    I transferred 150.00 to my cash app on Saturday, it should have taken 24 hours or less to get the funds. As on this morning Monday 10/08 I still have nothing & to top it all off speaking to someone is impossible. Had I known Customer Service was not an option I NEVER would have started using the Cash App.

    On October 6, 2018, I completed a request for payment in the amount of $25 via Cash App. The funds were taken from my account and sent to a card not listed on my recipient's account. My recipient double checked their settings and card balance to find out where the funds were deposited however did not see anything. Although My recipient was not able to access the payment, they were able to refund the payment with an option on the app. I, on the other hand, was not able to see any record of a refund on my Cash App account or on my card balance. We tried finding a contact number to speak with someone in support, but it was found that they do not provide phone support. I followed their instructions and sent an email. I am currently waiting for a response from support.

    I am very frustrated that they do not have any kind of customer phone support and an effective tracking system for the disbursement and refund of money. If their app is incapable of handling something as simple as that I do not think it's an app that should be available for the general public or available on Google Play or Apple Store. Cash App is a faulty app and provides no customer support to help with its many issues. I do not recommend using it!

    Quite simple, last Friday I sent $670 to my mom... but she changed her phone number, and thus I canceled the transfer immediately (account now linked via other phone number). The Cash App, reflects this cancellation, yet I still HAVE NOT received the funds back in my account (it's been 5 days). I still have an authorization for $670 and that money cannot be used until the authorization is released. I spoke to Bank of America, and they said they are waiting for info from Square Cash. Today is 10/3/18 - my name is Lionel ** - I'm asking Square Cash to stop holding my money hostage... it's bad enough that you charge fees for transfers... use Zelle people, avoid the THIEVES!!!

    My daughter sent me 200.00 on Sept 23rd, Cash App withdrew the money from her account but did not deposit it into mine. We waited 8 days. After that my daughter and I tried to contact Cash App, and were shocked to find that this company Square Cash, who operates the Cash App does not have a phone number available to contact Cash App. They will only give a contact number if you sign up for Square Cash and get a code, but even then you can't get help. I have emailed them several times on their Support email and as you can guess, they responded with "We have received your email and will get back to you shortly."

    They have not contacted us. This company needs to be reported to the BBB and I am ready to do that. Companies like this who steal your money and won't give a phone number so their customers can get help need to be shut down. My daughter, who is a single mom pays her rent through Cash App and now she is out $200.00 and doesn't have enough money to pay that portion of her rent (she rents from us) again and buy food for her year old son who is a cancer survivor. Shame on them.

    I do not have an account with, nor have I used Square. While balancing my checkbook I noticed three transactions from Square cash. I immediately canceled my card. I then spent two hours attempting to contact Square to investigate the fraudulent charges. They are next to impossible to reach over the phone without registering and receiving a code from them. After researching the company, I found out that they allow an individual to manually enter credit card information without having the physical card. That screams of stupidity and invites fraud. Something should be done to close these bottom feeders company.

    DO NOT USE THIS APP! I have contacted these people 8 times & I have not received a response. They do not have a phone number for customer service. Only an email they hide behind & will never reply. They are holding a rightfully owed refund & when I contacted them all of a sudden my account went -$7.79 on 9-28-18. I wake up on 9-29-18 & it’s negative -$12.00. I did NOT make any charges & there is nothing in my activity stating where these charges are coming from.

    CASH APP is all over the internet with several complaints. They’re ripping people off & why? Instead of giving my refund that was clearly provided by the merchant I paid & responding to the complaints & inquiries I’ve made to them they’ve insulted me by putting my account in the negative for unknown & unexplained reasons. Federal states that when charging consumers any finance company or company such as CASH APP has to state & show where charges are coming from & why. I will not let them get away with this. There are over 140 people complaining on Consumer Affairs alone & I am contacting every person for a class action lawsuit. I’m also filing a complaint with the SEC.

    (Original Complaint) My cashtag is **. I’m inquiring about a $130 refund from *Becollgewi that was given to me for my son's SAT Bootcamp. I have contacted your company by email 8 times & I have not received a response. I need to know why you are holding & keeping my refund. I need it released immediately. There is no legal nor reasonable reason on earth why you should be holding a refund given to me by the company I paid. Your inexcusable action is causing me a great disservice. I am in process of contacting every legal agency to file complaints.

    Be careful and stay away from that company!!! They deactivated our account without any notice and the reason is: "business is prohibited by the Merchant User Agreement". So what happens after 2 years that you need to shut down our payments immediately? And even the phone support you shut down for us! Shame on you. Next time give your customers more time to find another better provider!

    On September 10, 2018 I Google to find a phone number for cash app to ask why my card wasn't working. Long story short the phone number was a scam although they send a code to verify your account on cash app. Well the person on the other end was rude. Thirty minutes later I checked my balance on cash app and it was zero dollars. I immediately contacted support through the app and explained what happened. They responded that they don't have a phone number and only correspond with customers through their app.

    Later I sent them all the text messages of ending card numbers that didn't belong to me. Cash app sent me another email stating after their investigation they found my account to have been compromised and would issue a refund. Several different agents kept sending me emails and I gave them the information they requested. They asked me to change my cash tag name but the app stated I had tried too many times but I personally have never tried to change my name. After not getting a response in five days, I contacted Cash app through Twitter direct message only to receive a general form response.

    Then Cash app sent me an email that they had deactivated my account and would disassociate my phone number to the account and I could no longer use cash app because of their terms/conditions and couldn't explain their decision. So they stole my money and there seems to be nothing the victimized consumer can do. This company seems like a scam when it comes to having your account compromised. A class action lawsuit needs to start immediately. How is it legal to be in a banking or funds transfer business with the practices they use and no phone number to call?

    I contacted them by email, by phone, as a business owner who gave them $$$. Receiving this message, but never a follow up: "Thanks a lot for sending us a message. A team member will reply to you within 1 to 3 business days." Go with PayPal, these guys NEVER answer phone, email, chat. You are on your own if anything goes bad! Don't use them.

    This is one of the worst business I have ever come across. I made a purchase online using this and unfortunately it turned out to be a theiving scam artist. I contacted my bank, they gave my money back temporarily while they did their investigation. A couple of days later, the money was taken back. I called my bank to find out why and they said cash app had stated the transaction already occurred and nothing can be done. I looked for their number and nothing. I emailed support and instead of asking for information they advise me on how to make another account. As if I'll ever use them again.

    After dealing with Square for about a year we never had any issues processing payments or receiving deposits. Over the last month or two we noticed our account was being put in review almost every time an instant deposit was tried. Those few times it quickly fixed itself. Than randomly one day we receive an email. Stated our information could have been compromised along with others so our account would not be accessible and deposits would be held off until this was fixed. We waited 3 days or so and were able to get back into our account.

    We received multiple emails over the week's course giving us a deposit date and funds were never received. Then randomly this past Tuesday we received an email stating that our account was being deactivated for violating the general terms agreement by creating another location on our account without submitting proper documents prior. The email also stated we would be receiving a list of our transactions and deposits over the time we used them and those would be sent within 5-7 business days. They also stated we would be receiving our funds by 8 AM today and the funds are still not there. We have not heard anything since and of course can’t get through to customer support because our account is deactivated and we can’t access our customer code.

    A few days ago I called this number that said it was Square Cash but it was a scam and I didn't know. I had this issue with a refund that I still didn't get. They told me to buy a Google play card so they can input the codes in. I lost like almost 125$ plus no refund. I do not recommend anyone to Square. I emailed them and they're telling me that they already refunded my money. These people need to be reported for scamming people.

    I am going on the news tomorrow to do interview about Cash App scam and customer service. And not having a phone number. That's how people are getting scammed. I had 2900 dollars stolen. Watch the video I made on YouTube. Just so you know if you use Cash App, have a problem, do not call a 1-800 number. They do not have a phone number. I was scammed out of $2900 bucks. Going on the news tomorrow in Miami. You would think such a big company that deals in banking would have a phone number. No responses to any emails. A class action lawsuit is needed. Found 100's of people with same problem. I have documented sending 5 emails a day. Even the guy I called at Square said it's a big problem they have and it blows his mind how it's handled. Working on getting it to ABC world news with this news team. Email ** with your story so I can show them.

    Have billed and received payments with no issues for years. For small business it works. There are many features we are not using yet, but the analytics are integrated into the program, so information is readily accessible.

    Same as everyone else. Been using them for years and currently am unable to access funds from a $29000 charge. Now client is not receiving their refund either. Impossible to talk to anyone, online help is obviously automated and of no help. This is crippling for a small business. Contacted FTC (please do the same, they respond quickly and the more complaints the better). Do not recommend using Square ever again.

    Started with Square when I needed a new in person card reader solution for my business. SQUARE STOLE ALL MY MONEY! Every single transaction was put on a 90 day hold while $840 in merchandise is out of my hands. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE TO TALK TO. Not one response from the company via ANY form of communication other than a BBB complaint where they said something along the lines of “We have the right to hold money for this long. Please see our policies.” Square then deactivated my account so I really had ZERO means to contact them. On day 90 they said we will be holding your money for 120 days. On day 120 they claimed EMV fraud on ALL MY LEGITIMATE TRANSACTIONS.

    I have had an EMV chip reader for 4 years! Square gave me NO OPPORTUNITY ago dispute this claim; NO real proof that a chargeback ever happened; NO way to contact them; AND EVEN HAD TO AUDACITY TO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT FOR SUPPOSED RELATED FEES. They will not respond to my numerous BBB complaints and it seems they are simply going to get away with stealing $1000+ from yet another small business owner. Please everyone consider using anything other than Square up. Hopeful that I will eventually be able to join in a class action lawsuit of some type in order to shine a light on Square’s criminal activity. These guys are CROOKS!

    Recently I was scammed by fake Square cash customer service representatives. Basically I was trying to solve a refund issue so I called the “customer service” line and long story short they scammed me into purchasing Google play cards that totaled up to 870 dollars. These scammers robbed me of my money. This would not have happened if There was better more reliable customer service. I will never be using Square cash after I resolve this dispute.

    Re: CASH app. Sent payment to someone using a previously used Cashtag. Money was not received by the intended person, but was collected by someone using that Cashtag and a different first name. When I called Cash support, was met with the most rude person I have ever encountered in my life. Wanted my personal info, and when I asked why, he would not explain. I asked to speak to his manager and his response was "MY MANAGER IS A VERY BUSY MAN"! I could not believe it. I asked for his name. His response? "WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO TELL YOU?" Speechless on my end. Then he said that his name was "JAMES BOND".

    So far I have been unable to speak to anyone. I have to assume that this app is operating fraudulently. They are dealing with money and banks. This behavior is reprehensible, and is absolutely unacceptable. I am stating the obvious here. Have tried all avenues to reach them and Square, but to no avail. Reporting them to the government for fraud.

    This is unfortunate. This company is big, they are interested in themselves and are not interested in anyones well being but their own. Hold times to get help making their product work are severe. When their product fails to work and costs you money they shrug their shoulders and recite their limited responsibility. Ask the representative for their email in order to correspond and avoid outrageous hold times they say no. Ask for a call back when the rep does research to figure out what happened to the money from your transactions, they say no. Call them on the phone with a member of your staff to troubleshoot an issue, they say they will not speak to more than one person on the phone at once.

    They do however want to loan you money at an outrageous interest rate and take the interest out of your credit card transactions automatically just like the other predatory lenders. We have not fallen into that silly trap but they do try to get you roped in to destructive debt. This industry does not attract decent people, however there are better companies. So very disappointing.

    It seems I had a cash sale of $411,164.74 which never happened but Square insists it's not a big deal as they "do not report to the IRS." My concern is that it's on my account and it's an error of Square which should be removed!! But Square cannot remove it?? Unacceptable! No one at Square is concerned that this happened. I'd like to know how something like this does happen? And in 2017 six valid sales vanished from my days transactions. They could not retrieve the transactions at all. And now with this "cash sale" they can see that it was made from my iPhone?? Square is not to be trusted. Closing account very concerned with their practices!

    Square not only deactivated my account quoting the same two sections as they do with the rest of these complaint but they also have stolen my money. This is fraudulent. This is serious business. They were working for us, we were paying to be our processor. They got greedy and decided to keep our money. I don’t know how many businesses have been able to re-coup their money. But the longer they hold on to our money the more interest they are collecting. ILLEGAL. I am appalled how many business they have defrauded. We need to stop being victims and rally together. I urge everyone to contact the Federal Trade Commission, contact Jack Dorsey the CEO of Square and even Jim Cramer with Mad Money. Their email address are easy to find on Google. I’m sure Mr Dorsey would not be pleased if all of us filed a Class Action Suit against his company. We want OUR money back- NOW!

    I am a consultant with a membership base. Square took my business and then suddenly discontinued me without warning. It's not hard to say that they don't take membership services upfront. So, now I have 80+ clients paying their dues on a recurring basis and suddenly Square leaves a scary message, won't take my calls and I have to scramble to migrate them to another payment service. I haven't broken any laws. All my clients voluntarily signed up for my service. I'm infuriated. I feel like a criminal.

    Square/Cash App does not want you submitting complaints to them via phone because they want you to do it via email so that they can ignore you better. I experienced an issue where an individual by the name/cashtag $portlandsos or Portland Security, he hacked or managed to get ahold of my personal information and began to rob me of my money that was linked to my actual bank account. When I contacted my bank they gave me information that led me to the company Cash App 877-417-4551 and Square 855-700-6000. I attempted to contact these companies and long story short because I can only put so many characters here they ignored the issue and went as far as to block my account from contacting them with further issues.

    I discourage anyone from using these questionable companies and products. Certainly stay away from Cash App. I took note and pictures of everything for proof. Don’t just take my word for it, start googling their scams and fraud, apparently this is not the first or last time that this has happened. My goal is to prevent this from happening to anyone else. I’m short about $300 and $portlandsos is enjoying himself while Square/Cash App continue to mistreat their customers.

    I am an Aromatherapist, I live in a very small town. So for more exposure on the weekends I sell some of my blends at a high traffic farmers market. Well they decided that my business was “high-risk” therefore deactivated my account. There is over 1,000.00 of mine that they have not deposited since July of this year. They suggested that I refund the money to the customer and I have up to 120 days from the date of the transaction to do so. What? How can I refund something I don’t have? My customers don’t want a refund, besides they are using my products (blends, oils, salves,etc.). If 120 days pass are they going to keep my money for themselves? Thieves! This has to be illegal! Do NOT use Square.

    Delete/Discontinue the use of Cash App/Square!!!! They do not need your permission for them to siphon money out of your bank accounts. I started receiving emails about money being withdrawn without my permission. Even when you opt to use your 'touch ID' to authorize the charge!!!! They have little to no customer service and refuse to give you the other individuals information so that my bank can pursue further action against those individuals. When deleting the app make sure you remove all of your banking information as they can still withdraw money without your permission. Transactions go through instantly and does not afford you the opportunity to cancel the transactions once they go through even if they are legitimate.

    Once particular 'company' withdrew money within seconds of each other, the company is called 'Portland Security'. Cashtag is $portlandsos. I've never heard of them and did not authorize them to receive money from me but yet, somehow they started siphoning money out of my card that was linked to Cash App. I legitimately used Cash App once to send my little brother some money but this individual managed to somehow rob me of all my money without even being physically present. Cash App/Square either condones, encourages, or does not care about these transactions because nothing has been done to refund my money. I will make sure something is done about this so that this never happens to anyone ever again. I encourage everyone to read more about other peoples experience.     Buyer beware. Customer invoices have been going to spam through Square. That means customers don't see their invoices and don't pay! This is a documented problem for years (search online to see), yet has still not been fixed. When I called to report I was put on hold for least 20 minutes to scratchy, dated music and a loud voice encouraging me to hang up and get a callback. Finally spoke to a rep talking over many other people in the background. She told me they are aware of the invoicing problem because servers look at Square emails as being spammy and over emailed. Then I read the Consumer Affairs reviews with all of the scam complaints with the Square CASH APP.

    I am starting to wonder if people and companies are catching on that this company could be suspect. The rep told me they are aware of the invoicing problem and engineers have been "working" on it. For years?! She said I should ask my customers to go to spam folder and set the Square email to not filter to spam. That looks so unprofessional on my company and is such a hassle for customers. Invoicing is a FUNDAMENTAL part of any business and the fact that they can't get this right says a lot about the stability of Square. I used Paypal for years and NEVER had this issue. Also, the login wait time for Square dashboard often takes way too long. I am glad I have not invested more into this company.

    I went to a Tax Preparer office who should of filed prepared and filed my taxes. I paid with my Bank Credit Card. The tax preparer used Square as its point of service app. I later found out that my taxes were never filed. The tax preparer was arrested and indicted in Federal court and is awaiting sentencing. I filed 3 separate complaints with my bank and Square continues to defend this merchant and refuses to refund my money even after being presented with proof. DO NOT USE THIS APP or SERVICE. You cannot get a person on the phone. There has to be a better way to manage these businesses and require a stricter level of oversight when it comes to these services. I never authorized Square or the Tax preparer to use Square but it seems that now as a consumer we are also responsible for knowing these details as well. It's all a SCAM!

    CASH APP IS FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD!!! PLEASE READ: I looked up a number from Google because I couldn't get cash back at Wal-Mart, I spoke to someone from the Cash App number listed. They told me to go to the gift card section and find a specific card and transfer the money there. I said, "NO. For what. I have a Cash App card," I hung up because that sounded suspicious, then I called another number found on Google for Cash App, the rep ask for my info to log in and fix my acct so I can go to the atm at the Chase Bank and withdraw my money, well as I was on hold, the rep withdrew all my money from cash app then hung!!! I called back to find out what the heck was going on and they kept hanging up on me... I keep emailing Cash App and NO RESPONSE!!! Cash App is FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD.

    They are the worst to deal with I have dealt with so far. 1st problem is you can’t speak to someone without a code. I received an email telling me that my account had been deactivated with no reason. Could not make contact to find out the reason. I would suggest paying another company a small monthly fee.

    BEWARE OF CASH APP, $CASH. I tried to send money to my son's account. He didn't receive it. $500. After being on hold for 32 minutes I called again and they said Andrew the guy I had been talking to was in the bathroom and was sick. I so ask, "But you can help me right?" Peter ** said he could. Then he told me that they were having technical issue and wouldn't be able to reverse the charges until Monday. Then they said well the issue is I sent too much money and for my own security they were rejecting the money but it wouldn't be sent back to me until Monday.

    I asked to speak to a supervisor and he hung up on me. I called back and this same Peter ** hung up on me 6 times. I called Chase Bank Fraud Department and they are now going to handle this. BEWARE. This app is a scam. Also this app customer service is foreign, which make it hard to get anything done. I am now going to blow them up on social media so this doesn't happen to anyone else. #$CashAppFraud

    I do not work and know Square, Inc. I don't know how Square, Inc has all my bank account information and continued to withdraw from my bank $175.15 three times. I call the bank to report fraud but this company continued to process to get the money from my account. I think this company is a fraud. They have the phone number but I can't talk to them because they request the code and I do not work with them so I do not have the code to provide to them. Please help to get this fraudulent company out of business so they can not scam anybody anymore. Thank you so much for your hep. They get $5000 from my credit card.

    Holding up a soft opener for family and friends for my new nightclub. Since by MA law you can't give any alcohol for free, I must buy at full price all the beverage. I purchased the premium packed of 14k. The idiots canceled my account because I used my credit card. Well, that what I think because was no explanation and you just can't reach them. A good lawsuit against this cheap company will teach them a lesson. Not sure about CA, but in MA they definitely are breaking many laws. I refund the money back to my card and they are holding it. Do not use this awful company. They are the worse!!!

    I sold 2 products to a gentlemen, using the term loosely, and he later charged us with fraud. I have his signature, and so does Square on the receipt, I checked his ID against his face, have his purchases in the ledger and still Square would not help. They don't have a contact phone number so you can discuss your rebuttal, and they tell you to go to a square.com/code to get a code so you can talk with an agent, surprised there is no such place when you get to site, and so you spend hours trying to get help to no avail.

    We collected several thousands of dollars using their system in just a few months, and they gladly took their fee, however, when this crook claimed fraud, they simply took the payment and gave it back to him with letting us present our case, and once they take money you can't get it back. Surprise, we purchase Intuit and won't use these ** again. I hope they burn in hell for being crooks, and the guy who pulled this scam may one day return to our show and believe me I will set the dogs on him, not to mention, he will also burn in hell for beating old people out of their monies.

    I am an attorney who provided Square an alternative for payment and a benefit to my clients who wish to pay their legal fees. I may use Square once a month. I just received a notice saying that my account was deactivated because I was cash advancing. I tried calling in and the system said my account was deactivated and hung up the phone. I then tried texting and finally got a very vague response about cash advancing. I responded with a very polite email stating that payment of attorney fees is not a cash advance. I received a response that they understand how frustrating this can be but the decision is final.

    This is the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with, or even attempted to, since there is absolutely NO way to talk to anyone once you are deactivated. I would HIGHLY recommend everyone be VERY CAREFUL of Square and I would use another credit card service if I were you since you do not want to have to go thru what I have just done the past few days trying to reach someone to have a polite and reasonable discussion and figure out why they are misunderstanding that payment of attorney fees is NOT a cash advance as they claim.

    I needed to send some money to my son and went to the Google Play Store and download the "Cash App". The few reviews posted at first glance were positive. So I downloaded the app and tried to send the money. I sent money 3 times and he only received one of them so the other 2 transactions are MIA!!! Tried to get a telephone number, customer support, something, someone to try and help me resolve this issue but I was only able to get an email address!!!

    Sent an email to them several days ago, still waiting for a reply!!! So I decided to do further investigation and apparently there have been NUMEROUS complaints such as mine left on Google Play that have gone unanswered. BEWARE... Don't understand how Google Play has allowed this web developer/site to get away with this and did not vet this site a little more diligently in order to protect their consumers!!! SHAME ON YOU GOOGLE PLAY STORE... for allowing this scam to continue to your unsuspecting consumers!!!

    So one of my friends asked me to use cash app to send them money so I downloaded and sent them some. Well the next time I used the app somebody had a similar name as my friend and the money went to someone else. I requested the money back like the app said but the person declined my request and ran off with my money. The app doesn't help you get your money back at all they want you to search for their customer service number and once found they have reps that don't speak good English and give you the runaround. I say do not use them I highly suggest using Zelle. It's secured and easy and no fee.

    Square put me out of business, let me say that again, SQUARE PUT ME OUT OF BUSINESS. My first transaction of $2,000 with a new customer (worked months to get) that I try to deposit goes under review, I provide all documents they requested to them (INCLUDING MY DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH PHOTO) and receive no responses to my emails or community posts. Then I notice they have blocked me (see screenshot) from reading any related topics in their community posts. Over a day later, (I've lost a customer and countless other reputation based sales that would have come from this) and my funds are still frozen.

    THEN I RECEIVE THIS EMAIL: "It is against our Terms to use Square for anything related to direct marketing or subscription offers or services. We regret to inform you that your account has been deactivated. Any funds currently in your account will be held for 90 days before being released to your linked bank account. We apologize for the inconvenience, however our decision is final. Thank you for understanding." DISCRIMINATION BASED ON MY RACE/GENDER and SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS.

    It has been a nightmare trying to get an invoice paid to one of your merchants. I have tried 5 times with my Amex. I have spoken to 5 different Amex reps who assure me they've approved the charge. Square was holding the 2nd charge the entire weekend only to cancel it Monday. I tried again, and the same thing happens. Amex said again it went through. They actually waited on the line to make sure they approve it real-time. I know it didn’t go through because I typically receive an email with receipt from Square immediately.

    I've had cash app close to 2 years, no issues til 6/15/18. Made purchase online and merchant rejected. They don't take prepaid debit. The funds still came out of my cash app card. Merchant refunded money some day and emailed me transaction slip. Called number on card of had to email. There other bogus numbers online too... including Square support. I got cursed out for acting for MY money... Then told I had to pay additional 100.00 and they will then refund all my money plus inconvenience so they pay 250.00... Then more lies. Their posting system was down but they want me to send them more money. Only 2 more lies left now...

    I had I duplicate which I don't was still using some card throughout for work. And now lastly now it started 6/15/18... Today is 6/25/18. After me calling number on card, bogus number from online, emailing cash app support and Square support. I got email from Celeste from Square 6/19/18. My money will be on card in 24-48 hrs. **... Then email from Square on 6/23/18. This a cash app issue. They will contact soon.

    Now today 6/25/18 email from cash app... "We have not heard from you in 2 week, we have closed our case. If further info submit another case." ** joke. Now when I put in new case same 2 week bs is emailed back. I've been lied to the entire time with cash app and 6/15/18-6/25/18... Is not 2 weeks business days are calendar days. Cash app is really a scam for better work. I hope cash app account are sucked dry with all the money they have going to everyone that has a cash app acct. I hope that happens in 24-48 hrs.

    Recently, someone I did not know accidentally sent me money through the Square Cash App. They immediately sent a charge request to me for the same amount, which is a common occurrence on money transfer apps. Just to protect myself, I waited until the money they accidentally sent to me posted to my bank account. Once the money posted, I fulfilled the user's charge request. Should be all good, right?

    Let the nightmare begin. The next morning, I received an e-mail saying the mistaken payment made to me was being refunded. This means that I both sent the user a payment AND they were getting a refund of the money they originally sent me. This violate Square's own policy, which states that Cash App transactions are final and cannot be reversed once they are deposited into the recipient's account. I got double charged, and the second charge was entirely without my consent or authorization, for hundreds of dollars.

    I spent days e-mailing Square, and finally got their attention when I created an extensive document showing how everything happened, and proving that they violated their own policies and possibly the law. Once I threatened to contact law enforcement, someone finally got back to me that could actually do something. In the end, the situation actually was resolved by Square. However, I worked on the issue all day for three business days, and that is time I will never be reimbursed for. I was also extremely stressed and paranoid about my bank information being on file with Square, and canceled my debit card. All because of Square's own mistake. I do not recommend using the Cash App with direct transfer to your bank account, if you use it at all. I am swearing off money transfer apps for good after my experience.

    What a mess. Had a sales exhibition on May 18th in Los Angeles, with over customers attending at a five star hotel in the city. We did a tremendous volume of credit card and check sales. Every card was present on site, and personally signed for by the customers collecting their items. No chargebacks, no returns, no refunds. Square is holding $61K of my money, refusing to provide a name for a POC that I can communicate with, and unwilling to explain the reason as to why my money is held. This is an absolute joke. I have vendors that need to be reimbursed and other expenses that need to be addressed with these funds.

    Square is non-responsive to my more than 10 emails on the topic, and when they do reply, it’s a generic answer that does not address any of my questions or concerns. This company is blatantly discriminating since nobody has the courtesy or decency to answer my messages. Square de-activated my account, without a warning, and without a justification. I provided samples of all receipts, transaction documents, photos of the items purchased, phone numbers for each customer so Square could verify the authenticity of each transaction, and photos of the event location. Have you ever heard of a company that refuses to provide any semblance of honest customer service? If you want that experience, use Square. Otherwise, stay far far away.

    Please do not get them if you do not want a very unnecessary heartache as a merchant. Everyone is under suspicion if the amount of your entry does not reflect your usual deposits. I have been processing with Square for almost 3 years and receiving phone orders from the customer in question for over two years. All of a sudden my whole deposit was held and a verification letter had to be submitted. There was no phone call made to me as a courtesy like my bank would have done to resolve the suspicion immediately. They held the $1775 in question along with the other 2 deposits not in question for that day telling me that my account was up for review like I had stolen a credit card. And the form required was very invasive questioning me as to how I knew the Client etc. What does that have to do with the legitimacy of the purchase.

    Square could have called the client to just verify that the funds were approved if that was an issue. I had to find out that the funds were held via going to my bank and seeing them missing. They could have called the customer to verify that the online purchase was made and was legit. Now I have to wait 2 more business days for a review while they hold the funds unnecessarily. Very poor merchant services and I will cancel my whole account and I will recommend them to absolutely no one else. By the way they were referred to me by a hairdresser client of mine back in 2015 and I have never had a single complaint filed against me from any of my customers and not a single chargeback will all my daily sales. I have installed Venmo and I am looking into downloading other apps because after talking to many reps at this company I have concluded that they do not want or need my business.

They had me switch from my Wells Fargo processing then canceled my account holding almost $6,000 in charges for 90 days because they said my account seemed fishy!! WTF. Absolute joke of a company!!!     My checking account was billed from people in California. They billed my checking account 5 Times. I don't use THIS company, I am not a business owner or customer of these people. They took the last few dollars I had in my checking account, I am retired and on a fixed income. I tried calling the 855-700-6000 number to have the recorded message tell me to put in a customer or business code in order to talk with someone. I got on the website, the HOW can I Help just brings up troubleshooting and how to do things. It says you have to sign in to get help. So you cannot get help or talk with anyone unless you have an account with them. I don't have one, BECAUSE I don't use them.

    I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY, OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE AFTER THIS. So I had to sign a dispute with my bank, and they have to see who made these transactions out of my account. SQUAREUP, YOU NEED TO DO BETTER BY YOUR COMPANY. Do not, I repeat do not use this company for anything.

    I have been using Square for a few years with not many troubles other than an inability to speak to a real customer service rep, and a frequent glitch in the app that prevents/slows/requires reboot while trying to use the instant deposit feature. The fees Square charges for both regular use and instant deposit were something I felt were worthwhile as long as the transactions and deposits were seamless. At some point, Square began to offer me lines of credit that could be paid back in small amounts with each swipe, which I found helpful to assist in growing my business. I ignored the interest fees and took them up on it three separate times and it became a nice way to manage some of the larger ticket expenses without pulling it from other areas of my small ebbing and flowing business.

    It was something, though attached to higher fees, that I appreciated as an option in my business relationship with Square, but in the final repayments of my third line of credit Square rescinded their offer for the line of credit in a time when I was really needing to make one of those larger ticket purchases. Their reason was because I had a few less card swipes in the past couple months. It left me in the lurch a little bit and has caused me to reevaluate what Square is really doing for me and my business.

    Some of the features seem really helpful but there's a cost attached to it, and Square can decide to be my business partner one day and not, the next. Which is just not the kind of business partner I need given all the other stresses of running a small business. I wouldn't say my experience was bad but the app can stall, and the customer service is a bit lax. It's not a relationship I'm going to continue because Square just wants my fees and isn't really concerned with I want as a business owner.

    I have been using another POS for my restaurant for over 20 years and decided to try the Square Up POS. Big mistake on my part. Not only is it very limited as compared to what I was using they charge you 5 dollars per month per employee to access the POS. They have a 30 day trial but now I have had the system over the 30 days so no return and now I am stuck.

    I have read several of these comments and I agree with most of them. In the beginning I was excited about this app. It was fast, efficient, and the easiest app to use when transferring or receiving funds. I even referred several friends because of the convenience that I initially had with this app. Then I guess the saying "it sounds too good to be true" really showed its ugly head. It has gone on three weeks and I still haven't received some funds a friend sent me using the cash app. It was requested 4/11/18 and was taken out of his account the very next day 4/12/18. However, the funds are still not in my account to this day. As others have stated their only form of communication is through email and they have constantly copied and pasted the same correspondence putting my bank at fault for not receiving the funds.

    I have asked for a supervisor and that is when the correspondence ceased. I've sent them emails back to back and no one has replied since. It has literally turned into a nightmare and my funds have either been stolen from this company or lost somewhere and their "support team" has not provided a resolve or restitution for my funds! Someone mentioned that it's a good app until there's a problem but I would have to disagree. It's fraudulent when an app is a hit or miss withholding their consumer's funds! I will never use this app again once my funds are received!

    Returned merchandise at the Point of Sale after I used my Square Visa Debit to purchase merchandise originally. Issued a refund receipt via the merchant. Almost two-months later and the transaction was immediately acknowledged by Square Cash and to date there have been no e-mails returned or attempts to reach me via telephone to resolve the SIMPLE issue. The e-mails that I receive are cat and mouse, pass the ball, swearing someone will call me back or asking me to submit yet another ticket because the last one couldn't be located. There is no way to simply call customer service which should be a HUGE RED FLAG that this company is a HUGE FRAUD!!!

    Supposedly there is a way to receive a "magic code" to provide to reach a live rep, however it's either hidden very well or just another BS excuse to frustrate the consumer to the point of them giving-up. It may be only $40 but it's THE PRINCIPLE now and I am irate beyond words that a company can be so incompetent----especially with all the technology. So many people with similar stories of Square holding funds and being non-compliant when help is needed to refund money that rightfully belongs to the consumer. Why is this operation still in business? I AM PERPLEXED BEYOND IMAGINATION!!!

    I periodically find that I need to take credit card payments from clients. I registered with Square; account was verified and I verified with them that I could make 2 X 900.00 charges. In fact their representative assisted me with this first charge as I was unfamiliar with the set-up. This was end of March, 2018. They processed the charges then, the hurdles began: where do you get your customers; where do you advertise; send us a copy of invoice. I provided as much as possible. Including a copy of the authorization for charges from the client. For two days I kept in touch - as I had a code then - to make sure I was providing whatever they needed and that all is well; but, was told 'Your account is under review." Surprised of course. Then, account was 'deactivated.' So, cannot get that 'code' to speak to a live person.

    Those two days I received 'canned' responses; under review. I wanted to know Why? Reason? All I heard was "under review". I need to ask them: If my business was 'risky' for them, then, why process the credit card; hold the funds; then tell me deactivated and no live person to speak with. Do they put the cart before the horse by taking their funds then trying to verify/validate their customers? I called my client and they say that their credit cards were each debited $900.00 each on the 3rd of April, 2018. Yet, I am unable to get the funds into my account; unable to speak to a live person at Square. I ask: why did they not void/reverse the transaction if they felt that I am unworthy of their services? I have to have a code to speak to someone; but cannot get that special code because my account has been deactivated.

    To the powers that be. Please investigate this, as in the USA, this should not happen. They have collected $1800.00 and are holding this in their hands. They are not speaking with the customers. They were so eager to register. Reverse/void the charges and deactivate my account but do not take the funds of small businesses and hold on to it without good reason - this seems to be common practice from the reviews. I cannot ask my clients to pay again as, they have in good faith, paid me through Square. So, I am out of pocket for 1800 minus their service fee and, Square will not communicate further. What an embarrassment! Square's management/owner should be investigated for this practice.

    I have been with Square for over 2 years now and have done many transactions through swipe, online purchase and invoice. Every payment method has worked perfectly and money was in my bank account within 24hrs of the purchase sometimes the same day. These complaints below seem like they did not verify their business or show proof they are a registered business which does look shady and seem like you're trying to commit fraud. I have not once ever had a problem with payments and know of 8 other companies that have all used Square successfully since they started that is why I chose them.

    Square has excellent fraud protection compared to other companies and do request a lot more info than most to ensure they protect you well but it is necessary. Seems these other reviews were trying to pull shady business or were not even a registered company. They have never held back money from me and every customer I have had was very pleased with our services online and not one bad complaint about issues. I have made thousands of transactions unlike these others that have only had one or two or only a couple days of operation. Once again looks very shady. That alone tells me they are not following proper business practices so it's no wonder they got cancelled.

    Seems this is all part of VeriFone's massive public smear campaign and I highly recommend ConsumerAffairs look into these bad reviews because they do not go into much detail and by the sound of it did not even read the terms of use policy which clearly states you need to provide proof you are a legal operating business.

    I highly recommend to take an e-commerce or business course before attempting your own business so you know what is actually required. Sounds like a lot of home sellers with no legal business registration. Once again I highly recommend to anyone that knows how to run a business properly and legally. If you are a shady business operator you will end up like the above reviews!

    This company is strange. They clearly rob people of their money but nothing ever happens to them. The CEO Jack Dorsey also owns Twitter. It's weird because Bank Of America has never cancelled my account and kept the money. You would think there is a law that requires financial companies to approve companies before taking their money. My account is rack and I don't know how they can take off my debit card and put one is not mine. Since December I trying contact them but they just send a bunch email with the same question and a bunch customer services different replying your email.     My monies were mistakenly sent to another bank and the bank simply was requesting a Letter of Indemnity. They refused to assist. All the money that I earned from my small business is gone. Customer service is non-existent. You will not get support. They require you to obtain a customer number to be able to call in. They are not able to give names or emails of managers. Square will not assist you and I'm pretty sure their practices are borderline illegal. The expectations of response is not reasonable. It took them 3 days to get a document for me to sign. They will happily collect fees on your transactions, but will disregard you when you need help.

Someone has been using my Square acct., they deposited money into my bank acct. I login into the Square acct. and saw transactions up to $85 dollars.     Holding my payroll money. I open the account with Square. Linked my bank and they said I was good to go. So I log in to pay a contractor and was doing it by direct deposit. Feb 23 I completed the payroll. Feb 26 the money was taken out of my business bank account. Feb 27 they deactivated my account and said it cannot be reactivated. Also that I need to pay the contractor by writing a check. Which I cannot do because they took the funds from my account. Feb 28 I emailed them since they will not give me a customer code to talk to a live person.

    They was to respond in 3 business days. Well they didn't. I wrote again still nothing. I had to pay contractor out my own personal money because they took the payroll money. I have now done a BBB complaint. I have all emails backing what I say and my bank account to provide they have the money. I am now fighting it with my bank to get my money back. I am a small business owner. Them doing this has really put me in a bad spot. I just want my money back so I can replace my personal money.

    Square, accepted and approved a payment for $25000. They removed fees and held the rest, Never released it. Research proved no problem with the American Express Card it had been run on. The money was quickly paid by them. Several phone calls revealed no answer from Square. Square reported that "we can do a review any time we like within the first two years". After the review, Square said they had found no problems, I had submitted every document that they asked for and also submitted copies of the ID from the customer. I asked them when I could expect them to release my funds and the reply was that they were not ever going to. They said "you have to refund the money". I replied that "I do not have the money, you have it held".

    I refused, stating that the customer had the merchandise and the customer had confirmed payment from their account. I told them "If I refund the money I will have no merchandise and no money". I was told "if you do not refund the money we will find you in breach of contract and do it ourselves". I now have no money, no merchandise. Make no mistake, everything cleared on the other end, it was simple. Square charges less fees than American Express, so Square would have lost a couple hundred on the deal. If it would have been one of the cards where they would have made money, it would have been no problem. I charged thousands on other cards through Square with no problems.

    They advertise to accept American Express, but the truth is they say "get another form of payment and we can approve it, but not this one". They do not tell you this until your customer has run their card, had it approved and left with your merchandise. Square told me they would cancel my account and refund the money if I did not refund it. They said refund it and try to get the customer to voluntarily give you another form of payment. They held every transaction I made, besides this one as well, in an attempt to force me to refund this transaction. As soon as I refunded the money as I was forced to do, Square immediately closed my account. I believe it was because I had argued with them. Make no mistake, the customer who gave me the American Express card had done nothing wrong.

    The card they gave me was their card, it was good, the money was paid by American Express, no complaint was ever filed to the contrary and the customer on the other end confirmed the legitimate purchase. Square representatives were extremely rude, demanding and lied to me several times during my attempts to reason with them. I have no merchandise or money for that completely normal sale. Square has broken so many ethical and legal laws, the owners should be arrested. They have no regard for customer rights and will cheat a customer out of thousands of dollars in order to save their company pennies. They are Liars and crooks. Their actions have caused me irreparable harm.

After running the card I then had to submit bank statements and government docs which was fine, then they asked me to provide contracts I do not have or require and it's been 3 days and I still do not have my funds.

    I will keep it brief but everything you read about Square is TRUE, opened my account on Monday, processed a card on Wednesday and got an email saying my account was under "review" for the $3.5k transaction on Wednesday. Called numerous times asking what the deal was and same response, "it's up for review". The next day I get the same email as many of these people received, "we are deactivating your account". I literally made one transaction and was told they were going to hold my money for 90 days!!!! What? Is this legal in America?? To hold money that's not yours for no documented reason?? Stay away from these crooks, there's literally thousands of bad reviews on the internet about these crooks and what's really telling to me is they are not that old of a company, '09 I believe and to have thousands of bad reviews is very telling. Please let as many people you know about these people and their "ethics", or lack of.

    Been with these company for 4 years because we do maybe 20-30 transactions throughout a year, agree to pay higher percentage because we don’t do much credit card processing. After 4 years plus they would hold our money without notice and requested our invoice and government information to our business after been with them for 4 years, they don’t even sent you email notice prior. These is garbage if you expect reliable and customer service company, you will not get these, forget Square. I’m going to get me someone reliable and A+ customer service. I had excellent service with Chase Merchant thru my other business. I might as well go to them.

    I have been with Square for many years and my business charge sales are high. If you use them or use the Square store they give you NO protection from chargebacks. They just ripped me off for $1100. They do not verify shipping addresses and will give you no help for a chargeback.     First I'll state that I overlooked that they don't allow direct marketing companies. Our company/compensation plan is fully backed by a law firm and compliant with the FTC. So, we broke their policy in this area and apparently they get to hold $24,000 for 90 days. Because our account processing was deactivated that makes us no longer a customer and we are unable to reach someone by phone, even though they hold over $24,000 of our money. This company is the essence of garbage... I would steer clear of this company entirely out of principle of not supporting crappy companies.

    We signed up for Square about 4 years ago and processed a few transactions per year. We changed our email address and no longer use the one they had on file. We took a credit card payment on 2/8/18 and discovered today 2/14/18 that they are "holding" our payment for a "verification form". When I managed to contact them I was informed that our account was "suspended" until they received a completed verification form. We had no knowledge of this new requirement as we did not get the email requesting it. When I pressed about the form and what information was needed, I was told there is a "government form" they require, plus some info about our business and three months bank statements. First of all, I don't give anyone my bank statements. They are not loaning us money or prepaying us for pending payments, so we feel it is none of their business what our bank statements say.

    When we tried to find out what their reasons were for requesting these, we were told that they wanted to see our business trends. Again, none of their business. We were told without the forms that they would not send us our money. So we requested a refund to our customer which is going to take another 2-7 days before it will show up on their end. So basically, Square has had our money a week and it could be another week before the customer gets their refund and Square is using that money free of charge. We have cancelled our account with them and will never use them again. Customers beware of signing up with them unless you want to release unnecessary personal information to them for use. They will let you sign up and use them a few times and then out of nowhere they will shut you down and tie up your money and your customer's money. If I could rate them as minus 5 stars, I would.

    I own and operate a multi level Media Corporation and used Square a few times then they "Deactivated" my account for absolutely NO REASON! Then when I look for a customer service # on the site... there isn't one! So I Googled it and when I called got a recorded message that said I need a "CODE" to talk with someone and to go back to their website to get a "CODE". So when I did, an error code pops up that says, "Your account is not eligible for a contact code!" So in other words they simply don't want to talk! This is frustrating as I didn't discover this until I went to bill a customer for shipping costs of an item. There isn't room in this market for a credit card processor that embarrasses its customers! This is simply a sad company with poor business morals and practices.

    In November 2017 I opened a Square, Inc. card processing account for my business. Everything went fine setting up the account then on November 7, 2017 I got a e-mailed message from Square, Inc. "Your processing account was deactivated and your funds are on hold until February 5, 2018." Well, February 6, 2018 Square, Inc. did not send my money. They did a 01. deposit transfer in and out my linked bank account -- still holding the funds.

    I contacted the BBB the same folks that gave Square, Inc. a A+ rating yet this business has hundreds of complaints -- concerning this same issue. Square, Inc. will steal your money. You will get a 90 day funds hold notice. But, 90 days will pass you will not get your money. NEVER. You are just paying Jack Dorsey, to process card payments to keep Square, Inc. open. I lost $1,129.35. WARNING: "You will lose all your card payments dealing with this company." And I said that Jack Dorsey you are a crook. Prove me wrong. Don't deal with these crooks. You will have your money taken. Get a real card processing account.

    HORRIBLE! Good luck trying to talk to someone over the phone. Absolutely a nightmare! After a few uses (all within two days) they deactivated my account and are STILL holding almost $1k of my money!!! I also NEVER received the card reader in the mail and in order to speak to someone over the phone you MUST request a "code" from your account, but I can't since they deactivated my account with absolutely NO reason why nor was I informed in advance. I have only been with them for less than a month and would tell everyone else to RUN!!! I am also still waiting for them to reply to my numerous emails! If you're selling things, try Amazon Pay, but if you're using it as a payment company, I have no recommendations.

    I got an email from square stating: "We're sorry to inform you that we are deactivating your account. We reviewed your account and found a persistent pattern of transactions generally associated with high-risk activity. We regret that, starting today, you will no longer be able to process transactions using Square." I totally ignored it. It came from a funny email address. I have never had fraudulent activities in the 6+ years that I have been with them. I own the chip reader & never had a complaint from a customer about a charge. I thought to myself Square would never just close down an account without prior warning. They know we use these systems to run our businesses.

    Well I was wrong. A client contacted me stating she couldn't get past the CC section on my website. Not only did they shut down my account but I can't contact them by phone only by email. I am beyond pissed, I couldn't make sales all day. I've been sending clients PayPal invoices in order to not be shut down. I have to reconfigure my entire register to another service.

    In December 2015. We decided to use SQUARE for our card PROCESSING for our trucking company. After 1 week I was contacted by SQUARE claiming that I had a charge back on my account (Customer claimed unknown charge) and SQUARE deactivated our account... And held my MONEY... supposed 90 days.

    Being a small COMPANY this hurt my business and me and my family (we had to STAY on the road over the holidays).

    I contacted my customer that SQUARE claimed the chargeback for...just happened to be my brother in law. There was not ever a chargeback. In fact we together attended his card issue bank and spoke with 3 different people there. THE last time was just in November 2017. We have gone over each and every transaction FROM Dec 18 2015, to November 2017. THE charges were PROCESSED and paid to SQUARE. THE money was not ever returned to my customer. TO date NOW being 2018. I still have NOT. Received this MONEY or the other MONEY that was in my SQUARE ACCOUNT. $3527.60 is owed to me. When SQUARE deactivated my account. This cuts off ALMOST all ways to contact SQUARE except email.

    I have been contacting SQUARE almost daily requesting my MONEY. In July 2017, Square AGREED to send my MONEY through a WIRE TRANSFER. and asked me to supply my bank information (I done as asked). 3 days later I was contacted by SQUARE saying they were sending me a paper check. Approx 1 week later again SQUARE asks for my bank information to send a WIRE TRANSFER. Since July 2017 this has been back and forth.

    Then in December 2017 Square sent me an email. Stating that a WIRE TRANSFER was sent to my bank (they included a number to trace the transfer). I contacted my bank many times. And 5 times I had my bank try to trace the supposed TRANSFER (at a cost of $25 each time to me). The result each time was the same TRANSFER NOT COMPLETED. I have been contacting Square daily requesting my money. And keep getting the same reply or no reply. I have even sent messages to the board of directors and nothing. I have spoken with lawyers in about 8 other states. 3 of the lawyers want to start a class-action suit against them. Are willing to work pro-bono.     I have short rental on Booking.com, and I use Square to charge guests credit card. I’ve only use Square for 6 months. I had three disputes. Total amount of around $2300 have been withdrawal by Square. As guest claimed it’s unknown charge. And first dispute was directly debited from my account without any notice. (I noticed until the second dispute happened.) Which means guests stayed at my place for free. All the time, effort and money that I invest in my business are totally wasted. Second and thirdly one happened with the same situation. I‘ve been contacted with Square, but they was not helpful at all, I feels like I have been robbed brutally. The way they deal with the case is very passive. It feels like if the guest’s bank would like to charge the money for any ridiculous reason, they would support it. If you don’t want to be robbed please don’t choose Square. If you did, then It would be beginning of troublesome and annoying.

    Customer purchased/paid for my product back in October 2013. Their overseas bank is now requesting a reimbursement (Jan 2018). I even called the customer and they replied they never spoke with their bank and they don't know this was going on. Rogue bank in my opinion. I supplied Square evidence of the product purchased and the delivery notice from UPS. Square took one day after I sent in details and is attempting to pull funds. Square did not even have the decency to call or email me with their investigation findings. They state in their information that they will investigate. So, with that said, this is unsatisfactory for a credit card company to side with an overseas bank to pull a reimbursement of over $1,900.00 for a custom product that was sold and delivered. Worse, they don't even provide a reason nor back up their loyal customer. DON'T USE SQUARE! They won't be your back! Instead, they will stick it to you in your back!

    So I took a payment just fine. I was awaiting the deposit and it never came. Received an email that my deposits were suspended. Had to issue an refund. Luckily the customer understood and was willing to pay in cash as an alternate form of payment. So I jumped through all their hoops, provided all the requested documentation, etc. Received an email. All was back to normal. Took another payment today and now my account is deactivated. (A $3200 payment to boot), now I have to wait at least 90 days for it to be released!! This is BS.

    Of course I got this notification at freaking midnight so I couldn't call my customer and their customer service is useless if your account is deactivated. There "no support" for deactivated accounts. SO now I am out $3200. I have no way to pay for the supplies that I need to complete the transaction. Any suggestions? I am praying that when I contact my customer and I explain the situation (I have already issued refund via his card) that he can pay for the goods in alternate manner. Still hoping for advice.

    I have a chargeback, not valid, in addition another deposit that Square decided to hold for a minimum of 90 days. They informed me through email, that the funds were going to be held. Told me to send them (Square), which bounced back from a no reply email. This company is unethical, and can't be trusted. I wonder how they have an A rating on BBB?? BBB might be another entity in collusion (taking money) to show a favorable rating? Deal with Square and you will find out soon enough, they are a Scam and can't be trusted. They are holding $1291.00 of mine, until who knows when. What is my recourse? File suit, any suggestion?

    I do not recommend the service to anyone especially if you need access to funds right away or a drop shipper. After taking three payments successfully Square Up decides to deactivate my account and hold funds for ninety days just before they were to be deposited into my account. I had to refund each of my three sales and further deactivate my account because of an action I find unethical and damaging to my business.

    I have been taking point of sale payments for about 2 months and everything was going fine until I got a new android phone, and the Square app became restricted and would not allow me to make any changes in the settings, so I tried getting help from customer support. I had an event and took in $500 of point of sale payments even though the Square app said I had restricted privileges, and I continued taking payments as usual on this Saturday because there is no Square support available on weekends.

    ON Monday I began trying to contact Square and going through all the usual complicated methods of obtaining a customer number. We had a couple conversations with customer support and they literally could not find out account and claimed we were not customers. My husband got extremely frustrated and had a hard time expressing himself because English is not his first language.

    At this point I think the customer support person decided to completely cut us off and have now disabled our Square login completely so we have no access whatsoever to our point of sale records, sales, or ability to take payments. We have an event today and are going to use PayPal, but we will have to go to small claims court and obtain an attorney to get our $500 of sales we made last Saturday. This is unbelievable and they literally stole our $500 and are claiming it is not our account. I am trying 1 last effort at reaching a supervisor at their company, and after that we are going to the authorities to report the theft.

    We are small business. We signed up for Square. ALL of our customers allowed us to charge their credit card. No problems nor complaints from our clients!! Square HAS KEPT THEIR MONEY on hold all of a sudden, cancelled our account. They have not refunded the customer their money and have not explained why the account is cancelled. More importantly they have kept our clients' money!!! Our situation is the same as Gary from GA who posted Dec 15th 2017. Does Square think that because we are a small business we are helpless? Our clients think that they have paid us, their credit cards have been charges, they are paying interest, the only entity that has money is Square, not the client. Not us. Square makes itself unavailable for contact once they have closed the account. It is impossible to speak to a real person to find out what is going on. This is illegal.

The last transaction a fairly large one for me, they are holding my money, my client has no problems with transaction going through.     I have been working with customer service for a week or so. My device worked with the card reader for months. Now it isn't. First they tell me my device is compatible then they tell me it isn't. I'm supposed to go buy a new device that works with the reader. Sorry, nope. They changed something that made my stuff stop working so now I'm going to switch to another provider.     We were looking for a simple way of processing our credit card charges and someone mentioned Square had a very easy to use desktop application that worked well for "card not present" type charges. It is an easy to use format, unfortunately, it's what happens next that is really just beyond belief. My company has been in business for over 35 years and sells nearly exclusively to the wholesale trade. Our customers are known to us, so it is extremely rare for us to have a chargeback or any issues at all with the charges we process.

    For some reason when we began using Square it was only about a week before they put our account on hold and requested a bunch of additional info. They say that there were "security related issues" that required the additional info they requested (3 months bank statements, government ID, copies of invoices, a description of our product and info about our presence on the web, etc.) so we sent the info and waited, seeing them process over $65,000 of our charges without depositing any of this money into our bank account.

    When I found out they were holding up this money it was a Saturday morning, but Square's customer service department is closed on weekends so it was another three days before I was finally able to get through to ask what was going on, and even then there was nothing concrete they could tell me about why our money was being held up. We provided the documents they requested and finally about 10 days after the hold began our funds were again being deposited. Things ran fairly smoothly for the following week and then we received the same notice we had received earlier and once again our charges were being processed (withdrawn from customers bank accounts) but not deposited in our account. Once again a vague "security issue" was the alleged reason for the hold and once again the very same list of documents (bank statements, etc.) were requested.

    When I was finally able to reach a real person at Square they had been holding our money for 10 days and the total this time was over $75,000. I told them it was incompetent of them to keep requesting the same documents we had already provided but the CS person said a "different group" was reviewing our account this time. This is nothing more than Square's attempt to make a little more money off the float sited into our bank account. We have had no security issues, no chargebacks, no complaints from customers, it is all just a made up fabrication by Square. We have filed complaints with multiple different government agencies at this point but while we wait for one of them to act and get these scamsters shut down, let me tell you this is not a place you want to go.

    My daughter and I just started using cash (Square). We have sent each other money a few times. However, this time $400 was sent to me and it says that I need to verify information to receive my money. I put ALL my information in (name, full social, date of birth) and then it says they need a picture of my driver's license to move forward. With hesitation and frustration, I attempted to scan my driver's license. I allowed it to take a picture of the front of my DL then it says to scan the back.

    Well, I attempted to do this for about 45 mins and it wouldn't take the picture. It keeps freezing. I emailed support several times, no response. I attempted to call but if you dont have code it doesnt let you speak to anyone. I searched online how to get the code and it just took me in circles. The only thing you can do is email. So I tell the sender (my daughter) to just cancel. It says she cant cancel or it will take several days for sender to get their money back. This is horrible. I will never use this app again and will make sure I let everyone know about my experience.

    Like almost everything, they started very well... now it's a very bad company. I have an animal rental company for parties. One of my clients, after I made the event, reported that he had not done the event. We provide all the documents that certified the realization of the party. Square, withdrew the funds from my business account and informed me that they were in hold (the funds were withdrawn). After two months I was informed that the customer's bank had given the reason to his client and therefore my company lost the complaint. They're really nothing professional. I will cancel the account.

    I've had a Square reader for many, many years... Since they first came out, I'd imagine. I don't have access to the e-mail address they have on file as I don't use it too often and have never had trouble with anything. I realized a few days ago that I haven't received my deposits for some transactions in September, so I logged into the actual website versus the mobile app. They said my account wasn't verified (been using it for at least 6 years) and it tried to get me to link a debit card. I had no problem doing this, but when doing so, it said I would receive an e-mail link to verify. I had an old Excite e-mail that I started in 1996 and no longer had access to, so there was no way to verify.

    I tried to update to my current e-mail address that I've had for several years, but it would not allow me without verification of my old one via a link. There was no option to verify by mobile number (secure code) which is on file or by any other means. I tried to contact them, but it said my account wasn't able to use their phone service and I should e-mail. I googled the number and called, but I was not able to speak to anyone without having a predetermined code. As a last resort, I filled out the form and stated I did not have access to the email on file and asked if they could call me at the mobile number on file instead. I listed it again in case they were not able to view. This was nearly a week ago and I've heard nothing. They still show my balance and they're holding it. I have absolutely no way to get it out via bank transfer, check, etc. I have no idea what to do and they won't respond!

    I sell an innocuous health supplement - just ONE - I am a nascent company and unfortunately placed my trust in Square payments as an option to PayPal so my customers could pay smoothly online with credit cards. Out of the blue, Square deactivated my account - for no reason - and even worse, there was NO WAY to contact them except via email and expect a response back in "1 to 3 days." They insist on a "customer code" that you must get from the website in order to have what seems to be a privilege to talk to them on the phone. But because my account was "permanently deactivated", I was not even eligible for a code, and so shoved to the email only contact category. WOW. Talk about being screwed, and with my business and money.

    This is UNACCEPTABLE. I will be writing everywhere how horrible this company is. They are based in San Fransisco, CA - I am wondering if their targeting me for deactivation is POLITICAL. I am very suspicious of the way they are running this company. I feel there is corruption behind them. You just don't treat people like this. They either need to change drastically or be shut down. Seems they're getting too big and arrogant for their own good.

    My company has mobile reps who do about $1k a day in sales and require a mobile reader for card transactions. While Square is easy to setup and use, the company is impossible to deal with if there's a problem. Why was my account canceled after just 9 days? I'll probably never know because the only way to contact a person is to log in and get a code, but when your account has been canceled there's no way to log in. Email can take days/weeks due to Square's epically horrible customer service. This isn't the year 2000 -- as I have quickly learned, there are other mobile solutions that actually want your business. Clearly Square does not.

    I used to rave about Square as I thought that they were the wave of the future and recommended them to so many people. However, suddenly my account is frozen, funds not deposited and I can't get in touch with anyone for days. Since, they don't have a phone number that works, or you can't call without a code, or can't call at all based on your account. I finally find a number and the girl doesn't know anything. I have to call back as they are on West Coast Time and a billion dollar company does not have 24 hour customer service so I have to wait until 1 PM to call again on the East Coast. Something changed on the dashboard and demanded a debit card to go with my account. I filled out the information and thank goodness took a screenshot since this information has now disappeared from their system.

    I finally get in touch again, even though they were supposed to contact me, with them and they accuse me of owing them money. It is a huge amount, over $20,000 dollars in which I am not affiliated with this company, not shareholder, no an owner and not part of in any way. They have a different email address for this company's accounting department yet, they insist that it is me. I keep writing that I am not affiliated with this company. This is fraud. Can we resolve this? Contact that company's accounting department to figure out which is what they have in their records. However, they insist it is me, and the CASE IS CLOSED. No way to talk to anyone with half a brain, no more calls, only emails to robots who say CASE CLOSED.

    Now, they are holding my money from my small business. I am trying to issue refunds to my clients but they took the money and now are trying to take more money from my account in which the funds were NOT DEPOSITED. SQUARE STOLE THEM. SQUARE SUCKS. SQUARE = FRAUD. This is extremely frustrating, upsetting and a terrible experience. I want to take them to court. I want to resolve this and it appears millions of other Americans are having the same frustrating experiences and challenges with this giant company.

    I have used Square for years with absolutely zero problems. I never received not even one chargeback. All of a sudden, they send me an e-mail telling me they are terminating my account effective immediately due to "Transactions associated with high-risk activity." This couldn't be further from the truth. I run an I.T. consulting firm and my clients rely on me for sound I.T. advice and solutions. I keep my clients happy and have never once had a problem. This company will leave you in a lurch at a moment's notice without warning. I now process through another company who has no problem with us being an I.T. consulting firm.

    After receiving a payment from a customer, and waiting for 7 days for money to be transferred to my bank account which never happened, I called customer service and it took me 2.5 hours of waiting time to get to someone on the joke only to tell me that my bank information wasn’t active even though I’ve received payments before and had no issues. I was told that I had to set up my bank account again and it was going to take 5-7 days and then they can attempt to transfer the money again. No one contacted me or sent an email or anything to notify me that there was no bank information on my account anymore. It led to me having to refund the money and lose a customer because we were not able to perform the work needed when contracted to do so. When I was on the phone with Antoinette she was completely useless and offered no help whatsoever.

    I made a purchase for a friend using my credit card, the vendor used Square. Now every time I use a vendor that uses Square with that credit card Square sends a receipt to my friend! It isn't anyone's business where I shop or what I buy. Plus why does Square have my credit card information stored!!!

    My first transaction went fine. The second one Square asked questions for verification. I sent all the documents they requested. Next day I got a letter say my account is denied and my funds are being held... I was looking for a PayPal alternative. Square was recommended from a few different sites. They are definitely not a alternative. Guess I'll start searching again.

    When my husband & I purchased new cell phones 2 days ago, he could not transfer his old Square account onto his new phone, so he created a new account. He selected a new account through Google Gmail along with a new password. Then he made a very small credit card transaction with 2 different credit cards to make sure the system was making the correct deposits into our linked checking account.

    The deposits were "verified", but the amounts from the credit cards were never deposited in our account. Square customer service told him that the email he selected was used by 2 other users, one in Canada & one in Germany & was now "flagged" as a problem. The Square agent told him if he wanted the situation resolved, Square would get their "tech support" team to delete the bad email file at the cost of $200. A friend who works in computers told my husband that was a steep cost for pushing a delete button. My husband is now working with PayPal, who have customer service agents you can understand on the phone. Beware of Square!

    Same as everyone else on here. We run a legitimate business and have a web design and development company helping people with online advertising and creating an online presence. We consistently do between 1000 - 5000 per day in revenue and all of sudden Square decided to shut our account down and hold funds. It's crazy and working with this company will bankrupt you or put you out of business. We should all get an attorney and start a class action lawsuit for damages that this company has caused. Against the American business owner. They apparently process $37 Billion per year. That has to be a good settlement for some lawyer and the rest of the business owners. Honestly more disappointed and heartbroken than anything. Being a business owner is hard enough but getting screwed by this company is just icing on the cake. I hope someone sues them for the damages they have caused.

    Made the mistake of giving my credit card number to a health care provider in NY who, for reasons I am not capable of understanding, uses "Square" or "Square Up" or whoever they really are for processing. The worst. And once they have your credit card number, they "save" it and you can't get it out of their files, so may need to do what it now seems I may have to do -- contact your issuer and have new card with new number issued. If you must give a credit card number to someone who processes through them, make sure it's a card with a very low $ limit.

    Ripped me off $462 of my disability money. I sent two transactions which they told me went through successfully. Days went by neither account received their money. So I signed onto my Square account and they had deactivated my account for no reason and was told they are holding my money for 180 days. This money is my social security income I used to make a transaction!

    Square is horrible. Deposited over 50k in total transactions then had 2 deposits same day from clients and get flagged. Sent in requested docs and got accused of fraud. They’re the fraudulent ones. Now they are holding my clients’ money and holding up job. Do not use them.

    I accepted a payment through two transactions in the amount of $4675 via credit card for the first time ever with Square's payment services. While awaiting deposit, I was informed that "verification" was required. I submitted supporting documents, including a copy of my government issued ID, an invoice for the transaction, and linked my bank account during this process. I called Square's customer service line, and a young woman assured me that all of the info I had provided was plenty, She assured me that verification would be complete soon, and I would have my deposit from this credit card transaction. (Please be aware that I also incurred a fee of 3.5% of the total, plus 1% for a same day deposit.) After speaking to the woman, later in the day, I received an email from Square, stating that I had violated the Terms of Service, and my account would be deactivated.

    Adding insult to injury, I was informed via this email that they would further be holding my funds for 90 days. I was given no as to how I had violated their terms of service, nor was I given any avenue of recourse. It seemed to be a simple "out of luck" situation. I could not even get anyone on the phone, because the "customer number" they give you, only led to a recording, explaining that my account was in violation, and that my funds would be held for the duration mentioned in the email.

    The recording said I could contact Square, however, they gave no means of contact or email, only a link to a FAQ section on their site, with a link to a copy of their terms of service. I read these carefully, and considerately, and cannot find where I am in violation of their terms. I wasn't given any chance to explain myself, or correct whatever might have been a mistake on my verification forms. I would just like my money that I earned from this company, and I do not think it is fair or legal that they hold my funds until December 31st or 90 days. I've filed complaints with the BBB & the FTC, but am hoping that I ACTUALLY even get to see my money at some point. If anyone has had any luck in recovering their funds, please contact me or comment.

    I have been a Square account and I have been a client for 4 yrs. Today for the first time after charging a customer's credit card they held the 15K and did not deposit. Then they asked me to give the client's full name, address, zip, credit card, cvv number and provide 3 months bank statements and my corporate filing documents or they would not deposit the funds. When I called the help desk they would not discuss this issue unless I provided the above "validation" documents. I checked with my bank and they said this was highly inappropriate for them to request this information and it must be a scam. When I go online there is no way to get a person and now their site says it point of sale processes in North America are not available. They also say it will be 9-14 days before my clients’ money is processed back as a refund!!! This company is a complete SHAM!!!

    I have about $1300.00 in my Square account for last 5 months and I asked him to issue me a check. The guy from customer service told me it may take up to 30 days. After 30 days no check. I tried calling them but my account is not eligible for phone contact. I sent numerous emails. The same guy is telling me the check was returned due to wrong address. I checked my address on my profile it is the correct address. I provided my new address via email and he is telling me that it will take another 30 days. If my first check was returned due to wrong address how long does it take for you to Mail it out again? Then I figured they never issued the check so I waited for 2 more weeks then I got an email from the same guy stating that my check is in the mail and I will be receiving it shortly.

    It has been 3 weeks still no check in the mail and I keep sending emails no response. Can't get hold of anyone over there to find out where my $1300.00 is. I'm so frustrated with this company and my last option is taking them to small claim court or get an attorney involved. It's a big shame for founder of this company who also is the founder of Twitter. Be aware of doing business with Square.

    I had used Square in the past to process credit and debit card transactions from my customers for good and services. The only good thing is taking a card and using your phone, after this it is a DEBACLE. I did a transaction for over $2500. Nowhere are you told there is a transaction limit. AND YES LIKE THE OTHER REVIEWER SAID THEY ARE A BUNCH OF MORONS! They don't have the most basic information. I ask them where does it say my transaction limit when I log in? This week I inquire about getting the $2500 limit raised and of course the MORON on the phone doesn't know and says someone will call me with the information.

    I go to my account and it is UNDER REVIEW, they did this before when I took a payment over $2500 and they held the funds. This week my account is under review again though I DID NOT ASK FOR MY LIMIT TO BE RAISED. I JUST WANTED SOME INFORMATION!! So now they want 3 months of bank statement and I say NO WAY. I don't trust these people. They put you on hold with different levels of service based on how they rate you and sometimes you can't even call them, they make you log in then enter a code when you call, then they have a system which at times they will say you aren't eligible to talk to them.

    The guy today was rude and I told him I didn't ask for a review at all or an increase. Just wanted info. He said "Well it already started" and said if I didn't want to send the documents then they would send an email with their decision and HUNG UP! Frigging punk!! And it says "If you don't SEND THE DOCUMENTS your account remains suspended!!" So I called up after using them for a year to ask a question they didn't have and they suspend my account?? DO NOT USE THESE IDIOTS! If you get a payment and want to deposit immediately they charge an extra 1% and are taking up to over 4% of your money and provide the worst, most arrogant, incompetent service of all time!

    It took 8 days for them to respond after their email stating a response would come in 1-3 days. Then the emails don't even make sense then suspend my account for a review that I didn't ask for. Like the guy said in other review he was wondering if they are morons? They are arrogant, ignorant morons without the slightest interest in anything but taking your money!

    Not sure if this is a fraud of just a bunch of morons - Used them for close to a year, then suddenly account got disabled, supposedly because it was violating their term - which is BS, it is 100% in compliance with all terms, just some highly educated support clown decided that it did not like my business. Pretty sure my money in the account is something I will only see after going through the courts and the money I paid for their credit card readers is most likely gone as well.     As a business owner of just under 40 years, we are extremely disappointed with SQUARE for our merchant processing services. We switched to Square because of their claims of flat fee, dispute support (and payment if you lose), in November 2015, ease, etc. Of course, shortly after we switched to SQUARE, they raised their flat fee. They have limited hours to get a hold of them and you need a code each time you call. They usually don't pick up phone and you have to enter your code and wait for a call back. They have no hours after 6pm PST Monday-Friday and NO HOURS on weekends. There is no place to email from their website or portal. You can't review them on Yelp, Google, etc because for some reason they are hidden from those spots. After finding this option and reading all of the negative reviews, I realize I am not alone.

    We had a customer submit a chargeback for 4 months of services totaling $4000.00 with our company (something that they had received for 2 years). We submitted contracts and over 80 pages of supporting documents which included emails and proof of services received and rendered. We won the first round and then the customer submitted a one page fraudulent letter that they requested to stop services immediately back in December 2016 which was a lie because we continued to provide services for December, January, February, March and April 2017 before the dispute was submitted late April 2017.

    Also, we require a 30 day notice and you can't stop services effective immediately per our contract. Again, we submitted all of the documents and then received email from SQUARE that it was resolved in customers favor. We were told by SQUARE that it is the cost of doing business. We could take them to small claims court, etc but it was done with SQUARE and they couldn't provide us with THEIR CC company information and that it was protected by law. We knew it was MasterCard, but that was it.

    Of course, we didn't receive the SQUARE dispute protection because of the amount (so don't pick SQAURE for this reason as you will never receive it). We were also told by Square representative that sometimes the CC companies let the customer win if they are good customers that use their card a lot. We know that the customer that initiated the chargeback probably spends about $200,000 a year with their MasterCard. But, that doesn't mean that they should be allowed to STEAL and file fraudulent disputes that cost businesses AND ultimately all customers with higher fees, etc. Legal contracts should be upheld and theft shouldn't be tolerated.

    In addition, the process of dispute stunk. We were provided with NO information on the dispute other than a 1 sentence reason code. First time, customer said services not received. When we proved that and won, they submitted dispute as customer requesting credit. That was it. Not even sure that Square submitted all of our documents. Plus, it is HARD to submit supporting evidence to SQUARE. It is not user friendly and it is very time consuming. We had 100% of the documentation and proof. This should have been a slam dunk! Also, in almost 40 years of business we have always won 100% of chargebacks prior to SQUARE. Now, with SQUARE we lost?!

    Please heed our warning and go with traditional merchant processing company with good customer support (hours, options like chat/email/phone) AND will protect you against fraudulent claims and disputes so you CAN stay in business. So, we are moving back to traditional Merchant Credit Card processing company. Someone needs to look into Square regarding their business practices, etc??? Too many complaints here to not open an investigation. BUSINESS AND BUYER BEWARE.

    We use Square for our credit card processing for two different businesses and have for 5 plus years. We use both options to either swipe or key in. Funds are posted to our account quickly and have only had 1 issue during this time with a charge back. Unfortunately, they tend to side with the consumer more often than not in my experience. We like that we aren't under a contract and there aren't any excessive monthly report fees. The per transaction fee and percentage is manageable.

    I have been a Square user for my business for the past two years. I dont do a ton of volume but enough for them to have accommodated me better than they did. I got a new bank account and had trouble getting it on my account. Therefore, I messaged a Square associate who said it was "all set" to put funds in and charge. When I did this they went into my old account which was closed. I lost over 250.00. When I contacted Square they said there was nothing they could do and they could not reverse the charges. I was extremely disappointed and am never using Square again. Small business owner beware!!

    I use Square to collect payments from my clients for contractor work. I had a large sum of money paid to me and square put a hold on it. There was a ridiculous verification I had to do to unfreeze my money. After completing it I received an email stating the verification was accepted and the money would be released and in my account in a few business days. Just 2 hours later I received another email from Square stating that the money was frozen because I had to verify my account again. The same exact thing I JUST DID AND GOT APPROVED. There is no one to talk to. Everything is sent through email and you only get the number to talk to someone after things go really wrong. Very frustrating.

    I sent in almost the exact same information in again a second time but this time they required my contractors' license and my business license. This is an insane request for a company that is supposed to be collecting money between parties and dispersing it accordingly. Due to the fact that I needed my money very bad to pay the employees I had used and my own personal bills I sent everything requested but this company is a joke. The customer service agent I spoke with didn't even understand why I needed to do a second verification.

    It was two different departments doing separate freezes and checks and no way to communicate between departments to OK it from the other department. It took me 5 days to get my money and that may not seem long but in those 5 days Square was consuming my life. I was constantly dealing with emails and submitting forms and trying to get a hold of someone. If I hadn't been efficient and on top of the process the entire time it might have taken twice as long. I'M CANCELLING SQUARE IMMEDIATELY!

    My boss has had Square for a little while and we needed to get into his account to check activity. First complaint... We had to set up a password, as usual for any account. A few days later, tried to get into account, would not accept password, although I had it written down and was typing it in correctly. Tried over 10 times and had to go through their stupid I am not a robot pick a picture nonsense. So we had to reset the password. I am trying to get into the account today, same thing, will not accept password. I have my Caps lock off, I am typing each word meticulously, slowly, over and over, same stupid result, will not let me in and that stupid pick a picture to make sure you are not a robot keeps popping up. I hope I can convince the owner of the company to go to PayPal. I use them for my business, no problems after 7 years of being with them. I hate Square!!!

    Oh, and on top of this, my boss is so busy he generally does not have time to put in a customer name. I called Square, asked them to help me with a few sales in looking up customers' names so I know for sure which account the payments should be processed to, they will not help me!!! Seriously, you have our bank account number and all our personal business info which I can provide and you can't give me a last name on a sale a few months ago!!! Useless!!!

    I opened an acct with square. I processed my first order and they closed my acct. I had to contact customer support through a friend's acct because I couldn't call them with out a code and no code because they scammed me out of my money and closed my acct. I finally got ahold of them and they assured me I'd get a call back from a supervisor which never happened, they closed my friend's acct and never replied to any of my emails!

    We've had Square since it started. NEVER a single problem. Never a single time when the system was down ever. We use it DAILY! About $1000.00 per day run through their system. Flawless. We will never switch credit card processors if they keep up like this and stay this same course. We love Square and how easy it is to process and customize the options.

    We get buying reports and can customize our business on when and how our customers purchase. It's AMAZING! We get calls every day from credit card processors begging for our business and we will never change. It's the best and we are thankful that we finally have a processor that doesn't have hidden fees or hidden charges and just does what they should do without any hassle... process cards! Unless Square duplicated, we won't be using another processor ever!

    AT&T is the worst ever!!! There is no support and I will underline the main reason to stay away from them. VERY VERY DISHONEST... Let's start in 2015 Dec 31st. Well I bought a BOGO for an active S6 Samsung. Was not told it has no expandable memory card so I called on January 1st when customer service was open. Of course after 8 am mind you. I placed the order at around 7 pm on Dec 31st so there is no possible way it could have been shipped. Well I was right. So I was promised on tape that I would still get buy one get one but I started calling in my March bill inquiring about it. I was promised I would receive credit up until August then told "Sorry you are not qualified... So if you are not paying off those phones we will ruin your chance to get a post paid with anyone..."

    Since the new AT&T CEO took over service has been service completely crappy. No help from any senior service member. I have been told by senior staff if you don't like it switch service. Think about it - my bill 5 lines costs me $265 plus pending the month, that's more expensive than some car payment let alone car ins. payment. Ok well for my payment of service this is what they have done. I was in a corporate store 4 times in one day 16th of June. They told me "Well I have no idea why your phone getting shut off." I had it turned on but then had the store close.

    Mind you. They cost me between employees not being able to find me because my service was shut off again. Not including vendors I could not get a hold of. It cost me 1200 cash. Well come to find out I had a service payment arrangement for the 19th and was told by the GM in a corporate store that AT&T is breaking arrangement. I must pay now, fine. I have to work but funny thing they shut it off again.

    Ok so WTF... I spent 2 working days to find out they finally decided. Decision was I lost that phone 1 and 1/2 years ago. Reported it recovered within 2 days and decided to put it on the watch list. So once again I was told "Switch service, leave." My bills with them have been paid on time 13 years??? They are too big. Over half of their customer service would be fired because they discredit their own company. They sub 90 percent if not more out of the USA that are working 24 hour shifts. They run in 2 shifts and have been told that by 611 agents. Stay away unless you like giving to work to 3rd world countries and not ours... As it is we have no choice in service and can do nothing. PLEASE SIGN UP FOR AT&T SO YOU CAN FEEL AS DUMB AS I DO.

    It is impossible to fight against frauds with Square! Even though we have sales agreements and all the personal info in this sales agreements Square cannot defend our business against scams. We were working with Square since 2012 and received over $2M and they are getting bad everyday. Do not risk your money! When I called their customer service, there was a guy trying to calm me down as `Calm Down Bro Calm Down`! I am not your ** bro! I am your client!     I have two Square accounts but in different industries. The first account is about three years old. I have had five Capital loans thru Square to the tune of 150K. Paid them off quickly and so on. I opened a second Square account for another business of mine and Square Capital has been a nightmare since I opened the account. They sent me an offer 30 days into the new account… Then denied it the next day. No reason given as customer service has NO information on Capital as it’s a very hush thing apparently. 30 days later I was offered again and it went through. I paid off the most recent loan in less than four months. On May 23rd I received another Capital offer and it was also denied. I thought to myself there has to be something wrong here with this account as I paid an average of 4500.00 per month to quickly pay this off.

    Just received this email from them this morning...“Thank you for writing in and for your interest in Square Capital. Per the notice sent on 5/23/17, your loan through Square Capital was declined due to: A review of your account indicates you are subject to a lien or other financial claim against your business. This decision was based on both: Financial crimes associated with the Square account holder’s name. Outstanding lien associated with the Square account holder’s name.

    We have reviewed the decision and have determined the decision to be final. Please note that this decision is based on Square Capital’s internal proprietary evaluation of your Square account. Our decision does not include publicly available credit reporting information. Although we are unable to approve your request for a loan through Square Capital at this time, this decision does not affect your ability to accept payments with Square. We periodically review eligibility and will notify you if you become eligible at a later time.     I'm a bit taken back as none of this is true. So where did they get this information? They wont tell you. I let them know that they have incorrect data and should look a bit deeper into my account as they have lent me quite a bit of Capital in the past. They have no explanation...

    Terrible, terrible customer support & service. STAY FAR FAR AWAY! If you are reading this, please heed my advice and stay away from Square and their payment processing business. Like many of reviewers, we were basically scammed. They decided to deactivate my account basically at will and tie up 20+ thousand dollars of my customers funds without issuing an immediate refund. They said it may take up to 90+ days to refund my customer's funds and basically shut down my processing business for a week plus for me to figure out another payment strategy.     I have been receiving notices from Square.com seeking recovery of $318.83 in funds for a disputed amount from a customer whose money they held without cause after purchase of some computers for 90 days. They never paid me the money because since then the money supposedly has been held by Square. I told the customer to recover their money via their bank dispute over the funds. Square still had not paid this person their money. Now they are asking me to payout from I never received as a payout from Square.

    Square was suppose to distribute or payout the money after 2 or 3 days into my account. So far, the money has never been paid out to me (my bank) and Square is sending me recovery notices for money they never processed or paid out to me. Where did the customer's money go? It is such a small amount that it seems logical that an employee is stealing people's money. I never received a payout of the funds from Square.

    Dishonest processing solution with zero customer service-I signed up a new account with Square. I processed my first order for $1,995.00 thru online invoicing. My account was completely verified, banking connected, and my personal credit card. The payment processed and the deposit was scheduled. Before the deposit was made, Square put a "hold" on the funds in my account. They emailed me, (no call or customer support), that my account was associated with an old account that I had with them 3 years ago. There was a charge back from 3 years ago, that I was unaware of. As a result the money in the account was seized. I acknowledged the oversight on our part, and agreed for them to collect that money so the matter is resolved. They agreed that we would move forward.

    The next day I processed another new client through online invoicing in the amount of $1,995.00. The client paid and the invoice and the payment hit my Square account. Just before the money was to be deposited in my bank account, Square sends me another auto generated email requesting verification. I provided company bank statements, business filings from the state of Florida, a signed contract from a client, anything that they needed to support the legitimacy of my business. 2 hours later I received an email stating they have closed my account and the money in the account that was just paid would have to stay there for 90 days for it to process.

    The email message stated the decision was final and they could not discuss the matter further. Needless to say, my week long ordeal with Square has been beyond any description of frustration. No one to talk to, discuss with, basically you can't do anything about it. I am going to voice this experience with every online review I can find. Square is a sorry excuse for customer service, customer relationship. They are a big, massive conglomerate that bully the little guy with no consequences. Run. There are better services that treat people like humans.

    I've been using Square for years. It's dependable, easily accessible, simple to use and has updates that let you keep accurate reports. Remember, only people with negative things to say leave reviews. So few leave good things. Well, here's a good thing. I use it. I love it. I've never had any problems with installation, managing it, or the quick bank transfers. I recommend Square.

    Stay far away! They took my money after I processed my payments from my customers and then declined my account after allowing me to process the credit cards, then they told me I had to wait 3 months to get my money back.

    I opened the account in 2014, ran few charges and then continued with my own PayPal. Recently I came across Square and decided to give a shot. I had to provide all my business information and so on which was ok. Then I got an email that congratulations you are ready to do business. So I started directing all my sales from PayPal to Square for processing and I like their option that appeared INSTANT DEPOSIT, with PayPal I can withdraw up to $400 or simply transfer to my bank. I have been doing business with PayPal for 17 years.

    Square is kind of shaky business. Each time we wanted to close our shift and pushed the INSTANT DEPOSIT, one went through fine and the next shift couldn't use the instant deposit to close the shift. Then I got a message account is under review. My transaction weren't big at all. $20 to $250. They don't want you to use INSTANT DEPOSIT, option is there, they will make an extra 1% off of you. I tried setting my deposits for the next day. Ran few charges and same again. Didn't see any money in my account and again account went under review.

    I called their customer service and complained about the way my account goes into review almost every 8 hours and no hitch with PayPal. First they don't like to hear anything about competition. They run a ** camp in Square. Rude customer service. If you have an accent then you are screwed. Customer service said my account looks good, no chargeback and no other issues and said to wait til the next day. So I saw the INSTANT DEPOSIT option available and wanted to use the option given and as soon as I click on INSTANT DEPOSIT button the message said my account went under another review.

    This time I called back and complained to the customer service saying how can I run a business with a system like this and told her I work 40 minutes away from Square headquarters and not some guy from some doggy town in Ukraine. I am from here and so my business and I have provided my sales, bank account was verified and linked and why am I being reviewed. She said she will ask review to fix this issue. I told her if the INSTANT DEPOSIT is not good then maybe it shouldn't be available for users at least for first couple of years until they feel a little safe.

    Hoping to see my issue resolved, instead I got an email saying my account has been deactivated and all funds will be frozen for the next 90 days. Tried to reach customer service but you can not talk to them if your account is shut off. They won't pick up the phone. Very bad business, I am sure they won't last if they are going to treat legit businesses like bunch of criminals. I whisked there was a rating with negative numbers too so I could go below negative 1 star on complete 000000. If you are in the business, Square is not for you and believe me some reviews that give them few stars, soon they will be coming to this page and write their own negative reviews. Since I didn't want any funds to be held, I logged in and refunded those transaction and re-process them with my PayPal account. Square is the worst processing system I have ever known.

    I used the Square payment system for the first time. I registered my details with Square. All good, that's what I was thought. My payment was taken from the customer with my Square device. I never got my payment sure. I had wait 5 days for my details to appear to link with my bank. I waited no money. I contacted Square CRS. They told me I had 2 accounts setup. My one and another which had none of my personal information. You think they would help me. I got refuse, I ask about my money, nothing they could do, they have decided told hold it for themselves. I now have get the client to reclaim the money from Square as Square CRS want to keep it. Careful with CSRs. They're really sneaky. Don't use SQUARE.

    We have been in business for over 15 years as a wholesale and retail company of hemp and organic products. We do not sell anything illegal despite working with hemp-based products. All of our products have been verified by the Australia, US and Canadian Governments as legal products containing no illegal substances. We sell bed linen, skincare, cold pressed oils and fibres. Earlier this year we decided to move away from the EFTPOS machine provided by our bank and set up an account with Square.

    In early April we set up the account after purchasing several readers for our showroom and market stalls. After having great success with it, especially at a trade fair this past weekend, I received an email from Square saying they had deactivated our account because our business is prohibited by the Seller Agreement. Having an idea what it might be about I called and spoke to Seamus who was really very sweet to talk to, despite the horrible discussion we were having.

    We sell hemp. Even though it is a legal product in the eyes of the Australian Govt. and FDA and contains nothing illegal, Square, working on behalf of their agreements with MasterCard, Amex and Visa have chosen to deactivate our account. It is so infuriating to be completely stuck right now. Here we were, supporting the little guys as they are supporting small business and they have completely stuffed us up. What upsets me is that when I inquired to why they didn't deactivate us straight away back in April (it's now almost June) they said they were alerted by a Facebook post where a customer had shown an image of food they had created by the LEGAL cold pressed oils that we retail. If you are a small business that is trying to make a difference in the world DO NOT sign up with Square. We are stuck now because we have customers wanting to process payments with no payment machine to accept it on.

    If you are thinking of starting a business and using Square as your quick grab merchant services, you might want to read this. We started our business relationship with Square in October of 2015. Our industry is a little touchy (vape/e-cigarette) so we made our business activities clear to Square and to make sure they were willing to process our payments. The representative said he would check, after a brief pause he stated he had addressed the concern with his supervisor and assured us that we would be fine to use their services. Great! Not so great - here we are strapped with a permanently disabled account citing a violation of their policy. Here's where it gets fun. We received no warning, no phone call, just an email of telling us when our account has been disabled. Let me try on some level to put this nightmare into perspective for you.

    Our Square account was disabled on or about 3:30 this afternoon. Shortly after the phone starts ringing with customers who are trying to access our site and can't. It is now 6:40 p.m. and the phone is still ringing! We have ZERO access to a live representative to assist us with this issue, and no means of processing credit cards for our online customers until we get a new service in place. At the very least they could have given us a grace period to review and implement a new service so we wouldn't have service issues with our customers. This is by far, hands down, the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with! I don't even want to discuss the thousands of dollars we have processed through this company and this is how they treat their customers? That's my experience for today.

    Now, let's talk about the overall, keep in mind there is never a live representative available to assist you on any level. If you need customer service you will be at the mercy of what I can only assume is the two employees who run this racket, via email and that's it! If you are lucky and I mean very lucky you might get a phone call if the issue warrants their personal attention. However, in most cases you will be treated like a number in the email queue at best. The site crashes often and when I say often it's in the upwards of two to three times per month. You have to ask yourself how many sales are you missing due to these crashes? These "blackouts" if you will, last for hours at a time and generally during the normal business hours that your customers would be visiting your site to purchase products.

    Let's move on to the fees these crooks charge, and keep in mind the only reason we tolerated this level of abuse is because we thought they were one of the companies who were willing to work with the vape industry. The fees will leave you with the feeling a small financial rape has occurred. Mastercard's fees are less offensive. If you are looking for a hands off, pull the rug out from under you with zero notice, and to be charged into the stone-age, then I strongly suggest you select Square for all of your financial abuse. My last and final regret is I am forced to leave a one star review simply because giving a negative star is not an option.

    Stay away from Square. Their name/brand is popular however that's about it. When you're a new merchant of theirs and you sell big ticket items - transactions will be limited and/or your funds placed on hold for 90 days...meaning you may have already shipped out items to your customers but you can't get the funds due to Square placing a hold on it. Also they freeze accounts when you have a high surge of sales (i.e. you decided to have a flash sale, or heavily discounted special sale on items) in which the increase or surge in sales or purchase amounts are higher than normal activity for your business, your account get suddenly frozen and customers can no longer purchase from your site/store and you're left looking unprofessional - scrambling for a replacement card processor. Stay away from Stripe payment processor too... They'll do the same thing to you. I'm done with Square and Stripe.

    I had an employee in charge of setting up my account. We run tens of thousands of dollars through Square a month sometimes and never had an issue. Until that employee left, I had some theft in the office and I want to change my bank account and Square won't let me because I'm not the account owner. I have almost $10,000 sitting in undeposited funds with them and they are NOT "allowed" to discuss with me because I am not the account owner!! I'm the business owner! This is my bank account, my money!

    Their CSR's are rude. They don't let you speak to a manager or supervisor and basically told me they couldn't help me. So I'm just supposed to kiss $10K away? I will be changing companies the minute I can get my money and will not recommend Square to anyone. Their fees are too high anyways and they are absolutely irresponsible with people's accounts.

    We are VERY disappointed with Square. We logged in one day to find that our account had been deactivated. No notice was sent and when I emailed them, they responded with "We reviewed your account and found that your business is prohibited by Section 4 of the General Terms and Section 3 of the Payment Terms, which means we cannot process payments related to your business." I responded with "I reviewed the sections you referred to and did not see anything that relates to us. Please give me specific information as to why this decision was made." Their final response was "Our decision to deactivate your account is final. Our Terms of Service outlines specific account types and processing patterns that we are unable to support, and your account matches one or more of these conditions. I'm unable to address this with you any further, as I've shared all the information I can provide."

    It was shocking to have this happen, and based on their responses, I'm thankful they dumped us or it may have gotten much worse, like some of the comments I just read where they withdrew funds they weren't entitled to. I believe a duplicate charge that then needed refunding may have led to our deactivation but I sure don't understand why since we had money available to deduct it from, there was no delay at all! The way Square gathered (or rather NOT gather) information about the person donating was awful and the dates didn't match up so we about pulled our hair out. We are switching to Anedot and it appears to do what is needed and we've already seen a vast improvement in customer service.

    Our business has used Square for several years to process any credit card payments we accept. Recently we accepted a payment of $3,900 from a client and square will not release funds due to pending verification of my business. Mind you as I stated we have been with Square for several years, why all of the sudden they need to verify my business! Called customer and that was a very unpleasant experience. The gentleman I spoke to was rude and explained that Square does this to businesses randomly. I asked why they did not do this in the beginning and he stated they make it easier for businesses to get started accepting credit cards.

    Well you're sure not making it easy now by holding almost four thousand dollars of my money hostage! At the me of our conversation the gentleman hung up on me and said he would send an email so I can cancel my service and ask for a refund. Still haven't received that email. I will never use Square again and advise anyone else not to. I'm switching to Chase bank for all my credit card processing.

    I used Square for 2 years with no problems until January 2017 when I received two disputes. I was out of town and didn't get the email for one of the disputes until it was too late and they would not insure the charge of $280. They took that money out of my account. They asked for a receipt for the transaction which I did not have. I was using my Square e-mail notifications as my receipts thinking that their system was secure. Big mistake. The person charging their card even signed their name on the space provided on my phone, but the dispute still did not go in my favor. The customers excuse was that they could not remember charging their card. In other words; anyone can claim any reason for a dispute and if you don't have a physical backup receipt, you're screwed. This was never disclosed to me.

    A friend of mine who is a golf instructor told me about Square. He had been using it for years and never once gave physical receipts out. He always used his email notifications that showed the charge, the date, the amount and the time stamp thinking that was proof. Square never told me I had to have a physical receipt back up, so I got screwed big time. When I went to look at my dashboard, the system kept loading and I have never been able to get into it. What a waste! The entire system is a scam! You asked me for an order number? There is none but I cut and pasted what I was sent;

    "Thank you for your patience during the resolution process. We challenged the $240.00 payment dispute on your behalf. Unfortunately, your customer's bank has resolved the case below in your customer's favor. Dispute Reason: Credit requested for charge. Disputed Amount: $240.00. Payment Amount: $240.00 Receipt. Payment Date: January 6, 2017 12:36 PST. Payment Card: Visa."

    Nowhere on the homepage does it state one cannot use the Square card reader outside of Australia so after I was told by a tech savvy friend Square was now in Australia (I'd been waiting since 2014 when I heard about them in the US on a speaking tour), I purchased one prior to doing talks in the UK to take book sales via my phone.

    When the online ID verification wouldn't accept my details I called their customer service & found this out by accident. Instead of acknowledging they had failed to provide all the facts about the limitations of their device on the homepage of their website I encountered an arrogant young man who responded, “Not everyone wants to know that info so why should we display it?” And continued to defend that the company has no obligation to supply that information to prospective users. The imitation Apple packaging was impossible to open without destroying it so now I have to try & get a refund from the store where I purchased it.

    These people are crooks! They took over 1,500 out of my account, froze my bank account, then they terminated me and told me I could get my money back in 90 days and now will not even accept my calls!! Stay away from this scam company as they stole my money with no reason why. No one could explain why they took my money. They just said that there was suspicious activity when the only suspicious activity was them taking my money and then they freeze your account, followed by they terminate your account and make it so you can't even call! No major company treats their customers like this and is still in business is all I know. It's just a matter of time before they are fined, penalized, or sued for the way they are scamming people.

    I have been using squareup.com credit card processing for over 5 years, and swiped thousands of dollars worth of credit cards without complaint until now. They have taken over $500.00 out of my account for appointment scheduling service that I NEVER signed up for and NEVER used. Not only did I wait on hold for 45 minutes but was transferred 4 times, when someone finally gets on the phone and say our appointments representative gets the "last say". They could see the program was NEVER used. Think they refunded me my money? Nope. Pay attention to all account deposits and settings!!! Shady business.

    Square will cancel your account and close it and they will not tell you why!!! They refer you to Section 36 that states that they hold the right to cancel your account without notice and will not tell you why. Do not use them. Use Shopify instead. They are better. Their customer service is 24/7 and they do take care of you. Square customer service also are really rude. Businesses do not trust Square!!!

    I am a current customer of Square and been a user since 2014. Never had issues with them to the point where I stop using their services. Recently I did have an issue to where I was being charged interest for a loan that I never received but after contacting Square through email and by phone the situation was fixed. Square refunded our money that was lost and we were back to business.

    We used Square Credit Card Processing for approximately 2 years without a hitch. It seemed almost as if our account was targeted and targeted by Square themselves. One day we had processed a single transaction but when we checked the "dashboard" of our account there were 3 charges pending. Upon further investigation our account number had been charged to a bank in another state. I immediately attempted to contact Square only to find out that their customer service was virtually nonexistent. All I could do was to send an email and wait for a response. The response came three days later. Luckily we were able to process a refund to our customer. However there was no stopping these charges on credit card numbers that belonged to people we did not know, did not make and had no idea where they came from or where the money was going to. Square was totally unhelpful and just said that they would do their own investigation.

    Meanwhile we had to close our account with our bank to stop any further transactions with Square. As it turned out that proved to be the smart move because they attempted to charge our account to recover these funds. When we did some reading on the internet we found that this was a common occurrence with other businesses that used Square. Why they don't have a bad reputation, I don't know. We should have researched the company much more before we decided to trust them with any financial transactions. The lack of customer service, no way to contact them by phone and then the attempt to charge us for the bogus charges. I would warn all consumers using or considering using Square to look elsewhere. And check to see what kind of customer service is available should you have a problem.

    Processing thousands of dollars thru their accounts. Whenever there's a problem if you ask the customer service reps name and ID they will talk to you like trash then hang up the phone on you. Happened twice in one day. If you ask to speak with a Manager they will tell you that they can't connect you to a manager. They can only have one call you back. Also they will give advice like "If Square isn't working for you then you should go somewhere else."

    I've used Square for the last 3 years during an event I operate. Initially, we chose Square solely on the fact that they offer a robust POS application for free if you're using them for processing. Pretty good deal when you're on a very tight budget. They live up to their claims of being able to deposit into your account within 24 hours, we've never had an issue with that. The only problem I have with them is that their rate is pretty high. The POS system trade off is good, but if my event continues to grow I don't know that I'll be able to swallow the size of the fees incurred.

    The limits to me are more that it is hard for people to trust or believe that it is a legitimate and viable method of portable payment. The fees are mostly worthwhile if you have a bulk of transactions especially those which are substantial enough to offset the expenses to profit from. The customer service is a little trick and I recommend paying attention to time zones and business hours. Phoning is likely less successful than online customer service/support. The variety and out-of-the-box functionality of Square is amazing. It is great to be up and running in under an hour, actually more like 15 minutes.

    I think they are fine. I've only used Square to make purchases and I wasn't aware that it had limits. I've used it to make purchases mostly at the beauty salon. I didn't have to pay a fee to use it. I have only been on the consumer end of Square. As a consumer it's great. I have been fortunate enough to never need to contact customer service for anything during the time that I used Square. As a consumer I was always satisfied with my purchase. As I have only been a customer I have not accessed very many features of Square so I am very satisfied with the variety that they offer me to tip along with my purchase.

    The recent changes to the monthly limits are the best thing that they could have done. It makes me very happy and has pushed them into my preferred payment solution. I find the fees to be very competitive. They are fair and are quite low. I happily pay them as they are well worth the service that I receive. They offer high-quality customer support. The representatives know their products very well and are always cheerful and happy to answer any questions. I find that they offer all of the solutions that I need. They have enough solutions to make choosing the right one for my business was easy and straightforward.

    Monthly limits are reasonable to the average consumer. I cannot see anyone spending more in a month. They charge for reasonable things and they do not add on mysterious fees like some other companies. Customer support is always friendly and welcoming. They try to help you with any questions you may have without transferring you to another customer representative. Not too much variety to choose from, but the few choices I do have are enough to cover any concerns I may be having.

    2.75% is not really a bad discount rate. And your money's there in a couple of days. The chargeback time is in line with other and reading services so l do not really have any complaints. It's generated more business and that offsets any limits to me. 2.75% is average. Chargeback Protection is free for all Square merchants and covers eligible chargebacks up to a total of $250 a month. 3.5% plus 15 cents for charges on cards that don't have a chip... I got 0 complaints. Customer support is there when you need them and they are helpful and courteous and will spend the time it takes to resolve your questions or problems. Now they are offering Apple pay which definitely gives you an advantage on the competition! It allows me to take any charge my customers have wanted to use.
