I used this product on my moustache. Could not believe the burns and blisters I got stayed there for almost 2 weeks. I contacted Just For Men and got a full refund. Should have sued for pain and suffering too. Will never use any of their products anymore.

In January of '14, after 3 years of using this product without any problems whatsoever, I noticed after applying the Jet Black beard and mustache coloring, a stinging burn on my chin. After washing the product off, a dark dye tint remained visible so I ran cold water over my beard for a few minutes. Later on that evening, my chin began to itch, burn, sting and pulsate. My skin became red, swollen and looked as if it was burned. The redness lasted for 4 days and I was very uncomfortable and embarrassed. What happened to this product? Why are so many people reporting the same thing? What is the company going to do to fix the problem? I am a lawyer and want to know!!

I have used Just For Men for about 6 months and no trouble. I purchased a new box two days ago 2/9/14 and applied it the night of 2/10/14. I was woken by itching and burning! Got up the next morning with runny sores and blisters that looked like chemical burns. I had to shave my beard to get some kind of relief but still in pain and itchy. I think if this many people are having issues we need to have a class action on this situation.

I've used Just For Men to tint my beard and mustache and followed the exact directions using it twice over a 60-day period. This first time my lips became chapped and I chalked it up to the weather. However this last time the same exact thing happened and now I have cracked (burned lips) and I felt like I was poisoned almost. Currently no lip balm seem to work. I have a blister on my upper lip as well. I shaved completely and it seemed to feel a little better but the chapped lips are still very painful. It hurts bad enough that I started researching to see if I could find something to fix it and I found this site.

I also noticed the product had changed when mixing it together. I should have trusted my instinct and avoided using it this time. Immediately there was burning and itching. I dealt with it for the first 24 hours, cleaning my face as much as I could and even using lotion to help sooth my face. Today has been even worse. My mustache area has dried out, leaving it numb. Rashes underneath my beard. I'm resisting scratching or rubbing my face due to the intense burn/bumps that follow.

I had the same reaction as others on here - used this product on my beard for a numbers of years no problem - then three weeks ago I came up with a rash and infections - stopped using as I thought it might be a skin rash, never thought of the dye. After a couple of weeks got better and figured it was time to dye my beard again. This time within hours severe burning sensation, itching and now I have blisters and open sores. So I googled and found these complaints. Something has happened with this product. The box I used was newer. There is something seriously wrong and it needs to be taken off the market.

This product has no doubt been changed. I have used it for the last 8 or 9 years and never had a problem. I noticed the formula changed and did not look or smell the same about a month ago. I use it 3 times since then and had very bad itching on my scalp for a week after each use. I'm not using it anymore and suggest everyone else do the same.

I as well was a long time JFM user, until recently. I thought it was just me who suddenly began having adverse reactions after years of use with no apparent problems. I hate the salt and pepper look of my beard, so my wife definitely knew something was wrong when I straight out refused to continue this product. Within hours of application I would be pawing at my face for dear life because of INTENSE itching. Then came the formation of large bumps on my neck area. My beard became dry, brittle and ceased growing. I don't know what happened to this product, but something definitely is amiss!!! Thank you all for sharing your experiences... now I know it's not just me!

This is only the second box of J for M I've tried. The first worked just fine. The second box the formula had obviously changed and so did the results. About 6 or 8 hours after applying my face and neck started itching and heating up horribly. My face swelled up to the point where the skin actually split open. It's been 48 hours now and finally the swelling is going down. Now there are scabs all over my face. I can’t wait to shave off my beard now when this heals up enough. I genuinely feel like I have been poisoned.

I have been using JFM beard dye for 10 years and for most of that time, I thought it served me well. Unfortunately over the last 3 years or so I began to notice a very small patch of skin tone discoloration. At first this was imperceptible and I thought nothing of it. However over a course of time the skin patch in and around my goatee beard slowly became more noticeable and at odds with the rest of my natural skin color. As the the problem became worse I also noticed that the JFM dye was starting to become very problematic causing me to itch uncontrollably. The skin area around my goatee beard became so inflamed as to produce a burning sensation which is undescribable, unless like most of the guys here, you have had the misfortune of experiencing. Nothing would abate the onslaught of torture I endured whilst the itching drove me to claw my face in such an excrutiating and uncontrollable manner.

After many years of using JFM, I finally had to stop using it as the allergic reaction far outweighed my vanity needs. If my affair with JFM ended here it would not be so bad. However the discoloring in and around my beard, mouth, chin, and neck continued to get worse. Not only that, the patches then started to spread to the back of my hands and also my genital area. I soon found out I had Vitiligo. Now it could be one big coincidence but after 2 years of constant research, I am now discovering that a build up of hydrogen peroxide in the human epidermis can cause oxidative stress leading to Vitiligo. As in my case this is not hereditary, fingers crossed, the process will be reversible. I will of course be seeking highly professional medical consultation to establish if there is a connection between my Vitiligo and the prolonged use of JFM over a 10-year period. I hope all of you who have had a bad experience with JFM will post your problems here so we can see the full scope of what may be the tip of the iceberg!

I started using M-55 back in Sept 2013 and was thrilled with the first several applications...no irritation at all....THEN, in Dec of 2013 I noticed the formula didn't look the same when I blended the tubes together. Since then, I have major redness, irritation and bumps like the other men have reported. Something has got be wrong with the lots that have been produced...I am shocked this happened...I was in love with the product when I first started using it. Thanks to all the guys reporting this...the company needs to recall what's out there and figure out what's happened to the formula.

I used it again the a.m. of January 12th and whoa, a horrible itching, inflammation, redness, etc ensued. I then began to associate the symptom to the product and now, having seen this site and comments, I am amazed at the breadth of absolutely common reactions. I was forced to shave my beard off and was shocked to see the skin problems left by this horrible product. I cannot rid myself of the physical skin damages with any over the counter meds. I have an appointment on Tuesday with a skin doctor. If the damage is permanent, I will look to start a class action lawsuit against JFM. I start no shave November and as my facial hair started to grow in, I wanted to clear up my gray. I have used JFM in the last and purchased the same color as I had many times before. When I got home I did the skin test as always and waited as directed. When I went to color in my facial hair after a few minutes I felt burning so I quickly washed it off. I ended up in the ER with blisters all over my face with a clear liquid coming from my pores. My face algae swollen up to two times its size. It did not stop there. The sores from the blistering turned into Staph infection which landing me in the hospital again. The staph infection was so bad that I know have permanent scars on my face as well as several bumps that keep me from ever using a straight razor again. Someone should file a class action law suit and if anyone knows of an attorney to contact can you please let me know. This is crazy, product lawsuits are hard to file because it is not enough money for attorneys. I just don't want anyone to go through what I did. It was horrible. JFM should take their products off the shelves. If I could give them anything lower than 1 star believe me I would.

Wow! I am glad that I found this site and thread. Two days ago, I tried Just For Men for beards. The product provided the expected hair coloring, but my body's physical reaction is the same as others... red skin, severe itching, and white/clear blisters. The only additional symptom is that the left side of my face and under my jaw are swollen. I am not sure why only parts of my face are swollen. My son said the swelling is so severe that it looks as though I had a tooth removed. It appears that the product produced a severe chemical burn and while I have found some minimal relief from applying cold compress, it is only temporary. I agree with others that this product should be removed from shelves and is dangerous.

Then the worst started to happen, this itching and painful sores started to ooze this pus out like a fountain. I've truly been worried how long it takes to go away. Because it hasn't been getting any better and it's been four days. I haven't noticed anyone mention how long it usually takes to clear up. About three months back, in October 2013, I purchased a new box of JFM, M 35, and noticed it did not look the same... like the formula had been changed. Well... I did my normal application of the product, like I always do, making sure I just get the hair, and absolutely nothing else. Suddenly, my skin began to sting, and burn, and act like it was on fire. After 5 minutes, I washed the product from my mustache and goatee, and the stinging got a little better.

The very next morning when I woke up, my lips, were on fire, and I had blisters all over the tops of my lips, and around my goatee hair line... Then, I knew there was something wrong, or different, about the product. I began using lip salve, Carmex, and anything that would relieve the burning, and heal my lip blisters. It took about a month for my lips to completely heal. I told my hair dresser about it, and she said, "Quit using the product".

About another month passed, and I needed more color on my mustache, and goatee. So, on December 1st, I completed another application on my mustache, and goatee, and the exact same burning, and stinging began to happen, and so I washed the product off after the 5-minute time limit. It is now Sunday, December the 15th. 2013, TWO WEEKS AFTER THE LAST APPLICATION, and my lips still have small blisters that are fluid filled, and I am using tons of lip balm, because my lips burn so bad. Partly because of my scratching constantly to alleviate the itching, my face started to bleed. I discontinued using JFM weeks ago. A couple of years ago, I used JFM on my beard and mustache and it worked fine without any itchiness or facial irritation. Then a few months ago, I tried a lighter color so that it wasn't so apparent that I colored my beard. That evening and for the next 6-7 days my face started breaking out with small blisters and the itching was unbearable. I tried anti-itch creams, Aloe, etc. nothing helped. I assume they changed the formula and aren't telling.

A few weeks after...I thought maybe I applied too much, so about a month later "stupid me" did it again because my vanity was dictating to my logic side, "maybe less will work better". So I used half the recommended amount and then diluted the mix with the some water to further reduce the possibility of irritation and blisters. I guess looking back now I know why chemistry was not one of my best subjects. Boy, talk about facial fireworks. NEVER AGAIN!!!

THE CURE...Don't Use JUST FOR MEN Products. THE ANSWER...I discovered other products that are Henna based that do a fine job. Many health and beauty product stores sell all natural products that work great without the nasty side-effects. I now use Surya Brasil Henna Cream, which is sold in Whole Foods... which I have no connection with either company.

I take two shades - one lighter and the next shade up - and start with the lighter (can always go darker) using a toothbrush I apply it. Typically they recommend that you keep it on for 30-60 minutes, however I tested it the first time for 20 minutes and found it work well. No blistering, irritation or itching. After a few applications you'll figure out what works best for you. I’m more surprised to find in this day and age that the governing agencies ignore the many men that have complained about JFM products. JFM should be removed from the market. I had spoken to several other guys who had similar reactions. Even if it only affects 2 out 10 people...GOD help the 20%.

Everything you are reading on here about blisters, welts, swelling is true. This product should not be sold. Severe angry reaction surfaced 36 hours after application and is slow to dissipate. It has been a full week now and improvement is very slight - blisters have shrunk in size but still scarlet red and facial swelling remains. Fear of secondary infection during the healing process is very real. Unable to leave the house due to disfiguration.

This products need to be banned. The active ingredient is phenylenediamine, which is banned for cosmetic use in Canada but they sell it under the title of hair dye. As this product is for the face - facial hair it should not be permitted. Don't you agree that the results are hitting an epidemic?

I decided to go full beard 2 months ago and as it grew in, it was peppered with gray. After careful consider and product review, I chose the JFM and purchased it at a local pharmacy. I followed the directions to do the reaction test which was negative. Because I like some of the gray in my beard I carefully placed the JFM only in the areas that really needed it and then washed it out according to the directions with warm water and shampoo. About an hour later, the slow burn and itching started and overnight my face started to blister and weep and burn. I applied pure aloe which did take away the burning but not the weeping so I continued to apply the aloe daily not really knowing what was going on. Call me crazy but I tried a second application two weeks later using a cold water rinse this time thinking that maybe if my pores stayed closed I would not get a reaction... WRONG.... The reaction was even worse this time and it took over three weeks for the oozing bumps and burning to go away... JFM you really need to fix this product

My face is on fire shortly after application and itching like crazy, but the next morning my lips and lower face was swollen and I had these little sores that leak puss and sometimes blood. I bought some JFM mustache and beard dye as I have so many times but upon application of the most recent box, my face started burning. I did what I always do, rinse, wash, rinse, condition. My face was on fire. I looked up "itchy beard" on Google and read about beard itch, thought I just had some dry itchy skin under the beard. I didn't attribute it to the JFM. My beard has been itching horribly since but instead of scratch it I apply lotion. It was manageable, until yesterday. While applying JFM, it stung, stung bad. I stopped applying and rinsed off. The sides of my mouth, my lips themselves and beard area were on fire and itching out of control.

The lotions are no longer helping. I had a date last night that had to be cut short because I literally couldn't think; it was itching and burning so bad. I was doing my best not to touch it. Finally I couldn't take it anymore while driving home, I pulled over and used a store bathroom to wash my beard. I noticed that before I started, my beard was wet. I washed it or rinsed it out, rather. No soap. Still burned, I didn't know what to do. As I looked in the mirror, I noticed small bumps all over my face, my lower lip has swollen as well as my neck. I took benadryl last night before bed. I also have sleep apnea, so put on my cpap mask last night and I couldn't even wear it, my face hurts so badly. I really am at a loss what to do. It's the weekend but if this is still here Monday, I'm going to a dermatologist, if I make it that long. I can't even function it stings so badly.

The open sores are healed up but I still have the bumps just under the skin, and mild itching... Problem is if I itch it, my face breaks out again, so I have been taking Claritin and applying a light dose of hydrocortisone cream to the affected areas. I followed the directions perfectly, leaving the product in for five minutes and then washing it out in the shower. My hair came out jet black! Also, I started having burning sensations on my head, with terrible itching and pustules that popped up all over. The next morning, my right eye started to swell and by the end of the day was swollen shut. I went to urgent care and was prescribed some Prednisone and lotion to put on the burns on my head and ears. My left ear also swelled up. There are burns all over the back of my ears, throughout my head and wherever the product touched my forehead.

I have never had particularly sensitive skin, so this really caught me by surprise. My face is all swollen, my vision is bad because both eyes are essentially swollen shut. The box says that the product targets grey hair, of which I didn't have a lot. But my whole head is now a phony looking jet black - and again I reiterate that I only kept the product in my hair for the allotted time. It said five minutes, and I started washing it out at four minutes. I don't know if there is any legal recourse, but I have now missed some important appointments and can't leave the house until I look less beat up and like my face has been rearranged. I also break out in sores here and there on my arms and face and have had one or two appear on my legs.

This has been a nightmare for me. The steroid shot only relieved for a few days, then the rash reappears! I see a dermatologist tomorrow. We can't imagine this stuff being in my system months later! Thinking maybe it triggered another allergic reaction that I've never had because of my weakened immune system? I've obtained a yeast infection because of the steroid use, which adds to the sweltering sores and itching. Did I mention they are on my scalp now too? Absolutely terrible. I have not seen anyone repost about this reaction lasting this long, so I am really worried. If anyone has any advice PLEASE post. I can hardly work and have 7 children. This is robbing me of so much... Thanks, Bob.

I've been using the JFM Mustache and Beard for about 2 years now and the last box I purchased about a month ago has caused itching and burning under my beard. I've also noticed redness, swelling and "watery" discharge from these swollen areas under my beard. I thought maybe it was just me, but after reading just about everyone else's experience with this product, I, too, believe they recently changed the chemicals with the new packaging change. I agree that this product needs to be taken off the market. I will be looking for another product to color my beard. A class action lawsuit is definitely a must.

Recently, I used the product and developed a rash, oozing sores and swelling along my chin and cheeks to the point that I couldn't leave my home and missed a week of work. I don't have any food allergies or skin problems and have not experienced any type of reaction of this nature until I recently used JFM. Therefore, the only conclusion I draw is JFM caused of my problem and I'd like to know what changes they may have made to the ingredients or production process that can induce such a reaction.

I have been a long time user of JFM hair color. I used the product twice a month for about 5 years with no issues. Starting at the end of August, I started having a bad reaction to the product. My head would begin to burn and after my scalp would be all inflamed and itchy. It was as if I went to the beach and got a really bad sunburn. For a few days, my head would ooze a clear liquid and leave nasty stains on my pillow. Then about 2-3 days later, my scalp would itch constantly and flake dead skin all over. It felt like I had some big scabs on there as well. Just when I thought it was over, another round of itching and flaking would begin.

After about a week, it would stop but my head still felt tender. After 3 uses of what must be a reformulated product, I have to move on and try something else. It is embarrassing to be in public and flake all over the place and I am sure this is not doing my body any good. This loyal customer is saying goodbye.

I purchased the "Real Black" version of the Just for Men products last Sunday (9/22/2013). Once I got home, sampled the product, and completed a full treatment on my beard, problems developed within hours. As the day progressed, my beard became extremely itchy, and my skin began peeling. I used a soothing cream over my beard, and my cheeks started to swell up by the end of the day. On day two, my beard still itched, and I began to break out around my mouth. By the end of day two, my tonsils began to swell in addition to the previous conditions mentioned. I took Ibuprofen and an allergy medication to treat the adverse reactions from the dyeing product.

On day three, the problems still persist but not as strong as the previous two days. After feeling a low self-esteem, I was forced to see a doctor. I was prescribed two types of medication to treat the adverse reaction to my face and to treat the swollen tonsils. I am supposed to take the medication for 5 days, and revisit my doctor. I called the company, explained my experience, and will see if I will be reimbursed for all out-of-pocket expenses without jumping through any unnecessary hoops. Ps. If you are going to use a facial dye for your beard, it's better to use a natural dye that reduces the chemical base, which creates irritations.

I've used this the medium/dark beard dye for over 10 years with no problems, with an application about twice per week. About mid-August I got an itchy welt on the side of my mustache that wept clear fluid, then another under my chin and one on the opposite side. About 2 weeks later I got weeping red bumps on my upper and lower lip edges. I've been taking Valtrex, Abbreva and finally Acyclovir for herpes and nothing worked. Finally had a culture that came back negative for herpes. Doc wants more tests for fungus or bacteria. Right in the middle of my chest I have a gray patch that I hit with the dye sometimes and I'm now making the connection after reading all the posts here. I have a major itchy welted rash there that started last week.

I purchase JFM when I get a coupon so the boxes I use could be a couple months old. The ones in my suitcase older still but would coincide with the packaging change they made. Wow could this be affecting so many people?

I've used JFM for over 10 years with absolutely no problem whatsoever. Just yesterday, I colored my goatee in the morning. That night, my chin was extremely itchy. I thought it might have been the JFM, but thought nothing of it. By the end of my evening out, I was itchy all over my body, had broken out in hives, and my lips were swollen. I spent the night in the ER getting Prednisone and Benadryl and an IV. The ER thinks it can't have anything to do with the JFM and assumes it's a food allergy, which is strange because I am 51 and have never had a food allergy ever. Once I came home and looked online, I'm thinking the JFM is to blame. Interesting to see so many long time users suddenly having problems. I think some sort of Legal action is necessary before someone has a worse reaction than me!

The first time it happened, the blister was near my lower lip. I did not realize it was from the beard dye as the blister healed after 4 days and I thought it was a fever blister (which bummed me out to no end as I never had a fever blister before). I (foolishly) used the product this morning and within a few hours had a large red "burn" spot on my chin and by end of the day, it turned into a blister. I am so embarrassed that I am thinking of skipping more work. Evil, evil, eeeeevil! JFM should be sued as this product is bad! Like most of all of the responses that I've read online my experiences are very similar. To the point that I didn't think I should even add my story, because it all has been said before. But the more that I think about it, the more we need to share our experience so they take this product off the shelves so other men don't have the same issues as we did. Something happened to their product because when I first started using it I didn't have these side effects. I've been using the product for over a year and sometime at the beginning of the year 2013, I noticed red sores that popped up after a couple of days after using the product. They would scab and then itch like crazy, to the point that I would scratch them open again only for them to ooze with pus.

At first I thought it was an ingrown hair or something unrelated to the treatment. But I noticed they would pop up right after I would apply the chemicals. The formula that I used was the light brown M30 and I did notice it was around the time that they changed the color of the packaging. The other thing that I noticed was that my whole beard itches every day and into the night. I catch myself itching my beard 4-5 times every hour and it's in different spots. This drives me crazy and takes all of my strength not to itch the sores. I was very careful in reading the instructions and making sure that the chemicals were mixed correctly and never left on past 5 minutes. I would even time myself with my iPhone to make sure that I was always under 5 minutes.

As soon as these sores heal on my face, I'm shaving my beard because I can't take the constant itching throughout the day. I will never use this product again! I just hope that after I shave my beard that I don't haven't permanent scars or discoloring from the chemicals. If anybody starts a class action suit I'm all in. I have pictures to back my case.

I followed the directions to the letter and four hours later, in the middle of my event, my face started to itch and a rash started on the side of my face. Interestingly, the instructions say that if a reaction happens during application to immediate rinse it out - however, what about when the product is ALREADY washed off and the reaction develops later. I came home and rinsed my face in cold water for relief.

I woke up this morning with my face on fire and with a terrible rash on my face. I haven't left the house and have applied everything from Hydrogen Peroxide and Preparation-H to my face (yes, I'm desperate) as well as taking an allergy pill and still no relief. Thought I was the only one. Clearly I was wrong. JFM have their backs covered as it states on the packaging and the tubes regarding severe allergies and blindness. A lawsuit would fall on death ears. Almost impossible to find a natural beard dye here in the UK so have purchased some from the USA. If I have to apply this for days at a time then so be it. Can not go through this again. And this stuff ain't cheap. It's like having battery acid on your face.

Even tried applying it without touching the skin and soaking face in a sink of water then using a shower head to get it off as not to touch skin. Made no difference. Try Nivea men's intensive moisturizer with vitamin E for relief and Blistex relief cream if lips are burning. This was the only two things that got me through it. Be aware and avoid this product at all costs especially if you have any allergies. These chemical burns are nasty.

The first three went all right, but after that the itching and dried skin started, now I have a raw rash and some parts of my skin are stained - so before the next time, and I screw up my face anymore, that will be all for this Just For Men nonsense. The fact is that I have coarse hair and it only lasts about 2 days and now the white hair stands out even more against the stained skin - so this stuff actually makes the grays stand out more - go figure. If you didn't have a problem for years but now have weepy, nasty blisters, it is because you became sensitized JFM ingredients p-Aminophenol or p-Phenylenediamine or both. You can expect subsequent exposures to cause blisters that happen faster and are worse. You are also likely to have a reaction to any aromatic amine from any source for the rest of your life. That said, if it hurts when you do something, don't do it. I suggest you use Henna dye. It is more of a hassle but it sure looks better than JFM if you get the color right. Google "henna." You will find some safe products out there. As for JFM, they know about the problem but have no incentive to fix the product. If JFM fails, they will probably just walk away. Within an hour, I could not stand the pain and was using ice packs to relieve it, to no avail. It kept me awake most of the night. I developed the red bumps that started oozing puss. All I can really say here with absolute certainty is that I now know that it's not just me! I have used this product for the past six or seven years, and have never had a problem. I did do the skin test the first time with no issues. I had stopped using the product for about a year, so when I started use again, I did the test again, and still had no problems. I have been using the product about every two and a half weeks consistently since 2007, and until about November of 2012, I had no problems, but then began to notice skin irritation after use. Around January, I noticed that the consistency of the product was a bit different when I mixed it up. The packaging was slightly different as well. I also noticed that the caps on the tubes were very hard to remove. The big surprise was the redness, burning, and itching after use. I also had an issue with my whole face swelling up! I had a fairly long beard length which made it difficult to see just how much swelling and skin irritation was going on.

Like many men on here, I just assumed that I had left the product on too long, since I have been using for so many times with no issues. I waited about three weeks for my skin to calm down (or so I thought) and used it again. For anyone wondering why I and others would do this, we need a product for grey beard hair! I know getting old is a fact of life, but we just feel better about our appearance without grey hair, and just want to be able to keep the appearance that gives us confidence! This time, I trimmed my beard to a much shorter length, and then used the product again. The thought was that with shorter beard length, I could use less product, and avoid more problems. This time, I am very red; my skin is burning and itching, and my whole face is swollen really bad! I used the product on a Saturday morning. I was up all Saturday night(!) in pain.

I spent Sunday icing my face! I went into town Sunday and bought some Benadryl lotion for my face (My chin line is gone! My neck and face are all just one big blob! When I move my head from side to side, I have this big hanging turkey neck flopping around... it's like the skin tension, or muscle tension in my neck has all let go!). I am also taking water pills to see if this will help with the swelling in my face. Now it's Monday a.m., and I just called in sick at my job! I can't leave the house like this! Today, I will stop the Benadryl lotion, and take an antihistamine pill, and wait and hope for relief! I will have to go into work tomorrow regardless!

What the hell has JFM done with this product?! This is not an allergic reaction that has developed! Something has been changed with this product! I will never use it again, but this is not good enough! These victims on here as well as myself deserve better than this for our faithful consumption of this product! Something is wrong, and JFM knows this! If they do not have enough consideration for the pain and suffering that we have all been subjected to, then someone needs to force them to take this product off store shelves now! They should already have done this. Do they need a lawsuit to do the right thing?!

Please read entire post or you may want to skim ahead to the heading of what I did that seemed to offer a little relief. Maybe it will give you some better idea of how to help yourself.

Background: I used JFM two years ago. I ran a test of the JFM product as directed with no problem or issues. In fact, I subsequently used it several times that year with no issues. Last year, I used it at first. I had no problems other than a little burning, which I figured to be the norm. The next year, I used the product. It burned me a little, but still dismissed it. The next time I used it, I was burned again; this time, worse than I had remembered obviously and said I'd never use the product again. (Redness, swelling, itching and oozing skin, in particular oozing which crystallizes when it dried!) I long since forgot about the whole thing that happened last year since I only grow facial hair in the coldest parts of the winter (Jan./Feb. or so).

This year, OMG. Last Friday, I applied this JFM stuff on the eve of the night. I was going to an annual employee party hosted by my fiancé’s employer and left it in for the timed 4-5 minute time, showered and went about my business as usual. Over the course of the evening, the adverse reactions became so unbearable, we had to depart from the party early as a result of the pain, swelling, itching and oozing of the skin under my facial hair. I will never use or condone the use of this product ever again!

It is crystal clear that it was the product that caused the extreme pain and discomfort and everything else to follow (add nausea and much more!). I finally went online to seek out some kind of remedy or what to or what not to do, so I could provide some kind of relief (anything of any kind) since I am medically uninsured. That's when I came across this website. I feel compelled to also jump on this bandwagon now and to also tell everyone I know (and then some!) to not use this product and hopefully if you all tell all your friends and families, maybe they will get the word before they get into this position since there is no turning back once you've been burned by this product.

I'd really like to see it banned from the market place! The risks of use with this product are not clearly defined or we who are here would not be here in the first place! If one were to really look into this, I'm sure most that used the product had no problem at first, but subsequently and eventually, one would. It's exactly like a game of Russian roulette. Just because JFM advise to test prior to use, does not cut it. What should they advise is that you should test prior to each and every use regardless of past success or other and they also publish the statistics, like pharmaceutical companies are required to list the percentage of failure rates respective to the updated precautionary statements and possible side effects, etc.

This year's history: It's now Monday evening and I've somehow managed through the excruciating pain since Friday night with all of the other symptoms which were very similar to those who have gone to the hospital or doctor. Unfortunately for me, I am medically uninsured at current but I still have a lump about the size of an orange right under my chin, my cheeks are swollen to look like a chipmunks with a mouth packed full of food. The oozing is still happening, the redness, hot feeling skin, itching, oozing, crystallizing and over all pain is ever so present.

What I did that seemed to offer some relief: (Disclaimer: I'm no doctor and I am not posting this in lieu of you knowing when to seek medical help for yourself, but this really helped me provide some relief to my symptoms. Your results may vary. In essence, you can do whatever you need to do. Whatever it is is at your own risk). I used warm to as medium/hot as you can stand wet wash cloth slowly move over the affected area to remove the crystallized puss from my face (similar to melting rather than scraping, scratching, picking or itching it off while grinding it over your face!). I took maximum adult portions of Benadryl (OTC antihistamine) tablets regularly to help with the swelling and discomfort. I also used triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin or generic) to help keep the oozing from crystallizing all in combination to hopefully commence a healing phase. I finally committed to removing all my facial hair on Monday morning if it didn't calm down by Monday morning. There was no way was I comfortable (even the idea) of shaving to remove my facial hair.

On Monday morning, my reaction is still cranking out the adverse side effects. I prepared to remove my beard and mustache by washing my face to remove the crystallized puss (again). I then took a mechanical trimmer to remove all my facial hair down to the stubs because I did not dare to shave. OMG, the thought of that was not even in the same universe with this much discomfort. Then I reapplied another medium/hot wet wash cloth to sooth my face a little more, pat-dried my skin and stubs and then re-applied a triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin), because it seemed like it was the best thing I could do to facilitate a commencement of healing for my skin from this burn. I continued the Benadryl (antihistamine) for the swelling, etc., but it is still ever present with over all pain and does nothing for the lump under my chin. Again (in my case), I found that by doing all the above, my symptoms were lessened to a more manageable level of pain, discomfort and more, all be it the adverse reactions persisted and I'm seriously in question as to when/if I will be back to normal again. Hopefully, no other issues surface as a result of this burn.

I will remain hopeful that someone will establish a class action lawsuit to at minimum, remove the product from the market place. To me, it's not about the money as much as it is to avoid anyone, including my worst enemy, to not have to go through this ever again. When (not if) the class action lawsuit happens, feel free to contact me. I am on board big time. Until then, regardless of if they have facial hair now or not, I am on a mission to mention this experience to the next 1,000 or more men whom I come into contact with and will strongly urge them to at least mention it to as many other men as they possibly can. This JFM product is pure evil!

I used it weekly for almost a month and then something went seriously wrong. The product really burned my face - skin redness and oozing like others have reported. A couple of days I almost scratched my face off; I was so itchy. The product is harsh! The color is not accurate either. I left it on for only 4 minutes and it came out a lot darker than I expected. I'm just waiting to heal and looking forward to trying the Clairol product and keep my fingers crossed.

Helpful treatment for the itch is the Benadryl Extra Strength Itch Gel from Walgreens or Walmart. It burns like hell but helps. My husband had an awful reaction to JFM, burning, itching, flaking, oozing. He was treated at the ER with steroids, etc. They tried everything and it still itched and burned after a week. He applied the gel. Again, it burned like hell, and he sat in front of a fan to speed up the drying process - it actually stops the itching for about 6 hours at a time. Don't use the gel on your skin if you're taking other Benadryl type product - check instructions on the bottle.

I have just started using JFM beard dye (black) to cover the grey in my rather short goatee and mustache. Since I bought the initial 2 tubes, I have used the product 4 times. The product comes in 2 tubes that you mix in equal parts at the time of application, and it is reusable if you do not use all of it. The instructions say to apply a bit of it and wait a while to see if your skin has a negative reaction before a full application is applied. The first time I applied JFM, I did the test and I passed. The next day, I did a full application, and although I did feel a little itch, overall I was ok with it. I always time applications at 4 minutes after I have brushed it on. I began to apply the product about every 1 1/2 weeks, as I shaved and greyed. Although at first I did not know that the itch was contributed to the dye, I began to notice that after each time, my chin seemed to be a little itchier and redder than the time before. And the itch would last a little longer (1 day first app, 2 second app, etc.).

The 4th application, which I did yesterday, had been the worst. Everywhere I applied (except, oddly, the mustache area), it was red, swollen, and itching like crazy! I have never had an allergy to anything! I am trying all I can to relieve the itch without success, and I certainly don't want to dig in to it (well, want to but I know better, anyway). Reading these other experiences and with mine in consideration makes me believe that JFM Beard and Mustache needs to be pulled off the shelves! I will certainly never buy or recommend it to anyone. Consumers, beware!

I just started growing my beard out in the past year and decided to try a more youthful look by covering up the grey/white areas, primarily my chin area. The first time I used the JFM product, I had no noticeable reaction. A couple of weeks later, I used it again and experienced a slight burning sensation followed by itching and a bit of oozing fluid under my beard. This subsided after a week or so. I really liked not having grey/white in my beard, so even though I had the slight burning and a week or so of itching the last time I used the product, I used it again for the last time. That time, it really burned my face the same as described by many guys here, oozing, blistered skin with discoloration under my beard. It's been nearly a month now since and I still have itchiness and minor flaking, but it seems to be getting better. I know I cannot use this product ever again. I suggest that if you experience the burning, itching, oozing, blistered and discolored skin even the slightest even once, stop using this product. The last time I used it (about 4 days ago), I woke up scratching my beard and mustache and thought that maybe I was over-using it or leaving it on too long. But I had used it this way every time. The next day, I had a red patch just above my lip that itched like hell and it was very clear that I had some kind of chemical burn or had very suddenly developed an allergy to JFM. I was on the same boat all of you guys were. I used Just For Men for years and never had a problem until last year. I was getting painful, itchy blisters that felt like a chemical burn on my lip when I would put their crap on my lip. My lip got so swollen the last time I used it that it looked like I put collagen in my upper lip. I looked everywhere on the internet for a solution, but I began to think that it was hopeless and I was doomed to have grey facial hair until I finally came upon an internet search for dying hair with henna (the same stuff used to make temporary tattoos). It said it was all natural and no chemicals! I thought what the hell and bought some.

I stand before you today (figuratively, of course) to tell you it works perfectly! You get the henna in a powder form that you mix with water to a yogurt consistency - takes no more than 5 minutes to put it on your facial hair - and then you just wait 1 hour. I usually watch TV during the wait. Once it's hardened to your face, you simply jump in the shower and rinse it off. You'll come out with a yellowish tint where the grey hair was; but in the next 5-8 hours, that yellow turns into your natural hair color! This stuff is amazing! I made sure to use it for a few months to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and it's not! Tell Just For Men to stick it! You do not have to burn! Notice: I will not give you a website where to purchase this stuff, because I don't want you to think I make any money from telling you this. It works! That's all I can say. Go find it.

After 8 months, I noticed the flaking of my skin and it itched beyond words. I then noticed a scab on my chin and stopped using it. I threw out the old stuff thinking maybe it had gone bad and purchased a new box. I used that once and had the same issues. I find that baby oil right after a shower helps, then I use an aloe sunburn lotion that stings a little bit, but does help too. I won't be using this product any longer. I'm finding it interesting - the number of people having similar complaints. I also had some minor swelling, but some Benadryl helped with that.

There is something seriously wrong with this product. It's not an "allergy" – it is chemical burning/blistering which can become infected. Hot showers and cortisone ointment provide some relief, but the sores recur. I quit using J4M and switched to Clairol Natural Instincts for Men. My scalp is now healing, and I like the Natural Instinct because, although it costs a bit more (but you can get it cheaper on eBay), it gives you twice the amount of product (2 oz. vs. 1 oz.), can be used on beard, and is easier to work with because it forms more of a gel when mixed so it doesn't splatter. I'm using the M9 which is roughly J4M medium brown and I don't leave it on for the 10-20 minutes recommended – I use a 5-8 minutes time.
