I bought a Green Dot card back in Sept. of 2015, and like the rest of you the card did not work and then it turned into the same garbage stuff from Green Dot. I went back to Dollar Tree for a refund but the manager said, "No way." I was going to get the Attorney General of MN involved with this but first I wrote Dollar Tree a nice letter stating that it will cost them more than the $101 that I paid their store for this and once the state gets this you will have a black eye out of this. Yesterday I got a letter with a check from Dollar Tree for $101 so I thought, "Great."
My suggestion to all of you people who have been ripped of by Green Dot bank is to file a case with your state's Attorney General and go after these rip-off artists. This is either bait and switch or outright fraud. MAKE THEM PAY. THE MORE NOISE YOU MAKE THE FASTER YOU WILL GET YOUR MONEY BACK! It worked for me.

I purchased a card in the local CVS on 9/11/15. I loaded it with 500.00 and when I tried to use it a couple hours later to pay bills it declined. I then went to the website to see to register the card that I thought was already activated when I bought it. It kept searching a while then I called the Green Dot company to see why I couldn't use the card. I was told to send receipts and they would clear it up. Call back a few days constantly I was transferred all over, hung up on, accused of giving the card number to someone in New York. Then, on 10/21/15 I received a call from Green Dot saying that the site was hacked when registering the card. Which after reading the other posts, this company is performing scams on innocent people and lying to the customers because we can't afford to pursue a case. This needs to end. In the end I can't get my money back - $500.00 of my hard earned dollars.

On 10/09/2015 I purchase a Green Dot prepaid master card to give it to my wife as a gift at my local Walgreens, and came home and followed the register on my card. After I registered the card, I tried to access the card in less than 15 min. It said the information is incorrect. I then tried to contact the customer service number on the back of the card for hours and got no one. The following day I finally got someone calling from a different card customer service number and they told me that I had made a purchase for 370.00 the same amount I put on the card when I purchased it the night before. I told them the only thing I did was activated the card. The person I spoke to told me the transaction was still pending and she will stop the card and the transaction.
Here I am today 10/22/2015, the customer service from green dot corporation gave me a case number and asked me to email a copy of the receipt and a copy of the card that I purchased to help solve the problem. Well today I called to find out about my money (370.00) and the customer service rep from green dot corporation, told me that the money was gone and they were not going to refund me. I asked him "what do you mean it's gone sir". He replied someone made a purchase on the card but they could not provide me with whoever because the card I purchase was in someone else's information.
So I needed to go to the police department to file a report for theft, after all this the customer service rep from the corp, told me they did received the copy of my receipt and card, but he questioned me and made me feel like this was all my doing. He asked me why didn't I go to western union to send money to my wife, or why didn't I go walmart? Why did I purchase a prepaid card? How rude disrespectful of him to question me on how to go about my money? Then he proceeded to question me like I was the criminal.
I felt so insulted, and robbed, so their solution was "oh well sir your money is gone and we can't do anything about it, neither can you. Go to the police department and handle it that way!!!" Whoever sees this review before purchasing this card please don't do it. You are giving your money to whoever for green dot and they will continue to steal from the hard working. And they will not back up anything. They are washing their hands from it. Don't don't don't buy any green dot cards, don't let this happen to you.

I purchased and loaded a Green Dot Prepaid Visa Card earlier this summer. I thought it would be a good idea to have a card I could put some money onto for vacations, to be safe, and to not always have to use my checking card. I was wrong. I was quickly hit with a "load" fee of $4.95. I was only "loading" $20.00 onto the card, I figured that was pretty expensive, but understood the process.
I did not use the card for roughly 4 months, I went to "reload" my card, and noticed my account was negative -$24.00'sh. I realized that whether you use or do not use the card, they charge you $5.95 a month. I called up and asked why was I charged and the lady (Indian accent) was very unhelpful, basically just said that you are charged a monthly fee even if you do not use the card. To avoid the fee, you must deposit $1,000 or more or make 45+ purchases with the card a month. I laughed.
I asked her why was I not notified of these fees, especially after the first month or two. She went back to her handbook-guideline-script and gave me the same answer as above... you must use the card 40+ times, deposit $1,000, etc. I asked her AGAIN in another way, "What would have happened if I never used this card again, would you just continuously charge me over and over, until I was possibly negative hundreds of dollars?" She did not have an answer, she went back to her script. I asked her, "How can you not notify your customers/users of this charge? Why did I not receive an email, a phone call, or even a snail mail with a statement letting me know I owed this company $20.00+?" I knew the conversation was going nowhere, so I told her to cancel the card before they planned on charging me another $5.95 (as they charge you the monthly fee on the 21st of each month).
If I were rich enough to have $1,000 to put into an account each month I probably would put it into a real bank account. I would recommend these cards for parents who maybe want to give their children a safe card that has a limit on it... But as a somewhat irresponsible adult (I admit it), I highly do NOT recommend these cards. They do not even have the common courtesy to let you know you are being charged a monthly fee, they simply tell you when signing up you must pay a "reload" fee. They tell you that you are a "VIP" member, which means absolutely nothing... They still charge you for "reloads" and "monthly" fees. So unless you have really bad credit, cannot get a real bank account, but make lots of cash and need a card and can afford ridiculous fees that aren't explained or notified to you before signing up... this is the card for you!

Oct 16, 2015, I received an email from Green Dot stating that my card was temporarily disable because of suspected fraudulent activity. I was asked if purchases were made at USA Champion, $1.50 and TARGET in upstate New York for the amount of $650.66. I told them while the transaction was still pending, that I did NOT make ANY purchases AT ALL with my card for a few days. I had my card with me. I reside in Philadelphia. My card info was somehow compromised. Why would GREEN DOT released the funds today, 10/20/2015 after I disputed the charge! I called to complain after I viewed my online acct info and I was told to file a dispute which could take 10 days or more!! So, wtf did I do Saturday when I called? I was told to cancel my card and Target has until Friday 10/23/2015 to reverse the charge.
Well I got a different story today. I had to file a dispute by phone and submit a written dispute form by mail or fax!! I asked for a Supervisor and I was told by Nicole that I was at the highest level of escalation! They are NO HELP when trying to get your money back. I can't believe GREEN DOT still let the charge go through AFTER I reported it the same day the transaction was made. Why NOT put the funds on a hard hold until it was completely investigated! Why should I have to go through such hassle with several different people who I can barely understand while speaking, just to get MY money refunded. I am beyond pissed right now. I have several bills pending payment and face shut off within 5days if not paid. How can I pay without MY Money that GREEN DOT let go through after reported. I want my money back like RIGHT NOW!

I've been a Green Dot customer for a year. I was mostly happy with them. Then the other day I called to have a transaction halted, because there was a mistake in how much they charged me. Instead of halting the one transaction they froze the card even though I asked them not to. I told them if freezing the card was the only way to halt the transaction just let it go through and I'll get the money back from the company. They insisted on closing down the card anyway. Then told me it would be 2 weeks before I could get a new card. I explained I needed the money for bills and such. So they instructed me to buy a new Green Dot card and transfer funds to it.
I did as instructed then when I tried to transfer funds they told me I couldn't - I bought it from the wrong retailer. I asked beforehand and was told I could get one anywhere. Then told sorry I'd been told that but it was wrong, but if I paid them $15 they would expedite the card in 5 days. So I give in and agree to pay then they tell me they can't do that because the person who blocked my card didn't finish the process so I had to call back in a day or two after the process was complete. I will never go through Green Dot again.

An unauthorized transaction was done on my Green Dot card (**). When I called to disputed the $27.17 charge, they canceled the card without my consent as they said at their discretion they can choose to cancel and reissue the card. When I questioned that practice (as it didn't give me enough time to withdraw the remaining balance) they also suspended the whole account; therefore I am also not allowed to use bill pay (using the routing # and checking account #) until I get the card 2 weeks from now. Also suspended access to my account.. There now remains a balance of 65.17. Should have been a little over $100 in there w/o the unauthorized transaction from the other company. That is money I needed to pay my electric bill today. Guess I will be sitting in the dark for 2 wks. Oh did I mention they said it will not affect my direct deposit?? How convenient for them. :/
They showed very little regard to my situation, that my power would be cut off or anything else for that matter. When you call them they all advise they're (Supervisors). When you ask for corporate office they say there is no way to contact them by phone. And that even the reversal of the unauthorized transaction will be on October 27th. which will be way past the time that my electric service will be disconnected.

I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card 10/14/15 at Rite Aid Pharmacy. I had the cashier to download $375.00 on the card. When I arrived home I registered/activate the card. Waited one hour before trying to use the card, which was declined because the zip code was supposedly wrong. I call the number on the back of the card which was an automotive service and I was unable to gain access because now my birthday didn't match the card number. Not knowing what else to do I went back to Rite Aid, explained the situation to the cashier, swiped the card and it said no funds was available. The manager called the retail number and was told it sometimes take twenty four hours before funds are available. Well as you guess they were never made available and every time I speak to someone they say they can't help me because the information doesn't match the card which I know is untrue.
I do know my name, date of birth, zip code and social security number. The manager in so many words tells me they can't investigate where my $375.00 disappeared to because my birthday doesn't match the card. First zip code now birthday. If this happens often to people and they take no responsibility or make no time to track the monies they company is making millions in untracked funds alone. Some legal actions need to be taken so they will become helpful to finding out what's happening with lost funds instead of telling you your zip code or birthday doesn't match and you have to take that lost. I don't want to take that lost!!!

Some years ago, I began to use a thing called the Walmart money card. It became an important convenience in my life, making small purchases, especially on eBay, and related kind of things. Lately, Green Dot bank has stolen my hard earned money, and otherwise has acted like thieves, and thugs. Sometime back, I had some sort of problem registering a new temporary card. The next day, I found - frighteningly - that they had blocked my temporary card. They said that I could not reload the card, nor, could I convert the card to a permanent card. Also, that I could only make purchases, but that I could not have access to my own hard earned money.
In the law, at least in the United States, that is felony theft, by conversion. I made a big mistake by presuming that this was simply a "fluke". It was not a "fluke". Green Dot bank is systematically stealing and converting money that does not belong to them. Further: there is no way, at least, that I can discover, that a so-called customer can reach them for a conversation about one's account. Further evidence that these thugs are just that: crooks, and thugs.

I called customer service to see why my card was not working and they told me my money was gone because there's a site that looks just like theirs that I went to and they hacked my card. If the activation site is on Green Dot then how do they activate it before me?
Customer Service told me it was not their concern, "your money's gone." I demanded a manager, I got a pretend supervisor. I asked for a manager and I got a callback by another supervisor that said she could look into it and call me Monday. I got her badge # and I asked for an actual manager to call me. She said she would try but she will call me Monday after she researched it Monday. I can't believe they know about it but they don't warn people buying their cards to know it. But not until this last time on 9/18/15, have we ever had an issue, besides the hidden fees/charges. I put $100.00 on the card, plus their fee of $2.95, then proceeded to register it online, since the sticker over the card numbers said I had to do prior to use! The manager at the store tried to help me with the 1-800- number on the back of the card get assistance. The manager could not get any assistance either. The manager told me she was sorry someone sold me the card because she would not have sold me the card because of things like this.
Last night I verified my funds before I drove to Wal-Mart to put gas in my car. I put the card into the pump and my pin which worked until I pushed "no" for printed receipt. Then the pump wouldn't allow me to get gas. No idea why. I went to the clerk and she tried to be helpful. She could see that I had not pumped gas. She got the store manager to come out to assist. We both called the 1-800 number on the back of the card and explained what happened. Customer service refused to help. Just keep repeating the same thing over and over again. I asked to speak to a manager and the customer service person refused for at least an hour. The rep told me she could see my money in the pending status but would not cancel the transaction. She told me I would have to wait 8 days to get my money back. I asked her what company she worked for and for a long time she refused to tell me.
Finally she told me "Wal-Mart". Finally after insisting on speaking to a manager for an hour she put me on hold and left me there for a while then came back and said there is no one for me to talk to. When asked when I could speak to a manager she would not tell me. I finally got someone on the phone that claimed to be a manager who became rude. She offered me $10.00 credit which I did not take but that shows me she could have credited my account. She finally told me the company is Green Dot. I am 60 yo and never been treated like that. I was embarrassed in front of other customers and Wal-Mart employees. Green Dot is a very POOR rep for Wal-Mart. I will not shop at Wal-Mart again until this is addressed.

I called them and they told me to wait two weeks and then file a complaint. I got the name of the company that supposedly charged my card and I called them. They immediately fixed the problem and attempted to put the money back on my card... But instead I find out that Green Dot canceled my card without me asking or knowing about it and now they can't even put the refund back on the card!!! The ten days starts over again everyday. I am going to have to get an attorney to get my own money back. They also hang up on me. Due to this situation I will NEVER shop at Walmart again either. First off, if I could give this company no stars I would do so. This COMPANY IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF. My father, who is mentally incompetent bought this card from Dollar Tree today and added $120.00. My Father called customer service, and tried to activate the card, but couldn't because of 'technical difficulties'. He was immediately transferred to customer service "WHICH SUCKS", and they told him that they did not know why this was occurring, but he could register his prepaid card online; he asked me to please activate it online and I did so.
As I was registering this card, I noticed it asked for your name, D.O.B., S.S. # and address. I then became ANGRY and could not understand why It asked such information. I entered the information they asked and of course the website said "we are having technical difficulties and try again later". I don't understand what their purpose is; word of advice, buy your prepaid card at CVS or another place other than Dollar Tree and make sure it's not GREEN DOT!

The lady said she put in for the money to be back on the card today. Even gave me a reference number. Still no money today on the card.
Called them back today, was told that now even though they can see the rental truck company released the money back to the card I can't access it until I have them email a letter on their letterhead with authorization codes and card numbers and approx 10 other items on it and if they don't do it they will hold the money for 2 months and take the monthly fees out of it for having the card. The truck place said they can only do this if Green Dot calls and requests it and Green Dot told me they can't call so I have to wait 2 months for my money. They need to be sued or shut down. Plus I found out I had to pay a stupid monthly fee to use the card and get another one mailed to me. As I heard that the total amount I only had was $8.01. I did get upset because it was my first time using it.
I called and the lady explained why the reason. I told her I was not aware that this company would do this and charge and take out money for not even using the card and I explained it was my first time using it. The lady just kept telling me that that's how they work and if I don't have $1700.00 coming in I will be charged every month $5.00 so anytime I'd put money it would not be there because this company eats it up and doesn't let you know!!!
I was very upset that she said "I can only help you on getting your one monthly fee of $5.00 back but you can only use your amount of $8.01 and then you'll have in three business days your $5.00." So I asked her what happens if I'm not working and I want to put any lil money I may have. She said "it would be taken away because they charge $5.00 every month if you use it or not." So I told her I was not happy with the situation and to cancel my card service. The lady did close the account but yet I'm only allowed to spend my $8.01 and that's that.
I will tell everyone who reads this here Pls Don't get this card and Don't believe what they say or put out there in their webpage. They're stealing money straight out from you and they don't give it back. They only care for their company. Be aware. I ordered something from overstock.com, a company that I have done business with over the course of several years and several times. I have never, ever had a problem with overstock. I also ordered vitamins from HiHealth using my Green Dot card to make both purchases. The orders were placed on Aug. 14 after placing $100 on my card. A day later I received confirmation for my orders from both companies and the next day received the order shipping notices and tracking numbers. On Aug 19 I used the Green Dot card to purchase gas for my car and the card was refused due to lack of funds. Prior to this I had received a notice via email from Green Dot stating I had a balance of $32 and some change.
I immediately went home, got online to the green dot site to check my account and found that I had a double withdrawal for both purchases I made online. I contacted green dot by phone and was told that HiHealth had billed me 3 times for the same order. I immediately used my phone to contact Overstock, which was quite painless because you get to a live person quite quickly. I related my concern to them and was told that there was no double billing on their part and no double order, my products had been shipped and I should expect them any day. That was fine with me because I have done a lot of business with them and have never had any problems. I then placed a phone call to HiHealth and again was connected to a courteous person that also told me my order was shipped as normal, the amount I was billed and assured me there was no double or triple billing and I would be receiving my order.
I just wanted to make sure the company I ordered from got paid, and my products were shipped, and there were no double billing on their part. I contacted green dot again and with great fury proceeded to tell them they were liars. There is no double billing by either company and they did not pay the companies twice, so why was my card billed two times for the same orders on different days. All I can tell you is they say my money will be refunded to the card within 10 days. They never admitted any wrongdoing. They never apologized, never offered any compensation. I will tell you that I suspect they have an accounting practices problem or the people that handle your money simply are incompetent and do not know how to work with their accounting program. Needless to say there is a monthly maint. fee associated with the green dot card of approx $6. So we are paying someone $6 a month to screw up our account!
Forget about their customer service, they are just fraudulent in their explanations about what happens with your money and do not accept any responsibility. One more thing I almost forgot. The person from green dot told me the companies had billed me 2 times and I told them I wanted an email from them stating that fact. I have not received any email nor do I expect one, again another lie from the irresponsible people at green dot. I suspect the company has a call center in India somewhere because that's who it sounded like I was dealing with on the phone. We felt that this was a bit long, but accepted those terms since we were not using a credit card.
As of this date (8/17/2015) we have yet to receive the deposit back. The rental car company sent us a letter releasing the funds, and we forwarded the letter to Green Dot last week in hopes of expediting the process. The rep indicated that we should have our money within 48 hours. Today makes 72 hours and no money. My husband made contact with a supervisor today and was told that because the rental car company only sent a letter on their letterhead but no one actually signed the letter, the refund cannot be authorized until September 15, 2015! So we have to go back to the rental car company and ask them to email a signed letter on their company letterhead. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!
Today we have to have a signed letter to get our money but it's okay to have an unsigned letter in 30 more days? I cannot figure out the practices of this crazy company. The Green Dot Card is NOT a gift card, to be fair - it is for people who have difficulty getting bank accounts or credit. The Green Dot Card is meant to be used like your ATM debit bank account, often for purchases and some type of direct deposit that occurs at least once a month. It prompts you for the personal info due to they send a personalized card and you create a PIN #. If you do not plan on reloading, I suggest you activate appropriately, receive your personal card, then deactivate to avoid those fees. And yes there are people in America who still have bad credit and cannot obtain accounts, thanks to ex-husbands from hell. I ordered a part from Amazon using my Green Dot card. A few hours after they took the money I received an email saying my order was cancelled due to them not having the part. I noticed the money was not yet back on my card. So I proceeded to call Green Dot customer service. They told me I had to wait 7-10 business days to get the money back on card. So I asked to speak to a supervisor and was on hold for more than 30 min with them telling me that they couldn't find one. Which makes no sense since they employ 600 people.
Once I finally spoke to a supervisor she told me I will not get my money until Aug 21st. They charge you 4.95$ to get the card, 4.95$ to add money, and a 4.95 monthly fee and yet we have to wait almost 2 weeks for a mistake not done by me. Besides the fact you can't understand a word anyone says when you call because of all their heavy Indian accents. I'm very upset and mad at this co. It's not worth the aggravation. If I would have known I'd never have got the card. Even after I explained that I needed the money to order the part for my car all they could say was there is nothing they could do.

It was not, I was given a special number and talked with Green Dot. They assured they would send a refund expedited by FedEx. I have not received. I call today 8/10, they gave me a bogus website/email to send a copy of the receipt to. I put $350.00 on that card and have no idea what has happened to the funds. Today I made another transfer using the same method and received the same confirmation email. Only this time I check my balance. Funny thing is that the transfer I made today posted on my account but the one I made yesterday never even showed up. So I call customer service and ask about it. They saw where the transfer was made but couldn't explain to me why it didn't post. They end up telling me that I have to wait 11 business days and it "might" post to my account or it "might" go back to the account that it was originally sent from and that I would have to try the process again. WOW! Great job Green Dot. That's how you make a customer happy.

I got the card because I didn't want to use my credit card on internet and it was to use overseas. When you call in for declined purchases they ask for last 4 digits of card only to be told it's not a valid number. So you must put in 4 numbers again also says it's not valid. So you are asked for all 15 numbers and another security question. That's the only way recording will let you into your account. So it's every time you call in.. Then you punch correct number for declined purchase which robot tells you but hard to understand. I called Saturday and they assured me it could be used in other countries.
I have been trying for nearly 2 weeks and they will not process it. I've tried to call several times and there is no human to speak to so there is no one to clarify overseas usage. Several folks have tried to help to no avail. One lady said some cards need a code to do this. But since there is no human, it's still not going through. There is nothing online I can find and I'm losing money. I sent an e-mail but no answer or failed mail. Can anything be done. They charge me every time I call in whether I get any help or not.

I couldn't return it back to the store bc once you purchase a credit card it's final. I called customer care and tried to activate it so I can cash out my money at an ATM. I was told that I wouldn't be receiving a personalized card in the mail due to "issues". So I asked for a refund and the representative said it would take 2 weeks for my check to come in the mail. Everything went well that is until I never received my check.
I called back to ask what had happened but I couldn't get past the operated system to a representative. It would ask for my card number and as I was done entering it it would tell me "your refund has been sent" then it would click on me. I called back multiple times to get through a representative but no success. I searched for an email address to write to but no luck. Green Dot has 6 different #'s and they all are the same. I'm worried that I won't see my money ever again and I can't contact them without a activated card. Green Dot needs to make some changes. I purchased a Green Dot prepaid card on 7/9/2015 from Wal-Mart. I attempted to activate the card immediately after I loaded $258.12. I called 1-888-280-8273 the activation number listed on the front of the card. When I called that number, I was advised that I have an invalid card number. I attempted 6-7 times, same message. I attempted to reach a customer service representative, and no luck with reaching one. It kept routing me through the activation automatic system. I returned back to Wal-Mart. No more than 10 minutes after leaving the store and attempting to activate the card, and the manager of the store was not willing to give the refund, since the card was loaded already.
On 7/10/2015, I researched and found another customer service number. I tricked the automatic system, and was transferred to a live representative, in which the customer service call center is outsourced in INDIA, so you're speaking to an INDIAN representative. After explaining my situation, I was given a case #, and was asked to email a copy of the Wal-Mart receipt, and a copy of the front & back of the card. I emailed the docs to verifymydocs@greendot.com right away on 7/10/15. I've called daily since 7/10/2015, and keep getting the message, that my case is still in review to allow one business day for follow up.
It's been 5 days and still no results. I am demanding a refund. I do not want another card at this point. This bank is a scam, and I pray that everyone is deemed their money that they have stolen from us all! I will take this matter to a small claim court to redeem my funds, and I am suing for heartache and pain, fees for missed bills that I intended to pay with the $258.12, and time off from work to handle this matter. They are going to owe me more than $258.12 when all they simply had to do is return my money. Wal-Mart will also be involved in this suit as they should not be affiliated, nor sell fraudulent bank cards to their customers.

I couldn't cancel or even question activity on the card. I had gotten a hold of someone on another number and filed a claim and the email address was not valid when I tried sending it. I have call logs of how many times I tried reaching someone and I have email copies where I tried filing a fraud claim.

I attempted to reload my card and after several attempts the associate in the store said she was unable to do so and suggested that I call customer service. When I attempted to log in I repeatedly got a message the card number was invalid then I got in. Same issue entering my SSN. At that point I knew the system was wrong. Needless to say I still have an issue and there is no way to reach someone to help resolve the matter this after 48 hours in spite of the fact I have money on the card. The absence of a dedicated customer service team/number is appalling and a disgrace to a company like Green Dot. Broken system and no easy communication forces me to say take your business and hard earned money elsewhere. You'll never get the help you need - not here that is.

I called customer support cause I was concerned about charges on my account that I did not make. After being on the phone with them for over an hour they advised me to go clear out my account but I told them I would be the one to close it. Apparently they went ahead and closed it and when my payroll check was deposited it was not made available to me. They said it could take up to 2 business days to be returned back to my employer and that there was nothing else they can do so I'm stuck with no paycheck and they have my money with it to go nowhere.
When I called to check my balance on my card it had a pending deposit. Tried calling customer support several times through the automated helpline it kept hanging up on me. Customer service I give 2 thumbs down, you can't understand them and it feels like they can't understand you and sound pre-recorded not able to be helpful at all. I'm closing my account completely and done with green.

So I called for 2 days trying to get a human and finally after 3 hours I finally got a hold of someone and all they did was transfer me from one rep to another and another without answering any questions. The last lady I spoke with told me they would send me all the information in the mail but yet they had the wrong address. I told her I have the right to know what this "suspicious" activity is. So put me on hold for 20 mins and never came back so I hung up. So I still don't know what the problem really is. Green Dot is a bunch of crooks.

To get info regarding the details of this they requested several documents from me that I faxed 3 times & mailed certified letter via US post office to be told each time these items were never received, to later have this company decided to block my good standing accounts due to "so called" suspicious activity, when I've complained & requested managers. Now when I call to follow up with their fraud/investigation department when I enter my card numbers recording comes to say account closed and that I could never do business with them. Yet I've only been trying to find out why this card was received and to why my accounts have been blocked because of it.
They have not honored nor complied with their rules on getting this matter resolved. They now have all of my personal information… including copies of ID'S to now not be able to get in touch with any of them regarding my good standing accounts that never had a problem. This information has now been forwarded to police & now seeking attorney based on principal and the fact they have my info yet claiming was never received. Absolute disaster to deal with. Had an ATM go down during a transaction and the money was withdrawn from the account. Called the bank it happened at and they reversed the charges and I called them to let them know what happened. Money was credited to my account the next day and after I withdrew the money they posted a fraudulent second charge with no approval code on it. They could not give me the code now. The account went into the negative. Impossible for a prepaid card, they are now holding my child support payments against that amount until it is resolved. They admit it is an error but will not credit my account for two weeks and if it does not I have to wait an additional month.
I went to the bank the transaction happened at and they said there is no second charge and later found out that they sent an email and code and posted the refund to my account after I withdrew the amount. They posted a second charge (Green Dot). This is theft and all they say is after 14 days I can have it investigated. This is a Green Dot issue and they admit it but why are they holding my money. Do not use this card - there are other prepaid cards that are much better. This is a scam. I have spoke to ten different people and gotten ten different explanations. Please shut this company down. I called GREEN DOT to dispute the charge, and the person I spoke with said the "policy" of the company was to cancel card immediately, and send a new card/acct number. I told her that I did NOT want the card cancelled because I had other transactions ordered before the dispute, that had not been completed. She assured me that those transactions would be honored. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. When I called to find out why the outstanding charges were NOT honored as assured, I was then told, again, about the "policy" of immediate cancellation whenever a dispute occurred.
Frustrated, I cancelled the account totally, and told them to mail my refund immediately. I was told that they would send me a check as soon as the pending charges were completed. HUH??? I told the person I was speaking to "How is that possible, since you already said it was your policy not to honor transactions when a card is cancelled due to a disputed charge? My orders have already been rejected. I want every dime without a loss of one penny." I was assured that my check would be mailed that day (April 22, 2015), and that I would receive it May 4, 2015.
I checked again TODAY, April 29, and was informed that the check was NOT mailed until April 27. The customer service cares nothing about the consumer, they tell me it will take two business days to fix... meanwhile I am left without power in my home. I call again and was "transferred"/hang up three more times.
On my 5 attempt, I just gave the person who answered a piece of my mind and order them not to put me on hold, hangup or transfer me back to the main menu. Finally, I get someone that took my call, wrote all my complain, and gave me a case number for each card that was stolen. He told me that a lock had been place on the funds/cards and instructed me to e-mail the copies of my cards and receipts to "verifymydocs@greendot.com". Bought a 500 reload, went to load on card. It said it was invalid. Contacted customer service, explained I just brought the reload a hr ago, she said I would have to fill out a complaint online which you send copies of everything. Well did that several times. Now I would like to know if we can go after Green Dot and the distributor of their cards. In my case Rite Aid took my money for the reload, so how can my money be used before I load it on my card. They told me the money was already used. So if you can tell me that then you can tell who got the money right. I feel the only way to stop Green Dot is go after them and whoever sell their cards because they are taking our money for Green Dot and not honoring our process of receiving what we suppose to receive which is our money. (A bunch of places said that Green Dot is unsafe anyways). So I went back to 7-Eleven, but I couldn't return it without my receipt, so got it reprinted and called the number for refunds. Once I finally got a "specialist" on the other end, they said they would send the money back in TWO WEEKS. So now I'm waiting for some money that could be refunded over PayPal or something. So, I have had Green Dot for about 4 years, never really had an issue with them. I've had my card blocked for suspicious activity, but one call and the block is lifted. Now however, I am going through something that is really pissing me off with them. On Saturday 3-28-15, I drove off with my card still in a US Bank ATM. The ATM took the card and the following Monday morning, the person that checks the ATM for cards destroyed my card. US Bank says this is their policy. That's fine...whatever.
However, I reported my card lost/Stolen with Green Dot a few minutes after I realized I left it in the machine, that was like 5 minutes after leaving it. I then called Green Dot support just to make sure that the cancellation went through. They assured me that it did, then told me to call back in 24 hours to request the new card. So that's what I did, only they told me I had to wait another 24 hours because I had just then reported the card lost/stolen that day, 3-29-15. I told them that I did it over 24 hours ago, but they said there was nothing they could do. So I call yesterday, 3-30-15 Guess what they tell me? Yep, I have to wait 24 hours because the block was still on there. I was pissed and had a few choice words for the supervisor.
So I call today 3-31-15 and because the block was still on there, I couldn't even get to talk to a live person. So I use the live chat option on their website. That person was the rudest person I have ever talked to. She absolutely did not listen to anything I was telling her, just told me to call support and then ended the chat. I restarted the chat with her which is promptly ended the chat before I could even say anything. The third time she wouldn't even accept the chat request.
Now, I was finally able to get to a live person on the phone by using my second phone (Possible they blocked my phone?) and was finally able to get them to ship it Fedex (FOR A $15 FEE ON TOP OF THE $5 REPLACEMENT CARD FEE) but that still won't be here until possibly the 7th of April...Meanwhile, my rent is due and I have no way of getting to my money. I called Green Dot the end of Jan 5 7 days after my purchase to get nothing but 2 months of run around. I would call - get a reference number for research of the cards. They closed the cases 6 times with no contact to me. SD either they say they didn't get doc, didn't get docs and they were provided me the wrong email to send the docs to. End of March reopen again 7 time to be told now they deactivated the card one of them, and again are to contact me.
This is out of control. The reps are rude - they cut you off mid sentence. And it appears when they send you to another department you just go to the person sitting next to them or the first person you spoke to claiming to be another department now. The supervisor, why even have them they are more useless than the reps, and don't plan on hearing English. The worst, worst worst experience ever in my life. Now give me my $560 you took from me back...

I had my taxes directly deposited to my green dot card. Same day it deposited they blocked my card for fraudulent activity. Said I needed to verify my identity. I sent them everything they asked for. Called to make sure they receive it. They did, 4 days later my card is still blocked. Customer keeps saying I have to wait.

I've spent over a week trying to access my money on the Green Dot card. Last year in July I rented a car from Enterprise a few times. I recently found out that Enterprise no longer accepts Green Dot in my area due to the fact that Green Dot was charging customers twice (Enterprise would run card when you rented car to make sure funds were available and then take the payment when car was returned. Green Dot would charge customer the first day and day car was returned for same amount). Now I have an $800 Bill at Enterprise which already throws red flags because Green Dot is a PREPAID card and I would have been declined the day I tried to rent the car...but because it was ran twice, the Bill went back to Enterprise. I'm now told I have $288 on my card but is frozen.
I attempted to go online to review card history but it won't come up and customer service refuses to tell me why or give me my transaction history. They told me after days of arguing to send bill from Enterprise showing zero balance and my account would be opened. So I did that today and now they are saying it needs to be reviewed and I won't receive money for another 1 to 2 business days. As it is, if they double-charged me then my available balance should be over $800-$1000. I'm begging them to at least unfreeze the Wii since we both agree it's my money and it's my only funds to get my asthma medication. I'm still getting no help and no transaction history. What else can I do?

I inquired about disputing a charge on my card from a recurring payment that was cancelled. They said if I did that, they would have to invalidate my card and send a new one. I told them never mind. I drive a truck and would be gone 1 to 3 months and had no other way to pay bills. Several days later found they had invalidated it anyway. This left me out of states and in a big bind. Cancelled my account and have been trying for four months to get my money. They tell me they are sending it, to wait 3 wks. After 3 wks, no money. Call and the process starts over.
