Freedom has been very good to work with. They usually get back to me quickly when I have questions. I would have liked to have known upfront that they don't contact all the companies right away, they only do one at a time. Other than that, at this point things are going okay. I would like hear from my case manager more. The client portal is helpful, but a breakdown from caseworker would be good once a month.
I'm with the Executive Services team with Freedom Debt Relief and wanted to arrange a time to speak with you over the phone to further discuss your review and see if there is anything that can be done to find a resolution to your concern.
Is there typically a good time that we could reach out to you to discuss further?

After reviewing debt settlements and how they work. I decided working with a debt settlement company was a good option for me. I agreed to pay $404 a month, and was told it'd take 6-8 months to get all the debts settled. After 9 months of paying the $404 a month, Freedom only settled one account and the one account they settled, that company offered me the same settlement a year prior. All Freedom did was approve my creditors settlement and I had to pay Freedom for approving my creditors settlement, which the creditor had already offered me that settlement a year prior.
I was patient leading up to the 6 month mark, but after starting to become anxious regarding the settlements, after 6 months and only one settlement, I started contacting my representative. He quickly answered my questions when I first signed up. After months of Freedom doing nothing, I couldn't get a hold of him anymore. And the few times I did, he was short with me and came off as too busy to really talk to me.
After 9 months and 1 settlement, I decided I could do better on my own. I cancelled with Freedom, and was told they were going to take the remaining balance from my dedicated account. And that'd be it. I agreed to that. That was fine. My $404 withdrawal still came out the following day of the deduction, and I was told I had fees remaining. In short, the person I cancelled the agreement said I'd have no fees to pay other than the money they'd take from my dedicated account. Yet 2 weeks later, they still took the $404 and that totally screwed me. All Freedom does is collect your money while the creditors don't get paid. Eventually, the creditors decide it's in their best interest to settle with you, and that's when Freedom comes in. To be blunt YOU DON'T NEED FREEDOM FOR THIS. You can simply not pay your bills on your own, and the creditors will work with you.
I thought I was making a smart decision by letting financial experts handle this stuff for me. They literally did nothing but cost me more money. You're literally better off doing this on your own. Please take my word on it. You're paying them to do what you can do yourself and frankly, you'll do it faster yourself and for less money. It's not a scam. It's a legit business. But you're paying someone to not work for you. Literally, I paid 9 months into my account. And the only debt they settled, was the one I already had received settlement offers for. They did nothing but cost me more. DO IT YOURSELF OR FIND A NON-PROFIT CONSUMER ADVOCATE!!! Freedom is a waste of money and if you choose to opt out the fees are very substantial.
To be more specific I had 21K in credit card debts. Freedom said they could negotiate the settlements down to 11K. But with their fees and payments, I'd pay them 6K which would leave my final balance with them at 17K over 3.5 years. Well if I took the initial $4,500 settlement offer one of my creditors offered me my credit card balance would've been $16,500 instead of the 21K. In short, due to their fees, the one settlement I could've done on my own, would've brought me down to the same amount I would've paid them over the 3.5 year program. Any other settlements I can make, will make it even cheaper than what I'd pay them, and you can choose which companies to pay first and when.
I'm usually not a person that believes in regrets. I call them learning lessons. But contracting with Freedom was a regret and learning lesson. I was told this by a friend of mine. And I still differed to their so-called experts. Don't make my mistake. Stop being lazy, pick up a book or read about finance. AND DO THIS YOURSELF!!!

The program is fine. I'm pretty happy with it. Anytime there is activity, I think you guys should notify your clients by email, not just phone. It keeps the customer in tuned with the communication. Not always do customers have access or ability to get into the computer and the portal to view activity. Other than that, so far so good. It's still premature though being new to the program.

My only comment is that the people at Freedom Debt Relief seem to be doing an excellent job helping me with my credit/financial situation. They have so far (in the space of 8 months) completely resolved one creditor situation and have negotiated a settlement/payment plan with 2 others. That's 3 out of the 6 creditors I have engaged them with. They respond to me when I call and answer my questions to my satisfaction. I am happy with the results so far.

I was a highly satisfied client until I became unemployed for 4 months. I maintained a payment but had to be reduced. No money was coming in, not even unemployment benefits. One account of two had been negotiated but then fell through due to lower payments. Unemployment in the past is why I am here in the first place. I had no knowledge from FDR that the negotiated contract with Capital One was no longer in place and no one explained what effect the lower payments would make on the negotiated contract. At this point I feel that the communication level with your clients is very poor. Someone should have made it clear what the future held.

I have nothing but good things to say about FDR. Although I'm still somewhat early in the process (under a year in), they have already negotiated a settlement with one creditor, with the next settlement coming up early next year. When I initially contacted them about the possibility of using their services, I didn't just feel like they were trying to sell me on it, but the agent I spoke with was truly honest about what to expect and exactly what FDR does and doesn't do. Unlike dealing with credit card companies, where I felt like it was I was the product and not the customer, FDR left me with a true feeling of being served by people who care about me. I was told that within 3 to 6 months they would have gone to my debtors and negotiate dollar amounts that I owed. I was also told that my credit would stop being hit by those I owed. When this did not happen and creditors kept calling I was told that another company they work with to find new business and customers (such as myself) gave me wrong info. Originally when I spoke with them they told me their cut might be 5 percent of the total amount negotiated to finding out it's 21 percent. When I questioned the customer service man about the above mentioned he told me, "I can't be responsible for what another company told you that we will do for you and you read your contract---didn't you?"
Everyday my credit gets just another hit and only 1 account was settled. This account was only settled because AE was suing me. Which brings me to---I paid for the Lawyer service in case I was sued. The customer service rep who was signing me up asked if I wanted this coverage and he told me it would cost extra. I said yes---only to find out---I had to pay AGAIN??? Who knows because this company isn't upfront nor honest. Thirdly, I have to call a lot to make sure they take an account off or to put one on---and I feel I do more work than this company who is charging me 21 percent. I will not endorse this company to my friends or any one.

I first started FDR in January of 2016 hoping to resolve the 21k of credit card debt I have within 3 years. The first debt under settlement was my largest (AMEX) and I was sued for the full amount. Luckily I signed up for the legal services with FDR but they were unable to settle the debt for less than the full amount. Now I have to pay the full amount of my AMEX plus FDR still gets to charge me the 20% of the enrolled balance for settling my debt (on top of my full amount). I understand this is what I signed up for but make sure you understand this is the risk you take. They will talk it down like this is a rare risk (it could very well be) but it is still a risk nonetheless.
Now I have a horrible credit rating and have to pay most of my debt. Remember it sounds like a good idea at first but your credit rating will suffer until you settle all debts. I would say the customer service is very good at the beginning but once your debts start to settle, customer service is rather poor. Also, the tools and resources on the website are outdated and not helpful at all. I would only recommend FDR if you are on the brink of filing for bankruptcy tomorrow and cannot do credit counseling. Also, make sure you understand you could easily end up paying more than your enrolled debt (full debt amount plus 20% of enrolled debt that FDR charges) like I did.
We apologize you are not satisfied with the results of the program.

We've been with Freedom Debt Relief for a couple of years now. We have one creditor paid off so far. However, we are on to the next creditor who has summoned me to go to court in a week. We have been in constant contact with Freedom regarding this and we are getting nowhere. They keep telling us that they are trying to get the credit card to settle. Now my court date is next week and I was just told by Freedom that we can pay them an additional $895 for them to represent me know court and they can take the funds from my Freedom account.
I thought I was already paying them a lot of money every month to handle all of this. Why would I have to pay them more money for something they should already be handling? If they take $895 from my account to go to court, then that leaves less money to help settle my accounts. When we signed up for freedom, none of this was disclosed and we were told they would handle everything and not to worry. Well I'm worried now! This is beyond stressful and it hurts that we pay so much money for it to mean nothing.

I listed 15 accounts, after 2 yrs I realized I have paid $16,200. They were able to settle 3 credit card company which is not up to $2000. I noticed they are negotiating some smaller debt and two were in progress. At the long run, when I added what they claimed they paid on my behalf and their fees. They charged me $7700 and used $8500 for me.
This is a big scam, a lot of hidden fees, DON'T BE A VICTIM. This company will scam you legally, they will claim 21% of and negotiated debt. They won't care if the creditor want 85%, they will just accept and charge you. Their fees first. They won't explain in details for you. Please don't join, if you are new with them, go to your bank and stop them from coming to your checking. They will always grab your money even if you close your account with them without getting in touch with your bank. Please call me, I will explain to you better how it was all scam, **.

I was receiving several calls a day from my creditors and because of the delay of any settlements my credit was even worse than before I called them. Because of the delay I had to go and file bankruptcy. I called and told them not to take any money from my accounts and that I wanted the money to be returned to me as they had not settled any of my accounts. A week later they continued taking money from my account causing my checks to bounce and adding me more financial stress. They also kept all the money that they had taken from my account claiming it was their fee for service which was over $1000.00. This company is a rip off. I have been with this program for a few years and I'm almost done. I have two accounts left things have definitely slowed down which I don't understand. Overall I am very happy with things. Every time I called they were professional and answered my questions. There is a small fee they charge a month in case you get sued. I recommend that you get that. I was almost sued once and they handled it before it went to court and I didn't know anything about this service. I'm sure I was told but it's so overwhelming at first. I finally checked my credit score the other day and I was very surprised to see how high it was with two creditors to pay. I read some of the reviews and no one can blame anyone for the debt that we create. They are just a way to get it paid off. Your credit takes a hit and you learn to pay cash. I definitely recommend it.
Thank you very much for your positive rating! We are glad that you have had such a positive experience through our process, which can admittedly be harrowing at times. We landed in FDR's front door step due to a very frightful and disastrously financial series of events. Two heart failures along with two bouts of pneumonia. When we realized that we were almost broke we bought into FDR when a very sweet talking, and I'm certain she was well meaning, lady convinced us to enter the program. Now, we are at a standstill. At first the lies and deceit were treated as if they never happened. Now they don't even bother to acknowledge our existence. A Mr. ** promised to give us a bi-monthly (every two weeks) update of our account. Haven't heard from him for almost four weeks. He is in a line of unknown number of FDR reps who have slipped into oblivion without "helping" us as promised.
Our e-mails to him go unanswered. Forget about trying to talk to anyone that knows anything substantial. You will get frustrated at all the times they want to "verify" you are who you say you are. This is NO accountability for errors, omissions or gross deceit and lies. Yes, we have read all the glowing five star reviews. It almost seems like someone should be stoned for showing their shady side. Unfortunately, we know better.
We have also tried to get the American Fair Trade Council to look into the violations of the AFCC's own code of conduct. We forwarded over 30 e-mails to AFCC for review. Their take? "Oh, you sent so many e-mails." Yes, we did. To illustrate to AFCC that one of their members was in violation of their own code of conduct! AFCC seems to be non-customer committed. Upon calling one time we were told, "Oh, the lady that handles talking to customers is out of the country." Most times you get a recording saying, "Our hours are 9 to 5" even if you call repeatedly during their business hours. Forget about leaving a message. Apparently the "one" lady who talks to customers is more worried about her nails.
We won't want her to break one answering a customer! They claim to fame is that they are a "BIG" company. I know mom and pop operations that are run way more efficiently. Their canned e-mail that most customer complaints to them are "miscommunications." If you don't communicate how do you have a miscommunication? So I will make it easy for anyone who wants to hop on the Freedom Debt Relief wagon~ RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! And yes, FDR, you have an A plus rating which you pay the BBB handsomely for~ now we know where some of our 21% goes. Maybe I'll die and go to heaven before we can shake this deceitful monkey off our backs. God help us all if we ever make another mistake of this magnitude. AMEN...

I've read a lot of the negative reviews and my opinion is that they are because the writer doesn't understand the process. Freedom collects a certain amount of money each month and it goes into a bank account. Reductions in amounts due and payment agreements are negotiated with each debtor, usually the lowest amounts first (so those accounts are removed from credit report). I was extremely happy with the process and the customer service because I understood the process. I could see where my money was kept and where it was going. Because of circumstances I couldn't control (health), I couldn't honor my financial obligations. Freedom gave me an alternative to filing bankruptcy and I did I could do given my situation. While I know I didn't fully honor my commitments to my lenders, I did something and Freedom gave me a way to do that. I would recommend them to anyone facing similar circumstances to mine.

However most people that are trying to avoid bankruptcy and enroll in a debt consolidation program do not have the income to qualify for loans or they would have applied for one to consolidate from the start. So Consolidated Plus tells you they can pay off all your creditors in 30 to 90 days all you have to do is apply. Then you apply they turn you down because your debt ratio is high and your income is low, hence the reason you joined Freedom Debt Relief in the first place. For the most part Freedom Debt Relief has paid off or is working on a few of my debts. Little leery of other reviews on here that say they will pay a few and then things go wrong after that. Their welcome letter saying they just got my application and would begin process came six months after I had sent their packet back to them. No explanation but "no idea how that happened." Between the hospital bills, Dr bills, and other medical bills I was unable to pay my credit card debt because I had unfortunately already spent too much not expecting to become ill. My mistake! I was paying Freedom Debt monthly and called them frequently to see what had been done. Almost every time I called I was told (by a different person each time) that they were negotiating and I should expect a settlement very soon. That went on for 2 1/2 years. Now I am being sued by Bank of America and could lose my home.
I am a 58 year old disabled woman (I was born with Spina Bifida) and I am confined to a wheelchair. After I called Freedom Debt and told them I had been sued, they said they were no longer involved with my case and to call their lawyers. I called their lawyers and they told me I needed to look for a bankruptcy lawyer. Now I find out that I will need to pay $650 per month for five years. I get $587 disability a month. I have a small amount of money my mother left me when she passed away but nowhere near what I need so unless something changes I may lose my home. Thank you Freedom Debt Relief! :(

I went into this thinking that they were going to help me. Had I given this more thought I would of never allowed myself to get behind in my payment. This company talked me into letting my debt get behind in payment in order for them to help me. Mind you I wasn't behind in my payments - it was I had so many cards so I thought this would help. To my dismay, I find out that they take more then 80% percent of the payments, and pay less than 25% percent to my creditors. They convinced me that I couldn't get a better deal with the creditors had I done it myself. Now I have court summons for one of the creditors which Freedom want more money to even help me to resolve. To be honest you can do better. Don't pay them for what you can do, just call the creditor and explain your situation and they will help you and you won't have to pay 95% percent to someone that don't have your best interest in mind, just your money.
Well we will see how this plays out. For the record call your creditors cause no matter what as long as you're paying something and you make arrangement with them making sure they don't add any interest and pay your lowest cards off first you will be able to fix your credit. Don't be fooled and use Freedom Debt Relief. I'm stuck for now with little option, paying debt relief over $500 monthly and they only paying $50 monthly.
The payments that Freedom Debt Relief makes to my creditors, now and to the end of this settlement. Meanwhile I still have two creditor yet to be paid. Oh yeah let's not forget one of them is taking me to court for non-payment. What's sad is I just realize how much they were taking and how much they pay my creditors. When I spoke to them they made it seem like, I should be happy they are handling this for me and if I just give more money then they can do their job. Somehow this don't seem right. As you can see they have it all planned out to the end for this creditor and yet I still have two more which I have yet to see any result. One of which I have a court order for and Freedom Debt Relief will help if I increase my payment to them. Father God Show me a way to resolve this in JESUS' NAME. I am a child of the most high King Jesus.

I've been paying in to the settlements for years now. As of middle of August I had 1 payment left of $20, this was verified by the agent and sent to me in an e-mail. When the payment time came, FDR took out $175 which was the bi-monthly amount. I called the agency to try and fix the situation, I was promised that it was an oversight and it won't happen again. They also promised to refund the overdraft fee that my bank charged me. 2 weeks later the same thing happened, they took out $175. Again called the company and was assured that it will be handled properly and all the money, except the $20 I owe them will be refunded. Did anyone else have this experience? I'm at my wit's end!!!

I have been with FDR since Nov 2015, little did I know about the high cost of fees... They collected over 3500, paid off one debt for 1500 and took amount of 940 for settling acct and I got charged a monthly fee of 40 dollars for servicing acct, bank fees, phone fees. I am on a very limited budget, I got served a summons on another acct, but they tell me they cannot act to negotiate till I add more money to my acct, they do not act for you unless you infuse your acct with money above what you are paying monthly, now I have to deal with collection company. Do not use them, the cc companies, and their agents work better and actually you can pay off faster.

Last year we were sued twice. During that time, we were informed of the new legal services you provide for an addition $12. Over the phone, I signed up and filled out a form to increase our draft amount. On the recorded phone call, I asked and verified nothing else was needed. We just got sued again, it's been two and half weeks and nothing has been resolved. Furthermore, I'm being told that there was an additional form that was needed to complete enrollment (which I was never told about or sent) for the legal serviced.
I'm now being told I have to file an answer on my own which is $225 because your service agent didn't send me a required form even though I asked and confirmed that was it over the phone and that you might need more to settle, but the negotiator isn't leaving any updates or notes. Also, we received notices about this becoming a legal matter and worked on settlement for other accounts that weren't priority at the time. I am not happy about this problem or the fact that I'm continually being asked for more.

The main problem I have is y'all will not call a collection agency when the collection agency doesn't know I'm with y'all. Freedom is supposed to speak for me but it takes a summons for this to happen. Then we found out the person that makes the negotiations gets 23%. When I joined I thought Freedom was free but I didn't read the small print and that was never brought up. The small print, my bad, and this will be a learning experience. Like I said the people are super nice but I expected more out of Freedom. I don't like to get a summons before y'all act. I think collection agency should be aware of why I'm not talking to them or paying them money.

I have had several problems with Freedom, as the program was not very well explained. They will not start negotiating until they have enough funds to pay off an account. I was in the program almost six months before they started my first debt, and while they had enough to pay it off, they instead paid only a monthly payment, taking a year to pay off instead. In the meantime I started getting calls from other cards calling for payment, and ironically some offered me payoffs better than I would have gotten with FDR, so I ended up paying off and NOT paying the 20% fee to FDR.
I finally was down to only one card to pay, and they had me contacted by Consolidation Plus. I assumed since this was part of FDR, I would take the loan, make payments, pay some interest and be done, but then I learned that the $16,000 I owed was settled for about $8,000 but I also owed 1600 for the FDR payment, and with interest I now would pay over $12,000. So, I guess I did save $4,000 BUT my Credit Report is a shambles. This is classic bait and switch and destroyed my confidence in this company.

Thank God I changed my mind about going into this or any debt relief company and paying their ridiculous fee. Your own credit card companies will, as they have mine, drop your entire amount down to 50% or less without question, depending on circumstances, and if you keep in contact with them. You may have to pay the amount agreed on over only a few times (my company told me three) and it may be larger sums, but I believe I could even talk further with them about extending that. Or if it goes to further collections, the debt collectors are happy to drop it even further before having to pay a lawyer.
Seriously, I told the salesman, Adam **, I was not interested, over several months ago, and even after I CLEARLY told him, he still pulled money out of my account without permission. I told him to never contact me again and he just did again with this reply today. Adam ** today at 1:40 PM - "Lol, obviously you are the 1 whom is uninformed. I have already closed your file out. When you have trouble it will be too late to get help." VERY PROFESSIONAL!!...NOT. These are not the type of people or company I want handling my money. I hope everyone realizes that you are putting your money decisions in someone else's uneducated and unprofessional hands. You can do the same thing, it doesn't take long, isn't hard, and it won't cost a dime of fees to anyone else.

The only reason I had to go to a debt relief organization was because the man I was dating whom is now my ex, ran all my credit cards up. I hadn't paid attention because I had three neck surgeries and was and still am on pain medications. At the time I was paying between fifteen hundred to eighteen hundred a month on just credit cards. I had to do something, so I called Freedom Debt Relief. I told him I had began the program, his reaction floored me! He said "well you won't be much help now! I moved out of the situation in with a friend.
At first I was concerned because I didn't hear from them for a while, but everything had to wait until about 6 to 8 months when the credit accounts began to send legal letters. That's when I heard from Freedom Financial! They were able to get the amount I owed down, after I agreed to the amount then they began to pay them. I recommended them to my brother who always gets himself in a jam. I have three more accounts that have to come to an agreement. All of this will take three and a half years, in which Freedom Financial takes five hundred dollars out of my checking account each month. So if you're in question if you should do this or not... I recommend you to! In two and a half years I can start bringing my credit back up. And by the way, before I met this man (user) my credit score was 845! Thank you for reading this! I hope perhaps that this may help others!

I have used this company for the last 5 years. I have one year left and all 9 of my credit cards will be paid off. I started with a total debt of over $90,000! Here is what they do: You give them your credit card information. They negotiate with each company to lower your interest rate, often to 6-8%. The credit card companies will close your account. You pay one payment monthly to Freedom Debt Relief and they pay all the card companies (9 in my case). You still get your monthly statements from each credit card so you can keep track and watch your balance go down. For this, FDR charges me $35 a month (added to your monthly payment). Yes, you could do this yourself, negotiate with each credit card company for a lower rate. But I think the fee is well worth it. They are easy to deal with on the phone and I experienced no "hard sell" or pressure. I would recommend them.

Well, after almost 2 years and having 3 accounts totally ignored, to the point they didn't even know the accounts were zeroed out because they "lost" the last 4 numbers on all 3 accounts, and by the way they don't tell you that Chase doesn't negotiate with them, now another account going to an attorney and almost being sued, one account settled, just one - and now my last account once again sent to an attorney, after being sold 2 times to separate agencies, they didn't even know. I am still given the runaround every week. I call, I get different answers from different people, and yet they still will charge me fees. I call, and then I am told there was no record of my call.
Every week, I am told that my account has been "escalated", sent to "legal", "No one has sued you yet'" but still nothing is being done. Perhaps I should have investigated this firm more diligently. They are very successful at collecting their fees, more than willing to tell you anything to get you off the phone, yet nothing is being resolved! They tell you what you need to hear when you call them, in your state of financial despair, and once they have you... you're trapped.

I have sent multiple emails asking specific questions and have effectively been ignored. The person that signed me up is nowhere to be found, voicemail and email messages go unanswered. When I do get a response the message simply tells me to go the portal site. Your referral program sounds good once you figure out what the rules are - it started with a $150 gift card when I referred someone after I was enrolled 2 months; then it was after the referred person made 3 payments; then it was after I made 3 payments; now I understand it's after I made 6 payments... so what is it and do your customer service folks know the facts?
Although you have helped resolve 1 of my 5 enrolled accounts and are working on another - the others continue to rack up late payment charges (and continue to kill my credit rating) and interest charges. Shouldn't these charges stop once an agreement is reached with the creditor? Good company but I'm not impressed with your customer service.

I was completely misled when I signed up with this program. I was told that my money would build in an escrow account until final debts was paid and any and all fees charged by FDR would be collected at the END of the program once final debt was paid in full. Fee schedule also not explained. WHAT REALLY HAPPENED:
I had $10,000 in the escrow account, $3000 was paid to the creditor (on a $16,000 settlement) the other $5,185 (partial fees to FDR) were deducted and paid immediately to FDR. NOT to my creditor. FDR had reduced my payments to the creditor, delaying the payoff process and they are still taking $255 monthly out of my $555 monthly payment for their fees. Also not going to my creditor. Point being, I was NEVER told this OR that they charge 21% of the ORIGINAL debt amount for their fees, which they take up front. Of course I am LIVID, and when I told the agent that I felt that this was unethical business, he actually AGREED with me!! About his own company.
When I asked about withdrawing from the program, I was told that ALL funds paid to date, fees and all, totaling over $8000 (of which only $3000 has gone to the creditor) would be LOST. What a SCAM. Now I am held HOSTAGE by this bunch of criminals. I could've had this debt paid off in a year and had my credit restored to its previous 790 but because they took their cut out FIRST, it will take another 2 years to pay off. THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU ANY OF THIS. BE WARNED. This company practices are unethical. I would never recommend them to anyone.

The information on the dashboard is inadequate and not useful. The information is too limited. My debt is mostly medical, so the company name listed is not always familiar to me. For example, Argent Healthcare is not a name on any of my bills, nor can I find an account number that matches the last four digits FDR provides on the dashboard. I can try to guess using the amount owed, but I have more than one bill that is $731. In addition, after I submitted my initial group of debts to FDR, I became aware that medical providers were willing to forgive the debt upon learning of my husband's death.
They require a copy of the death certificate. So, I asked FDR if they would take a copy of my husband's death certificate to use in negotiating. The answer was this: "I have received your request you had submitted from the client dashboard. I apologize for such a late response back to your request. I send our condolences for the death of your husband. In reviewing your account, we do not see his name listed as a co-client, so it would not be necessary to submit the death certificate." I have no words. Now I am contacting the medical providers individually and presenting his death certificate. Most are forgiving the debt then I have to contact FDR and have the account deleted.
This is what I thought I hired you to do. I sent an email which includes my ** number, asking that an account for Synchrony Bank be added to the list. That was on May 6. I sent another email June 25. I have yet to get a response and the account has not been added. On another occasion, I sent a request to add an account and accidentally did not attach the bill. The response from FDR was this: "We are happy to advise that this email confirms your request to add your Banner Health account ending in ** has been received. However, we are not able to add an account without having a recent statement on file. We request that the statement be no older than 60 days. You may have to call your creditor to request a statement if you are not in possession of one."
I followed up on this and learned that I had accidentally sent the email without an attachment. That is not what was communicated to me. The response was the statement needed to be no older than 60 days, not that a statement had not been presented with my request. There is a pattern of miscommunication happening and I have lost confidence in FDR. I have told my Primerica representative that they need to disassociate with FDR.

As someone who has always had great credit, it was a little hard to stomach turning over 2 of my creditors and just stop paying them, only to see my credit score plummet. I would have much preferred a debt consolidation loan. I also was not pleased that I had to speak directly to one of the collectors to finagle a deal. I thought that was FDR's job.

When I contacted National Debt Relief and got transferred to Freedom Debt Relief with a new phone rep it should have been a red flag for me; however I proceeded to enroll and now regret it. I had way too much credit card debt for them to help, $62,000. I had some hiccups initially that were eventually resolved, and they settled my first debt in less than 2 months and thought everything was going pretty well. I had also signed up for the optional legal representation from NLLG for a monthly fee to "protect" me in the event of a lawsuit. I never missed or changed the amount of the bi-weekly auto debits from my checking even though funds were thin. I thought I was doing everything right. Fast forward to months 7 and 8 in the program, they settled 3 x more debts and I was very happy!
However, at this time I also noticed that my debt free date on the website portal changed daily and I received a letter from a collections company about one of my enrolled debts so I proceeded to submit questions about these issues via the web portal. A few weeks went by, no response. So I sent another request via the portal with the original case numbers and again no response, even a month later. When I first enrolled with Freedom I would get a response within 24 hours, so when my questions went on for months unanswered I started to get suspect of declining customer service. I set aside some time to call to see what the issue was, and then at month 9 I get a knock at my door after work with papers served for a lawsuit. I immediately contacted NLLG and although they were prompt responding back to me I started to do my own research regarding possible outcomes.
What I found was that NLLG basically handles the legal paperwork for your lawsuit and will attempt to settle with the creditor before a judgment is made against you. Best case scenario, you settle, pay NLLG some additional fees and proceed. The problem that I had discovered was that although I had thousands of dollars built up at month 6 of the program, once those 3 additional accounts were settled at months 7 and 8, my account was pretty much drained to cover the Freedom fees. I understood that this would happen going in, however, what I didn't realize is that Freedom would settle debts that would basically take all of my monthly contributions for the next 12 - 18 months after fees leaving me with an escrow account that would not build funds again until those settlements were paid off. So, where would I get the money to pay to settle with the creditor that was suing me? I wouldn't, and couldn't.
If I happened to sell something to pay the lawsuit off, Freedom would still take fees, NLLG would still take fees and even if everything worked out for me with this lawsuit, what would happen if I got sued again? So, before I agreed to anything with NLLG or Freedom I proceeded to consult a reputable bankruptcy attorney to go over my options. What I discovered going over things with this attorney was that I should have filed bankruptcy in the first place and that is on me for not talking to an attorney before enrolling with Freedom. However, given the debt load that I had $62,000 with 48 months to complete the program, and going over the fees that Freedom charged, I was advised that no creditors would have waited that long to settle and that I should not had my case accepted by Freedom. The attorney also advised me that they have seen this scenario with Freedom Financial and other debt settlement companies numerous times.
Oh, and let’s not forget the tax implications of debt settlement. It's not as easy to claim insolvency as Freedom claims, and I don't think most people will want to owe back taxes on top of debt! So in the end, just to sum up my experience, I was in the program for almost 10 months, got sued, have paid Freedom almost $8000 and settled/paid off less than $1200 in debts, and paying for a bankruptcy now. So I cannot recommend Freedom Financial, at least to someone with similar debt amounts as me.
We apologize he has decided cancel his service with us. While enrolled he was successful in resolving several of his debts. Upon approval of the settlements we advise our clients the details of the settlements including fees, if the client does not agree with the arrangement they have the ability to reject the resolution and ask us to go back and review the account. This doesn't mean the end result changes but we strive to essentially resolve their concerns. We have been in contact with him to assure his concerns are addressed and look forward to resolving his issues immediately.

My husband and I have been in the program for 4 months now. We have 2 of our 8 debts in progress and look forward to being debt free in a few years. The main thing for us is that we now have a plan of action, before we enrolled we just saw the debt, and that was a constant reminder of our past (tough financial and emotional experiences) and it looked like we would never see the end. Now we do. We also know that to achieve the goal to be debt free we have to continue to be responsible for making our monthly payment to FDR. We only use our debit card now. No more credit cards for us.

Everyone I talked to is polite. I really do not understand the system completely, but it would help if they would inform us monthly on the progress of the current creditors they are working on, and their plans for the next creditor to be paid. Other than that, overall the people seem nice on the phone.

I would like updated status of where my accounts stand, what accounts they have been in touch with and what negotiations have been initiated. After 6 months in program I still do not know if I made the right choice. I have anxiety mainly because I do not know what is going on and Im getting phones calls and letters from creditors. One being wells fargo which my mortgage is connect to - I am not in default with mortgage but a personal loan with them and Im getting letters stating that repossessions can occur due to loan contract although it is an unsecured loan. It would be nice to have one go to person.
This is a very personal matter and I do not have rapport with one employee. Employees seems annoy with answering questions. I switched bank accounts - did it all in time for drafting. And they drafted out of wrong account causing an overdraft with a fee. When I called to complain - I got, "Oh yes I see what happen". I had to demand a reimbursement of fees. I sent what the gentleman requested and Freedom still has not reimbursed me. I do not feel secure working with Freedom. Yes, one debt had been negotiated and approved and it was a good settlement; however credit reports are still showing the same balance. The personal dashboard doesn't offer much info. It says payments are being made to something collections although it is Citi account. Overall just do not feel knowledgeable, in control, or secure with Freedom financial. I'm hoping by the end of year my impression has changed for the better.

From the first time I called, I felt like I was being treated like a person instead of less than human. I know that you deal with thousands, but your people still are kind and business like. It's what is needed when a person makes that call to you. Almost everything was explained perfectly to me. I say almost because it seems that the fees just slipped up on me and they were a bit of a shocker. I don't fault you for making money, but I think explaining the fees a little more upfront and why would be better. Thanks.
