UPDATE 08/22/2018: The program has really alleviated a lot of stress, and I was panicking before. I would recommend anybody who's in that situation to go with Freedom Debt Relief. This company has made my life a lot better. Everything I have to do is really easy and straightforward. The amounts for my payment plan were also realistic. I didn't have to change much and it was nice because I could make the payment on my payday. I could coordinate all that which was very easy to do. I was very impressed. It’s now easier to manage what I have going on. I have a peace of mind knowing that even though I’m not making the monthly payments, my debt is being handled.

This is the 2nd time I have had to go with a debt relief program. The first was with a non-profit in IOWA, which I was completely pleased with, but then the second time I went with Freedom Debt Relief, which is a complete and utter scam. First off they began collecting my deposits without dealing with any of my creditors. They simply kept the money until they collected all their misc. fees, plus the 21% of the total debt before even contacting the creditor...
In the meantime, I kept getting calls from companies I owed, along with debt collectors, so much so, that I had to change my phone number... I started this in August, and I terminated this in February, when I went and got a lawyer to go ahead and declare bankruptcy. In the 6 months that I was in the program they negotiated the debt with just two creditors, after I had paid $2420.00. They paid a total of $1118.98 to the two creditors, and I only received $164.00 of my overpayment back. My credit was ruined, I am forced to file bankruptcy, and they walk away with $1137.02 which is more than they paid to the creditors!!! The non-profit credit counselors, negotiated with all my creditors upfront, helping save my credit, while this company ruined it. Filing bankruptcy is a far better choice to dealing with this corrupt company!!!

Predatory agency. They were not upfront with me about the actual amount they take, 20% of initial ENROLLED balance, they do not tell you that your credit will tank to zero, and that they don't work with certain agencies and you will be sued. You are much better off going to a consumer credit counseling agency and continue to pay lowered amounts than to completely destroy your credit and your good standing. This will affect everything from your ability to rent an apt to buying or leasing a car.
They also weren't upfront about other things. Read how they were sued by Dept. of Consumer Affairs. There are other options. If you need help with debt, go first to a non-profit agency, consumer credit counseling, they are not going to take 20% of your balances, and your credit won't be completely destroyed. They told me my credit would take a "dip". They didn't tell me it would go from 700 to less than 400 in a matter of two months. You can't even rent an apt with this credit score. The agents are all nice and the website is fine, but they weren't really upfront with me on what this would actually to do my life or present other options.

I called to sign up for services. I had lots of questions due to the reviews and public information regarding debt consolidation fees etc. I wanted to review the contract before committing and was told my routing and account number was needed. Well ironically the phone hung up. The rep did not try to call me back. I called back 3 times he did not answer. No supervisor was available to address my concerns. Now I have to change my account info to avoid any fraud. Not a good way to start off!

When Betsy asked me to explain my situation and the hardships I have endured, she listened with honest compassion and explained to me that there was indeed, an opportunity to alleviate much of my financial burden. Wells Fargo states that they have not yet been contacted by Freedom Debt Relief. Capital One calls all day to the point of causing me stress. I am not sure of the name of the one CREDITOR paid off...???

Have been with Freedom Debt Relief for over 2 and half years and have deposited over $13,000. My current funds available is $6,000 and the amount of debt reduction is around $3,000. I have paid them over $4.000 in 2.5 years. I was aware of some fees for this service but when talking to the skilled salesperson they implied that they would be able to negotiate my amount owed to the credit cards to a min of 1/2 of what I owed. While I they have negotiated two of my accounts (one of which the credit company later resent their offer) to exactly 50% of the enrolled balance what I did not know is that Freedom Debt Relief charges would equal the 50% savings. So as it looks today when it is all said and done I will be paying the same amount as I enrolled but 50% to credit card company (which hurt my credit score) and 50% to Freedom Debt Relief.
When I contact them about concerns and issues they are very evasive and dismissive. As I stated above I had one Capital One resend the offer that was agreed upon between FDR and Capital One. I was never notified of this and was only made aware when I was informed that they had a new agreement with Capital One. With this new agreement between the two I was AGAIN charged over $900 agreement fee and when asked I was informed that credit companies can resend or cancel agreements if they decide they want to. I have attempted to exit their program to work with my creditors one on one but it has proven very difficult to get the over $6,000 in my "savings account" back so I am still currently with FDR until I can get my money back that has not been paid to creditors or used by FDR for fees. BEWARE if you use this company.

I paid off all of my outstanding debts and was able to put that extra $900.00 a month towards my home mortgage. Updated on 1/14/2019: We have had accounts settled to satisfaction. However when we enrolled our daughter and son in law were in the program. They have since finished. We were told that our daughter and son in law would get a referral fee. My son in law has questioned it many times as have I. We are always told they will receive it within 10 days, we have heard this lie to many times to count. Now that the kids are done Freedom has continued twice to take their monthly deposit out of their checking. Now on top of never getting the promised referral they have not been successful at getting the monthly deposits back that have been wrongfully taken. I know now to be very careful. As soon as we graduate I am going to my bank to stop payment on any further deposit withdrawls.
Original Review: When we signed with Freedom we were told it would be a 4 year program. Well in 6 months with them we have received 3 settlements. Ok they did something there. However recently the dashboard was showing a bulk settlement being negotiated for 5 accounts then it dropped and went back as strategic hold. A few weeks later all the same accounts showed bulk settlement again. Yesterday all 5 dropped to strategic and an different account now listed as bulk and just that one. In 6 months time with them out graduation date is steadily moving out longer. We were originally a graduation date of Sept 2021 and now yesterday it was January 2022, today I sign into the dashboard and graduation has become March 2022.
Seriously they are making me think I should have just filed bankruptcy. I have seen people bounce back from bankruptcy quicker. I called and questioned this to a response to put more money in our account. They knew when we signed up the program was leaving us $146 a week to live off when my husband only has 40 hours. Winter he most times does not get 40 hours. Therefore they knew from the start we wouldn't be able to put much extra in. The woman I talked to today said "Well what about income tax return money". We needed what we did get to help us. Besides when we signed up and I mentioned maybe if we could possibly swing it and put income tax money in we would do that. We were told they don't recommend doing that. We should save what we can to have a cash back up. Talk about contradiction.
Then they promise people that they have a referral bonus. We told them our daughter and son in law referred us. We were told when we made our 4th deposit they would get the referral bonus. I have called them 4 times about it since it was never paid. Each time I was told it must have been overlooked they would send it immediately. The daughter and her husband still have not received it. All I can say about Freedom is right now I would not recommend them to anyone. All they do is lie.

We were at our wits end, then I received an email from your company. Steven ** was very thorough in his presentation with us today. We were not sure what the program was about and how it could help us. However, after much discussion we realized this was best suited for our financial situation at the present time. I am still in the early process of all this but it seems to be easy and painless so far. Worst part for me is switching bank accounts because my credit card is attached to that bank. I think this will be a good thing for me to cut down on the interest rates I am paying. Nicole was very helpful.
