Ford Transit extended warranty basics
The official extended warranty backed by the Ford Motor Company, Ford Protect is an auto warranty with four coverage tiers from which to choose. In addition to the Ford Transit, Protect plans are available for other Ford models, including the F-150 and the Explorer.
This extended warranty guarantees repairs using genuine Ford parts and service performed by factory-trained, certified technicians. You can take your covered vehicle to any Ford or Lincoln dealer in the U.S., Canada or Mexico for repairs, expanding its network beyond a single brand for greater accessibility.
If you opt to purchase this manufacturer’s extended warranty, you must do so within the first three years or 36,000 miles of your Transit’s life. Plans can last up to 10 years or 175,000 miles.
Ford Protect plans for Transit
A Ford Protect extended warranty offers several options, allowing you to choose the coverage that best meets your specific needs.
Regardless of your coverage level, all plans include a rental car benefit. You can receive up to $60 a day toward a rental car for up to 10 days if your Transit is in the shop overnight for a covered repair.
An additional perk is 24-hour roadside assistance, which includes the following services:
- Tire change
- Lockout services
- Fuel delivery
- Battery jump start
- Towing assistance (up to $100 per event)
- Emergency travel expense (up to $1,000 for first five days per occurrence)
- Destination assistance (up to $75)
Ford Protect offers four main levels of coverage that you may consider for your Transit:
- PowertrainCARE
- BaseCARE
- PremiumCARE
- ExtraCARE

Add-on services
While not an extended warranty, you might consider purchasing an optional Ford Premium Maintenance Plan. Also available are multiple add-ons, such as TireCARE Plus, WindshieldCARE and TheftCARE.
- Premium Maintenance Plan: This plan covers all scheduled maintenance, as well as routine inspections and normal wear and tear. Because this is a prepaid plan, you won’t owe anything extra when you take your car in for covered services.
- TireCARE Plus: You can protect your tires and wheels from road hazards such as glass, metal, potholes and debris. Services include cosmetic coverage, flat tire repair and replacement, and towing.
- DentCARE: This covers minor dents and dings.
- WindshieldCARE and WindshieldCARE Plus EV: These plans offer protection for your Transit’s windshield against everyday road hazards, such as flying rocks. It addresses the repair and removal of minor chips and cracks. Note that this plan is not available in Florida, however.
- SurfaceCARE: This plan protects both interior and exterior surfaces of your Transit, including the exterior finish, as well as interior leather, vinyl and fabric.
- TripleCARE Plus: This plan bundles three plans into one, including TireCare Plus Tire & Wheel, DentCARE and WindshieldCARE.
- TheftCARE: This plan protects your Transit in the event of theft, providing up to $5,000 in monetary reimbursement.
Exclusions
As with other extended warranties from vehicle manufacturers or third parties, Ford Protect does not cover everything.
Excluded from warranty coverage are:
- Maintenance
- Wear and tear
- Tire damage
- Physical damage or cosmetic issues
- Manufacturer recalls
When choosing an extended warranty, be sure to carefully review the terms and conditions to ensure you understand what your plan covers and what it does not.
Ford Transit warranty cost and quotes
To get an idea of how much you might spend on a warranty, we collected PremiumCARE extended warranty quotes for a 2025 Ford Transit Connect gas vehicle with 20,000 miles. Quotes were sourced from Zeigler Auto Group and may vary between dealerships and online sellers.
| Years of coverage | Mileage | Deductible | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 48,000 | $50 | $2,210 |
| 3 | 150,000 | $200 | $5,365 |
| 4 | 48,000 | $0 | $2,490 |

| 8 | 36,000 | $50 | $2,715 |

To help with the cost, Ford offers interest-free financing for up to 30 months.
While estimates can give you a rough idea of what you might pay for an extended warranty, ultimately, how much you pay depends on several factors, including:
- Vehicle age
- Vehicle mileage
- Plan choice
- Optional add-ons
Collect quotes for Ford Protect plans and from third-party warranty providers to see what you can expect to pay for warranty coverage.
Another factor that impacts an extended warranty’s cost is the deductible. You can choose from a $0, $50, $100 or $200 deductible with a Ford Protect plan. Note that used vehicles are not eligible for a $0 deductible.
You may also have the option for a disappearing deductible. This waives your deductible for covered repairs completed by the same Ford dealership that sold you the vehicle. Either way, with Ford Protect, you only pay your deductible for covered repairs, with no out-of-pocket expenses required.
Transferring and canceling your Ford Transit extended warranty
Ford Protect plans are transferable; if you sell your vehicle, you have the option to transfer your plan to the new owner. Not only is this an added convenience, but it can also increase the value of your Transit.
Transfer fees apply but vary by state. If you have a current balance on your Installment Payment Plan, you must resolve it for the transfer to be completed.
You may also cancel your Ford Transit extended warranty. Exact terms vary by state, but many states allow a refund, minus a $75 processing fee.
