I found a $250 Netspend prepaid card that I misplaced. I registered it immediately. With all the fees they charged, there was only $35 left on the card. DON'T USE THEM!!! They stole my money for inactivity.
We're sorry to hear that you misplaced your card. All fees are clearly stated in the terms of service that you must agree to when you buy and load a card. We're so disappointed to hear that you missed the inactivity fee among those fees. If you misplaced the card, then you could have immediately reported it lost/stolen and gotten a new card and not been subject to inactivity fees. I received an email stating my account was closed from me and suspicious activity. I didn't authorize the closing and they are taking $20 from my account and the rest sent via check. I talked to a lady who claims she talked to a supervisor and she didn't. She just talked to the people that closed my account. I have had this account for many years. I pay bills and receive direct deposit to it. I'm very upset about this matter and I am not going to stop with the complaint of this matter. This is how you treat long term clients? I think they should investigate these issues and none who speak english. I am putting this on every site for reviews to take away from any future stealing of accounts. I am moving to Chime. They have better customer service and speak great English. I am Contacting Supervisors, BBB, and other places where it can't be ignored like I was on the phone.
We have thoroughly reviewed the customer’s complaint, and based on the information provided, the issue was escalated to the appropriate team for an internal investigation. In response, we contacted the customer by phone on 12/15/2024 and left a voicemail. We will be in contact with Mr. Springer as soon as we receive an update regarding this matter.

I love the Netspend prepaid debit card. I can do anything with it. I've been with Netspend for many years and had very few problems. And the problems I had got taken care of quickly. Except for one. But that is in the past. I do like the fact that they won't pay if it's not the normal thing you do. Except one time. Now on the other hand their on-line app (even the new one, witch I just got off of) sucks. The AI can't do shit. Not even answer a simple question. But it can understand when you call it stupid or a cuss word.
The people who created the AI for Netspend did a terrible job & got paid good money. They created crap. I can't seem to get anything done with the app. It doesn't even have my physical cards in my account. It does have a card that I haven't used forever that was supposed to be cancelled. I looked at my card history & it has only that one card. None of the other cards I had. And I can't seem to get any answers or help. So I don't use the app if I can help it. When I absolutely need it I get nowhere. Just like a few minutes ago.
Suggestion: Get rid of that AI and get someone else to create one or get the idiots who created it upgrade it and make it for Netspend. Because it literally told me it was not affiliated with Netspend in any way. So I see a problem right there. It's best to have the AI be able to do things and answer simple questions. When I was looking at my card history My question was why aren't the cards I use now not on the list. Many different ways I asked and its answers had nothing to do with the question.
Well, I'm not sure how I rate. I'll rate how easily the cards have and are working. Except for one time. You guys wanted information I didn't have access to to settle some stranger using my account at some store without a pin#. He just signed. I never do that. I should have been reimbursed. Look at my history and you can see I don't skip the pin#. Big flag. But that was the only time I think. Ok enough of this. I'm tired of writing. Bye.

They keep taking options away. You can’t cash a check and you won’t receive daily updates about your account. My card was hacked and the only way I knew about it was over the daily updates. Chime has all of these options.

If I could give them no stars, I would. They suck. Their customer service sucks, they lie. They cheat. They stole money, their president's a sham. He charges you 2.95 for a prepaid card or she, I don't know. That you can get it like your local, 7-Eleven and stuff like that. But what they don't tell you is when you add your money to that, you pay that 295 fee. They're going to hold your money hostage from you. They're going to make you send in an ID and another form of proof of who you are. That's got your address and your name and their cause that says college transcripts, stuff like that in court documents that are notarized.
Everything like that is viable ballot proof but when you send it in, they're going to deny it. Tell you that they cannot identify you and they're going to make you take that card and swipe it. Somewhere, and when you swipe it, they're going to charge you 2 more dollars. Dollars? To use it? Just thought everybody should know that. You're gonna pay five dollars to use a prepay card once.

I've been using the app for more than a year, I pray this helps somebody! Even when I keep the app locked (except for purchases), they take out funds I do not wish to pay for anymore. Granted, I can call the company but money is never to be taken out of an account that is locked. I'm asking that you correct this. Thank you. 👍

I was scammed by fish bear studio, a company I have never heard of for almost 1000. Netspend for 6 months said they would have someone call and never did. Took 2 months to get a new card and I still do not have my money back. I closed my account because I expect better customer service when I report fraud. This is sad that I have to leave a review to possibly be assisted. I gave you all a 1 only because I could not put 0. I will never recommend Netspend to a soul due to how I was treated with fraudulent activity.

My card has been stolen and I'm waiting patiently to get Netspend to help me out on my claim since October 31. I was told about a provisional credit but haven't received or heard anything from netspend. I have been with them for over 7 years and I'm a retired marine veteran of 25 years. I have been with Netspend since 2006 and they upgraded me to an All Access card in 2008. I have a savings account also and if they think your card has been stolen they will block the use of your card. The only drawback is the twenty dollar overdraft fee.

My account was hacked. They gave the runaround. Put me on hold forever and never come back. Transfer me to line that no one answers. Have so called VPs call and never call back. Then after all that they sent my check back to ssa after 6 months. I had been working with them to get it back. They completely ruined my finances that I was trying to build up. They face no consequences except this review. Put your money anywhere but with Netspend.

Updated on 09/01/2025: Netspend said that they responded two days ago. I didn't see it. Don't know if my last one went through but I'm a Veteran with Grandkids that I love spending money on. To have Netspend or Takeskin rob them makes a bad America. $1203 is what I am owed on my card and they won't give it to me.
Original Review: On 08/20/2025 Netspend agreed to upgrade my Azulos Card to an Azulos Plus and make another Netspend Card with my $1203. I paid $25 a piece for FedEx 48 hour delivery. NetSpend only sent the Azulos Plus Card. This corrupt company asked my address 5 times. Why? You kept my card and money! Robbery.

I’ve been able to manage my finances better because I can put my money on my Netspend card and use it to pay my bills. I don’t have to worry about anyone pulling money out without me knowing because they send alerts asking, “Did you buy this or not?” I love the way it’s performing. It’s great.

I wanted to try an online banking company that was okay and got the Netspend card. It took a while for my direct deposit to come in ‘cause my payment had to go in 20 days before the deposit. But it’s a good thing to have and I’m happy with it.

Netspend is fine and I’ve had no complaints. I’ve contacted them a few times but sometimes, the accents of their customer service reps are too strong. Other than that, I would recommend them.

This particular card company takes advantage of others by charging lots of fees. I closed my account out shortly after being charged a fee just got have the account immediately after funding it. It stated that there were no fees to have and use the account and card. NetSpend does not stand behind what it advertises and promotes. NetSpend claims that there is no way to waive fees for its accounts and cards. Thus, a NetSpend account and card are not recommended to anyone who hates being nickel and dimed just to have and use an account and card. This is highway robbery. I would not recommended NetSpend to anyone.

There was a brief interruption of Netspend internet service in which we could not access our accounts. A phone call to the 737 number explained that it was not an isolated problem and that it would be remedied as soon as possible which was greatly appreciated. Access to my Netspend account was quickly restored by Monday morning.

Netspend offers the best choices. The Netspend card is better than what I had before ‘cause it’s convenient and easy to use. I use it for direct deposit and withdraw money from the ATM, and there’s a lot of ATMs close by, so it's been okay.

I chose Netspend because they're the quickest I could get a card. It’s very convenient, and the price was pretty neutral. Everything was fantastic until last week because I had a fraudulent webpage pop up, and they canceled my card. I just had money deposited in my account, and now I gotta wait for the card. I paid to get a card in two days, and it’s been almost seven days now. I have not gotten my card yet.

When I first got my Netspend card, it was taking $1.95 off every time I used it. I didn’t know why at the time, so I called and they told me why it was doing it. Their customer service is great, and Netspend is a great card to have.

I just had a fraud problem with my Netspend Card and Anytime Alerts helped me by getting an alert saying that I had authorized someone else to get alerts. I investigated and found out that someone had gotten into my direct deposit account and put their phone number there. I don't know how these people do this stuff, but they do. I called Netspend, and it’s very easy to speak with their representatives. They’re very helpful, courteous, and professional. I had to close everything down, which was an inconvenience. But at least it helped me to know that someone was trying to get into my account.

My experience with Netspend has not been good. Anytime you use NetSpend, you gotta pay for it. They are charging to transfer money from CashApp, which they weren't doing when I first signed up. They shouldn't change the terms in the middle if it wasn't like that when you first started. If somebody CashApp me, I can pick it up on my NetSpend. NetSpend charges the person, and then they charge me too. They charge a percentage depending on how much you’re transferring from your card. I don’t know if that’s something fraudulent, but they are charging a lot.
It's causing a problem with my phone bill because it wasn’t covering my phone. I didn’t know I wouldn’t have enough on the card. When I was using CashApp, I thought I had enough to pay my phone bills, but I didn’t because NetSpend would take the money off just to send the payment. Then I had to go back and put more money on the card, which costs an extra $5 each time. It ended up costing so much money that I stopped using the card for a long time. I’m trying to cut down on using it. I wouldn’t recommend NetSpend at all because there are other services that do a better job.

It seems as if I must replace a card almost once a year due to some kind of fraudulent purchase made on my card. Why is it that I get compromised often like this annually? And then there is a long wait time to get a new card and often, I can't even login or activate a new card.
We continuously work on the security of our products to our customers. In regard to the login issues, we have fixed the issue and all customers should have no issues accessing the app or website.

My card was mistakenly charged and then revoked by Netspend. The very next day they had my money sent to me so that I could use the cash. My wife was really ill and in the hospital, and the rep was very compassionate and went above the call of duty. I would highly recommend Netspend to anyone.

Netspend app not working. I try logging on it goes to app not available retry. That is not working. This has been going on for a week now. I was told to uninstall app which I did not able to get app to work either. Just says retry. What's up with it.

Hello, I've try to call many times but I was confused. The bank account, it's trouble account number but it's good for me. Please removed all account debit card because I received one card is work but I did activated card, not working because the account someone have as out. It's not mine. Please remove 2 card in routing number.

I get what I need it for, although I don’t like paying $1.95 for debit payments. But, I’ve been able to trust you with my money and I’m close to Kwik trip where I can load money onto card. You’re missing some of the “bells and whistles” of some other debit cards. But I’m satisfied with your service.

I have had a number of very unpleasant encounters with your customer service department. I am owed $370.00 right now due to NetSpend taking unauthorized auto payments out of my account. The company of origin did not authorize these withdrawals. I have never had a single customer service issue where the customer was actually taken care of by your company. Another note for you is; the customer should NOT be charged for expedited shipping for a new debit card after the old debit card was hacked. It isn’t the customer’s fault but we have to pay for it. This is just another example of the terrible customer service. I have had an account for a number of years and not one time has your customer service taken care of my complaint.
We have provided an update regarding the account and have provided the best service to get this issue revolved.

I had received an email from you for an upgrade on my debit card, I'm been waiting for over a month now and it was where I upgraded and I'll receive a $100. Credit to my account. I have yet to receive it. I've been a customer for almost 10 years now, I feel like I'm getting no communication about my upgrade or for that matter My new card. All I want is to be upgraded debit card and My credit to my account.

I was sent an email stating that my account had 5 unsuccessful attempts to gain access to. I called NetSpend and was told that everything with my account was alright and that nothing had been taken. I thanked the woman that I had spoken to for checking to make sure everything was fine.

Called customers service when I couldn't load my replacement card and received no help. Therefore, until you send me a card that I can, you have lost a customer. I do not need a paper card. I need one like I have received in the past, Which I can use on the internet for my safety.

The entire time I have been a customer I have only had one bad experience with the Netspend CSR. My pay always come early and it's accurate. I get what I requested and I am satisfied with my card and this bank. I would like to have my overdraft reinstated for my connivance. Thank you very much and keep up the good work.

Zero Stars. I've had this card for a month. They stole all my money my whole check claiming they never got a deposit. My employer says they sent it. Everyone else got work got paid except for me. When I try to call customer service they keep hanging up on me. They need to be reported to the FBI.

System always goes down!! Customer service can never help. Can barely understand what they are saying. Wait time says 30 mins but waited over a hour and still didn't get help but when it's time to pay monthly fee they make sure that works....Just lost a customer. I don't recommend this company to anyone!!! I GIVE THEM 0 STARS.

Unjustified charging of illegal fees. Changing customers illegally and will not release your money. Sporadically Changing its terms and conditions. I have spent 5 full business days and I think it's piracy and illegally holding funds.

I’ve had great customer experience with Netspend every time I’ve needed to call them. I enjoy getting paid earlier and the alerts. Any time there is a question, something suspicious or out of order, they always contact me. Netspend has prevented me from falling victim to identity theft twice. Recently, I had to get a new card using an app. Just for me going on that app, and not even putting in my credit card information, the hackers were able to go through my email and hack me. The $800 charge that they tried to put on my card did not go through. Netspend was able to get me a new card sent out. I have nothing but good things to say about the company.

I’ve been with Netspend for two years now and if I have a problem, I contact them. I get a response from them immediately and that's very important these days. Someone had charged something and I dealt with it right away when I saw it on my statement and I didn't recognize it. I cancelled out and I got a new card information and I got everything timely. I've recommended Netspend to family friends already.

Every time I use my Netspend card, they give me an alert. They charge you $1.00 every time you use your card. Every time I use any type of machine, I pay $3.00. If somebody gets some products on my card, I have to wait 10 days to get my card back. Plus, they charge you $3.00 for another card. The only thing I really have a problem with Netspend is the overdraft. Any kind of overdraft, you're gonna pay $20.00.
I also don't know if it's NetSpend, but I have been spammed about four times. This is my fifth card I'm gonna get now. I don't know if it's the grocery store or the gas station. I'm stuck with no money because Netspend’s gonna cancel the card right there and then. Then when I have to request another card, it might be 7 to 10 days before another card comes.
The one fraud I had, somebody went in my account twice unauthorized. I lost almost close to $100 I never got back even though I reported this unauthorized withdrawal. When I have Wells Fargo, if I call them and say it was an unauthorized withdrawal, they'll stop it right then and put my money back in my account. But with Netspend, they're gonna do an investigation. Then it takes you 10 minutes to get ahold of a representative. You just can't press zero. You gotta put the account number in, and they take you through all these different cycles before you can get to a rep.

I'm having a problem right now viewing my online statement with Netspend. Normally, I can view my online statement, and every time I use my card, it comes right to it. So, if somebody uses my stuff, it sends me a chime. Six months ago, somebody charged some Walmart stuff to my card in the middle of the night, and I got Walmart and Netspend to take care of it. I called Netspend and they refunded the 16 something. Another issue I had which was probably user error, was I could make the deposits into my savings, but I had to call in to get the savings back to my checking when I needed it. That wasn't a hassle to me though. I just call them up.
I've had my card for over 15 years. I signed up for one of the cashback offers, and I got $3.14, which is the first time I ever got money from a bank. I tell people all the time that I get paid a few days earlier than my husband who is at a regular bank. I'm getting paid a couple of days before he does. In case you're broke at the end of the month, it comes in handy.

Netspend is convenient, that's why I use it. Luckily, I haven’t had to deal with too many people. But the ones that I’ve had to deal with, there was no problem. The Anytime Alerts is great because that way, I know when money’s coming in and out of my account. And I have access to my account 24/7. So I always know what’s in my account and that helps me out a great deal.
I have tried to reload once or twice and I just go to a check cashier and they do it for me. I tell family and friends all the time that they should get a Netspend because it's easy banking. The only problem is that two years ago, I would get paid two days earlier which was very convenient. But now, I don’t know if it’s the payroll or Netspend, but I don’t get my check until Thursday night. I get paid on Fridays.

Netspend are nothing but crooks that hold your money to make interest. They will reject your direct deposit and then will hold that deposit for 6 days and then send your deposit back to your bank. It should never take 6 days to return money that they rejected. They say it’s processing which means they are holding your money for no valid reason. They should not be in business and I hope the owners go to prison.

Can't even use your money without getting hit with fee after fee. When you ask for a onetime courtesy reimbursement of fee, they will deny it and not remove it. They will advertise a $200 account opening bonus and deny the existence of any such promotion.

I have been with Net Spend for many years. The service used to be good and had no problems. This has changed. I have been charged multiple times for single transactions and charged for transactions that I did not even do. I have had my card stopped and have several issues in not being able to access my account online, and being able to contact customer support. They have stopped my card and sent me new cards, but never transferred my balance to the new card. I have received multiple cards in the mail from Net Spend, and I did not request them. In doing all of this, they will not refund my money from the transactions that have double charges or the ones I did not make.

Netspend keeps an account of all of my spending and keeps me abreast of things. But I don’t like that they hire people that can't speak clear English. If they'd have people who could speak clear English, I could understand them better. I called Netspend yesterday to tell them to pay a bill for me and I understood some of what the rep was saying, but not all of it.

I've had a Netspend account since 2018 and I don't have any problems except recently, I've been going back and forth with them for a month and a half trying to get my online signing. Netspend needs to work on their customer service. They're not helpful at all. They need to be trained. During my last incident with them with my online account, they kept giving me all kinds of excuses. I explained myself over and over with the person that answered the call, and then, all of a sudden, they asked for me to be put on hold. That was more than five minutes. Then they came back asking the same questions. They should have a record or notes of every conversation. It always said they were gonna put in some notes in the computer and then somebody would call me. Nobody did. I had to call back myself to follow up on my problem. That's bad service.

I just started using NetSpend and it gives me a way to be able to have banking services and manage my SSI income safely and securely. The customer service is generally good, though more accessibility for resolving issues would be helpful to keep up with changing needs. A friend who referred me experienced a credit card scam while ordering her food. She got scared because Netspend is responsible for her money and it happened right away. She and I are disabled and we receive SSI benefits so it displaced her. NetSpend should be able to re-establish her funds and accredit it properly. They should also do investigations right away. So, overall, NetSpend is good, and love it. I am thankful to them for being that type of business and corporation when it comes to financing, which is very tough.

If I need something and I call the customer service, Netspend is always right there to help me out with whatever I need. However, I have had fraud on my accounts before. So I don't like putting in certain information, typing it into my phone. That's one thing that I don't like about Netspend is that I have to type in my account number or my social number. I prefer to just reach out to customer service directly myself and provide that personal information rather than typing it in.

I use Netspend to buy stuff online and my bank card was always giving a stolen from buying stuff online. I found out about this reloadable card. So I bought one and I use it when I buy online.
However, a little over a month ago, I got a fraud alert text and I called them. They froze my card and they sent me another one in the mail. But I use it for my auto refill on my phone. And it was just a few days until the auto refill kicked in. I was worried that I wasn't gonna get my card in time to be able to contact Straight Talk and have a change of a card out there. But I got the card two days before it went on. Also, once you get a hold of them, it's not that hard. But when I called them, it was an hour before I could get a hold of anyone. I like the card, it’s just sometimes I have trouble reloading it. Because I used to go to a place where I could use my bank card and they would let me use it to reload. But now, I have to use cash to reload it.

Please tell me why a paper ID is not acceptable when that is what the state deems acceptable? You have my old id, paystub, tax return, alt bank statement, SS card. You never had a problem accepting who I am since 2012. Not once did you ask for my id. This is unacceptable. It can be 2-6 weeks before I receive my permanent ID. I can't even access my account. I do not feel like my money is safe. I have kids and seniors I am responsible for. Where is my money NetSpend? Ref **.

Netspend has had a few changes but everything's been good with them. They have their policies, and I agree with a lot of them. I've been with them a long time and their people are very professional. They're very accurate in whatever they tell you. They let me know when to expect my benefits. I get it earlier than the day that they say so that's even better. Netspend is doing a fantastic job. I appreciate them. They put out the information and I get emails and text messages. I also like that I know how much is in my account at all times.

I like NetSpend because there is a level of security and safety with using that card versus other cards. Also, I liked the idea of setting it up for an ACH direct deposit. It's a step up in service in terms of what you can do with a credit card or a debit card. Netspend is right there in terms of being very close to it being an actual bank account with bank account services, or just as good. I also like the hundreds of locations that they have. I could endorse a check and the check would be deposited if I went to a CVS.
The fees are a bit high. I get it. Everybody needs to make money. That's my only slight negative to using a card. However, the reason why I started to use this is I'm being charged left and right substantially. For example, I had a monthly service charge of $5 per month just for a savings account at a bank, which is absurd. It's a savings account. They shouldn't charge anything. I should be earning interest. I can understand they charge $5 a month for a checking account, but the service charge for bank checking account, that's closer to $10 a month. But there are more positives than negatives with using Netspend versus the other. I used it frequently for a period of time and will use it again.

I liked it at first that Netspend didn't charge you when you make a transaction. But now, they're doing it. Other than that, Netspend is a good card. Some of my family members say no to it but I tell them I've been with Netspend a long time, and if I have a problem, I call them and they send me a new card. If I need it before then, they give me the routing number and my account number so I can still pay my bills. When you make a transaction, it comes straight to your phone so you know what transaction was made, and I love that. I heard some people said they lost money, but I've never been through that. I had a fraud come up on the card. When I called Netspend and told them what happened and that I didn't make the transaction, they answered my call. They checked it out and refunded my money.

I had an issue a couple of weeks ago with a call for a delivery, and it was all messed up. So I had to put in for a fraudulent charge. I spoke with two Netspend customer service people, and a mistake was made, but it was not on them. It was on me. I hit the wrong box. The customer service was great. Everything that they told me they would do, they did. So right now, I am happy with Netspend.
I love the alerts. I bought an air purifier from Amazon, and they sent me a text message because it cost $400. They sent me a message saying this transaction has been put out on your card. That is a great feature.
The only thing I don't like about it is the limited amount that I can take out of the ATM. I could take out 500 at a time with the last card I was with. Netspend is capped at 300.
Our customer service team does a splendid job with empathizing with our customers if they are ever in a compromising position. I use NetSpend to shop online at TikTok and other places like that. I put money on it by myself. I go to the check-cashing place which is a mile from my job. But I live in the Brookland area and if I wanted to go somewhere else, there's none in my area. I have to go close to my job in order to put put money on it.
Additionally, when a charge would show up and I would dispute it, it would take so long for me to get another card. I've had that happen at least two times in the last four or five months. I've had two or three different cards in that period. It might have been my mistake and somebody might have said I signed up for a book that I didn't sign up. I straightened that out, but NetSpend still canceled my card automatically. I had to wait eight or nine more days to get another one. Most of my bills are set up on my Netspend card and everything's been going through with no problems. But if they disrupt the card, some of my bills will be messed up and I have to reset everything up. But over the 10 years that I've had NetSpend, I didn't have that problem.

I opened my Netspend account about 8-9 years ago and consistently have had great customer support if there were issues with charges. Additionally the website is simple and easy to use. I highly recommend Netspend AllAccess. The only thing I would add is that it would be great to add an online check deposit option. I rarely receive checks though so that isn’t important to me but just a suggestion. Zero complaints in 8-9 years.

You let unauthorized transactions go through file dispute then you drag your feet on investigations and you change the transactions. Instead of 3 there's more and the amounts don't add up to the first transactions. Nobody can answer questions when I have gotten hold of someone. You just hold my money and then charge overdraft fees and maybe I'll get my money back. If not it's you stealing from me and I'll look at my options.

I have Netspend cards accounts for years, this is the first year I've had my checks directly deposited, I say that because when I disputed a charge on my card, my card was blocked with no notifications, it was a disservice to me because I had to set up another netspend card and wait an extra week to be paid until the change went thru, I love netspend but I was pissed I had to wait when my card was blocked, here's the thing my card wasn't stolen, a charge was made on my account I didn't authorize, then boom it was blocked, I didn't appreciate that... As of today everything is fine and I shall continue to use netspend because I love the benefits and especially getting paid two days earlier, thank you. Tamisha

My experience was horrible. They closed my account after 10 plus years. When I report fraud to my account without warning I had money in my account they decline my dispute and I ordered a express card never receive a refund for. I had to do my direct deposit to a whole new account.

I love that I have a choice to have fees with every ATM transaction or 5$ a month. $5 is a pretty good deal. It is also easy for me to access my online account and review my bank statements. I get good customer service when I call as well.

I've been with Netspend for a while but left them. I recently came back because I can receive earlier access to my paycheck. I can also do debit transfers which is really nice. I don't ever foresee leaving ever again. Netspend has been really great to work with. I highly recommend to do business with Netspend.

This is my bank card. Satisfied. I am disappointed With their service . Not on their part. It seems that when I'm on the web and the people that are selling things have more control over your money than you do I immediately call them and said there's been a mistake for I only was supposed to pay $37 but they charge me $200 and I had to wait for that to the 200 to go through and now I got to fight to get it back when I clearly clearly call them right away on the matter. There needs to be something done about that because it's my third fault that they have to follow procedure but when it's my money they should be in my best interest not because the person selling or distributing the product when they probably try to charge me all the way overcharge me.
Now I've had other incidents where this happened and I got it reversed but it took four months of them holding my money to get it back. I don't think that's right. That's my money and if I say somebody's overcharged me for something I thought I was getting whether I read the fine print or not makes no difference. I canceled and I should have all my money back. I don't want the product.

I love Netspend because anytime you go to Walmart you can just refill your card or if you have the overdraft and you need money it's just perfect. It's saved me so many times so that's why I recommend them. They're everywhere you know from state to state I think maybe even worldwide but I'm not 100% on that but anyway this it's great the NetSpend card. A lot of people judge it because it's a prepaid. Now it's a great card. Thumbs up for NetSpend.

I've had other online banking and Netspend is far the best yet I like the overdraft offered 👍 and that deposits go in a bit early. Customer svc is quick to answer the phone and very professional and very knowledgeable. Very satisfied thus far keep up the great work. Ty.

I am very satisfied with how my transaction are handled and I have been with Netspend for 8 years now and I truly appreciate it the service. Someone ordered a new card in my name and had it expedited to them from a totally different city and state which they changed the shipping address so the card would go to them. I had no knowledge of the whole process until I was receiving text alerts like crazy getting cash all day until the bank stopped paying on the mess! The agent I talked to was very helpful and did what she had to do to get my account figured out and took care of everything. She was very informative! Thanks to her for her understanding.

Netspend does not let the customer know of their options to choose a monthly fee or a fee for every individual transaction when activating an account. I think this is a deceptive way of making more money for NetSpend, after all who wouldn't choose a monthly fee over a $1.95 fee per transaction when given a choice? As a result I will not use NetSpend again.

I received a text asking me if I tried to open a Walmart account. They said to answer yes or no. So, I answered No instead of calling Netspend's customer service number, and my card was canceled immediately. Therefore, the fraud was immediately STOPPed! I then called Netspend and they sent me out another card within a 2-week time line. Very efficient and I trust them! Been with them for years!! Will never leave. Netspend is more trustworthy than any of my local Banks.

The fees are extremely expensive. The overdraft fees are extremely high and too much to be charged for each transaction that is made while in over draft. Netspend is a great service is just the fees are expensive and needs to be lowered. I have been with netspend for a few years now and like the early deposit.

I've been with Netspend for so long and I'm not going to continue with them until we hash out the issue with my money that was taken from me.
I had noticed a charge on my account that I didn't make from Apple.com. And I was actually in the process of paying for something on my phone because I use Apple Pay. And as I'm in the process of paying for something, I saw a charge that came up. I didn't know what that was, but I'm out. So I said I’ll deal with that when I get home. It was a charge for $7.48 from Apple.com, which I know wasn't me. So, that prompted me to start going through my account. I had several charges from Apple.com.
I called Netspend, and the representative that I spoke to was awesome. He and I both went back through my account and picked out the fraudulent charges. There were around 80 charges from Apple.com for $7.48. And then there was another company Personality Coach that had charged me $30 five different times. Now, the $7.48 charges, and there were a lot of them, but they were so small I didn't notice. They actually went back to 2023. The rep was very diligent in helping me.
I disputed the charges. I was told initially that in order to receive a provisional payment while it's under investigation, it would take until June 11th. I had to email the dispute department to officially dispute the charges. I laid it all out for them because I was writing everything down as we were discovering things. And in their response, they explained to me that they had until June 11th, or if it went further than that, it would be another 45 days.
The very next day, I started receiving reimbursements for the charges that I disputed. The charges that I disputed has a total amount of $797. I wasn't expecting to receive any reimbursements until June. It was very next day after I filed the dispute that I started receiving individual reimbursements. The two days after my filing the dispute I received reimbursement in the amount of $294.
I'm expecting to receive my full amount because they all started reimbursing me. I didn’t hear anything. I called Netspend, spoke to a representative but they don't know anything. They only know the things that are notated in my account.
I asked to speak to the dispute department, and it seems like that department really doesn't exist because why can't I just be transferred to them? The last person I spoke to said they will call me back within 24-48 hours. I let the weekend go past. No one called me. And I called them and they told me my dispute has been denied, but they have until August 25th to finish the investigation.
So, I sent a nasty email to the dispute department, and they reiterated that they had until August 25th. However they had started reissuing funds the following day after I saw the dispute. Clearly, there was a mistake. They owe me. So, I'm no longer corresponding with Netspend. I have an attorney. He is dealing with their legal department because something is not right here. I got reimbursed a small portion, $294 out of the $797.
I would never refer anybody to Netspend. They are horrible. Their customer service is horrible. Even when I emailed the dispute department for the second time, they sent me back a generic email. I'm over Netspend. I will see them in court. The way they have handled me, and especially as a long-time consumer, is egregious.

If you don't want to have to sit and do checks and balances yourself, and you like to let your apps do that for you, Netspend is a pretty good opportunity.
Everything is as it is explained or as advertised. A friend of mine had it, and I saw that it did the direct deposit. I had my check sent through there from my job, and I've had one ever since. I've had two or three accounts from Netspend.
I'm terrible with my finances, but the card helps me deal with it. The Anytime Alerts messages come through fine. Usually, it's the low-balance alert.
If you have an issue, it’s very easy. All you have to do is go through the help center chat. If you'd rather talk to somebody, then the number is there and they always pick up.

I’ve been a Netspend customer since around 2014, and I’ve stayed loyal because of the early access to payments—it’s good. I like that I also get alerts, and I have the All-Access, which gives me overdraft protection. The main issue I have is with deposits. Sometimes the system messes up, and it takes almost an entire day before I receive my benefits. I have another card, and I still haven’t received my benefits for it yet. Speed is really the only thing I wish would improve.

Netspend has been wonderful, they’re great. Every time I talk to them, I tell them how great they are because they are very helpful. I can call any time of the day. Even at night, somebody always answers, and they're always very polite. I've never had any issues at all.
I will never go back to a regular bank. Every time I use it, it shows me my balance. I know banks do that a lot. But our local banks, if something went through and it wasn't something familiar, even if it was local, they would shut my card down, and I wouldn't be able to use it again.
And so, I contacted them, and then they had to redo a card, and I wouldn't be able to access my money. And Netspend doesn't do that. I know it's good to have some kind of fraud stuff, but over $25 or $5, they shut your card down and wait for a response.
It's very easy to contact them. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to get a large amount of cash out. I have to go to Walmart or somewhere and get cash back because the ATMs won't give cash back unless I go to certain ones that I have to go to.
I get notices, and that's what I like about it. Because they let me know what and when it was, and how much your balance is. They don't just say $20 was taken out or $23. It tells you when something's taken out, and then it gives you your balance. So, I really like that.
I have told people how good it is and suggest that they get it.

Filed fraud on my dad’s account who keep in mind is 75 years old with dementia and doesn’t drive and lives at a nursing facility. As soon as his retirement check came the first month his account was frauded the entire amount. As soon as I noticed it, I canceled the card and submitted the fraud claim. Netspend has denied the claim. One of the chargers was even for a car wash. My dad hasn’t drove it in 15 years and it’s not all there mentally to drive. Doesn’t even have a car. Literally doesn’t leave the nursing home facility. Annette been denied his fraud claim and basically said he was out his whole retirement check. So I resubmitted it and now I have to go through the whole process again, which is a joke.
This is not the experience we expect our card holders to have. We would like to take another look at what happened and see what we can do. Please check your DMs. Thank you.

Netspend, I’m VERY disappointed. I had $610 taken out of my account. I was at work with my card on me. I call Netspend to report it. They said that it was done in the store and that somebody had copy my card info. I was told to call back on the 13 June, come to find out they denied my claim. This is so unfair to me. I worked hard for my money, very hard. Now my bills are behind due to you all cheating me, **.

Netspend was convenient for me to use. It was closer to me. I've been with Netspend a long time and it's a good card to have. It’s easy to put money on the card. I just go to an ACE check cashing place and just put money on the card.
There were a few incidents that I've had with unauthorized transactions being made on the account and I had to cancel a certain amount of costs and open up new cards, but they got that straight.
The fees I have to pay are not a big deal. When I make transactions or purchases, the charge is no more than a dollar or two at the most. I'm fine with that.

I recently experienced fraud on my Netspend card. I’m in Springfield, Illinois and the card was charged twice in San Francisco. They told me to write in a statement. I cancelled that card and switched to something that I could be safer with. Good thing I did because I had a little bit more change on there.

I got upset at the online bank that I was then using, so I decided to switch back to Netspend and pulled out my old Netspend card. Everyone has been pleasant and helpful, especially when I needed to reactivate my card after locking my account. I went through a little bit of a hassle verifying my identity since I live with my son and the utilities are in his name. But once I provided my birth certificate, Social Security card, and ID, everything was straightened out.

It's been two weeks since I’ve had Netspend, and I just got the card. My sister dealt with them, and she said they’re pretty good. I never used it yet, but I'll go put some money on it
At first, I had a hard time setting up my account, and then they had a lady who was helping me. She was working through the apartment, and she showed me how very easy it is. I didn't think it was easy, but it was easy.
I only use it if I gotta pay a bill, and to put something on there like savings. I could do that, and it's a good thing.

I had received prepaid cards from them all the time, I just didn't use them then. But for three months now, I've been using it. I direct deposit my check to my Netspend card. I tried to get a loan, too, and had called to get a copy of my statement, but I wasn't approved for it.

The customer service reps are always trying to be nice. They don’t speak good English, and sometimes they talk too fast. You have to tell them, “Whoa, you gotta slow down.” But they’re always trying to be nice, and most of the time, they are.
I think they’re trying to move everything to the computer. You have to call them to register a card, and then you have to go online to answer questions. I can’t get online, so that aggravates me. I just wish they would keep things where you could call them.
Is Netspend charging a $2 fee for every interaction? Because I’m always $2 short on the card. The answering service will say I have $6, but when I go to the store, I can only spend $4. They also keep sending me the orange card, but you can’t see the letters on the orange card.

I tried Netspend back in 2013, and I was with them for a bit, but then I let go, and then I went right back to them, and I’ve been with them ever since. Doing business with them is easy. And if I overdraft, that's when they charge me a fee.

It’s convenient. I can directly deposit my benefits into the Netspend card, I can easily access it on my mobile app which I use frequently, and I'm not locked into a bank account. Customer service is also awesome.

I've reached out to Netspend's customer service lots of times and my experience was always good. It's just a matter of waiting a long time for a receptionist to pick up, then you got to push all these buttons at least 10 times before you can get to the right one. I use the card to pay my bills and for direct deposit from my Social Security. And mostly, all my money goes on to that Netspend card. I pay $5 a month on it and it's a very good card. I load it up at least four times a week, and I'd tell my friends who are thinking of getting one to go for it.

I just want to say that NetSpend went above and beyond on getting my account straightened out after I was falsely charged 310 dollars on my debit card.. They done a thorough and fair investigation on the matter and refunded my money the very next day... I would recommend there services to anyone.... I named this "The Card" because when I joined Netspend it was a matter of requesting a card. No long line at the bank, no personal questions from a teller, no fuss. Just a card. I received almost the info by calling the automated service such as routing number, account number and that was it. I receive my monthly Social Security via my Netspend and have not had any issues. I love it!

Instead they tried to send me and charge me for items I never ordered and would not let me cancel the items I did not order. Causing me an overdraft fee. Please check the dates and you will see I only ordered 2 boxes of pain patches on 4/30/2025. On 5/24/2025 was when I tried to order a compression knee brace and 1 box of more pain patches, that's when they tried to sent me items I NEVER ORDERED or could use for my condition. I AM WILLING TO PRESS CHARGES IF NEED BE.

Ever since I got my Netspend All Access card I am very happy and satisfied. I can use it whenever I need it and if somebody tries to use it I get alerts. Notifying me of somebody trying to use my card and it’s put my card on Lock. That’s what I like.

I have been a Netspend Customer for more than 2 years. My experience has been very good with Net spend Company. All the other pre-paid cards I have tried were not as on point as Net Spend card. I have not had any problems with these people. Have always been treated well & if had any problems they were quick to solve it. I would definitely recommend to anyone that doesn't really want to deal with traditional banks. I have been with you since 2007. Last mo I got ripped off for Abt $50 from a scam. Instead of crediting my acct... "We'll check into it." NEVER heard a word. Thinking about changing to a bank that backs up their customers, especially one as old as me. This scammer used a video of a robot puppy that you train by hand movements (like a smart robot) it charges by a USB cable and comes in a blue box. Eventually I got a toy you put two double A batteries in, move the switch to on it bounces up and down and barks a $5.00 toy. I expected NetSpend to help me and go after these fraudsters. Makes me scared to get anything online. Look I'm on Social Security and alone. My dog died last year. So I thought this would be fun. But no. I lose what? All that money and a bank who won't back me up! I've had one small claim all these years. So yes. I'm angry!

A friend of mine had a Netspend card and she told me about it. That was a few years back and I decided to try it and it's good. The only thing is the security questions. Some of mine are back from the '80s and I could barely remember what I said. But I understand it's good to have them. My account got broken into and the Netspend rep put the money back in there, which I thought was good. They're a great company.

My fiance told me about Netspend and he said that it was a good card and that if you have any issues or problems, they solve it. That's why I ended up with them and I've been with them since 2007. I've been using their debit card and I'm satisfied with them, although I hate it when my call goes through the automated system. Also, sometimes, I'll have a problem with one of my cards. Every time I go to this certain place, I have an issue with putting money on it but when I go to a check cash, a rep would take the card with no problem. Other than that, I am totally satisfied with the card. I pay the $5 monthly fee and if I pay for something, I don't get charged for using the card, which is what I like about it. If I go to McDonald's, I might want to order just a coffee on the card and it would just charge me for the coffee.

Day 7 and still no help from NETSPEND regarding my account. They have literally taken my money at this point, I keep getting the same email that they are going to call me and never do, Now they are making false statements saying they called me and left a voicemail and they never did, I see that they have a lawsuit against them for freezing people's account for no reason and taking peoples money, 7 days and all I get is the same tired email that someone will call me, Company is a lying fraud, I will continue to make reviews about them on every platform until I am satisfied! I will using social media sites posting all emails they have sent to me to prove they only lie, they want people to give up and just give you the money they have taken, I’m not going for it, until I get my money, I will continue!

0 protection and they are crooks. Don't sign with these fools. Fixing to go into a legal battle over $1300 that my account was scammed and I have given them proof I was nowhere near the state. Their fees are that of a normal bank. Use Chime. Your account is a target using NetSpend. They do not protect you and it's not the 1st time this has happened.

Not a secure account. I had a Netspend account for 10 years. My account was hacked and almost 900.00 was taken from me. Filed a complaint that they validated then never gave me my money back. Left me in lines that rang into eternity. Pretended to have VPs call me like they would fix it. Nothing. It's been 6 months, and I have no way to bounce back from such a loss. Consumer Finance also didn't help.

This is a terrible company. Beware, my girlfriend‘s job paid her on a Netspend card. When she finished the job, they send you a card with blank checks. She wrote a check for the balance which was $4933. Went to the bank on the top of the check, which was U.S. Bank. Put the authorization number in. Which brought her account to zero. Went to the bank and they put their authorization number in. Confirmed everything with customer service. But when they ran the check, they said the paper was no good even though customer service said the check was good. That was Monday morning.
We then called customer service and they had us void the check and said the $4933 would be put back on her account within four days. Come Friday no money. Called again they said it’ll be on at 7 PM central time Friday night. No money. Called again they said it would be at midnight Friday night. Still no money. It is now Saturday still no money. Customer service is saying yes the money should’ve been put on there on Friday at night now be another 24 to 48 hours. This is wrong. Terrible customer service. Terrible company.

Absolutely horrible! My funds are tied up due to not being able to verify my address. I am homeless mind you. I gave them every form of ID I have and all my past addresses. I provided the receipt for the card itself where it was purchased and it was my second card although this one was for a great deal more money. The kicker is this they won’t verify my address yet they sent me a credit card to the address I provided. Hmmmm???? The supervisor of the fraud dept hung up on me and said he would not give me his full name. You are on hold for more than an hour each time you call and they talk in circles arguing over a service generated by the cash you took from your wallet and purchased their card. They know this and they have absolutely no integrity.
This could have been someone really needing money to pay something online immediately and it could have hurt them greatly and these people don’t care. My situation was dire but I’ll work through it. This company should not be in the business of taking people cash and then holding them hostage with it as they are doing. It’s just flat wrong!

My thoughts on Netspend is I don't like them, I have been trying to get my refund back. I have sent many emails and they finally sent me a check but the check was no good. Still trying to get a new check that is legit. Wells Fargo would not cash the check. They told me it looked wrong. Albertson's the same thing so if I don't get a legit payment I will be forced to take legal action. I just want my 80.00 bucks back.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I've stayed with them for years because they release deposits the same day without holding them. At this point, I don't care if I have to wait for a payroll deposit until the next week. I will be parting ways with this company. They keep saying, "We're sorry for any inconvenience," but that's nonsense. They keep saying, "Thank you for being a valued customer," but that's also nonsense. When I ask for a supervisor, I get transferred three to four times before actually speaking to one. Being told to hold and then being placed back in the queue, to begin retelling my issue to three to four representatives before I reach a supervisor, is absolutely insane.
I've been with this company since 2013, and I'm in disbelief at how I'm being treated. They allowed someone to add a phone number to my account that wasn't even close to the number or area code that's been on my account for 12 years. Less than an hour later, they let that individual steal $750 and then have the audacity to give me the runaround in getting my funds back, which I still don't have to this day, even though the transaction took place in Vegas and I was in Florida. I've sent proof after proof, which I shouldn't have even had to do because I literally used my card for the hotel and transactions in Florida. How can I be in two places at once?
Not to mention, the company listed for the fraudulent transaction states they don't have a charge with my card number with their company when I called them. Right after the thief stole the $750, they tried again to take $10, and only then did I receive a text from Netspend asking if I attempted that purchase, and I replied no. Why wasn't I asked about the $750? I tell you what, it's an inside job if you ask me! I see from previous comments that I need to contact the FDIC, so that's exactly what I'm about to do. I work hard for my money, and if it takes all this to get your money back after being with a company for 12 years, no thank you!

Do not use this card! I have had my card since february 2023 for use of my tax deposit and this year they decided to freeze my account!! I have sent in documents and they still refuse to open it! They gave me number to call and I have called that number 8 times, on hold like 45 min each time. I have emailed the president and customer service and still nothing!! At this point I just want my little $200 and I will not be used Netspend nor will I recommend anyone else to use it!

Stay away! Their systems have been down for two weeks or longer! You cannot reach anyone! All phone lines are down, online accounts are down, you can’t talk to anyone or email anyone without generated response, this has never happened in all my years with these people. And guess what? We’re all screwed. Thousands and thousands of people are pissed and stuck on what to do. Cards are froze, you work for free because you don’t get your paychecks now, and can’t reach anyone and there’s ZERO you can do about it. I will NEVER use them again after this. 20+ years I been with these people. No more. I’m switching everything to my major bank and closing out all of my Netspend/Skylight cards. This company is a joke!

They are trash, I can’t tell you how many times I have had fraudulent charges in my card. It’s seems like I through this issue every month with Netspend. And then they block your card and you don’t have any access to your account until you get a new card sent. I’ve had to pay late fees because a bill was late waiting on my card to come in the mail. When honestly I don’t understand why I’m ALWAYS having a fraudulent charge on my account. Like just last night $50 taken out my account from Uber and I did not make that purchase. And this happens WAY too often for a “bank”. They are the worse when it comes to protecting my bank account for fraud. I also have another bank, and don’t have to worry about this, but with Netspend I do.

I contacted Netspend regarding the restriction placed on my account after I updated my address. I changed my address because I recently moved and needed to add money to my card. I moved two weeks ago and updated all my information. However, when I attempted to transfer money to my other bank account, they restricted my account.
I called Netspend, and they told me it would take 4 to 6 hours to review my documents, which included my bill, lease, and the front and back of my ID. When they sent me a link to verify my ID, it was rejected, so I resubmitted all the required documents. After waiting the promised 4 to 6 hours, I called back, but nothing had been updated. I waited another three days, and still, my documentation had not been reviewed.
Now, I’m facing late payments because they are refusing to release my money. They also informed me that since I have direct deposit, my funds would be returned to the sender. At this point, I am extremely frustrated because they refuse to provide any real assistance. They claim they cannot contact the document support team to escalate my issue. I even spoke with a supervisor, but she was no help either.
No one at Netspend is willing to assist in getting my money back or reopening my account. Once (or if) they finally decide to unlock my account, I will be canceling it. I want to warn everyone to be cautious—Netspend holds onto your money and does not help when you need it. Their customer service is unhelpful, and their practices feel fraudulent.

Thieves!!! Bought the $400 card Dec 27 and they aren’t allowing access to our $400 because our underage son put in 4 numbers for last of social that we have no idea!!!! Sent proof of receipts, drivers license and then they demand your social security card???? 2 weeks later our family is in disbelief as this was my son's Christmas gift!!! Do not use Netspend!!!! When someone makes unauthorized transactions on your account by creating a virtual card. Which I never used before in my life. And in order to create a virtual card, you have to log into your account to create one. Somehow someone was able to do that by changing my password without my authorization. And…. Someone had changing my login and passwords a few weeks ago. And Netspend had to contact me to make sure that I didn’t make these changes.
You have to wait until the transactions are posted to file a dispute. They will have you on hold forever and give you the big runaround. But no one did not call me about the unauthorized charges on my account. When I was able to finally to get ahold of someone, I asked to speak to a supervisor and I get asked “why”. I have been with Netspend for almost 15 years. And they are the absolute worst. I’m closing my account after I get my money back.

My overdraft is paid every month but depending on which day Netspend post my SSI deposit, it it may make my overdraft a day late. They cut my overdraft off due to that and that's not my fault. It is always paid. It's just depending on that month's situation. It may post early one month then a day or two later the next month. Sometimes I depend on my overdraft for serious situations.

Absolutely terrible, I would not recommend Netspend at all! My funds are never safe in my account. My account was recently compromised and $1,000 was taken from my account. It took over a month for me to get that back – issue number one. Issue two: I've called and spoken to several different representatives attempting to get a replacement card. A month has gone by, and still no card. Every time I call, they say one has been sent out a month ago and send me another, but I never receive the card after the first. So, I call back and they claim the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cards were never sent out. I'm on hold for the 5th time while writing this, and once again, the card requested was also supposedly never sent out.
The virtual card feature in the app doesn't work on my account, so for a month, I’ve been unable to pay bills or access my money. They claimed someone would reach out to fix the issue, but I never heard anything back. Once I'm finally able to remove my money, I am never using a Netspend card again. The employees are incompetent, the service is terrible, and most importantly, your money isn't safe.

I'm so upset, I've never had an institution do what they want with their clients and not be penalized. This company has caused my family and I hardship. I receive SSD Benefits on this card and have been since 2014. On Friday November 15, 2024 I received my Direct Deposit for my benefits, on the same day I received an email saying there was something wrong with my account. I went to pay my Insurance and it declined. I contacted Netspend and was told that I have a restriction on my account from April 2011. The account was open with Ace Elite in 2009 and closed in 2011 with a $82.00 balance. They were holding over $1500 for $82 from 13 years ago. I advised that I filed bankruptcy and they refused to acknowledge it, they demanded payment or my account would remain closed.
I agreed to pay it finally Saturday, November 15, 2024 and the account still has a restriction keeping me from paying my Car Insurance and causing it to lapse, a late fee and eviction notice on my home, no food or gas, I drive Amazon Prime as well so I can work with no insurance. My family and I had to borrow money to EAT. They are still telling me to wait. At first it was 24 hours, now the department is closed until Monday. I never received 1 notice prior to the account suspension. They never gave me a chance to address it. They just restricted the account.

Netspend was offered as a 10c per gallon discount at Murphy gas stations. Advertised on the pumps. So I got one. What could it hurt? Direct deposit funds and convenience; so I thought. Turns out with their $2 PER TRANSACTION fee, I’d have to buy 200 gallons BEFORE I’d be saving anything. Don’t fall for it. And it’s $2 per transaction no matter what you buy or how you buy it or where you buy it from. To top it all off, their network of ATM’s is poor, most not accessible 24 hours a day, charge fees to access your own money, and get this: CHARGE FEES TO DEPOSIT YOUR MONEY. If you want to close the account, they charge $15 to send you YOUR money that is left on the card. My only question is - with far better options out there, (there’s a lot of them) that don’t gouge you with ridiculous fees for using YOUR MONEY, why would you allow any of your hard earned money to ever get near anything that has to do with Netspend?

I bought a NetSpend card for buy from Temu online. I had not even used the card. I called to activate it. I was told I had a little more than 10$ balance. I put 100$ on it when I first bought the card. I was informed that I paid 70+$ for a site membership and 14$ to enter a raffle. I had never used the card and no one has access to it other than myself. They told me they investigating the issue 2-3 weeks ago. I have heard nothing about it. Am I ripped off?

I purchased a NetSpend card with $25 added. I setup my account via the app and not long after it appeared to be working, the app wouldn't allow me to login and referred me to their customer care number. Their operator told me I had to send not only the back and front of my driver's license but an image of a bill with my address. Against my better judgement I did it and waited a reply. It came in an email that what I sent wasn't good enough and NetSpend needed more, like a government agency letter addressed to me. I sent them an image of my VA bill. Not good enough. We want more information...
It dawned on me that what this company is doing is collecting personal information in all the various forms they demand from their customers - who are frantic to be able to access their own money. So I can imagine desperate people across the country sending in every bill, W2, paystub, government ID and more they can to have the chance to get back to their money.
This is a data mining operation where the sale of that data comprises the bulk of their revenue. I only lost $25 since I still cannot access my NetSpend account. But I am putting together a criminal complaint I will send to the FTC, who has already taken NetSpend to court and won, getting NetSpend customers their money back. They need to be shut down for a thinly veiled data-mining operation where they hold people's money hostage while demanding ever more personal documents from them. NetSpend's extra fees and security demands for images of all its customers' bills, ID's, government correspondence, W2s and paycheck stubs all indicate this company is bundling it consumer data - a lot of it - and selling it.

I had my check coming on my Netspend card through my job and they were very good with it. I would get my check on Wednesdays or Thursdays, and I liked that. I also used to pay my bills off it as well. The Anytime Alerts let me know what I spent and how much I got left. If anybody was trying to do any bad transactions on my card, they would let me know about that too. Netspend was awesome. When I would call, they would take care of me and resolve my issues. If I hadn't had a bank account, I would have still been with them.

Netspend was my first card to get my money on when I worked for my other job. I had to buy that on my own and I put my money on it whenever I needed to pay one of my bills. I live in Delcambre, Louisianna, so I go to a store and reload it there. When would do direct deposit, I'd get the funds in two days which is fast. Using the Netspend card is easy and convenient. I also love the Anytime Alerts because if somebody takes my card or I had somebody go to the store then they're going to come back with whatever they took out from me, it goes straight to the phone.

If could do 0 stars I would. Terrible policy and customer service for Netspend. Just received a new card yesterday and they locked my account and card for no reason. After I called customer service, they told me to send proof of identity and address to an email and if they approved it in 4-6 hours, I would have to call back to get my account unlocked. I did just that, and after waiting for hours they rejected my proof of address. I’m at work and don’t have time to be waiting on phone calls without access to my funds. To finish it all off, they told me I have until 8 PM central time to call back to get my account unlocked. I called back before then only to be met with a call back during business hours message. Never have had to deal with such terrible business.

Worst experience ever. Foreigners speaking bad English, takes me 8 hrs to activate card. Making me spend 30 minutes to talk to live person every time with horrible English. Going in circles for 3 hrs to get card activated, which now have to wait 6 hrs for them to approve documents so don't expect to use card right away. And after you load what you need to spend, they charge a fee off that, so you have to put more money on card, which cost you more. This is a lie and a scam.

It's very easy to reload with Netspend. 7-Eleven is right up the street and they do it. Money comes on there instantly. You don't have to wait any extra time for it. Everything's been good and they have a real good app as well.

Netspend is the number one money and banking app. They make it easy for money transfers anywhere from bank to bank or debit card to debit card. They charge a fee for transferring, but they're not anything bad. But they charge a little high on loading and I end up paying $5 every time I load it. Other than that, I'd recommend Netspend. They're good with the finances and they make sure you get some money on time. I always see them, and they're talking about getting the direct deposits early. Even though I don't get them, they always tell me about it. They have good customer service and we get alerts as well.

If you want to use this card, be prepared to call the customer service several times to resolve the issues that will be generated. Their "automated fraud detection system" will trigger restrictions on the card unpredictably. I was ready to pay for my merchandise with this card and had to leave the store several times because it triggered restriction. They cannot explain why it triggered the automated restriction. It says it can be used outside of USA. I used it in Europe and it had so many issues and when you call they ask for more identifications sent such as utility bill, driving license, passport etc. Choosing this card was very expensive, lot of hassle, and embarrassment before store keepers.

Updated on 08/14/2024: I say it before I'm saying again. Do not get Netspend. I did direct deposit thru my job and I did get my pay 1 day early but every time I try use the card they blocking my account and they asked me bunch of proof. I send them. They giving me run around. Finally I give up and close my account. Still money in account then they told me whatever balance they going to send me check between 7 10 business day. Month passed already. Nothing yet. I so I called them again today. They still didn't send me a check and refusing sent my money. Bunch of scammer. I did put complaint NY state financial department. I did warning before. I'm doin same now. Again do not open account with Netspend. You will be so sorry like you have nothing else to worried you worried about Netspend keeping your hard earn money. Bunch of scammers.

A charge for $117.37 appeared on my card statement from SP ENZALISHE which is fraudulent. I did not authorize this charge, or receive any materials or items of value. Netspend refuses to assist in recovery of my funds. Avoid NETSPEND if at all possible.

I mainly use my Netspend card for my online purchases. And when I go out of town, I use it instead of my actual bank card because they tend to watch it better than my own bank does sometimes. I'm fixing to try to do where I can transfer my debit card to it. So, I don't have to always go to a store and load it. That's the only thing I didn't like I have to do. Overall, Netspend has been good and I like the way they watch out. I had good service with them.

I got an example card in the mail and I wanted to use the service so I called Netspend and they got me started. It's been some time ago and I have used the card but not that often. I just got my card renewed and I'm gonna start utilizing it a little bit more. It's been around a little while. So I’ll try, and wait and see. The customer service reps are very patient and knowledgeable of everything. When I called them, they efficiently resolved the matter within the required patience that I liked. I'm 82. So I'm in the system and I'm up to date on everything. I try to stay alert. I took some computer classes and I understand fraudulent things. But I've not had any problem with Netspend. I like their service and the efficiency of me being close to load my card is great. I like where I go. Veterans Memorial is one and I go up there. I'm only a few blocks away from that so that's a good plus.
Netspend is efficient. I like the professionalism and the knowledge that they give their customers at the time. If people want to go that route, then take it by all means because it is a good one. It’s in a sense better than a checking account. Although it has the qualifications for everything you need. They have all the services there. If people are in doubt of some of the services, just ask an agent and they will explain all about it. Netspend is like a debit card, which was something that I did not know. I called and the rep answered it. I am on social security and that is another means where you can put your direct deposit in there. I also asked if someone outside could send me money if they wanted to do that. And that was explained and answered for me as well.
The cards are pretty. You can get the colorful cards and I like that. I enjoy the service and I'm glad it's there for my convenience. I have a banking account at Wells Fargo but a lot of times, I don't wanna utilize that. So I use Netspend, which is a good thing. I would tell people that and I would highly encourage them if they're looking for an alternative. I would also encourage my friends. I stayed in a senior citizen's complex, which is a form of community with about 200 occupants. Sometimes, they are not looking to get in the rush so Netspend would be more personalized for them.

Netspend is a great card to use. You're not waiting X amount of days for money to come in and they work with you with any situation that you may have. I've been with them going on eight years now and I normally get my money two days before the first. It always comes on time. But right now, I have a problem with using the app to let me know when my money is deposited.

I like Netspend. I could put money on the card at any time. I could go to a cash check-in place, put money on, and it would be on. Also, I liked that we get paid a couple of days earlier on our Social Security. It's just convenient to have. If my son has an account, I could give him money or he could give me money in the account and it makes it easier.
Two months ago I had to get another card. Southwest took $300-something from me. I don't know what that was about because I've never flown with Southwest. Also, last year was my year of flying for the first time. The reps were very friendly, took their time, did an investigation and I wound up getting my money back. Let Netspend know that you're going on vacation and the spots that you're gonna hit so everything would be okay.

I wish Netspend would tell me more about what I've spent. And if anybody else is probably still trying to get money off my card, I wish I got an alert to do that. Every once in a while, I would do account transfers with my card and the process is not too bad. To put money on my card, I use the load locations which they have all around. And when I load up, my funds are available right then and there. Netspend's reps are also pretty friendly.

Recently, I can't use the transfers because it appears I can only do it from a Netspend card to another Netspend card. I tried it with my bank and my bank said that Netspend has too many numbers in its routing number for them to match. But that's the only hang-up I have, because it would be better rather than me having to go to a store to load it. But their stores are frequent, so it's not like it's out of my way to do it. When I reload at the store, while I'm standing at the register, I hear a noise on my phone that I know it’s Netspend acknowledging the load. It usually says it takes up to 30 minutes or so, but that takes 30 seconds.
If I see a fraudulent charge or another plus, they recognize it before I do, especially if I'm trying to do it online. And they'll stop it then send me a notification. Whenever I see the notification, I take time to look at it. I'll call them and tell them yay or nay. They're really good. I have a 9.95 fee each month and for what I do with Netspend, it's a little steep, but it's okay because I don't pay any other fees to my bank. I prefer that one as opposed to the yearly fee on the card. And if I still have my money coming straight to Netspend, there are no fees other than the one charged for loading.

I've been with Netspend since 2015, and I'm still with them. I haven't had any problems. The only thing I don't like is sometimes, when you order certain things, they don't accept the Netspend card. Also, I downloaded the app, but I keep having problems getting back into it. I don't know what it is, so I just call their number. They charge a fee to their all access card, and that doesn't include the ATM fees. That's why I haven't gotten it yet.

In preparation for taking a trip outside the United States for the first time, I felt more secure having another Visa card with me. NetSpend only allows $500 on each card, so I bought two because I had $850 I wanted to have secure. I activated both cards, and used the first one without trouble. When I tried to use the second one, they informed me that it was locked due to security concerns. I have been attempting to unlock the card for almost 4 months. They continuously ask for more information and refuse to release my funds. Not to make this any longer, I'll end it with a warning never to purchase netspend. They have been sued multiple times in the past for this very reason.

I have been using Netspend for several years. I enjoyed getting my direct deposit early. However there are no longer any free withdrawals. They charge an excessive amount of fees. When they did away with the one free ATM withdrawals and no longer participated in ATM that do not charge their fee, I decided to quit using this card. My son still has his card and today his paycheck has not deposited as scheduled. I am in process of convincing him to change to Chime as I have. Still get my direct deposit early. No ATM fees and no charge from Chime on their end to withdraw my money. This is the third or fourth time recently his direct deposit was delayed. My opinion is you can do better than the Netspend service.

When I put money in, I get a paper receipt from where I'm adding the funds and I also get a text message because I've requested it from Netspend on the transaction. They're very up-to-date and it's like it's their money. They're just really on the ball. I got a call one day and then, an email and it was important saving statement information. Then I got a phone call to review that information but I also got an upgrade on my normal Netspend card to an All-Access card. It seemed to be better protection for me as the consumer. The only concern I have is they're constantly sending me new cards. But it's the same routing number and account number. I'm waiting for my social security to go in for a second time to this card. I've done the direct deposit and it seems to really work well.
Also, a lot of the things I've tried to do do not take the Netspend card. There was one that wanted a bank debit card and I told them this is a bank debit card but they argued that. Other than that, when I call in and talk to somebody, they're fabulous and very courteous. They understand what I'm asking for and what I'm saying. I have no problem calling them with any question either. If I'm having any issues, they resolve them if they have the capability. If not, they refer me to a department that can come up with a resolution.

I have been with Netspend for over a decade now. Everything has been easy convenient. I like their alerts. I like when I know I spend money. However I recently had an issue with $283 being taken out of my account. Being a single mother with a spouse that recently passed a year ago I am the only Sole provider for me and my four children, When I called customer service to file the dispute I successfully did that and I successfully emailed the complaint with the dispute so I could get the money returned and be eligible for alone for my money, All the customer service agents did not care. I could barely understand what they were saying. I patiently waited.
I would be more than enough time to call a merchant who fraudulently took out money from my account, however, when I called back and explained to them that I had a bill I had to pay for daycare, and if I did not pay that my kids could not go to school and I could not go to work they told me they escalated it and I would have my money deposited by that evening at the latest latest, The morning and I did not have my money so I called customer service who was very rude. Rude, did not care about my situation. Nonchalant. Told them I needed to speak to a supervisor and of course I was very upset because I am now on the verge of losing my job because I still have no money returned. Nothing looked at and it’s been over a week. Department was told to wait till the 17th because they had procedures and 10 day limit.
I feel like this situation has been so frustrating especially being a customer for over 10 years. I cannot imagine them being in the situation and not getting a quick resolution. Hung up with still no resolution but told I have to wait and who knows how long that will be but now I will be without a job thank you net spend. This Has been a painful and exhausting experience with no resolution in sight.

I've been with Netspend for six years. My issue with them is they have an All-Access card. It allows if I have an overdraft. It makes banking easier. So, I have called Netspend five times requesting one, but I have not received one. It's almost like a racist issue. I would call a certain number, I would have to go through 1000 prompts just to speak with someone, and I would have to ask them All-Access card. They don't have one. I would go through pure hell. I would have to go from one prompt to the next. I almost have to go through something like I am disputing a transaction just to get someone on the line. It's hard to speak to an actual person. Even with chat, I would end up waiting forever and get discouraged.
When I finally spoke to someone, he said, "You need to go on the internet and do it that way." I said, "I'm on the phone with you. You're supposed to be a supervisor." It's not something that's available. I still have Netspend and still don't know why I don't have an All-Access card yet. They increased their fees to $4 for any transaction. It's a lot, but it has been a while. Had I had that All-Access card, it wouldn't have been much. I would have one overdraft. And I was hurt by that.

I was going through identity problems because my identity was stolen back in 2022 and I applied for a Netspend card because I thought it would be easier for me to use since I don't have a bank account of my own. So I figured, if I just use the Netspend card, I'll be able to get my direct deposits on time and receive some income that way. But I haven't used the card at all since this occurred and I'm still been having identity issues. My current address is in the back of my driver's license and I've sent pictures of it. They kept rejecting it. I've sent my social security information and they rejected that as well.
They're telling me that I need a utility bill regarding my current address, but I don't pay utilities where I'm at. I live with my fiancé and the whole place is in his name. I receive mail from my address, so I sent that over. I've sent my W-2s and I've sent my account transcript from the IRS with my current current address, but they still declined me. The customer service reps have been trying to do everything to help but they're still not giving me the green button to verify my account no matter how many times I provided the same information. They also told me that I need to provide a phone statement. I have a phone but I have the ACP program, so I have a statement from them and I sent that over to Netspend. But I haven't heard back from them at all since then and I've been waiting for this for a couple weeks now.

My card was misused without my permission. Every time I called Netspend, I was asked the same security questions. Sometimes the answers were correct, and sometimes they were incorrect. I tried to explain this to the person I was speaking with, and finally had to ask for a superior in charge. I believe they were upset and finally told me that they came to a conclusion that no wrongdoing was found. I totally disagree with their findings, as when I misplaced my card, I had moved out of town, and my card was being used in the surrounding cities where I use to live. Money was removed via a.t.m.'s and at the "highest" amount allowed. This should have been an immediate "red flag"! Ultimately, I am out over $1,000, and I feel that the decision was made without proper investigation. I am very unhappy with the procedures of Netspend, and may look into different means of whom I use as a financial institution.

I have had NetSpend since about 2001 up until a couple months ago and I used it a lot up until my pay check came in mail box. Just out of the blue they closed my account without no warning. I called them and they said it was because of too much online gambling. I have never gambled online with my money. Never. Not with NetSpend account or any other bank account and besides it's my money. Why should it matter to them what I do with my money. So be careful.

My card was hacked 4 times in 2 months...no money lost but each card was hacked, and except for the last card I paid $29 dollars for express shipping....I don't need to say more. My advice to Netspend is to stop hackers from obtaining the card numbers within 2 to 4 days of my receiving it. If you can't secure my funds why would I use you.

Netspend is awesome. I've had my card a while. Very informative, helpful, secure. I would recommend this card to everyone I know. A great card for saving money, grocery shopping, paying bills, buying items, if needing help a representative is always available, privacy is key. I learned about netspend through advertisement and continue sending information to family and friends.

I found a way to earn interest in your Savings and not pay a monthly fee, and that is with the Prepaid account. Currently, you can only get it through local check cashing places and other stores. If you not apply for direct deposit, you can use the convenience of a check cashing place to reload your NetSpend card. It is one of the more popular brands to hold your money. The current 6% interest stands until exceeding 2,000. I love NetSpend. In some cases, you can connect it to your CashApp and other main banks.

I love this card. Been using it since 2014. Would recommend it to anyone who asks. Any color you want for your card it’s awesome plus they let me know every transaction that I make where and when. Just love it. Thank you. Will always keep this card. Great security too. They have great customer service. Also so kind and helpful on any situation or questions you may have.

I really have enjoyed using Netspend over the years. I have used the app, notifications, mobile check upload and several other features. It makes it so much easier to use them when you know that they are accurate and backed up by great customer service. I have had few issues with netspend and when I do it is very easily fixed.

Average rebates, affordable monthly fee, and somewhat reliable card are the pros.. The long list of cons starts with the extremely non empathetic support team and the company's complete refusal to dispute unlawful charges. Very disappointed with this card and it's been a half decade with them nearly and no real improvements or changes. This debit card and the Pathward bank associated are also not accepted at many places, important to note..

In the beginning, Netspend was fabulous but then it turned into an adventure from hell. People started accessing my account, and money was disappearing. Then when I reported to Netspend, they gave me issues with refunding me my money. They took a while to give me my money back. So, what I did was just stop using the card all together. Customer support was horrible. I noticed now that most customer service reps are foreigners and I have no taste for it. Also, when I asked, they did not tell me how people were able to get in my account. Over 50 transactions were taken out on my card the last time. When I questioned how that happened, the person was very nonchalant, non-caring and talking about how I needed to email them all the transactions. They could see those right on my account and I was very frustrated and I couldn't understand why I needed to send those to them again.

I've been using Netspend for years on and off. It's simple direct deposit. The only thing I don't like about it is when I have to overdraft, I only have a $10 limit. Sometimes I need a little more than that for gas. But other than that, my check comes two days faster and that's really convenient to be able to have that. But it's very inconsistent. Sometimes I'll get my direct deposit at 10:30 at night and sometimes I'll get it at 9:00 in the morning. But anytime I've ever called with an issue, they get it resolved quickly.
I also have my phone number go off anytime a transaction has been made. Anytime I get my direct deposit, it goes off. So that's pretty nice too. I've also had the offer a couple of times for All-Access, but I've never really gone through with it. Then, I called a couple of weeks ago about enrolling in the All-Access to try it out and they said that I couldn't because I have a secondary card on my account. I said, "Okay. I just need to take the secondary card off and hopefully go through with it." But if the All-Access account was able to have a secondary card, that would be helpful.

I like that I can do the online stuff with NetSpend. When I upgraded to the 9.99 plan to where I didn't have to worry about getting charged fees every time I used the card, it made it like a debit card now. I can use it anywhere. Also, I noticed there's a feature on there where I can see how I'm spending my money. I like that part too. I also get the Anytime Alerts every time I spend money. It tells me my balance. That is very helpful in regards to knowing where my money is. However, I have automatic payments that come out. So I have to be careful with that, not to think that I have money in the bank when I have an automatic payment coming out. But the Anytime Alerts are amazing. Their customer service is excellent as well.

I used my card for verification and I was charged again $1.95 after I talked to one of your representative just last week - I paid the $5 that she recommended - so I would not be charged 1.95 - that was on the 23rd of April - I already lost money because I didn't know about the $5 monthly plan - I have SS & it's not a lot so when I get charged every time I use your card I feel like I got taken to the cleaners so to speak - I would just like to know that my money is mine and I will pay the $5 every month but I can't afford that extra money for using the card - don't make a lot and I have bills to pay - every penny counts to me - thank you for your time and I apologize for such a long response.
