They wouldn't refund me the same day that I accidentally signed up for renewal to see if my account was still active for renewal turn. Felt like it wasn't active for renewal and I activated it by saying that they could email me and that's it. That's all the page said. So to me it's theft. They won't the only refund me $23 of the 77 the same day and I actually went on to my account in order to get my account number or they won't cancel it and when I call them back it was already too late. In all in the same day to me this is stuffed and I just can't believe this. I did talk to a supervisor even someone. Please help. This is a crime.

It is impossible to contact Match, to find out anything about my account, or to cancel. I've written letters to HQ that have gone unanswered and my credit card is still charged. It's not worth the money. They send the same few profiles every day, and the people on it are very wary and paranoid. Best to meet people in person doing activities you enjoy.

Let me start off by saying, I had high hopes for Match.com. My sister met her husband on that site and I've had other friends with relationship success stories. So I signed up for Match.com 6-month membership $125. More than 6 months comes around and I haven't really been using the site due not liking anyone on the site. I only talked to one person I was interested in and we never went on a date or met in person. So in the last 4 months I really didn't use it. Then I notice a $125 charge to my credit account. I immediately cancel my subscription and call Match. They state, "I'm sorry we don't refund and it was written in the disclaimer about automatic renewal." I was irate and started cussing, the operator asked me, "Please don't use that language. We don't speak like that at Match" and I laughed. "I think you'd be cussing if I stole $125 from you!"
Anyway, I hang up and call back. Speak to another Match operator after reviewing my recent email from Match "Your subscription is cancelled... you will no longer receive the benefits of Match.com." Then why can I get my $125 back, I already paid for the first 6 months and I'm cancelled/don't get member's use, but still being charged for the second 6 months!? I threaten to call my credit company and report fraud. The operator states, "Please hold, let me see what I can do," they offer half back $73 and that's when I hang up and call Chase. Chase refunds me, reports the problem with Match and blocks them from charging me in the future.
In all, this company will charge you in advance for another 6 months and when you cancel your membership they will not refund you until you threaten fraud. Also, after you cancel they say you still have access to your account for 6 months but it's restricted access, so what was I being charged for!? In addition, it was hard to find the phone number to call a complaint to Match which is 1-800-92-match or 1-800-926-2824 (if you need it!). Also, you need your member ID number which was hard to find! I found it at the bottom of my cancellation email. I don't recommend this company for dating. You're better off using the free dating apps like OkCupid or Tinder - just be honest about your intentions with people. Or better yet, meet people the old-fashioned way, in person!

I cancelled a short membership, and it was auto renewed and I was charged again 3 months later. Called and cancelled again. Then 2 days later got a notification that my trial membership was activated yet again. I did not do this and did ask for this. Now cannot find a phone number to ensure, this gets cancelled and the email address comes back undeliverable. Something needs to be done about Match auto renewing without consumer's consent.

I'd like to express how unprofessional and unhelpful this company has been. I tried canceling my profile two months ago and then a few days ago saw they took out another payment for 6 months after trying to cancel two months prior. After speaking to two reps from the company, they were not able to give me back the refund of $68.50. It had also been pretty clear that I haven't been active on my profile for months and using common sense (which them and their employees seem to lack) it would make sense as to why I tried canceling my profile two months ago. Wouldn't that make sense to anyone with a brain?! Clearly their website or app had a glitch and didn't get the cancel confirmation and now they're making it my problem by not giving me a refund for the 6 mo membership they recharged me for this week.
Does that not make sense to these idiots? Is $70 really that important to them that they cannot give a refund to a loyal customer for years mind you?! Technically they already got me paying for those 4 months when I wasn't even using it, but then they're going to charge me for another 6 months when their website clearly had a glitch when I tried to cancel?! They're not even willing to give $70 measly dollars back to a customer, obviously because $70 is really important to their gigantic company. It's not really about $70, it's the principle of it. Making their website or app glitch their customer's problem and making them pay for it over seventy ** dollars.

My complaint is that their inventory of potential dating possibilities has to be grossly overstated! Why? Because I properly/effectively cancelled my six month membership in January of 2015 and am still getting notifications through them that "this or that woman" is interested in me. This leads me to two possibilities: 1) no women are interested in me, these are only fictitious "teasers" to entice me to rejoin for more $$$, or 2) they have left my photo/profile "up" in their current inventory. If so, some woman, in good faith, is responding to my profile when, in fact, I'm not an active member! Either way, this is way beyond dishonest. It's fraud!

As a guy, maybe you can succeed near big cities. Six months experience with this site. One date, a few phone numbers and lengthy convos. It is very, very, very heavy male-dominated. Women I know who use the site get inundated. The site's main problem is that they simply keep trying to shamelessly con you out of more money. Now I was careless when I signed up. I meant to do one month but I signed up for six. But they made it very easy to make the mistake. Since day one, since I've used the site before, I have gone to "cancel my subscription" in order to prevent auto renewing (which is how they make a killing off you). No less than a dozen times in five months, my account has reactivated so that I would auto renew. I'm not computer illiterate but I prefer to blast through the process of deactivating. They don't make it seamless in order to deter you. And it reactivates on its own.
I've had to deactivate numerous times because it keeps reactivating for no apparent reason. It must be something in the fine print. I continue to use the site and each time I reactivate it gives me a confirmation e-mail and it tells me I can still use it 'til the last paid day. But IT KEEPS REACTIVATING. With no notice. And I keep having to deactivate. The fake profiles are a serious scam that Match must be running to inflate numbers. I know they're fake because my messages to them are never read and there are a number of short two-line quotes in the profiles with stock-pictures of someone moderately attractive. The profiles are active but the messages are never read. I'm ignored plenty, but the messages are basically always marked as read by real profiles. These profiles come and go in your search area and there are a ton of them. There must be some algorithm as when and where to place them.
The site has a chronic shortage of women. I only got 'matches' for about one month. I'll get an e-mail that says "You have 25 new matches." And I'll login and I have one. Most of the time, I have none. If I start a conversation with someone it will make that person my match when the match feature is supposed to be a way of introducing you to someone.
Since it's male-heavy, very few women would want to date a guy 40 miles away. Yet I find myself searching at that distance because week-to-week there's maybe two dozen women active within three weeks within 30 miles of me in a county of 150,000. I live in a rural area, so there aren't a ton of people within 20 miles who are remotely active. Even so, expanding my search to a much larger area there are very few "new" signups from week to week compared to the area and major population centers. If I take a large chunk of the state of Pennsylvania, there are a few dozen a week. No reason to ever sign up for more than a short period of a month or more, if you wanted to try this scam site.

Don't even bother paying the money. Nothing changings when you pay the money, the site is full of pop ads and spam. You can't actually tell if your emails are being read unless you pay an additional $10 a month. Come on. So I am paying money to email someone, who may not be paying money and therefore will never receive my emails. What a waste of time. I am so underwhelmed by Match.com, I am feeling, even more, discourage about my dating prospects and now I am out $65.

Match.com charged me $177.01 Canadian for a 6-month package. They refuse to give me a refund because I didn't cancel my subscription in time to receive a refund (6 days after they took my money). Unfortunately for me, I didn't realize they had taken my money automatically in time. Of course, this is what Match.com relies on so they can refuse to refund members' hard-earned money. They claim this is for OUR convenience (certainly not theirs)! They cover themselves by stating that members agree to the auto renewal as part of their Terms of Use.
Match.com states that if account was auto-renewed, and you have since used your account to send emails, you are ineligible for a refund. This leads one to think that because no emails were sent from your account after auto-renewal, there is possibility of a refund. NO SUCH LUCK! They also continue to say that new members sign up every day, and they are confident that someone special is just waiting to be found. Good luck on that one!
My request to speak with a manager was denied, and here I am, left with a nasty taste in my mouth. I realize the onus was on me to keep track of my account, but I still feel that Match.com knows what they are doing with the auto-renewal in place. An invitation to take our hard-earned money. I am not pleased with Match.com, and I hope by writing this review, it will help customers not to fall into the trap that I did. Be on your guard at all times.

Last month I cancelled my subscription to Match.com, even though it doesn't expire until October - I didn't care because it was a waste of time. Whenever I made a connection, the match's profile strangely enough was "no longer available." So I cancel and the next day I see a charge of $101 on my Visa. I dispute it with the credit card company, thinking it was a simple error and they'd immediately refund my money. Nope. They're fighting it.
I have to FAX more information to my credit card company with the date I cancelled, which is my first clue that these scam artists are going to nitpick, split hairs, and do whatever they can do rob me of my money. I see so many complaints on this site I'm convinced their strategy is to wear people out so they'll give up. But I won't. In fact, I'm ready for a class action lawsuit.

I had asked that this not be renewed and they renewed it anyway. Sarah, employee #**, the third "supervisor" I have talked to continue to state they cannot "find" the previous request thus will only give a "partial" refund of the amount that should not have been charged. I had used the "chat with representative" feature in early June asking that this not be renewed and take the profile down.
My request was ignored. I spent over 90 minutes just today trying to take care of something that I thought had been handled previously. All I got for my efforts were parroted company policy because "no one would pay for this if we offered refunds when you cancel." An update: Jess, employee #** (confirmed) called to enforce that they will not offer a refund. When I asked repeatedly if she was stating that Match "refuses to issue refund stating once it is billed, even when Match was specifically advised NO RENEWAL, refunds will not be given."
Jess refused to acknowledge anything other than "I have already given you the information." I repeatedly asked her to confirm or deny ARE YOU telling me (the above); she repeatedly refused to answer, and hung up on me. Jess can be reached at 1-800-926-2824 (number taken from caller ID, not given by Match representatives). I have contacted the credit company charged requesting assistance with this issue. I feel Match deliberately ignored my request for non-renewal so that I could be charged then refused a full refund.

I signed up for 3 months and experienced "no replies" to my correspondence that reacted to men that winked at me or used other one keystroke connections of interest. Match.com told me that a wink does not mean he's a subscriber so he receives my correspondence but cannot respond to me until he becomes a member. I let my 3-month subscription expire. Now I see, Match put me on auto renewal. I and my credit card rep are disputing this charge with Match. They say their policy puts me automatically on renewal until I officially cancel online. Their auto-renewal does not require an authorization from the subscriber. Instead it's embedded in their policy. Why would any subscriber opt for auto renewal on a 3-month price when match offers a 6-month price for less?
Even though match.com sees I have not been on their site since I let my subscription expire, they tell my credit card rep, they have no way of returning my auto payment. I'm still fighting. Shame on match.com for this underhanded way of income and shame on them for allowing non-subscribers the access to flirt with and receive responses from subscribers. They use our honest, conscientious responses to allure a flirter's subscription.

When I tried to cancel my prepaid account (several months remaining on 6 months) due to medical illness, the site apparently led me down a rabbit trail. I thought the account was cancelled and did not expect to be automatically billed $89 to renew my subscription. On July 5th I was billed the $89 and I immediately contacted the company and told them that I cancelled my membership. They responded that my membership was inactive but not cancelled, and that there was nothing they could do about it except change my membership to a monthly billing and refund $43 of it. I was upset, but agreed that they could refund the $43, however, they haven't done this either after a week. I guess that was just another lie. They have lost a long time paying customer. I had been a paying over for years! I guess that about sums up the whole experience, no relationship... no refund! What a scam!

How nice, you didn't want me to lose my membership benefits for 3 months so you reversed a setting I activated. I went on Match.com in October of 2008. I met my husband November of 2008. He got into a suit of armor and proposed on bended knee on Valentine's Day 2009. We were married in August of 2009. That was seven years ago and we are still happily married! It worked for me! I would recommend that anyone (especially women) go onto the site without doing your own due diligence. I joined Match on July 1st, 2016. Paid $80+ for a 3 month subscription. On July 6th I noticed when I looked at a member's profile, in the capture window below the picture, your picture is supposed to show. In my case my picture was not showing. It was someone else's. If I signed out and signed back in, the pic would change. If I refreshed the screen the pic would change. It never showed my pic. I called and complained. Match said they would take care if it. That afternoon the problem was resolved.
The following morning the site was operating fine. I ran some errands. When I returned and tried to log back in I received a notice from Match stating they had "Blocked" my account and to check my email. When I checked the email, all it stated was, "Please know that due to our Terms of Use, your Match account has been terminated. We believe this action to be in the best interests of our member community." I felt insulted and they were accusing me of doing something immoral? I read their Members Agreement and I had not done anything to violate their list of reasons to term your account.
I responded and asked them what happened. I received no reply. The following day July 8th, I called and stated I wanted to know the specific reason my account was terminated or a refund. I was passed from a Customer Service person to the Resolve department. That person said he could not tell me anything, that I would need to wait for an email from the company which would explain everything. Around 5 PM I received an email from Match stating this: "If you wish to obtain additional information, a valid subpoena, search warrant, or court order directed to Match is required." Of course when I received the email I was amazed! And of course the offices were closed. I will recall them when they are open again but I feel overwhelmed and taken advantage of. Who would go to the cost of an attorney and a subpoena to fight for a little over $80? So Match wins again!!!
Like the rest of the people on this Consumer Affairs board who have been ripped off by Match.com I have to say to anyone reading this... stay away from Match. There are too many reputable online dating sites who aren't as likely to steal your money. To anyone reading this that may have complained here... did you ever get a notification or contact from Consumer Affairs about your complaint? Please let me know. I have a feeling this is another con or a waste of time. And if you're an attorney what would be "our" chances of a class action lawsuit against Match?

This is a PSA. If you are thinking about joining Match.com please read this first. One word. Don't. If you have the SLIGHTEST DOUBT about that word, do the following: Create your free profile. Within 24 hours you will receive more than 20 emails telling you how quickly you were noticed and showing you all the people that are interested in you... and every one of those emails direct you to a membership page where you have to join to read their emails. If you pay attention, and with a little bit of sleuthing, you can at least get the user names of these people that noticed you so quickly. However, you will find that shortly after their initial contact their accounts have gone inactive.
Now, still... before you invest even one cent, wait a few days. This pattern will continue. Many people will keep sending you winks and emails baiting you to pay your money. By day three or four you will have 10-15 email waiting for for you... WOW amazing! OK, now you finally pull the trigger and sign up... and all those wonderful prospects are smoke... maybe one or two was an actual user that has been on and active more than a few days. Oh well, maybe you just were not fast enough to catch them before they got frustrated and left. That has to be it. Right? Ok, more should be coming in any minute... Tick-tock. Tick-tock. Three days and no new mail. Things that make you go "Hmmmm..." I was also a member back when this was a free site. I met wonderful people. Remember that site fondly. In its current form this is a money grab. Nothing more.

I understood Match.com's auto renewal policy. I made sure before signing up I knew exactly how to cancel my subscription. Upon joining the very first thing I made absolutely sure to do was to turn off the automatic auto renewal option. I thought I was good to go with nothing further to worry about. Turns out the auto renewal function was reactivated without my knowledge. The only way I found out was when I woke up to see an email stating I made a payment to Match for the 6-month option. I immediately took action as the transaction had only occurred 2 hours prior. I went on Match and canceled my membership and hid my profile to show I did not plan on using the service any longer. I then opened a dispute of the charge with my payment method which is PayPal.
As other reviewers have stated you have to call for billing disputes. They are offshore agents and are unable to divert from their script, giving the same response after every rebuttal. They offer a partial refund only. So they want to charge me half a 6 mo. subscription of one month of access and even though they ended up deleting my username and profile altogether. Seriously? This is a scam. I know I turned off the auto-renewal. Knowing I wouldn't have to remember and to call after 6 months was the only reason I signed up to being with. Not to mention the site was completely unsuccessful for me and a waste of money to begin with. I don't normally complain or dispute something like this but I am 100% positive I made sure the auto renewal was off. Apparently you need to double, triple and even quadruple check to make sure.

When I joined Match 4 years ago for the 1st time, I had all my hopes set up that I can find the love of my life there, will get happily married and start a family. Instead, apart from having to go through thousands of meaningless profiles that I written with the same generic self-description and stated desires "to hang out and see what happens", I was getting discouraged every time and canceling my subscription. After some period of time I was getting back to my search on Match hoping to find my soulmate. And when I tried to cancel recently my subscription when I accidentally saw an automatic charge from Match of $60 on my credit card, I got upset because I already wasn't using it previously for months even though I paid to keep my subscription going just in case if I will want to continue with my search.
I contacted Match over the phone and got a refusal from automated system. Then when I got an actual person on the phone, she like a robot told me that under my circumstances I am not eligible for a refund and the best she could do is just to cancel my subscription so moving forward, in 3 months I won't get charged again. And I said "is that's all??? What about refund? You just charged me few days ago, and I would like to cancel subscription and to get a refund." On what she read her script to me like a train robot about that refund cannot be done. Then I said that I had to dispute this transaction with my bank in this case. And when I did, I saw the money was credited in full amount to my credit card by Match, however, after that I could not log in to my account.
When I attempted to access it to make sure they cancelled my subscription, I couldn't get in. The computer was showing me a red message: "Access to your account has been blocked by Match.com. Please check your email inbox for a notification from us for more information. If you did not receive a notice, please contact resolutions@support.match.com". So they entirely blocked my access to my Match account, without prior notice as they stated that they did!!! I e-mailed them to the e-mail address provided to seek explanations and to see if even though I asked for a fair thing, for a refund, is that's necessary to block my account and how to understand it overall?!
I also stated that even though I requested a refund, I should be able to subscribe again at any later time if and when necessary, on what I did not receive any response!!! I have had bad service in the past. But this goes beyond ridiculous!!! I want to share this experience with other people and warn them what they are to face with Match if joined.

Match is one of the MOST unethical, money-hungry companies I have ever had the displeasure of using. While I have no problem saying that their site DOES work in terms of providing you with lots of potential mates (I have met great people through there), it does not change the fact that they have TERRIBLE renewal/subscription policies, and very bad customer service.
Warning - Match does NOT alert you prior to billing you when your account is set to renew (which you have to sign up for auto-renewal if you want a deep discount upon registering), therefore almost guaranteeing that many of its users who have long since stopped using the site, will forget to cancel the membership. Lo and behold you will find a credit charge for the renewal.
Then when you call in to get your refund, patiently explaining OVER AND OVER that you haven't used the site in 2+ months, they will explain that there are absolutely no full refunds, no matter that you're calling within 48 hrs of the renewal charge. The very best, the absolute most their "system" can offer, is 1/3 of the $75 renewal fee. Upon asking to speak with a manager, their customer service agent again, repeatedly throws the company policy book in your face, telling you that any other agent will tell you the same thing. Apparently, Match doesn't have managers.
All they really have are trained human robots who refuse to accede that you are a human being who sometimes forgets things... Especially since Match refuses to remind you before they bill you. So, lesson learned - if you use Match, MAKE SURE that you don't fall victim to their "bread-and-butter" money-making schemes, and cancel quickly.

I was not interested and surprised with the charge. They are just insisting that no refund; not even giving another options (yes the moment I am writing this I am still waiting to talk to any supervisors/managers). Even if you made a purchase by mistake in any stores they would do their best to keep the customer happy. NOT with Match.com. They steal my money. I regret I visited their site. My suggestion, don't ever ever try to sign up and pay unless you could not find any trustworthy online dating sites. If I could I would not even give 1 star. I decided to try to find a wife for my son on Match. On the first day, I got notice of a 'favorite' who then disappeared. It repeatedly put a checkmark next to ones that I kept closing. (Like smokers!) I emailed 7 of the best ones. A few checked his page. Two more profiles became "Unavailable." One who seemed like a real woman favorited him. I was upfront with them that I was the mom and told them how kind and considerate he is. (One of the profiles they kept sending us was a man, BTW.)
Day 2, I got an email that the account had been terminated! When I asked why, they told me to take a long walk off a short pier. (Get a subpoena,**.) I tried to be lighthearted in the emails. I have a form of autism and may have upset some fainting flower feminist. But I MUST find out why! I read the TOS and violated nothing there. They advertised that the events were 60% female. I believe that. Those whack jobs ran all the men off the site! I'm not worried about getting my money back because I canceled at the CC company the second day. The only reason I tried them was they had a special affiliation with Mensa. You can be sure I'll be informing Mensa about these crooks.

After two 45 minute phone calls discussing their terms and how being dishonest with membership agreements breaches their terms, they claimed that my account is now deactivated and will no longer be charged but refuse to refund me the additional month when I wasn't even able to access the site and no services were received anyway. Match.com has a deceptive business practice of not warning customers when their subscriptions are up for auto-renewal. I had no intention of renewing my subscription at the end of my initial paid period, but they did not give me any notice that the period of coming to an end. The only indication I received was when I saw the renewal charge of $97.95 appear in my PayPal account today. I immediately cancelled my subscription when I saw it this morning and then called Match.com's Customer Service (which number was not easily discoverable on their site... had to Google it) when the Customer Service hours opened. I explained that I did not intend to renew my subscription and that I wanted a full refund. They resorted to tell me that I was bound to pay for the fee due to some section of the user agreement that I signed when I registered.
I told them that that was bogus and a terrible business practice to resort to the legalese and to not give users courtesy warnings of impending renewal fees. The rep offered to refund me only $34.85. I was outraged at that, so I asked to speak to a manager. I was told that the manager was not available but would call me in an hour. The manager never called in an hour, so I called back and was told that the manager was in a managers meeting. I sensed at that point that I was getting the run around. I then called back a third time and was addressed quite rudely and was told that I would not get any refund and would not be able to speak to a manager- that that rep was the final person whom I could speak to.
I then countered and said that I was offered an initial partial refund. The rep reluctantly gave it to me, but I am furious overall at the underhanded way that Match.com extorts funds from its customers by intentionally hiding information from its users that would help the users to make more informed buying decisions. Terrible business!!! I will never use this service again.

Scam. Fraud. Sneaky. Everyone who has reviewed before me is spot on with Match.com and its HORRIBLE service. Match.com should be avoided at ALL costs (literally and figuratively). Try Hinge, Bumble, OKcupid, or even Tinder - ANYTHING but this service. Here's my experience: I cancelled this subscription at least 2 months ago and deleted my entire account (or so I thought). I was extremely upset to find out today that I was still charged $60 for an account that I haven't used for at least 3 or 4 months. Then I was told by the customer service rep that I was only going to be refunded about 30% of the subscription fee - which again, I DID cancel several months ago. But since I don't have a cancellation confirmation in my e-mail, it didn't count. It's sort of funny that I couldn't even sign into my account if I tried, because it's deleted, yet I'm supposed to log on in order to cancel it? This doesn't make sense to me.
It's very smart the way this business is run. Make it extremely hard to cancel a subscription: making your customers go through the online prompts to cancel your services online, but it not counting because you didn't receive a confirmation e-mail. THEN you have to call once you've already been charged - when it's too late - and you're only refunded 30%. I would have called a long time ago had I known I would end up in this debacle. I will never endorse this company and its business ethics. I am extremely unimpressed and disappointed with Match.com's business tactics. AVOID!!!

Just like most of the reviews I have read already, I am completely discouraged about meeting singles online. First of all, either someone or Match.com was changing my gender status from female to male or they would make it look like I was a lesbian. I'm not either type of that kind of a woman. I am a female and heterosexual. Next, I have met several men on dates and talked to many guys. I'm very physically pretty/attractive person. I'm well educated and a smart gal. However, I have met men who perhaps are single and who are who they say they are; live where they say they live; and do whatever they say is their occupation. Unfortunately, it appears that they are all on there to use women for sexual conquests as well as exploit women for those conquests.
They say that they're looking for a "relationship " when it's just a lie. It's even more disheartening when a woman meets one after the other guy like that. It's very hurtful and makes me feel and learn to really hate men. These guys obviously don't have much intelligence or enough to do with their free time. Furthermore, it's an expense on me which isn't paying off. I think like many date sites, it's a ripoff because they intentionally hook women up with these long term losers who have been online for probably years and years instead of matching people who are better matches. Something is wrong with their algorithms! I think it's a scam. I will attempt to not renew my account with them. No warning I will about to be billed, and they force you to agree to auto-renewal as a default to even be able to sign up. Common sense and ethics would dictate you should at least be able to reverse the charge if you cancel within a few days after being charged because who is going to remember a year plus later they signed up for auto renewal that long ago?
So I call customer service and offer to issue me a partial refund, half my money back. Weeks later of course I notice no money back in my account. So I call again and they give me some nonsense about PayPal not allowing the transaction and there were “multiple failed attempts” to refund the money. Naturally I call PayPal and discover there were never any attempts to refund my money. Do NOT give these crooks your money. You will get nothing for it and will just end up getting ripped off. Also when I posted this on their Facebook page, instead of ADDRESSING it by replying they repeatedly took it down. So much for free speech.

After wasting my time with free online dating sites, I decided to try a paid website to see if it would be much different. Sadly there are only 2 major online dating companies to choose between, so the choice for which to try was minimal. I ended up choosing Match.com as they offered a reasonable price. Now before I paid for a subscription, I spent about a week seeing what kind of women were using Match.com. During this time, I was getting a ton of email from women who apparently liked or favourited me. However, after subscribing, the number of such emails I received dropped to zero. I found the reason for this, and it’s because in the daily match results, only 1 out of 12 users is a subscriber (I watched this happen for the last 10 days). Seems the daily match results are setup to maximize sending new users lots of emails. But once you're a member, you need to pay extra to get into these daily match results.
Another big problem, is that only 56 woman in my current top 200 "Mutual Matches” are similarly subscribed to Match. The problem with this, is that only people with a subscription can send or reply to messages. In essence what this means, is that I can only realistically message ~25% of my matches, as it would be an even higher chance of the woman not replying if she’s not even a member. Sure, you can pay extra to allow a non-subscriber to reply, but all this means is that Match guarantees getting money for both parties no matter what. Love is hard to find, but Match will just waste your time and money, avoid them if you can.

The site is terribly set up. The men who are commonly reviewing my profile are upwards of 15-20 years older than me and trying to contact me. I have asked that my match be single never married, without kids, have a Bachelors degree or higher, etc. and am getting ANYTHING but those for matches. I have met a few men in person and those men turned out to be lying somewhere in their profiles and luckily used our coffee date to tell me what they were lying about. I had the site open for 9 months and received nothing but annoying emails from people who didn't match my criteria at all.
I have closed the account due to the number of men that I've contacted (over 200+) who did meet 8 or 9 out of 10 criteria not responding. I have received emails back from 6 out of the 200+ I contacted in my local area. Many of the matches who were trying to contact me were sob stories or people with drug addictions, prison records, no jobs, hadn't finished college, etc. I would email them back and get these sob stories. I would then block them. The site is a big BIG waste of time and money.

A warning to all women who go online to Match.com. Manuel **. I was scammed by this man who was a fake, his location or name could not be found anywhere and when I checked his phone numbers and any contact information I had for him, I couldn't find him - his information to me was all fake. His photos that he sends to you are photoshopped and he even sent me a bank account statement from Bank of America to show me his "worth" that was totally fake $30,000,000.00!
After 3 weeks of phone and text conversations he finally asked me for money. He lied about an international business that he had that but all of he sudden he was stuck in Estonia and broke and he needed $75,000.00. His business seems legitimate with his photograph on the website and detailed information describing his business. If you call the phone number for the business his voice is one the answering machine and it is never picked up by anyone else. He comes on charming and within a week of communication he has "fallen in love" with you without even meeting you! This a warning of a scammer on Match.com and I have had 2 other contacts by men with similar scam material.

Match.com throws B.S. hooks out (winks, "He's interested" emails, etc.). These guys do not exist. I have had winks returned from hot guys that have not registered as even "Viewing" my profile. I also have received winks from guys that were on Match 2 years ago. (Yes, I was on Match a few years ago for a brief period of time.) It was the exact same profile, as before, it was as if this guy was frozen for years. All this guy does is wink. He has winked at my individual pics, he does not respond to my emails. I am super hot so this guy has to be either unaware that he has a floating profile on Match.com, or he must be dead. Beware of fake profiles and "AUTO-WINKS".

I have been off and on Match.com for years. My account was hacked for the second time last night. This time, even though I saw it and changed the password, it was not quick enough, and the hacker directed emails to another account leaving me powerless to get my profile back. This was on a Sunday. Other than Mon-Fri 8-5, there is no customer service, online or phone call available. Their phone recording tells you to call back due to high traffic, and when you are connected, you get a foreigner with no customer service training or information. I just spent two hours on the phone and online chat and they shut my account down as directed, but I am not able to verify any information. I feel like my reputation, image and self-respect are gone.
The person was able to email potential dates under my screen name and now I have to live with that... I had no power to shut it down, and the worst part, is that I verified all my social media to the account as well. It is not acceptable for other online businesses to operate without 24 hour customer support, and here, where a reputation is at stake, this is unacceptable. Although my subscription goes for another 2 months, they would not refund my money due to what happened, and offered no other satisfaction. I would not advise signing up for Match.com until they resolve customer service, and certainly not link it to any other personal information or social media. This has been an awful experience. Hardly anyone "liked" my profile or interacted with me in any other way over a period of weeks.
OkCupid's FREE account, on the other hand, was full of conversation. Guys reached out to me and I reached out to guys (who responded) at a rate that significantly exceeded that of Match.com. I met my current boyfriend on OkCupid through this method and would highly recommend it to anyone. To make matters worse, Match.com auto-renews! If I could go without any stars I would. Match commercials are fake (only using actresses and no real people). Match services are fake, and the one person that spoke to me was an identity thief. I have been a member of Match not once but twice. The first experience when I was in Arizona was that I kept getting fake winks or likes from people that either had no account or closed accounts. But after the whole Match happenings, I gave them another chance here in Nashville.
Well, the Match events was a person meeting you at the door, saying hello and leaving you to your own in a bar. No way of knowing if anyone from Match even showed up. I only stayed because I met folks from Meetup there and hung out with them. Once again I had the SAME experience of getting activity from people that do not exist or accounts closed. This is their way of getting people to pay them money. "Oh a cute woman likes me, but I cannot read what she wrote, so I'll become a member and see what she says". What happens next is a) they get money, b) the message was a single line and finally c) she never responds to my messages to her (if the account even exists). Lately most were closed accounts and the message says "sorry that person no longer exists or moved on." DO NOT USE.

Even if I responded immediately, his profile was blocked so I couldn't reply back. If I wanted to reply to an e-mail from a subscriber, Match had a "make certain they receive your e-mail" icon next to the send button. You had to pay an extra $30 to ensure the e-mail was sent. E-mails were a part of the subscription as communication which I had already paid for.
When I contacted Match via chat online, (they don't have a direct contact number) they said the men were probably not subscribers and only they were allowed to contact me. When you sign up, you sign up for auto renew also. Your card will be charged at the end of the period for another period of the same length at the same rate. You can't turn off auto renew -- even though they give you the option on their site. Turning auto-renew off means nothing - they will still charge you. Cancelling your membership does not stop auto renewal! There is NO chance of refund and NO ONE with authority at Match will speak to you. Your hard earned money will be gone. Your only option is to cancel future payments through your credit card.
I paid with PayPal and it was easy to cancel future payments to Match. I found the unapproved charge from Match on a routine check of my bank statement... 2 weeks after payment. I hid my profile 3 months earlier and had not used Match since. Still they renewed me for another 3 months without notice and even though I'd stopped auto-renew using their site option. Know that Match just wants your money... however they can get it. Their ethics are nonexistent, even criminal. Many have complained to no avail. Just Google it and you'll see 1000s of unsatisfied Match members/former members.

So I originally contacted their customer service to dispute a renewal on my account that should not have taken place. I went through their cancellation process a couple months ago before my 6-month subscription ended, but randomly saw a pending transaction coming from Match.com on my credit card transactions that I check twice daily. So I contacted customer service through their chat system to speak with a rep, and it started as the normal, "let me look that up for you" type of thing. I stated that I needed the renewal to be reversed as it should never have happened, and Shaina (the customer service rep) said to give her a moment while she pulls up the report, and while she does that, if I could give her a statement of how my experience has been on Match.com.
So I started typing up my little response of my experience, which was honestly not great at all compared to other dating websites. It was more deteriorating than talking to people in public. As I'm typing this answer that I've already stated in their account cancellation process, Shaina disconnects and it looks like an automated closing message of "If there's nothing else I can help you with, have a nice day" type of thing. I've had many run-ins with the chat support of other companies and services, and every single one ask, "Is there anything else I can assist you with today?" and if I take a little long to reply, they ask if I'm still there.

There is about 10% of the site that are legit and 90% that is scammers. The worst of which is Match itself. First, if you try one of their "trial" services you will be tricked by their email notifications that someone is interested in you (a "wink" or a "favorite"). When you sign up to communicate, you will find that those profiles have been deleted or are from people out of state. You will also see this same pattern when your time to renew has expired. It is organizational phishing. Many of the "real" profiles are phone sex line adverts. One of which stole/used a facebook photo of a friend of mine from out of state for their profile. If you sign up for the service, you will be completely bombarded with emails from these profiles, particularly in the beginning. In three months, I met one actual person.
Their auto-renew feature is also incredibly deceptive. Just turning auto-renew off means nothing - they will still charge you. And there is NO chance of refund no matter who you speak to. There is no way to talk around it, reason with them, etc... Your money is just GONE. I am certain that class action lawsuit is on the horizon for Match. While they may be able to get around their auto-renewal "contract", they use fake profiles, or at the very least tolerate them, in order to deceive people into paying for a subscription.

I was looking at my credit card statement a couple of days ago, to see something on it I didn't understand. The only reason I picked it up is because I am trying to pay off the card, and knew that I hadn't spent any money on it the past month, so I got ahold of my bank and asked them about it. They told me it was from Match.com and advised me to call them and put a stop to it so I did. They refunded me the $165.64 Canadian that they had just charged me. I asked when else I was charged, the woman said on Sept 2nd 2014 that I had been charged $89.96 USD, and then on March 5th 2015 another $119.94 USD, and then again on Sept 4th 2015 another $119.94 USD. I asked "But why then would they keep renewing this without contacting me?"
As in the beginning I signed up for a 5 day trial. She got ignorant and started shouting at me, and I told her if I didn't hear from her supervisor in the next 24 hours that I was going to find a place to complain about it, so I did. Watch out with this site. I never got no renewal notices, signed up for a 5 day trial, would not have picked up the charge if I wasn't trying to pay off the card, and watching. BEWARE OF THIS SITE: Match.com. dating site.

Back in February 2015, I decided to try online dating and signed up for a 6-month subscription with Match.com. The only type of men that were contacting me were men that were using the site for hooking up. After a few months of this, I decided that online dating was not for me. I contacted Match.com June 2015 and told them I wanted to cancel my subscription because online dating was just not for me. I was assured by the representative that the subscription was cancelled and not other charges would be charged to my account. I thought my horror ended there.
In August 2015, I received a charge of $119.94 on my credit card statement. There was no activity on my Match.com account so I was shocked. I contacted Match.com again and asked them how could they charge my credit card when I cancelled and there was activity on the account. The representative was rude and said that they could not authorize a refund. I asked why and he stated because of the activity. I told him that wasn't true because I had never logged into the account so there couldn't be activity. I asked to speak to a supervisor at that point.
The representative told me that there was no supervisor available and if he was available that he would just tell me the same thing. I asked if I could hold for the supervisor and representative put me on hold for 20 minutes and then came back on and said the supervisor said that there is nothing he can do. I asked why couldn't I speak to the supervisor and again I was told he wasn't available. The representative took my number down and said the supervisor will call me back. Well, I never heard back from the supervisor.
At this point I just decided to contact my credit card company and dispute the charges. I thought everything was good at this point. Until, February 2016 When Match.com charged another $119.94 to the same credit card. So this time I logged in and tried to find another number to contact than the one on my credit card statement. I called again, this time I was smart enough to get the representative's name. I explained my story again and how I had canceled the account back in June 015 to Churchhill ID# ** if he was telling the truth. He placed me on hold for 10 minutes and came back and told me that he cancelled my subscription and I would not get any more charges. I asked to have this in writing as I have been told this before. He told me he could not give it to me in writing. I asked and he said Match.com doesn't allow it. Then I told him I didn't want just a cancellation but I wanted a refund as well since I was not using the account.
Just like the previous representative he put me on hold and came back and advised that he was not authorized to give me credit because I logged in. I explained that I logged in to see if I could find a different phone number to contact. Again I asked to speak to a supervisor and again I was told one was not available and he would tell me the exact same thing that I can't have a refund. I explained to the representative that it was poor customer service and they should allow me to speak to a supervisor to get a refund. Again, I was told that the supervisor can't do anything and will tell me the same thing. Then Churchhill hung up on me.
Once again I had to call my credit card company to make a dispute and change my credit card number to prevent them from being able to charge my card again. This is the worst call center I have ever had to deal with and would never recommend anyone to use Match.com if you don't want unauthorized charges and have to deal with poor business practices.

Unlike other sites like POF.com and OKCupid.com that offer real trials, Match.com gives you a trial where most of the function don't work. Complaints to the company fall on deaf and sarcastic ears. Worse may be that their current paying customers are sending messages and requests (27 in my case) that go unanswered. How must they feel? Are they not being ripped off as well? Match.com is another false advertisement of honest trial vs bait and switch.

I've never given them any of my financial details, I suspect that they gained my financial details through the other dating sites they own. If you want to join this site I STRONGLY suggest you only use a debit card and then cancel the card because they will automatically renew your subscription without your consent. Now as for Match.Com I give it a big ZERO. It's full of scammers and not many REAL profiles on it. As for me I'll tell you not to even join it. It's a SCAM.

Wow. I honestly cannot believe the letter I just got in the mail of Match.com rebutting my dispute claim to my credit card company. The "evidence" of their rebuttal was that I had "logged into Match.com 374 times in the past 6 months" when 373 of those times was during my initial 3 months that I agreed to! The 1 time I logged in after my unapproved second charge was because I was in shock that my account was still activated after de-activating it, so I went back in to cancel it for good this time. (Or so I thought I had deactivated it. Apparently, I did it wrong the first time.) Match has no sympathy for their customers or their mistakes in canceling. Their letter to my credit card company was humiliating and defamatory of my name. They know that I did not actually "use their services" after attempting to cancel. I simply logged in to CANCEL it! That does not count as "using their services"!
They also listed the fact that I used "the same card initially" when signing up with the service. Of course I did! Because I initially did want to use Match.com, and then realized it wasn't working for me so tried to cancel. They simply do not care. Any reputable company would credit me back my $80 after realizing my story and my simple mistake that many can accidentally make. If their services are so "good", they wouldn't need to nickel and dime their customers. Shame on Match.com for taking advantage of lonely, single people. Shame. What a crock.

Because of their sheer grit on the dating market, I (like most) signed up for their service. When you go through the sign up, it eventually takes you to the page for the length of your subscription. It automatically recommends the minimum of a 6-month subscription and offers their 'Guarantee' for this length of signing up, which I later learned why they push this and it ties into the Auto Renewals laws for the state of Texas.
It's important to note that as you sign up, there is NO option to opt for (or against) 'Auto Renewal' (another part of that TX law). As I felt it best if I found what could turn out to be the right person, I chose 3 times during my 6-month subscription to turn off my profile and give 'love' the proper chance it deserves to get started. I turned off my profile to put my focus on one woman and then noticed a charge of $71.97 to my card. When I spoke to their cust service, I was told they would 'only' offer a partial credit. I told them my profile was off, but they insisted that it was something I agreed to when I signed up. I then contacted my credit card and they reversed the full charge.
I couldn't help but wonder why a company that's in business to help build new families would have a practice of 'stiffing' the public to line their own pockets on renewals. Was I ever surprised to find that they chose Texas as their base of operations simply to take advantage of the unsuspecting public. Texas is one of the select states that this law works in the advantage of the seller, and NOT the consumer. Their law specifically states that ONLY contracts of 6-months (or longer) can include Auto Renewals and does NOT include (as almost every other state does) that the seller MUST give the option to the buyer to choose Auto Renewal or no Auto Renewal.
Now do you see why Match came up with their touted 6-Month Guarantee and pushes it upon signing up? In fact, I went back online to sign up under a different email address and user name (as they've permanently blocked me from their site once I disputed their charge) and specifically chose the 3-month subscription (although the bigger discount was given 6 month and one year) and got all the way to clicking on 'Submit' and then one final screen came up offering the 6-month subscription again and an even lower price. I think the public needs to boycott Match.com and force new management into key positions. Think about it... we all know they have well over 1 million subscribers and absolutely none of them have the option to NOT be automatically charged for renewals at $71 a pop. That's an additional $71,000,000 EVERY 6 MONTHS!

I ordered and paid for a single, three-month subscription to this service. I used it lightly for one month and was extremely disappointed with the process and the caliber of people I found. I stopped using the service when I discovered Plenty of Fish. PoF had a much better system and more interesting people. I closed out my MATCH.COM profile by erasing my data and cancelling my membership. It didn't matter that I had taken these steps. MATCH.COM proceeded to take another 3-month subscription fee from my account without my permission.
I called and asked for a refund and I was told I would get a partial refund of one month's fee. I said that would not be acceptable and that I wanted to speak to a supervisor since I was given NO explanation for two months of charges when 3 months was taken from my account. I was told someone would be in touch by phone in 24-48 hours.
I waited 72 hours and called back. I was told a supervisor had called but the line was busy. No such call took place! I again asked for a call from or to speak directly to a Supervisor. I was told someone would call in 24-48 hours to discuss the matter. I waited 3 days and no call was forthcoming from MATCH.COM. I called again and asked for a refund. I was told I could not speak to a Supervisor - that one month of fees would be refunded and when I asked for an explanation of the charges, the CS Rep hung up the line and disconnected the call.
I see now that this is a chronic problem with this company. I would like to suggest a formal class action appeal be made to CONSUMER AFFAIRS to contact MATCH.COM and ask for this matter to be resolved by the company. They should not be allowed to steal people's money consistently like this and offer no redress to their (EX) customers in such matters.
FYI - Plenty of Fish states up front they WILL NOT presume to take fees without your express permission. I call upon Consumer Affairs to contact MATCH.COM to obtain a formal resolution to this outrageous business behavior and to stop MATCH.COM from repeating this practice with unsuspecting customers.

Very annoying those stupid pop ups, with them begging for more money, so you can have better service with to get more dates. It expired on 3/16 and the product blocked access from email, photos were blurry, etc. A week later they took another 3 month subscription then turned it back on. I didn't assume I had to worry about auto renew because they didn't give me access unless I provided a credit card after the fact. This indeed made me think it was over! It's misleading and feels very methodical.
The Customer service supervisor, (Sarah, badge #**) said that what I told her wasn't what happened. WHAT?! She implied I lied, and that her computer can't verify if that was the case. She then said, "thank you, can I help you with anything else?" I laughed!! "You steal my money without my knowledge and then thank me." At least she was polite! LOL!! Here is my last point: They gave me 28 of 65$ that's an admission to fault. Although at least trying to accommodate, don't do it "half-assed". Two phone calls to the number go to voicemail only. Nobody answers.
Messages sent by either email or text message saw a couple of fairly innocuous replies talking about what was wanted from a relationship, and my replies and suggestions were, for the most part, unanswered, as were text messages. The 'person' at the other end seemed totally incapable of starting any kind of real conversation.
The profile photo was ok, but the others sent to me showed a stunning woman by any account, and hardly of somebody purporting to be 54 years old. I found out quite early on that profiles disappear quickly after the 'wink' stage, and the official line for this is that the person has found a partner and disabled the profile. I would like to warn people about the "automatic renewal" sales model they employ. You can choose to sign up for 6 months, a year, etc, but you will continue to be charged until they cancel your account which to me is not actually a "6 month" or "year subscription". You cannot get a refund so you must have them cancel your account. You can call their tech support number and after spending 15 minutes on hold, a nice person from a foreign country will indeed assist you in cancellation, however, if they fail to cancel your account correctly, you won't actually know this until the charge hits your card and again, you will likely not get a refund. On my third time around with this company I received very little emails or interest in my profile. As soon as my membership expired I started receiving emails just about every day. Well, obviously I could not respond without re-subscribing and since this was my third time around, I knew better. This company is a scam. I am not saying you cannot meet people here but I am saying as soon as you cancel they will start sending you emails from potential matches whereas you didn't receive any before. Bogus.

Clicked the button. To see that was a BIG GIMMICK and the website charged me $71.97 and $36.99 paying me up for 6 months! And then saying they would charge me again for $36. Had to call in 3x and pitch a HUGE fit to get treated right. I thought I could use the service until the subscription ended then it wouldn't allow it anymore. But no, it renewed today and when I tried to get it refunded they said no because I sent an email at 12:30 am (pacific time) and that is in the new month. I understand my refund request was denied. I'm not happy about it but I understand that you have your stupid little tricks to get people's money. But I do not appreciate the agent hanging up when I asked her to hold for a moment while I answered a question for a coworker. I had my phone on speaker and mute. She didn't ask if I was still there or say hello or anything. She just released the call. Forcing me to call back.
I had her hold for maybe 30-45 seconds before she hung up. How long has customers been put on hold for and are expected to wait patiently. I am so thoroughly disgusted by this whole situation that I had the agent the assisted me when I called back delete my account and everything attached to it. I will also be deleting my account from your sister site. I will never give this company another cent of my money. You are probably happy because you already have my money for the next 30 that I will not be using. I signed up for 3 months on auto renewal. I set a reminder to cancel on the 27th. I had already cancelled my membership on the 19th. I woke up this morning to another $73 charge. When I called they confirmed I had not logged on since the 19th. They said "cancelling your account does not cancel the auto renewal." They said they have a no refund policy and all they could do is change it to a one month subscription and refund me $21. I asked for a supervisor who kept repeating they have a no refund policy and that had I gone to the website. On the help section it explained how to cancel the auto renewal.
When I told him I was on the app and it didn't direct me to the website he said "you agreed to the terms". He repeated that over and over again to every question I asked. When I asked for his supervisor I was refused and told that corporate doesn't have a number and they don't speak to customers. I was only given a PO Box address. Worst experience and worst customer service! I work in customer service and I break policy when I know the company I work for is in the wrong. They are very apathetic and unethical. I was told that they had a strict no refund policy and the customer service employee would not transfer me to a manager. This is very frustrating and feels like a complete waste of money.

I have been with this site for more than a year and I haven't found one genuine woman since I joined. Most will have hidden profiles, meaning they don't have profile pictures and most times their profiles aren't available for viewing. It says "Oops, the profile you are viewing is not available this time." You are directed to other non-genuine profiles and noticeably most women will admit in their chats they don't come online here often and would request to chat on yahoo messenger.
There are so many women who only like pictures and won't respond. Yet there are so many women from one locations like Abbottsford, Agnes, and there are so many profiles of women from a place called Adavale. I did a Google search and found the entire population of remote country town of Adavale is only 17 people. Shocking. Most women have one parent in Ghana and the other dead. Shocking. What's going on here? They all want to tell you this story on Yahoo. Haha. I suppose this site is free for females that's why they are wasting their and other time here.

I agreed to a 3 month subscription when I joined the Match.com date site. I selected the option for a ONE TIME charge to my credit card. During the 3 months, my experience on Match.com was not a good one, as I was stalked and harassed by very odd characters. I removed my profile and picture from the site and stopped logging in several weeks prior to the expiration of my membership. I had no intention of renewing the membership at the end of the 3-month period and did not renew. I assumed that my membership would just stop. However, recently I was informed by my credit card company that I had been billed a second time for an additional 3 months (without my permission).
When I contacted Match.com to let them know of the mistake and my bad experience, I was informed that it is assumed if I do not "cancel" my membership, Match.com may automatically charge my credit card again. Since it had only been a few days since the membership was renewed by Match.com in error, I asked for a refund as I have not been active on the site in quite some time and have absolutely no interest in pursuing the activity. I was told "Sorry but it's your problem..." This did not stop him. He continued. I finally asked him when he was going to ask me for money for his trip back from Melbourne where he purportedly was working and was getting ready to go home from. He said he was an oil driller and engineer and was bringing his oil to port.
I asked too, if he was going to ask me for money for "taxes" to get his oil to port. He was stunned! Not to mention his last letter was signed "James" not "Craig" which was the name he had been using. He then quickly blocked me with his final words being that why was he wasting his time sitting on his ass writing me when I didn't even trust him. Boom, I had pulled the blanket off his charade! I just wonder how many other victims of his LOVE charade have fallen for his game. There must be a way these dating sites can better vet these clowns. After 3 weeks on Match I started to talk to a member that shortly, thereafter, said to have canceled his membership. We spoke for 4 months after this, only to find out he was a scammer. I have hired a private PI and was compelled to ask Match for help but in their terms they state not to be liable for the conduct of those that sign up on their site. I wanted to ask for any information to help crack down this case and put this individual behind bars but their terms says it all.
I understand there have been many who have been scammed by individuals that have signed up on Match and have posed to be someone they are not and there has been no recourse in bringing these people to justice and no help by Match. This is a site that should help bring people together. It is a site that claims to have a very high success rate in couples and marriages; they claim to be the number one online dating site but they fail to mention the amount of impostures that have ruined the lives of many of their honest members and the fact that they do not care as long as we pay our membership fee all is well. I, personally, did not pay to be scammed; I paid hoping to make new friends and find a significant other. If Match allows scammers to become their members they should be held accountable. Their site is not safe and it should be shut down for good.

Like other users have discovered, match.com seems to make a lot of money through their auto-renewal scam. Your account profile does not show any kind of auto-renewal date. Nor are you sent any kind of email or notification that auto-renewal is about to occur. The only notification is when you get your credit card bill in the mail after the fact. Then when you call or chat with customer service all they say is, "Didn't you read the terms of service when you signed up?" So, now for a service that I haven't used in 4 months, I've been charged another $131 USD to my credit card for another 6 months of service that I DON'T WANT. I absolutely did not want the renewal and it had only been within 24 hours of the renewal, and because I sent one last email to someone saying I was going to cancel it and gave my phone number, they absolutely wouldn't do it because I used the service. It was literally one email. Can I just pay for that one email instead of a whole 3 month subscription then? I was hoping they'd make an exception considering it was still within 24 hours of the renewal, but they absolutely wouldn't. It's literally $60, I don't see why that is so hard for them to do. My issues echo other negative reviews. I received more scammers than legitimate interest. However, according to the Terms of Service, if you meet someone on Match.com or elsewhere, you can't communicate with other members. Granted, it's in their ToS. Here's what happened to me. I wasn't cheating on my girlfriend or wife. I received message from a woman. I politely informed her that, "I'm in a relationship. I'm flattered though. I wish you well in your romantic pursuits."
Match customer support emailed me to verify my relationship status. I was puzzled and asked why I received this email. They told me Match was only for single people. I told them I was dating a woman. The representative suggested I hide my profile. Again, this was suggested. I requested clarification if this was a requirement if you meet someone. Customer service stated that this was a requirement; not a suggestion. Thus, you must ignore messages of interest or lie to them about your availability. Match.com has never heard of dating more than one person. No wonder members complain about male members lying and cheating. The Terms of Service require you to be misleading.
I had already stopped the auto-renewal because of stories about Match's fraudulent renewal charges. I requested they delete my account. It was no longer needed and prepaid. Do not use any dating sites that require a paid membership. I met my girlfriend on OkCupid for FREE. You have the same issues with bogus profiles and scammers there too, but it's free. From my experience, the more expensive a dating site, the less responses I received. This isn't a plug for OkCupid, but they don't have a problem with politely informing someone you're in a relationship. Ironically, informing a Match.com member that you met someone would be in the site's interest. The person showing interest would see that other members had success on the site meeting a significant other. I recommend using free dating sites if you want to meet people online.

This site has been a complete waste of time for me including the actual users of the site. But that hasn't got anything to do with the website so I will be fair and judge Match.com as a website alone (mainly) continual crashes, outages and downtime. Not what I expect from a paid site when sometimes you can't access the site as it's not working. They are also very sneaky when it comes to payments to the point where I accidentally paid for a service I didn't require and I asked to get my money back and they ignored my message. I am not sure what happens with some profile views as they either seemed to be delayed as I was getting people viewing me at 4 am and people I least expected to and also I am getting emails sent to be about views then I looked and they aren't even on my viewed me list.
As for the general experience of the users: Time wasters. The amount of times I've given my number out to someone who seemed keen and they don't bother getting in touch was shockingly bad. I have also experienced a fair bit of judgmental people including one who didn't want to talk to me because I ride a motorcycle. You're honestly better off chancing it and saving money and using a free dating site. Usually the same people and you don't have to fork out money. Oh and also they are more reliable and don't go offline for hours at a time.

Match.com is a website that is totally not worthy of your time and money. First, there is a great chance to meet a lot of weirdos there. All people I talked to or met have decent profiles, nevertheless, my personal encounters include people like a creepy divorcee who cursed you on a date, an ugly guy that asked you to show up in high heels and tight club dress on a first date, a guy asked you to be his girlfriend one day and bailed out the next day and so on... It is a totally distort of a real world (or maybe it is a reflection?).
If you are like me who is to look for a trustworthy partner for life, I wouldn't suggest this website. Previously, I thought I paid to meet decent potential partners, but later on I've found there was more risk than reward for a woman to meet a man there. I used to report a user who abused me verbally on the website, only getting a response from their customer care saying that they were unable to locate the ID, although the ID was correct! They don't really verify people and the website is actually a paid Tinder.
Second, The website is financial hassle. It continues to get money out of your account without notifying you first once you register. I wasn't aware of it until I checked my bank statement lately. I previously paid for 6 months and the website charged for another 6 months and would continue to charge me even if I am not active anymore. I immediately logged into Match.com to cancel my subscription and even got a confirmation that after 2/10/2016 I will no longer be charged.
This morning I tried the online chat and immediately after questioning why with auto renewal turned off was I charged, I get a canned response from "Valery **" that I need to call Customer Care and she disconnects from me, allowing no further input from me. So I call and after being on hold for about 15 minutes, it sounds like I'm about to connect to an agent only to get hung up on. So I call again, and this time I finally get through to "Maria" after being on hold a while, and pretty much like everyone else here has said, they absolutely refuse to offer a full refund. I was offered a one month instead of a six month subscription, but when I asked how much that would be, she said $52 (the six month was $127). Not much of a refund, and pretty ridiculous. She asked if I would accept that and I said, "No, I want a full refund."
I asked to speak to a supervisor and she wouldn't even do that, saying that her supervisor would just tell me the exact same thing. I finally told her that I would just dispute the charge with my CC company instead and hung up. Since the charge is still pending, my CC company wants me to wait until I've actually been charged to dispute it, so now I have to wait 1-5 days for the transaction to go through before I can even dispute it.

There is little doubt that I was being contacted by fake accounts as there was no reason these accounts would contact me given their profile information (distance, age, physical preferences, etc). It seems obvious that Match.com creates fake profiles to interact with non-paying members with the sole intent to lure people to pay for a subscription.

I have had lots of false "possible connections" because either the site pretends someone is interested, however, as soon as you try to respond to the person, 9-10 times they are no longer available - sometimes all in the matter of 2 minutes. Also, when you do get a wink or a "favorite" that is not put on by the website, you find out they are scammers anyway. You can tell that by lots of different ways. In fact, I have reported more scammers here than anyone should have to. I have complained so much about technical support and said I would write a poor review and from that point on I get nobody viewing me. I find that so very interesting - I was getting 15 or so a day when I first joined 6 weeks ago and now I am down to 1 about every five days and sometimes out of the 1 - they are scammers.
The site is poorly run, the workers don't try to help, they just get personally offended and then they penalize the client. And no matter how much you try to explain to the powers that be, they will not give you the unused portion of your money back. I had no idea a company could be so rude on the phone and would not even offer any kind of alternative to refund for unused time. This company should not be allowed to operate in this manner.

Even though you cancel you subscription, they continue to charge you for the subscription without your knowledge and authorization, and they will not refund you back. Customer service reps barely speak English and you can barely understand them and will not transfer you to anyone else and call you a racist if you ask for somebody to speaks English better. They even charge you after their guarantee of 6 months. I wouldn't let dog use this website. ABSOLUTELY 200% DISSATISFIED - YES 200%. I wouldn't recommend this website to anyone and I would tell them to stay clear of this website no matter how good they make it sound. MOST OF THE MATCHES THAT YOU GET ON THERE ARE BOTS.

I signed up for a 6 month subscription. Did not want anymore otherwise would have signed up for more. Wasn't informed of automatic renewal. Tried to cancel my account and it just kept looping round the same questions... You have to answer a survey before you can cancel... I answer and get sent straight back to the start! Tried to contact customer services, again kept getting sent round in circles. To speak with customer services you have to first answer questions and no matter what I do there is no way to contact them. They have since sent me an email saying they are taking a £60 payment that I don't want them to and cannot afford for them to do it.
Now my bank will be overdrawn and charges imposed all because they won't let me cancel my subscription. I need it cancelling and my money returned to me. This is out of order. They get you to sign up misleading you by not telling you everything up front and clear and then don't allow you to or make it extremely difficult to cancel whilst still taking your money.

Cannot stop the automatic renewal feature!!! You don't need a "password" to renew; however, to cancel you are asked for a password and when you ask to reset the "password" the link NEVER works. I called and never got through the phone line for days! When someone did answer, I was cut off three times in a row or had to be "transferred" and then cutoff. Finally, I talked to a guy who canceled my account the day after I was again charged for three more months, but he was not "allowed" to credit my card and again had to transfer me to a non-working number that continues to ring. A TOTAL RIPOFF THAT I REPORTED TO MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY!

I was a member here 3 different times but not had this problem before. I wrote and complained about them sending me emails to my profile that when I tried to search them on here it would come up "no such profile." So they didn't even send me an excuse, they just turned off my profile. I was fine with that since in a month and a half my subscription would be up and I wasn't using the site anymore!!!
Then... They charged my credit card $119.96. Two different times I called them and they told me that I had started my account again at one point. I wasn't even here on the day they said it happened. So I cancelled my subscription again and called them up 1 day after they charged my card but they wouldn't give me any kind of refund. I would not recommend this site at all. Go to Zoosk.

I paid for 3 months of Match.com which was not cheap. When I signed up I was immediately encouraged to pay more money to 'email' or 'chat' with anyone. In other words, only other members who paid could receive my communications, non-paid members could not. This was not made clear to me when I signed up for the service.
In addition, I started receiving email notifications that members were 'winking' at me or 'favoriting' me. When I followed the link to the profiles, there was nothing there. I also received a chat message from someone who sent me pictures and had pictures on their profile that are fake. I knew this because I found them online for other profiles. When I talked (via online chat) with Match.com, they did little to reassure me. When I asked for a refund, they stated that since I had sent 'emails' to members, I was ineligible, despite the fact that less than 24 hours had elapsed since joining the service. I called Customer Care several times but either got put on hold indefinitely or got transferred to nowhere.

Just to clarify, you CAN cancel your membership as long as you turn off auto renew. You have to make sure you have turned it off though or else you will get charged again. I tried it a few times with no luck and decided to try a month and did not get a message, then after it expired I got tons of messages that I could not read because I wasn't paying. Decided to pay for one more month and all my messages were filtered from guys who were what I requested I did want messages from.
When I would find guys I liked I would never get a response back but yet it says they read it, or they were guys who did not pay for Match. Tried messaging them 3 times to tell them their site did not work for me at all and that I shouldn't have to pay for something that doesn't work. I have yet to receive a response. Also the saying that goes people who pay for dating sites are more serious than the one's who don't is not true at all. 95% of the people on Match are also on the free sites as well such as POF!
