    The debt consultant didn't talk to me too much. It was hard getting ahold of CountryWide a lot of times. I was calling them to try and get them to give me payoff amounts and they were giving me the runaround, waiting, saying they were still going through and waiting on the bank to accept stuff. I didn't know if they were telling me the truth or not because they thought they put me on hold one time, and they didn't, and I heard them talking and calling other people names that I talked to. It was a little bit shady. I was just looking for a break from the credit card companies so I could get the money together without having to go to court. I used them and I probably paid them more than I needed to. If only I would've just waited, but it is what it is. I'm debt-free now and that's all the matters.

    The customer service representatives were ''Eh" because they had to get more information from the manager. But there was one lady that once we talked to her, she just handled it. Her name was Mary and she was a supervisor there. We just hope they won't have to go that extra step to a supervisor to make sure something gets resolved. They should all be knowledgeable with the same thing. Our process was short because we sold our house and we were able to take care of all of it. CountryWide did a fantastic job lowering the payment that we owe the actual creditor so it was awesome. They actually called us saying that this is being taken care of, we don't have to worry about anything, we don't have to leave the house, and that they're on this. That made us happy. If we didn't have them, there would be more trouble and problems to deal with.

    I was ending up with no money and needed to do some consolidation. I looked around because the people that I was talking to were out of state, and CountryWide was just local, so if I had any questions or if I had to visit, I could just drive over there and talk to them. The rep I worked with was one of the most persons that helped me out a lot than the others I talked to 'cause every time I had a question, it was a different person every single day. I got her number and I talked to her. She made me feel much better than I was before in that situation. I'm debt-free. But right now, I'm trying to purchase a vehicle, and it's not looking pretty good my way because the company checked my background and they looked that I was in a debt consolidation so they won't work with me with that. But then CountryWide helped me out a lot on paying off all my debts.

    I talked to another person that's also doing the same process, and she's been doing it longer than me. I told her that I'm done and debt-free. She asked me how I did it and I explained to her. She said she's still in the same boat. I was in debt with probably 30 or 60 and she's still stuck. For me, it's a lesson to be learned. I guess I got the good side of the straw.

    I had some outstanding debt because we had a house that we ended up losing. I saw some ads and then I checked ContryWide out. It seemed like it was legit. They always kept up with what was going on and giving me letters. I could call my relief negotiator anytime I wanted or email them. They got back to me within a couple of hours or sometimes a day, but never longer than that.

    CountryWide gave my creditors all the things that I already paid and what my paycheck was, and then they figured out what would be safe for me to be paying them without hurting myself and still have money. They helped me get all the creditors to accept payment and not accept I have to pay it all at once, and then I was able to get them all paid off. I no longer have to worry about all the bills and things are starting to look up. It helped me figure out a financial plan and stick with it now so I wouldn't end up in that same position anymore. The people there were very helpful. Even one time when I had a problem, they get a payment, they were flexible and could change the date whenever I needed to of the month if my payday was different than we originally did. Then, a couple of times where I couldn't pay at all because of medical, they actually made it up the next month for me so it worked out real good.

    We were wanting to buy a home and my credit was great, but my debt to ratio was way off. It wasn't something that we could do with that much debt. So I decided to try CountryWide. They were really good. But the communication could've been a little bit better because on our end, we didn't know what was transpiring with the settlements. There were two cases that I got a judgment on my doorstep that I was going to court. That part was super nerve-wracking because I was thinking everything was handled, and then I got two judgments on my doorstep. But as far as I was handling it all, they calmed me down.

    One guy called me a couple of times and he was kinda stern with me. He said, "You need to stay out of the process and back out." Because I kept getting all these letters and then I wasn't getting a response, so I picked up the phone and called the collection company and I told them they needed to deal with CountryWide Debt Relief. But that was a huge no-no. I can't pick up the phone. That's their job. But they were leaving me hanging and I was stressed out because the collection companies kept blowing up my phone.

    I was a couple of years into the program. Now that I'm done, I have zero regrets because we were able to buy a home last year. But I would go from being, "Okay, I made the right call," to being, "What the hell did I just do?" I kept going back and forth with how I was feeling about it because I didn't know how it all worked. I never missed the payment. So when I was getting all these threatening calls and all these judgments, I didn't know how serious it could become. But in the end, they did their job. They promised what they were doing. I got what I intended and I'm pretty much debt-free. I'm done making the payments, which is awesome.

    I researched companies through the web and I kinda liked CountryWide. I saw that they were affiliated with Business Affair. They had a lot of good report about them. There were a lot of good comments. Even when I called them, they were very nice. They explained the program to me because I had never done it. When I saw how many credit cards I had, and then the day I spoke with the woman, she said, "You don't even see when you use so many, how it can become a habit." But now, I only have three cards and it's manageable. I learned to not buy the pair of shoe I want, and it made me look at not to consume what I don't need. I've become so different.

    The money seemed to go to one person in the beginning of the first year and then somebody else took over. It went to paying somebody different. It depends on how they set it up. But in the long run, it got a little too much for me because I work two jobs just to get rid of the debt. But at the end, I only had 5,000. I called them and I said I wanna pay it. Because I did it like that, they kinda took care of me a little bit and they said, "You've been taking care of it so much that we're gonna take care of you and a couple of more credit cards you had."     I was failing to pay our credit card bill on Bank of America. I got a notice that they had filed suit against me from CountryWide. Their phone number was on it, so I called. They were very helpful in getting me a payment plan and getting me out of legal trouble. They sent me some paperwork to sign and I let them know the exact amount of the debt.

    They had a computer program that told them what the minimum was that I could pay per month and set up an automatic debit out of my account. The program worked for me in handling the legal issues and negotiating for me with the debtor. It was always very easy working with their rep. I was very comfortable. They were very kind about it, no blaming and no lecturing. They seemed to understand that people get into debt and need help to get out of it. I would recommend them.

    The program allowed me to get the debt back in hand but they weren't as clear about how the process would go as I would have liked. Also, a bit more communication would have been appreciated. I could speak with them but I expected progress reports and contact in terms of what was being negotiated and what was being taken care of.     I incurred overwhelming debt regarding payday loans that were absurdly high in rate and they fell way behind. Every time I'd get paid, my account would be negative because of the fees and interest occurring. I reached out to CountryWide and first, they said they didn't deal with my particular debt. Then they reviewed my account for file with management and I got a callback saying that it was approved and they could move forward with helping me. I went into a six-year program. Whenever I needed to run into a few emergencies, I asked them to extend my program a couple of times and they did so. They gave me a payment plan stating that my total amount would be this much. I thought they were gonna get on it right away in addressing what was pending. But they told me that we had to wait six months. That adds on more to the debt, so the total amount that I'm gonna owe is higher.

    I lost track of how much money I was giving them. Then I got a letter and email confirmation that I completed the program which I wanted to double-check and make sure everything was paid off. I got the impression that CountryWide didn't want to provide that. The way they left off and the documentation that I was provided just didn't add up. I've been paying for years with $500 a month. When adding the money up, it was close to 15,000. They were stating that they only received 11,000, so there's a $4,000 difference.

    In the past, CountryWide had been very understanding and compassionate. The office was luckily close to my house. I was able to visit there when there were normal business hours. But everything changed once the COVID hit and I wasn't able to do that. I was concerned because they were straightforward like breaking down the payments and the adjustments that were made, and detailing what was going on with my account, how much money had been received, and what was in any global account to pay off the debt. I felt confident that everything was as I was described that they would be except at the very end. I knew that I paid all this money for all this time. Communication is not as accurate. The last thing I need to do is acquire more stress.

    To this day, I wonder if this is a scam all along because I'm still getting calls from the accounts that were pending saying that I'm not paid. I told them that it was not right because I was assisted by a third party company to address this debt. If it wasn't addressed, then I needed them to send me some documentation so I could present that forward to CountryWide. It is a great program, but be very cautious and detailed.

    I needed to get certain debts cleared and CountryWide Debt Relief fulfilled it. However, I would've like for them to be more in contact along the way. Sometimes I would try to get a hold of them and when I called in, there'd be, “Leave a voice message and we'll get back to you.” It sometimes took a couple of days for somebody to get back to me. I finally got the answers that I needed. It just sometimes took a while.

    Also, the negotiator seemed to change. Initially, I had one and before it was all done, I went through three different people. Towards the end, I wanted to know when things were happening, and I wasn’t getting informed. They just said, “That’s gonna be done soon and we should send you a notice on it.” In setting up a payment, they said, “This is what we need to do to get this done.” It didn’t sound like there was any movable room on that. They said, “This is what it is.” Nevertheless, I completed the program eight months ago. Working with CountryWide definitely helped. I just wish I have been better informed.

    I had a debt with Capital One and they were taking me to court. I was in a situation where I really needed the help at that time and I thought CountryWide Debt Relief could help me out, which they did. But I had a wrong understanding. I paid $500 upfront and I thought that was all they would charge me and have them to settle the loan out. I should have asked more questions before I got myself into the program. I had Bank of America loan also. It was over a certain period of time so they just squashed it, but I ended up having to pay some taxes. I was stuck in this contract.     The reviews made me decide to work with CountryWide Debt Relief and their program works. It got me out of debt. I just hate that they can't start negotiating with the creditors right away, why they gotta let you get so far behind. But then, that's the only way the creditors will work with them. The only downfall that I had was that every time I called, I was getting someone new. I could never get a hold of the same person. It seemed like I was always getting a hold of a third party, someone who didn't know who I was, what I'm talking about, who I needed to speak to. It was a little aggravating. I wish that each person could be assigned a certain caseworker, somebody that would just handle their case, and not just random people every time I'd call.

    So far, the CountryWide program worked for me. It was working just fine, but I got to the point where I was able to get the money that I owed out of my 401k plan. So, around the last 12,000, I went ahead and paid it off. There were debt people that I still hadn't negotiated with, and they didn't try to negotiate with them. They said, "We'll pay this much," because they had it instead of what they initially told me they were trying to get it down to. And I sent them a check for $12,000. Still, working with them has impacted my life tremendously. I like not having a credit card debt.
