Jordan and Julio of Stanley Steemer in Stratford, CT just finished cleaning 7 area rugs in my home. They were very polite, clearly explained the different options available and did a wonderful job. A few rugs had stains and they were able to remove them. I will use them again!

I ordered the carpets to be cleaned and for the protector to be used on top. The technician was told NOT to deodorize. He ignored this request and did it anyway. The quote over the phone was at least $100 less than I was charged. When I called Customer Service I was told a manager would call back with 24-48 hours. I've been waiting for a week and no one has called. I called back and again no one has reached out. The carpets were cleaned well but not the area rug and the bill was much higher than I was told. I'm still waiting to get a phone call. I will definitely not be using them again and wouldn't recommend them either.

They were professional and respectful and I would request them every time I want something done by Stanley Steemer in the future. Despite having trouble with their equipment which was not their fault, they stuck with it until they got it looking great. We need more outstanding young men like these two! Hats off to the hiring manager. You need to keep these two!

I was looking to have an area rug and small sectional professionally cleaned. This was my first time booking this type of service and found the website booking to be very easy. I was given a 3 hour window (8-11am), received a text confirmation that they were on their way at 8:35 am and no one arrived by 11am. I called the customer service line, that said they would be arriving within 15 minutes.

When the crew arrived at 12pm, they were not able to perform the service as planned. I live in a condo and the website requirements for portable equipment was incorrect. If you are not in a single family home with direct access from a van, request portable equipment! The team that arrived was very courteous and helpful, but unfortunately we could not reschedule within my time constraints to get the service completed. I reached out to a local company that was able to arrive with portable equipment and complete the work needed.

This company contacted me before this this review was posted. They are turning it over to their insurance company. I was too quick to complain and really can't complain about their service.

    Original Review: Sept. 17, 2019

Recently we had Stanley Steemer out to clean our wood floor. We had been customers of theirs for cleaning our carpets for over 15 years with good results. After they were done with our wood floor, the finish was completely gone. The manager was out and saw the finish was gone in our kitchen area, our dining room area and the foyer area. He said he would turn it over to their insurance company. Today, the manager said that it was because of our dogs and they were not responsible. My wife explained that before they began the cleaning, there was a finish on the floors and that when they were done the finish was gone. They got over $300 in cash for the cleaning and left us with wooden floors that now need a new finish. After all this time with them, we're so disappointed with their treatment. Not even an offer to return of the money we spent for the cleaning..

This was not the result I got when Stanley Steemer came out to clean my carpet. Carpet still had stains, I could have done a better job scabbing it myself!! I know I am never using Stanley Steemer again. It was a total rip off and I sadly regret using them. Brenda. Very dissatisfied customer :-(

ANYWAYS - I tried to get the stains out myself and I didn't do a horrible job (which the professional complimented me on) BUT I just really wanted to professional to come in any clean for peace of mind knowing that all the bacteria and grossness was gone also the stain!

SO after going on their website and scheduling an appointment which was very easy to do I had the guy come today between 12 - 5 they told me. I was so happy that someone was on their way around 11:45. The professional, Andrew **, shows up at my door and is really friendly. I show him the areas I wanted to be cleaned, and we discussing pricing and what he was going to do, and then he quickly got started. He was really quick about 45 min to an hour and literally improved both my carpet in my bedroom where there was a huge stain and my wool area rug! I could not be happier with the outcome! Thank you so much, Andrew! He was great, I def recommend Stanley Steemer and of course, Andrew! Will be using them again.

The service that the claim was supposed to be for by them was for 4 days. In addition, a faulty dehumidifier was found after 4 days. The company advised they would only bill 2 days of that machine. So why did they send a fraudulent invoice in on services completely? Why have the branch manager and general manager fail to return calls and been dismissive to my complaint? However I subsequently found that the carpet buckled. I think I would have been better off using the $250 as a down payment on a new rug.

I recently purchased a home from someone who had 2 long haired golden retrievers. Walking into the home it instantly smelled like "dog." I contacted Stanley Steemer and they cleaned and deodorized all the carpets. I was told that after it dried the smell would be gone. It wasn't. Fast forward a week later and I've had to pull all the carpet up and replace it with hardwood flooring. I guess the only good thing is that it was only $185 for 3 rooms and it only took 30 minutes. Or maybe it only taking 30 minutes is the bad part.

Since no other chemicals were used on it I expected them to be gone. All stains came back. My rental unit had pet stains, kids drinks and dirt on it. Even though they came back to try to remove them the stains again but the stains came back fast. I purchased 2 more cleanings (over $200) but since the year expired the company would not do anything for me. Lousy customer service. Lost us as a customer who had referred several people- but no more recommending them. My renters contacted another company. Hi. I am so disappointed as I've used Stanley Steemer before. I responded to a TV promo for a $99 clean "two rooms." I called in to book, which the attendant did. I decided to add another two rooms and she quoted me about $250. When I asked why she said only one promo per buy (which is different than I've experienced with Stanley Steemer) and then said, "No, mistake. The rate to clean two wood floors is $20 more per room." Her supervisor, Jessica, refused to honor the TV price saying "We never said it was hardwood in that ad, we just said two rooms, and we meant carpet."

I asked her if she would honor the promo price as we are long term customers, the TV ad is purposefully misleading, and the $99 rate was locked in before I mentioned adding two rooms and she was completely indifferent. When I asked again if she would honor the rate, even if not honoring meant losing a long time customer (who has spent $1000s of dollars with Stanley Steemer) she refused to budge and was so indifferent that I cancelled the appointment. Seriously, after all the work her marketing people do to bring in and retain a customer? She clearly didn't care and now I will find a new vendor. I run my own business and would fire anyone immediately who treated a valuable customer like that and lost me repeat and loyal business.

My wife and I recently moved out of the home we were renting in Eagle River. She contacted the local Stanley Steemer location and the home we lived in was already on file. My wife specifically confirmed that we would be needing all the carpeted areas cleaned, which included the living room/dining area, 3-bedrooms, and upstairs loft. The gentleman quoting the price repeated all of these areas back to my wife and then quoted the price for all to be cleaned as $318.00. Upon arrival on 5/4/2019, the carpet techs only had 2-bedrooms and the upstairs loft listed in their schedule to clean and proceeded to tell me that it would be an additional $118.00 to clean the other bedroom which was obviously a carpeted area and would also need to be cleaned. On their paperwork, they did not even have the master bedroom listed in house specs and seemed confused as to a 3rd bedroom existing at all.

I specifically explained the situation to the carpet techs, how my wife spoke to the gentleman directly about each area that needed to be cleaned and the price we were quoted. The head carpet tech contacted his supervisor/local franchise owner via telephone, at which time she instructed him to go forward with charging me the unexpected rate increase of $118, which made the final total of cleaning go up from $318 to $436. I asked to speak to this supervisor/owner directly to discuss the situation further and inquire as to any additional options related to honoring the originally quoted price seeing as we have been forthright about the spaces and areas that we needed cleaned from the beginning of the process and it appears the misunderstanding was on Stanley Steemer's end of the transaction.

She refused to budge or negotiate any difference in price and was belligerent and condescending on the telephone call, even after stating she "owned the company", which disturbed me greatly. She even stated that either we pay the new raised price or she would be glad to tell her employees to "pack up their equipment and leave." Is this really how to treat customers who plan to utilize this type of service in the present or future and is this the type of customer care or service that would perpetuate a quality reputation for the overall business of Stanley Steemer in the local Alaskan market? If so, I will NEVER use or recommend this company to ANYONE else, even my worst enemy.

In the end, they decided we did not need carpet restoration, but a few days drying out with dehumidifiers and fans. I scheduled an appointment to have my ceramic tile floors and grout cleaned. Price was quoted in advance based on number of rooms. Upon arrival the tech demonstrates with a brush, some solution, and minimal effort that cleaning the grout will not restore its original color. (FYI, the floor was only two years old.) He said the only way to restore the grout color was basically to recolor the grout with colored sealer --- for twice the price.

I'm very happy with the result, but I'm very unhappy with the way we achieved it. Stanley Steemer's own ads say "Our professional tile and grout cleaning service uses our proprietary hot water extraction cleaning method to clean out the hidden dirt and restore the luster to your floors. In addition, we’ll remove 96.5% allergens from your grout." So, the consumer would expect to get my result with their proprietary cleaning method. Instead, upon arrival essentially the tech said the proprietary cleaning method doesn't work BUT for twice as much money we can make it look clean again. Very, very shady!

I have never been more disappointed with customer service than I was today. We are moving into our new home and decided while it was completely empty to go ahead and have the carpets cleaned. They were not stained, muddy, dirty - but thought it was probably the last time the house would be empty so it should be done.

We were given the time span of 12-5 when I made the appointment. The cleaner shows up at 5pm, clearly exhausted. Said he had been at work by himself since 7am and has been working 60 hour weeks for the past several weeks. He then proceeds to look through the house and say, the dispatcher didn’t charge enough - instead of $290 it’s going to be $460.00. I sucked it up, said fine. He says, "this will take me about 3 hours to do." I thought well this is going to be a long night (as we had already been at the empty house since 11am because they could have arrived as early as noon).

Finally, at 11:45 PM he says he’s done. Took about another 30 minutes getting his stuff packed up. I’m sure our new neighbors loved the loud Stanley Steemer van running outside, for 7 hours, in the late hours. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he told us his stair cleaner was leaking - so there would be a little more water than usual in the seams of the stairs but it would dry. He also had to borrow tape 3 times because the hose kept coming detached from the carpet cleaner he was using on the main floors. He also proceeded to tell us before he left “I probably banged up some of your baseboards” as he shrugged and walked to the van. Our white tile was muddy and all wet from all his equipment. Also the area rug he trampled all over that he said he would clean, didn’t get cleaned.

Here’s where it gets really good! We stayed out and off of the carpet for 48 hours. He said 12-24 hours but we wanted to be safe. Went today to check on the carpet and our basement carpet was still soaking wet. I called and explained what has happened and that we have movers scheduled for Wednesday morning and we needed the carpet to be dried - her response was, “Let me put you on hold and see if we may be able to squeeze you in tonight.” Uh, okay. She gets back on and says, “Yes, between 4 and 5 pm we will get someone there.”

I asked to speak to a manager and was connected to Mark who is the manager for the Warren County - Ohio locations. I explained everything above to him. He was “shocked” and stated he was sorry and that this is not how they do business. He said, “We will get someone out there now, get the extra water suctioned, clean the area rug, and we will go ahead and clean the tile.” I thanked him and waited for the arrival of yet another carpet cleaner. (As if spending 13 hours 2 days before this wasn’t enough). It was after 5 when the cleaner arrived and made a comment about "wow, that’s a lot of tile." He went down and saw the basement carpet and said himself it should not have taken the other cleaner anywhere near that long to clean the carpets nor should the carpet still be so wet.

I then received a call from Mark, the manager, stating he didn’t realize that there was more than one small section of tile and that his guy was not going to do it for free and we could have him clean it, but would need to submit payment. Excuse me? So even though we have dealt with all of this, wasted so much time, you come and fix the issue but don’t feel the need to make it right? After you OFFERED to clean the tile? He then proceeded to tell me that he made it right by finding someone to come to the house the same day I called to soak up all the extra water. Again, excuse me? So he apparently thought he was doing me a favor for me to have to sit around for another 2 hours for them to fix what they messed up. The cleaner himself told me it would have only taken him about an hour to clean the tile.

After this story, I can’t believe the manager had the nerve to think more about the dollar than the customer. It’s unbelievable that this type of service is even acceptable. We had other carpets we were going to have them clean - but we will NEVER be going back to them and will make sure everyone we know doesn’t either!

I contacted the Stanley Steemer in Lexington, KY to come out and clean my $500 8X10 area rug. I was originally quoted $130, which I figured was fine. The two guys showed up on time but they wanted to take the rug with them because I have wood floors, they didn't want to ruin them. I agreed and was then charged $265. I didn't like that price but I needed my rug cleaned before company came over. They took it on a Friday and I was told that I would get it back early on Monday, long before my company would show up.

I waited on Monday and no one came, I finally decided to call customer service at 4 pm and I'm told that they forgot to put it in their system so my rug didn't end up on the truck for delivery that day. I was then told that I could still have it delivered that day or the next day. I told the customer service representative that I needed it that day. So I waited and finally received a phone call from the delivery person's personal cell phone at 6 pm. He said that he was at the shop and was told by his boss that he could deliver it today or I can wait till tomorrow. I told him that I needed it now and he reluctantly agreed.

He finally got it to me at 7 pm, right when my company was coming through the door also. My husband had to help him unload the rug. When my husband rolled it out, it was still covered in dog hair and smelled worse than when I let them take it. I asked for both deodorizing and protection, it didn't seem like they did that at all, it didn't even looked like they cleaned it. I didn't think much of it right then because I had family that was going to stay with me for 2 weeks. Once family left, I got down on my hands and knees with my shop vac to see if I could remove the dog hair myself, something I didn't want to do because my husband and I are both not healthy people. I did a better job than they ever did! That's when I noticed it, cat vomit was STILL in my rug.

I complained to them about it and demanded my money back. I could have spent less money renting a rug doctor, I mean I was already in pain after using the shop vac. They wouldn't give me my money back and wanted to come back out here instead. The supervisor tried acting like I never had them clean my rug by saying that he never saw it. He told me that he would send someone to my house to look over the rug and clean it for free. Fine! As long as it gets done this time. He said that someone would be there at 4 pm the next day, I agreed.

Next morning, someone from Stanley Steemer called and asked if they could come at 1 pm instead and I agreed to that. I waited and waited, no one showed up. I figured they decided to come at 4 pm instead, so I waited. At 5 pm I called customer service and asked them what was going on. They told me that the guy was stuck at a job and it was running over time. The guy finally called me personally at 6 pm and told me that he was going to be late but he'd be there by 7 pm. I wasted a whole day waiting!

The guy came and he was just as confused as I was. He was told three different things by three different people. First, they told him to pick the rug up for cleaning and that I was to be charged for it. Second, they then told him that he was only to come over and look over the rug. Third, he was supposed to pick up the rug for cleaning but I wasn't being charged for it. He wanted me to explain what I was told, so I did. I also told him that when we originally got the rug back from them that it was still covered in dog hair.

He agreed that it was poor practice and couldn't believe they didn't really clean it. He then tells me that they may have to send the rug to Columbus, OH for a better cleaning and I might not get it back for 2 weeks but he wasn't sure. He said a supervisor would call me to confirm. It's been three days and no one has called. I feel like they are going to lose my rug again! I will call on Monday to see what's going on. I'm hoping they don't try to charge me for this and that the rug comes back clean and in the perfect condition it left.

There was no demo of the work they just jumped right in by trying to sell me their mat for the front door that would stop the dirt from coming in, in the first place. Irritant #1. Then they walked around and came up, with a different amount than I Had been quoted but I Argued that...then they tried to sell me the grout sealing for some ridiculous price but I said no and then they said $100 and I agreed. It literally took him 2 minutes to seal the grout in all the areas and I didn't even realize he was doing it till he headed out the door with the device they roll it on with..

He hurried out of the master bath area mumbling something about the grout. After it dried I guess he was saying that he ruined it because when it was dry it looked spotty and discolored. The final part was trying to sell me their cleaner which I bought begrudgingly and is no different than any unscented cleaner. Honestly at that point I want to say that I was aggravated and uncomfortable in my own home having to argue and bicker with these men. Final cost including the $22 cleaner was a little over $400!! Thought it was going to be $200! Never ever again! The grout is not sealed and looks just as bad after I clean...waste of money and aggravation!

Scheduled Stanley Steemer to come clean grout and color seal the grout. When tech looked at job he said that I would need two coats. I said I didn’t think so but took his professional option. I was told when booking the service that they would do a demo which was told to me the technician said they don’t do that. I went back and forth with him about all the pricing so he said he would give me 10% off which still was not near the quote I got from the representative on the phone.

I was very hesitant to have the work done but I said to do the work and I would deal with the company after. I questioned the tech several times about the process he was doing. He said that was the way it was done. The tech did not have the right tools. He asked me for a toothbrush to put the color sealer down. I thought that was weird. After putting the color sealer down he said they were done, I said, "You said I needed 2 coats." He informed he did. I was home and watching the whole time and I never saw him do a second coat.

To finish up which I could go on and on. I called the company and told my concerns to a manager who was very professional and concerned for my complaint. It took a week but I did get a little compensation back. I would be very carefully when scheduling them. Get a quote in writing and emailed to you and if you are overcharged from tech call company before you agree to the work. I hope for the money the grout stays clean for a long time.

I booked Stanley Steemer to come and clean carpets in a condo on behalf of a client. Their online booking system required that I fill in what floor the unit was on, and whether there was an elevator. I advised that it was on the third floor and there was no elevator. At 8am, I got a text saying that they were on their way. They failed to mention that they were on their way from quite far north, during rush hour traffic. After waiting an hour, they showed up and asked to see the job. They then proceeded to tell me that they weren't "allowed" to carry the equipment up that many flights of stairs. They conferred with their supervisor who agreed, and could offer no explanation to me as to why this job would not have been refused upfront based on my input.

Between getting to and from the condo, waiting for an hour, and then dealing with their refusal, I wasted 2 hours of valuable time - not to mention the fact that I now have to go back on Tuesday to meet another company who is quite happy to do the job. And yes, Triple S is well aware of the location of the unit and has cleaned there before. I have referred Stanley Steemer to clients many times. Never again.

When I got down on my knees with rag I found a lot of dirt wiped up with no scrubbing. Job started to look good. They were in a hurry to get done and move on to the next job. Company seems to go by is it good enough rather than a job done is a job that is well done. They offered to take off bathroom cleaning but I wasn't going to stiff them. I just wanted results I could be happy with. I paid full amount but would not use again.

I realize there are many Stanley Steemer franchise operations. This is our experience with a main Stanley Steemer located in Dunbar, West Virginia, and I believe they also operate several others nearby. Dunbar is small bedroom community outside Charleston so not much competition for any service type suppliers. Called this Dunbar Stanley Steemer about 3 years ago to clean wall to wall carpets in 4 rooms for my 97 year old mom who lives alone. No, she does not want to move and is still very independent so we try to manage from Virginia and visit as often as possible.

Anyway they did a very poor job and carpets were so spongy with water. They did not vacuum up. Your shoes would get soaked just walking across, so we called them back and they finally got the rugs more dry but not perfect. However, I decided to give them another chance and called them last week to do same rugs again hoping things would go better this time. They promised to arrive at 1 pm the next day, but no show by 2, then no show by 3, then they called at 4 saying they are on way. Then no show by 5, then an elderly guy and young kid finally arrived around 6 pm, worked less than 2 hours for 4 rooms so mom paid them and they left. I’m 5 hour drive away so can’t be there for everything.

Called mom next day and she said carpets were fairly dry this time but looked terrible with dark and light splotches all over, and carpet nap running in all directions. This time I did not call them back as I learned my lesson but ate the $204 charge. I then called an independent carpet cleaner caked Extreme Carpet Cleaning in Nitro, West Virginia who uses the same type truck mounted equipment that Stanley Steemer uses. This second company did a great job and was very professional.

Here is side by side comparison: Stanley Steemer arrived 5 hours late, Extreme Carpet Cleaning arrived on time. The two Stanley Steemer guys were dressed in unmatched work clothes, the two guys from Extreme Carpet Cleaning wore matching company log clothing. The older Stanley Steemer guy just stood and watched the younger guy. The older Extreme Carpet Cleaning guy fed most of cleaning while younger guy was constantly helping, moving hoses, moving furniture, and moving around fans.

The Stanley Steemer guys did not bring any fans, while the Extreme Carpet Cleaning guys brought multiple drying fans with them to speed up drying process. Stanley Steemer charged $204, worked less than 2 hours, and did a poor job. Extreme Carpet Cleaning charged $165, worked 3 hours, and did a great job. I tried to report our poor experience with this local franchise to corporate Stanley Steemer, but all I found are multiple links to boards like this full of customer complaints against Stanley Steemer. Buyer beware!

Did you know this arm is messed up?" Um, no, it wasn't. Then tried to offer me a lower price on the cleaning. I told him I didn't feel I should have to pay anything since he ruined an $800 piece of furniture. They agreed to that but nothing else. Corporate called the next day to ask if I was satisfied. When I explained what happened I was told there was nothing they could do. Then why did you call? Probably to try to sell more services. The entire time they were here they kept trying to upsell me on a deodorizer for an extra $80. Save yourself the headache and just rent a professional machine and spray some Febreze.

On the day of the cleaning, only my husband was home. He was charged $270.00 (the original hallway I wanted cleaned plus the room I was told on the phone would be included plus an additional room that they told my husband would be free of charge). They also charged for an area rug that I had not asked to be cleaned. When my husband pointed out that didn't seem to be what was quoted (but my husband didn't actually know the exact quote since I was the one that initially called for the service) they took $50.00 magically off the bill.

I called Stanley Steemer the next day and a "manager" said he would check the recording of the initial phone call and get back to me. Of course he never did. I then called again and spoke to someone else and told the whole story again. That person was not concerned to say the least. This seems like the classic bait and switch operation, and I would be very wary and make sure the price is what is quoted (or at least close to it!) before signing the receipt after the cleaning. Terrible customer service.

Especially if you don’t know what the current seal is. So I called Stanley Steemer and the new owner said will can give you a new estimate on polishing the tile. Stanley Steemer of South Florida came to our home to “clean” the carpets. Apparently, we were the first customers that received service that day, as the crew came from Port St. Lucie. When the service technicians left the carpets were very wet; our socks were soaking wet. The crew consisted of Jerard **, and Alejandro **. Supposedly, Jerard was a water remediation specialist. Although we called the Stanley Steemer office to complain about the wet carpets (still wet 6 hours later) , we were told a crew would not be able to come back that day. Sadly, because of the water that collected on the window seat in our bedroom, our cat Em me, ruptured her bladder as she slipped and fell off the window seat.

Em had over $8,000 in surgeries and follow-up care, but because Em was a feline and not a human, Mike ** (PSL Stanley Steemer franchise owner/operator, **) did not feel his company was responsible and was unwilling to take ownership for Em me's medical care. Eventually, after a few phone calls, Mike ** came to our home to inspect our carpets. Mike admitted the carpet had several areas where Stanley Steemer applied cleaning concentrates that oxidized because they remained wet for too long a period and now they are permanently set. Mike said he would be willing, at no charge, to send a crew to the house whereby he would personally supervise the cleaning and emphasized he would get the carpets and stairs clean and really dry.

We decided to sue Stanley Steemer of South Florida for the costs of the damaged carpet and the veterinary bills, and their insurance company said they would settle the matter for $2,500. I even wrote a letter to the CEO of Stanley Steemer, Wesley C. Bates and he never responded; it appears he is not concerned about the reputation of his father's company.

Eventually, we dropped the suit as it was emotionally draining for myself and my wife; not to mention Stanley Steemer’s attorneys threatened to file sanctions against our attorney and ourselves. My advice is stay away from this company and remember you get what you pay for. Stanley Steemer is not the same company that my grandmother used to swear by, God rest her soul. I hope this will help prevent headaches and heartache for anyone considering Stanley Steemer of South Florida. It is a shame that a company can come into your home with complete disregard for your property and loved ones without any remorse or consequences for their actions.

They're suppose to be the professionals taking folk's money, "I expect better and if you can't speak to me better then you need to leave" - he left. - Now I need to have my home fumigated to remove the stank his attitude left in my home in addition to having my carpet cleaned. The girl on the phone said she would schedule someone to come out and give me an estimate and scheduled for the same day as the carpets. So then I panicked and he said you should have the ducts done first due to dust, which makes sense.

So then I asked him for a quote on the duct cleaning and he did not ask how many registers I had, he only looked in my basement and gave me a range of $600-700. They set me up for the next day. They arrived on time and was very quick with services, but the quality of cleaning was terrible. Tile looks great, but the grout is only slightly better than before. I showed the gentleman my test area that I cleaned by hand, and the difference in the grout that they have just cleaned, no comparison. He told me that they used the strongest cleaner that they have and that was the best they could do. I could have done better by hand, if I would have only had the time, which now I must take the time and clean by hand since I have all the furniture moved.

The tile next to the cabinets and walls did not even get touched and they still look exactly like they were before, dirty. For a professional cleaning, it is not up to standards. I think Stanley Steemer should stick to what they do best and that is carpets. It was really a waste of money to have Stanley Steemer clean my grout, which I will never do again and will not recommend to any friends or neighbors. Not a Satisfied Customer.

Stanley Steemer came and "cleaned" my wool carpets. They told me that it was too old (15 years) to do any good. Very little to help me. Dirty spots were left, which I consequently cleaned myself by hand - finding so much dirt left on the carpets by SS! My advice to you is: don't let these guys in your house.

We had our vents cleaned and we're pleased with the work, especially after showing us what they sucked out! However, they didn't move any furniture back, left some dirt and metal shavings, but more importantly broke some ceiling tiles and the wire holding the ceiling up. I wrote to them online and received no response. Very disappointed and will not recommend.

I had my air ducts cleaned by Stanley Steemer and after they were done and gone I noticed that they never replaced or even checked my air filter!!! My filter was so plugged up and in really bad shape that air would barely flow thru it!! Thank God I was home and caught it, instead of my wife being home by herself. It was 90* out and my system was freezing up! How do you do a total air system cleaning and not change the filter!!?? I called them the next day and their story was different with every person that I talked to! I requested a manager come out and he did, but he just gave me an excuse that they don’t want you change your filter for at least 3 days after they have been there! I had an estimate 2 days prior to having the work done and in it, it says they will be replacing the air filter in the cost. It wasn’t done!!

I recently had Stanley Steemer come and clean my vents. After they left I noticed white particles on my furniture every time the blowers were going. I called them to have them come out and fix the problem. They came out and redid my vents and assured me that there would be no problem again. That evening the white particles were back. I am very angry that I never had this problem until you came to clean my vents. Breathing these particles was causing me to be sick. Since the problem wasn’t taken care of I had to call another company. I was shown pictures of what was left in my vents (clearly you did nothing) and after he cleaned them properly, how they looked. I feel that Stanley Steemer took my money and did not do the job. I am very, very unhappy. I feel I should receive a partial refund for the job NOT done!

Our insurance company, Liberty Mutual called Stanley Steemer when we had a leak in our kitchen to do the Water Remediation. The first day, Stanley Steemer sent out the manager and three very big, strapping young men (big men that looked like they worked out) and they spent an hour walking around our home taking pictures with their tablets?! (Why did the manager bring three big men with him just to take pictures?) The leak was from our dishwasher, which I had to point out to the manager AND give him pictures of it leaking, before he had me start the dishwasher to make it leak all over AGAIN just to prove it to him! The manager told me he would return the next day, no time given, to perform the task of removing the cabinets, countertop, dishwasher, sink, etc. to access the flooring to address the leak.

When the Stanley Steemer personnel arrived the next day, we were very surprised to see the manager accompanied not by the three tall, strong men that he had from the day before, but with only two very young men who were half the size of the previous men. Let me make this known: these younger men were very courteous, polite, and well mannered. I hold no ill-will toward these gentlemen.

The manager and the men dismantled our kitchen, (base cabinets involving the sink, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and the all-in-one piece countertop). During the demo process, the countertop and sink were removed and placed in the dining room, and the water-damaged cabinet and garbage disposal were left in our rock garden outside our house. Three other cabinets and the dishwasher were displaced from their original locations presumably for the manager to look for other water damage.

Once the demo was finished, the manager left leaving his crew behind and no further communication. We actually didn't know he left. While reviewing the demo results, we noticed our stainless steel refrigerator door was dented in several places and our garbage disposal was still left outside. We called the manager expressing our concerns about the damage and about when and who would put the kitchen back together, because at this point we didn't have surfaces for meal prep or a sink to work with. The manager requested pictures of the damaged refrigerator door several times upon his request. He said the company would replace the refrigerator door and HE would install it for us, but we asked for a licensed technician to install the door instead. We were concerned about Stanley Steemer replacing the door when they don’t employ appliance repair technicians.

We made several attempts to talk to the manager over the course of two months since mid-April regarding not only the refrigerator door and garbage disposal, but the condition of our kitchen, during which time our garbage disposal weathered the elements until the manager finally picked up the device to inspect it himself on May 29, 2018.

It is now June 19, 2018 and the manager calls to tell us he has our refrigerator door replacement and our garbage disposal was cleaned up. He did not intend to have a technician install the door, nor did he have arrangements made to put the kitchen back together. The manager told us since we had so many specifications about our refrigerator, he thought we had someone to install the door for us and went back on his word. The manager at Stanley Steemer said we were trying to get something for nothing, and hung up on us.

We then tried to reach out to the branch manager of the New Castle, Delaware branch, which is the manager’s home location. We left a detailed account with a customer service representative and our contact information. We have not heard back from the branch manager yet. We are writing this review as a testimonial so others do not find themselves in the same peril that we find ourselves in. If your insurance company says they are sending over Stanley Steemer, STOP THEM!!! And immediately request someone else! Thank you for reading this review.

I would be the contact due to hearing loss issues and gave them my email. The confirmation email had our agreed upon price $213.00. When Stanley Steamer staff called my cell to say they would be there in a few minutes.

I called my Father-In-Law to let him know what to expect from this company. When he called me that night after the carpets were done he was very upset. Said it was more than he expected. It was doubled to the tune of $517.00 Apparently the staff told him he should really get this extra services that he didn’t need nor did he understand. It was per room for each service. He said they never explained it was per room and when he asked for a copy of the bill they couldn’t provide that for him but instead had him sign a black box. (He had no idea what that was.) They completely set him up, encouraged him that it would really be better to do these extra services etc...

They took advantaged of a grieving widow and WWll Vet. Somebody that didn’t feel comfortable saying no to the services being offered. It makes me so sad that they saw an easy victim and took full advantage of him and convinced him he needed these additional services all to make money! Do not use this company unless you want to pay double what the initial quote is that you receive. Protect our Seniors. Avoid this company. I called for two days and got no satisfaction from any Managers and am still waiting for a call from their Claims Manager to resolve this issue. Buyer beware...

Upon completing the assessment, I asked him to send a copy of the assessment and price to my email address so I could review it, because it was on a tablet and I could not review it. He sent me a blank sheet of paper with the Stanley Steemer truck, my name address etc, but nothing with the cost, nothing describing what I would be paying for. He quoted me a cost, of $800+.

Without seeing what I am paying for and a contract, I refuse to let anyone start a job in my house. He promised verbally and by text he would send me a copy of the cost and work to be completed, however he was dishonest. He never sent me an estimate. Today (the next day) I called the company and was told they don't give anything in writing until the work is completed. Well, I would not use a company that wants you to trust them blindly. They could turn around and say we didn't include that, we didn't say that etc. then it's your word against their word. If a company refuse to give you the scope of work in writing beware. Move to another company. Also, when the employee is dishonest from the beginning, move to another company. I know he was not happy because I didn't let him began the work immediately, but I am not going to let him or anyone I don't know perform work in my home without seeing it in writing. Not to mention that the carpeting is soaking wet. I had to take my shampooer and suction out 4 cups of dirty water. I could of gotten much more water out - but It's tedious. There were areas that were not cleaned, especially baseboards and around corners and behind doors. You could still see the outlines of dirt where furniture had been moved. After it dried, the dirt from foot traffic reappeared. I used Resolve to finish where they left off. There is no such thing as getting a bargain. You get what you pay for. I have to say that while the technicians were polite the actual service itself to clean my carpets was in my opinion total waste of money. I couldn’t believe when he called me upstairs to look at the finished carpets and I thought he was joking, it didn’t even look like they even started to clean it. I had to show him the pet hair that saturated all over the carpets. It was simply just kicked up wet pet hair on top of wet carpets. I certainly could’ve sprayed a cleaning solution on my rugs and mediocre vacuumed... And save myself the money.

And since then no male humans that live in my house, to walk up upstairs to the master bathroom and see the toilet seat up I am beyond furious. That means that someone of the two technicians used my bathroom. And that is totally unacceptable. The whole point of having rugs cleaned is to have them deep cleaned, and get below the surface that a regular vacuum couldn’t do; just didn’t happen. I actually went out and bought a new vacuum right after they left and vacuumed myself in the dirt & pet hair this vacuum pulled up is totally unacceptable. I will never use Stanley Steemer again.

Really wish I had read the reviews before contacting Stanley Steemer to clean our carpets. We have a small carpeted living room and two small carpeted bedrooms. They charged us $123.00 for those rooms and 3 runners. The men who came were very friendly and courteous, but I didn't like the idea that the one immediately tried to 'sell' tile and grout cleaning. The cleaning job was done in less than 30 minutes, and one asked "how does it look"? How can you tell when it is wet and we can't walk on it. Ceiling fans were on in all three rooms and we added an additional fan to the living room.

We left and were gone for five hours, and then put on clean slipper socks to walk in the rooms. The dirty 'paths' in all three rooms looked no better than they did before! My 82 year old husband went down on his hands and knees this morning with Resolve to try to clean the 'path' in the living room, and it looks a whole lot better now than it did after Stanley Steemer finished! WOW! Extremely disappointed!!! Two guys from Stanley Steemer in Louisville, Kentucky, came out to clean my carpet. First, they acted as if they didn't want to clean my carpet because I was on the THIRD floor. They had to wait for another guy to come out to bring some tape for their hose, so they could run it from the THIRD floor balcony to their truck. Second, As I was going out of the door to go to my truck to run an errand, so I wouldn't be in their way while they were cleaning, I sat in my truck for 5 minutes and noticed one of the guys putting the cleaning hose back in his truck. As I sat there in my truck for 10 more minutes, I received a call on my cell phone stating they were FINISHED!!! I was shocked and surprised. He then ask me for my form of payment. When I walked in my door I said "That was quick!" And the representative stated "Yeah, we have some pretty good solution."

However, I paid him the fee, and after looking at my carpet, there is no way they could have cleaned, deodorized, and put a protective coating on my carpet in 15 minutes, that is what I PAID for to have done...There is no way!!! They didn't even tell me how long it would take to dry, and they didn't even leave the blue nets you put on your shoes to keep dirt off your carpet while the carpet is drying.

This was a POOR, RUSHED, UNPROFESSIONAL and DEPLORABLE job!!! I am extremely disappointed, and I NEVER want them out to my place again. I should have rented a machine from Kroger and cleaned the carpet myself. When a guy came out from this company last year, he did a wonderful job, and it took him over TWO hours to clean my carpet. He explained to me the drying time, what I should and should not do while the carpet is drying, and he left the blue nets to put over your shoes to keep dirt off carpet while it is drying. Stanley Steemer should be ashamed, and the TWO employees that came out should be fired! Their work was horrific. I don't know if they had another job lined up, but they sure wasn't concerned about cleaning my carpet. I will NEVER use them again. I learned a good lesson today!!!

Save yourself some trouble- Remember- when you let Stanley Steemer in your house, apartment, office- you have NO IDEA WHO you are letting in your house. BE CAREFUL!!--- Or do yourself a favor and check out some other local, consistent service, or months later you’re like us- out thousands of dollars and tons of time. Ever think what happens if you run into a problem with a company-THIS company? Remember-it just takes one time, the wrong workers and your lives are turned upside down! Here's a hint. If you DO run into a problem with Stanley Steemer they will divert you to a company, CorVel Corporation which states as a mission statement "healthcare management services"... As bizarre as that sounds that's right. What THAT has to do with settling claims against Stanley Steemer is anybody's guess. They will ignore you and figure you will just go away and eventually just drop you.

After several years of terrific service by this location (happy customers), we hired them for carpet-cleaning November 21, 2017. We discovered after they left that one of the workers had deposited debris (sand, sediment and carpet-fibers) in a mini-basement sink. We didn’t realize this until after they left. On Thanksgiving Day, we spent HOURS sopping up water and debris from the basement carpet and a wool rug. We called their Emergency # and explained the disaster. They DID come out (at their expense) and cleaned the carpet and rug. They left heaters and dehumidifiers for a week to try to fix the situation and soak up inches of water. We could not use our kitchen sink, washer, dryer or dishwasher during this time. That sink clogged the main drain of the house.

We had to hire a plumber (not easily available at Thanksgiving), who told us to get to the main drain pipe of the house to unclog. We had to hire a carpenter to tear out the wood-panel behind the sink. The plumber snaked 25 feet of pipe and concluded what we already knew, by sight the clog was due to sand, sediment and carpet fibers. He cleared the pipe. All of this would NOT have been necessary - a complete royal disaster - had it not been for the actions of the SS worker. We shook our heads all during this disaster in complete and total disbelief. How anyone could be so stupid... didn't ask permission to use the sink when viable alternatives were available and didn't say a word to us about it.

The credit card company (after affidavit and due diligence) credited back to us that charge but in the meantime we are stuck with thousands of dollars in bills for a plumber, carpenter, extra electricity for their high-energy gear running 7 x 24 for a week and also painter to paint the panel that had to be sawed to attempt to get to the main drain and walls from the water stains. The SS Braintree office dumped us onto another company Corvel and did not return calls, emails, etc. We placed a complaint with the MA Better Business Bureau which was transferred to the BBB of Ohio. That BBB office has not received a response from SS. We placed a complaint with the MA State Attorney General office and THEY have not had a response, either and we may have to sue them. DON'T WALK-RUN FROM DOING BUSINESS WITH STANLEY STEEMER!!!

He said he could not get a small stain out that was on the back of the pillow because he said it would rust the springs if he used water. After I challenged his logic he took a little water and wiped it and the stain came out. After he was finished as I inspected his work. I noticed something white sticking out the back of the couch and asked him what it was. He replied it was material to the couch, after I challenged that he looked again and it was a dirty sock which proves he did not do a thorough job.

To add insult to injury he pulled the dirty sock out and sarcastically asked me did I want the sock. Before he got started on the job I explained that I purchased the Sofa second hand at a thrift shop so why would I want a dirty sock that did not belong to me? I immediately contacted the manager of the Company and reported my dissatisfaction. The couch was dry to touch in some spots and he said he couldn't add too much water or the couch could be damaged. I was charged $218.00 which included Scotchgard and I was very disappointed with the work and the attitude. Another service they provided was cleaning my carpet. I had 3 black stains they could not get out the carpet. I took some Dawn dish soap and a little elbow and the spots came out. I will not be using their services again. One week later I still had not heard from them. I called and was told they would come the next day to repair and no one showed or called me. I called again a week later and again was told they would come the next day. Still no show. Called again and reported it to the Headquarters customer service and received no callback. Called again and they took all my information again and said I would receive an email and a phone call and still have not heard anything.

I previously used Stanley Steemer earlier this year to clean my carpet so I created an account with a detailed profile (where I live, parking, floor, etc.). I was quite satisfied with the first job so I arranged for another carpet cleaning on the Saturday before Thanksgiving because I was hosting family from out of town this year. I signed into the website and scheduled the appointment and was given a 2:00-6:00pm timeframe on the day I requested. The techs didn't show up until 5:00pm without the correct equipment and after much back and forth, they were unable to clean my carpet then had the NERVE to say I didn't tell them that I lived on the 5th floor so they'd need a portable. Can someone please explain to me the purpose of creating a profile with all of that information and signing in to schedule a cleaning where all of that detailed information is linked to your profile if Stanley Steemer doesn't use it???

So I was left with the tech telling me they couldn't complete (sorry not even start) the job and they were booked but could schedule a cleaning for Wednesday before Thanksgiving. That was not helpful to me at all as I had company arriving on Monday. I know things happen but what really soured me on the entire experience is no one from Customer Service followed up apologizing for their error and to personally schedule another time. Instead, I received a form email saying, “Sorry you had to cancel” (which I did not) and offering some percentage off if I rescheduled. Needless to say, I did not reschedule nor do I intend to use them for future cleanings, I've already gone with another company. There is no excuse for poor customer service at any time!

My carpets did not look any better after they were finished, all the spots were still there. I called the company to complain and the woman was very rude and would not listen, told her I wanted to talk to a manager, to this day nobody has ever called me back. I will never use Stanley Steemer again, they are dishonest rude people that con you into overpaying. Do yourself a favor and call another reputable company.

Manager said it would be up to service person. Kid (who stunk up the room he was in) although I didn't mention this to him; didn't want to do it, he wanted to sell me more furniture cleaning! Considering the cleaning results from past experiences and the costs involved I didn't want to buy yet another package for couch cleaning. I called and talked to manager who was home sick! He too wanted me to buy yet another package for cleaning. It is clear the customer isn't the important factor in this business, it is the sell of packages for cleaning! The duct cleaning charge was double what I was told and I paid it. Their credit card machine did not accept my card. They called they second day and I gave them the same card, which went through easily. They actually had quoted me $409 but since they did two furnaces I corrected them and paid them double... I am an honest person.

I had originally scheduled them to come out a second time, since they missed the first one but the assistant manager refused to come back as promised. While I understand any company can refuse service, their incompetence when parking and getting not one but two tickets at a spot I specifically told them not to park after 4 pm is not my fault, and neither is having to wait for an appointment that never came. I had used them before but sadly, they burned their bridges with me. The manager offered to discount $150 from future duct work but no thanks. I will find a company that says what they mean and means what they say. Very disappointing.

Had Stanley Steemer come out to clean my carpets and stairway, am very dissatisfied. The area between the carpet and wall in the stairway remained dirty & untouched, and I was told that I should take a small brush and scrub all the stairway edges, as the dirt/staining was due to poor air conditioning circulation and those edges needed special handling. I pointed out that my air conditioning unit was brand new and it couldn't possibly be causing dirt to accumulate on stairway edges, that it was simply wear & tear dirt.

All of the rugs in bedrooms & stairway dried with a strange striped design and I had to call Customer Service to have them come out again to redo. A second cleaning did not resolve the problem and the reason I was given was that my carpet was builder's grade carpet. The crew was more interested in selling additional services (Scotch Guard, deodorizing) than they were in cleaning my carpet properly and professionally. I will never use Stanley Steemer again.

This time they had the rug for 3 weeks and when it came back it had these odd brown stains all over it. The delivery guys called their manager and the manager said, "Bring it back and we'll fix it." I let them know that I had house guests the following weekend and absolutely needed the rug back by Friday. They said no problem. Called on Wednesday to double check and was told yes the rug will be there Friday.

Took the morning off work to get this taken care of and my living room put back together before my house guests arrive. It's Friday morning and Stanley Steemer just called to tell me that there was no way my rug would be ready and that I was misinformed by customer service that my rug would be ready by today. I reminded them that last weekend the plant manager also said the rug would be ready today as they were the ones who gave me back my rug with all new stains all over it. He said, "Well he was wrong too." So after 4 weeks I still don't have my rug back. I still don't know when I'll have it by. And I don't know if the stains they put in it will be removed or if the rug was just ruined.

To the contrary, the rugs had spots, dirt and other unidentifiable matter rolling off several rugs as I pulled them out of the bag. I immediately broke out in tears as I asked the deliverymen what was going on. They were speechless and as surprised as I was. They immediately called their office to report the disbelief of what we were seeing. The girl on the phone was polite and said a manager would contact me first thing Monday morning. He did not, and it took several calls to eventually reach him. He asked if he could come see the rugs later in the week but I insisted it must be today since the smell and unknown debris was causing my asthma to be triggered.

He showed later in the day and agreed with the shock of the horrible work we were looking at. He took several pictures and I let it be known that I no longer trust their work and will pay another company to clean my rugs professionally as I thought would have be done initially. I requested my $651.00 be returned and he stated his manager would never agree to that. He called me the following day to offer a "different employee" be allowed to clean the rugs correctly. Stanley Steamer does not stand by their work or customer satisfaction. I am out $651.00 and may be renting a cleaner and doing the rugs myself. The day after we wanted to take pictures of the kids in the yard and we could not find the camera. Next day after cleaning I was on the floor with Resolve Carpet Cleaner, removing a few stains the Stanley man did not even get up! The crew did not vacuum first but went right into cleaning. Very few pieces of furniture needed moving, which we discussed. But I did not mention the stack pillows and floor vase in the entry to the living room. I should not have assumed these pillows would be moved, but it would seem like common sense to move them and to clean beside them. At the very least the technician should have asked me what to do about moving the pillows since we did not discuss that side of the room.

Now there is a line of demarcation where he cleaned just to the right of the pillows and not on the other side. This area is right in the entry way and looks ridiculous. Also the crew used our toilet for water drainage but failed to even flush the toilet when they left. They did not reconnect the hose on the front porch which they had disconnected. Very very disappointed with the appearance of the carpet, one day after cleaning. Also there was a new stain in the bedroom which was not there previous to their arrival. Again, I got it up with Resolve Carpet Cleaner, but very unhappy about this. Will Never use Stanley Steemer again.

I scheduled a service for 6/30. Scheduling was great, didn’t ask me as many questions as I would have thought but it was simple. I received my price and while higher than other companies I went with them based on name. A week later I called back to see if I could switch the date but no one answered so I left a voicemail asking for someone to contact me regarding the availability for the different date. I never hear anything so I assume they never got it and that business would conduct on the mutually agreed upon date. Thankfully they sent an email beforehand but apparently they had changed the date without confirming. Fine, no big deal. I call to make sure my sister can be there to let them in since I can’t. I am assured that it's no problem and they don't even need to be there. THIS WAS MY BIGGEST MISTAKE.

My sister asks before she leaves for them to use soap, they tell her that they don’t do that unless they deodorize so she tells them to do that. As she’s leaving they give her a price 100$ higher than what I was quoted. I call the company inquiring and they explain that cleaning the carpets without it is like cleaning the cabinets with water vs with Clorox so they are charging extra to disinfect. At this point I was annoyed because I thought that carpet cleaning per their website included removing bacteria but I go with it. I have a 4 floor condo with carpet in horrible condition, hence the need for cleaning. They were there, including set up, 45 minutes. My sister observed them doing the floors, i.e. briefly vacuuming the areas. They tell her that it’s hard to see a difference until the floor is dry.

As they are leaving, they can’t turn off the valve to the house. They decide since water is gushing out to simply turn off the water to the house and leave without saying anything. They make it sound like they simply couldn’t turn the knob and to wait for the boyfriend to get home. None of which they communicated to me, the person that hired them. Finally, boyfriend gets home and calls to tell me that the spicket is broken and not simply just not shutting off. I call the company upset and the Customer Service informs me that no manager is available and that someone will contact me at an undisclosed time. Heated discussion and they hang up. I call back 9 times, I have call logs if anyone is interested, and each time they pick up, breath and hang-up.

Thus far in my interaction with Stanley Steemer they have: failed to communicate the right date, barely touched my flooring despite charging me almost 400$, were rude and now I am being hung up on. At this point I am at the house, the floors look like nothing had been done except vacuumed in odd patterns. You can see where they ignored the edges (what I am later told this is normal since they aren’t usually walked on), they charged extra for the stairs and only did the middle (I am later assured that I must be miss-seeing this because of a walking pattern utilized by the guys), the stairs were not even remotely lightened nor did it smell any better despite the 100$ extra charge (I was told I must not understand what clean is).

Finally, a supervisor calls me and condescendingly tells me that the floors are clean and that how does he know that the spicket was broken due to them and wouldn’t have broken while I was using it... good question Pete. I’m not sure of that answer, I just know that it didn’t break while I was using it but while I was paying your company for a service. I sent him pictures and he says from pictures he can’t get a good idea of the job done. What?! I have never been spoken to so condescendingly in my life. He brought up that he's done service for my mother, I still have no idea why he mentioned this. He tried saying that I must not understand clean. He tried explaining it could be bad carpet. He tried a million different ways around the fact that his company did a HORRIBLE job and broke my spicket.

I ask him, as a cleaning company, what is your definition of clean? This apparently was too hard a question for him as he repeatedly said he didn't understand the question. Finally, after arguing about what the definition of cleaning a carpet was he offered to send out a plumber and to resend out a team despite concerns that it wouldn’t do any good since they did it to the best of their ability the first time. I tell Pete that I am putting a stop on my check until both the work and the spicket issues are resolved. He made me feel like I was crazy for doing this. Saying something like, "you have made this very clear and I wouldn't expect any less from you." Emphasizing the from you part, like this was a normal occurrence I should pay for.

I am 28 years old, I am not a child but he definitely made me feel as such. I then have my Grandma call him as I am now upset and offended at how I am being spoken down to. She schedules for them to come out. SURPRISE SURPRISE Pete starts defending their work to her too, never not once has there been any apology for inconvenience, poor work, broken house or being hung up on. She agrees to come out and oversee the work. They were there almost twice the time they were the first time and while not perfect (not my goal) the carpet looked cleaner!!! The flooring while still not smelling what I would expect 100$ worth of deodorizer to smell like, smelled better!!! I’m not sure if it's common practice for them to do a half job when not supervised but I would hope that they would do they work they are paid for especially when called to confirm it is ok for them to be left alone to do the work.

As for the spicket, their plumber wanted to cut a hole in the ceiling to see the water pipe so we declined them doing the work. I had a second opinion and as it turns out an internal mechanism went was broken and a new screw and stopper was put on. (I’m not a plumber, I have no idea the technicalities). Overall not worth spending double to get half the work done twice. Horrible service, horrible workmanship, horrible anything. I will never utilize them again. I have made sure my Mother knows as well, thank you Pete for pointing out to me that she's used you for thousands of dollars worth of treatments. I would have never thought to make sure she sends that business somewhere else. I have images however I cant figure out how to add them, sorry.

Before they started the man with the tablet who did nothing but stand there said "Oh that little area by your kitchen that's a part of your living room is considered another room so it's an extra $29!" Whattt? I have pictures of how small that area is that fits a tiny 2 person table and a dog bowl and how it's literally attached and goes with his living room area. It's NOT an extra room!

I also have pictures of their UNDER 45 minute work of their super fast steam work that's supposedly suppose to take out "95%" of stains! The guy who held the tablet told me it's the best it will get and that he has ** carpets and needs to tell the landlord! Who says that? Doesn't matter how ** the carpets are, you work for a business who claims they can get 95% of stains out the carpets. Well let me tell you, my boyfriend has rented Rug Doctors and used super cheap shampoos and it may take HOURS to do with ones of those, but he does it once a month and gets the stains out WAYYY better!

I took pictures of their HORRIBLE $128 job and sent them to my boyfriend while he was at work. He called and complained and the lady said she was going to send them back out and that they were done super quick and that's not right. They come back and the same rude guy with the tablet just decided to say "I told you this was the best it's going to look with this crap carpet." I said "Well my boyfriend wasn't happy with the pictures I sent him after you left. You guys made it look worse than it did and it wasn't worth the $128 & the lady he spoke with said y'all were down super quick!" He then proceeded to give me a look and argue with me saying he just spoke with the owner and he was here a good hour. I was here the entire time. It was NOT an hour and they rushed!

He stops arguing as soon as my boyfriend walks in and my boyfriend even said "I have done WAY better myself with a Rug Doctor. What did I pay $128 for?" The guy says "Well, you also use shampoo in those and that's why and we sprayed our best stuff before and even doing it over again isn't going to do anything different." I'm sorry you're a professional overly expensive carpet cleaning business and you're telling me that Rug Doctors do a better job because of the shampoo? So they're better than your steamers and the stuff you spray? Then why in the hell does this business exist if a shampooer is better and does better than what they can do??? Makes NO SENSE!!!

So they go over the carpets again, super fast in the bedroom again and then when he went out to living room where the guy with the tablet and my boyfriend were he then decided to go real slow taking his time like we didn't see him or notice he did the bedroom super quick and with fast motions! Well well well, looky there, going over it again even in the ** way it was done did clean a little better even though they said it wouldn't and I still have horrible pictures of the finished product of their god awful shamefully absolutely horrible work and what $128 pays for in a small apartment/duplex!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND NEVER WILL!!! HORRIBLE!! DESPICABLE!! AWFUL!!

On 5 may 2017 Stanley Steemer, Fredericksburg, VA came to our home to clean the carpet. They did a horrible job. When they pretreated the carpet they sprayed the furniture, not just the bottom but all over. The carpet still has stains. They did not put our hose away when they finished the work. I was left laying out all over the yard. They left cigarette butts on the driveway. They broke a lamp. When my husband pointed out the lamp was broken the man suddenly could not speak English. They also did not clean around the baseboards.

When I called the customer service number they put me through to the local office. Laura ** the manager came on the phone. She had a bad attitude. Her men don't smoke, they don't move furniture, the area around the baseboards are always discolored. She said she would look into it and call me Back. She did not. When I called her back she said her men told her they did not break the lamp, and they don't smoke. She was rude and implied that I was a liar. My lamps are no longer for sale. She did not want to replace the matching lamps. She would see if they could fix my lamp. Laura was rude, had a bad attitude and the customer is always wrong. NEVER AGAIN!

Water extraction - On February 28 2017, we had a terrible rainfall here in Chicago Illinois, it was to the point where my sump pump could not keep up with the amount of rain and the frozen ground, not taking in any water. On March 1st we called in our local Stanley Steemer, they gladly showed up with a water team. I was very surprised and happy that they seemed to understand my current situation. They showed up on my doorstep with a team of water extraction experts.

I was happy with the team, however, they mislead me when it came to the billing. Billing for a total of $5680.19! I was shocked, to say the least. I was told several times when asked how much that they would work it out through my insurance company. Never having been in this situation I did believe that they were working with my insurance company to come up with a solid figure. I was told all it would cost me out of pocket was $500.00. Which I gladly paid. I am sorry but when being told they would work it out with my insurance company, I naturally assumed that they would be working with my insurance on a set figure.

When asked several times, How much? I was told, we are not sure. I don't understand this, when everyone else seems to know, I am sure this was not a first time for the company. (I should have stopped the work at that point and thrown them out to the curb, but I trusted the company.) When the carpet was being ripped up and bagged I suggested that it was put on the curb for garbage pick-up which was free, I was told that don't worry that disposal of wet carpeting was part of the service. Well okay then, it should be part of the cost, not $495 extra, which I was billed.

I was billed for fans which did not make sense to me, for one bedroom which was the wetter of the two had only one fan while the dry room had three (both bedrooms are the same in size, minus 2 square feet), and a bathroom (a quarter of the space) that had two. Shouldn't fans be placed based on square footage? Not on where there was open space? Additionally, I was billed for fans that were not running, why? I certainly hope this is not the way you planned to do business.

I was billed for after-hours visit, which was not needed, it was the company's call to come out on the weekend, when all was good for a Friday afternoon. It was their call not mine. I feel that Stanley Steemer took complete advantage of my situation, and neglected to tell me what they already knew, the cost within reason. According to home advisor the cost should have been $600.00 to $3200.00 not $5680.19.

I live in a townhouse, not a mansion. The local company did lower the cost by $500 however that just is not right, when you consider it all. I am looking at a cost of only $4476.56 NOT INCLUDING MY CURRENT $500 payment. Therefore owing only $3943.56, once all is considered, (too many fans, not done by square footage, fans not running yet being billed, garbage costing, which would have been free, cost for detaching a vanity that wasn't attached to anything, etc.). $3943.56 should have been my total cost before my payment of the deductible of $500, leaving me with a payment of 3443.56.

When taking into consideration the following, two holes were punched in my walls (not drilled, damaged) door hardware was to be collected, (only half was collected), a piece of artwork was broken and swept up without a word by the team, and one room was said to be dry, yet was ripped apart. My son asked that the main carpet which was only wet be saved, it was not, (only a single area out of the entire space was ruined). The team did not hear or listen to me or the co-owner my 28-year old son, the customer, they did what they wanted, which cost me thousands. I kindly ask that you look into this matter, for I find it hard to believe that Stanley Steemer does business in this way. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED!

The carpet is in my bedroom, and gets very little traffic - and I had the path I normally walk on covered! When I used the website to get a quote to clean 3 rooms of carpet and 2 rooms of tiles I got an estimate of $159. I called to make sure I'm not missing any hidden fees and was told by a representative the quote is accurate as long as the rooms are not bigger than 300 sq ft. My rooms are about 250 sq ft each! I was given a time window of 8am-1pm so I took the day off from work just to realize that this was all a big scam. The actual quote was $550. I was told that the quote of $159 is ONLY if the hose of the truck can reach the rooms (what a joke) so if you live in an apartment building or you have a big private house and the rooms are all the way in the back or the second floor and the hose from the truck can't reach the carpet, they will have to use a portable machine and in that case the MINIMUM quote is $200.

Regarding the tile cleaning: the quote is ACTUALLY $1.5 per sq ft so the two small rooms (kitchen and dining area) cost about $250 plus fees for using a portable machine all came out to $500. I think they give you a quote on their website and on the phone by their representatives which is completely a joke to make you invest the time waiting for them and push you to accept their offer. I have lost a day of work waiting for them just to realize this was just a big scam. The company has numerous bad reviews regarding this subject.

First time I had ever used Stanley Steemer. While they were just about finishing up I watched the one young boy drag the carpet cleaning suction attachment across my hardwood floor and leave a 4-inch scratch right by my front door on my hardwood floor because he was too lazy to get a rag and wipe my floor dry. Then after they left I noticed all around the edges of my rug, the floor next to it was still soaking wet so I had to get a rag and wipe that up myself after paying them $130. Then I also noticed on my Hearth pad underneath my wood stove there was A3 foot wide puddle underneath my stove that I also had to clean up. Then to top it off I noticed a little spot on my rug so I started to scratch it with my fingernail and a bunch of dirt came to the surface and left an even bigger mark.

It was a high traffic area near my front door that he did not clean well at all and the edges were still very dirty after the carpet dried also in two different spots. Such a shame because I own a business and was going to use them to clean my entire showroom but after that experience I will never ever call them back. They did offer to send another crew out to clean up the dirty spots but if they could not do the job right the first time why am I going to take another day off of work to give them a chance to maybe get the job done right the second time? Not the way you run business at all.

I watched the Stanley Steemer video on the wonderful service they offer for cleaning the hardwood floors and tile. I made a appointment to clean two bathrooms on the website. I was quoted 99.00 dollars. They price per area not by sq ft or the size of the bathroom. When the young gentleman came to the house they said that the one large bathroom floors in the master bathroom needs to count as two bathrooms. My bathtub is a step up and then my ssid that is a separate area and it's going to be another $40.00. (Maybe 20 sq feet of tile around that.) Then if I wanted my tile counters done it was $75.00 (whao that's expensive). Then they said it a additional $40.00 for the second bathroom in the hallway. Ok. I said that was fine. I wanted the house to look nice before I listed it. Then they offered to wash the hardwood floors in the house. They gave me a price of $315.00 dollars.

They washed the house floors. My house is 1800 sq feet. My house is 15 years old and I had the floors refinished 3 years ago. When they were done they gave me a bill that was way higher than when we talked. They charged me an extra 100.00 dollars for the hardwood floors. I said "you can't do that. You can't raise the price after you gave a price especially without talking to me about it." The floor was wet when they left they said there were some spots that they can't remove or there are scratches. I mentioned that I was aware of the scratches. So the young man dropped the 100.00 dollars off the hardwood floor price. I paid on a iPad and tried to read the list of services. I paid and when I got my email receipt I noticed they charged me 75.00 to clean around my jacuzzi tub tile area not 40.00. So now to clean the floor in my bathroom it cost 175.00 dollars. What a rip off!

My total Speat was 551.00 dollars to wash the floors. You can hire a housekeeping service to hand scrub the floors for that much and the counter and shower. My house is totally empty because we are getting ready to list. So they had obstacles in the way. I got down on my hands and knees to clean the spots they said they could not clean. Dry juice and spills that showed up after the floors where dry. I was able to clean them up with a small rag and cleaner. Then I noticed all the dirt left behind from not vacuuming the floors properly. I got a nice pile of dirt. Don't call this company for anything. I have never had such dishonest people in my house. After I agreed to the super high price I expected a super clean floor you can eat off of. But it was not left clean. Crooks.

On Friday, February 13, 2009 I had a flood in my home. I hired Stanley Steemer to extract the water from the carpet which is located in the basement. They were to remove the damaged padding and pull back the carpet so it was able to dry properly. They were to come back in 3 to 4 days to reinstall the same padding and reinstall the carpet as it was previously installed before the damaged occurred. Needless to say this did not occur and things did not go as planned. A worker by the name of Jason ** arrived at my home by himself with no helpers to do the job on Friday the 13th. He arrived at my home at around 12:00 PM. He extracted the water from the carpet and then began to pull back the carpet and remove the damaged padding. When Jason went to cut the carpet, instead of cutting the carpet on the seam he cut the rug crooked. He damaged the rug beyond repair.

I did not know of this damage until he returned on Tuesday the 18th to reinstall the padding and reinstall the carpet. First and foremost the padding he brought to my home was the incorrect padding and when he went to lay the carpet back down since he screwed up the cut the carpet did not meet at the seam. The carpet is now damaged and unrepairable. The new padding was much too thick and the rug is destroyed because of his negligence. He did admit to my husband and myself as well as a fellow co-worker that he did screw up and it is his responsibility.

I called the owner of the company. His name is Anthony **. He wanted nothing to do with it. He told me straight out that it was my problem and he was not going to make good on it. I need so course of action to be done and I am turning to you. The carpet is 1 1/2 years old and cost me $3600.00 to install. I need him to fess up to his mistakes. His employee, Jason was negligence and they should be held responsible for their actions. They left my home without completing the job and left my carpet unattached in several areas. I paid them in full $867.00 for work that was not properly done.

On 9/26/08 I had the carpeting cleaned in my den, two bedrooms, a hallway, and a flight of stairs. I was very happy with the results but my den carpeting was saturated. I had just painted the den and decided to get the carpet cleaned. At the time, it was free of any stains but needed to be cleaned. Two days after it was cleaned I noticed that the rug was turning brown in color. It is a white burbur. I called Stanley Steemer and they said that was common with lighter color burburs because they could not get the water out and they agreed to come back the next day and clean it again. On 9/29 they came again and cleaned the den and got the brown out but left the carpet saturated with water again. In two days the stain was back. I called again and requested that a manager come and look at the rug.

On 10/1 a manager came and cleaned the rug again and sprayed a browning agent on the rug and raked it throughout. He explained that this may take a couple of applications to remove the stain but not to worry he would get it out. This treatment left a very unpleasant odor in the rug and had little results on the browning. The next day after the rug had dried I noticed that it was sticky, almost like a syrup was poured onto it and I was tracking it throughout my home. I called once again and complained, and they sent Jim ** on 10/2. Jim proceeded to clean the browning agent out of the rug to remove the sticky residue and told me that the previous manager had put an excessive amount of the browning agent on the rug, leaving the unpleasant odor and the sticky residue. He was on his hands and knees trying to take all the water out of the rug before he left.

He was here for nearly two hours and left me with a blower to aid in the drying process, but unfortunately the browning came back once again and I was still left with an unpleasant odor. I called to complain and Jim came back again on 10/4, he cleaned the carpeting again and stayed for hours to remove the water. This time he left me with two blowers but still the browning came back, however it was improved but not back to its original color. Jim came back on 10/6 to pick up the blowers and inspect the carpet. He said he was not sure what else he could do and offered me "a couple hundred dollars in cash". I did not ask how much as I was not interested in cash. I wanted my carpet back. I explained to him that I wanted another manager to assess this situation and he agreed to send someone, but insisted that he apply a deodorizer to get rid of the unpleasant odor.

I was very specific about him not applying any more of that browning agent on the rug as it kept making it sticky. He assured me that he was only applying a deodorizer so I agreed to let him do it. He applied the spray and brushed it in just as the manager before him, which I thought was odd and questioned him but again he said it was only a deodorizer, and we set up an appointment with another manager for 10/7 or 10/8. In the meantime when the carpeting was dried it was so sticky that my socks were sticking to the rug. The bottom two feet of the walls that were painted only two weeks before, were so sticky that you could stick paper towels to the walls. I called again furious and demanded a manager come immediately. Keith came this time and proceeded to try to clean the carpet yet again and explained to me that Jim ** had mixed the browning agent and a deodorizer together after I told him not to.

End result is this. My rug is still stained brown and so sticky that I can no longer walk on it as I am tracking it throughout my home and onto my other rugs and hardwood flooring. Keith was rude and simply offered me a full refund of what I had paid i/a/o $259.00 and said that was all he could do. I explained to him that I did not want money. I wanted my carpet returned to the condition it was in before they ruined it, and also stated that if they could not do that they should be replacing it. He just said that was the best he could do to "take it or leave it" and left. I called and requested to speak to the owner of the company but was told he was on vacation for the following week but they left a message for him to call me back. I was told he was to be back on Tuesday 10/21.

I never received a callback. I believe that in a court of law the least I would be entitled to would be to have the carpeting replaced, the walls repainted or cleaned, and for me to be compensated for the time I lost from work to be there for the 8 trips they made to my home. However, I am not asking for any more than to have my carpeting replaced. If I do not receive any satisfaction I will sue for all of the above.
