I'm so extremely pleased with FDR and how much they've helped me get back on my financial path. Best decision I've ever made, though reluctant at first, but I saw results immediately. I was just sent a letter from the IRS for the year 2016 where two of my paid off debts reported me to the IRS and the amount not covered by the agreement, as a bad debt. I just sent the IRS a check for 1,467.00. Does that sound like a good deal? I should have claimed bankruptcy. Now I'm waiting for the hammer to fall on all the other accounts. I contacted Freedom but they were of no help. VERY DISSATISFIED.

I used to have account with TD Bank about 10 years ago but I realized that they keep playing games with me at depositing times & withdraw times to show me that my account goes insufficient amount of money (much of the times they show me I've a negative account for less than $2) to collect from me $35 & they keep repeating this subject for more than 3 times every month until a friend of mine mentioned on Facebook that he likes TD Bank.
I commented that I don't like what they do with me for showing my account always negative to collect money for no reason, I realized many people commented they, the same problem, somebody from the bank called me at 6 am of that day to fix the problem until I losted my job as a limousine driver. I closed my account. When I came to a new job I opened another account with the same bank. I thought they will be wise enough to don't play this game again with me but they started to play it again & again until I closed my second account about a month ago.

It seems that the Litigation Department gets involved when a creditor is dissatisfied with settlement offer. Litigation seems to favor the creditor and always wants to increase deducted bank payment agreed to originally. Most people accept this program because it's a reasonable answer financially to settle. Most of us are already at our financial limit, especially if you rely on Social Security. I feel I was misled to believe that the monthly amount I pay and the time period mentioned for payoff would not vary.

Freedom Debt Relief has helped me immensely!! Soon I will be debt free all with affordable payments that have allowed me to comfortably stay in control of my finances. I had ask for this account to be worked on and paid an extra payment, that didn't have to give, for help on this account that was taking me to court, I was told that contact with Mariner Finance would be taken care of. No contact was made, I was taken to court and made to pay off the account, and all GUS, who would not tell me his last name, at Freedom could do for me was, I didn't have enough in my account!!!! Why tell me you would make contact with Mariner and then not do it? That is lying to me, does Freedom condone GUS lying to their clients???? I had to spend money with Freedom and Mariner I didn't have to spend, more debt thanks Freedom Debt Relief...

It was very hard to pick up the phone to call about getting my debt resolved. I knew it would be a long shot in getting a consolidation loan, due to my income/debt ratio. However, Jose took time to talk to me and get to know me (the best he could through our phone conversation) and heard my story of the financial impact that has hit me over the last few years (with the loss of alimony, child support and significant drop in income due to a change of jobs in the last year).
Being a single mom and trying to raise 3 kids on my own I was always strapped for money. I successfully did (raise my 3 kids) but not without putting myself in what I came to realize for me was a financial crisis. My consumption of debt was always on my mind. It was consuming me every minute of every day. Someone who has prided herself in not asking for help from anyone, took a lot of courage for me to surrender and have the willingness to accept help. With the help of Freedom Debt Relief I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you!

You folks are ok but when I was trying to get info on how much more it would be to add 2 more bills all I got was a hassles and it would cost 100.00 more dollars and so on. You got me living on 600 a month as it is. There no compassion at all. I would not be in this mess if I did not got sick.

We decided to go to Freedom Debt Relief due to one credit card that fell behind and we just could not catch it up. We had to turn over all our credit cards and store cards in order to enter into this program. Our credit rating went from 700s (even with the one credit card past due) to now in the low 500s. All of our cards are in some form of debt collection and our phone became our mortal enemy. This is not a way to get your debt under control. Save yourself some money. Call the credit card companies yourself. Work out a payment plan. At our age, we will never recover our credit from this.

Phone call for info about my account - Spoke to a representative for over 45 minutes. Gave me the wrong information. Wasn’t very pleasant. Said I wasn’t very pleasant. I try to be but she mislead me in what she told me. Call back. Got another representative. Also didn’t help me but did passed me on finally after talking to her for approximately 30 minutes to a supervisor and the supervisor admitted to me that I had gotten the wrong information. My grief was that it took me so long to get the right information.

Overall, to date, FDR has been negotiating and settling our credit card debt slowly but steadily. But beware... we were told before committing that we would not have a problem getting government college loans for our child - this is NOT the case. You must be prepared to let your credit completely tank and not expect any decent interest rates or unsecured loans until long after the program has ended and you rebuild your credit - which could be many years. The program can and will work as long as you are prepared and adequately informed - which we were NOT. We asked questions about college loans over and over, and we don’t know if the agent didn’t know, or just wanted to “make the sale”, but we were specifically told we should have no problem getting a college loan. So beware and proceed with extreme caution!

I was reluctant to sign up for this program because One, I have always paid my accounts on time. Two, I didn't trust these type of programs. After much prayer and thought and the fact that I was financially sinking and bankruptcy was out of the question for me I signed on with Freedom Debt Relief. This program has not helped me at all other than paying off one bill, I have had 2 court cases against me while on this program and they didn't help me neither, but continuously ask for more money so they can negotiate with other creditors. I will never, ever use this company again, I will not recommend this company to anyone.

Updated on 01/28/2021: I became a client of FDR in January/February of 2017 with a total of 22 debtors. I am now as of January 2021 FREE and clear of ALL of my debts through my FDR program! It feels good to be debt free. FDR folks are great to have to clear up debts that were to much to handle against the income that I receive. Thank You again FDR for your help.
Original Review: Being Retired, I still worked part time 20-30 hours a week to be able to pay off my credit card debts. I developed medical issues which caused me to stop working before my debts were paid off. I applied for a low interest loan to consolidate all the high interest credit cards to have one payment that I could afford with the only income I have which is Social Security and a small pension that I receive. The company that I applied to for a low interest loan, connected me with Freedom Debt Relief. Now, being a FDR Client, my high interest debts are being paid off through Freedom Debt Relief with monthly payments that I can afford with the small amount of income that I get each month. Everyone that I have had contact with at FDR has been extremely helpful and professional. I have over $2000.00 in the account and the two collectors has only a few more payments to be paid off. There is enough in the account to go ahead and be paid off and more collectors can be contact to make arrangements to be paid. I need these bills to be paid off as soon as possible because my retirement checks are a lot less than when I was working and able to pay $860.00 a month.

From the moment I picked up the phone and called Freedom, the experience was wonderful. I am hemmed and hawed about going in this direction for a few months. Having been sick and then having open heart surgery and being off work for quite a while the debt started mounting. The calls, the annoyance, I just couldn't bear it any longer. This process has been so easy, each and every one of the agents I have talked to have been helpful and caring and didn't once make you feel bad about yourself about going with this option. Freedom Debt Relief has been a God Sent... I was injured and unable to make more than the payments on my credit cards. I didn't know where to turn. The credit card companies said they would help, but after trying to work with them, they weren't really trying to help me at all and were only looking at their best interests and their billions of dollars. I was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, and decided to try Freedom Debt Relief to address my high credit card debt. I then followed instructions given by FDR, and soon thereafter the collection calls were addressed, and then stopped. I was drowning, FDR threw out a lifeline. I am close to being debt free. The only hiccup I had was a credit card company issued 1099 on amount released, I had to pay tax as normal income. I understand it is the law, but without help from FDR I would not have made it. Thank you very much!

I DO NOT LIKE having people that I owe to have the thought process that "Alan stopped answering our calls". "Let's sue him!" YOUR ONLY ANSWER IS, "CALL US IF IT HAPPENS?" This is too much of a gamble. When you take over someone's accounts, you add the financial institution SHOULD NOTIFY those people and notify them that WE ARE with your program and will be paying the debt. Just because you've been doing it for how ever many years does not mean we want to take the chance of going to court for not paying these bills. I don't like the payment process.

FDR WAS MORE WORRIED ABOUT THEIR MONEY AND FEES THAN HELPING THEIR CONSUMER. I would tell everyone out there to try to negotiate their own settlement first. MY $30000 of debt will put over $6000 in FDR pockets. Also expect your balance and FDR fees to cost you more than the original balance you came in with. Also National Litigation firm, did nothing more than I could have done over 1 year ago if I settle my own claim.

I had several accounts go to collections. They pay one loan off at a time. It’s also hard to reach customer support. I contacted them about the accounts going to collections with no response. I will say the positive is, you can move your payment around a little if the auto deduct is coming at a bad time.

What they don't tell you is anybody can settle their debt with the credit card companies. While waiting for them to negotiate my debts, which moves at a snail's pace, I could of settled them in much less time for the same settlement or cheaper than Freedom does. On top of that they try to get you to sign up for a high interest loan to pay your “debts” off quicker! Would not recommend!

I have been enrolled with Freedom for 2 years now and I have settled 3 accounts. I spoke with my bank today and authorized them to stop all automatic withdrawals from my acct to your company. I am very disappointed in the very slow process that you are dealing with my credit card companies. Instead an offer was made to me by a law firm which will be contacted each card company as soon as they receive my fax tomorrow and my first payment which will be far less than to you. I will look for a refund to my acct within the next 10 days of at least $775.00 as I know I will have to pay for those 3 months of service.

My first withdrawal data was changed by Rep (John) which causes my personal banking account to be overdrawn. After FDR agreed to return the deposit it wasn't for the full amount a fee was added so, the full amount will not be returned. Also I was told by my Rep (John) that my l litigation fee was calculated in my monthly payment. Customer service informed me that the service appeared included. This is a very bad impression for FDR. I believed the company has a good program but have representatives in the need of training.

UPDATE 08/22/2018: The program has really alleviated a lot of stress, and I was panicking before. I would recommend anybody who's in that situation to go with Freedom Debt Relief. This company has made my life a lot better. Everything I have to do is really easy and straightforward. The amounts for my payment plan were also realistic. I didn't have to change much and it was nice because I could make the payment on my payday. I could coordinate all that which was very easy to do. I was very impressed. This is the 2nd time I have had to go with a debt relief program. The first was with a non-profit in IOWA, which I was completely pleased with, but then the second time I went with Freedom Debt Relief, which is a complete and utter scam. First off they began collecting my deposits without dealing with any of my creditors. They simply kept the money until they collected all their misc. fees, plus the 21% of the total debt before even contacting the creditor...
In the meantime, I kept getting calls from companies I owed, along with debt collectors, so much so, that I had to change my phone number... I started this in August, and I terminated this in February, when I went and got a lawyer to go ahead and declare bankruptcy. In the 6 months that I was in the program they negotiated the debt with just two creditors, after I had paid $2420.00. They paid a total of $1118.98 to the two creditors, and I only received $164.00 of my overpayment back. My credit was ruined, I am forced to file bankruptcy, and they walk away with $1137.02 which is more than they paid to the creditors!!! The non-profit credit counselors, negotiated with all my creditors upfront, helping save my credit, while this company ruined it. Filing bankruptcy is a far better choice to dealing with this corrupt company!!!

Predatory agency. They were not upfront with me about the actual amount they take, 20% of initial ENROLLED balance, they do not tell you that your credit will tank to zero, and that they don't work with certain agencies and you will be sued. You are much better off going to a consumer credit counseling agency and continue to pay lowered amounts than to completely destroy your credit and your good standing. This will affect everything from your ability to rent an apt to buying or leasing a car.
They also weren't upfront about other things. Read how they were sued by Dept. of Consumer Affairs. There are other options. If you need help with debt, go first to a non-profit agency, consumer credit counseling, they are not going to take 20% of your balances, and your credit won't be completely destroyed. They told me my credit would take a "dip". They didn't tell me it would go from 700 to less than 400 in a matter of two months. You can't even rent an apt with this credit score. The agents are all nice and the website is fine, but they weren't really upfront with me on what this would actually to do my life or present other options.

I called to sign up for services. The service I received was terrible. You could never talk to the same person about your account. I was told when I signed up that that person would always be available. Never was able to contact her again. Would not recommend this company!

The whole process on the phone from beginning to end took about 20 minutes. That's a lot less time or headache than filing bankruptcy or trying to get a consolidation loan. One word: Bravo!!!

Ms. Betsy ** assisted me with the process of debt resolution. When Betsy asked me to explain my situation and the hardships I have endured, she listened with honest compassion and explained to me that there was indeed, an opportunity to alleviate much of my financial burden. This debt resolution will allow me to continue my graduate studies and continue my PhD in clinical psychology, working with children with disabilities to provide support and essential needs.
Betsy was so patient with me, as I had many questions and was somewhat nervous about such a big decision. Mike was very friendly. He clearly explained everything to me and answered any and all of my questions. Although my debt has become a huge problem, he relieved some of my stress by clearly explaining the debt consolidation process and how it is going to work in my favor. I feel better knowing that I will be credit card debt free in at least 5 years and that I don't have to be consumed with how I'm going to make this month's credit card payments and feed my family at the same time. Now, I can budget a manageable amount every month.

Updated on 08/27/2020: I was trying to figure out how I could consolidate some of my bills specifically my credit card debt. They were very nice and helpful at Freedom. They make it easy and they've been really quick to resolve some of my credit. I was really surprised at how quickly some of those are getting paid off. I still have maybe a year with them.

Wells Fargo states that they have not yet been contacted by Freedom Debt Relief. Capital One calls all day to the point of causing me stress. I am not sure of the name of the one CREDITOR paid off...???

Have been with Freedom Debt Relief for over 2 and half years and have deposited over $13,000. My current funds available is $6,000 and the amount of debt reduction is around $3,000. I have paid them over $4.000 in 2.5 years. I was aware of some fees for this service but when talking to the skilled salesperson they implied that they would be able to negotiate my amount owed to the credit cards to a min of 1/2 of what I owed. While I they have negotiated two of my accounts (one of which the credit company later resent their offer) to exactly 50% of the enrolled balance what I did not know is that Freedom Debt Relief charges would equal the 50% savings. So as it looks today when it is all said and done I will be paying the same amount as I enrolled but 50% to credit card company (which hurt my credit score) and 50% to Freedom Debt Relief.
When I contact them about concerns and issues they are very evasive and dismissive. As I stated above I had one Capital One resend the offer that was agreed upon between FDR and Capital One. I was never notified of this and was only made aware when I was informed that they had a new agreement with Capital One. With this new agreement between the two I was AGAIN charged over $900 agreement fee and when asked I was informed that credit companies can resend or cancel agreements if they decide they want to. I have attempted to exit their program to work with my creditors one on one but it has proven very difficult to get the over $6,000 in my "savings account" back so I am still currently with FDR until I can get my money back that has not been paid to creditors or used by FDR for fees. BEWARE if you use this company.

I just want to say to anybody out there who has found themselves over their heads in debt. There is a solution. Freedom Debt Relief was the best thing that could have happened to me. I paid off all of my outstanding debts and was able to put that extra $900.00 a month towards my home mortgage. We have no credit cards, no outstanding debt, and are financially in a much better place.
