I was worried to do this but I'm glad I did. It's nothing like getting help before it's really too late! Was easy and simple and all questions were answered. I must say I'm glad that I didn't wait longer because I don't wanna live my life in debt and it's really an eye opener and hopefully young kids today understand what happens when you have too many cards!

I'd like to thank Linda ** for the opportunity to work through my debt load and hopefully find myself out of debt within 5 years. I know that it will not be an easy road to go down, but it is necessary for me to get out of debt as I get older. Linda was exceptionally professional and very upbeat even though this is not an easy career. Obviously she likes her job helping people. I will see to it that I can bring more business to her in hopes of helping others. Please be sure to take care of Linda because it's people like her that make your establishment prosper and grow and help others in a positive way.
In the weeks, months, and a few years from now I will have a better understanding of this program and be able to give you a better assessment. Visit me then. My experience with FDR went well, it wasn't until Tax time when I started receiving 1099's from the creditors for the forgiven debt that I was made aware that it's considered pay on my end. This is after I had filed my Taxes and I had to start filing amendments. After thirteen or so I owed around $13000 In taxes instead of the $600 I was supposed to be reimbursed. Now I'm having to file Chapter 13. Ask Questions before Proceeding.

I thanked this company and program to help debtors but I will advise the Freedom Debt Relief to reduce the time of starting paying the creditors to two months to six months. Also if freedom can work with bank or financial institution to pay all amounts or little when a debtors apply in the program. The freedom can pay first 40% to the creditors when you applied and let know the creditors that others funds will follow and collected 60% to pay in two to six months. Just if freedom debt relief could be a consolidation loan or added this option.

I am not happy. One of the creditors will not negotiate with FDR. I'm told now I need to get a litigator or I could be sued. Credit is ruined anyway. I might should get in on the suit against FDR. Need help.

We entered into a plan with Freedom on our debt that at the time was crushing us financially and eventually mentally with all the collection calls/attacks at all times of the day - at home and at work. The vultures could care less about calling you at work - they don't play by any laws. While it took some months to take effect eventually Freedom was able to get them to stop calling and when our phone went silent from the calls it was such a relief. It takes a lot of work (calls and initial paperwork) between you and them but it does pay off if you listen to their advice.
You have to realize and believe this is your last chance to get rid of the vultures so you do what they say and all works out in the end. They handled most of our accounts early but we had one nasty hanger on that ran them almost to the end of the time we were told it would be over - but they got it done and still within the time frame they gave us to be debt free. If you are at wit's end - these are the people to get to fight for YOU! You cannot do this alone. These guys were great. Thanks Freedom Debt Relief - we are finally RELIEVED!

I chose to enroll in Freedom Debt Relief because the bills kept adding and piling up. A lot of that was my doing, but I had to rely on credit cards to get by. This company is rip off. Don't do it. I had a 725 credit score with a high dti. When I first talked to Freedom Debt. I was told I would have one person to walk me through program step by step. Signed up, never spoke to him again, all of a sudden he was no longer available. First settlement came fast. I made my payments every month on time!! All of sudden they settled another debt and quit paying on the first one! Never notified me until I received papers from court requesting to appear in court and pay in full or judgment would be placed.
Called Freedom several times, no one could say anything except, "Well you changed your payment date!" Not True!!! Finally got consolidated loan and paid off debt with paying a fee of over 3000 dollars to Freedom. Now it’s tax time and I get all these 1099 from Freedom after my taxes were filed. They arrived on March 14 not by January 31 which is what law requires. So guess what - now I get to pay 3400 in taxes. Major mistake!!! I learned the hard way!!! Don’t do the same. Take it from me. Settle the debt yourself. It will save you money and headache!!!

I had spent the last few weeks trying to find a consolidation loan to try to stop living paycheck to paycheck. Heaven help us if we experienced a bump in the road (which of course, we did). First they assure you that you will not have to pay anything if they do not settle your debts and you have to approve all of the debt settlements before they are accepted. However, they then basically offer you the settlement and then tell you it is the best you can get and pressure you to accept it. They also charge you a monthly fee, they charge you a monthly fee for legal services, then for each debt they settle they charge you a settlement fee and a fee to transfer the settlement. So we understood we would be charged about $900.00 if they settled our debts, it was actually about $6,000.00 in settlement fees and $1,000.00 in interest. This was all charged in one year. We also paid an additional $1200.00 which I haven't quite figured out yet.
Next they call you and offer to finance the settlement so that you can achieve success faster. However, if you accept this you then get to pay that new affiliated company 22.9% interest which was more than we were paying to our original credit card companies. So overall we took $32,000 in debt and reduced it to 15,500 and paid an additional $7,200.00 to this company to do this (in one year, pretty good profit). So now we are in the consolidation mode and this new loan is set to run over 5 years at $558/month. So we will not be debt free in 24-48 months but rather 72 months and we did not owe that much and have paid more than requested the whole time. In addition, our credit had not been affected and now it has. Think long and hard about this because these companies are in this for one reason. Money.

Fine print did not mention if I back out I would be charged 10,000, not to mention that only 2 acct have been negotiated and I was instructed to take out loan to pay balances, knowing darn well it’s not going to go through, because my credit score fell, so no. I’m not happy with Freedom.

Where do I start? I had several credit cards that I needed debt relief on. At first, I called Freedom Debt Relief (FDR) to get information on how to do debt a consolidation loan, as I didn't feel right about defaulting and not paying all of what I owed. As soon as I requested info about debt consolidation, the representative began to steer me to and sell me on defaulting and settling my debt instead of a consolidation loan. After getting sold on this I had agreed to settle my debts. A little background on me, I have always paid my debts, my credit score was 740 at the time and I was having a hard time paying my cards due to some unforeseen events.
Once you start the program, they tell you to stop making all payments to your creditors. They want you to be behind so that they have leverage to negotiate with the credit companies. They start by having you make some monthly payments into your account and then they start negotiating for a settlement with the credit card companies as the funds build. It seems as though they work on the smallest debts first (this will become clear of why they do this shortly.) You are going to start getting harassed by everyone you are not paying. FDR will start to slowly settle a small account or two, the large ones that they have been putting off are growing exponentially. Eventually, these larger accounts are going to take you to court as it seems FDR is hoping that they will. This happened to me. Then when you call them in a panic about you getting taken to court, they have another high pressure "solution" to sell you!
This conversation goes very differently. They keep bringing up the fact that you are about to get sued to scare you into borrowing more money! They try and sell you "legal advice" and then loan with 27% interest so that you have enough money in your account to negotiate immediately with the creditors who are taking you to court. Yes, the people who are "helping" you get OUT of debt are selling you more debt and using your fears of a lawsuit to push it. How great is that!? They tell you that if you have a certain dollar amount of ** in your account, they can settle it all right then.
You just now owe FDR for the amount needed plus a plush 27% interest! My cards didn't even carry interest rates that high. I went to another creditor to get the exact money they said I needed in my account to settle ASAP so that I would avoid a lawsuit. I put the money in my account and requested that they settle. Of course, now the amount that they originally quoted you, isn't enough money to settle everything. The figure they gave me only works if you borrow from them. Wow!
Long story short. It was a never-ending battle of phone calls with poorly trained representatives and even worse managers that would dodge your calls and would never follow up. I ended up borrowing even more money just to settle everything as soon as possible. Then I worked my tail off to pay everything down. A few more kickers. My credit score went from 740 down to 425 during the process. Oh, and one more thing. Once they do settle and you get a payoff amount lower than what you owe, all that cash that was forgiven must be claimed on your taxes!
If you get a $10,000 reduction from what you owe, you'll have to pay taxes on $10,000!!! It's a nice little kick while you’re down around tax time when you thought it was all over. Save yourself some major headaches by not dealing with this conniving and greedy company, it's not worth it. You’re better off getting a real debt consolidation loan, or just working extra and making principal payments on your current debts.

I don't recall been told of negative results for credit score if I signed up. I can live better with lower monthly payment but credit score has been hit hard and I can't borrow $1.00 anymore!!! My credit score was in mid 700s now at 517!! Can't qualify for VA loan! How can I fix this?

Jerome did a good job addressing my concerns based on the CFPB allegations regarding the ability to negotiate with Chase and Amex which I had read refused to deal with debt management companies and then basically told the customer you’re on your own: here are suggested talking points: not the promised service at all yet held to its entire fee without adjusting for the creditors it could not approach.

We started with Kathleen who indicated to us, that, when we joined FDR for credit card debt that it would be settled on our debts at one time and this would be the amount we would pay $391.00 on the 4th and 14th every month for up to 4 or 5 years. Also, we would not be sued. I used to work for attorneys which is why I wanted to make sure papers were not filed. (small town - very embarrassing). We have now been sued for three accounts and I think more to follow. On one of those judgments we had to borrow money which was not easy since our credit had been destroyed while waiting for this process. Another one had to Start in November, 1/2 payment and December it was a full payment.
After the attorney said they were going to garnish on this I, had to make up payments and still making. FDR said that would not fund until June. Then they want to raise my payment to $662.00 twice a month which I cannot make because I have to make payment of $457.00 each month. Penalties & interest continue on accounts they have not settled yet. We would have done better if we handled it ourselves.

The second, literally, the second I hit "Send" after putting my contact information into the computer, my phone rang. At the other end of the line was a calm, confident voice that could sense I was embarrassed and defeated. Wes, my Debt Angle, put me at ease and within minutes had worked up a doable solution to a problem I had been struggling with for months. At one point in the process, we were at a point where Wes had to do something on his end that was going to take a little time. He said he would call us back shortly, and he actually did! He provided all of the steps for me to take that were so easy to understand. He knew the answers to questions I had before I even asked them as he understood what I was going through.

The person working with me gave me a basic explanation of the program but when it came time to go through the contract it was rushed. I didn't have time to read anything. I was directed to initial here and sign there but I really had no idea what I was signing,

I am a horrible phone communicator. Not for any reason other than I hate talking on the phone. This was made so easy for me with emails and only a 15 min phone call. It has taken this long to answer about my dealings with this Co. At first it went pretty good, the bartering part I was really impressed. They did (I thought) a good job. Then I had my taxes done and all the money I saved was gone. Several of the companies had sent in income forms with a huge amount of earnings of the money they saved which made me earning 8000.00 more. So I really didn't save anything but a big headache.

When I first contacted Freedom, I was assured my program would be finished six Months ago. They now say it will be completed in January 2019. I think they are charging me too much. My brother had to go through this with more debt because of a divorce, and finished 18 Months sooner. Will never do business or recommend Freedom to anyone!

Kind knowledgeable people. Very helpful. Quick to respond to questions. Was a great experience all the way around. Easy access to information. The dashboard that they have is very easy to maneuver through. Answered all of my questions in a way that I could understand them. Just was overall really a good experience.
