CoverageX plans
CoverageX sells four vehicle warranty plans to cover a range of items. Tiers move from core mechanical coverage to comprehensive bumper-to-bumper protection:
- Essential: Designed for high-mileage cars or budget-conscious owners, this plan covers the core (and sometimes most expensive) powertrain components including the engine, transmission, drive axle and turbocharger assembly.
- Signature: A mid-tier plan that adds coverage beyond the powertrain basics, like core electrical, air conditioning and heating components, but excludes the suspension and steering.
- Premium: More extensive named‑component coverage that approaches factory-level protection on many major mechanical and electrical systems. This tier protects complex mechanical and electrical systems, suspension, fuel delivery and cooling components.
- Executive: A high-coverage exclusionary plan designed for newer vehicles and near‑comprehensive protection.

How much does CoverageX cost?
CoverageX doesn't publish standard plan prices or deductibles on its website. Instead, it says coverage and monthly payment options are customized based on the vehicle and the protection level selected.
That means the only reliable way to compare cost is through a personalized quote. If you’re shopping mainly on price, it helps to check whether the quote includes any fees, deductible differences or state-specific limits before you buy.
Discounts
CoverageX may offer discounts (for example, for first responders or teachers), but it doesn’t list any specific discounts on its site as of this publication. When you request your free, no-obligation quote, you can ask about any current promotions or discounts you may be eligible for.
CoverageX claims
CoverageX's auto warranty plans generally include a waiting period before full coverage starts. A sample vehicle service agreement we reviewed has a waiting period of 30 days and 1,000 miles from the contract start date and starting odometer reading. After those are fulfilled, you can file a claim at any time.
The basic process for filing a claim starts with finding a repair shop certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Your mechanic contacts CoverageX directly to start the authorization process and to handle payment for covered repairs. Once repairs are finished, you pay only your deductible and any non-covered costs.
CoverageX exclusions
In general, auto service contracts don’t cover routine wear and tear or improper maintenance. Each CoverageX auto plan has its own detailed list of exclusions, so exact limits depend on your plan and vehicle. For example, the following items are excluded from the Essential plan sample contract:
- Issues still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty or recall campaigns.
- Damage from lack of manufacturer’s required maintenance.
- Damage related to collisions, theft, vandalism or “acts of God” like floods or earthquakes.
- Damage caused by misuse or abuse (including negligence, modification and tampering).
- Towing or pulling damage when the vehicle wasn’t properly equipped by the manufacturer for the purpose.
- Pre-existing conditions, or failures that began before your coverage start date.
- Storage costs, diagnostic fees, shop supplies, lodging, food, sales tax and other additional surcharges.
- Claims received more than 60 days from the authorization date.
For a full list of specific exclusions, review your individual contract.
