I had concerns when I first joined having never used a program like this. The staff was very helpful and reassuring that they would take care of me. At first I was making my payments and not seeing any results. Then they offered and settlements started coming in. Once I saw the results of my credit card balances being reduced to half my confidence rose. I am now more relaxed as I can see the date when I will be debt free. My experience was great but 2 yrs. later I receive a form saying that I have received extra income that I must claim on taxes. It cost me a headache and 1000 dollars. But this form was from only one bank so be careful which banks you do this with. Make sure you do your research.

Updated on 05/13/2021: Freedom Debt Relief still has one more card out of about 14. I should be done with them in like three months. They've done a tremendous job. On some of these cards, they've been able to get down more than half. So, I appreciate everything that they've been able to do. Working with them has taken a weight off my shoulders. I'm happy that right now, I'm looking for a home. Getting all that stuff out of my way has definitely made me feel better. I'm on a payment plan. They were willing to work with me when it came to that. If I call them and have questions, they'll get somebody on the phone to help me right away. They don't put me on hold or have me leave a message. It's nice that I can still talk to somebody alive.

Freedom didn't "sugar-coat" the process. It was hard at first but exactly as they said it would be. They kept us informed as we made progress and accounts were closed/paid off. They gave us plans/offers for each debt and we held true to the agreements and made amazing progress. Freedom saved us, our home, and our sanity. We have no credit cards at this time. Eva has retired, and we are living better on less. Sincere thanks.

When you get into a situation, you are angry, confused, scared, all at the same time. FDR walked me through the process without being pushy. They were patient. It's very easy to get into a lot of debt but it's very hard to get out of debt unless you find a company like Freedom. Freedom's name say's it all. I was with another company but they were not doing anything to knock down my debt. They could not get all of my debt in one group so I was paying them and still paying half of my debt. Never told up front about 23% interest rate with Consolidation Plus. Also no help on improving credit rating. Overall not satisfied with end result. Was never told about all bad consequences related to this procedure. Ended up not really saving on my debt.

We joined this program after speaking with a member of the team who gave us such hope and laid out how we could pay off all of our debt. In 5 years we paid off all of our debt. This program has been extremely helpful in getting us into a better position in life. After some serious hurdles, we were on the verge of losing our home. The process is quite easy, however it would be most beneficial to have guidance and resources in place to assist clients once the debt has been settled. It was incorrectly explained to us that there would be no tax implications from this, and we ended up with quite the surprise bill from the IRS notifying us we owed a tremendous amount in taxes on the forgiven debt. I would imagine not many people are tax experts and would have this knowledge. So although we are almost finished paying off our remaining debt through this program, we now have a huge amount due to the IRS as well, which will be another long term payment plan.

Every time I contacted the company I was told a different answer or a different story. I never knew who or what to believe! In addition, when we signed up it was all about "you may receive a notice from the cc company that you would need to claim on your taxes." NO! We received one from EVERY cc company. I know you can't control that - but you all know darn well that they are going to send them out. So, in a nutshell - all I did was give you money for doing nothing - since I had to claim the 'reduction' on my taxes each and every time anyway. I would never recommend your company to anyone!

I was not treated properly by this company, they lied to me to swindle me into signing a false contract with no defined amounts and then told me I could cancel any time during the process. No you can't cancel after you sign and that person you talked to in the beginning never returns your calls. Every person you talk to after that simply states "That's not my job, I can't help you with that." Will never use this company again and would not recommend anyone use this company. The amount they claim they save you, they charge you in process fees, and then there's the 30% interest rate, they don't tell you all that until one day you get a notice saying "Congrats you owe us... And it's 2 times what you owed the creditors." You better off just paying off the creditors yourself. They don't do that much for you to constitute them making that much money off of your debt.

This program really helped me a lot. I am making one payment rather than 5 or 6 payments over a $1000.00 a month. I have two complaint: we were not referred to anyone that would give advice on building my credit back and to advise us on taxes paid on the closing accounts. Otherwise I would advise others to Freedom Debt Relief.

Everything was done in a fair way. The only thing was the last bill took too long it was like 6 months and I gave in the paperwork for the settlement. I was told at the end it was not in the right place.

Best experience ever. They were always so helpful and courteous. So glad I was able to get out of debt with their help. It was a process but once you make the decision and the commitment and you begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel makes it all worth the effort.

My experience was very good. The only problem I had was that the person working with me changed. I was offered another option with Consolidated Plus and I was unsure if I should accept it. I did, but I'm still not sure if it was the right move, and the person I originally had as my adviser who I liked and trusted wasn't at the company anymore and I think my new one wasn't appointed yet. When I called to get advice about this the answer was "whatever you think" which wasn't any help in making this decision.

Ever since I contacted Freedom they have worked hard to help me out of my debt crisis and I'm thankful for their efforts. Since Freedom started working on my debt my credit rating has steadily climbed. We are expecting to achieve a good rating very soon.

One of the only gripes I have concerning Freedom is that it took too long to satisfy some of my accounts. I was able to gather the funds to complete the program in July 2016. I submitted the funds but wasn't able to close all accounts until July 2017. I understand it takes some work but many times I had to call to "light a fire" under some of the workers there. Other than that, my experience was pretty positive.

I was really nervous about using a debt relief service. They helped my husband and I get out of what seemed, an impossible situation, and they were there helping us every step of the way. We are so pleased with everything. They were awesome with their customer service.

We did this because I had lost my job for 10 months and then my husband had a stroke. We couldn't keep up. At first this seemed like a good idea. But after several months of paying, what we thought would be about 36 months, turned into a loan. We got a notice on our door from a creditor taking us to court. Now I don't think that came from the creditor. Our address and phone number had been changed to Freedom for months.

I was extremely pleased with the overall process and outcome of handling my account. The step by step process was simple and the result of the final negotiated costs to creditors was better than what I had expected. The monthly cost that was paid to Freedom Debt certainly was reasonable and completing the process has allowed me to move forward toward increasing my credit score.

I was told I could pay off my debt in 4 years. It's now 4 years later I still owe a lot of money and been paying over $500.00 a month, looks like the entire time I was with Freedom Financial all I did was pay them a fee to get a bank to loan me money to pay off my debt.

Throughout the 2 years I was a client, customer service was always very helpful, answered all my questions no matter who I spoke with and would even delay payment for me by a week if needed, no questions asked. HOWEVER, the issue by the end was I was told my final payments were over, and then they were not. My last and final payment of $59.00 even after I am told the program was finished still was not authorized. Only when the following possible due Friday I stopped seeing drafts did I know I was done. Someone different was always telling me "YES, THIS IS YOUR FINAL PAYMENT. And then there was still another amount taken out of my account the following week." I do not blame anyone, just I felt not everyone was on the same page. This may have also been due to the new C+ program that not both companies were up to date, or maybe one not cross communicating everything. But ultimately I had a positive experience.

Smooth & easy process. Entire staff knowledgeable and very professional. I'd recommend to anyone that needs a flawless program. Getting the interest percentage down at the end of program would be the only thing I would like to see changed, or have more options.

I requested my credit cards be settled before my soon to be ex husband and the opposite was done. I obtained a better settlement for my last credit card than Freedom Debt and I still had to pay a fee on the credit card that I obtained the better settlement.

Look out for all fees and interest. Also know that what you save is taxable income. I was lucky to get some money and pay the loan off thus not having to pay high interest. 24% not a real good deal. It cost almost as much as if I had made payments.

I really hate this program and wish I'd never made the decision to use this horrible program. There really is no savings whatsoever. Once I'm done paying this horrible high interest loan it will equal the total amount of my debt. I won't even go into the crap on taxes and dealing with the IRS or the fight I had to endure to keep my security clearance. Stupid of me to fall for such a total waste of time. You live and learn. So I hope someone reads this and you never send me another survey for my opinion.

The folks at Freedom are fantastic — available, patient and totally appear to be on your team. The only word of caution I would offer would be the importance of having your credit in a good place. This will ruin you credit, and that takes time to rebuild. I have learned a lot about the entire credit topic, but regardless, the help we received from Freedom has been immeasurable.

It was never disclosed to us that we would be sued multitude times (3 times) which we had to pay legal fees (approx $3,000) and creditors (6) would send us COD's (1099's). Freedom Financial took credit that they paid all of our debt when in reality they only paid 50%. Will not get my recommendation for others.

When I made the initial call with Freedom Debt Relief I was at probably at the lowest point in my life. Struggling in my marriage, my finances, credit you name it. I literally felt as though I was in a hole and there was no way out. My husband and I had racked up credit card debt somewhere over thirty thousand dollars. Was mislead about program from beginning. Was told accounts were being negotiated when they were actually going delinquent. Was told it would take 3 years to have a 0 balance but after paying for a year was told that I still had four years to pay. Then magically company decided it was in my best interest to borrow the money from them, at a ridiculous interest rate, so I could settle my now delinquent debts to avoid prosecution.

Absolutely disappointed. More than expensive fees. I felt this company just put first your own deals and after deals for customers. Poor information about closed accounts and like a customer I do not want to pay every month for an account who do not exist. I wanted an early full payment and that was a complicated and expensive process with hiding fees and penalties.

This was a frightening situation for me. The emotions were so overwhelming. I felt shame and guilt over not being able to meet my obligations. The people at Freedom Debt Relief were so helpful. They walked me through the process step by step and never made me feel ashamed. With their help, light at the end of the tunnel became visible. Desperately wanting help I neglected to ask about the process which trashed my credit. It was the ways to a mean so it worked for the most part. The major guffaw that happened was that one creditor wrote me about being brought to court. I thought FDR was on top of it, but I was eventually sued in court with no heads up from FDR. I had to pay and am still paying the full amount plus interest.

Freedom Debt Relief was very helpful for my debt situation. I was able to get my debt under control and rebuild my credit. The loan repayment is helpful but it's a lot of money out a month so make sure you are aware of that. I didn't like that the company was vague about the income tax ramifications (all the 1099s). You can settle your debt, but you will pay it back one way or another either through direct payment, the loan or through income tax because you have to claim all that settled debt as income. Be AWARE of that because I wasn't.

Freedom got me out of a bind to get me into another bind... Interest rates are extremely expensive. After two years of paying the monthly of the debt with Freedom Relief there barely was a dent in what I owed. At the end with the high debt I had originally started, there was not much difference of what I previously owed to what I owed Freedom Debt Relief.

How long will I have to pay for past mistakes? Now I owe the government money for income on the amount of money you claim to save all of us loyal customers. I'm paying interest on the money I pay you and I have to pay them as well. I figure till all is said and done I will have paid more than I would have owed them (CC).

Very eager to help me out with my debt problem which I created. You stated to me that my debt could be paid off in four years based on what I could pay and what you could negotiate down from the credit card companies. When you realized that this was going to take longer than the four years, it was decided that the best course to take (which I unfortunately agreed to) was for you pay off the debt and for me to repay you. While you were able to reduce the amount that I owed, you failed to disclose to me unless it was in the very small print that only a lawyer would see that the difference between the negotiated amount and the actual amount owed would be considered actual income and taxed. Maybe an oversight on your part or maybe not. I truly regret using Freedom and should have just filed for bankruptcy or found a better alternative. Your customer service is not customer friendly.

I was nervous that this was a scam but when I asked questions, they always were ready to answer. I decided to trust in the system and let them do their magic. They were able to negotiate my debts way down and offered a loan to help pay them all off. They even have a website so that you can see what is being done and how your debt is decreasing. I finished paying off the loan and now my credit is listed as good. It took awhile but I did not have to do a thing. FDR handled it all. I am working hard to never let myself get that far in debt again.

Everything was great with Freedom Debt Relief. Kept me informed about my accounts. When I switch to Consolidation Plus Program continue paying the $326 to Freedom Debt Relief until debt paid off then, consolidation will be making any future payments. It can take up to 60 to 90 days to make the switch and for the four accounts to be paid. Did I must understand after 60 to 90 days the four accounts will be paid but you continue paying the $326 every month for 35 months. Did I misunderstand about when the accounts will be paid in full, where I'm at my accounts has been 60 to 90 days?

I was very disappointed in the program. When the program was set up I specifically asked about the amounts that were forecasted to be paid and I was assured that it would be that amount or less. On a $50,000 bill that was forecasted at $20,000 we ended up paying $30,000 with your fees and taxes. We only ended up saving $2000.00 at most. More disturbing was the run around we got constantly. I felt when this went to the legal department they did not handle it in a timely manner and then a man showed up to our door to serve us with papers and would not leave when our two daughters were home alone. This is just one example of the letdown that we experienced.

While it's a good thing to be able to consolidate all credits cards and have a company such as yours help with the process, I found it outrageous that after accumulating roughly 6,000 dollars over a ten month period, I was only credited with around 3,000.00 and have no clear idea or explanation as to where the rest of the money was spent. Secondly, while it's natural that my credit would suffer in such situation and would have to work at building it up again, I find it, again, outrageous to be charged a 23% interest for a loan.

When you think of the fees which are like 22% and the fees to later go onto c+ and later be 1099 you question whether or not they are there for you or them. I guess you do save a little though but if you ride out the interest they charge you for c+ it comes to about even.

I was not given all the information before I made a decision. I wanted to get a loan. I would not have closed my credit cards if I had all the facts. I got lawyer insurance but it was not needed because I transferred the accounts before that time.

In the beginning of the process we were happy, but by the end we were extremely unhappy and no one cared. We were NEVER informed of the 1099s that would come and the high taxes we would end up being responsible for and that seemed like a misrepresentation. We also received several 1099s late, after the April deadline, from Freedom and had to pay additional fees to the IRS for filing amendments late. We would not recommend a friend, for those reasons.

I requested a call to refinance the unrealistic finance charges and I was never called. I spoke to a representative regarding the amount of time left on my loan. I believed I was nearing completion and found I had another 4 years. I have paid for approximately 3 years, on time every month and I am considering contesting the loan for unfair practices for excess charges. I would appreciate a call to refinance the balance of my loan. Thank you.

Very unhappy with this company. Had to pay a lot of taxes due to not paying my bills off. I call and no one would talk to me. I had to pay $1900.00 due to not being told about a 1093C form. I think that is the number. I called again and was told that the forms had been mailed to me. I have NEVER received anything from this company.

We were lied to by initial contact rep. He told us as long as we completed all notices to CC companies we would never get calls/Emails/Letters/Judgment, which all happened often/Daily. We got mail for another party. We wound up paying a law firm in san diego. Capital One accounts which all letters had been sent to that we were involved with Freedom. We had to pay for judgment costs from the subpoena. Promises of reductions/adjustments took forever to finalize. There is more, this is the gist.

Medical issues prevented me from working, loss of medical benefits and struggling to get disability almost bankrupted me. The market crash took 40% of my savings, taxes on the remains balance took an additional 10%. All of the combined events were leading to a bankruptcy that was against my ethics and you stepped up to the plate and prevented that bankruptcy. You helped prevent a bankruptcy for me and for that I am grateful. Thank you, so much.

We were screwed by this program and aggressively sold to a high-interest loan company which charges us 22+% interest. Instead of the three years of debt resolution promised by Wendy. Given that going through this process is very, very stressful and upsetting for those of us who have struggled through it, every call to the client service line was very frustrating. Every person who answers the phone is very impersonal and not friendly or reassuring at all. I had several instances where I asked someone to call me back and they never did. Apparently they don't contact every creditor in the beginning to tell them the client is enrolled in the program and will be negotiating a payback amount. I had one creditor who wouldn't negotiate (not Freedom's fault) and sued me. Another creditor just got tired of waiting and sent me a 1099 for a large amount. My credit has still not recovered and I finished the program several years ago. It's just a miserable experience all around. I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Good solution for getting rid of debt quickly. The reps were nice, answered questions by email quickly, it was a good experience. My accounts were settled pretty quickly and with thousands off the balance. At the end, I was given the choice to take a loan to pay off the creditors right away, so our credit could get back on track quicker.

I had so much bad experience with Freedom that I would never recommend Freedom due to not reveal the truth about how the program works. Freedom need to let the customer knows that they taking part of the settlement that is made to the creditors.

Seriously, the first benefit of these programs is knowing that a plan is in place and you can start to put your mind at ease. Everyone's details are different, but if you can handle the payments, you just sit back and let the program work for you. We started with almost 80k in debt. It only took 1 year to get the first 40 paid/settled, and 4 more years of 1 loan payment and we are completely debt free. 5 total years, and after 1 we are already rebuilding our credit with a single loan and all past settlements getting further in our history, as we rebuild credit.
