    The AmeriFreight rep was nice. She was very professional and helpful. The first quote was very low, but in the end, it was $500 more. But it still was lower than other companies. On the delivery, the company called me to tell me that the car would be ready the next day. So, that took me by surprise. They wanted to confirm where I would pick it up and I just confirmed it. I also asked them to let me know in advance if they would get there or not because on the pick-up day, they took a little bit longer than we expected.

    The quote that was provided by AmeriFreight was completely inaccurate. They quote you a reasonable price, and then in the fine print, the terms and conditions, they say that's an estimate and it can be whatever the market dictates. Then they make you wait five days and the quote was 100% off. The quote was twice as much as they quoted.

    I had a good experience with AmeriFreight. Sydney, the rep, was really nice, attentive, just on top of things, and care a lot about my experience. Anytime I needed anything, she was very quick to help me out. The guy who picked up my car was awesome. He was super friendly and nice. He seemed really honest and did a thorough check of my car. He was willing to roll with the punches and correspond with a couple of different people in delivering my car to the destination. Because I wasn't in town he ended up doing the rest of the delivery with my boyfriend. He was really nice to him. They told me it would take a week to 10 days, but it took him 4 days.     The vehicle got here in one piece and there were no damages but the company that transported it missed the deadline. The vehicle didn't come until two days after they were supposed to deliver. There was also no follow-up there. I had to follow up on that. That kind of was a little nerve racking of not getting the vehicle in when I thought I should have gotten it already.

    AmeriFreight was the best price and it had good reviews. Also, they were super helpful and transparent about how the whole process works, in general, as a consumer looking to ship my car. The communication was great. I had help at every step. The driver contacted me 24 hours before to give me a ballpark. And we were in touch that same morning for pickup two hours and an hour before pickup. I live on a street. It's small and has low-hanging power lines. So, we determined the closest pickup spot where their truck wouldn't get into a pickle. Also, the quote was fair, especially hearing from other friends who shipped their cars similar distances.

    The transport was great and straightforward. Every time the driver came to a stop, he would always give me updates. I wasn't aware of this, but there was a leak and the leak dropped oil on the other vehicles underneath it. He took it upon himself to clean all the vehicles. I got out there and helped him out a little bit because I felt bad. He was very professional. He had a very positive attitude throughout the whole thing.     I contacted two or three companies for transport service and settled with AmeriFreight in the end. I held out for a price because I had time and they were the ones that brought a carrier at that price. Customer service was fine and I was impressed with the trucking company. When the BMW Z4 was delivered, the truck couldn't turn around on the cul-de-sac, so the delivery had to be done a block or two away. The only thing was I was surprised because I gave a credit card to AmeriFreight and I thought it was for the whole thing. But it was just for their commission. The person that received it at the other end was caught totally off guard when it was COD. That shouldn't have ever happened and that embarrassed me. I could have managed if I had known about it.

    It was an excellent experience with Amerifreight. I've never done this before. But Harry, the rep, explained everything in a way that was so clear the first time. He was so helpful in filling me in. AmeriFreight was not the most affordable carrier, but my situation was unique. The car I was buying was coming from off the beaten path. Truckers didn't want to go to San Juan, Texas. They wanted to pick up in Austin, Dallas or Houston, in a big city and he told me that. I had a little trouble communicating with the driver though. There was a language barrier. But ultimately, they got exactly to the house, where they had to, and it was good. They also called ahead of time and were also on time.

    I'm quite dissatisfied with my experience with Amerifreight. After contacting you guys for a quote everything went smooth until I sent the first payment. From that point on, communications with my agent were very scarce and not helpful. I was given a 3 day window for my car to be picked up by West Coast Auto Transport. Those 3 days passed without hearing anything from my agent and I started to get worried because my moving date was getting closer. Tried calling the agent about 10 times when those 3 days passed to no avail.

    Then I received a text from the agent asking me how the pick-up was even though my car was still in my garage. At this point, I wondered why did I pay for a service from this agent and all they've done was give me a phone number of the person that would pick up my car and go silent right after. After that, I decided to not contact Amerifreight anymore for answers and dealt only with the driver. A couple of months have passed and I still have not heard from my agent to check on how the delivery went. I'm a travel nurse and I will be very reluctant to use Amerifreight again.

    AmeriFreight's rep gave me all the information that I needed and made sure that I was able to get my car picked up and delivered within the time frame. I heard from the driver. It's funny because I got a confirmation on a Thursday that my car would be picked up Friday and that was the next day. So, it was a quick turnaround. I gave the driver my family's information in Arizona and he connected with them to give them information on the pickup. The driver was great at communicating with my family in Arizona in terms of time for pickup and updating when he was behind. That went well.

    He also contacted me a few hours before he delivered the car just to let me know, "Hey, it's early. Are you able to accept the delivery today." I said, "Yes," and he gave me an estimated time. And when he was running behind, he let me know, "Hey, I'm 20 minutes behind. Are you still available?" And I said, "Yes." So, communication was great. My car was dropped off a day early, which was nice. The quote went up a bit, which wasn't too much. It was just a few hundred. And gas prices went up during that time, so it made sense. The whole process was great and I received my car with no issues.

    AmeriFreight moved the motorcycles for me. At first, they were a little confusing to work with. But after a while, once I realized that they basically take the order, and then they had to contact a transport company. Then it was the transporter who was going to move this stuff. Sometimes I found the communications between AmeriFreight and the transporter weren't exactly what I was expecting. I was expecting them to know more about what the transporter was up to. So it took about three calls to AmeriFreight before we got that straightened out. After that, everything went fairly smoothly. The transporter contacted me and everything worked out.

    My godson and daughter used AmeriFrieght to move a car from Washington to Tennessee. They gave me the rep's phone number and suggested that I use him. I did that when I did a transport from Washington State to Texas. The car was supposed to get to me in three or four days, which was on a Friday, but it didn't get to me until that Wednesday. The driver came across through the ice and snow and it took many days more than we expected. The driver never called us to apprise us of his progress. That was extremely frustrating. I called three or four times. The rep, Harry, on the other hand, called us. He was very good. The driver delivered the car at night and it was so dirty when we got it. There was really no way to tell if there were any problems, scratches, or anything else with the car. It's not a brand new car but it felt ridiculous taking the car and taking pictures and saying it was okay.

    I had AmeriFreight transport a truck and an SUV. I liked their reviews and just word of mouth about them. The quote was a little bit cheaper too. Customer service was very transparent and informative. Any question I had, they were able to answer. Their rep was very professional. The transport took about 30 hours total. During the delivery of the cars, we had to meet the driver somewhere because where we were dropping them off was a gated community. We ended up meeting the driver in a mall parking lot because he didn't have the paperwork to come to the gate.

    Both of the vehicles were delivered. Before they took off to come to San Antonio, I asked if I needed a copy of the sheet of paper saying the cars were in perfect condition. The driver instructed me not to worry about it. We got down here and there was a big crack in the windshield of my wife's car. When I went to do to file the claim, the claim insurance company was unable to do it because I did not have the paperwork showing that the car was inspected beforehand and everything was perfectly fine. Ultimately, we couldn’t file the claim.

    Everything went smoothly with AmeriFreight. The only thing I didn't really care for was they brought up the driver's fee. They quoted the 1,211 and then right towards the end, they tacked on another $488 for the driver. So it brought my bill up to 1,648, which, at that point, I couldn't do a whole lot. It was delivered earlier than the estimate was, which was fine by me. But I was a little surprised when all of a sudden, two days before I thought it was going to show up, the driver called and said, he’d be in another five hours. But it was delivered on a Sunday, and on Monday, I was gonna do a final prep with the bank to get the payments set up. But they were easy to work with and they kept up on everything other than when the car was picked up. But I know some of that was a little bit out of their hands and in the hands of the drivers.

    The AmeriFreight worker was fine, the issue was the contractors they used to deliver my Lexus. They were rude, unprofessional, and lacked effective communication. They delivered my car 1 week early when the agreement was to drop it off later in the month. From there, they weren’t available to meet when we finally arrived to Washington and we spent multiple weeks trying to get my car back. My Lexus spent weeks in some unknown lot and it appears they may have also drove it for leisure during that time. Very unimpressed and would demand a refund if able.

    I will never use this company to ship another vehicle ever. Started with a quote for around $1500 (subject to change is reasonable) and ended up being quoted $1900. I booked the freight with a pickup date of February 24th and estimated drop off on February 26th. I was advised of insurance options for my vehicle and obliged to pay for extra coverage. Cindy had told me that the driver will do inspection with the pickup and signed upon receiving (I was 1250 miles away, so family had to do this for me).

    I was assigned to Arthur's Trucking LLC and given his number to contact for pick up. I contacted him on the 22nd about my vehicle and he informed me that he would be in likely Friday due to snow closures (reasonable at the time). The 24th comes around and no word from the driver, so I call him. He tells me that he will be able to get the vehicle Saturday (26th) and have it here Sunday, as he has two drivers. Friday passes and Saturday morning I call him again to find out a status update, it seems to be of no concern to this person to communicate with me on when I will have my car picked up. He informs me that his is a a repair shop in LA, it would have been courteous to communicate with a customer but that is beyond the scope of this middle school educated (at best) Neanderthal.

    Sunday morning, I contact him again and am informed that he is in LA making other deliveries etc. before he bothers to come out to pick up my vehicle, as he proceeds to tell me he doesn't know what time he will be in town to pick up my vehicle. I get a text (my first ever text from him) simply stating "I am 15 minutes out." He finally shows up and when asked by my brother about the vehicle inspection form for the insurance, he is clueless. It was Sunday night at 7:30pm and I could not call Amerifreight about this joke of a driver they hired. My brother (a certified master mechanic) proceeds to call me after my vehicle is loaded and tells me the man burned my clutch up bad and to be advised.

    Monday morning rolls around and still no word. I had extended my rental car by 4 days at this point waiting for my car. Tuesday morning, I call Cindy about this driver, which I informed her I was furious about this whole ordeal and about the lack of this guy’s professionalism or general manners. Cindy tells me that she will call him to see where he is at and then later in evening will call me back after she has spoken to management about some options, as Amerifreight said I will have to deal with his company for any grievances (this was unknowingly and unwillingly the last time I would ever hear from Cindy).

    The "company" in question is one driver working from his apartment. Arthur (unjustifiably upset) decides to call me after Cindy contacted him and begins to try and grill me about contacting AmeriFreight. I informed him that I am very upset with him and his whole entire "business," which led me to find out that he was just in Las Vegas (4 hours from pickup location) 34 hours after picking up my vehicle. I had choice words with him over his conduct.

    Wednesday morning comes around and my vehicle is finally here after 5 days of rental car extensions, which to my anger had been damaged. I was missing my antenna, to which he responded, "it was like that when I picked it up." This man accused me and my brother of being liars. He continued to maintain that he was in constant communication with me, which he then changed to my brother when I showed him my call history and text history.

    I challenged him to show me the call and text string for my brother and like usual the coward had an excuse. However, I had already pulled the screen shots of his "communication" with my brother. I showed that my brother had to contact him after I gave my brother this guy's number and that he never sent a single text to my brother. He then proceeds to show me texts for communication with other people and was dumfounded (not like it was much of a feat for his underdeveloped mind) when I told him that other people are not me and your communication to them does not equate to communication with me.

    I immediately tried to contact Cindy (through text, call and email) about the interaction and an appropriate course of action for this extremely disrespectful, expensive, and inconvenient situation. My attempts at communication had been hollow and Cindy had ceased all communication with me regarding any of this. I cannot express the level of detest I have for businesses that conduct business in a manner that steals from a customer and leaves them to fend for their own. AmeriFreight contracted me out to an incompetent child, and you refuse to make this situation right.

    I did a couple of quotes, and AmeriFreight's price was right, but they don't respect your time. They told my friend they would be there at a certain time, then they said they were gonna be late but then no call, no show one night. She went to work the next day, then they said, “We're 30 minutes away.” My friend explained she was at work, but they said, “Okay. Well, if you don't come home right now, then you're gonna have to wait another week for your delivery. Because we're not going to pick it up within another four days.”

    That's exactly how it was when they dropped the car off. They told me 6:00 to 9:00 pm. I had to cancel my hair appointment and take a $150 cancellation fee for them not to come between 6:00 to 9:00 pm. When I called the lady and said, “Can I at least get reimbursed for my cancellation fee?” She told me that it's in the contract that they don't have to do what they say and that I need to be at home during the window that we provide whether they come during that time or not. No one ever apologized.

    AmeriFreight is not a broker that takes the initiative to look and make sure that the transportation companies that they're choosing are legitimate. They're just, “Oh, if you have truck, you can do it.” With the car company, “Oh, but you need the car, right? Cool. You're at my mercy.” That's how all these people operate. At the end of the day, they see good customer service as a bonus and not a requirement. It was absolutely terrible, but at least they made the car there in one piece.

    I signed up, and communication was very quick. I worked with Sydney. I scheduled a pickup and paid for insurance for it, but I had to change the pickup due to my schedule. In that sense, AmeriFreight did everything right. The only thing was, I asked for a refund 'cause I didn't know when I was gonna do my next pickup. It was a $400 deposit, then a week later, I did another pickup and I was charged for insurance twice. It's okay though. It happens and I understand where AmeriFreight is coming from that.

    The transport took a week, and the trucker was good. We were texting, and he would keep me updated. Everything went well, except when I initially put a quote in, it told me $1,000 and when we went to get everything done, it came at around 1,400. AmeriFreight could be more accurate with appraisals from the start. Other than that, everything was phenomenal. They did a great job. That's why I referred two of my other friends who are moving to use them. Compared to the other shipping companies I tried to use, AmeriFreight is able to get truckers quicker.     My interactions with AmeriFreight were fine. A little frustrating though. The company that hauled the car ruined my whole experience and I blame AmeriFreight a little for that for not screening the companies that are taking these bids a bit better. The car was picked up at the dealership, and that went fine, but the delivery was a complete and utter nightmare. The hauling company did not plan accordingly. They tried to deliver in the middle of a blizzard and the two drivers they sent did not speak a bit of English, so there was a large communication barrier.

    The only way we could communicate was I had to call the dispatcher. The dispatcher hung up with me, called the driver back, then had to hang up, and then call me back. It was a giant game of phone tag with those two people standing right there. It took two and a half hours to get the car unloaded in the snow, then they just dumped it on the side of the road. I also ended up paying $100 more than I was originally quoted. It was a horrible experience. That's why I've been trying so hard waiting to get back to this company. I thought, “Oh, these people want to hear my feedback. I'm gonna give it to them.”

    The reps at AmeriFreight were pretty responsive. They answered my questions and they helped me out. The only thing I was looking for was an updated receipt or order for the brokerage fee, which I never got. Also, the initial quote I got was 1,200 and the final cost was 2,100. They conveniently left out the broker fee and then when I got somebody to ship the vehicle, the quote came in at about 1,700 bucks. Those two together almost doubled what the initial quote was. I'm sure it's somewhere in the fine print somewhere that I didn't see that it's likely to change and there's a broker tree that isn't seen here. That was disappointing.     I liked Millie. She was nice and had great customer service. And there was a situation where the original person that was supposed to come pick up the car couldn't pick up the car. So, they did a good job trying to reach out to me and letting me know and find me another transporter. Also, I got the car at the time that I wanted it.

    The only drawback that I saw was the doubling of the price from the quote that AmeriFreight gave us, which I don't know why they gave us that quote. They quoted us 800 something. And by the time it was over, it was double the price. I asked, "Why did they do that?" And I spoke to the lady, "How does the pricing work? Because the original price was 800 something." And she said, "We quote them the lower end of the price on purpose, and the dispatcher makes the rules and their own price." There was nothing that they could do about it. They were just, "This is just how it is. We quote the lower price, and whatever pricing is there."

    I thought AmeriFreight would to be the ones that would pick up the car, then drop it off. But when I found out they were brokers, I could've just called an actual moving company themselves, and saved myself 300 or 400, or whatever amount of money it was. I didn't get the right price, and I didn't really need to use them.

    What they did was I had to pay the booking fee. It was 300 bucks, which is just to pay AmeriFreight for making a phone call that I could have made. And they dropped the car off, I had to pay them in cash the rest of the money, which was $1,300. So, $1,600 total. So, why not just quote me the 1,300 something in the first place? And even if it's just a phone call, why would it be $300 for a phone call? It got the job done, but would I use them again? No. Because when the guy gave me the receipt, he has his information on the receipt. So, I’m gonna call him directly. I'm not gonna go through AmeriFreight or any other broker. Why do I need to go through a broker? It's weird.

    The young lady I talked to with AmeriFreight seemed very willing to help, amicable, and friendly. She knew the business, what I was going through and what might happen.     This is the third year I've used AmeriFreight to transport my wife's vehicle from Chicago to Scottsdale. She goes out there for the winter, so she needs her vehicle out there.     I was not real happy with the way my experience went. The day came and went that somebody was supposed to pick up the car, and I still had not heard from the girl that had been helping me. So I sent several emails and text messages to her. A couple of days later, she got back to me and said, “Yes. Somebody should be coming out tomorrow," which literally was the last day I was in Washington. They had over a month to work with, but they cut it down to the last couple of minutes. So I felt like it was low priority for them.

    There was a little bit of damage to the car when it was delivered but I expected there would be, hauling it from one side of the country to the other. The driver's mirror glasses cracked and there were two little dents on the rear bumper. It's a BMW so it has a rubberized type bumper scan.     Originally, I had the transport scheduled with another carrier and they apparently bid it too low. They were jerking me around every day, telling me there was nobody out there that wanted to take it yet. I finally got fed up with that, went back into the market and found AmeriFreight. I called them up and explained the situation. They told me that the quote was at least $500 too low and it could be even higher. I asked what would it take to get it done and when could they get it done. They said at a reasonable rate, they could get it done pretty quick.

    AmeriFreight was able to get me somebody pretty fast. The driver picked up the car and were supposed to deliver by the 20th of January. A few days earlier than that, they called me and said they were coming into town and if I was ready in an hour. I was already out and about so I told them I could do it later that afternoon. I never heard back from them and never heard from them the next day. The following day, I heard from them. They said they were going to drop the vehicle off that night. I was a little upset. I did have to get back with the broker on a couple different occasions and let them know that this guy was not responding to my calls or texts.     I recently needed to move another vehicle from New York to Florida. Since I had a previous relationship with AmeriFreight, I reached out to them by email and phone. They said that I might get a discount because I was a repeat customer. The agent that picked up my email started explaining the process to me and then said that because I've worked with Harry before, he'd hand me off to Harry, which was seamless. What was great was they didn't just say, “Oh, Harry's your guy. You'll have to wait for him to call you back.” They actually started to work on it. The communication was very effective.

    AmeriFreight is acting like a broker and they post things to the big board, and then drivers bid on it, which I ended up learning more about how this works. Also, what I found is this is a little bit of a commodity. All brokers do that, unless somehow you're working with the broker shipper and they do it in-house. But this is not an in-house shipping company. It was some third party.

    There was a mix-up with the title of the vehicle because it was handed to the driver and somebody somewhere in the process, which was nothing to do with AmeriFreight. Since it was purchased from an auction house, the people at that auction house should not have given the title to the driver. It was supposed to come in the mail to me later and so I ended up having to mail the title back. There was another complication here because I was working with a broker on the auction side in order to buy it from the auction because I don't have a dealer's license and then I had to work with AmeriFreight as a broker to figure out the best way to ship it. Then one of the challenges when working with an auction house is that the driver may have to sit there for up to two hours to get all the paperwork. The driver never complained about any of that or never asked for more money, and so whatever driver did the job, they were good about it.

    The other thing is that the way these systems typically work is you pay AmeriFreight a deposit with a credit card and then to get “the best deal,” you pay the driver cash on delivery. My instincts tell me AmeriFreight keeps the credit card payment deposit and the driver keeps the cash and that gives some sense of where the monies are going. In my example, it was $1,200 shipping fee. The whole cost was $1,200. Approximately 300 was the AmeriFreight deposit, and the driver was given 900 in cash. 25% for the brokerage fee is pretty hefty. But they were the correct rate. I had quoted with other companies and they came in at the same price.

    The key to a first-time person who has never shipped a vehicle before is to understand the difference between working with a shipping broker versus working with a shipping carrier. If he's able to speak directly with the company that owns the trucks and pays the drivers, then it may result in different expectations than if he's working with a company like AmeriFreight that is in the business of going and finding the best driver at the time.

    Everything was good as far as setting up. The process of AmeriFreight was fine, once I understood everything. I've never done this before. So I did not understand at the time what the overall cost was going to include and that was the only complaint that I had. But the shipping went okay. There was an issue with the picking up, though. They were supposed to pick up on a certain day and they didn't pick up until three days later. I was buying from someone that was selling their house, and the car was in their house that was being sold. They needed to evacuate the house to make sure everything was cleaned out.

    Luckily, I had given a range of dates to pick up. But the person was not near there, they had to drive a couple of hours to get there.     I talked to AmeriFreight to get things set up and the guy that I dealt on their end was fantastic. He was super helpful, did everything that he could and everything was really quick. However, I had to talk to the company that did the tow, and their customer service was crap. The driver that was hired, first off, wasn't able to do his own work, and it cost me a lot of money and a massive amount of a hassle having to supply my people, friends and family to do most of his job. My mother had to miss part of a day of work and I had to have another friend come over as well.

    The driver's truck and trailer equipment were absolute crap. His truck was completely destroyed, windows busted out and I don't even think it should be on the road. His trailer, I had to have people here to pick up and lower the ramp of the trailer because it wasn't properly operational. He also didn't have ways to get my car off the trailer, so I had to have people here to help push it off the trailer. And he would only help as far as to get it into the middle of the driveway. Now, the car is blocking the driveway and I have to have a tow truck come to move it out of the way from where he put it. It was absolutely horrendous, one of the worst experiences I've ever had to deal with.

    Every time I kept telling the guy, “Hey, it's not my responsibility to do y’all’s job. It's not my fault y’all’s equipment isn't working properly, so I shouldn't have to be paying full price when y’all’s equipment is the stuff that's crap.” When I told the company that did the tow I wanted the price cut down a couple hundred bucks, they threw a big conniption and threatened calling the cops on me. 9 times out of 10 whenever I talked to them, I couldn’t understand them. They were speaking some sort of Baltic language to us.

    I could have just had my guy help get my car off the trailer and then said, “Screw them,” not raise the ramp back up. One guy wouldn't be able to do it by himself, so they would've had to bring another driver all the way from California to get the ramp up. At that point, I could have just told the guy, “Okay. If you want help getting the ramp up, I got a supply of people. That’s gonna be $500 right there. Pay up right now.” Overall, working with AmeriFreight was plenty good. Just be wary of the transport people.

    They were easy to work with the first time I called. They were responsive every time I called with a question or an update to what I was trying to do with the shipment. They passed me off to the driver who kept in communication daily. But I wish I had more notice on when I could have expected a driver to pick up my car. They told me it would two to three days before the actual pickup. But because I was moving, I had to have the car picked up at a certain time and date. If it didn't happen, it would have messed up the whole move plan. So, it was like, “Hey, we can’t guarantee you a contractor is going to pick your car up but we think one will.” It was weird. But, this is definitely the company I would do business with again if I needed to move any kind of goods or service.

    I transported a Hyundai for 3,000 miles via AmeriFreight. They got back to me the fastest and initially, they had the cheapest quote, but it ended up being the same price as everyone else's. Aside from that, the people at AmeriFreight were excellent. I worked with Cindy and she was knowledgeable. I was going to do a motorcycle and a car, then I pushed it and I changed the location, and she always said there was no problem and got to me fairly fast with the new updated quote.

    But the company that actually shipped my car was horrible. I had to continuously call them and nobody preemptively told me anything so everything I learned was all because I investigated it. Then, it was very hard to get in contact with them as no one was answering. Every time someone called me or if someone picked up the phone, they'd say that someone would call me later. I also couldn't even get the right person on the phone. Every time someone called me, it was from a new number and person. So, it was complicated all around and it was really frustrating.

    Aside from that, they were supposed to come either Monday or Tuesday to pick up my car and I was hounding them because I was not even in the area. So I had to have someone waiting on me who was waiting on them and I had people asking me when were they going to be there and I didn't know because I couldn't get in contact with them. That was a scheduling nightmare for me personally and they ended up coming on Wednesday. It was supposed to be between one or two days, and they came on a day later than even that. But it wasn't AmeriFreight’s fault.

    Then, I had to meet the driver for the delivery and my vehicle arrived in the exact number of days they said it would. The final cost was very expensive. I paid 1,700 and that sucks, but it was competitive and there wasn't another service that could have done it for less. And that was not AmeriFreight’s fault. It's because of the inflation right now and the cost of gas. Two years ago, I shipped a Range Rover from the same place to exactly the same destination and it cost 1,200. A Range Rover is the heaviest car in the market and it's worth $40,000 more than the car that I recently transported through AmeriFreight.

    AmeriFreight did a great job of providing a quote and scheduling the transport of my autos (2 trucks and a classic bug) across the country. The vehicles were delivered on time, as promised. However, a few weeks after the delivery, I noticed that the hood of the bug had been damaged and dented, and apparently someone had tried to hammer out the dent. Fixing the damage will require some bodywork and new paint. Unfortunately, this wasn't noticed by me at the time of delivery, so I'm out of luck for any reimbursement. This problem was not the fault of AmeriFreight, but it was dishonest of the hauler they hired to hide the damage and not to tell me about it. So, understand that AmeriFreight hires out the transport of your vehicle to haulers. The haulers, apparently, do not take responsibility for their work.

    We were under a tight, tight timeframe to get the car transported so the stakes were high. Our experience with AmeriFright was totally good. I got a really nice lady on the phone and she handled my fears and explained what it is they do. She explained that they're a market intermediary and they interface between truck drivers and the public. They understand what you want and then they put it up for a bid. She said, “Okay, let me take down what you need and we'll put that in the quote, and we'll see what comes up.”

    She gave me a quote and I thought, “Oh, that can't be. This is too cheap.” I want to pay the market standard amount so I get the full service I'm asking for. So I said that to her. I said, “What's missing here?” And she said, “Nothing's missing. This is the quote. We got it from a supplier in California, a trucker here.” And I said, “Okay. So this is the date I want the car. Is that clear?” And she said, “Yes.”

    I gulped and paid the full amount upfront. It freaks me out that I have to pay the full amount upfront or come with a check. I have to come with cash in hand to meet the truck driver at the destination. That seemed crazy and I didn't want to do that. I wanted them to be on the hook to deliver my car by paying them upfront. I preferred to pay upfront on Visa even though it was a little more. At least I had the protection of Visa and my particular card gives me 2% back so it ended up being a premium of 4%, which I swallowed. It was okay because then I know if they don't deliver, I could call up Visa and get them on it and they would do something for me.

    In addition to my standard service, I wanted Auto-Protect Plus, which is where they basically give you a little insurance policy. If your car is damaged, they will pay that damage. The pay upfront and the extra special insurance ended up being another $250. The total bill was around 1,650 to have my car transported across the country. This was not a fee I relished paying, but I had to do it and it solved my problem.

    Millie, my contact at AmeriFreight, said, “I'm now going to turn over your communication to CA Car Transport”. On my own initiative, I called them up. English was not their first language, which is why they probably make use of AmeriFreight. But they were very polite. They said, “What's your order number?” They looked it up and they said, “Yup, yup. We see it. You're going to get a call from the driver in two days.”

    After that call, I got a call. The man said, “Hello. This is your driver for your car.” He said, “Yeah, I'm in New York State. I've got a couple of drop-offs and then I'll be over to see you. It'll be around dinner time. And they're going to tell you where to meet me.” The office called me and said exactly where to meet him, which was in a shopping mall. And I couldn't believe they picked that place because it's a very busy grocery store parking lot. So I'm sitting there in the parking area and lo and behold, this guy Steve drives in with this gigantic truck. It was like watching a cruise liner pull into a pond.” And he said to me, “Who picked this place?” And I said, “Talk to your office.” He was driving this enormous thing totally expertly and he told me what I needed to do, which was to line up and he would drive the car on the truck. He gets my keys, we sign the paperwork, and he drives it on the truck. Within 15 minutes, he was gone.

    The rep I dealt with on the phone was great, and the driver was awesome as well. I have a long block, and he walked two blocks down to get my car because he had some expensive cars on top and drove the one up there. He thought I was gonna walk, and I said, "No." He said, "Well, just get in your car and follow me up there." I drove behind him. He went up there and showed me how he was putting them on a car and where he was gonna put my car at and it wouldn't be moving from there. We talked a little and he was easy to talk to. I helped him back out into the street and back over to the Route 8, and off he and I went. My daughter received the car, and she had to go to a spot 15 minutes away from her apartment, because of the trees. He didn't want to mess up the expensive cars on top, which I understood.     The ending cost was a bit higher. The first driver just looked at the car and didn’t talk much or ask much questions. And just said, “Your car's overweight so you pay me 100 now and you should pay 150 at delivery.” I wanted to get a guarantee. So I said, “I'll pay 150 at delivery.” He took it. The driver who dropped it off was great. He just said, “Hey, this is what your cost was, plus 150.” I inspected the car and signed off my paperwork. So, that was easy.

    Everything went well and I appreciate the help for my first time. But once I got here and talked to family, and I checked Splendid’s website, they said, “You don't need to go through third parties and all that.” So I spent extra money than I needed to using AmeriFreight when I could have just called Splendid Transportation myself and set it up. If AmeriFreight would do the service, they should lower the cost a bit. People know what they are doing. They will find the companies right away. But if this is their first time, they probably will go through a third party vendor.

    AmeriFreight was great. They were the quickest among the companies I dealt with to get somebody to get my car down here. The transport was from New York to South Carolina and everything pretty much went according to schedule. There was a time crunch. We were getting out of New York on the 5th and they contacted me on the 4th. A guy then came the same day to pick up the car.

    My only note for AmeriFreight's improvement is for them to be more responsive. My salesman went on vacation and never called me or said anything about it. It was the same when he came back from vacation. It took me contacting him. And when transporting a vehicle, don't put your car out there to one company then contact another. I found out that everybody's in the same pool so you could technically be bidding on yourself. That's what AmeriFreight told me too.

    We had an issue finding a driver. Then once we found one, having them pick up on time and drop off on time, I had no information from them. But, it wasn't AmeriFreight's fault.
