    I received an Amex gift card from my boss and tried at least 6 online purchases and one in-person (Nordstrom) purchase. Declined every single time. The $250 balance was being whittled away by $0.10 charges every time the merchant tried to apply the card. Worst gift card ever. The second time I called AmEx customer service, I asked to speak to a manager, who offered to refund my full amount via USPS in the form of a check that will be sent to me within 3 weeks. The manager who assisted me the second time I called. Was very kind and apologetic.

    I bought $330 AMEX gift card. Soon as I activate it somebody used it in another state in a glasses store. When I call the customer service of American Express they did not do anything for me. I just lost my money in a second bad customer service, so if you want to lose your money go buy gift card from any store and get ready to lose the money right away. When I went back to CVS the store they said it’s not the first time. The scammer somehow steal the serial number when the card is still brand new on the shelf and then they have a way to know when you buy this card from CVS and put money in it soon as you activate it, they have a way to take your money in American Express. Stand with the scammers. They not going to help you to get your money back. All you gonna hear from them. "We are so sorry. We are so sorry. We are so sorry. Get ready to hear sorry 100 times.

      Received Gift Card from a family member. Couple months later went to use it and was denied payment. A month earlier the card was used to buy something from Victoria's Secret leaving only 5 cents on the card. Reported it and was told they would send a new card and reverse the charge. Got the new card and still has only 5 cents on the card. Called customer service and they tell me Victoria's Secret refund the money. Not worth the aggravation they put you through. Find another gift card vendor.

      Used my Amex card for a rental car deposit. It took 5 days for the pending deposit to fall off of the online app. And then, the deposit was refunded on my paper statement which showed the funds available. However, the funds were not available on the app and my transactions were denied. Representative said the funds would not be available for 7-10 days. I won't be using Amex to fund deposits of any type in the future. Get some consistency between paper and electronic!

      They promised $10,000. One little thing they drop my lending to $2,900 without warning. They also hold the fact I have other debt. Shame on them. They soccer customers. Worse than payday lenders. If I could give 0 rating I would.

      We purchased $30k worth of gift cards for our employees. Several cards were used before we even opened the Fed Ex box they were mailed in. This is an internal fraud with AMEX and they hold zero accountability. The cards are not necessary to purchase gas, Amazon purchases, Wallet transfers etc. The numbers are stolen off of the cards and used before customers receive them. No more gift cards for us.

      I have 50 dollars card and open it 10/22. Tried to call Amex phone number and told my balance is 5 dollars. What's going on, I need to call customer service. I can't expect big scam from a reputed company like Amex.

      Recently Amex is expanding into so many markets and it's losing the connection to the customer. :( I been for very long time with Amex and usually support and products are 5 Stars. Recently Amex bought or partnering with Kabbage Business Checking which is not bad but lot of bugs in their system and app. Few months later now they offer competing product Amex Business Checking which is a nightmare. Support is very unhelpful once you have problems with your application they are very unhelpful to resolve it and getting easy annoyed if you try to get an explanation.

      I can only assume they are so secretive because I am already a Kabbage customer so they don't want competing customers between their own products. :( Seems like Amex is bit lost, offering all similar product, I remember few years ago they had their business loans under Amex Brand now, Kabbage, then again Amex Business Checking. Just confusing and upsetting their long term customers! Found my happiness with Discover checking, all USA based support and no games played there!

      I purchased a gift card and found out that someone scammed me and I immediately called Amex but it took so long to get to customer service to answer that they had already zeroed out my balance. When I started my call I still had a full balance but by the time customer service finally got on the phone It was gone. I was on hold for so long that that they had gotten all my money then stated there was nothing they could do. Thanks a lot Amex.
