So I am a first time user of JFM beard. I went looking to see if others had experience similar to mine. Now I feel thankful my was mild compared to others. Think it weird the burning happens 2 to 5 days after application. Apparently others are having issues with the JFM product as well. My guess is they changed vendor to save money which may end up costing them more in the long run as I found a pending Class Action. The color match perfectly but between it lasting only 5 days and the burning and itching, I'll look to try something else for now.

Keep away from this product. Leave it on the shelf. Don't try it. After years of using this product I have had a few years break from it then used it again 16/04/2020. I used the hair dye and the beard dye. I woke at around 3am in agony and could not breath. I had a shower to shampoo my hair to try and make sure I could again try and clear my head and face from any dye. I shaved my beard off immediately. It took me three hours to get my breath back. Today I sit here and my face is swollen, red and sore to touch. I put olive oil in my hair to try and stop the dye continuing and showered and shampooed it out and I have some relief on the itching all over my scalp and will do it again soon.
My face is distorted and swollen out of recognition and puss oozing out of sores as my skin was stripped away from this product. My lips are sore and cannot eat. I am putting moisturiser on my face that gives some relief as I want to make sure my skin stays elastic and to try and not coarse long term defects as I have read happens. I am in hope this passes in a few days but read this could take weeks if not years. I am in absolute distress as I am in lockdown from the coronavirus and alone with this and feel like crying because of the pain. I do not want to go to hospital and open myself up to coronavirus and die from the virus so I have to do this all alone. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not use this product, or any product from this company.

CAUTION!!!! STOP!!!! Do not use Just for Men. I strongly recommend you to NOT USE Just For Men Mustache & Beard. I have no skin problem, I'm very healthy with no allergies at all, and never had any problems with my skin as well. I used on April /6/2020 the Just for Men Mustache & Beard, After the test on a small area, I applied the product for 5 min as recommended and I washed my face. The beard looks good, (I don't have a long beard) not fully died but acceptable. A couple of hours after I applied, I started fell very uncomfortable after all the reactions. Blisters all over my face, my cheek is keeping swollen, aching, and burning sensation as well. I'm deformed right now. DON'T USE THIS POISON. Google this product review and you will see all over the internet how bad are the reactions. My bad experience doesn't have to be yours.

I have been using JFM for twenty plus years and never ever had a problem until this past summer when I would have itching after use. Since my hair is short, I usually use it twice a month, and have done so like I said for twenty years without any problems. I recently had surgery and have not been able to use the product for a month and of course I went totally gray. I had absolutely no itching since I stopped for the month. I was able to use it a couple nights ago with help because I really hate having gray hair, and now I am itching a lot again in my scalp and beard, and the skin on the right side of my face to the top of my scalp actually hurts to the touch.
I used to tell people how great this product was because it worked so well. I also thought that perhaps the ingredients changed because it not only caused itching and redness, the color does not stay as it did in previous years. I don’t know what I am going to do or what other product I can try because I really do not like having the gray hair and I hope JFM is reading these comments and can perhaps reevaluate the formula because they are losing long time customers.... I am a 20+ year steady customer, but now I am forced to stop using the product because the discomfort is now out of control. I certainly would try to use it again if there is a positive revision in the formula.
I never write reviews or comments but after reading all the comments from other users who are experiencing the same reaction I have been experiencing, I felt I needed to also write about my experience. Once again this product was #1 in my experience for two decades but something has obviously changed in the ingredients.

I’m quite sure most reading this are currently experiencing itching, burning and yellow puss all over the areas that they applied Just for Men beard dye. I am writing this to offer some comfort to folks who are currently in what I call the freak-out stage. Like others I have used Just for Men previously with no issues. Two weeks ago I used the same as previous applications, and within 10-12 hrs after application I experienced the worst itching burning sensation ever in my life. I wanted to rip my face off. I applied aloe vera during the day and at night I alternated with antibiotic ointment and medicated honey. To help with sleeping I took an antihistamine, which provided minimal comfort (minimal was better than nothing). The itching lasted 4-5 full days. The yellow puss and crusting lasted about 3-4 days.
I used the aloe liberally throughout the day. It soaks into your skin and does not leave your beard oily or greasy. Think of this chemical burn as a really bad sunburn. After 7 days I finally felt like I was getting better. Between 7-14 days I experienced severely flaking skin and each day noticed the redness starting to fade away a bit. It’s now 14 full days and I finally feel like I’m getting back to normal. Also, guys keep hydrated, drink lots of water. You will get through this, everyone will experience something different, but generally it looks like everyone goes through the same scary stages. I’m not a doctor, so for folks who are experience some of the more severe swelling and difficulty swallowing, please seek medical attention. Hopefully you guys currently in the itching and yellow puss stage find some comfort and relief after reading this review. Good Luck. Shame on drugstores for selling such a dangerous product.

Same as others have written here. I've successfully used this product for years. This past fall after using it, my face developed a full bleeding rash with yellow puss that dried into a crystal-like crust. I went to do the doc and he thought it might be contagious and I had to stop all social events for a week, and I eventually healed with topical and pill antibiotics. Fast forward three months and I try this product again and the same thing happens. I had not made the connection the first time. How can this company sell this product? It's a product that goes on your skin, and burns it off. I'm not allergic to any other product.

Used this product for almost 10 years, no problem, until recently, a couple months ago. I noticed my beard started to itch. Since I kept my beard very low, I just assumed it was maybe a few ingrown hairs. You know the beard hair curling and prickly into your skin. That's what I thought. I would apply the dye like once a week (every 4 days or so).
This went on for over 2 months until through the process of elimination, I finally realized my face was burning from the dye. I had no clue. It had been working perfectly for years? But the story gets worse. I stopped the dye. The allergic reaction on my face slowly went away... But this entire time, my lower lip was chapped. I had no clue it was related as I assumed it was the colder weather season. The allergic reaction to the dye caused my lower lip to become swollen and inflamed. The reaction has subsided, but now, my lower lip started to show hyperpigmentation, almost like if I've been smoking a lot (and I don't smoke at all).
After countless hours, I've discovered it to be "Pigmented Contact Cheilitis"...which is caused by the allergic reaction to 'Paraphenylenediamine' (PPD) which is a chemical substance that is widely used as a permanent hair dye (which is found in Just For Men). Its been 4 weeks since my last use. My lips aren't chapped, no reaction, but I'm left with hyperpigmentation which now I'm making my rounds to every dermatologist specialist to seek treatment for hyper-pigment in lips. I've spent almost $500 so far on lip treatments. It's been a pain. Ugh! Feel free to contact me if you're going through this. I'm happy to chat and share my treatment. - Mike (email: **)

I started dying my beard few months ago. The first time when I bought it, it worked well without any issues or side effects. This is my second time that I bought JFM 55 (Dec-2019). I had that burning sensation, irritation white fluid coming out of the pores of the beard area which later turned yellow (puss). I really thought that it's some kind of allergy. The condition lasted about 5 days. 2 days ago (01-21-20) I used it again and same thing happened. Irritation, swelling, stiff chin and puss. I did that for a job interview which I doubt that I will be able to go now after using this poisonous product. Right now I am thinking about going to ER. Last night when I slept, I woke up with 3 stains of puss (Yellow fluid/discharge from the wound under my beard and mustache. Two stains were on my t-shirt and 1 on my pillow. I wanna know if together we can file a lawsuit against this poisonous product.

I've been using this product for a few years now without any problems. Now I've been getting the most horrendous side effects. She'll be itchy and my face really irritated. The worst side effect of all is my lip swelling to an enormous size and the most awful sticky clear/yellowish liquid is coming out that would scab awfully and look like I was in a horror film. Inside my lip, hard lumps would appear. I saw dermatologists and doctors and I was being tested for so many things (herpes, even AIDS!) Hair dye was not one of the things that was mentioned to me but it had to be more than coincidence that within days of applying it I would be having these side effects again.
Embarrassment at work... My self-confidence dropped. I would avoid facing people. But like a fool, I would continue using this, believing it couldn't be the dye. I applied it yesterday, and lo and behold, last night my chin was so itchy and this morning my lip is swollen, the skin above my lip has red bumps that are really sore -and I deliberately didn't even apply this to my moustache area! I did a web search today and found this site showed similar reviews. I am relieved that I am not alone in this yet upset. I'll look for pictures to attach of how bad it gets. NEVER buying this again. So, I've been using Just For Men for probably 10+ years with absolutely no problem...Until now!! I went to the drug store and purchased a large stockpile of JFM hair dye because I like to keep lots on hand for convenience. Anyway, I think I noticed the box design had changed but thought nothing of it. I applied the new product on my face and felt a slight more of a burn and again thought nothing of it...until the next day!! Holymotherofgod!!! My face felt like someone threw bleach or chlorine on my face and rubbed poison ivy on it!! My face swelled up, it was red all over, itched like crazy and puss started to ooze out of it. I was so shocked I didn't know what to do or how to treat it, I just thought i'd ride it out.
Well, after about a week it kinda started to heal but not without extreme discomfort, puss from my face and a lot of facial scabs causing dandruff which was incredibly embarrassing. The really weird and scary thing is that although most of my face seems to have healed, I developed a large patch very itchy, red and bumpy hives on my left arm, a small patch on my chest and a couple itchy small ones on my right arm, all of which have lasted for the last 8+weeks and going. My fave still itches not as bad as initially but after 8+ weeks you'd think I would have been done. Anyway, I believe this new formula Just For Men has created is extremely dangerous and highly irresponsible to be on the market. After my horrible experience, I don't care even if they recall the current product and admit their mistake I will never use Just For Men again! DON"T BUY JUST FOR MEN DYE!!!

JFM - Dark Brown. I have been a user of JFM for past 6 years or so and I never had problems till last one year. When applied to my mustache area (Twice a Week), the area has become very irritated and itchy with some clear sticky liquid oozing out continuously. It is causing lot a pain and irritation in that area, which is quite an embarrassing situation for anyone to be in. The product's quality has fallen drastically and appears to be extremely dangerous to use. As I read from other reviews here, it appears if I stop using this product, my condition may alleviate. Even when used on scalp, it is forming hives and some liquid is secreting making the hair also sticky. The product could be carcinogenic. STAY AWAY FROM ALL JFM.

I had used this product since Jan 2010 without a problem or incident. The day I was burned in early 2015 was the last day I ever dyed anything. It burned my chest and my scalp. The pain lasted for days and the blisters drained for days as well. The itching was crazy, but you could not scratch because it was so tender. I have 6 brothers who all have their hair and I had a good head of hair until that day. My hair was falling out in clumps and all over the top. I always went light on the sides as a little gray on sides was ok with me. So I don’t seem to have damage there.
I spent $12,000 plus high interest to have 2,000 grafts for a hair transplants (I am still making payments). My scalp is scared and looks really bad and I need another 3-4,000 grafts to cover it up. The only hair I have on top is my 2,000 grafts and it is so thin, it doesn’t do the job. These days shaved heads are in, but not if your scalp looks scarred up like mine. This will cost me another $16,000. I enjoy boating and water skiing as well as vacations in the sun during cold winters. I have to always be aware of the scars on my chest and try not to expose it too much sun. Lots of sunscreen in that area. It still looks bad and I have had people ask me what happened.

When I woke up in the morning on February 15 my beard was filled with crust due to my face leaking pus. I went to CVS and I purchased Aquaphor to relieve the itching and burning and I dredged my beard to help. I never had this issue but I assume I have a chemical burn. It's brutal. First three times I used it, it would really sting for a day or two, but put up with that, as the colour was really good. But when we were coming home from Spain, I applied it again for a fourth time. On our last night, we were out having a meal. And my beard felt like it was on fire, really sore and dry. Even though I applied plenty of beard oil. But worse was still to come.
After returning home on Jan 31st, my beard was so sore and itchy, that I couldn't sleep. Then a day or two later, my beard and rash started flaking so badly, that I wouldn't leave my flat. Kept applying loads of moisturiser, and still no better. Yesterday, finally got an appointment with the Doctor, who prescribed me antibiotics. Skin is still dry and flaky, but beginning to show improvement. But even though I'm not happy with my grey beard, I will never use this product again.

I have used this product for years with great success. I use it not only to touch up my mid length beard but for my hair too as the brush means it looks really natural as some grey remains. In November 2018 I dyed as normal once a month and during that night had the most painful itchy head and face, could not stop scratching and struggled to sleep. Woke up to find my pillow was soaking wet and had a yellowish stain. My head and face were red, slightly swollen, oozing and really itchy.
Got an emergency GP appointment and as I had always dyed didn't think it was that especially. As I had scratched it so much during the night I had inflamed it more and cause an infection so had a prescription of antihistamines and T-Gel shampoo. Took about a week but the weeping stopped, the redness and soreness cleared but I still had itchy scalp and dandruff (which I've never had in 49 years before) so continued to use dandruff shampoo.
Dyed as usual a month later and exactly the same but again I thought it was a dermatitis issue, saw the doctor and have been on anti-fungal tablets. In a few days the weeping, redness, etc cleared and thought the tablets was the cure. Tonight dyed again but only my beard and now the penny has dropped! No issue in my scalp or hair but beard is dripping with ooze very red and sore and itchy and I haven't scratched it at all. Now I'm more aware. DEFINITELY the hair dye causing the problem. This week I was looking to go to a dermatologist. I think I'll skip so. Do not use this product as it will ruin your skin, cause inflammation, and cause permanent damage. It was the day before Thanksgiving (Nov. 21, 2018) and I was really looking forward to spending time with my two little girls and the rest of the family. We all live in different cities and we don't get that much time with one another. So I wanted to look my best. Fresh hair cut, clothes packed, clean trim on my beard and ready to hit the road. But wait, I should probably touch up the little bit of white coming in on the goatee part of my beard.
I had used this product exactly twice in the past with great results. Except, I was a little hesitant because the second time I had used it I experienced some mild skin irritation. Burning, Itching, etc.. Manageable discomfort in my opinion and a price I was willing to pay to look good for my beloved daughters. So, I proceed to cautiously and sparingly apply it to my beard and decide to leave it in for no more than two minutes instead of the recommended five. Jump in the shower hot water, soap, shampoo, condition thoroughly. I get out get dressed, check the results. No irritation, no burning, looks pretty good as there was still a little white showing where I didn't get great coverage or leave it in nearly as long as instructed. No big deal as I wanted to err on the side of caution.
Upon nearing the end of the nearly five hour drive to arrive at the family farm where we will be spending the holiday and my face is on Fire! Immediately Followed by Severe Swelling (cheeks, chin, neck and then puffy eyes), Insatiable Itching, Redness, Blisters, Horrendous Pain and Weeping. By weeping I don't mean crying (although I wanted to) but the weeping fluid that was clear and would be literally dripping, almost flowing, like a faucet left on so the pipes don't freeze. I had to carry around paper towels to soak up the fluid as toilet paper just couldn't absorb enough. It was embarrassing as no one wants to see that while they are trying to enjoy their meal.
This continued all through the Holiday weekend and I managed to not complain about my discomfort too much, trying to ensure that my daughters would one day remember this as a pleasant experience with their father and extended family. Day 6 (Nov 26th) I was returning to work and nothing I was doing to help remedy the situation was helping. I was using ** for the pain. ** for the swelling and to help get at least a little sleep. I even tried using my aunts Steroid Cream. No Dice. The only relief I could find was submerging my face in really HOT water for as long as I could stand it and cleaning up the oozing mess every hour on the hour.
Day 7 - No Improvement and noticed the weeping was turning a slight yellow, had an odor, and was now sticky like tree sap. Day 8 - I had to leave work early with a fever, muscle aches, joint pain and inflammation. I carefully shaved my beard to get a closer look at what was going on and get more aggressive with the cleaning regiment and possibly consider seeking medical treatment. Shaving revealed a chemically scorched face from ear to ear with the worst of it at my chin. Cleaning with Hot water to open the pores and using a wash rag to push in on the skin and twist would release small amounts of puss from each and every hair follicle that the chemical had touched. Very intense pain is an understatement!
Every hair follicle felt like hot needle being buried in my skin, Or like a splinter that you just can't get out. I would spend 15 - 30 minutes every hour repeating the procedure over the course of Day 9 and 10. Bedridden for two days with a wash rag to soak up the infection as it now began to harden into a superglue like texture only 15 minutes after getting it completely clean. I was truly miserable experience... Worse than my broken ankle, wrist, nose, and clavicle on the pain scale, but not quite as bad as Rheumatic Fever (Imagine Rheumatoid Arthritis + High Grade Fever) that almost had killed me 10 years ago.
Day 11 After knocking myself out with a ** induced coma to ensure some sleep would occur I awoke to find the infection had hardened into a greenish, awful smelling mask across my chin and that it had spread to the back of my hands. The infection had either entered my blood stream (life threatening) or by blotting the puss with the back of my hands while falling asleep the night before. Even more concerning is I could not swallow, talk, and beginning to have difficulty breathing. I awoke my roommate to drive me to the Hospital. I have an extremely high pain tolerance and consider myself able to tough out most things. But, this is getting close to becoming a serious risk of death! Infection in your blood stream is no joke.
The physicians diagnosis: Severe chemical burns that lead to open wounds on my face becoming infected with Staph Infection that spread to my hands by contact, Plus Strep Throat due to an exhausted immune response while battling the infection. A Steroid shot was administered that immediately helped my throat swelling. Topical and oral antibiotic along with an oral steroid were prescribed.
Day 12 - After the hospital and spending day 11 and 12 with what had become the normal hourly cleaning routine combined with topical antibiotic to my face and hands after cleaning, plus steroid... I finally believe the infection has been completely removed and doesn't appear to be returning. The raw patches on my cheeks are now bleeding for the first time and beginning to scab over. However, my chin is completely numb to the touch now; like the nerve endings have been permanently damaged and there is a small "bleached out" looking spot of skin that I'm hoping the color and pigment return. In addition, I notice that some patches of skin are no longer able to grow hair. Day 13 - (currently today) I returned to work for a half day and haven't noticed any further improvement to chin numbness, skin color disfiguration, or hair follicle growth. These results may be permanent. I pray not.
In reflection. The only initial goal was to cover up a little white in my beard, to look a little better for my daughters that I adore and don't get to see nearly enough. Only to endure two weeks of HELL. Including forced smiles at Thanksgiving to cover the pain, seeing the faces of concern and disgust in peoples faces when they look at me, sleeplessness, worry, work time earnings lost, hospital expense, and possible permanent scarring is more than unacceptable. It's downright negligent and criminal that someone is making a buck off of this poison!
I may plan to seek legal action depending on if the remaining injuries turn out to be permanent. Or, if the CEO making a fortune off this stuff wants to volunteer for a good 'ole fashioned ** beating then I will kindly deliver. Don't worry, I will just send you to the hospital and leave you just a little permanently disfigured! Sounds like an adequate and equal response to me... Buyer Beware. G' Day.

The test was good, so I applied it to my beard and mustache. A hour or so later I started itching really bad. That was later, a few hours later by burning, swelling of chin, lips and gums. Weep came along, like water literally dripping from my face. I went to the ER, they said I had severe chemical burns. They gave me two shots in the hip, steroids and antibiotics. Along with prescriptions for those and other meds and mind pain medication. Doctor told me to shave to get as much of the hair follicle I could. It took about two weeks to finally clear up. Very painful, had to miss work because of the open wounds. All I can say is beware of this product.

I have used Just For Men for several years without any problem until about 2 months ago. I follow the instructions, wash it out, no problem. Then about 3 hours later while I'm on a date my beard area feels like it's on fire. I go to the restroom and notice oozing from my beard area, literally dripping. I use tissue and see that the oozing is yellow. My face started to swell. I went to the emergency room and was treated. This product is dangerous.

By 9 that evening I was itching so badly I had to shave my month old beard. I had pus oozing from multiple rash sores on my face. I have no relief. Do not use this product. This has to be banned. This classification, exempts Just for Men’s dye from FDA approval prior to consumer use. In fact, the FDA is prohibited from taking legal action against defendants for safety issues related to the products so long as the packaging includes a generic cautionary statement noting that the products “contain ingredients which may cause skin irritation” and a skin test recommendation.

Having used Just for Men beard dye satisfactorily over the course of four months or so I was not too concerned when the setting mix in the latest purchase had a slightly different composition - white rather than clear. Around four hours after application I began to have red burning skin that continued to worsen - becoming purple, raised, puffy and then pus began to ooze from the skin. I would describe the pain as stinging and or burning - in the manner of sunburn. I went to the hospital and was immediately put on a course of steroids and antihistamines. Not pleasant at all. Please be warned - do a patch test first. From a Google search I can see I am not alone in having a bad experience. Retailers should think twice about stocking the product.

I too have used Just For Men beard dye on my mustache and goatee for a couple of decades now. I used it without issue about twice a month. About 8 months ago I used it and all of a sudden I was feeling burning, later I was feeling itching and burning, then I started to develop a rash in the goatee and mustache area. I have now been to a dermatologist 4 times, as they thought I had seborrheic Dermatitis. I was given numerous prescription creams and cleansers, and put on a strict regimen.
After all that nothing is helping, my face still has a rash and still burns and still itches. Again the rash is only in the area that the Just For Men product was applied. Last week my dermatologist was looking at my skin and plaque on the skin and decided that I needed a 3 mm punch biopsy from my chin to send off to a pathologist to help better determine what is going on. So now I have 2 stitches closing a hole on my face and I sit and await the results, of a condition that isn’t getting any relief. As a consumer and a sufferer I know exactly what is to blame for this condition and that is the Just For Men product. It certainly needs to be pulled from the shelf.

I have been a faithful user of the Just For Men Jet black for over 15 years. I would use it twice a week. This year (2018) is the first time I started experiencing a bad reaction to the product. At first I thought it was because I did not wash it out with a Neutralizing so I purchased a bottle and made sure I washed it out thoroughly. Still the same reaction... burning and itching. I took a 3-month break and shaved my face clean to give my skin a break. When I started using it again, the bad reaction was the same. I just decided to take a look online to see if anyone else has the same or similar story and I found a lot. I think I'm going to visit Just For Men website. I've used this product for a couple years with no issues. It was actually great. Up until mid October 2018 when I purchased a new box. The box was a little different (taller) but no mention of a different formula or anything so I didn't see the need in testing it on my skin first. So I applied it and all was good for a few hours. Then I noticed some itching. Then some serious itching. Then my skin started to leak some pale yellow fluid like sap from a tree. This lasted 2 days and I was very concerned but it eventually went away. I thought it might have had something to do with the dye but having used it for so long I thought maybe it was something else. But it went away after a couple days so end of story. So I thought. I used it again... And the same thing happened. I'm currently nursing my chin through my goatee with a paper towel to soak up all of the fluid. Sounds gross I know. But this is the aftermath of using this product.

I used Just For Men for years and in mid October I noticed a difference. I just bought a couple boxes of hair dye and beard dye same color so I was ready for a few months of nice colored hair and beard. So the new box was just like the rest of the boxes I’d used before, no notices of formula change etc... so I colored my goatee at night before I went to bed. Woke up in the night with a very itchy face and my lips were itching too. I would chew on my lips to itch them and all around my mouth. Even when I ate food they were very sensitive and salt or spicy food really made you say - "Wohaaaa that’s not right!!" So like so many JFM users I thought it was something else.
After a couple days of it and no sign of it leaving and itching all the time I finally thought I’d look up online and see if there were any issues. Well to my amazement there were many complaints about the product and many that sounded like mine!! So I found a dye at the hair salon for beards and now that’s what I use w/o any itch. Took over one week before I could eat right and the itching finally subsided. So bye JFM and yes there are safe dues out there men. And for the people who think ya just need to be natural I’ll say mind your own business. I look too young to have a grey hair!! And I have this a 2 star because my symptoms weren’t as bad as a lot of guys. But ya all can say to JFM and get another brand. It’s out there.

In the middle of that same night I awoke around 3AM to burning and itching that about drove me crazy, forget about getting back to sleep. The next day due to the constant scratching, blisters started forming and releasing fluids. As I sitting here typing this review I'm wiping the beard are off my face to keep the fluids from the sores/blisters from running. It was like I could chew on my lips and it felt good. I just thought it was from a previous infection in my tooth months earlier. Then when I would eat the salt would burn and anything would make your lips feel very sensitive. Still I thought that it was from the infection earlier but started thinking that has been over for months.
It was bothering me so badly it would wake me up at night and I’d itch my lips w my teeth and my beard for a long time. Thought maybe beard dye, no I never had any issues with JFM ever. This product is scary. I started to notice an itch, nothing too crazy after about 20 minutes. 2 hours later, after my company photo, I went back to my work area, followed by going to the bathroom. My face was littered with redness in every area that I applied this product. Talk about freakin' scary and embarrassing. By the end of the night, my face was burning, and itching, worst part I had these blisters all over.
Saturday, I went to work, I noticed whenever the temp changes (hot outside), uncontrollable urge to scratch an itch, which I won't touch without lotion or some type of facial cream for fear of further damage. It's Sunday now, my beard is ridiculously itchy, and my skin is slightly wrinkled. Yes you read that right, slightly wrinkled. How do I know, you might ask? Because I have a baby face! The unfortunate situation that I noticed is, that the areas that I applied Just for Men the most, the left and right side of chin, is growing a lot of new white hair follicles that I didn't have before, and the amount of white hair I did have quintupled, and now my whole chin area is now coming out really white.
This is in the matter of days!!! This stuff not only caused new hair growth (white) and the areas that were already black are now white, it damaged my skin. Are you kidding me??? This stuff is poison. Do not buy!!! You will damage your face. I pray, I don't develop worse symptoms. I'm actually having to take the day off of church, because of my facial blisters. Thanks a lot, Just for Men, and just so you know, I'm holding on to this batch, and searching for an open lawsuit, or searching for a way to start one, for damages and pain and suffering your product caused me.

Used JFM M45 for over five years with no complaints. Used a new box in late March 2018 and had severe irritation, red welts appeared, unending itching. Shaved my beard and used Neosporin (it's all I had). Took about four days for my skin to become normal again. Dumb me, thinking the rash was due to an aged box of JFM, I tried a new box of M45 this evening. Same rash, irritation, itching; (so I shaved and used my neosporin again). If it helps, I purchase all my JFM from Walmart. I have noticed Walmart has a difficult time keeping the shelves stocked over the last four months. Thought the product was just becoming more popular; but perhaps their production has gone down because they are literally hurting people. I am done with JFM. People say I look younger shaven anyway. Hope someone gets these removed from shelves and sues the hell out of this company.

I went online because I still have the tubes I used in Feb ‘18 where I got a terrible reaction and was thinking it was a one-time thing & was thinking of trying again. But I’m thankful I checked because all of these numerous reports were very similar to my reaction or worse. My face got extremely dry and painful where I did not want to go outside. After about a week after trying different moisturizers & not getting any better, I started getting open sores on my back, arms & hands. Wondering what was going on and still having severe pain in my face, I went to the doctor where he put me on a week's worth of antibiotics. Finally it cleared a few days later, but as an outside sales rep I had to make excuses for my appearance for about 3 weeks! Shame on JFM for releasing this product & they deserve a class action suit.

I've always used ION professional hair color (permanent). After years of using this product I got tired of the burning itch. I decided to try Just for Men beard color. Following the directions, including the 24 hour patch test, and thoroughly washing it out in 4 minutes. I carefully brushed in "on" my mustache and beard. Then carefully wide combed it through. Knowing the roots would still show gray but completely keeping it off of my skin. After 4 minutes, then 3 shampoos the color was absolute perfection! I had red itchy skin but not overwhelming.
Four days later it was practically gone, faded off. I reapplied using the same procedure but left it in for five minutes, as directed. Same red itchy skin although no actual gel touched it. I figured it was close enough that the fumes caused it. Again, a week later, gone. I waited two weeks from the second application to be sure my skin was ready again. Third time, same process. FIVE days later my mustache and, goatee and chin beard area of skin is absolutely unbelievable!! Gross, I know but... Chunks of thick hard white skin are hanging off. I actually have 3 lesions. Sitting at my desk a customer asked if I was okay, I said, "Sure why?" She said, "There is a lot of blood coming from your chin." I went to the mirror and these open gashes were flowing. I estimated over a 1/4 cup of blood.
I went to my Dr. and he said I have severe "excoriation". He said he has had many patients over the years with the same affliction and they were all from "Just for Men". He said it should have been taken off the market years ago. He told me I am going to have major scarring. He prescribed ** cream USP 100,000! He told me to use it 3 times a day and to wear a paper mask over my chin. He said with the severely deep and open lesions, it would be very easy to get an infection. Obviously he advised me to never touch it again and said he has told all of his similar patients they should seek legal counsel against Combe Inc. as these scars will be similar to suture scars!
I am speaking with attorneys now that feel this will be filed as a class action lawsuit. Regardless what is mentioned in the warnings, this product is and has been causing extreme cosmetic disfiguration. I will now have to always have a gray beard. I can't shave it because I look like a two hundred year old monster beneath it!!! *If you are concerned enough, about your appearance, to color your hair; be concerned enough for your health and stay away and advise friends to stay far away from this product!!!

OMG. I echo everyone else. I started using JFM about a year ago. It worked great. I am ** so I used the jet black mustache and beard. My beard is thin and low (less than half an inch thick). However, starting in Oct 2017 I started getting a weird stinging/burning after each application... I didn't think much of it... I also started getting what I perceived as irritations from "ingrown hairs" in my beard that were very itchy and painful and would bleed and scab. Still I didn't think much about it or connect the dots. I continued to use JFM every week to more irritation and then started noticing a red rash on my neck, and pectoral/chest. Still didn't put it all together and continued to use JFM.
The final straw came in Jan 2018 when the itchy, stinging and pain in my beard and the itchy rash on my neck and chest became so severe that out of desperation I shaved my beard off to address the perceived issue of "ingrown hairs)...and to my horror I realized that they were not ingrown hairs but rather large discolored lesions that I can only describe as clear puss filled scabby burns all along my face's beard line. It was then that I started searching the net and to my horror saw all of these other complaints. I went to doctor for treatment and was prescribed a steroid cream. This is the only thing that has given me some semblance of relief. ** jfm.

It appears that only the skin where the hair follicles have been dyed are affected. I only have a goatee so I'm guessing my skin irritation is not as severe as those I see posting that seem to have full beards etc. It appears the more hair you have to dye the more of whatever it is that does this absorbs through your follicles. So the more you use the worse your reaction seems to be. I will find another product because I cannot tolerate the itching and the sores that happen because of the irritation.

I used JFM for just under 2 years (starting in 2014). I stopped using the product for about a year as I shaved all my facial hair off. My last application (Feb 2017) I followed their (JFM package directions) and completed a skin spot test; no reactions. I then applied JFM sparingly to my graying mustache and beard. I applied the JFM hair dye about 9:00 pm in the evening...
At 1:00 am the next morning I woke up with outrageous chemical burns to my face. The pain, swelling and overall discomfort was very serious. As I applied the JFM product to the hair on my neck, the edema and tightness of skin/tissue on my neck was the worst. I found myself having trouble breathing! I became so concerned that I drove myself to the nearest ER at 2:30 am and had to be treated with 3 IV meds for 7 hours to abate the swelling/edema and shortness of breath.
The ER doc (and his clinical assistants) said they are seeing record amounts of men just like me for the exact same thing - severe chemical burns from men's hair dye. The MD, PhD (ER doc) went on to explain that "most likely" the offending substance that I'm SO ALLERGIC to in JFM is Phenylenediamine (also commonly called PPD). The ER doc also said - "Very good decision to get in here with this condition. You have marked swelling/edema to your throat and it's transferred into your esophagus. If you'd waited much longer to present to ER, you could have easily gone into anaphylactic shock." So NOT good!
Who would've thought that taking 30 minutes to get the gray color out of my beard could have ended my life. In my opinion, JFM (and all hair dyes heavy with PPD) should be removed from the market by the FDA/FTC, or whatever govt agency with the power to do so! The more you/I/we are exposed to PPD the worse the allergic reactions become... clinical fact.
PLEASE stay away from this product (JFM hair color)! There are all natural products (without the dangerous PPD and other hyper-harsh clinically dubious chemicals) in them and they work well. Just Google "All Natural Men's Hair Color" and you'll find several for sale at reasonable prices. I'd provide some specific links here, but then some reading this would think I'm an affiliate for these products/brands... and I'm NOT. I do want to possibly help other men (and women) who might be hyper-allergic to the harsh chemicals in these commercial products. If I can spare one individual from going through the ER nightmare and 2 week recovery I endured - this review will have served its purpose...

However the next day my face burned and itched unlike nothing I had ever felt before. I kept telling myself not to scratch it but that proved impossible. After a short time of insane itching and scratching I noticed edema on my finger tips that was caused by the blisters that had formed and that I kept scratching. By my estimation this was comparable to a first to second degree burn.
This was way worse than the worst sunburn that I've ever had. My face started to swell, not only was it visible but I could feel a ridge that started right at my beard line. This insanity lasted a couple of days in which I seriously considered going to the ER. I looked on the internet and I saw where ** cream would help. That did nothing. Then I read where apple cider vinegar would stop the itch. Sure enough, that worked. It burned like holy hell and I would have to sit in front of a fan but it stopped the itch and actually promoted healing. Then I took some ** pills that helped ease the itching even more and got the swelling to go down.
As I mentioned earlier this episode wasn't enough to teach me to never use this product again. After a couple of months I thought maybe it wasn't that bad. So I dyed my hair. Fortunately it the effects wasn't as severe on my head but it was still very uncomfortable. However I had the exact same reaction on my face as if I had dyed my beard. Blisters, the whole nine yards. I'm posting this 4 weeks after that last episode and my face is a dried up mess. No more blisters or itchiness. But there isn't enough moisturizer in the world to satisfy the need of my face. I wake up in the morning and have to wash my face with a wash cloth in order to wipe off the dried up cells that have collected. I have to do this 2 or 3 times a day and then apply a thin coat of ** cream followed by a thin coat of moisturizer.
This is my take on JFM. Yes, it definitely needs to be taken off the market. I'm not entirely convinced that they changed an ingredient that's causing all this. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. I personally believe that I reached my tolerance level and my body could not deal with it anymore. It's happened to me with other products though not with the severity of consequences. This is just my opinion. To anyone trying this for the first or the tenth time, I would exercise extreme caution.

Used this product diligently and sported a nice beard with lots of compliments for almost 3 years until March - horrific rashes and discomfort with oozing sores etc. Turned out they made some change that created a terrible reaction for many. I spent over $500 in physician’s visits and topical medications while trying to find cause. Missed work time and had some stress associated with the unknown cause. In time I shaved and found that it was the product when I applied the amber dye component to my arm and found the rash grew gradually from that point of application. The white developer and the hair dye had no reaction.

I used CVS brand hair color but was discontinued in med brown so tried Just for Men. I broke out in hives in large bumps on sides of my face accompanied with itching and burning. CVS brand did not do that to that degree.

This is horrible. I started using JFM July of 2016 and it worked great until the beginning of this year, 2017. I woke up at 2am with seeping sores on my face. Burning, itching and sticky puss running down the sides of my face. I don't know what the Hell they did to the formula, but I simply can no longer use it as the pain is horrendous. It has done this to me the last three times I used it. First I thought it was due to leaving it on too long, so I tried less time, still it happened. So then I thought maybe it is because I switched from light brown to dark brown and went back to the light brown and it still did it. So now I simply have to quit using this. Which is a shame because it works great and the color lasts me about three weeks. But I'm sitting here with puss running down my face and neck with my face on fire as I type. JFM change back, PLEASE!

My husband has been using Just For Men mustache hair dye for the past few years. When he uses it his skin gets oozing blisters and very painful. Have you changed your formula? He never had bad reactions before from it. I would advise you to check into this. I see tons of complaints. He will not be using it again.

I used this product about 15 times with good results... then all of a sudden every time I've used it, burned my skin, broke out in puss etc. I've stop for weeks... brought same product at different stores thinking it would help and no it burns my skin... Even a year later I tried again thinking maybe they found out the issues and still burnt next day... Don't use this product.

I have been using JFM for around three years with no issues. In the last few months I have experienced swollen lips, burning lips, dry cracked lips and redness with burning and itching on the chin. I actually was putting an ice pack on my lips as they were burning and swollen so bad. After I read that JFM claim nothing has changed, never having an issue prior I didn't stop usage immediately. After stopping usage the issues have subsided. So it was JFM causing this. After research I am not alone with this issue. They claim nothing has changed but I call BS; maybe the board members of Combe Inc. should use their product and experience what having your lips on fire feels like.

I had used this product a couple of times last year without issue. Last week I decided to do it again before a wedding. I did the patch test they recommend for allergies and had no issues. About 24 hours after applying the dye I started feeling an itching sensation. Very quickly that developed into burn like marks all over my face that have been getting worse with each day. I genuinely don't complain about things, but please believe me when I tell you that everything people have written in these reviews is true. It's been a full week and every day the burns/abrasions get worse. Please don't use this product. Not only is it extremely painful, but I'm embarrassed to leave the house. I ruined my pillow & pillow case, and even got my couch stained with blood. Basically anything that touches my face gets ruined because it's constantly seeping. This product needs to be yanked off the market. I can't believe they can get away with selling this to people.

My husband used Just for Men, and suffered a severe chemical burn. Within hrs, through the night, and into the next morning, he had severe itching, burning, welts and blisters weeping, rash that was spreading. The back of his neck was full of blisters, and his scalp was blood red. He washed his hair so many times, took ** and cortisone cream on his scalp, and is now using Aloe Vera. It is absolutely horrible, and totally unexpected. This was bad stuff for him, and many have gone through the same thing with this product.

I've been using JFM (Black Men) over four years with no incident and the past five months product has given me scabs, puss, clear liquid leakage and terrible itching. What the heck did you do new to the formula? Very dissatisfied and upset about this.

I have been using Just For Men for about a year and have had no issues with it till this past use. Woke up about 3 in the morning to find my face itching and blistering. My lips are swollen and my chin is seeping pretty bad. The product was the dark black version. I will not be buying this product again. I am very disappointed about how this has turned out!! From reading the other reviews I have found that this horrible condition can last for over a week. Not happy!

After carefully reading about the preparations and procedure for using JFM, I was pleased that after applying it, my mostly silver hair was a light brown color. This was my objective. But after several days, I began to experience itching. At any given time this involved no more than 1-2 areas of my body. The area(s) could be localized anywhere from the top of my head to my ankles. Some days were worse than others. After about two weeks, the itching went away. [Then, I did a second patch test for allergenicity, which was negative, like the first one.] The duration and intensity of these effects were similar to my skin reaction in the past when I have accidentally made contact with poison ivy leaves, but different in that there were no red welts.
As 73 year old retired biochemist, I’m familiar with the ingredients in JFM and their possible allergenicity. The chemical structures of two of these, p-phenylenediamine and 4-hydroxycatechol are problematic. A Google search, keyword p-phenylenediamine, clearly provided abundant evidence of its allergenic potential. 4-Hydroxycatechol (1,2,4-trihydroxybenzene) is a structural relative of the allergens in poison ivy. So even though I really liked the way my hair looked after use of JFM hair coloring, I obviously won’t be able to use it again. Or for that matter any of the others because they all seem to contain one or both of the substances above that I suspect caused my itching problem.

My husband has used Just For Men Hair Color twice in the past without any problems. The day before Easter I put Just For Men hair color on my husband and I put remainder on my edges, afterwards he complained that the product was itching. We washed it out and he stated that it was still itching with a burning sensation. I washed it again then we went to sleep. The next day my husband and sores and bumps around his neck and ears and he stated that it was still itching and burning. I looked at his neck and it was red with bumps and part of his chest had small red bumps as well.
Later that day my ears and chest became inflamed with fine bumps and around my edges were itching and burning. The itching was so bad neither of us had ever experienced such reaction. We googled the product and found out that there were over 700 complaints with the same reaction as ours. Just for Men to take the product off the market until they have corrected the chemical components that's causing this painful and costly side effect. My husband and I had to go to the doctor to get a shot and other medication to alleviate this rash. I hope no one else use this product until it can be determined that Just for Men is safe.

I have used JFM for 12-15 yrs on a mostly weekly basis. I have never had a problem with it until the past 6 months. It started with what looked like impetigo around my mouth (got an antibiotic). This past winter it got worse and I had the horrible itching, redness, scabby/** sores. I wanted to rip my face off. It wasn't impetigo at all, but the results of using this product. It seems that they must have changed the formula as I had used it weekly for all those years and was completely satisfied. Why can't they just admit they made a mistake and go back to the former formula so men like me can use it again. My husband has recently been having the same issues.

I have used JFM (Real Black) for about 6 months. Each time I have done the skin test on my arm with no reaction. I bought a box in February 2017 and used it a couple times. The second time I used it was April 5. Within 24 hours my face became swollen. My face felt like it was on fire from the burning I encountered. At night I would wake up to my face leaking pus and fluids that ended up becoming crusty scabs. All around my mouth my lips had swelled. My face under my beard and mustache was red from the burning which lasted a week.
I had to reach out to the doctor to have steroid cream prescribed to help control the itching and burning. Was also put on ** for 5 days. Today I still have flakiness and itching around my mouth. I don't understand how a product has so many complaints regarding chemical burns, since 2012, how it can still be put on store shelves. This company needs to be sued, and this product knowing that there are many issues out there needs to be banned from store shelves. Like the cigarette manufacturers having to put labels on their packaging about what smoking can do to your health with pictures of lung cancer.
They need to post warnings and pictures of how your face can look after using JFM products on their packaging. Pretty sure there would be a tremendous loss of sales in the product. Maybe I could be the poster guy for this advertising. Definitely will never ever use this product again and will search to find a product that is safer and all natural.
