I purchased a lease on a 2023 Hyundai Venue in February of 2023. After driving only 7k miles the radio died. It is tied to an on-screen navigation system and the remainder of the navigation was fine - just no radio. Then at 9k miles the transmission went out. Stuck in one gear. At this point it was undrivable. We called local service dept and they claimed that due to massive recalls they were 3 - 4months out. They recommended a larger dealership which was 22 miles distance. We had the car towed. The warranty was denied on the transmission when they claimed it was due to "rodent" damage. Really? I guess the transmission was wired? Oh and the towing was denied because it was "2" miles beyond their 20 mile limit.
It continues..... the radio they could not repair for another 2 months waiting for some "tech" specialist.... and we were told that the inspection charge will be $150! Needless to say, I could not be more unimpressed with an auto dealer. I have leased cars from Toyota & Nissan for over 20 years and never had to pay for a service other than new tires. If there was any way that I could return this vehicle and exit the 3 year lease - I would do it, but I realize they would screw me even further. Be warned.... Hyundai claims "Best warranty in the business". DO NOT FALL FOR THAT!!

Hyundai Dealer of Tinley Park Il, does not disclose everything. When called upon to speak to management they ignore you, when asked to speak with general manager still no call back been going on 3-4 weeks. Dealership needs a reality check on how their service truly is and it starts from the top management. I have learned that if he doesn't take the initiative to contact a paying customer, then how do you think is management team will do the same. Love the car, dealership service is Horrible far as the management Team.

I purchased a Santa Fe a few years ago and the motor seized up a year after. Thankfully it was still under warranty and it was covered. I purchased a Palisade immediately following this incident and purchased the extra premier wrap secure net warranty with it. I’m already having electrical issues with this one and a brake light isn’t working due to the issues.
I’m now in a situation where I have only 65k miles on this vehicle and dealing with possibly several thousand dollars out of pocket because both the dealership and the warranty center are claiming that the internal electrical issues are not covered in my so called bumper to bumper warranty. The warranty is a 100,000 mile - bumper to bumper warranty that cost me an extra $1850. They’re asking me to spend $350 for the first fix and if that doesn’t work, they have to replace an electrical hub from the main part of the vehicle which they say will cost “thousands." DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY and don't waste your money on secure net warranties. It's a waste of money. I’m thankful that this happened now as we were just about to purchase a Kona for my son. I’ll never buy a Hyundai again.

Nonstop problems with this vehicle, my engine blew up on the highway then on July 6th, 2023 my Hyundai was broken into, stolen, and damaged due to the anti-theft issue. I went to the Hyundai dealership in Janesville, Wisconsin all the people are rude and disrespectful and had me waiting lying saying my car was safe to drive when a noise was coming from the tire. I will never get another Hyundai in my lifetime. They owe me 4,255 worth of money for the damages on my car and my insurance went up because this unprofessional company. My case manager has not reached out to me! Unprofessional company ever!!!

Have a top of the line Tucson. Will NEVER buy again. Have it one year and dashboard messages don't work, why? Hyundai says it needs a software update for the GPS and the dealer charges $270. Guess their warranty covers very little. If I had been informed about this upfront, I would not have purchased the vehicle. Getting nickel and dimed is such a poor way of doing business.

These people will take 30 to 40 minutes before they even start the call a tow truck. You’re out there waiting for 2 to 3 hours because this company is inefficient. The management does not know what they’re doing when you call you have to tell them who you are everything about your car. They can’t keep everything tracked. It’s just poor management that doesn’t improve the company. Just there to collect a check. Because of this, I will never buy another Hyundai again.

I decided to get the Hyundai Venue 2020 in November of 2020. The car ran well, was brand new, and seemed fairly reliable. This year at just under 40,000 miles the car’s transmission started having issues while I was traveling on the highway with my minor child. The car started to decelerate to 40 then 30 mph on a major interstate highway 1.5 hrs into my trip. I had a warranty that covered towing to the nearest dealership but after hours of waiting no tow came and the roadside assistance staff didn’t tell me until the last minute. I ended up spending over $700 for a tow and Lyft to get me and my child home.
I later found out from the nearest dealership the issue with my car had to do with a recall for the DCT clutch which causes the vehicle’s transmission to go out but the recall included most Hyundai modes from 2021 to 2023. I had a national representative look into getting my car fixed and reimbursement for my the inconvenience. I wasn’t given a car to travel around with although rental coverage was part of my plan and ultimately spent 3 weeks without my vehicle, had to pay Lyft and Uber fees to travel and get my vehicle back. I was advised on a recorded call with the national representative I would be reimbursed for my travel, tow, as well as a payment/credit for my car’s monthly bill. I was only afforded a reimbursement of my Tow after 6-7 weeks and was never credited my car payment. I will never get another Hyundai and wouldn’t refer anyone to this car company.

Hyundia customer care service is the worst. First off, the dealership has had my car for 2 months. Going on 3 months. Once they gotten the engine approve to be replaced, I was told that it would take about 9 months almost a year. Well the nice lady at the dealership gave me customer care number to speak to someone, so that I could learn the process. I called, customer care the first day she gave me the number. When I did, they inform me that I had to file a case and said that my customer care number case manager should give me a call in 3-5 business days. Well, I called on the 6th day, because I hadn't heard from anyone. When I called the lady said that she will alert her that I haven't received a call.
Well as of today which is the 8th business day, I still haven't received a call from anyone. So, I decided to call, guess what the person who answered the call told me. "I see where we sent an alert for your case manager to call you. I can't send another one until after 3-5 business days." Shaking my head, it's called customer care. Please inform me where the care at, cause I'm definitely not getting any. I will never do business with them again. I wish I didn't have to give a star, because they don't deserve one.

We purchased a 2014 Santa Fe after having a Sonata for years. The engine's connecting rod bearing gave out. After doing research I found the company issued a recall. So after dropping the car off at the dealership for 2 months, they then inform me that they will not honor the recall due to previous owner maintenance records. That is after I gave them my paperwork for the maintenance I have done. They are a sketchy company to say the least.

Hyundai Kona 2020. This is a TERRIBLE car. Problems arose and we had to pay for things under warranty..it's again back at another dealer..I tried to deal with National Customer Service and all they say is "keep using warranty." Nothing but headaches running back and forth burning has and time all the while still having to pay the payment for it. The car, of course, is worth way less AT THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS ...so trade in even screws us! STEER CLEAR!!!!

My daughter's 2016 Sonata recently motor failed due an issue which is documented in a class action law suit. For 18 months, the car has been experiencing high oil consumption, 250 miles a quart. Her local dealer told her they needed to do an oil consumption test which we said ok to, but then they advised that she also needed to do a $1800 diagnostic and that there was no guarantees they would be able to help her.
Fast forward, driving down hwy, car just dies. I contact another dealer and explained the issue. Service advisor advised this was the symptom of the motor recall and to have it towed in. Dealer started to do the evaluation, had to replace the starter as the starter gears were sheared, but once they replaced the starter and got the vehicle to start, they had to rush and immediately shut it off. The response from the dealer was the noise from the lower end sound like a jackhammer which was so loud it scared customers in the waiting room. Dealer said no brainer, this is definitely a replacement due to the ongoing issue with this motor and that they had all they required to submit the claim. They have done several so they knew the requirements.
Two months goes by and I have heard nothing from the dealer, so I call and was informed that Hyundai denied the claim. Their reason, no maintenance records even though dealer provided all the required details and diagnostics results. I reminded the dealer that I provided them with oil change records, sitting on the front seat. Oops, we forgot says the dealer and they resubmitted the claim. Hyundai declined again and is refusing to reopen the claim.

Apparently the salesperson H.B. lied on my application, I didn't test drive the vehicle. I was so shocked I got approved after working 3 weeks. I was so happy I cried the whole time. I told him all funds I have 900.00 that's all. He got me financed. Mrs. ** asked me if I like my new car. I felt stupid however, I said, "Ma'am, I can't tell you what color it is or what it is..." I'm still stuck crying because I'm in disbelief. I know I have no credit. 3 weeks later finance is taken back. Credit ran 50+ times. I did not know until I felt I had to turn the car back and reached out to a buy here pay here lot...
The gentlemen said, "Miss Jamel they did you in. You have 50 plus inquires on your credit. No one will touch you." They found new financing. I make my first payment. Car breaks down soon after... June 1st. Spent over 400.00 having this car towed in one weekend. Then 17.00 to 27.00 Lyft 6 days a week since June 1st. I have called several times just to be brushed off. One call back... However the sympathy given from a service hand was basically "oh and you didn't get the warranty. You can get it towed in... And we will fix it at a lower price", that's not an option... No call back.. My management/customer service/finance background told me everything I was going through was completely wrong. I was told by everyone to contact an attorney. That is not my intention to slander a company because of a few weak links. I just wanted somebody to explain to me for what reason should I not be upset about this major purchase failure/investment!

My car recently seized while I was 4 hours away from home. After doing some research, I found there was a campaign 966 that involves knock sensors and a software update. I had it towed to the local dealership (where it still remains) and I am being told that this massive company cannot help my situation. I still have a loan on the vehicle, I always provided regular maintenance and feel like I am just a little person who has bought MANY Hyundai vehicles in the past and am totally getting screwed. I intend to contact every avenue (social media, corporate offices, etc) until this situation is rectified. This campaign should have been a recall and I should have been contacted. I may just be another little person who purchased your vehicle but I am about to make big noise for your company.

I purchased my first Hyundai ever (a 2023 Hyundai Kona EV) on 12/8/2022 at Colonial Hyundai of Downingtown in Downingtown Pennsylvania. I have been driving Subaru for the past 16 years and was nervous but excited about my new fully electric car. I initially loved this car so much. It was definitely a different driving experience with a learning curve and I was very open to the new experience.
Unfortunately, things started going wrong within weeks of owning the car. By early January (less than a month into owning the car) the heat literally STOPPED WORKING, In January, I live in the NORTHEAST. I brought it to the dealership (where the service manager Mark was a totally rude, miserable, and disrespectful employee) where they attempted to fix it but were not able to get it working properly. At this point I had also mentioned a few other strange electrical abnormalities such as Bluetooth connectivity drops and lights, wiper glitches. They restarted the main computer and these seemed to improve.
On April 7th 2023 I brought my car in for its 5000 mile service. I again mentioned that the heat was not working. The manager told me that he had no one on staff that knew how to work on electric vehicles and that he “didn’t know what to tell me” while he was waiting for someone in the local area that would know how to service the car and potentially repair it. They were never able to figure it out.
After 3 full weeks of no resolution and driving a huge SUV that was lent to me by Hyundai and putting $70.00 in gas a week I asked for some sort of option to get out of the current car and into another EV since according to Mark the service manager at Colonial Hyundai told me that my heat issue was only the 2nd instance of this ever happening with the Kona EV. Dave ** (who is undoubtedly the most honest, sincere and trustworthy employee at Colonial Hyundai) helped me tremendously by helping to get me into a brand new Kona EV.
I ended up with a slightly higher payment which I am not happy about since it kills me to be paying over $620.00/month for car that does not work, I made a car payment on a car that I didn’t even have for a month, seriously? BUUUUUTTTTTTT, day 2 of owning that car, the HEAT DOESN’T WORK IN THIS ONE EITHER. I was told that all of a sudden this was a known problem and the heat system is causing an electrical short and the engineers at Hyundai are working on a replacement part to finally fix the heat. This was more than two weeks ago. I knew that going from owning a Subaru to owning a Hyundai was a downgrade but I never in a million years thought that the car would be of such poor quality and that the service and treatment by employees of Hyundai would be so deplorable.
I have not even mentioned that the salesperson (Zack **) who would not even be working there if his mommy and daddy didn’t work at the dealership, lied to me, messed up paperwork, tried to pressure me into buying when I was still trying to figure out financing. This has been an absolutely horrible experience from beginning to date. I am hard pressed to believe that this is the type of experience you want for your owner or any type of publicity you would want for future owners, but I am seriously at my wit’s end. I am about to find new financing because I literally don’t even want Hyundai to make interest off of my payments. What do you plan to do for your EV owners experiencing this issue? How can you sell Kona EV’s and not have any technicians at dealerships to service them. And guess what? They did nothing- told me that they would do nothing after selling me 2 brand new 2023 cars with no heat- do not buy from Hyundai

I joined a friend on her car buying trip to College Station Hyundai, and while everyone we encountered that day was beyond pleasant, the follow up experience has been awful. As we were about to leave with her new car, we discovered that the Apple car play USB port didn’t work and was in fact pushed back into the dash. A few salespeople (NOT service people) attempted to pull this piece open to fix it but weren’t able to (although damaged some of the plastic in the process). They then told us to go ahead and drive back to Austin as no one from service was available and that it would be an easy fix for the dealership in Austin.
Long story short, apparently this isn’t as easy of a fix as they said or Hyundai’s service department is so wildly overrun that they don’t have time for a simple fix and her little apple car play problem remains un-fixed. Not only that, but College Station has stopped responding after initially trying to be so helpful and Hyundai corporate will no longer help her because she made a complaint. Not only would I not suggest this dealership, I wouldn’t suggest Hyundai in general as they don’t seem to put a lot of value in customer service.

Our daughter's Hyundai Tucson engine died at barely 50k miles and I had to have the car towed to one dealership who diagnosed the issue as a warranty/faulty engine issue, however, they couldn't get to it for 4-5 months due to their backlog of engine issues. I then had the car towed to another Hyundai location 50 miles away and they were able to perform the repairs and get the car back to us in less than 2 weeks, total engine replacement - covered under factory warranty (we also had a 3rd party extended warranty). Problem is - I spent about $500 between the tow and the initial diagnosis and Hyundai is telling me refunds can take up to 120 days. 120 days? That's 6 months for those of you keeping score. WTF?
So your product sucks and inconveniences a customer for 2 weeks and you can't get a refund out the door in less than 30 days? This tells me all I need to know about this manufacturer. Not to mention, the first Hyundai dealership charged me a diagnostic fee that would have been waived had I left the car there for 4-5 months and allowed them to fix it. But because I wanted a more reasonable repair time and had it towed to another dealership, this is why they HAD to charge me the fees. Please, please, consider these things before investing in a Hyundai. There had to be a catch to the "great warranty" ...

She has missed work and no one can’t seem to fix the problem or give her a rental car. She spoke with a supervisor name, Andrew and he was very nasty and disrespectful. He told her to go complain to Consumer Affairs, and showed no concerned about her almost getting into an accident. He also told her that they don’t have rental cars for cars like Hyundai only BMW luxury cars. How do you work at Hyundai in downgrade your own cars? Racism at its finest.
I’ve seen a lot of issues with Hyundai engines. Please reconsider buying a Hyundai. You will go through so much. Everyone that I know that has one has engine problems and Hyundai does not care if your life is on the line or if you lose your job because you don’t have transportation. While Hyundai's warranty promises seem compelling, my recent experience with my vehicle has left me disappointed. Despite having a 5-year, 60,000-mile warranty and a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty, my air conditioner stopped working at just 13,000 miles. I was told that in order to have it covered under the warranty, it needed to be repaired by an authorized dealer. However, no authorized dealer had an available appointment for at least a month, which was not feasible for me. As a result, I had to pay out of pocket to fix the issue. While they are in general decent cars, I am now on my 2nd Hyundai and both of them have required a new transmission after a few years. Even though they are fairly low-priced, the fact that there seems to be a guarantee that you will need to replace the transmission makes them more expensive to own. On top of that, Hyundai has set it up so that they can weasel out of covering you under warranty. I have bought both of my Hyundais used and when you buy them used, you only get the 60,000 mile warranty, not the 100,000 mile warranty that the original owner gets. It just seems like an easy way for them to get out of covering these large repairs that the car will seemingly inevitably need, especially given that approximately 80% of cars are the road were bought used. And that's not my estimate, that's from the bureau of labor statistics. I think they know that their cars have these issues and that's why they set it up that way.
Their customer service department is also frustrating to deal with. They just sort of repeat the same phrases over and over again rather than having any sort of actual conversation with you. They don't really seem to want to help - they just want you to go away. After dealing with this second transmission replacement (one on my first Hyundai and now one on my second), I will definitely not buy another Hyundai when this car dies. It's not worth the seeming guarantee that I'll have to get a new transmission.

1 year ago I found out that the oil gaskets were being recalled due to the issue that they were killing alternators so opened a reimbursement case. After 40 days they closed the case without any notice. I called the reimbursement department and they said I needed one additional document so I updated the case. This has now repeated 6 times. At the end of the last case they asked where they should send the check to and then closed the case without any notice. Every time the vehicle was given back to me a lot of new issues would pop up like the E-brake not working, or the Drive mode selector wouldn't change drive mode, the AutoStop feature almost made me get into an accident and the list goes on. As you can imagine I purchased this vehicle new and only one dealership has been servicing it. It's worth noting that I also have a 2019 Santa Fe Ultimate and not nearly the amount of issues (only the Blue Link Connectivity and the tailgate)
I believe the shop at the Jim Pattison Hyundai in Port Coquitlam, BC doesn't have qualified techs to work on this vehicle, and they pretty much ruined it. I can't prove that but if I am wrong like they suggest, then Hyundai made a Lemon. All of this happened when the vehicle was not 2 years old yet. I argued with the dealership and they agreed to buy the vehicle from us for a huge loss to us. I preferred to drive an unsafe vehicle that they didn't know how to repair. Given that the Extended Warranty had not kicked in, we asked the dealership for a credit on that as well and they told us that that would have to come from Hyundai Canada. I called Hyundai Canada several times and I keep being told someone would call me back but that they can not return the money back. I would not recommend you buy a Hyundai, I am now looking to sell my Santa FE as well. This company screws people with crappy vehicles and doesn't own up to their problematic vehicles.

I had to get permission from Hyundai finance to ship my car, and if it were up to them I would have never received my car. It would still be sitting in port, incurring a daily charge. I called them more than a month in advance to get the permission letter sent to my email that I needed. They said it would take a few days for them to get approved, and I was so busy with my move, I didn't think about it until I realized a week before I flew out that I never got it. I called to follow up. They said it was approved, but the letter was sent to an old address through snail mail for some reason, and they would resent it to my email.
They said it normally took 3 to 5 business days to send this email, but they would expedite it to send it to me in one day. It never came. I called again after 3 days, and they said the same thing. I only waited one day this time and called again and then one of the representatives was able to get it to me immediately. It came right to my email with no 1-5 day delay.
But, wait... there's more. They got the shipping reversed on the permission letter that came to me. They switched the departure and destination, which I don't know how they messed that up since we had to send all this documentation with the details of our move. The shipping company said we needed to get a new permission letter. I called Hyundai finance again and told them I needed it corrected ASAP or my car couldn't ship. They said they would have to resubmit the request, and it would take 3-5 business days but they would expedite it to one. It never came, again, despite calling every day to follow up. They said there was nothing more they could do for me and gave me an email to the people who actually approve it. I asked for a phone number, but they said they didn't have one to give to customers and they couldn't call them either.
Why in the WORLD they can't get in contact with their own people is beyond me. The day of the move came and I had no letter and not even a response to my email. The shipping company thankfully told us we could leave our car and just get the letter to us before the ship finished loading even though we had to fly out that day. We left it with them, hoping we would get the letter in time. A few days before the car was suppose to ship, I was constantly calling and the manager said he escalated the situation to corporate and that corporate would be calling me within a day or two to sort out the problem. They never called.
I called the supervisor again and told them they never called and that my car may not be able to ship at all and there would be repercussions if my car wasn't able to get to me because of their incompetence. I hung up the phone. Thank goodness the shipping company had mercy on us and could see it was the financers mistake that the letter was incorrect. They shipped our car without the proper permissions and to this day, a month later, I have not been contacted by corporate or received the corrected documentation. Love my car, but this was crazy stressful. Their incompetence baffled the mind.

**** 0 star **** Where to begin, I had an engine light issue back in December where the service advisor asked me to run the vehicle for fluid flush test they knew my engine needs to be replaced but they purposefully made me spend $700 for nothing. I did a follow up to check with their service team as per their request and still didn't fix the engine light issue.
My appointment is at 8 am I was there on time there was no vehicle in the lineup but made me wait till 9:30 am to let go of me as my car needs engine replacement. Worst case scenario they did not let me know until 4 pm on the same day where I had to call them and ask about my engine issue. I had to drop my car and get a rental as per Hyundai policy that was a separate drama where they want to get a rental vehicle next day at 8 am or evening 4 pm as they don't have any vehicle available. After a stern fight I got a rental vehicle on the same day. Mine is an SUV but they gave me a Sedan (Hyundai using Toyota as rental vehicle). They don't even trust their vehicle anymore, very funny.
When I dropped my car they said that they will update me with my ETA for engine within two days, as you guys guessed it already they did not follow up, I followed up for two days no response as Service team never answers the call and customer service just takes notes and never action on them. Finally I decided to go to dealership directly and inquire about the details personally, But the service manager refuse to speak with me, looks like he got appointment my foot, he was just chit chatting here and there and not ready to meet the customer. Finally I asked him to take my complaint then he said inform service advisor they will help me, they were back and forth rattling me. No resolution and service manager made a comment saying that "be glad that you have received a rental car and be happy with what you have got".
Why am I be happy to ride a Toyota sedan when I paid for Hyundai SUV so service manager re-assured that Hyundai is bad yet again. I raised a complaint to Hyundai Canada customer service team, they said they will talk to the dealer and ask the dealership to talk to me. 12 business days past still no call from the dealer. I called the customer care they said that Hyundai Cambridge assured to give a call back and we apologize for them not resolving this issue, and customer care refused to transfer my call to their supervisor where no intention to resolve this issue or my frustration, after all turmoil
I have called customer care again, they said case is still under resolution I will ask the dealership to call you. Sedan is giving me a back pain I have asked them to swap to SUV but Hyundai saying it's only car available we can't swap rental cars, if I wish to rent a car Hyundai won't cover the charges. I don't know where to escalate this issues. If the dealership owner reads this issue kindly take action to the necessary dept, if this continues you will be out of business.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. I have always enjoyed it, but have now been waiting to get it back for almost a month, since December 8, 2022 (today is 1-5-23) from Hyundai service in Gainesville, Fl. I took it in with brake and diagnostic issues. Turns out a service employee showed me I did not have it turned on correctly when I first took it in. (My bad). So diagnostic issues never actually existed.
I have called repeatedly, been told I would receive return call for status on my car, but did not. Have to say right away that each young adult customer service person I talked to was extremely polite, seemed concerned about my issues, and promised a manager would return my call. I received a return phone call a couple of times in the beginning, then it never happened again.
At one point I was told my car would be completed that night and they would call. Never received call, and still don't have car. At another time I was told that rats (from our yard) had been inhabiting and damaged my engine area and they would have to replace cables. That was a lonnng time ago. I have no idea if that was even true. I had to cancel a trip to visit family at Christmas, and have had to borrow son's car repeatedly. I was told there were no cars available for loan. Yesterday I called and asked for the head supervisor of the whole place. He was busy, but I was told he would return my call shortly. Never happened, of course.
I've never experienced such customer service and have to say, before December I had had good experiences with Hyundai service. I feel sympathy for the individuals who are told to give excuses and lies as to when a customer may expect their car. I would rather be told the hard truth, with updates instead of absolute lies. And have to say, I believe that their younger customer service employees will soon become sick of being forced to lie and make excuses and will start looking for a different employer. I know I would.

I then asked to put both my husband and I on the title since I needed my handicap plate transferred. I was denied again. In spite of this being illegal conversation from a sales person violating my rights we went ahead with the purchase. Also in spite of the knowledge that I needed the car adapted I was not informed about the mobility program. Fortunately their service department was excellent during my ownership once my car was adapted.
In May of this year we purchased a 2022 Palisade LE. We refused to give that dealership any business so we drove 3 hrs to one in Myrtle Beach that had the car in stock. Again no mention of the mobility rebate. I actually found out about it the following week for the first time as I was trying to find a new company to adapt my car. I submitted my paper work in July to Hyundai. In Aug I was told my purchase agreement was not included and I needed to resubmit it. According to my tracking the paper was received 7 days from the date of the letter.
Almost 3 months later and no response. I called and they said they do not have my paperwork. How is that possible since I have a letter saying you had everything but 1 page and the tracking number showing when I resent that page and that it was received. Nothing they can do. I need to resubmit. This all came after the first customer service rep had no idea what the mobility program was and hung up on me. I am beyond disappointed in this company's treatment of disabled people.
The salesman from Myrtle Beach did apologize to me but that really doesn't make up for the continue frustration the company causes people on a limited budget. Do not offer the program if you do not want to follow through. And nothing in the world can make up for the behavior and conversation from the first salesman in Jacksonville, NC. I would never recommend them to anyone considering purchasing a car. Also I was not able to make an appointment for my first free service. My brother in law died and I had to drive out of town. I ended up staying way longer than I planned to help my sister. I was told by more than 1 service department in the area I was at that time that they didn't care about my circumstances and they couldn't help. One even said listen lady just go pay for it somewhere else! Total disappointment

I've owned a few Hyundai vehicles now and have decided I will never buy another again. First off, I've always had trouble with their cheap electronics. The head unit screens going blank and not working until the car is completely off had been a problem with two different vehicles. The remote start is a predatory practice and not sure how they haven't got in trouble for it. Not only do you have to buy a subscription, you have to buy their basic package with the remote package which means $200 a year just to have remote start. ** Hyundai for doing that!
On top of that, when you remote start your blinkers go off and cannot be turned off. So if you remote start your car in the neighborhood at night, people stay looking out the windows to see what the flashing lights are. I've had neighbors ask me to stop remote starting because the flashing annoys them through the windows. They say it's for safety but that is a ** excuse. No other remote start out there had done that for me, it's just bad management and leadership at Hyundai and not listening to the customers. The one benefit of owning this car is growing such a hatred for the company that I know I will not but another.

Even though I had to call the 800 number to actually get my vehicle into the dealership last time, at least something was done. Here I am just several months later going through the same thing. I have tried to resolve the issue with at least five Hyundai dealerships in NJ and DE by calling and even taking off of work to just bring my vehicle in. They ALL had the same "we can't help you and don't know what to tell you" kind of attitude.
When a case was created, I was sent a "courtesy" email from Hyundai Consumer Affairs stating someone would be working on my case and I could expect to hear from them within 3-5 business days or sooner. That timeframe came and went with no word. I tried calling but kept getting an answering machine. When the person called back, I was asked if my issue had been resolved which was a ridiculous question being that NO ONE HAD CONTACTED ME AFTER THE COURTESY EMAIL.
I am at the point where I am going to have to take it to a local mechanic and come out of my pocket for something that is covered under the warranty and for a rental for who knows how long. I am not satisfied with my vehicle, not satisfied with where I purchased it from and I am most certainly not satisfied with Hyundai as a whole. My goal right now is to get rid of this vehicle as soon as possible and never deal with Hyundai again. I had to make 3 calls (20 min each), had to open a service ticket and wait a week for them to fail to resolve it. $200/year is WAY too much to spend on a remote start engine, and they require you to subscribe to the package "deal" full of features you don't want. Two months later we see stains in driveway and check coolant and it is near empty. We fill it up and I overheat again that evening and have to have it towed. The dealership tells me the cap on that coolant is off and why it happened. I agree that I may have not had the cap on tight enough and it came off but it had a leak and my spots on the driveway prove it.
So, they tell me with short staff that they have no time to look at it for a week, because I did not have an appointment. We have had 2 Hyundai in the family. 2012 Santa Fe Limited and 2017 Tucson 1.6L Turbo Limited. We our first car had a scary review that you can look up. People experienced engine knock then the engine would stall on the highway. We brought our Santa Fe in to check for this issue and we were lucky that our engine had been built correctly.
Our 2017 Tucson 1.6L has been a complete disaster and Hyundai has refused to fix it. The 1.6L is is crap engine in that it eats oil. One issue with engines eating oil is poor piston rings or faulty rings. In a Class Action Lawsuit in the USA, they found that this same issue was related to poor engine manufacturing and Kia and Hyundai agreed to replace the engines costing the company Billions. However, in Canada, Hyundai solution was to install a Knock Sensor in a few of their engines and ignore the rest of the engine. A knock sensor software update that is to help to let you know that your lower bearings are about to fail, and your engine will explode or even more dangerous, just shut off when you are on the highway. Hyundai stance is that since you are not in the USA, you should have to pay to fix your engine, or replace your engine which is the correct way to do this.
Hyundai does not seem to care about Canadians that have the same issues as Americans. I can not recommend the Hyundai brand because over the last 11 years, they have made some major engine flaws which in the end they want you to pay for it but in actuality, they should pay to replace a product they failed to make correctly. Out of all the brands, Hyundai would rather go to court than to help a customer. They would sell you a product the looks good on the outside, but the engine is not good and will cost you down the road. The fact that Hyundai now charges higher fees for their cars, didn't make them better at making engines but in fact, their engines are some of the cheapest quality engines built that not even their engineer were able to figure out that the engine would eat oil or destroy itself.

We purchased a 2018 Hyundai Tucson in July 2021. In June of 2022, the vehicle would not go in reverse. There were no warning signs and everything else had been functioning properly. After having a transmission expert with over 40 years of experience look at it, he explained that it was a "premature failure" of the transmission and that it would need to be replaced. We had the Tucson towed to the Hyundai dealership and they confirmed the bad news about the faulty transmission. Our Tuscon is 4 years old and has approximately 74K miles on it. It had 60,002 miles on it when we purchased it.
We called Hyundai Motor America and spoke with a general customer service representative who told us that the warranty covers 5 years and 60K miles, whichever comes first. The new transmission's cost was approximately $4,800 so we escalated our issue to a supervisor and then to a case manager. Our case manager, "Lenore", told us that they would cover 50% of the transmission as a "good faith gesture". We are under the 5 years but over the 60K miles for the warranty. We counter-offered and asked them to pay closer to 100% of the transmission. They denied that request and stuck with the 50% offer, which we eventually accepted.
Our case manager was not the best at communicating with us. We actually heard of the 50% offer from the service mechanic at the dealership before "Lenore" informed us about it. When we counter-offered, it took our case manager about one week or so before she would respond to us. I'm not sure if better customer service training is needed or what the actual issue is, but it would be a good start for the employees dealing with the consumers at HMA. From the time our transmission stopped working to the time we got our vehicle back, it was literally one month. My husband and I had to share our 12 year old trusty Nissan Rogue with 164K miles on it for 3 weeks before we could get a courtesy vehicle from the dealership.
We've definitely learned a lot during this ordeal, one of the most important lessons being to Google the vehicle and the year it was made to see what problems it has. We've also learned that Hyundai is one of the most unreliable vehicles out there on the market. Even the brand new 2022 Hyundai's have serious mechanical issues. Be smart and go with either a Honda, Toyota or a Nissan. Hyundai's may look nice on the exterior, but it's what's inside, as in the mechanical components, that actually matters.

Hyundai just doesn’t care about you once you signed the contract and bought their car. I brought my car to the Advantage Hyundai auto dealer to have them fix a recall on my 2020 Palisades. While there the service department informed me that I needed to replace my brake rotors and pads, as the rotors had only three percent thickness remaining. I gave approval for them to conduct the repair only to find out that they didn’t have the rotors in stock and that they would need to be ordered. I was then informed that I would have to pay up-front for the parts in order for them to be ordered. I provided payment and was told that the parts would be in in about 1-2 weeks. They told me to take the car home as they don’t have room to store it and that they would notify me once the part was in.
the parts would be available. This has been going on for nine weeks so far and still no parts. I reached out to Hyundai USA customer service and asked how they can sell cars that they cannot maintain. They are obviously still selling new Palisades with OEM brake’s and rotors attached.
I explained that my car had reached a point that it was no longer safe to operate (and stop safely). Hyundai USA customer service informed me that if it's not a warranty or recall issue they basically can’t help me. They still don’t know when the parts will come in, they did say “another one to two weeks” as if I haven’t heard that before. I did however receive the monthly bill from Hyundai financial to pay for my 2020 Hyundai even though its basically a “Potted Plant” sitting in my driveway. How can they sell cars that they can’t maintain? How can they expect customers to pay for cars that don’t operate? Why would they take money to lock you in to purchasing parts from a dealer who can’t produce the parts?
I am very disappointed with Hyundai’s attitude toward its customers. I like the car and think it's a quality vehicle, it’s a shame that the company feels that once they got you to buy its car that you are no longer of any consequence. Nine plus weeks in and I still have no answers. Hyundai customer service says that company policy will not allow them to help resolve my issue. They basically said ,"You just have to wait!!!!" Too Bad!!!! Anyone considering purchasing a Hyundai vehicle needs to consider the company's attitude toward its customers is the future that awaits you.

I was having power failure issues with my Sonata, it would tell me to pull over and turn off the engine to prevent damage to the Hybrid engine. My Dealership said it was the Electric Water Pump attached to the Hybrid engine, they told me it would be under warranty. This was April 18th 2022, they told me not to drive on it as it would cause catastrophic damage to the Hybrid engine, they then ordered the part, the next availability was May 9th. I had to get it towed in and they didn't get around to it till May 10th, where they called me and said they ordered the wrong part, that it was the electric water pump and that it was 850 dollars plus labour and not covered under warranty.
I called Hyundai Canada on May 11th. I made over 5 calls to Hyundai Canada's warranty department where I had to tell them multiple times about their 160k/8 year warranty and while they were nice, every one of them was confused by why it wasn't under warranty and had to send it to review, they kept telling me 2 or 3 business days to hear back. The only correspondence I got was from the dealership, twice during this period, offering to buy my car. Hyundai Canada finally got back to me on June 8th 2022 to tell me that the Electric Water Pump that is dedicated to the Hybrid engine is covered by the 100k/5 year power train warranty. A Part dedicated to cooling the Hybrid engine so it charges, a part instrumental to the Hybrid engine, a part that makes the car function, a part that won't let the car turn on, charge or drive, a part that does nothing to the main engine or its components Isn't covered by the Hybrid warranty.
I waited a month for Hyundai canada to review why a Hybrid engine water pump isn't covered by the hybrid warranty. This was excessive. Nobody understands this decision. Do not buy from Hyundai. I've bought two Hyundais and this is my last. The Dealership assessed the problem and said it was under warranty, Hyundai Canada says it's a powertrain issue because the part has Water Pump in its name. The purpose of the part has nothing to do with if it's a Hybrid Warranty issue, despite it being dedicated to the system. Buy something else. Once they have your money you will not have a good experience.

But those are nothing compared to the customer Service of this company. You have to wait on hold for long periods of time to get through. Frequently, the person who answers is from abroad and is difficult to understand or even hear. When you achieve any success reaching someone, the issue you have won't be resolved quickly and most of the time you will have to call again. Then the letters start. Endless warnings, threats and requests for clarifications and then you're back on the merry- go- round of trying to get them to stop. I had serious safety issues with my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. I was driving on highway I-75 when my car displayed a message "Hybrid System Warning! Safety Stop and Do not Drive". The car simply STOPPED driving, I was lucky that there were no cars on the right lanes, so I managed to pull my car over. It was an extremely scary experience, especially driving with my 12-year-old daughter. I restarted the car and the message disappeared, I turned on my emergency lights and drove the car to the next exit and then slowly home. The message and the situation happened 2 more times. Next day, my husband and I took the car to a dealer. The service guy, after three days waiting, provided us with a quote for a repair. I refused to pay because it should be a recall repair. I paid for diagnostic only. PA # **
The service guy recommended me to call Consumer Affairs because he agreed with me that it was a safety issue and should be qualified as a recall. I followed his suggestions. I opened case # ** at customer affairs on April 8th. Nobody called me until April 14th. Her name was Savannah and her extension **. She left me a message to give her a call what I did the next day. It went to the VM. I left another message on April 16th and April 17th. On April 18th I received a call from her (10 days after submitting the case) that she needs more time, and she will call me on Wednesday. She did not. I called her back on Thursday and Friday. No response.
I called Consumer Affairs again and requested a response. Finally, she called me on April 26th, telling me that my warranty was 1000 mile over so the Hyundai warranty does not cover it. I explained to her that it should have been a recall but she didn't take safety issues seriously. I am extremely disappointed in Hyundai safety approach and their customer service. The manager didn't even care about me. She was just like "we are not paying". Where is the famous Hyundai customer service?

Called the hyundai roadside assistance since the car isn't even one year old. They promised me a tow truck which never came. I had to take hotel since it was the middle of the night when this happened. I also had to take a rental the next day as customer care promised that my out of pocket expenses would be covered by hyundai. When I asked the case manager for the reimbursement, she shouts at me asking "why would hyundai pay for your hotel" and that there is a per day cap on the amount they would pay for the rental which wouldn't even cover half of my one-way rental car bill.
Hyundai website mentions about trip interruption that promises coverage for the rental, meals and lodging for an overnight incident. https://www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/assurance/roadside-assistance Case manager wouldn't even listen to me trying to explain the case. Ask to listen to a new Kona with same engine, told they didn't have any cars to show me, stop back by 2 months later and seen a Kona, made me wait on my lunch hour. I went in and asked for a salesman, listen to the new Kona and showed salesman my videos and he said there was definitely a noise issue.
I am an ASE certified master mechanic. I showed my supervisor at work the car and he hears the noise, in fact everyone hears the noise and said there's an issue but the service manager at Hyundai tells me there's nothing wrong with my car. The car has 60,000 miles on it and is out of warranty because I bought it used. Warranty expires at $60,000 but I have documented problems since $27,000 miles. Hyundai warranty department case manager is very rude, tries to call me back when I'm at work at 10:30 in the morning after I repeatedly requested they call me at 2:30 p.m. and on, lies to me and tells me that she tried calling so I tried to call her back and cannot get a hold of her.
I requested a new case manager and they said they cannot give me a new case manager. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with the customer service and system that takes place for recall and warranty work. My engine light began flashing Friday morning and I instantly called my “home” dealership to inquire what to do. They said to pull over and not drive it any further and to contact roadside assistance to have it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. I did just that. My vehicle is a 2017, but purchased brand new March 2018. I am well under the 100,000 km/ 5 year warranty.
Once we arrived at the dealership to get things rolling, I was informed that my vehicle has an engine recall - thanks for the notice in the mail on that one, Hyundai - NOT. So that was a major surprise to hear. I get back to work and receive a phone call from service that my engine failed all diagnostic tests and that I needed a new engine altogether. I confirmed all my services have been done through Sherwood Park Hyundai, so they said, "Great, we’ll get them to send over your records and send everything off to Hyundai Canada for approval and get you a rental."
I expressed how much I required a rental, as I am 8 months pregnant and my husband is not available to be driving me to and from work. They told me by Monday or Tuesday they would know the status of the engine and we can do the rental car. I had to call Monday afternoon for an update, she informed me that nothing had been approved yet, but by Tuesday we’d know. I once again explain the need for the rental. Received no phone call Tuesday, so at 2:45 pm I called them, again. Once again told Hyundai Canada still didn’t approve the warranty for the engine. Not only is this a RECALL, but I am under warranty. They then said I could pay $40/ day for a rental through them and once warranty was approved, they’d take it over.
I asked if I’d be reimbursed, they said no. So Hyundai wants me to not only pay my bi-weekly payments on a vehicle I can’t drive, but also pay out of pocket for a rental when it should have already been dealt with and set up. RIDICULOUS. Having a vehicle gets me to my place of employment, which allows me to pay you people for the vehicle sitting in one of your dealerships waiting for an engine on a basically still new vehicle. They were not willing to a single thing to help me out. I will never be buying a Hyundai again. My husband is already looking at getting rid of his also due this service.
I owned 3 Chevy’s prior to the Tucson thinking it was a good move. Worst decision and full regret. Things started great with Hyundai and has plummeted over the years. Whenever my vehicle was in the shop with Chevy they ensured they had a fleet/lot vehicle available to me to drive. When I had to get warranty work done and they required to keep my vehicle for 3 days, they had a rental available to me instantly. Odd, they had no issue getting me in a rental ASAP. Hyundai, you are beyond disappointing and I am disgusted with your customer service.

We still haven’t received our title because Hyundai Finance fails to address our request properly every time for TWO YEARS. We have been sending countless checks and request letters to Hyundai Finance for them to request a duplicate title from the DMV for us, but they keep saying they haven’t received any checks, even though they are all delivered.
For two years now, we haven’t been able to register our car in the state we live in because of the incompetency of the Hyundai title department. I leased a 2021 Hyundai Kona EV from Hyundai November of last year. The vehicle has been giving me issues since, constant dashboard lights and issues with the electric vehicle system. After attempting to charge the vehicle at home, the vehicle would not charge at all. This occurred on January 28, 2022. I anticipate the issue would be due to weather and did not drive it for a few days. On February 1, 2022 I attempted to drive the vehicle and it would not pick up a charge. On the dashboard a check engine light displayed (Check Electric Vehicle System). The only charge left on my vehicle 19% of battery, roughly 58 miles of distance.
I contacted the dealership and explained my issue, and they stated I would have to tow the vehicle to their location, and incur towing fees at my own expense. I then contact a dealership that was much closer, and they scheduled me for service on February 22, 2022. After dropping the vehicle off, the service advisor contacted me 9 days later and explained to me that the vehicle has an issue with the electric vehicle system. He also advised me that the electric vehicle battery must be replaced, and the time frame for replacement is 5-7 months.
I contacted Hyundai Corporate and explained to them the issue. I advised them that I would like to have the vehicle purchased back from Hyundai due to its defect since the vehicle can not be repaired in a timely manner, and has a defective issue. I also explained to them that an issue with the battery concerns me, and I do not feel safe charging the vehicle at home knowing there is an issue with the battery, and there may be an issue with the replacement battery as well. The safety of myself and my family must be taken into consideration when dealing with an issue on a vehicle that is plugged into the electrical system of my home. Hyundai advised me that there is nothing they can do, and I am stuck with this vehicle. This entire situation has been an unforeseen nightmare.
I am at a lost for words at the experience that I have had with Hyundai Motor America. This is a new vehicle with roughly 5,000 miles, and I am being forced by Hyundai Motor America to continue to remain in a lease for vehicle their own employees have told me could be many months to repair. Hyundai Motor America is refusing to assist me in the matter knowing that the vehicle is a lemon, under New Jersey lemon law. I highly suggest anyone reading this to rethink to do business with Hyundai Motor America.

People helped me push the car to get it backed off to a bit of safety zone, I had to have it towed to a garage. This car had 82,000. miles on it, it seems the motor was gone. It was then towed to the dealership, where it sat for 4 months before anyone even took a look at it. I keep calling them frequently about it and was told, they had so many cars before me in line they didn't have time to work on it.
I had to find other means of transportation for work and other necessities. Only to be told because I was 2,000 over the second owners warranties that Hyundai refused to replace it. They had a class action suite against them, I was notified, but didn't have a problem at the time I was notified. Why would I spent $6,000 for a new one of their motors when the one I had was no good? I was told of others the same dealership that they had replaced motors with the overage mileage. We purchased a 2020 Hyundai Kona and drove it for approximately 12,000 miles. At that point, the transmission started lurching and the check engine light came on. We immediately took the car in to the dealer. After a week and a half calling almost every day to find out what was wrong, we were informed that the transmission had completely failed. Still under warranty, we had to wait another two weeks or so for Hyundai to approve the repair of a car with 12,000 miles. Obviously waiting for better than three weeks just to diagnosis the repair and get the green light for repair is absurd, but it gets so much worse. As you would expect, we called the dealer every couple of days to check in. 100% of our calls went to voicemail and the dealer returned our call about 1 out of every 4 times. We were finally told that Hyundai doesn't have the parts for repair and that they don't have any timeline for getting the parts.
At that point, we tried to work with Hyundai to get the car repurchased under our state lemon law. Our particular law states that cars under warranty are eligible for lemon status if they have been in the sop for greater than 30 days (cumulative) while under warranty. When we started working with Hyundai, we were already at nearly 60 days without the car. Hyundai took our information 3 separate times because they are apparently as bad at record keeping as they are at manufacturing and customer service, and then denied our request without providing a reason for the denial. We have now gone to the BBB to try and resolve the issue under their manufacturers' program. The BBB says that they generally resolve issues in 30 days, but we are weeks into the process and Hyundai hasn't even responded to the BBB complaint.
As of this writing, our car has been at the dealer for 72 days and we still have no idea when we may get it back or whether Hyundai plans to force us to sue them. Meanwhile, we are trying to figure out what to do to get out of this terrible purchase decision. I don't know what more I can say to warn you, but for the love of everything that is holly, do not buy a Hyundai. Maybe you will get lucky and your new Hyundai won't have a breakdown, but you really need to ask yourself if you can risk months without a car, should you have an issue. There are better options out there and you should take them. Hyundai is not worth the risk, I promise you!

We just purchased a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy trim in Sep '21 because we loved that it had everything we were looking for in regards to safety, technology, and design. We paid $45k for it along with about $1,000 in fees and travel to pick it up. We were quite excited as this was our first brand new vehicle. 2 months into it, the transmission went bad and we brought it to Hyundai to find out what's going on as it was under warranty. Here's where things went further south.
Hyundai can't get parts to fix their brand new cars...and on top of that, why would a transmission already be bad? It has sat on their lot since Nov 30th, 2021. Last week we just got an offer to buy back the vehicle for more than 4k less than what we just bought it for and drove it for two months. They stated that our state allows for depreciation in Missouri for lemon laws and they can't help us, it is what it is.
During this time, cars have gone up because dealers are now charging a "mark up fee", so although they can claim depreciation, we can't claim "appreciation" on the car. So to get the same exact car we just bought, we now will have to pay 4-8k more for equivalent. It's horrible. And just for a "buyer beware" situation, Hyundai will no longer replace your car with an equivalent one "substitution for collateral equity". They stopped replacing them with like cars because they're manufacturing so few that anything they make has to go to dealers to get top value for them.
Point being for this review is that although Hyundai makes a great car much of the time, if you have any problems at all, there are concerns of finding parts for repairs, and if it's unrepairable, plan on a huge deduction for a buyback. Good luck out there from a very unhappy customer who just lost 4-8k on a brand new vehicle, and now I have to go find a replacement on my own.

Brought my 2015 Santa Fe in the middle of March 2021 after my mechanic reported engine issues. Dealership refused me at the door, after waiting an hour, and said there was no sound. 7months later, problem obviously worsens, and this time - wow, they found the same problem I reported 7 months prior. Did I mention my 6 year old vehicle only had 55,000 miles at the time I first reported this? What kind of quality engine starts fading at 55,000 miles - especially when the vehicle is primarily used to shuttle children to and from activities. Since it was bought used and past the warranty mileage of used cars (which why should the 100,000 mile warranty vary based on a car being used or new - perhaps because they know they can screw more people with said advertising?), Hyundai would only offer us 65% which might be okay if Hyundai engines weren’t 25,000$ (Are they using gold or some other precious gems in there?).
What I’m also struggling with is the fact that smaller model Hyundai engines are being recalled left and right and totally covered. Well my semi larger sibling to these recalled vehicles is also experiencing this engine issue, so I beg you to consider this is an issue outside the smaller suv. The story doesn’t end there - so stay with me…
Just over 2 months later (and a few days after completing a rating they sent me - ironic?), I hear back from the manager. They want to help me out - can you believe that!! I thought 2022 was going to be my year (despite Covid still going on and both my children having a stomach bug at the time of the call). There was one catch. Corporate would be more likely to work with me, IF I was willing to rescore them “as an act of good faith.” Well what fool would rescore them without a new offer proposed? You guessed it - this fool. In my defense, I wanted to know the percentage before rescoring, but of course that wasn’t possible since the higher ups had to make that offer. I figured - what do I have to lose?
A month of me calling almost daily to find out what rescoring did for my problem resulted in nothing. Nada. Not a fraction of a difference because I don’t get my car serviced there and some other **. Which is ironic since their mechanics were the ones who didn’t notice the problem after my mechanic sent me there (now more than 10 months ago). Any respect for Hyundai (do you really find it acceptable for your engines to die at 55,000 miles?), any hope that they cared about their customer safety (I mean who would want their family driving in a vehicle that could leave them stranded after 55,000 miles), are lost. I am deeply disappointed with how much time I have wasted trying to work with a company that in my option is a scam. I’ve requested another rescore - think it’ll come as quick as it did the last time??

This will be my LAST Hyundai. I will EVER buy. I just wish I have a bigger audience to advertise what a fraudulent auto company this is. You will NOT get this from Honda or Toyota. I got this vehicle (2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited) NEW. After 8 yrs of driving it, I lost the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty because I just went beyond the 100,000. So on the last week of 2021, I nearly got stuck in the highway because the car would not accelerate and it was jerking all along. I quickly pull over to the side of the break down lane. My car was towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership that I can find. Due to a lot of people having trouble with their cars, the dealership told me I had to wait for 3 weeks before they have a chance to check my car. Then, I ask if they can give me a loaner car while this car is in service. This dealership like other Hyundai dealerships that I have worked with told me that they cannot.
I read other feedbacks from people who gave their ratings here. I noticed there were many people with the same experience I had to go through with regards to a no loaner policy. I owned Honda in the past and no matter what condition my car is, Honda and its dealerships would NEVER let me go without a loaner. I even told the Hyundai dealership that I have an 80+ yr old parent I need to take care of and bring her to see the doctors often. I need a vehicle at all time but still, there is no luck. Now, i understand that maybe my vehicle's issue is due to wear and tear. But still, if there is a RECALL, I would expect to get a loaner. NO way. no loaner even with recalls. And this vehicle had a TOTAL of 6 recalls! None of the recalls provided me with a loaner.
What Hyundai asked is to have you save your receipts and ask for compensation in its online Hyundai USA system. DO NOT TRUST IT. Why? First, they tell you that they need 180 days to process it. Think about it.. 180 days to process a claim??? I submitted my rental in the past with everything including my receipts to them and you know what I got? After waiting for more than 180 days on one claim, I contact them. The lady on the other end told me the claim was denied and rejected. I said why? She just told me there was a mix up. But I personally did NOT EVEN get any notification of the rejection.
Really, don't bother submitting a claim. You will not get a DIME from them. They will find every way to deny it even if it is a legitimate claim. if Hyundai has a No loaner policy, at least make the vehicles reliable. I have only 108,000 miles in my car. This auto company should be ashamed of themselves for making junks and unsafe vehicles for consumers and expect the consumer to pay for their mistakes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH HYUNDAI. I don't understand why people here would give them a 4 or 5 star rating. Well, they shall know what I mean once they go beyond 100k miles in their vehicles. Perhaps they will regret that they praise this unprofessional company; and one last point if people do not know already, THIS IS NOT A JAPANESE COMPANY. This is a Korean company and it STILL has a reputation for making BAD CARS.

Purchased a used 2015 Santa Fe because of good reviews and reliability, or so I thought; unbeknownst to me the vehicle had recall and service campaign issues after class actions alerted the public to defective engines produced for many years, known to cause dangerous engine failures and fires. A former Hyundai engineer whistleblower was awarded over $200 million for alerting about the engines in production which had massive safety concerns. Many consumers had dangerous engine failures but end up being told their necessary engine replacement is not covered due to loopholes or their lack of installing a bandaid fix; software that does not fix the engine but it merely is meant to alert the driver if engine failure is due to happen.
Many consumers are told "Not covered because service campaign was not performed to install software" which was a bandaid fix anyway. The software does not fix the defective engine...it simply is installed to "hopefully" alert you if the defective engine fails. Whether it has the bandaid software installed or not...if the defective engine fails, Hyundai needs to cover the replacement engine.

This complaint is in regards to the Hyundai customer service team. I have been in contact with several associates and managers, concerning a state to state transfer of my vehicles registration since November 19th, 2021. On November 19th, 2021, I contacted the team (via (800) 523-4030) to ask the best course of action for receiving, completing and returning the required documentation for this request. I was advised to mail in the documentation, to the overnight office located at the following address: 5505 N. Cumberland Ave., Ste 307 Chicago, IL 60055-4301.
The package was delivered on Nov 22, 2021 at 9:48 am and signed for by an associate. After not receiving any follow up, I contacted the team again on December 9th, 2021 to confirm delivery. No confirmation was provided and I was told they would be following up with their partners in Chicago. I followed up again on December 17th and the 27th, still no answer or record of previous conversations. On the 27th I resubmitted the state to state transfer request via email/secure message. I was referred to the escalations department and have followed up 5 times since as resent the email once. Including today. There is still no record of notes from previous conversations or requests previously sent.
Today I asked for a 4th submission via secured messaging, a copy of my title and for yet another email to be sent to the titles and complaints department. None of which has taken place. I am currently paying monthly for a vehicle I cannot legally operate, due to the customer service team's blatant neglect for the last 2 months. Each time I call I have to repeat this story. Enough is enough.

So I bought out my lease for a 2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition. I have reported numerous times to Hyundai’s customer care team and the Hyundai case management team, about the engine problems I have been having such as oil consumption and the intermittent stalling on roadways. The intermittent stall has almost gotten me into an accident numerous times and I almost got killed at an intersection from it stalling. I have brought my vehicle in into dealerships for inspection and servicing. Hyundai USA does nothing about it and simply brushed me off.
Currently I have been out of a vehicle for over a week now since the check engine light came on and I am having problems with the ECM. My vehicle is at 104000 miles and the problems started at 70k miles. I have been in and out of mechanic shops to get it fix and it still has problems. I have requested to Hyundai underpins times that it needs a new engine and they just ignore my complaints and requests. If you are looking into purchasing a car I would never look at a Hyundai for the safety of yourself and your family. Please look elsewhere. I’m still making payments on a non working piece of junk. I have told them several times I cannot afford to do that and pay my car notes. They reached out to me with several lies but closed my account. They say someone will contact me after I contacted them again and it's been a week and no one have reached out yet. If they would tell people ahead of time they have some things that goes wrong with the motor many people wouldn't waste time with Hyundai. But I with others will make sure no one else get helmed up like this because this is a burden that we carry without the care of Hyundai. I have a santa fe sport and sonata purchased within 1 year of each other. There have been several warranty issues on both cars. The company is horrible to deal with. MOst recently I called the company because of the issues I had with the dealership and they were no help because the dealerships are all independent, but the next closest dealership is over 1 hour away and you have to go to a dealer for warranty issues. When I spoke to their customer service about rental reimbursement for warranty issues, they said they do that, but don't guarantee (since it may not be a warranty issue and they don't know for sure until the car is fixed).
I asked if there was a certain type of car I needed to rent and they said no and said it would be ok to get something similar to the car I own and that would be considered when issuing reimbursement. So I got a mid size SVU rental because I have a santa fe sport and then they would only reimburse about half of what I paid. If they would have been up front with me and said, the max we reimburse is $** then I would have tried to find a cheaper rental. So my warranty repair cost me over $200 in rental fees.

I am in sales and work in the field where an automobile is a NECESSITY! That's why I bought NEW for dependability! My car was still under warranty and only needed a battery & starter (this took 3 weeks). I only had 39k miles.
Hyundai customer care REFUSED to pay for a rental car for me and the dealership said NO loaners were available. I was only able to rent a car for 2 days and submitted paperwork for reimbursement and was only offered $150 for the rental when I had to pay almost $300 for the rental for 2 days on an economy size car! Hyundai would not even offer the FULL amount for my 2 DAY RENTAL! Wow! I was told that if I rented a car...Hyundai would reimburse me and turns out this was another MAJOR Letdown from this whole Hyundai ordeal!
It's a very good thing (only 1 out of this whole story) that I was not able to rent a car for the 3 weeks...because I would have not gotten ALL my $$ back which would have been a DOUBLE loss of money $$ for me being out of work for 3 weeks AND not having received a FULL Rental car reimbursement! I totally feel disrespected and was treated like my business was of VERY LITTLE VALUE to them. This was my 2nd Hyundai purchase...but after this ordeal...I am DONE with Hyundai...the corporate office seems to be WORST than this dealership! Nobody seems to care in this company as a whole except SELLING you their CAR! :-( RUUNNN!!!!

This year in March my car got towed into Hyundai on Industrial Hwy, East York PA because it wouldn't DRIVE with my children in the car. My oil light was on, my fiancé is very, very good at keeping up with oil changes and checking this POS car.
For the last year it had been leaking oil. It was never a lot but no car should ever leak oil. So Hyundai calls and tells me that my 4 year old car needs a new engine and that I have to prove where I got my oil changes because it was under warranty still (THANK GOD). So we did all of that and got a new engine in and didn't get my car back until July 2021. I was really excited to buy my first Hybrid. I have long commutes to work and wanted a car that could save me gas mileage. This car is a 2018, at the time of this writing it is now 2021 (4 years old!). In the time that I have bought it, the car died twice on the highway commuting to or from work. The first time it died there was no check engine light warning to indicate any kind of prevention to get the car looked at. I was just driving home and then a big yellow icon popped up. I was able to coast my car off the road and turn it off. I waited a bit and then turned my car back on. I was able to safely finish driving home before calling the service department at the Hyundai dealer in my area to take a look at it. After they finished and I paid for their services, no satisfactory answer was given for why it died or what could be done to prevent it. Just something about some kind of water hose being replaced??
The second time my car died was this past Nov 1st. The day before I heard noises coming from my car but I couldn't be certain. Again no check engine light or anything. So as I drove to work again on the highway all of the sudden a check engine light comes on and my car dies. I barely make it to the side of the road again with smoke coming out. I called AAA to tow my car to the Hyundai dealer. They won't be able to look at it until mid December. All the local Hyundai dealers were booked. I took it to an auto repair shop to run diagnostics and was told my engine had seized. I would need to replace the engine.
This car is only 4 years old, I can't believe it. Right now once I get my car in the shop, I am praying the manufacturer will cover replacement of the engine which I was quoted costs $10k! My remaining car loan is more than that. Come next year, whether replaced engine or dead car I'm selling my losses and chucking it. Hence, my presence on ConsumerAffairs. Looking for a better reliable car. (Sigh) Hopefully I can warn others. It's comforting to see my experience is not unique to me.

I own a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. On September 29, 2021, I had my oil changes. I was a thousand miles early but the oil light had come on. I asked the service station to check why my car was lagging when driving. I've been going to the same place for years to get my car oiled. Not a Hyundai dealership. He told me that my engine is ruined due to the engine burning oil, the tip of the oil dipstick was burnt. I left to go home and my car died. I had it towed to the closest Hyundai Dealership which is the dealership in Palatine, IL.
The next day I went to the dealership and dealt with Kyle ** (I'm not completely sure that is his last name). Kyle is at the front desk of the service area. Kyle told me it's probably going to take a month and a half & I should rent a car and Hyundai will pay $40 a day. I rented a car from September 30- November 1. On Monday, October 7, 2021 Kyle texted me and said they are looking for Update/recall 953 ECM, & said the recall was not done so my car does not qualify for the warranty. He took less than 30 seconds to tell me my car was trash & he’s just telling me what he’s been told & that I should contact Consumer Affairs!!! It wasn’t a big deal to him!! I take very good care of my car, I have all receipts for the service I have had done on my car from the places I've had my car worked on. Needless to say I was so upset and not happy with that answer, my car has 68,000 miles on it.
I have the phone number of the salesmen I bought the car from in 2014, at McGrath City Hyundai in Chicago, IL. His name is Frank, I called him and he agreed to help me since I received really poor customer service at the Palatine dealership. Kyle was less than professional or helpful. On one of the visits I made to the Palatine dealership he was so disrespectful, as he was walking away and his back was to me he said get your car out of here or I'll charge you for storage. I did let him know I was now going to be working with Frank who was going to work on my behalf through the Gurnee Dealership.
Kyle was not going to let me get things out of my car until I paid $165 in diagnostic fees. I was told I didn't owe any money. Kyle did call me back and told me I don't owe anything. I can get belongings out of my car. On October 13th Frank told me he was going to have my car towed the next day, October 15th Frank said I have to call Palatine and pay a $100 fee Palatine would not release the car to Frank at his Gurnee, IL. location. I went and signed a release and was told no charge.
On October 19th Frank said they were busy at his dealership and couldn't get my car. On October 20th I texted Frank & He said he'd call me in 20 minutes, I never received the call. On October 22nd I sent Frank a text telling him I didn't want to bother him but I need some answers. He replied in the text that he was on the phone with Hyundai, he would text me in 5 minutes. He was almost done, never texted me. On Monday, October 23rd I texted Frank to see what was happening. He replied in a text "shortly" and never called or texted. On Wednesday, October 27th I sent Frank a text asking him or telling him if he can't help me please just be honest, I am desperate for answers. He emailed me back saying they just emailed him 2 hours ago that they have a conference call at 9 the next day. He said he'd have a definite answer by noon, he never called me back.
Frank told me about updates being done. When they are received has to be done in a certain time frame. Even if I'm not aware of the updates, I didn't get notices on all the updates. Frank then gave me a phone number to get reimbursed for the rental Customer Service Specialist 714-887-2553 I have left several messages and I am not getting a return call. He had e email him the receipts.
Here it is November 8th, I'm no better off than I was September 29th! Frank is now at The Gurnee dealership. I called the Gurnee dealership to find out Frank's last name and the person on the phone said he was new and didn't know his last name. I do have cell phone numbers for both gentlemen. I started working with Frank on October 7th. I really thought Frank was going to help me with my car and I appreciated him saying he was going to help me but he really just wasted time and I do wish he would've been honest with me and told me he can't help me. I had sent Frank my drivers license, bill of sales & known updates done at a Highland Park, IL. dealership. I have copies of text messages.
Consumer Affairs did call me once, I missed the call they said they would call back and they have not. I am amazed how uncaring and unprofessional this company is. I have left several messages with no response. I am so tired of Hyundai taking advantage of me. I will NEVER buy or recommend to anyone buy a Hyundai. I have never experience a situation as bad as this in my life. Hyundai is not a stand up corporation in my eyes. They are failures. TOTALLY TAKING ADVANTAGE!

Do not buy Hyundai! You will regret it. I was sold a 2017 hyundai from the dealership with about 30k miles on it. This happened while the company knew about all the faults with the 2016-2017 transmission and DCT issues (please research the vast array negative testimonials on this line). I go for services 2-3x per year and before the recommended mileages are hit (I have the receipts and documentation to show this). Despite being continuously proactive, it was not long after I starting dropping thousands in unanticipated repairs. Only 2 weeks after a multi-point inspection and supposed tune-up at Lester Glenn in Toms River, the car started stalling. I had to bring it back for additional diagnostics and repairs. Again, a few months later, I had another service done. Part of it involved a light bulb I could have changed myself but was willing to pay a few extra bucks to have done do to business.
My mind changed when the service rep, Chris, attempted to up-charge me ~$150 to change the light bulb, claiming the bumper had to be removed. After some stern discussion on how I knew that was not the case, he only admitted to attempting to upcharge me after I refused that particular fix by them. Yes, he actually admitted to trying to upcharge me. After spending a few hundred on some various fluid changes and checks I went on my way. 2 weeks later, the car transmission goes and it can no longer go in reverse. Going forward it becomes dangerous too as it stalls more and stutters. When I bring it back, Lester Glenn and Hyundai say that a transmission replacement will be $4,700. This is while I still have $11,600 still to pay off on this scam of a car I have only had for 2-3yrs and got at ~30K miles. Neither Lester Glenn or Hyundai Corporate offered my family any help with this situation.
They did not even waive/refund my prior diagnostic fees and wouldn’t provide a loaner car when I needed it for work! In fact, other than Shawn (head rep at Lester Glenn?), no one there even feigned sympathy or understanding for the matter. Hyundai has sent me from slightly skeptical to full-blown traumatized about the auto industry. Especially in a time where many are financially hurting from the pandemic, their actions and duplicity completely contradict the integrity claims they attempt to advertise. I cannot warn you enough to stay away from their products and from Lester Glenn’s service. I don’t want this happening to anyone else!

I am going on a long drive in 10 days to visit a sick family member. I need my car. I also need it for work.

This is how they rope you in to buying their crummy cars “We have American’s best Warranty.” Don’t ever expect to use it though when you need it. They’ll do everything in their power to get out of having to pay to fix your car when something goes wrong. In my case, my whole electrical system fried within less than two years of having the car. Thinking I had “American’s Best Warranty” I thought, no big deal I’ll bring it in and they’ll fix it. Well, no, they tried to claim an animal chewed through my wires so it wasn’t covered by the warranty and I had to go through my insurance to have it fixed. Mind you, this is before I found out there was a class action lawsuit filed against this company for cars with unexpected engine and electrical failures and them failing to make repairs and weaseling their way out of them.
They kept my car for 10 weeks trying to fix the issue and every time they fix one issue they would call back and say “oh turns out this is also wrong with your car because of the animal, you have to go through your insurance and put in another supplemental claim.” After 8,000 paid by my initial insurance claim and two supplemental claims of a 1000 a piece and a 500 deductible from me, they gave me back my car that still doesn’t work and still having electrical problems. Their response, we’ll diagnose the problem for 300 dollars to figure out what’s wrong with it now and now they want me to put in another supplemental claim due to another wire that was frayed due to “animal damage.” I can’t even trade the car in because no other dealer wants it due to all the problems and I still have 12,000 left to pay and a car that doesn’t function right.

I had my car towed to this location by roadside assistance from Hyundai, due to screw that lodged into my tire, causing it to flatten. This could have been a quick fix and I was told they give roadside tow-ins priority. Hyundai roadside assistance was great but did not check or mention my car model is not serviceable at all locations. I now know. The dealer held my car hostage for 4 days, no call back (left about 6 messages) until we called Sales department on 3rd day, and they spoke rudely to my friend who was trying to help me out (don't call service department they will never pick up or call back, go to sales they will pick up).
I decided on the 4th day (Tues morning) after they told me it would be ready by Tuesday morning, to just simply show up and they said it would was not ready and would be ready in 5 hours. So I said I would sit there and wait, and when I finally decided to call another tow truck and told them to pull my car out, they said the tire was there and they were going to fix it now. Funny how that worked out.
I also have an app on my phone that tells me the location of the car. It somehow was in SF not in Richmond when I checked on Saturday, but was back in the dealership on Sunday. Not sure if someone took it for a joyride, but after the non-communication, I wouldn't put it past them. Avoid this place at all cost. So I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Veloster with 34k on it. 7/12 my car started acting up losing power and I guess I would call it vibrating. The car only had 80k in miles on it. The dealership that I took the car to for service for the whole time the car ran said something about a #2 cylinder was bad and that they recommend doing the spark plugs too. I drove my car there daintily only on city streets, no highway, regular street speeds. According to the mechanic at hyundai after they did this the car would no longer hold combustion. Prior to this episode my car ran pretty good and was well maintained as well. Proper oil changes and maintenance as well however I did notice that it seemed to be going through more oil than usual and I had mentioned this to my service rep at Hyundai and he recommended that we start to monitor the oil consumption between oil changes and to start coming in every 1000 miles which I did.
7/7 I brought my car in to have the oil checked as it was just before the 1000 miles and I had plans to drive the car to little rock Arkansas so I wanted to make sure all was ok with my car as I always do before taking a trip in my car. So I barely make it back and the car started like get stuck in lower gear and make like a revving sound and but wasn't going any faster and the check engine light came on and was blinking and while blinking the car just didn't act right but if I turned the car off and then turned it back on the check engine light would stop blinking. It would stay on but it would stop blinking and the car would move. I got home and drove it directly to the dealership and left it there with them. I get back a car that had to be towed from the dealership and needs a motor. But because I am a second owner the engine is no longer under warranty and the motors have been discontinued so all I can really get is a used motor and the quote that I got from hyundai was 6500. Again all on me. Hyundai will not help in any manner.
I am a handicapped individual who is now left carless and with no means to get any type of engine for the car. I said all this to say I am very very disappointed I thought I was buying a reliable car with a reliable name behind it but it doesn't seem for me that was the case. I'm just screwed, paid something like 35,000 in car notes for a car that only ran for 3 yrs. If I only wanted a car to last for 3yrs I could have just gotten a cash car. I appealed to hyundai and was assigned a case manager by the name of Tyler who never talked personally to me. She would call and when I returned her call was placed right into voicemail then the only emails I got were the ones that said, "We appreciate you contacting us and we will get back to you," and then when she finally responded it was to tell me that there was nothing that they were willing to do for me.

I bought a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, when I bought it it had almost 40,000 miles on it. I have had nothing but trouble with this car. It has been in the shop more times than it should for being a newish car. I started experiencing issues that my car is consuming oil!!!! Say What? YES. I SAID OIL. This is a 5 quart engine. And in 3,000 miles my car consumed 3 quarts. I call Hyundai Corporate and they gave me a case number. I then called Stone's Hyundai and told them that I have a case number and that my car is consuming big time. Jeremy at Stone's Hyundai told me that they were going to do an oil consumption test. Which requires every 1000 miles to check the oil. Well me living an hour away I took my car to Jiffy Lube where I always got my oil changed.
Jeremy at Stone's Hyundai told me that all he needed was the pictures and he would send them in to Hyundai. So the next 1000 miles was when I was due for an oil change. Jeremy told me that when I was close to my oil change, to make an appointment and that they were going to put some kind of chemical to clean the rings. In hopes that it would work. I was also informed that it would only take two hours. After I drove an hour away to Stone's Hyundai in Pocatello Idaho I was then told that they would need my car overnight thus leaving me stranded with no way home. So then I had to rent a vehicle to get back home. Then the next day I get a email that my car is ready and that I owe $385. This is a major issue as the vehicle using that much oil will cause the engine to seize.
Jeremy did not care that I have a case with Hyundai, he told me that I would have to pay for the services before I could get my car back. Therefore leaving me no choice but to leave a check with him while we waited on the response from Hyundai Corporate. Well I was told that a case manager will call me in no more than ten days. So Jeremy said that he will hold it for a total of thirteen days giving corporate time to investigate. Well I waited and the ten days had passed plus more than that. They told me that a case manager would call me that day which was on 8/16/2021.
No one has ever called me and it was suppose to have been escalated on 7/30/2021. Needless to say Hyundai don't give two ** about you nor do the Hyundai Dealerships. So Stone's Hyundai cashed the check which one I didn't have the funds for so it put me in the whole plus a overdraft fee on top of that. Due to the way they treated me I traded in the Hyundai and will NEVER Own a Hyundai AGAIN!!!!

The people are great when it comes to buying your car. But when it comes to helping fix it it is a nightmare. I got a new engine 3 months ago. They had it for 9 weeks. After 3 months of having it now it is having another issue and no one seems to know how to help other than fixing it. The parts are nowhere to be found and they have NO loaner cars, which I was told at first one wouldn't be given to me because my warranty didn't cover it even though had they done it right in the 9 weeks they had it, I wouldn't be in the position I am right now with NO car. After struggling for 7 weeks last time, they finally gave me a loaner the last 2 or 3 weeks of it all.
Now we are at yet another situation where they can't help. This is completely aggravating and disappointing from Gates. I have been with them 7 years and this has been the worst yet. No big issues have happened in the past. My car is a 2014 with 41,000 miles and it shouldn't be where it is now. It has been well maintained and cared for. Before you buy, just know they are great but that's their job when selling. But when it comes to fixing things later on down the road, good luck.

We have been happy Hyundai customers for many years. Earlier in the year, we were noticing that our Genesis was sporadically pulling to one side. We took it to our car to Chapman Hyundai in Phoenix, AZ - the dealership we purchased the car and loyally worked with them on all of our service needs. They couldn't recreate the issue, so they returned the car to us. We continue to have incidences of this happen again, so took the car back. They did a wheel alignment. It didn't solve the problem. In June I lost control of the car when coming off the highway. I feared that I would not be able to stop at the bottom of the off-ramp, which would have resulted in a major accident. Fortunately, I was able to regain control and stop the car in time.
We tried to make an appointment with the dealership, but there was a 2-week wait, so we took it to a local repair shop because we were afraid to drive the car and couldn't be without it for 2 weeks. They quickly saw that all 4 control arms had major cracks in them. They replaced them. They said that this issue should have been detected by the dealership mechanics since the cracks were quite large. This doesn't happen overnight. They also suggested there may be another issue that should be watched if the pulling should happen again.
I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs to report this situation on June 2nd. I was told that I would hear back from a case manager within 10 days. I was finally contacted (after repeatedly calling, sitting on hold, waiting, and waiting) on July 14th. The case manager immediately told us that there was nothing she could do as far as reimbursement of the over $3500 of costs we incurred at an independent garage because the car wasn't repaired by a certified Hyundai mechanic. I stressed our lack of faith in the technicians, stressed the risk I was put in, and threatened to go viral with my story.
She came back 5 days later saying that the company would reimburse me for the cost of parts only - however, I had to take the car to a dealership for them to "make sure the work was done properly". She wanted me to pay for this service while taking MORE time off work - not having a car. She called me back 2 days later to see if I was going to accept the offer even though I told her it wasn't fair that I had to pay for the service call as well as everything else I've been dealing with.
She called me back - as promised - on July 22nd. I was unavailable to take her call. Since then I have left multiple messages/emails with her with no response. The pulling issue still persists to this day. On August 4th we scheduled a service call with a different Hyundai dealership. Again, we have to wait 2 weeks for our appointment. We're left with an unsafe car, no response from the company, and no sight in end to this issue. When my husband had car issues with his Acura, they had to wait 2 weeks to get the necessary part that was draining our battery. They provided us with a loaner so we weren't inconvenienced and kept us updated on the status of the part. That's customer service. Maybe Hyundai needs to look at its competitors and learn how to treat people properly.

Hyundai keeps calling and telling me that they fix the issue only for me to go test drive the car and it still Loses power. They keep telling me it’s one thing charging me an arm and a leg And the car continues to lose power. First they told me the engine needed to be cleaned charge me $350. Test drove it still losing power. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 3 charge me $280 to remove one bolt. Needless to say that still didn't fix the issue. Then they tell me it’s coil pack number 4. Another $280.
Guess what the issue still isn’t fixed. They refused to fix my car And want to charge me $910 before they release my car to me. None of the things they told me was wrong with the car fixed the issue. I’ve missed over 30 days of work because we are down to one car. Nearly $4000 between missed work and repairs that never needed to be done. Hyundai is putting me and my family at danger along with other families with their vehicle. I’m guessing until someone gets seriously hurt or dies it’s not their problem.

Colonial Hyundai and Hyundai in general is one of the worst car companies I’ve ever dealt with. My Hyundai Tucson has been in the service department since March of 2021 to get the engine replaced on it and it STILL hasn’t been fixed! They gave me a downgrade of a rental car to drive and I was made to believe by the service worker (Kimberly) who is over my car that I would have my Tucson fixed in a couple weeks. Since then all I have gotten is nothing but LIES from her and the service department! They recently told me that it could take between the middle of July towards the beginning of August until my car is completed, which is utterly ridiculous! I’ve had 3 case managers since then trying to work on my behalf and they’ve checked for updates and somehow can’t really do anything to get my Tucson fixed any sooner.
What’s even more disappointing is that Hyundai will not take full responsibility for their wrongdoing! I called to speak to the General Manager (Talal) of sales to discuss other options. I was suppose to meet with him last Saturday but had another obligation to come up and could not make it. I called to let him know and did not receive a call back. So I called again today so I could see when I could meet with him next but he wasn’t there. I left my contact information for him to call me back but I’ve noticed over time they will not call you back so you have to keep calling. As a customer, I’ve been treated like crap and as if my concerns don’t matter! They really could care less! Hyundai is an absolutely awful company!!!

I love everything about my car except for the engine’s power. I went with the lower end trim model and my best friend got the higher end trim with the turbo engine. Her car is perfect. Mine not so much. Have to turn off the a.c. every time I merge on the freeway. So if you buy this car get the higher trim. Otherwise it’s great. Bought it certified preowned so warranty is still good for a few more years. Had it for almost 2 years now with very few problems. Was able to cancel my AAA membership because the Hyundai warranty covers roadside assistance. Already had to use it once for a flat tire and the process was quick and painless and cost me $0.
Lots of cool features even on the base model like reverse camera and lane assist which I can’t imagine living without anymore. The all wheel drive option is also helpful for rain and snow. Here in AZ it’s not such a big deal but back in Chicago I felt much more comfortable on the road. Handled much better than my previous Honda. The extra space underneath the car is also great for handling snow. The size is perfect. I can fit into parking spots no problem but there is a ton of cabin room. I hit my head inside most subcompacts. Not this one though. The only interior design feature I would change is the large space between the actual driver's seat and the counsel. It’s like a black hole for everything that’s on my lap. Everything falls in there and can be difficult to get back out….

My 2017 Hyundai Tuscon I originally leased but ended up buying it when my lease was up. It was about a month later in December the engine/transmission went. I took it in the service department. Took 3 days to look at it but determined metal shavings were all over the motor and it needed to be replaced. Thankfully still under warranty. I then asked for a loaner and a manager in the service department told me "they don't do that." I ended up going to Enterprise for a rental IN DECEMBER. I called every week for six weeks asking for an update and I was told they were "waiting on a part." I then asked to speak to a manager as I was out money for renting a car for six weeks and another manager in the department said, "Yes we have one. come pick it up." I get there and I was told they didn't have any more cars to loan out. Obviously I threw a fit as I turned in my other lease.
By now it is MARCH and they still have not communicated when my car would be ready I quit calling weekly and went straight to Hyundai Corporate where they opened up a case and gave me a case manager. He was not that helpful at all. It didn't speed up the process of me getting my car back. I finally got my car back March 30th and my paperwork to turn in for reimbursement and I was told a week or so later the paperwork that the dealership gave me was not enough to warrant a reimbursement. I resent the paperwork 3x and emailed and called since they will not return my emails or calls. I would NEVER deal or buy from Hyundai again. There are too many other nicer cars and I am sure easier people to deal with than Hyundai. I will now go a step further and file civil action against them. The car was under warranty. I should be able to get my money back and they should have communicated better!!!!

They begin to work on the car and suddenly they ran into some difficulties. Suddenly Hyundai wanted all kinds of paper work. This went for some time. I mentioned our warranties. Hyundai Corp. said they do have a new car and used car warranty. They could proceed with repairs with no cost to us. Then the nightmare began.
Suddenly they couldn't find parts for our car. The mechanics have been wonderful. They have been looking everywhere. Hyundai Corp. seems like they could care less. At this date we are still waiting for parts to complete the repairs. We are senior citizens my wife is 74 and I am 78. We are on Social Security with part time jobs to make ends meet. Since Hyundai said they could not give us a loaner, we have had to rent a car for seven (7) weeks now. This is a small fortune to us. We have had to go into our savings account to pay for this. We are running out of money. We have talked to Hyundai's customer complaint service. All they say is that they are working on it?? Lately, for the past two weeks they have not returned any of our calls for updates on our complaint. Regina seems to have disappeared.
We are running out of money and need help. WE NEED OUR CAR!! As of this date, they are still waiting for parts to repair our car. Soon we will be forced to file for bankruptcy because we have to pay the $300 a week to rent a car....for no reason since Hyundai has turned their backs on us. We will have to give up our rental because there is no more money to pay for it....so, we will no longer be able to get to our jobs. Our golden years have become a waste and we are terrified!

We purchased a new 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The car is still under warranty. In 2020 my wife called and said the oil light was on. I told her to pull over and check the oil. She said there was no oil on the stick. She added two quarts of oil and it was still below the low mark on the stick. I did research and found several class action lawsuits against Hyundai regarding faulty engines dating back to approx. 2010. Here we are 8 years later and dealing with the same issue. We called our dealership and they said we needed bring in the car for an oil consumption test. They changed the oil and charged us for it. The oil consumption test consist of returning to the dealership every thousand miles for 3000 miles so they can check how much oil the engine is using. The final result was the engine burns 3/4 quarts of oil per 1000 miles and that is considered normal by Hyundai.
Hyundai recommends changing oil every 7500 miles. This means we will need to add 6 quarts of oil to the car between oil changes. Again this car is under warranty and Hyundai calls this normal. We were told however, Hyundai does sell a $600 product we could add to the oil and perhaps it would consume less oil. The bottom line is I have a car under warranty, using 6 quarts of oil between oil changes and this is normal. My 2006 Chrysler Town and Country has 314,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 7000 miles. I add 1 quart of oil between oil changes.
Simply put, do not buy a Hyundai product. Take a look on the internet and you will see a long history of engine issues that continue to plague Hyundai owners. I called Hyundai and talked to Lindsay. She was a snobby customer service rep. who told me I needed to talk to Walser to get anything done to repair this car. So goes the circle. Keep an eye open as I assume there will be another class action suite soon.

I guess any car company can have a lemon in the batch so the fact that this car sucked isn’t what’s horrible about this story. It’s how Hyundai & Hyundai finance is treating me during the process of trying to return the car and get compensation back that’s hideous. They threatened my credit for a car I hadn’t had in months and made me continue to pay for it for months. They made me collect & turn in all the paperwork needed to get my case settled myself instead of helping and accessing their own records (copy of lease, payment records, etc.).
Their entire computer/ website interface for customers fails every month and you have to call to get your profile erased so you can build another one… Only it remembers the email you used so every month you have to come up with a new email & hope this month their system for payment & account details doesn’t fail. They are offering me almost NOTHING back ($2300) even though I paid 1500 down & payments from September 2020-March 2021 at $367/month. They don’t even understand their own processes and told me that a significant amount of the money I am owed back for the car needed to be applied for at the dealership due to “separate contracts for alarm system, clear shield, & other aspects of the car’s system..." But the dealership says that’s completely wrong. Oh ya, and every 30 days the paperwork I turned in expires & takes hours of effort on my part to resubmit. Do yourself a favor and RUN from Hyundai!

Everything was great in that aspect, my salesman Ron was very nice, friendly, down to earth and not fake. I left happy, I loved my car at the time. I went to the bank for a different reason, paperwork in hand because I was going into work right after that. One of the loan officers said, "Hey you bought a new car. Congrats. You mind if I take a look at that paperwork," I said, "Sure no problem.." Well well. Long story short she seen that they snuck in a $2000 warranty that I DID NOT agree too. We all know Hyundai has the best warranty around. 100,000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first. She also seen my rate was way too high. She fixed that as well. She also saved me almost $200 a month on my payment a year off the loan.
Fast forward to today. I just got my title in. I've paid off my car this year. Title says 3,229 miles on instead of 9 miles like it was when I bought it. Also says USED when it was brand new off the showroom floor. I have a picture of the odometer the day I bought it and left with it where it says 9 MILES!! not 3, 229 miles. I now do some research and see this is something they do all the time, sell people LOANERS and or RENTALS and say that they are brand new. Plop them on the showroom floor and screw over people right and left. Not me. I'm not letting this go. NO way NO how! I work hard for my money and I will not be fooled by some car salesman prick in a Walmart suit. Thank god I took pictures of that odometer. Thank god!
I called today and spoke to a DJ who actually said "I looked up your paperwork and **." REALLY BRO? Ok. Tells me I knew I bought a loaner. I said, "A what?" "You know a rental car?" The hell I did. Joe and Ron never disclosed to me my car was a rental just like they didn't tell me about the extra warranty they threw in I didn't ask for.. Empire if your reading this... I'll be in touch...don't worry.

It is my 3rd and final deal with them, no one there is honest and they are out just to rob you, I should have gone with my gut and listened to my cousin and end my lease and bought through Carvana, I wish I knew the info I got from the person on the phone earlier but I thought I was dealing with honest people, anyways God bless them and everyone reading this and make sure you always ask all the right questions and if you have to take time or reschedule to review things before you commit to it or sign documents, do so, so you don't get trapped and tricked like I did.

My engine gave out 12/15, it's now 1/27 and it's been at the dealership for over a month now. A week after the New Year, and after various calls and check ups, I finally got an answer that my warranty would be extended on the engine. The communication has not been the best at all. They offered me a rental but only in the city that the incident happened in which is 6 hours away from home. In addition, I exhausted over $1,000 on hotel/car repairs after the incident took place. I did my due diligence to submit all the info needed for my reimbursement as soon as I found out the engine was a Hyundai issue. I submitted at least 15 documents pertaining to my proof of ownership and explained that I was stranded in an unfamiliar town for two days due to my engine failing.
I've been more than patient and am still without my vehicle, which is somewhat understanding because repairs and ordering parts take time...the funds that I lost however should not take this long to recover. Since then I've called in several times to get an update and was assigned a case manager Christina who I missed the call from and when I contacted her back two days later I haven't received a response back in a week now. I've left emails and voicemails each day, and once again contacted customer care to escalate the issue. The agents I've spoken to were thorough and seemed to care but are powerless in rectifying issue. I work 10 hours a day and when someone has an issue, I look to rectify that problem within 24hrs. We may enter another season by the time I get my money back. Once I pay this vehicle off in full, I will not be doing business with Hyundai again, and I don't recommend anyone else to. Your time and money are not valued enough.

I purchase a 2020 Hyundai Kona, in Aug 2020, and the exterior black trim around the doors, windows and rear liftgate have faded! I took it to the dealership and was accused of waxing them, thus making them fade? Does that make sense? I called the Hyundai customer care department and opened a case only to be told you waxed it and they will not do anything about it! I didn't wax them, but now I have to live with it. BEWARE OF HYUNDAI PRODUCTS! I have the 2020 Kona Ultimate with faded black trim! The family that they claim you belong once you purchase a Hyundai doesn't exist!

I purchased a 2020 Sonata Ltd 1.6 Turbo in March 2020. Since day one the engine has had a burning smell and I’m wondering how many other Sonata owners are dealing with this. I’ve taken the car in 5 times. They’ve done pressure checks for leaks, reached out to other Hyundai service centers and gone over the car with a fine tooth comb without finding the problem. I reached out to Hyundai Consumer Affairs who basically told me to live with it. So I’m asking, if there are any other 2020 Sonata owners with this problem, don’t let the service center tell you the smell will go away because it won’t. Call their Consumer Affairs at 1-800-633-5151 and lodge a complaint.
I paid almost $40k for a car that I can’t even park in my garage because the smell is so bad and Hyundai won't address my problem. Also, if you’re thinking of buying a Sonata be sure to turn it on, raise the hood and put your nose down near the radiator. If you smell that burning coolant, WALK AWAY!! So so disappointed in Hyundai.

I have been a Hyundai customer for many years. Fortunately, I have only had to call for roadside assistance a couple of times. They were courteous and prompt. Even when I had some personal technical difficulties, they were patient and understanding. They did follow up calls to make sure that the service was satisfactory and complete. Very organized and very professional.

Worst ever service:
2) No one ever picks up the phone at the dealership.
3) They force you to do the insurance from the dealership.
4) The insurance claim process takes too long (15 days for a minor scratch).

When we purchased our 2020 Venue we had no idea there were no parts. We had to wait so long for our snow tires that we got into an accident. The car has been at the autobody for over a month because Precision Hyundai says they have no parts. Heaven only knows when we will get our car returned or how long we will have to wait to get the snow tires installed. They were wonderful until we purchased the car. Then no service. I would never purchase another Hyundai.

I have asked their head office five times to answer one simple question about whether their warranty is affected if the vehicle had been modified for a disabled person. Each time they send a stupid response which appears to indicate they never even bother to read the question. Would I consider buying one of their cars? Not a chance. I would rather walk!!!

I called Bluelink using my vehicle's call button. The back of my vehicle was open because my husband was looking at the flat from a nail I had ran over (which by the way the vehicle worked great to alert me of the issue) and the gentleman on the phone expressed verbally his frustration for having an issue hearing me. He then proceeded to ask me why I had called since someone was already working on it (my husband). Then he hung up on me. Had he stayed on the line I could have explained that we couldn't find the key for the lug nuts. This was a terribly disappointing experience for the first time using this service.

I purchased a new 2018 Hyundai Kona. After 15000 miles I needed a new transmission (it was covered) however my dealership did not have loaner cars so I had to pay for a rental, pay for Uber to get the rental, pay for the uber from the rental to pick up the car. Then to my surprise at 20000 miles I needed 2 new tires (which had 0 coverage). I was told to call Good Year. They covered the tire warranty.... Well 400.00 later I had 2 new tires for no reason except they were worn out!!! Hyundai basically said, "Oh well!!!" So the wonderful warranty they shove down your throat when you are looking is not all it is cracked up to be! BEWARE.

I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.. Have had a ton of recalls that I have had to waste a ton of time at the dealership to get fixed. At little over 100,000 miles my engine started burning not leaking oil.. Brought it to Darcy hyundai in Joliet il... Told me I have to do an oil consumption test which I had to go there 6 more times to find out engine is burning oil.. Every mechanic told me I need a new engine but corporate hyundai even though they have had lawsuits over this make and model engine tells me I have to spend 1000.00 to do more tests...
Every week I have to refill oil so there is oil in the engine and few months later catalytic converter goes bad because of the oil burning which car stopped running on the expressway and had to get it towed... 1 problem after another problem... Corporate hyundai tells me I'm on my own and the converter costs over 1000.00 even tho the engine in that car was proven in court to be bad and replacing converter would not solve the original problem of the engine burning oil.... Stay away from hyundai or you will regret it.

Purchased a Hyundai Kona in 2018, just over 30G miles while in Colorado the check engine light goes on (this is August 2020). Take the car to Boulder Hyundai, they have no real idea what is wrong with it, replace injectors, debris in engine, they don't know why.... Wont release car as it could be unsafe, all 4 pistons misfiring so bad that the steering wheel pulls aggressively to the right. Supposedly they fix it, I am told if "check engine" light comes back on, stop car immediately and have it towed in, as it is dangerous to drive.
Well Sept 7th, check engine light comes on again, steering wheel pulling aggressively again due to misfiring. I stop, have car towed in. Nalley Hyundai has had my car since 9/8/20. Replaced everything again, still same problem, they are in no rush to help, they have had my car for OVER 6 weeks, no clue what's wrong, I am completely at their mercy! Still making payments on car I cannot drive, they refuse to take it back and make it right. So I am paying on a car I have not driven in over 6 weeks and there is nothing I can do about it! I will start with I love my car, it’s a beautiful blue, fits my family well and it is a delight to drive, when it worked, but I am saddened by how my newer vehicle had a catastrophic failure with all warnings and bells that are supposed to come in play, not work and leave my young child and I sit on the side of the road on a hot day, and then get the run around between corporate and the dealership. I am an essential worker and I must get to work and get my child to and from care daily. I am being told my car is listed as a rental car, um, we bought this car from a dealer for our family car. I work at an accounting firm, this car is not a rental. It gets my little family to and from point A to point B, so someone needs to correct this paperwork error which we have been asking for.
Second, I am being told that my vehicle’s warranty doesn’t move to the second owner yet. On our purchase paperwork it states in 1 place that we have the factory warranty with the purchase and in a second place it states in very large font, WARRANTY INCLUDED, the dealer will pay 100% of the labor and 100% of the parts for the balance of the factory warranty of 10 years or 100k miles. We had the vehicle towed to the dealer per what the engineer at corporate advised my husband to do. It has been a week and we are getting the run around on if anything will be fixed and if we can even get a loaner car.
We work overlapping times on the other sides of the county and cannot possibly share a vehicle. Unable to find rides every day, one of us had to miss multiple days of work dealing with this. My car is a 4 year old Hyundai Tucson that is equipped to warn you if you have low tire pressure, a door is ajar, oil is low and so on and so on. Somehow, no warning at all, and very on time oil changes, my car made an odd noise going up a hill, and then it died. The engine seized. How can something like that happen on a 4 year old car, less than 100k miles and none of its warnings throwing red flags and there wasn’t any codes either. Did I mention my husband is a mechanic. This is not normal and I don’t understand why we are getting the run around between the dealer and corporate. A loaner car should have been approved immediately along with the warranty work. I want to be able to continue enjoying my car that I’m still paying for. :(

My 2017 Hyundai ELANTRA that I bought new has 73,000 miles and the engine has blown up, We have service records HYUNDAI refuses to fix my car! It sat at the first dealership where we had it towed for SIX WEEKS after it overheated with NO WARNING! This dealership told me several different things were wrong with my car...Then they finally told me it could not be fixed it would have to have the Engine replaced. Dealership told me it WOULD be covered under warranty because we were under the 100,000. I asked to have it moved to what I thought was a more reputable dealership because of the length of time it took them to tell me what was wrong with my car and the different things they said were wrong with my car. I had lost faith in that dealership but at the time still had faith in Hyundai! We also had spent six weeks with no car!!
I was afraid dealership number one could not fix my car because they stated they only had one mechanic and were a much smaller dealership! Had car moved to second dealership who I thought was more reputable after they received it seven days later Hyundai CORPORATION is now saying it is NOT covered under warranty! So I was chastised for moving my vehicle From one dealership to the other! I have the same service records I gave to the second dealership that I gave to the first dealership where it was covered under warranty! If you can help in this matter please email me at **.
