I signed up for the free eFax trial. I sent one fax to test the service. It took several tries to even successfully be sent. I decided not to proceed with the efax past the trial date. I went to cancel the service and was unable to. They stated I was already in the paying phase, even though I was still (by days) in the trial phase. I was told to send an email to the support desk. I sent an email requesting the service be canceled. I never received a response. I was charged the monthly rate and in addition, the resolution when I contacted support was to offer me a different monthly efax plan. There is apparently no credits available for anything associated with efax, per the support person.

Always dismayed when people seem to try to keep you captive to a service - Was looking through some billing and found two eFax accounts. Looking at it, seems like we had been customers for 14 years, but last few years had practically 0 use. Our responsibility for not keeping track, but ran into several negatives while trying to cancel our service.
b> Called via phone, and of course got a 'high volume' and told to go online.
c> Joined via chat, waited more than 15 minutes to get connected. Started process, then while waiting for the cancellation to be processed I got distracted for a bit, got a "do you want to keep a discounted version" followed by a "you have taken too long and will be disconnected".
d> Once reconnected again, went from #1 in queue, to 2 to 3 to 4... not sure if I was flagged as a 'wanting to cancel' customer or what, but had to wait again to get reconnected and make my same request.
e> Amusingly, even though I was logged into our account, nothing carried over into chat, so had to revalidate all info again. Chat was also having an issue and everything was showing up twice (my messages and their responses) making the whole thing even more unprofessional.
Beyond making it difficult/time consuming to do this (spent over 30 minutes when it was all said and done), our proactive vendors on other platforms would have reached out to us based on lower usage and realigned us to a more appropriate plan. Also typically there would be some kind of pro-rata refund when cancelled (especially just 2 months into 12 months), but I get that's a personal business decision as well. Not what I would consider customer friendly.

They helped me by email very quickly. I had a question and they replied right away and were very kind. Their website is easy to use and setup was super fast. I set this up to receive a fax since I don't have a fax machine. Would definitely recommend.

CONSUMERS, BE AWARE!!!! For the past 24 months, the faxing service that we signed up for and agreed to pay $19.99USD per month has cost us over $300USD per month. When signed up after the free trial, we chose the $16.99USD per month. Still, we were contacted by their sales team using terms such as "limited time offer" and "HIPAA COMPLIANT Service" to pressure us to the more expensive package. Yet a few months later, we found out there is no package that would be "Unlimited," nor does the company offer it for a "LIMITED TIME" despite the evident change in subscription from $16.99 to $19.99, the company denied ever knowing or offering such service.
When we tried to move the service to another provider with better reviews and actual unlimited fax pricing for $12 per month, eFax blocked the transfer (porting) of the number to another service provider. The fax number that was advertised to all our customers and vendors was now locked to eFAX, and stopping service meant losing the advertised fax number. COMPLETE SCAM.

I needed a fax service for two faxes in 2021. I didn't cancel before the end of the trail so I ended up paying which I acknowledge was my fault. I only set up one account. However mysteriously there were two accounts under my name opened at the same time. I only discovered this when I saw that I was continuing to be charged for a service I believed to be canceled in December. I contacted customer service and that's when I learned of the other account.
Their customer service is frustrating. They repeat the same questions and don't listen to your responses. It takes longer than it should to resolve issues. Talking to their customer service is like talking to a robot or a brick wall. It doesn't matter that I hadn't been using the fax number or didn't know there were two accounts. There's zero flexibility, no chance of a refund. They will just remind you of their contract and that's it. They don't work with you at all. It was completely frustrating and if I ever need to fax anything again I will not be using their services. I've worked in customer service for years, most recently as a director of customer support. If they were on my team they would either need to be retrained or fired.

The terms stated in the customer agreement do state that service fees are non-refundable irrespective of usage. Having said that, exceptions are always considered. I signed up for eFax so I can work from home and have access to remote faxes for communicating with the doctor offices. I was offered free trial for 30 days and won't be bill until 30 days. When I checked my bill within 2 weeks, I was charged $10 every other day for using this. I called the CS and they told me it was correct and I went over using the eFax. I explained that I should never be charge since I was under the trial period. I asked for the management and they told me they will have management contact me after taking my info but never heard back from them. I have been charged over $139 within 2 months. I want my money back and they refused to communicate with me. Now, I want to cancel the service and for a full refund for false advertisement and for unauthorizing charges.

I was expecting a fax and checked my account to see if it had come in. I found that my account was suspended, but I hadn't recalled getting any notices. I called CS and got the Ireland help desk. We could barely hear each other at first, and I thought, "Oh boy....this isn't going to go well." But I got Stefan P. Multilingual Customer Service Advisor, Consensus Cloud Solutions.
He was extremely (my payment hadn't gone through). It hadn't occurred to me because I was using a company card but found that the expense was locked out of my card. Once we worked out getting the payment to go through Stefan P activated my account and waived my late fee. Even though this was a simple and common problem, I decided to post this because I was planning to cancel the account when I called in, but left feeling like I was with the right company all because of my experience with a real human being who was kind, friendly and helpful, which is a great combination.

I was looking for a free/cheap online fax service (I only send2-3 faxes per year) - possibly paying by the page. That's when I came across eFax - which I thought had some decent reviews. It did indicate that there was a free Trial - so what did I have to lose. Well, so I picked out a fax number (which I didn't really need given that I just wanted to send a few pages - but oh well). Then it asked me for my billing address and credit card - a little concern there - but ok it is free trial and you take the risk that they will bill you if you don't cancel on time (been there done that - so ok). There is no obvious mentioning of the fees or service package at this time unless you specifically look/click for them (I didn't as I thought that I was signing up for the free trial).
But then to my consternation the message that the account is active to receive fax and I signed up for a USD 16 per month package. I contacted customer service per chat a few minutes later - after which they asked my for my last 4 digits of my credit card to validate the account before they could do anything (I did already specify at that time that I wanted to cancel/not have any subscription). Thereafter I was told that the account/subscription was active and billed. However, of course I could cancel effective immediately or at the end of subscription period.
I said immediately and that was done - just then to be told that I still being billed USD 26 (USD 10 for activation and USD 16 for the subscription). In fact it was clarified then that the cost would have been exactly the same if I had canceled at the end of the month and I would have gotten at least some service (the agent didn't mention that at all). So I got charged USD 26 for exactly nothing - having an account active for 1hr without any message traffic. Asking why I didn't get the free trial - I was told that I hadn't picked it and that given that I had now closed the account it was too late anyway to fix my selection. So far as I am concerned this is specifically deceptive advertising - first lure a possible customer by promise of a free trial, then setting up the sign-up process in a way to make it easy to overlook where to pick the free trial and specifically not summarize the cost being incurred until after the order had been placed.
The only comment I got from the agent was that all the details are in the service agreement (like no refunds) and it was my own fault that I hadn't specifically reviewed the billing conditions. Maybe I made a mistake - but shouldn't a company help their customer not to make such mistakes? The ones that use this as a way to make profit are in the end scammers in my book. Very very disappointed.

When canceling during the free trial, make sure to save the confirmation number. They won’t have any record that you canceled and will ask for it if you message to correct the issue. They’ll also say that you could provide the cancellation email, but they don’t send one out- at all. Even after I canceled and confirmed with a customer service representative, I never received a cancellation confirmation email. User beware.

Rip-off - no cancel allowed online without going through an agent, no billing notice, no cancel processing, and no refunds for future periods. Just cancelled with eFax, a Ring Central brand. Service works ok when needed; I haven't used in almost 2 years. Last December the renewal increased to $50/year minimum, so in January when I got credit card bill I cancelled online. Then, I was looking at my CC account online yesterday, I saw that another $50 charge came through for 12/10/21-12/9/22. I went to eFax site, logged in, saw it was active, hit "cancel" button and the web response was "this account may not be cancelled online, you must either call or start live chat."
I initiated a chat. After back and forth on what I wanted (cancel and refund of recent charge), the agent asked me to provide proof that I had cancelled last year. Without this, they would not credit the $50 or even $48 for remaining 50 weeks. I searched my email, nothing from eFax in over a year. No cancel notice form last year, no billing notices in any of recent years. I mentioned I would put dispute on CC charge on my account, and post unfavorable reviews online and with Consumer Agencies - it didn't matter.
Over the last 3 years, the account that I signed up for a free trial (at the time $15/year) has cost me $115 and I have sent two faxes of a couple pages each, last in 2020. Even now, I have no confirmation email, but I made sure to save the chat record. Consumers shouldn't have to worry about things like this, but I fully expect a charge next year from this unethical outfit. It's a shame, as the product itself, while overpriced for me, works fine. I wonder how they stay in business if they need to bilk the consumer this way.

Thought a fax number would be of use for the company so I used EFAX as they seemed to be the biggest company for this service. Used it once and only once because it didn't work. It said the transmission was successful on EFax but my customer did not receive the information, and the information was accurate after rechecked to be sure. I wanted to cancel the service so I did it online. That didn't work as I kept getting charged so I had to call. The person on the call was great however, I could hardly hear them and having to repeat themselves over and over again. This whole system just didn't work for me, from beginning til the end. *Just ask people to use scanners and email, less paper and more reliable!

I feel completely scammed by this company after signing up for a free trial that ended-up charging my credit card $16.95 for months until I realized. Customer service refused to rectify the situation in any way, shape or form and basically abruptly ended the chat I was on when I started asking more detailed questions about “my account” and how this could have happened. When I inquired about how many faxes were actually sent throughout my “subscription,” I was told that 1 fax had been sent (by me) and that the account had received an astounding 167 inbound faxes which was complete news to me. In other words what that really means is that my “account” had received 167 SPAM faxes during that period and that not one was legit.
When I expressed my utter disbelief and disgust with this I was told that eFax is not responsible for any spam that may or may not be sent and was sent a link explaining the company’s legal liabilities (or lack there-of) regarding any and all spam sent and that’s when the chat ended abruptly. They refused any sort of refund, compensation or willingness to rectify the situation. In all, I was charged over $200 for a service that I used once during the free trial period. In my opinion this is a complete scam. eFax uses extremely shady business practices to rip people off for as much as they possibly can. Not to mention they must sell all of their fax numbers to the third parties sending the massive amount of spam in the first place.
This company is absolutely awful and should be sued via class-action lawsuit (in my opinion). My advice is to steer clear of this company no matter what. Don’t fall for the free trial “promotion” as I did as well as many many others have apparently. Basically when all said and done, it cost me over $200 to send 1 fax!! What a freaking joke. They should not be able to get away with ripping people off, especially to this extent. It is unethical and just plain wrong on so many levels! Obviously I’m furious. Simply put, eFax is no bueno. Do not make the same mistake I did!

I completed the subscription form, but then changed my mind about subscribing immediately (because of conditions that were disclosed only at the end of the process). I never used the service. I wrote to them the same day, and several times after that, to request closure of the account and a refund. They closed the account after several months and never refunded the 13.20 that I paid for nothing. These policies are not up to normal business standards. I would avoid this company in the future.

The levels of security is the same for efax Corporate and Consensus. Our system was working fine. They changed our service without consent to Consensus. We were held hostage. Our business was held up for 3 day with phone call after phone call only to be told to email this person or that person. No one would help us. We even tried call J2 Global. This company is a scam. The only way we could get our faxes back was to open a new account, pay more with less service. We were talked down to as if we couldn't understand IT terminology. They will not release the fax number so they can keep ripping off their customers. Please look to another service and save yourself the headache and money.

I call for a billing problem and I speak currently french because I come from Québec (Canada) and I have problem to understand people who speak faster in english. The first customer prepose have a bad accent and speak very fast and after I ask him to speak slowly, he prefer to transfer me to an other customer preposee.
Marie, the customer preposee, answered to my problem of overbilling because my cancellation online a month ago did worked. I ask her to speak slowly because I speak currently french but have difficulty to understand english when people speak fast. She offer me to do directly my cancellation online an offer me the opportunity to have free fax service until the 25th of September. She was really kind and mentioned me that she have a french name 'Marie', but don't speak this language. She take the time to explain me the offer and she was empathetic to my situation. I cancelled my service in 2019 (see partial chat thread below to validate). They charged my card in 2020 but unfortunately I did not notice it. They charged again in 2021 and I noticed it. On 7/28/21 I spoke to Eda reference # **. She followed up via email on 7/27/21 (see below) saying they couldn't find any record of my account and to dispute the charge. I disputed the charge with AmEx and AmEx responded by saying efax / J2 denied my account was cancelled. I suggest not using their service because if you ever need to cancel you may find yourself in a bind. They owe me $169.50 from 2020 (too late to dispute charge) and $169.50 for 2021.

Also asked the higher support team, and they cannot locate an account with the charges of $169.50. They advised calling the bank to dispute the charges. Tried this service once, but then I could not access my account, login does not work, the password won't reset, and generally rejects any attempts to get past the login. This is scary, considering they have my PII and credit card information and permission to charge. I decided to cancel it, so I called and, surprisingly, my call was answered quickly by a human, and a very professional rep, who promptly took care of my request to cancel my account. However, I have not received a confirmation of cancellation, and generally feel this request has never reached a resolution, especially considering numerous reviews I've seen here from customers unable to get their subscriptions canceled. I also tried online support, but no reply there.
So, what do we have here? A subscription service that scams you into signing up with your credit card info, which then locks you out of your account and disables you from accessing or cancelling your account. If you happened to transmit any faxes, you can't even access those records. Have I mentioned they have your credit card info and can pretty much do whatever they want with it and you can't stop them? Class action, anyone?

We started out using Efax services as an individual account. Then we migrated to a corporate account. Efax failed to merge the two account and kept billing us for both accounts monthly. When we contacted Efax, they said we were supposed to send a specific email instructing them to cancel the individual account; although we told them this verbally while setting up the account. So, we sent the email confirming we wanted to cancel the individual account. Guess what? They still billed us for both monthly for subsequent months.
When we requested a refund of the months billed, they only refunded one month and ignored our request to refund the other month; Even though the request was made way ahead of the billing cycle. NO ONE acknowledged receipt of our email requesting the refund, but when we were signing up they were diligent in making themselves available. When we requested they cancel our corporate account due to improper billing, they did so immediately, never asking what the problem was. STAY AWAY from Efax. Do not enroll in automatic payment. Do not even give them your payment information. If you've been with them for a while, please check your past invoices and payments very carefully. This has been a nightmare. I wish I'd read the reviews before signing up with them.

They will charge you even if you cancel, then the website doesn't give you the ability to cancel your account (as their email reply tells you to do), so getting your refund is almost impossible without filing an unauthorized charge claim with your credit company. Unless you need a year's worth of faxing, don't sign up for this company. They are NOT transparent regarding their cancellation policies, and they DO NOT make it easy to reach someone for assistance....and even if you do, they do all they can to keep your money and not return it if you want to cancel AND get a refund! I signed up for the 2 week free trial on my iPhone and was immediately charged. When I contacted customer service they said I couldn't do anything since apple billed me. I said how is this possible and I was told that the 2 week free trial only works if you sign-up online, yet the app even said there was a two week free trial. This is insanely shady to not find a way to refund and absolutely unbelievable that the app doesn't automatically wait 14 days to charge. Very shady and unethical company.

Updated on 06/01/2021: I tried to cancel a free trial on the website but the link under the billing tab did not exist in my account. They have no phone number listed and chat service was unavailable each time I checked. I contacted efax several times via email to cancel a free trial, which they refused. Following my multiple requests to cancel the free trial, they charged my credit card. My free trial stated it would end and the service works be $9.99/month. They charged me $14.59.
I placed a review on Consumer Affairs and they responded within 36 hours with a request to email them at a different email address. I did so, explaining the issue, and they continue to blatantly refuse to cancel the account, claiming they can’t verify me despite providing them all the information related to the account, and also refuse to issue a refund for the unauthorized charge.
Original review: I signed up for a free trial with efax and promptly canceled the free trial. I tried to cancel online but the option didn’t exist as indicated in their FAQs. I emailed the company 3 times requesting that the trial be canceled and they refused after each email to cancel the free trial. The company proceeded to charge my account for the membership following my multiple requests to cancel the free trial.

It's impossible to cancel your subscription. On the website they say you have to chat with a representative, and then the representative says you have to go on the website. Then, they simply ignore your messages and stop answering. I definitely do not recommend eFax.

Run away! Do not waste your time and hard earned money. I recently discovered that eFax is a scam. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way and too late to remedy anything. Many years ago I used the service and from what I can recall it was not a negative experience. Most recently I was in the middle of a 14 day free trial which included up to 150 pages and after the fact, I learned that it allows for 60 seconds per page. I was billed additional charges $10 x 2 on my credit card from the onset of my “Free Trial”. I assumed they were just pre-authorizations… not the case after all.
After repeated calls to customer service (outsourced overseas) and several convenient disconnections I was finally connected to a supervisor who explained that I was charged for time. I only faxed 130 pages….well within the allotted amount. However the rep told me it took 59 minutes to fax 21 pages to account for one leg of the fax job and some astronomical number (amount of time elapsed) covering the fax job in total…. time well beyond the 60 second/page window. Time should not be the burden of the sender… It’s out of our control. This policy should have been clearly stated prior to sign-up. The service as a whole is unclear and somewhat wonky. The tracking and so forth are something left to be desired as well. I would strongly advise against eFax. I do not recommend.

This app is a completely misleading. It says it's free for certain days then you will be charged. You have to put your credit card so you can activate. Do Not do it. After 15 mins of using app I received an email. They had charged $10 dollars. Minutes later another $10 dollars. I called to complain and was told if it goes over 60 seconds You start getting charged. I canceled. They said they will refund. Ten minutes after ending call I get charged another $10 dollars. There is nothing about free. I paid $30.00.

eFax free trial is a scam. There seems to be no way to cancel your subscription through eFax and stop them from charging your card. I subscribed to their “free trial” to send a fax once and while their fax service does work, their customer service does not. I tried to cancel the “free trial” through their website which tells you to call their customer service. When I called their customer service, the representative on the phone somehow said she couldn’t hear me as soon as I mentioned that I wanted to cancel my eFax account. She then hung up. It’s pretty suspicious that she couldn’t hear me as soon as I mentioned canceling my account. Do not give eFax your credit card information. It seems that I have no choice but to contact my bank soon to have them block future transactions and file a dispute with MasterCard. This seems to be the only way to have the charges from eFax stopped.

After months of disputing transactions with PC Financial who told me that I was emailing an autoreply which magically sent autoreplies to the autoreply, Efax has offered me a refund and resolved the issue through the Consumer Affairs complaint board.

Based on Canada. To cancel is a problem and lots of stress. When you request by email, you get an autoreply. When you try to dispute the transaction to PC Financial, they tell you to send an email and then allege that you replied to an autoreply. Hard to cancel. Is Efax respecting of consumer laws? To cancel an account, you have to pay for a month. It asks you to update billing info, even though the month was paid for and it charges you again. I have several fax services I use, and this was the worse. The fax quality is horrible. Do, not be conned in thinking this is #1 service. It's not.

I was using eFAX services since sometime, initially I was on monthly billing which was converted to annual billing at some point. As I was not using eFAX due to changed business needs, I tried to cancel it. I called their phone number to cancel which no one answers even after calling multiple times and waiting in excess of 30 minutes. It has recorded message to log in your account and cancel. I did that step as well, now it redirects you to chat with them. Chat is basically robot which directs you to email them. So I am on next step to email them which auto responds to call them. So I call it vicious circle of overcharging outgoing customers. BEWARE of these people and be ready to be charged $174.45 if they have your credit card.

I signed up for a FREE service and was duped into thinking that is what I had. Pretty much eFax is following the cliché of tech companies. Scamming folks with promotions for FREE service then requiring a credit card, which eFax claims will not be charged. I signed up on 01/22/2021 and I cancelled the service within a week and was charged $10 for signing up and $26.95 for a months service, which I did not agree to. Stay away from eFax. This is not an ethical company. They lure one in with a FREE promotion only to use nasty bait and switch tactics.

I had canceled my services over 6 months ago then my card was charged again for $99.99. I called today to again cancel and was told they would cancel but would give no refund the $99.99 that was supposed to cover until Jan 2022. If I could find my cancellation number they will refund me but without that they would not. I can't find this number and I should not have to. They should have canceled the account and we would not have to deal with this. Why should I have to pay $99.99 for a service I will not be using and have not used in over 6 months. They can even look at the account and see that it has not been used. I deserve a refund and hope they think better of this practice.

The eFax service is not possible to cancel. It's made to frustrate by design. I would say it's harder to cancel than a gym membership. Canceling through your account online is not possible: The cancel link in their billing page is non-functional by design. The cancel link tells you to open a chat window with a bot. The bot tells you to go click on the cancel link. Cancelling by email is not possible: An email sent to cancel generates an automated response. -It says you have to do it through chat or a phone call. Cancelling by phone is not possible: Their phone system is designed to frustrate you and make you drop the call. It repeatedly dissuades you from continuing the call. When (finally) someone picks up, they are very courteous as expected from what appears to be an outsourced call center. The representative agrees to cancel the account. ***The account is not actually canceled, forcing you to call back.*** Avoid. Buy a fax machine instead.

I signed up for eFax to send a fax to my child's pediatrician. Don't know if she received it. The only reason I signed up was because there was a $10 setup fee and then it claimed to be free for two weeks. Turns out they bill you for a full year. I tried to cancel, but had to wait 2-3 days before I could. Once the option to cancel was available, it gave me a dialog box directing me to their chatbot. The chatbot, and their email support system, told me to follow the same process (which doesn't even work) to cancel my account. I've tried email, chat, phone and Twitter, but no reply. This is unacceptable and I will be telling people just to go to Staples to do a fax, because eFax is a ripoff and not worth the time. I wish I'd never have signed up.

I have tried to reach both their billing and customer service departments on every phone number they have worldwide, on multiple occasions 4 January - 8 January 2020. The one time I was able to get a person to answer, the line soon disconnected. It would be in their best interest if they would actually answer their customer support lines so that customers can arrange to pay them.

I needed to send a single page fax a few months back. Signed up for this service to get it handled because it was for a doctors appointment. Seems pretty clear-cut when you sign up for the service but if you ever need to cancel your service buyer beware. They give you instructions on the website but the instructions given do not match what is on their website. The only way to REALLY cancel this service is to either cancel your card or use a prepaid card so they do not constantly charge you for the service. This service is based on the monthly subscription fee and if it is not paid they try to tack on another fee to that. I have been trying to call and attempting to get someone on the phone for two weeks now as I do not want to pay for this service to no avail. This is highly suspicious that a company would make it this difficult to cancel the service you may no longer need. The only way I know how to get in contact with them is going through a review site.

Do not recommend at all. I had a free number for over 10 years and was receiving faxes periodically. I just received an email last week, telling me I have a new account and phone number. So I thought it was a fraud and close it. I tried logging in to my old account and received and error. I contacted eFax and told me they gave my fax number to another person and opened me a new one without telling me or consent. Now some stranger is getting my personal faxes. I have to contact all healthcare providers, banks and government agencies and tell them not to send my personal info to that number anymore, it will be going to a stranger. I hope I do not get ID theft, I will hold this company responsible. Customer service just shrugged. I will never purchase anything from this company. Do not recommend at all!

Terrible customer service. I signed up for an eFax Plus account, which I no longer use. I decided I wanted to cancel my subscription since I never use it, but when I call customer support to do so, no one answers the phone. I have also sent numerous emails which have gone unanswered. I am growing increasingly frustrated as they have no problem taking money from customers, but refuse to help in any capacity with billing/technical issues. This company is fraudulent.

A vendor needed me to send them a fax so I signed up for a free trial of eFax. I logged on to my account there five days before the trial period ended and went through the steps presented to cancel my account. All looked good on my end; I reached the survey wanting to know why I was cancelling. ("One time use".) Unfortunately I did not notice until two billing cycles later that I was actually being billed for the service. I went to the website and initiated a chat which resulted in the pending (most recent) charge being cancelled, but they have refused to budge on the first charge. I am pursuing with my credit card company. I now know that if you cancel, you should get a confirmation number and email. If you cancel and don't get these, then contact them immediately!

I give one star because it's hard to reach support for billing/technical issues. They don't return email request, hold time is horrific, unexplained charges and there are always issues with faxes being unsubmitted with no resolution from support. In addition they will charge you for the faxes that were not delivered. Do not purchase eFax because you will be overcharged and very disappointed with all the technical issues and charges by the minutes it take to try and send a fax. I think I'm going to just buy me a fax machine.

It does what I need, but it needs a paint job. Account interface looks like it has not been updated in years. Other than, that I don't have any other problems. Faxing by email is the way to go versus using a machine.

I signed up for the two week free trial but then was billed $179 the same day. I sent an email to eFax straight away but never received a response. I then tried reaching out through chat and the representative Brian C. disconnected the chat 3 different times after I explained the situation. I then tried calling the number posted on their website and was put on hold for over an hour and then I finally hung up. There is clearly something shady going on with this company if they are so deliberately evading their customers. I strongly recommend not giving this company any of your financial info!!

I signed up to eFax in 2010. In 2011 I received an email from eFax sales that stated that my account had become inactive and that it will be closed. I replied to that email and advised that I wanted it closed and provided the account number and account details. Now in 2020 (9 years later), I have discovered that they have been debiting my credit card ever since!! I have tried contacting customer services who are a nightmare to reach via chat and was told after waiting around an hour that I need to contact EU customer support as I’m based in U.K.
I called and again after a long wait, I got through and was advised to send my evidence via email that I had closed my account in 2011 which I did (all emails are saved). And then I received a negative response that nothing can be done, I replied and advised that I had provided proof of cancellation their reply was that to settle this amicably they would offer me 4 months refund!!! As a gestured goodwill... So I’ve been paying for a service that I canceled in 2011, charged for the next 108 months and they expect me to accept 4 months refund as an amicable solution? Pls. do not make the mistake of signing up to this service, they claim to offer excellent customer service but when it comes down to it they will try to wriggle out of their responsibilities to their customers!

I am just astonished that a company the size of eFax doesn't jump on things when they have made an error. EFax had us increase to a corporate package, to save money. Instead, we were then billed improperly many, many months ago. We brought this up to eFax. They looked into it and even acknowledged the error. Yet, not only has it not been correct, and no credit applied, and no accounting of all monies paid presented as we had requested, but they continued to auto-pay even when we removed permission from them to auto deduct their bill until this was all credited and the accounting confirmed. As the President of the Company, after a staffer had been trying by email and phone over and over, I personally emailed them asking for someone from management to contact me. Not a single email. Not a single phone call. EFax is truly disappointing and I would suggest if a corporate member you find an alternative company to use.

I had an E-Fax account for years. I retired in 2006 and didn't/don't need to receive or send faxes so I cancelled the account. During my working years I downloaded and saved a number of documents received through EFax and they are stored in the .efax format. I can NOT now open these documents. I have downloaded the current EFax software in an attempt to open them but every time I try I am required to open a NEW EFax account and of course PAY FOR IT. An online chat today confirmed that I have to have a CURRENT EFax account to open old documents.

I have sent a single fax with them back in December. I don't use fax on a day to day basis, I only needed to send one page to bring my minor daughter back home after a funeral. Since I don't need it, I cancelled (or so I thought) right away. In April I noticed my account was billed by them and I immediately tried to phone them and cancel. I got no answer at all, no available chat, no one answering the phone, no response to my emails. Same story every month. They have now billed me 118£ for a single page of fax and I can't reach them to get my money back and stop these payments. They are crooks and don't care about their customers at all! I've never been treated so unfairly.

I opted for the free subscription, but the service didn’t work. I tried calling the customer care number for cancellation, but my calls were never answered. Eventually, I used the “virtual phone chat” service and asked a customer care executive to have the service cancelled (weeks before the deadline). They said the account was cancelled, effective immediately. Even my fax number was deleted. However, they secretly stored my card details and charged me today.

I signed up to their free trial over a year ago. Ever since then I have been trying to cancel. You cannot cancel via their website. I have sent many emails that have gone unanswered except to say I need to call to cancel. When I call to cancel I always get voicemail. They have taken over $200 from my account!

I have completely had it with this company. I have called several times to cancel my subscription and an agent never comes to the phone. The website tells you there is a cancel option which is a lie. They also tell you that you can reach them by chat in which again, no option. I was billed yet another 16.95 and have been trying to cancel for over a month. If I do not receive a refund I will report them to every review site I can find for fraud. This is ridiculous that people have to jump through hoops like this. Terrible Company!!!!

Signed up for services that included a 30 day trial, and immediately realized it was far too expensive for our needs. Despite an immediate assurance from our sales rep, services were not immediately cancelled, and this led to emails with two departments, each saying they could not help us. We told our sales rep the same DAY that we wished to cancel. This seems to be well within a 30 day trial period. We disputed charges with our credit card company and ended up having eFax sticking us with over $125 of charges for no services provided. We continued to receive billings through the summer despite assurances of cancellation back to Feb/March. Email replies bring zero responses. To this date, we are still out the money, despite never having used any services. No customer satisfaction here, find a company with CUSTOMER service.

Signed up for account using free trial link (14/7 days, no 10$ activation fee), was charged immediately on my credit card for $26.95. Tried to cancel using online Billing -> Cancel, but got error messages (tried on 3 different computers, different browsers). Not sure if this feature is something that works for everyone -- maybe someone has had success using the online cancel? Called customer service, on hold for 20 min. Tried online chat, got connected to sales after waiting, sales person didn't respond to chat for several minutes, told me I had to get to Customer Service Chat for cancellation, had to wait 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, phone agent got my info, cancelled my account, and sent me confirmation email (which was pretty quick -- kudos to Brook). Email said the refund would have to go through approval, which was weird, since this was supposed to be a free trial. The chat agent informed me that I did not go through the free trial link, hence the $26.95 charge, but that's weird, because that's how I got to the sign-up page.
All in all, not a very good experience. Got the feeling the company is being sneaky. I tried out the "free" service thinking it would be a good low risk trial, but as a lot of unscrupulous companies do, they make the cancelling not transparent and not easy. I would really like to believe this is all an innocent happenstance, and that my $$ would be refunded without delay or issues. The usage and interface, although a bit clunky, are fine for basic use, but the sales tactics have left a bit of a bad taste.

I opened an account with this company last month. Without notice it was suspended and they took my money out of my bank account without providing the service I signed up for. I called Customer support who told me that if I wanted to reactivate my account, I would have to provide them a copy of my bank statement along with a copy of my debit card. Reference numbers ** and **. This is not an ethical company. Do not use.

My experience with the sales rep prior to signing up for eFax for my company was very good. After I signed up sales evaporated into my rear view mirror. I was told while I was waiting for my fax number to be ported over that a temp line would be provided for free. This was not the case, there were line charges, admin charges, etc. on my bill and when my number was ported over there were more charges to move the line. I spoke with billing and was referred back to sales. I contacted my sales rep and her manager twice two weeks apart giving them time to respond. Still nothing and cringing while I wait to see my next bill. I do have to say tech support is excellent, but that's where it ends. As highly rated as this company is, they do not live up to their reviews. I will be looking for another company that values their customers.

I signed up for a "free trial", unfortunately gave them my credit card number. When I contacted them to decline service, they would not let me cancel. They never sent one fax for me. They billed my credit card for $213.00 for this "free trial. I could not cancel the account. I was able to cancel the bank debit so they could no longer debit my account. I talked to Patrick ** on 2/12/20 - he said that he would give me credit but instead, I was billed for another month at $149.90. I called them back again and they assured me that they would credit my account. Never heard from them again until today, received a notice from a collection agency for the $149.90. These people are crooks - do not deal with them. I went to a competitor - GOLD FAX. Could not be happier!!! If you are looking for a fax service call them.

I recently signed up for the free trial and was unimpressed with their online interface. The website is clunky and confusing. When I cancelled my account online before the trial ended, I had to click through several confusing pages confirming the cancellation and was supposed to receive an email confirmation of cancellation within 24 hours. I would think they would be able to send a confirmation right away like other online companies. I never received that confirmation, instead I was charged for another month.
I called them and the agent said that without the email reference code, there was no record of cancellation. How am I supposed to provide an email reference code if I never received a confirmation? I proceeded to click through to cancel again and asked if he could see that I cancelled. He could not. It appears that their online account settings are dysfunctional and the only way to change your account is to call. They do not provide this information. I really hope that my account has been deleted, because this company seems to me to be a scam.

I signed up for free trial earlier this year. Efax has taken numerous amounts of money weekly. I have emailed no reply and daemon replies. The 0800 nz ph is disconnected. Hi gang, So just a heads up on eFax. I cancelled my account yesterday (6/10) and I found out something pretty ridiculous today (6/11). If you cancel your account and have remaining pre-paid dollars on your account you have to call in after you cancel to get a refund. eFax will not automatically refund you the difference. So if you dropped $50 dollars in your account, used $10 of it and then cancelled your account they would keep that $40 unless you raise a stink about it. Because of this specific thing I won't be using this organization again and I will ACTIVELY inform colleagues, friends, associates, strangers etc. of this practice. I have a feeling that since the minimum is $10 bucks most people likely use 4 to 5 dollars of that and just leave the rest because it isn't worth dealing with. That is what happened to me. I realize it is a small amount of money but to not automatically refund the difference is... well... revolting.

I needed to fax something to an organization and used their free trial. I uploaded my document and submitted it to send. I waited 15 min., it didn't go through. I tried again, waited, but it still didn't go through. I resent it several times, even breaking it into two smaller files in case that was the issue. It still didn't go through. Their website kept saying that I would receive a confirmation email if it went through, but I didn't receive one. This was in the morning. In the mid-afternoon I received multiple emails stating that the faxes went through (hours later) and I was now charged $50 for overages (for resending the document). I tried to get into my account, but it was suspended for some reason. I used their customer service chat option to talk with an agent, but they refused to speak to me about it. I tried the chat again and he told me that their system was down and they couldn't help me. I should try back in an hour or two.
Multiple hours later I called customer service and as soon as I mentioned a refund she said that their system was down and they couldn't help me. I sent an email to them, as I saw that some had received assistance that way. I have yet to hear back from them. I called back the next day and spent close to an hour on the phone, being passed around to four different people. They refused to give me a refund and when I mentioned that I needed to speak with someone that was in charge that could help, the fourth representative stated that I could, but that right now their system is down and so they wouldn't be able to help. Their website (which is what I used to send the faxes) was deceptive in that there was no indication that the faxes sent were "in progress." From my own experience, and from others' experience on this website and elsewhere, it seems their system conveniently goes down whenever you want a refund. This is a deceptive company.

They charged me $1.00 despite explicitly stating that it was a free trial. I sent about 15 pages. The "confirmation email" took about an hour, which seems like a clever way to ensure that customers try to send the fax again and can therefore be charged. When I tried to cancel my account over the chat feature, I was told to contact them in a few hours because system difficulties would not allow cancellations at this time. I contacted them again about three hours later, and a different customer service agent told me the same thing. Maybe I am being overly suspicious because of their other inconsistencies, but it seems that this is perhaps an automatic response when a customer tries to cancel an account during the free trial period.

Don't deal with this company, they take your credit card details and then are uncontactable if you wish to cancel the contract, is that legal? I have waited on hold for extended periods of time listening to the world's most irritating recorded message with no answer, left a phone message and received no answer, sent a chat message and received no answer. Email messages are not permitted due to "security reasons" (security of their income maybe?). Money for nothing....

Since April 2014 eFax have been charging me every month on my debit card to someone I've never heard of. I never set up an account EFAX, I've never received an email from them (prior to asking for a refund) and I have never used the service but they have fraudulently taken money from my account every month for 6 years. I only noticed it was coming out of my personal account when I stopped using the card every day and switched my personal account to another bank. They refuse to give me a refund and are now ignoring my emails. This is a scam. Watch out. Also I think the positive reviews on this site look incredible suspect. The language doesn't sound like real customers. I don't trust them at all. That's the only reason this company doesn't have the lowest score possible.

Like everyone else, tried it once, but couldn't see the use for it long-term. Who uses a FAX in 2020? But it's a total joke. This is what happened:
2. Customer service says there's supposedly a "problem with the page" and sends a link to another one. This one works for login.
3. I go straight to the CANCEL-button, expecting this to be a quick and easy end of this trial. NOT SO... Suddenly it says that for my "safety" I can't cancel my free trial, other than through a CHAT or by PHONE.
4. I'm supposedly no 1 in line (like there is a LINE to a FAX service in 2020??) and after 10 minutes still not a soul there, while the timer keeps adjusting the time as it goes.
5. Then I notice that I can't even chat, because I'm "INTERNATIONAL" so I get an even WORSE deal - I for some weird reason need to CALL which I don't do. I need everything in WRITING but of course, companies like this don't.6. I made a search for the Swedish so called "service number" and it informs me that people have been harassed from this number by sales people who are calling them several times a day or in the middle of the night, trying to sell various services. I am not calling that number.
So I contacted my credit card company to make sure that this joke of a firm doesn't withdraw a cent from my account. If needed I will need to block my card. So if anyone feels that this sounds like a serious, trustworthy company, then be my guest and enjoy their service. I wish I had never come across them in the first place.

Offered one month free plus v reasonable price for a whole year if I stayed, but I declined. No pressure sales, just polite acceptance, contract cancelled immediately. Will certainly use them again.

I needed to cancel free trial - eFax is brilliant but only needed for 1 fax to my farmacia an emergency. Very understanding (Thanks Marijana). I am in Spain but Marijana had excellent english and was very professional. I recommend eFax to anyone requiring a fax service, Website very easy to use, instructions clear and you get notification that it has been successful. Ability to set up a contact list is a very good touch. Also Customer support is great. If I had a need for a fax facility I would use eFax every time.

I have just signed up to eFax and first thing I had to do was call for support, I was expecting a long wait as we're in the COVID pandemic lockdown, but the call was answered promptly. Got charged for faxes that never went through because I was over my ‘page limit’. 7 faxes each listed as 1 page each somehow exceeded my 150 page limit. Customer service was no help. Will never answer the questions that are asked. Kept offering more services. Also made it very difficult to cancel.

The fax service is as expected. Although their cancellation policy is a pain to work with. If you need to cancel, you are REQUIRED to call or chat with them and cannot do so online by yourself. I reached out to them via the 'Reach out to us' section about my cancellation and no one bothered responding. Next thing I know, they charged me an additional month's subscription fee. This is ridiculous, would not recommend due to the hassle of cancellation and eating up their customer's money unethically.

I paid $170 for the full year subscription. I sent 16 faxes for a total of 176 pages. I received 12 extra charges on my credit card for $10 each for $120 total. I called to request a refund. I was told I faxed over 2000 pages. I have email confirmations for 176 pages but I was refused a credit. FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD. I am disputing the charges on my credit card. Never have I been treated so unfairly.

On 4/6/2020, I signed up for the 14 day free trial. I was to receive free faxing on 150 pages as well as the $10 activation fee was waived. My account was not supposed to be charged until 4/19/2020 if I did not cancel the free 14 day trial. On 4/7/2020, my bank statement reflected that they had already charged my account $10 as well as there were two $10 transactions pending.
I spoke with a representative that stated failed fax attempts are still counted as completed transactions and because color fax takes longer to transmit my 11 page fax actually counted as 70 pages. The representative refused to reverse the charges therefore I was forced to contact my bank and dispute the fraudulent charges to my account.

Free trial is a complete scam. Cancellation must be done through their "secure chat" which means you need to log in a wait in a queue for 20min. First attempt, I was told my account was canceled, but I was charged three days later. When I contacted a second time, after another 20min wait, they had no record of my previous cancellation attempt.

Updated on 04/02/2020: I recently made a complaint about eFax not being reasonable in assessing their late fee charges. I posted my dilemma here and I received an immediate follow up from eFax via private messaging stating the charge would be reversed and I would receive a $15 credit toward next years renewal. However after reviewing my online eFax account for the last several days nothing has been reversed or credit issued. I tried reaching out via private message several times receiving no reply. So I'm reposting again here to see if I can get someone at eFax to deliver on what they promised to do. It shouldn't have to take this much effort. Please make good and update my billing. Thanks.
Original Review: I use eFax for years, however the company has no grace period should your bill not get paid on time. I recently updated my CC number, because of fraud. I pay yearly for efax, and I received a notice that my billing had been declined. no other notices had be received by me from eFax. When I updated my CC information and submitted my bill there was a $4.99 late fee that they will not reverse. I think this is a poor practice, especially during the covid 19 problem. I would like to have this charge credited back to me.

I recorded the eFax rep Helen as she represented her herself. If you could rate less than 1 they would have received it. Totally fraudulent business practices!!! This company needs a class action lawsuit against them protecting the public because they a scammers scamming thousands of us!!! Efax lies to you about their service and billing practices and porting instructions for you to take your Fax number elsewhere. They are a fraudulent behaving company with extremely unethical billing practices as well as business practices. I was charged unauthorized charges on my credit card, immediately noticing this I contacted Efax refused to reimburse me for the charges to then back pedal to give me ONLY 1/2 credit towards future charges. Efax lies to you about the 150 incoming faxes. 150 outgoing faxes is not true. They will attempt to bill you for unsuccessful faxes and make up BS excuses.
Efax tried to bill for unsuccessful outgoing faxes even after their representative is caught on phone recording saying unsuccessful faxes do not count toward your total! If you have unsuccessful outgoing faxes they lie on the phone. Tell you it doesn't count against your monthly quota but billing tries to charge you for faxes that don't go through! I notified the bank but efax has still been fighting to be paid for service they didn't fulfill or provide!!!! Lastly a phone number I had almost 20 years they are fighting to give the porting Instructions saying it's theirs and I opened the account a year ago with that Fax number. What stinks for Efax is I have the phone recordings and business cards with that fax number 4 going back 20 years. Again Totally fraudulent business practices!!! This company needs a class action lawsuit against them protecting the public because they are scammers scamming thousands of us!!!

We have had multiple billing issues with Efax, we switched to the cooperate account for HIPPA reasons. I was quoted for a plan that I have now found out does not exist. I have reached out to our representative multiple times with no luck, I then went above her and reached out to both of her supervisors multiple. Still NO response. They sure are taking payments every month but cannot give me any answers or contact me back.

This company does not tell you the full details when you join yet they provide false information. It tells you that you have a certain number of pages but they charge $.10 per MINUTE it takes it to go through. I only found that out after sending 32 of 150 pages I was told I had but for a charge on my bank card. When I called, they told me I exceeded the amount of pages due to the time it took for my fax to be submitted. Of course it took longer than a normal fax because that is how they make their money. I will never use them again and I am now untrusting of these types of places. Do not give them your info or else they will find a way to charge you.

Updated on 02/25/2020: I originally posted a 1 star HORRIFIC DO NOT USE review. This was because after only agreeing to a free trial eFax announced they'd be taking money from me. I emailed IMMEDIATELY and said absolutely not delete my details I agreed to nothing. They continued to ignore my emails over the next five months and I had to have my bank block them from taking more money.
I finally found their socialsupport@efax.com account by checking through the reviews here. Every other email address I used sent back passive aggressive nonsense and demands for money. Having emailed this address eFax finally agreed that I had NEVER signed up for anything and have promised they will send my money back. They have not done so yet, but at least they have stopped hassling me for payments for an account I never created or agreed to.
I still do not recommend them. However if you are going to use them just be aware they have an aggressive marketing strategy, they WILL take money from you, there is no free trial, the instant they get your details they will start billing you and they will NOT stop until you kick and shout. Having said all of that, my old boss used to use them and she found them quite useful for her business. If you have a business and don't mind being signed up to payments whether you like it or not, they might be ok for you.
Original Review: I signed up for absolutely NOTHING except a free trial. They started taking money from me despite me telling them IMMEDIATELY by return email that I didn't want their service weeks before they took the payment. I have written to them dozens of times, to all their addresses. They keep trying to take more money from me, they refuse point blank to shut my account and keep trying to force me to phone them despite being well aware that I want absolutely nothing to do with them. I have had my bank block them and written to them telling them I have now sought legal advice and that they are harassing me. I wish I had never heard of them.

Horrible Customer Service experience through chat. It was clearly communicated that I would not like to continue service, however the rep continued to try to upsell me 3 or more times (as I'm sure is their job). I dealt with a service tech labelled as "J**". Instead of continuing to help resolve my situation in a way that I believe would have been beneficial to both sides, they disconnected the chat within about 30 seconds of their last response after realizing they could not upsell me. (I'd written about 4 sentences and was about to send.)
To anyone considering eFax, be forewarned, cancelling is difficult and designed to take up your time. I want to be fair and understand a consumer's responsibility to manage their account, but this company seems designed to attempt to suck money out of clients in every way possible, with customer service reps who will end your conversation mid-sentence, and no way to cancel without being forced to hear a sales pitch first for "security reasons" (according to their help section this is why you must speak to someone to cancel). They had no problem continuing to try to sell me stuff when I kept saying no thank you, but when I wanted to repeatedly discuss my concern, my conversation was ended.
I am sure we will need faxing services again down the road. Using the service itself was intuitive and easy, and if not for this experience today, this could've been the company we returned to for the next decade or more, as we will never purchase a physical fax machine, and the Canadian Government seems to have no plans to abolish their faxing requirements. Unfortunate.

We had to reinstall a customer's computer. I could not locate an install file for the eFax app. I could log into the client's online account with no problem but she uses the desktop app. I looked through their website for any help with this. All info on their site leads nowhere. No place for a download link. So I start live chat. Very slow to respond. Finally I get a support connection with Kyle **. He will not give me the information I need without the last 4 of the credit card used for the account. The client is now not available. I explain repeatedly that I have the phone number for the account and the PIN. I am logged in. All to no avail. When I finally corral the client and we painstakingly go through her records, find the PIN and input it to the chat. No response. These people clearly don't care about their customers at all. Possibly the worst and most arrogant support I've seen in some time.

Our business needed to send an urgent fax. We signed up for the eFax plus service and received the confirmation email and reviewed the terms of service, both of which stated that the service was available immediately. Both the first and second attempt at sending the fax failed. The customer service supervisor that I spoke to on the phone confirmed that in fact the service is not active for up to a few hours after signing up. Nowhere is this delay mentioned in the agreement or confirmation email upon sign up. As previously stated, they both say that the service will be available immediately.
Due to the initial failure of the fax service, we signed up for another provider immediately and used them to send the fax. We contacted customer support at eFax to request a refund due to failed service. Both the customer service agent and supervisor refused to give us a refund, claiming that we still had an active fax service (despite no other faxes attempted since the failure). I explained that I needed the service urgently and that the service / product provided was not the product that was advertised and was therefore fraudulent. The supervisor did not care in the slightest about that issue and offered no compensation or refund. eFax is a company which does not care in the slightest about customer satisfaction or integrity. They are an opportunistic and predatory organization. Do not trust them or use their services. Go elsewhere.

I've used Efax for over a year and tolerated frequent "unsuccessful" faces; too bad I never did my research.. I was up against a time deadline today and was on it early this morning in case of any unexpected events: 4 hours after I sent the fax I had NO messages: I thought that perhaps I screwed up and didn't hit the send button. So I tried again and 6 hours later I had no confirmation one way or another and STILL no acknowledgement regarding the first fax sent in the morning. I called customer support and believe I got someone in Manila whose English skills were limited to "sometimes it takes some time: it is still sending". Absolutely the worst, bottom-of-the-barrel-God awful support experience I have ever had..I just can't find the words.... Very good. They lost me at "Hello".

The service itself works great, multiple options where you can fax from (email, app, website etc), the only catch for me is my fax volume which is low. No option to downgrade to a low plan (hence why I am giving 4 and not 5), the entry level gives 150/150 in and out, drop the zero off both if these and that's what I need, I only need about 20 a month but still need to pay same rate which is a shame. Besides my rant on cost I still need it and the value of faxes I receive are needed and worth the cost, the support staff are very nice and helpful and in my experience I've never had issues calling and getting through, emails usually answered within a few days.

I would highly recommend you not to use this company. I only sent less than 100 outbound pages yet I was charged $40 during my "Free Trial Plan". They never disclosed that they charge by the minute. Telling me to read the "Customer Agreement" to learn about the per second/minute charges. They then charged me an additional $16.78 for a failed fax. All in all after doing about 2 weeks of business with these people, I checked my bank account to learn that I have been charged almost $60. This is ridiculous and I would recommend you stay far far away from this company. The amount I was charged is equivalent to 550 pages which I have not even sent 100 pages. This is a joke! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH EFAX.

I signed up for this service with the promise of a free trial and the first 150 inbound and 150 outbound faxes free. I sent a total of 3 faxes, 20 pages total, to a fax number that I routinely use and had just faxed an hour earlier from the office. The receiver let me know that they received the fax from my office but needed some additional documents. So as I was already home, I signed up for eFax. I sent the 3 faxes, having to split it up because of the limit on the size, equaling 20 pages total. I was never notified of any technical errors or that there was an issue in transmitting, I was not notified of anything, not even that they were sent.
After a half hour I checked my account details and there was nothing listed under sent. I called the receiver and they did not get the faxes but confirmed their fax machine was indeed working. I called customer service and was told that "That's odd, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes at the most." I was told nothing other than wait and see. I woke the next morning to confirmation emails stating the faxes were sent successfully. It took 3523 seconds for the first, 3877 seconds for the 2nd fax, and 4180 seconds for the 3rd fax. That's 58.72 minutes, 64.62 minutes, and 69.67 minutes, that's over 3 hours total. I was subsequently charged $10.00 for sending those faxes even though the first 150 are free.
I contacted online support to cancel my account and inquire as to why I was charged. It took on average 5 minutes between responses from the customer service rep and the answers that weren't scripted were misspelled and hard to understand due to poor English. After requesting my account be canceled because of cost and poor performance they ignored me and continued to sell me their service, dropping the monthly fee 3 times all while saying "and this includes 150 inbound and 150 outbound faxes for free." I reiterated that I would not be using their service ever again and inquired about a refund. My account clearly states 3 sent faxes, 20 pages total, costing me $5.70 but they took $10.00 out of my bank account and left the extra in their system to be used at a future time (on the first day of my free trial mind you).
Again, asking why I was even charged in the first place was told "Go check your account page, that will tell you how much you sent". I replied "I already know what was sent, my account says 3 faxes, 20 pages total, either way nowhere near 150. Why was I charged?" The online customer support rep told me that I was charged because I went over 150 pages and I can look at my account details to see that but he would refund me the unused funds only.
At this point I just called to talk to a live rep. I was hung up on the first time I called before even speaking a single word. After calling back a second time I finally got a representative on the phone. I told her I wanted to file a discrepancy in billing. She then informed me that the faxes aren't considered by actual pages but by how long it takes them to go through. 1 page is 60 seconds. (In all fairness this is listed in the fine print-error on my behalf so pay attention!) I fax documents to this number regularly and never in my life has it taken so long for them to receive a fax. Upon questioning this I was reassured that the error was on the receiving end, that they send it right away and it's not their fault how long it takes for them to get it. She also told me no refunds are allowed.
So to sum it up, I was told that it WAS odd my faxes didn't go through yet which means they didn't send right away on their end as I was later told. I was never informed of any error codes or transmission problems but was later told there was an error on the receiving end? You can upgrade and pay more to send larger faxes (more money for them) or split them up and send many which take a long time and they conveniently get to charge you more for (more money for them) and it's never their fault on how long faxes take.
Was told 2 different things by 2 different reps, not well trained. I was told I'd get a partial refund and then told no refunds. Plus after contacting the receiving party they stated the faxes were blurry and hard to read. I had to resend the faxes anyway. So essentially it was a complete waste of time and money. Will never use this company again and highly recommend no one else does. I'd give no stars if possible. Horrible experience.

I was never a customer with the company. They charged my card and refused to refund. They refused to provide account information for whoever signed up for the account even though I verified my identity and gave my card # for them to search it. They would not cancel the account or refund the charge. eFax is a fraudulent company that is clearly ripping people off. Go literally anywhere else for your fax needs.

I purchased a ~$17/month plan and was charged $26.95. I attempted to use the service to send a fax to a machine I knew was working and kept getting "transmission interrupted" errors. eFax blames the receiving machine even though the machine worked to receive the fax from another online fax provider just a few minutes later. You may only cancel by speaking directly with customer service. This cancellation process took at least 30 minutes. The rep kept trying to convince me to accept a monthly plan at an increasingly reduced rate. I was finally able to cancel but I was not able to get a refund on what I paid. Do not use this service.

Updated on 12/26/2019: Was able to get a refund. I blocked this company on my credit card so I am not erroneously billed one the future. This seems like a very dangerous company. They charged my business credit card two days into a 14 day trial. I was planning on using them for years. However after this stunt and their shady and rude customer service, I have cancelled. Buyer beware.
Original Review: Billed me $10 in first three days of trial. I sent 2 faxes. They said they charge by the minute. And they would not refund. After being hung up on, I spoke to a supervisor who said he would refund. I never received. People work in India. Can’t understand them and they lie. Do not use for any reason.

Faxing is generally fine. Billing and customer service absolutely horrible. Their billed rate goes up every month. They kept billing me when I wanted to cancel. When, after a few months I finally got through to their barely intelligible customer service, they talked me into just keeping the inbound service, at a reduced rate (approx $5/mo). I agreed to this. After a few months I noticed their billing had jumped up to $46.80/mo!!!! I tried to cancel but kept getting sent to a dead-end link to cancel. I left nasty voice messages but was still billed this past month and had to stop payment and get a new credit card. Read the reviews - do not do business with this company!

I signed up for eFax and according to their advertisement they have a free trial. I realized that it wasn't going to work for me so I cancelled in the trial period. Only did one fax. I noticed on my bank statement that I got charged immediately after signing up. I waited for another statement thinking that they will refund it since I cancelled in time within the trial period. Since there hasn't been any refunds I contacted them via chat. Just don't have the time for phone calls.
I was told that in order to get a refund I have to notify them within 7days of the charge which is ridiculous because the statement did not come in yet. They told me I have to go through my bank/credit card company. They will not do anything. Of course I was upset but I was nice and the chat agent said that I can let them know my complaint through survey which I never got. I wrote another sentence how upset I was and they just disconnected. Lousy service. Product can be good for someone who needs it but don't expect free trial and who knows how they will charge monthly since this was my initial experience. Thinking how many others would have got sucked into this false advertisement.

1. As far as the faxes themselves go, I had no problem at all. Received and sent just fine. 2. Customer service is horrible. Cannot understand half of the reps. Sending overseas is one thing, but most reps' English is awful and they cannot follow what you are saying. 3. Online Chat? Don't even try it. They transfer you from one person to another and after stating your problem you keep getting "Hello, my name is John Doe, can I be of service to you". Really? Third person. 4. BILLING: Auto-billing, cannot change that, get hit with $129+ on your credit card. Good luck if you try to get it reversed. If your credit card doesn't go through, you are immediately hit with late charges. This could be a very good company if they would do away with auto-billing - total scam, and if they would get reps that speak CLEAR English and understand what the heck you are trying to say. STAY AWAY... FIND ANOTHER FAX COMPANY.

I joined eFax on 12/2/19 with a free trial. I attempted to send a fax 5 times without success. Each failure had an associated message: Unfortunately, because your email address is not registered with a paid eFax account, your fax transmission did not go through. I called tech support at eFax and was "disconnected" multiple times. I then called to cancel my subscription. The agent at eFax said there was a technical issue that might get resolved in the next few hours. I indicated I wanted to cancel my account. After three attempts by the agent to keep me as a customer with reduced costs and with an extended trial, I informed the agent that I was tired of getting new offers when I just wanted to cancel. Eventually my account was closed.
I then went to MyFax and signed up for a free trial at a lower cost than eFax. I successfully signed up for a trail and attempted to send a fax. Incredibly, the interface to send a fax was identical to eFax. They are the same company. I got the same failure, for the same reason. I attempted to immediately cancel my subscription, but was "disconnected" two times. The following day I was able to cancel my subscription. Next I signed up for a free trial with Fax.com. This worked like a charm. I was able to send two faxes, no issues.

I signed up for a free trial. Everything went well. I needed to fax some information to my doctor. So, I did that, and on the same day, I canceled the free trial. I don't have any complaints. The faxes went through successfully, and when I wanted to cancel the trial, I chatted with customer support and they canceled the trial for me, sending me an email afterward to confirm the cancellation.

This company doesn't deserve any stars. I signed up no problem but when it came time to cancel it was an absolute nightmare! I was billed for 3 years of service that I didn't use. I had proof of cancellation but was told no refund because I emailed my request to cancel to the wrong company department. I would have expected a reputable company to forward it to the proper department or email back to let me know of the mistake. It has cost my company over $400 CDN over 3 years. They kept my credit card info and just continued to bill me each year, ignoring my requests to cancel the service and without my permission.
After 45 minutes on the phone and a chat with the manager. I'm told he will put a request through to the finance department for a pro-rated partial refund. Then he went further to say that they may not accept my request. At this point I'm feeling this company are scammers. They took $ from my credit card for a service I wasn't using and didn't cancel it on 3 occasions (twice by phone, once by email) when requested to do so.

Originally, I had a fax subscription with Fax8 -- a HIPAA compliant web-based fax service, annual fee $56, and I was allowed to send/receive 1,000 fax per month. In May 2017, eFax took over my subscription from Fax87 and I assumed eFax was comparable to Fax87. I was WRONG. My eFax Plus subscription was not not HIPAA compliant, the annual fee cost $203, and was only able to send/receive 300 fax per month. In addition, I never received an annual notice for the eFax subscription payment. I looked at my account setting and it was Default set to not receive payment notice via USPS or email. I would never agree to not getting a notice for annual payment.
Because my annual subscription account is paid through May 2019, I requested a partial refund. eFax informed me there is no refund policy!! I told customer service that I needed to speak to someone else, they advised, "I'm sorry, but eFax does not have a refund policy so talking to someone else won't do any good. It's stated in your contract.” However, I never signed a contract with eFax, I signed a contract with Fax87!!!!

Beware!!! They are the worst ripoff company I have ever dealt with! eFax ripped me off really bad!! None of my fax attempts ever went through over the course of 6 attempts over the course of 3 weeks!!!! I thought maybe the fax machine was not working or turned off. It was a government fax number though so it should've been. I even called the dept and asked them whether their fax number was working properly or not. They told me that of course their number was properly working. They said they have been getting faxes come through without any problems or complaints from anyone!
Then I called efax to try to cancel, so the rep talks me into another trial which he told me would end on 11-25-2019. Along with a trial of e-voice!!! Then they charge me $16.95 on 10-29-2019!!!! I tired to call twice to get this overturned. Then I was promised that someone would call or email me on 11-4-2019 after it was investigated, but they never contacted me! I had to call again myself and then this "Charles" tells me that someone should have emailed me..Needless to say they said "No." so I had to file a non authorized charge against them with my bank! Do not ever use this company! They are absolutely the worst! You will be ripped off!!!!

I have used this company for the past 3 years but no longer need this service, as I tried to cancel and have my full year's worth of service refunded $50.00. I was told I could not receive even a partial credit. I have tried to have my credit card on file removed once again not an option. I will now have to call my credit card company and have a chargeback issued, more time I do not have to spend on a simple process. So advice shop for a more user-friendly company!!

This is a scam trial. They set up auto draft and when you try to cancel you are sent an email to call as services cannot be cancelled via online. When you call they try to give free months and extend services. Company policy is no refunds so you are just out of luck until you call. Can't recommend such a company that is on a money grab.

However the confirmation letter [from eFax Customer Service] received at my e-mail address said: "Thank you for choosing eFax Plus! Please save this email as you'll need these details to update your account and edit your user settings." After a week I cancelled the trial, through their UK Customer Service number +442039497354. I would have thought no more about it, until I saw that I had been charged $26.95. I phoned their UK Customer Service, and was told by a man that since I had signed for eFax Plus I was charged from the date that I had signed up (for the Free Trial !) $16.95 + $10 activation fee. I said that I never signed up for eFax Plus, but he insisted that I had, and that no refund was possible.
I decided to got through the signing up process again, to see if at any point I had accidentally signed up for eFax Plus. Sure enough, after signing up for the Free Trial, I received the same e-mail saying I had signed up for eFax Plus. I promptly called UK Customer Service, and told them that this was downright dishonest and fraudulent, and after the woman handling my call consulted with some superior, she confirmed that I would receive a refund for my first (cancelled) subscription within 4-5 working days, and that this second Free Trial subscription would be cancelled and no charge made. I haven't used eFax in years and see they billed me 179 for their awful service I never use. When I saw the bill pop up again I said I never authorized the charge. They refused to take it off and billed me for an additional year of service I haven't used in years. They are a total Scam company.

I opened an account to send a fax overseas, and very shortly after (2 weeks) it was un-accessible and closed down. I called the customer service to know what was happening and they asked me to send my credit card picture to be able to go further. I didn't as I started to be suspicious. However, a few weeks later, they still charged me a monthly subscription. But the account was closed again. Not to mention, that the fax I wanted to send out never went through without I received a notification about it. So I lost one month subscription and I didn't have any fax sent out. The service is clearly a scam.

You sign up for the free trial and then the website makes it intentionally frustrating to cancel your subscription. You cannot cancel like a modern website, and they don't even give you an option unless you scour the internet yourself. They do not even give you a refund for the service you will not use. I cancelled my subscription as soon as I saw the billing statement on September 3rd. I requested a refund but they simply referred me to their crappy agreement that doesn't allow for refunds under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
You can only cancel through speaking directly with an agent whose English is hard to understand and is incredibly rude, hanging up on me when I wanted to cancel, I wasn't even being difficult. On top of that, it took a frustratingly long time to actually cancel because they tried several times to keep me on an alternative plan when I repeatedly stated I only wanted to cancel, I did not want the service whatsoever. These people ought to be ashamed of themselves for consciously scamming their customers and running a business that's archaic and rude.

I signed up for a 30-day trial of efax. I tried to send faxes but they were NEVER received. I've been trying for weeks to cancel but it's impossible thru app or website to figure out how to cancel. I sent an email hoping for a response & didn't get one. Then efax charged me $16.95. After googling many times "How do I cancel efax? What # reaches efax?" I found a # to reach efax (India customer support - VERY difficult to understand). I am told they cancelled my acct but it's not refundable. So essentially it cost me over $24.00 to try & send a fax that never went thru.
I ended up going to OfficeMax who charged me $6.95 to send 4 pages + efax charged my cc# $16.95. What a crock. I think efax MAKES it very difficult to cancel purposely so they at least get $16.95 from everyone who signs up for trial...then can't figure out how to cancel. I'm FURIOUS. Filing a claim with my bank. I'll be damned if I'm paying $16.95 in addition to the $6.95 I paid at OfficeMax because my faxes NEVER WENT THRU ON EFAX.

I requested to cancel this account in December of 2018. I did it via email and was told I had to use the chat with us option which I attempted. I waited in the queue for over 40 minutes, got busy and had to stop using my phone. At that point in time saw another charged come January. I emailed them to cancel my account, give them all my information, told them I had already sent in a request. Again happened in February, in March I didn't notice any charges. I thought that it was resolved, same for April and May. Come June I notice a charge because my balance was low and upon review of the previous month's notice they had charged me but it got mixed in because I had a decent balance in my account and it didn't catch my attention. Notified them again to cancel my account.
This has been an ongoing issue in July. I contacted my bank to recover some of those charges, they gave me a temporary credit but then reversed that credit since the reoccurring charges has taken place for more than what their time frame allows. Just contacted them again via email and was basically told that they will not honor my demand to cancel unless I use the chat option. So I go to use the chat option, wait in the queue for 30 minutes, speaking to someone for the following 15 and they confirm with me they have a request on file that I put in in February but do not feel they are in the wrong for continuing my account since it came via email. They refused to refund me any of the previous charges even though over the past eight months I have submitted over six request to cancel. This is freaking ridiculous.

This company is absolutely terrible. I cancelled my subscription in writing, to which customer service refused to respond, then found a charge for the next billing cycle several days later. When I spoke to a CS supervisor, he told me that "no one in customer service" had the authority to issue a refund for the unused service because a link at the bottom of my welcome email said cancellation had to be done via chat or over the phone. The company does not even have legal standing to reject a Contract Termination Letter. I would strongly caution anyone against using this company’s services. Worst customer service I’ve ever received in the United States.

Signed up for the 30 free trial and I sent one fax. It took forever to try to send and it was terrible quality. I tried to cancel and good luck with that. Then they start charging for things and will not refund the scam charges. This company is a fraud and they know it. They just get your money and move on. Stay away from them.

I signed onto this company years ago. Well they obviously have changed hands. I don't send faxes often so I don't need a monthly plan. My plan was 10 cents a fax sent or received. No monthly fee. Just add funds as needed. Got on in June to send 7 pg fax and it would not send. I still had money on acct. I called and he said I had to put more money in acct so I did $10. Fax was sent and 2 days later I had to resend same fax and it sent. I just now get email stating I owed them 3 cents!! I went in acct. and they charged me $6.90 first time and $5.30 the second time!!!! Just realized this company is now not in U.S. but UK!! Can hardly understand and will not give you any answers except they don't have the plan that I said I had. WATCH OUT. THEY WILL SCAM YOU.

This company continued to charged my credit card despite my canceling it two years ago in 2017. This is June 2019 and my May credit card statement shows another charge which I caught this time. CS refused to reverse the charges for 2019 and took 2 months away from my refund. This is a situation where when you try to cancel they refuse to do the right thing because you are never coming back anyway. Do not start with eFax, but if you do watch out for your proof of cancellation when you do. Terrible company to deal with.

We were charged an additional $10.00 two times ($20.00) total on the same day. When I called to find out why, I was told that we had faxed over 300 pages. I later found out that it was only 61 pages so I contacted them again. The next lady that I talked to explained that they allow 60 seconds per page and if it takes 240 seconds for a page to be received then they charge for 4 pages. After asking several questions, she asked me if I wanted to speak to a supervisor and I said that I did. After holding for 15 minutes, I was hung up on. I contacted them again today and asked for a supervisor. I was told that supervisors do not take calls. This is a HORRIBLE company with terrible customer service. You do not want to do business with them.

They are set up to offer a ‘free trial’. I use the word free loosely as they immediately charge $16.95US, fax did not actually go through and continue to charge monthly. There is no spot to actually cancel this service. You need to call and have them do it. I called once and was not cancelled so then had to call back a second time after being charged again to cancel. Horrible customer service, kept on the phone for 45 mins debating with me instead of just cancelling. 0 stars was an option that is what I would give. This is a complete scam!

Had this service for a while, but faxes are really outdated, it worked while I used it. Cancelled the account, but was rebilled again. Called again to cancel -- was on the phone for 20 minutes working on the cancellation and credit back to my credit card. Received another email cancellation confirm -- will wait to see if cc is credited, then will make sure card is removed from account. Put on hold 4 times over 20 minutes to process this most recent cancellation.

I chatted with an eFax rep (bc I was traveling) to cancel my account before they charged me for another month. This person lets me know they are unable to locate any account with my card #, email, or name. I thankfully screenshotted the chat. About 2-3 days later I was charged for another month. I called & told them I tried to cancel & their billing rep said there was no account with my info.
I offered to send him the screenshots I have via email. 8 days have passed & no email response from anyone at eFax. I call again & had to explain the situation again, to which they said "sorry, we have a no refund policy." It didn't matter that I cancelled on time, & it also didn't matter that I had proof of what I was saying. They talk over you & are extremely rude, just so they can keep your $16.95. I had to call my bank & block merchant because I do not trust this company. The service they provide may be convenient for you for now, but you might regret it later.

I had some documents that I needed to have faxed in a short time frame, so I checked into this company thinking it would be perfect! Boy was I wrong! I contacted the place receiving the fax the next day and to my surprise it never went through! Even though the email said it did. Nearing the end of my free trial I tried to use their 24/7 tech support online and I couldn't get connected to cancel my subscription. After finally calling and sitting on the phone for almost a half hour I finally got it cancelled along with being told that I could not be refunded or partially refunded for the new month even though they could go in and see I haven't used their services. So in the end $16 down the hole for one fax that never went though! Such a disappointing company!

I kept receiving small charges in increments of $10 dollars each totaling about 60 dollars over a 2 week period. I called in to customer service and they told me I sent 1100 fax pages which is ridiculous. So I was being charged for these overages and no customer service person found it odd that I sent 1100 faxes. Because of this "unusual" activity, their words, they suspended my account and wanted me to send in Proof that the credit card they were charging was, in fact, my card. Meanwhile I could not log in to cancel the account because it is suspended, however, they are still able to bill my credit card, the one they want me to prove is my credit card. I ended up calling my credit card company and they put in a "Block Merchant" flag for eFax and disputed all of the charges.

If you use this service know that you will be locked in for life if you want to keep your phone number. They will let you port YOUR number in but they will not let you port THEIR number out. They claim they don't have to abide by the same rules as phone companies. Their customer service is subpar. They use low paying wages by hiring reps from India. Keep that in mind. Bad Customer service. They don't ever prorate your 1-year subscription. I decided to cancel my service with them after 14 years and wanted my phone number ported out. My subscription began December 2018 and it is now April 2019 and they stated there will be no refund. I wanted to just be done with them. Just cancel and I don't want your number nor your service. I am still not sure if they owned the number or if I port it in but there is no way out if you use their number.
Moral of the story if you use their service don't publish the fax number because if you print it on your business cards etc you will need to reprint them if you decide to change services. I figured I would just get a new number as that one was getting spammed anyway and they had no option to block numbers. Stayed with them to keep my number for years and finally I am FREE. Stay Away!

I had a 30 day free trial - I used the service once then attempted to cancel. To cancel your contract - you needed to either chat with a rep or make a phone call. This is where the fun starts! Once the customer service chat and phone rep knew i wanted to cancel. They actually pretended to not hear me or see my response on the chat line! Who does that? LOL. Tried multiple times to cancel. Now I'm going to begin to tweet them. They will be sorry they screwed with me.

In January the app didn’t work. Asked the rep to cancel it over the phone. Turns out the rep didn’t cancel it and they kept charging me through now which is April! He unlinked it from my phone subscription so it wasn't even visible in iTunes! They stated because I don’t have the reps confirmation number I am out of luck. Wasn’t able to send or receive a single fax with their system. The Rep didn’t even include a confirmation number after I canceled it today and asked for one specifically. Get everything they say they are going to do in writing in the email; with a confirmation number and double check it! Will never recommend it and will find more ways to make sure people know this company is horrible!

I signed up for eFax today and upon logging in, I saw faxes from previous owners. It is a HUGE security breach. Their faxes had subjects like loan information, bank information which would contain their address, social security, balance, etc. I can't trust this company and went ahead and cancelled my account. If I can see someone else's faxes, someone else can see your faxes. Stay away from this company. When I called the customer service, I was redirected three times and the guy on the other side said it's a "software glitch". Software glitch doesn't show faxes from 2016. This is been broken since then. This is a security issue and possible legal issue.

These people are all smoke and mirrors. Their eFax service worked fine - I attempted to cancel it via email - no, you aren't allowed to correspond through email. You can one thing through chat, another through phone call, a different thing through email. It is like a trap. The chat support didn't try to help. Just pressure into plan changes. No you cannot speak to a supervisor on chat - you have to call another number then they just do the same dance. Even getting through the maze of recordings is a joke. AWFUL customer service. AWFUL.

Just save yourself the frustration and do not even do the trial. Not only will they bill you beyond your request to cancel, but they will not refund your money to you. You can demand request to cancel all you want and they will cancel your account, but you do not get your money back. So you think, retain the account since you pay for it anyhow. Then you request to cancel at the end of the contract. That will not happen. Contract ends, so you think, but they have billed you again. Still no refund but a song and dance about how you should try their service...blah blah blah...as if you have not heard it already. I had to report the unauthorization to my bank. Cancel request confirmation. Do not care to use the service, ever again. If you read this and choose to do service with eFax, "caveat emptor."

I had an account with MetroFax till yesterday, (which is same as eFax from a consumer point of view). Both companies are just names under which they seem to operate, with J2 Global being their parent company. I had sent 2 faxes yesterday to the same number, one went through, other didn't. So I decided to check with support. I went to MetroFax chat support. I was told my account is on eFax etc. So I went to eFax support. I was getting no help, so I explained I may have to file a complaint if I get no help. The agent then asks me for my account number and card info for "verification" and immediately deletes my account! Speaking to a support had no help. All I get is, "It was human error"? The damage was irreversible. Thus this review. Never will I recommend this terrible unreliable service to anyone ever.

Yeah do not use this company. They are a scam. Immediately called in to cancel my trial cause I knew I would only be using the service once. Didn’t think about it again until I kept getting marketing emails - emailed customer service to confirm my account cancellation. The reply that they don’t process cancellations via email only on chat or phone was put in my spam folder so I never saw it. Then the charge came in. Spoke to chat that I had twice cancelled my account and it still hadn’t been cancelled. They said they didn’t process refunds via chat and I’d need to call and speak to a manager, but that they had cancelled my account.
Went to get my fax number in order to call and speak to a manager a few days later... THE ACCOUNT WAS STILL NOT CANCELLED! I was then told the company policy is to not issue refunds - aka we’ll keep forgetting to cancel your trial and charge you and then we have a policy to not offer any solution to you! They offered an account credit which I declined because I never send faxes- this was a one time out of the ordinary need! I just want it cancelled! and I was not allowed to speak to a manager after I asked for one. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

They acted like they offered me the lowest rate possible... until I went to cancel and then they offered me a lower rate. I kept them an additional year and then found out there were much lower rates out there. I called them prior to transitioning and asked if they had a competing offer. They said NO. So I went ahead and signed up for the other service and called the next day to cancel. At that point they were ready to compete for my business. They went lower 2 more times. It is incredibly frustrating to have to be ready to leave before they will offer a competitive rate. I said that I would like to proceed with cancelling my service... and the rep then said... "do you know your faxes will be deleted?" I began to ask if the cancel would be immediate or if I could log on real quick to see what was there. He said, "sorry, it's been cancelled."

Not only have not called me back to explain why the are not refunding me but I did receive an email initially authorizing to refund me. After I cancelled the service they continued to charge me and will not refund both charges. They are crooks. Do not sign up with them. I will continue to fight them and will contact the AICPA to make them aware.

I signed up for services from searching online for Faxing services as we all know actually. Parker reference **. I actually created a bank account separate just for this service as I was suspicious of any eFax company out of California mostly because it is the common strategy used for China, India and other Countries to mask a company whereabouts. But we need online fax for my illness as insurance only pays through submissions of fax billing. The first month I was charged 16.95 x 2. Guess this was my first mistake allowing this to take place but we needed the fax services.
Then following this charge each month 16.95 from a new country well you can figure what happens. My bank halted the charge as fraud, by the time I approved a convenience fee was added. 4.99 now. Same services are being charged. China guess what? This triggers another Fraud Alert. Now they add 16.99 more and over and over until I find out I owe them 49.98 not for any months used. This is for the months forwarding meaning I was paid to date but to continue I needed to pay almost $50.00. WHAT A JOKE. Just do yourself a favor and avoid this company and their INDI Customer Support. Who knows this company? May not even really be located in California or China Vietnam or some basement in Turkey. I would have given them a -5 stars.

Agent hung up and refused to confirm that I would no longer be charged now that "cancellation is underway". This whole company is a scam from no confirmation when apparently purchasing, to not being able to locate my account when I immediately notified them that I didn't intend to purchase a subscription. When asked to cancel I was told I was unable to cancel through email, once I called the automated system didn't give me enough time to enter my fax number, then after finally getting through agent hung up on me. $17 a mo for a service I never needed. Worst company I ever dealt with. Coming from someone who works in customer service.

They offer 30 day free trial, but charge you anyway. If you call to cancel, if you are lucky you will get someone in India who you can't understand. After you cancel, they still charge you every month, and you can't reach anyone. Total scam, avoid these jerks.

Signed up for “free eFax.” After downloading the app I got a welcome letter stating I would be charged 19.99 per month... Have tried phoning and chat, phone says chose option 1 or 2, then goes on to tell you they didn’t get your choice and disconnect you. With chat they kept asking the same questions, then tell you they have to transfer you to a different dept… (in my subscriptions on my phone, I have charges for 2 eFax and another eFax plus being billed for close to fifty bucks). After an hour and a half on the phone and chat, said ** it. Talk about ** for customer service, eFax sucks!

I signed up for a trial and go to cancel later on the chat. After sitting through a couple "Please don't go. We will give you this," bs Dan said it would be canceled and an email sent. Ok so I got the email and later went back to see if it was really canceled and if I could remove my card and guess what? Dan claimed not to know me and my account wasn't canceled. Go figure... So after copying and pasting the cancellation email word by word and going off about how they are no better than Indian tech support scammers he again said, "Sorry your account will be canceled for real this time." I honestly doubt that and if I get charged at a later date I will update my review.

They then tried to say that I called to cancel but then agreed to a free month. Nothing even close took place. My conversation was quick and simple... I cancelled and that is all. I used to use eFax years ago, on a trial basis, I decided to see if I can have a need for it again. However, I found that I didn't need this service at this time, so I canceled, my service was canceled right away, however, BEWARE apparently, what they claim is free is not, if you cancel THEY WILL BILL YOU AND IS NON REFUNDABLE. Nothing you can do, in this day and age this practice is not one we need to use or put up with, too many options out there. Ring Central is actually a great option and I will no longer use EFAX. Not because I was unhappy with their service but because their practices are unethical as a company.

I signed up for an account to use for work. When I left the job, I sent in my cancellation notice, giving 10 days notice before the next billing cycle. The company charged me for the following month anyway. When I contacted them to have their mistake corrected and my money refunded, I was told that it was against company policy to refund my monthly charge- all this on the 3rd of the month, mind you. I asked for an email address to which I could send the original cancellation email and was given a link to their website. The services I got were actually pretty good- I likely would have used them again- that is until I was met with a customer service team that showed me the company's true colors. If you won't give them your money, they'll just take it anyway.

I've been with the service for many years, but over the last two years, I started receiving junk faxes and spam. I did some research and found some better options, so after I was automatically billed for a recurring year, I immediately called to cancel a few days later. They refused and have worked hard to defeat my dispute with American Express. So for the moment, the charge stuck, but then when I logged in, they cancelled my account anyway. In a nutshell, this is a company that is hoping to lock you into recurring billing with zero flexibility, even though at the very top of their agreement it clearly states: "CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE TO CANCEL ANYTIME". Be warned before signing up with eFax.

I am a lawyer with infrequent need for fax but had an occasional need for VM when first signed up for Maxemail years ago. When eFax acquired Maxemail, they billed on top of Maxemail's billing so I was billed twice within three months for the identical service. They used an expired credit card, on which I was nonetheless billed and dunned for nonpayment (when I didn't realize they would be billing again). Ever since eFax took over, I have received only junk faxes (which I am unable to block) and any VM messages I am told to go to eFax site and log in. When I do so and attempt to get VM messages, I see the same email that announced the fact of the VM --- but no VM. TOTALLY WORTHLESS for VM.
I allowed my account to lapse when the credit card was replaced. It is impossible to stop the service via the website, they want you to call, no doubt to be proselytized to continue the worthless service. (They do not respond to email at all). Now they are dunning me for late payments. I hope that this costs them more than the aggravation they have caused me. I couldn't recommend this scam to anyone, am ready to report them for fraudulent billing practices.

I had Fax87 and they were bought out by eFax. eFax is horrible. They charged me 3x my monthly charge. This was even after I called them back about my bill. Beware of these scammers. If you use this service I would advise a prepaid credit card because who knows what charges would be next.

Do not ever deal with these scumbags. This is the worst and most unethical service I have ever seen in my life. I was charged for a year's service after asking to cancel. I then asked for a refund and they refused. Criminals!

My experience is much like the others. I was once a satisfied Fax87 customer before it was purchased by eFax. Once these guys get your credit card number, you will be charged for services that you don't use and never signed up for.

I became an eFax customer because they bought out the original fax service I had been using and my fax number. The sales rep, Brittany **, flat out lied about the plan and I was charged 3 times more than quoted. When I tried to follow up, she NEVER returned my phone calls or my emails. I wrote emails, called customer service. No support. I was then directed to her supervisor, Christian **, and he has never returned my calls either. I finally had no choice but to cancel my subscription and ported my fax number that I have had for over 6 years. Today I received a collection letter for the erroneous billing AND an additional "fee" of $115 for canceling their service and porting my fax number to the new fax provider. How can this fraudulent company be allowed to prey on consumers without any consequences. Their office is listed to be in California. Why isn't this company being investigated for consumer fraud?

I signed up for a free trial with a right to cancel within 30 days. After a week I found that I did not like the service, so I called the customer service number to cancel. They provided a cancel # but I got a charge on day 30th. I disputed and they refused to refund, saying that there was not cancellation! I still have the cancel # on hand. How can I get a refund? This is clearly fraudulent practice of eFax.

I was a customer of Fax87 which is a fax service for my small business and paying $50 a year for unlimited faxing. Fax87 was purchased by eFax (owned by j2 Global, Inc.) and when my 1 year agreement expired they automatically charged my credit card $99 without my permission. When I received my credit card bill I contacted the company to ask why the price had doubled and to tell them I would have changed services if I knew about the price change. The customer representative said he would credit my account $48.21 (which was done) and I would have the same service. When I received the email from the customer service representative the service was not the same, I was going to be charge for each fax in and out. The next business day I changed my service to Nextiva and my number was held up by eFax and they would not allow port.
Every time I called they told me that I do not own my fax number that I have for almost 10 years and they own the number because they purchase Fax87, therefore they will not port my number. After many weeks of aggravation, I finally got someone in the Canada office to allow my number to be ported. This process took about a month and a half and many hours of wasted time. When I asked for the balance of my money back, they refused. I disputed this with Capital One (my credit card company) and eFax would not give me a refund, but Capital One honored the credit. eFax committed multiple frauds in this situation and I would like this to be investigated to protect future consumers and have Capital One get their money back.

Exactly the same experience as everyone else and I’m going to report them to action fraud police, and I’ll keep on fighting this, this is an obvious fraud and if the UK government does allow such companies take advantage of people’s trust and vulnerability, and not giving me any protection of somehow by law! Then, (just no comment on that one!!!)??? I’m absolutely fuming, these days even car insurance companies rip you off as there’s no law to slap their butts for it and it’s always the customer paying out funds and make their pockets fatter, and also carry the fear of 10000 threats that they falsely imply to people most times! Car insurance has been a mana factory one for long time now and technically I have no other options than zipping my mouth and bite my lips offs, but I take no ** for any other thieve stealing my money.
How ** smart they are as they freely fool you into an apparently legit contract which you’re forced to oblige till the end, and their excuse is those creepy small prints, written on 191 pages - seriously??? I bet they’ve not ever read it all themselves neither. And especially with eFax, they don’t even bloody provide you with a service or they just do it all wrong - as my only one fax was sent to god knows whomever around the world, my very critically important identification docs??! I wish people whom affected by their scandals, would support me with this and back me up so thrift eFax may be punished by the law for their criminal actions - know what, only one hand clapping won’t make enough loud sound!!?

Completely crap customer service. Absolutely impossible to cancel the service. They require you to phone them to cancel, for "security reasons", but if THAT was the real reason they would require you to phone them to OPEN the account to begin with. Well, for reason that are none of eFax's concern, I'm unable to use a phone. Which means I can't cancel.
Any attempt to cancel IN WRITING via email, only result in a boilerplate response, NO matter what you actually tell them in the email. They also, as an alternative, refer to a "chat", but the link to that chat doesn't work. Some genius at eFax have apparently decided that if your IP isn't in the US, then the chat link instead automatically redirect you to the eFax homepage of the country that IP belongs to. So it's impossible to actually reach specific pages, when you're not in the US.
No one actually responds to any questions or concerns; The only response of any communication is the same boilerplate response, directing me to use methods of contact that is IMPOSSIBLE for me to use! Any type of online service like this, should OF COURSE have an option directly in the client area to cancel the subscription, which shouldn't need ANY human intervention from their side to actually cancel the service. It's possible to create services, and to upgrade services, all automatically. The ONLY reason to NOT have the same to CANCEL the service, is because the company isn't serious, and their ONLY concern is to make it difficult for the customers to cancel.
If they actually cared even 1% of their customers, they would have an option to cancel the subscription directly in the client area, without the need for human intervention. It would be both much safer for the customers, making sure the service actually IS cancelled without having to take anyone's word for it, AND would require much less work from the provider side, since they wouldn't need a lot of people handling phone calls and actually input the cancellation in the system. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE!

I canceled this service by calling and they charged my card anyway. When I chatted for a refund and cancellation. I was told they would cancel and then proceeded to tell me that they wouldn't refund. I had already canceled but then they go on and cancel BUT they give no refunds!!!

I got the service because I needed to send a single fax a couple of years ago. I thought I might need it for my business so I planned to keep it for a couple months to see. I then thought in July 2018 that I had previously canceled and was surprised I was still being billed so I tried to cancel it again. I couldn't get anyone on the phone so I left a message as instructed to on their site. I noticed that I was still being billed at the beginning of October. So I have canceled again. They said they could not do it retroactively because I couldn't produce a cancellation number. Because they never sent me one. I even showed them the record of my sending the message in July and could show that I have never sent or received any faxes in YEARS. This is a nickle and dime you to death company that doesn't care about customer satisfaction. Stay Away.

I cancelled my credit card within the 30 day free trial period. eFax continued to charge my credit card. After several months of being charged for a service that I didn't use after cancelling, I just recently noticed the charges on my credit charge account. I contacted them about the charges and they said I didn't understand their 30 day free policy. DO NOT use their service, I know I canceled the service prior to the 30 days. Conveniently they have a NO REFUND POLICY. EFAX is a RIP OFF COMPANY, DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE AND THEN CANCEL. THEY WILL HAVE NO RECORD OF YOUR CANCELLING THE SERVICE!!!

This company is one of the greatest FRAUD there is!!! They trick you in giving your credit card number by giving a free trial of 30 days. After that 'free' trial it's IMPOSSIBLE to cancel! You can phone, email or chat, they will still abuse your credit card for fraud purposes. So, the only way is to get a NEW credit card number. Also, they are very busy on ** to put them full with false reviews. And if you do put a bad review on it, they will contact you trying to 'help' you solve the issue. But actually they are trying to push you to say something 'wrong' so that they can let the review removed by ** SO for everyone here, put a bad review on ** AND don't react to eFax personnel if they want to 'help' you. And also eFax doesn't work at all!!! Big fraud!

I used this fax service one time in order to send a fax which was too large for my normal fax system. I tried to cancel prior to the trial and it said it wasn't able to find my account with my email address. I tried the chat feature and was re-queued after the "sales" person found they couldn't help me. After being disconnected from this feature twice, I called in. 35 minutes later, I had someone ask me to verify my account either thru my email address or by the credit card I used to pay. After giving them both (which were both correct), they said they were unable to verify me, and there wasn't anything else they could do for me. Never mind I was calling them from the number listed on the account. Because, clearly, some people have nothing better to do than to sit on hold to cancel the random online fax services of other people.
I asked to be transferred to a supervisor (the guy I was talking to didn't like the "**" word much, but he hadn't given almost an hour and a half of his time to canceling this unwanted service)... After another 10 minutes of elevator music, I hung up, ready to call the bank and cancel the debit card they were taking the money off of. To their only credit, the supervisor actually called me back. He had me send him an email for verification that I was actually the person trying to cancel my own account, and he said it was canceled. For the absolute absurdity of what happened with this account when trying to cancel, I wouldn't use this service or any others offered by this company. If you have to force your clients to stay with you by making it nearly impossible to cancel, you are clearly not offering a very good service. Best of luck J2.
