay FDR thousands of dollars for something I can do better than them anyway. So I called FDR to cancel the program and I asked for a refund for the fee amount they failed to disclose regarding the 1st settlement, telling them had I known that amount I would not have accepted the settlement. I told them they're using deception and dishonesty to get people to accept these settlements. They said I can cancel the program but no refund.

So who does FDR really want to help? The fact that FDR hides their fees and does not disclose it in the total settlement amount that the consumer ultimately pays, is a testament of a corrupt company preying on and taking advantage of desperate and troubled consumer just looking for help. Thus rather than help the consumer, FDR helps themselves with these hefty hidden fees by means of outright deception and corruption. When you raise a complaint, they insist and argue that it's the consumer's problem for failing to find the hidden fee and include it as a total settlement cost. Not a good company to deal with if they have to resort to deception and dishonesty.

When I first started my account with Freedom Debt Relief I was very excited. I've been in the program for 34 months and they've been incredibly successful in negotiating amazing amounts on my 7 enrolled credit card accounts. Every person I spoke to was very helpful and very assuring every step of the way. I have one credit card in a settlement that is now paid off and one last credit card that FDR needs to finish negotiating.

The problem is now that I am able to completely pay off my account in full, I sold my house to pay off all of my debt, I am taking a horrible beating. I called for a payoff, confirmed that nothing else would be due and sent my payment to FDR immediately. A month later my account was still debited for the monthly draft. When I called I was assured if I let that go through; because suddenly there wasn't enough in the account to pay off the last settlement, the last creditor and FDR's fees (even though that was supposed to be covered by the "final" payment), that this last monthly draft would definitely be all that was required.

Hah - so when I checked up again later the same month, I still needed another $250 to cover the last settlement, the last creditor and FDR's fees. I have asked, emailed, called and spoken to various employees including supervisors and I have not been able to get a detailed statement or even get anyone to communicate with me regarding my account...unless I initiate a call. They do not return calls and do not return emails.

I called yet again as I still have not received a statement account and was told I needed to pay yet another $1200 to settle my account. Really??? I am just getting the run around now and literally being punished for paying off my account early. I will not continue to take this deplorable treatment. While I "run" to the State Attorney General's office and to my attorney you should RUN RUN RUN in the opposite direction of Freedom Debt Relief.

They never return calls or emails. They will never give out extensions so you could just work with one person. When I terminated with Freedom, I was able to call the 3 accounts I had Freedom working on and settled them myself in less than 30 minutes and I didn't have to pay over $1,200 in fees to Freedom which is a rip off. When people call Freedom, they are in desperate situations and need help. Freedom is your best buddy willing to help when you make that initial call but good luck getting answers after that because they won't respond back. The fees I paid out to Freedom in 17 months could have taken care of a couple of my accounts. It really made mad when I was able to settle these accounts on my own. They sat with Freedom all this time and they never made an offer to me to settle them quicker. I was able to settle these accounts for a better rate than Freedom supposedly say they do.

I would never recommend this to anyone. What I recommend is call and work it out with the creditor. It will save you money in the long run and you won't have to deal with the frustration of Freedom's lack of customer service. This company should be investigated for their excessive fees and preying on people who have come to them as a last resort. They owe me money from the withdrawals they took out after I terminated my account and I can already see that this is going to be a hassle.

I rated my relationship with the company as a 4. My only reason for not rating FDR a 5 is I wasn't assigned a personal negotiator from day 1. It was frustrating for me to have to tell my story over and over again every time I called and got a different person to deal with. I faxed several documents to the generic fax number and the company didn't receive even though I had a confirmation sheet that said the faxes went through. I feel if I had 1 person to deal with and to send info to, it wouldn't have been frustrating. All the people I spoke with were professional in their dealings with me and took the time with me to explain where my account stood. Would I recommend FDR to family and friends? Absolutely and already have done so. Thank you FDR for assisting me get my life back.

Freedom Debt Relief will tell you anything you want to hear. The one thing they will never tell you is that the creditor can choose not to work with a 3rd party and take you personally to court even with being enrolled in the program. I was enrolled in the program for 10 months. They were able to quickly settle a debt with Bank of America and told me they were in open negotiations with American Express. I continued to pay into the program and one morning almost a year into it I receive notice American Express has filed a lawsuit against me. I call up to question this in a panic state - I am then told I need to bring my account balance up by depositing over $641 to start the settlement deal with American Express and stop the litigation. I deposited the money only to find out there was no deal. Finally someone I spoke with in advanced collections admitted "Amex doesn't want to work with us. There is nothing we can do." So now I am stuck with 100% of the Amex debt plus an additional 10 months of fees and interest.

So all the sales talk about helping me lessen my burden did not happen. And the negotiator who dealt with the creditors made the negotiations without even letting me know what the offers were. Let's start with the positives. FDR have settled 4 accounts for me and 1 account will be settled hopefully by the end of this month. (The last payment was processed recently according to the cftpay website which I was told by an FDR ACT agent that website was not accurate... Umm, ok.) I think they did a good job settling these 4 (going on 5) accounts in a span of almost 2 years. (I've been in this program since October of 2012.) I have 1 account left in the program that will be done in 13 months. I originally enrolled 8 accounts in this program but I had to remove 3 accounts and settled them on my own because, like what happened to most of us, the creditors were NEVER contacted by FDR - they kept calling me, and I was worried of getting sued again so I went ahead and worked on them on my own. So far, I have closed 2 accounts of the 3 that I removed from the FDR program and 1 account I am currently working on (and they only charge me a $10 fee each month on top of my monthly payment).

I was disappointed after a call today with the advanced collections team agent, when I requested to have my draft amount lowered from $484 beginning 9/18/14, since I only have 1 account left with payment arrangements of $120/month for 24 months that started in October 2013. I went back to the payments that were cleared and I have made 9 payments of $120 and 1 payment of $240 (as of August 2014) since October 2013, which means, to date, I am current with my payments. All I was asking for was to have them review my account if they can lower the draft amount since $484/month is clearly too much to cover a payment of $120/month for the 1 account that's left in the program. This means I will be overpaying for the next 13 months if I get stuck with the $484/month draft.

I initially requested for a lower draft last month and an agent from advanced collection team told me that $180/month should be good (that includes admin fees, etc.). I even electronically signed a document agreeing to this draft amount which I did and submitted it FDR. I found out later on (on my own since I check the client portal regularly) that for some reason, this request was rejected. I was never informed that it WAS rejected.

When I called today to have them review my account, the agent who's obviously very knowledgeable about the program, who was intimidating on the phone and who talked over me numerous times (they can run the tape if they need to), said that they discourage too much changes on the account since it might negatively affect the settlement. I asked her if she could see how I will be overpaying if I stuck with the $484/month draft for the next 13 months to cover the $120/month payment to creditor, for the same amount of time, 13 months. She told me she's not sure... Blah blah blah... Even a kid who knows basic math knows that I will be paying 4x than the due payment to the creditor. I simply requested for them to review my account and lower my draft because I know it's possible but I was told NO. Bottom line, FDR is helpful but I suggest to just go ahead and settle with the creditors. It's faster, cheaper, easier and less stressful.

I've read the script to my creditors and told them to contact Freedom Debt Relief and my creditors don't care. They continue to call. When I contacted Freedom Debt Relief about this, they back tracked and said that they never say that my creditors will stop calling.

On top of that, I was never told that I could still get sued while in this program. But representatives say that they always inform their clients that they could get sued. This is not true. I had my Freedom Debt Relief "sales guy" on speaker phone while talking to him and my daughter heard every word he said. He NEVER mentioned the possibility of still getting sued or I NEVER would have joined the program.

Also, my creditors are contacting me to make "deals" on my debt. When I asked Freedom Debt Relief why they haven't settled any of my accounts since I have plenty of money in my account to settle at least 2 of my smaller accounts, they informed me that they start with my larger accounts first. In the meantime, I continue to get an overwhelming amount of phone calls and my smaller accounts that could get settled, sit there still racking up charges and hitting my credit. This company is a joke and I'm looking at my options to withdraw and seek help from somewhere else.

To be clear, as it was stated in your welcome call on 4/24/2014. Also in your contract, it states you can be sued and that creditors do have the right to contact you regarding a debt you owe. Sometimes creditors will offer you a settlement on your debt, we can assure you in most cases, the settlement we can negotiate is generally better. You do have some funds in your dedicated account and we can have a negotiator re review your accounts for any possible settlements. Freedom Debt Relief has helped me reduce my debts. However, one of the complaints I have is their website advertises monthly settlements for some of the more common creditors such as Wells Fargo, Chase, Citigroup and Bank of America. In the case of Bank of America, which is the creditor that I am dealing with, for the past 12 months they have examples of clients settling consistently for 33% of the amount owed. Yet they settled one of the 2 of my accounts for 50% with their fees totaling over 25% of what was owed. On top of this, they take their fees off the top before they actually pay the settlement. After being in the program for almost 3 years and paying above and over what was expected, I feel a little disappointed in the manner they've miscommunicated what the expectations were for settling accounts with BoA. After speaking with an attorney I've discovered that I could have negotiated the same settlement myself and made similar payments myself without having to incur such fees and had this issue resolved much quicker.

We do negotiate settlements with our clients creditors, although there are some creditors that are more aggressive and sometimes it is in your best interest to wait for the debt to be sold to a third part collector. I started this program December 2012 with 4 accounts. Recently one was sent to court and I had to take the money from the dedicated account I had which was $895.00 to have a lawyer represent me for my case because I was being sued for the total amount. I spoke with Kevin and he advised me that if they do settle with me that my amount wouldn't change when my payments were due. So why did we get a phone call saying we have to pay an additional 125 a month? He told me that the contract would be null and void and we would get a refund if the suit was going to be lost. Well that was a LIE. If we started paying for the settlement for 4 accounts and the NEW settlement is actually LESSER than the first settlement amount, why do I have to pay more for?

What happened to the money I had in the dedicated account that was suppose to be paying out to these creditors? If I only have 2 accounts left and one account is being paid 200 a month, and the other account is the delinquent one that is being taken to court and now have settled for less, the maximum payment I was told was maybe 400. So if I pay 388 twice a month, why in the world do I have to pay more a month when the whole time you guys were still taking the same amount out of my account, even when the account was not active? So where had my money been going??

I demand answers and no one can give me a straight answer! If the issue is because you guys had to refund me the 895 out of my dedicated account, obviously that wasn't free money. Now I gotta repay that back on top of unexplainable fees that included in that ordeal?? I need to know so we can settle this immediately. This is just absurd! I pay back 1500 for a year for only 895 that was taken out? Doesn't make any sense!!

We have been a member of Freedom for 8 months. 2 of our accounts have been settled. The best is knowing that I have someone a phone call away that I can call and get advice. If I receive a letter, I have someone to fax it to who can tell me what to do with it. I had 8 accounts. Now I feel we are getting somewhere. It will take time but I know we are getting better each day.

I signed up with this company in January and am now in August with one account paid off at 30%, another about to be paid off at 50% and another having just entered settlement. The only thing I have done is to scan and email any correspondence I receive from my creditors, sign anything they need me to sign, and make sure I have the monthly amount to be drawn from my account every month. Customer service is always helpful via phone and email. At first, I was receiving calls and emails as a courtesy check-in every two weeks. Now that I'm in settlement, they come at least once a month. I am very happy so far, and can't wait to see all of my debt gone!! I highly recommend this company, as long as you are financially able to grow your account to help settle that debt!

Other companies that I talked to either did not want to help me with only one card to resolve my debt or their payment plan was out of my reach with my financial position. My biggest concern in my case is that they do not try to settle the accounts that have a higher balance. The longer you wait more fees added and finally it is going to be the customer responsibility to pay it all. Because FDR already got their fees taken out. FDR also need to be reminded time to time so that THEY will look into the account. My first settlement was not even looked at until I called them and mentioned about "how I have been waiting to hearing from them about a settlement". These are the major disappointments I have with FREEDOM DEBT RELIEF!!! I have been paying on time ever since I was enrolled.

I am very dissatisfied with this program and would not recommend it. In hind sight, we should have gone in a different direction and investigated more thoroughly before going ahead with Freedom. The endless phone calls from creditors even after we mailed a letter to each one with change of address and letters requesting that our accounts be closed. We fully understand that it is our own fault for getting into debt in the first place, but Freedom Debt Relief was the wrong program to choose. Our credit score is horrible and it will take years to reclaim a good score. The other thing is that it has affected the chances of my wife getting a job as companies do credit background checks. Thus, with the state of our financial status being in horrible condition, employers see that as a red flag and do not even offer an interview.

So for now we continue to move forward with the program and can only hope that some employer will hire my wife and we can then work toward ridding ourselves of our debt once and for all. Sadly, we do not feel that the name Freedom Debt Relief does not reflect what actually takes place... at least not for a long, long time. And not without the constant reminder when the phone rings and it is yet another creditor or collection agency. And as we go through this, we are doing all we can to keep our marriage together. All we can do is hope that it survives to the end. So you wanted to know. My wife too has expressed several times via email her discontent with Freedom Debt Relief. She also feels directly responsible for getting us into the program as she is the one who presented it to me. We both should have waited and checked out other programs. Shame on us.

We are sorry to hear about your situation. Our program is not for everyone. We do review the impact that being in our program can have on your credit and we do also inform you that because you do owe money to your creditors, they have the right to contact you and in some cases even sue you, although the percentage of accounts that go into a legal status are minimal. Many of our clients start seeing a positive impact to their credit as soon as accounts start getting resolved. I will have someone contact you to review the status of your program and what you can expect.

My husband and I started with this program about 1 year ago. We made our payments faithfully for about 6 months of 280.00 monthly. In this time we didn't get 1 card settled. We were however sued by Wells Fargo. They were able to negotiate a settlement so that we could pay the entire amount that we owe them. So we saved 0.00 but of course we got to pay the fees they charge for negotiating. I could have done that myself without getting sued and having a public record on my credit report. Plus I wouldn't have to pay myself a fee. Either way, what's done is done so we moved forward. They called finally and offered us Consolidation Plus. They said, "Your payment will be about the same as you are paying now," so we agreed. We signed all the proper documents and got the program started.

At first they told us our payment would be about $436.00 monthly. We couldn't afford that so I said that's not even close to what I am paying now. They said, "This is the pre-negotiation price and once everything is negotiated your payment will be less than that." So I said okay and we continued with the paper work and let them settle our debts. Once all of our debts were settled, surprise, surprise, our payments are $436.00 a month. Still, I can't afford this. It has put us in extreme financial hardship.

We have a baby due in about 5 weeks and I'm looking at taking time off from work without pay. I've emailed this company and contacted them requesting they reduce our payment and they declined to help. Instead they sent me an email about how I can learn to budget better and save money. I take this as a slap in the face. I would never recommend this company to anyone, ever. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to this company. I'm completely disgusted with the way we have been treated and if I can get through this without going bankrupt I'll consider myself a stupid, but lucky person... Beware!

As far as getting sued, although it does not happen often, it can happen. This information is reviewed during your welcome call and in your contract. Often times when we make settlement arrangements for the entire amount, it is our intent to go back and renegotiate a smaller amount when there are more funds available, but taking these settlements, stop the legal process and any additional fees from your creditor. Congratulations on your baby and we look forward to working this out with you.

Freedom Debt Relief has been wonderful for me! I am 12 months into the program and two of my creditors are into the payoff stage. I see a light at the end of the tunnel and I feel that this is the only way I could possibly ever get out of debt. The customer service is TERRIFIC and I could not have asked for a more positive experience! I have recommended several friends to the program already.

This has been a great program for me. Like I said in my title line, I should have done this years ago, but I was afraid and didn't know what the program was. I had some life experiences that just rocked me financially. I was sinking and very frustrated, constantly worrying about my finances and if I would be all right. This program has given me back some peace of mind. The program helps you if you follow the program and help the people who are trying to help you. What I mean by this is: ensuring you are able to make the program payment drafts, contact the program when you receive correspondence from your creditors, respond to the correspondence you receive from Freedom Debt Relief. Know that you will get phone calls from creditors at the start but the program gives you guidance on what to do and how to handle this.

The calls get less and less each month the program is working. Every one of the counselors/negotiators have been true professionals. My debt has been negotiated on many of my accounts and I am transitioning to the next phase of the program. I have been approved for a loan consolidation on my remaining debt to resolve this and start rebuilding my credit even sooner than I expected. I highly recommend this to anyone who is working and feels overwhelmed by credit card debt. But please remember, you have to help the program help you. If you do, I think you will feel so much better and will be debt in a few years. I hope this review will help those who were scared like I was to try this program. It has changed my life and I feel blessed to have found the program. Thank you.
