Bay Alarm Medical alert systems

Bay Alarm Medical costs and features

Bay Alarm offers four different medical alert devices: SOS All-In-One 2, SOS Micro, SOS Smartwatch and SOS Home. Monthly costs start at $27.95 for the SOS Home and increase to a starting cost of $39.95 for the SOS Smartwatch.

You can add fall detection to Bay Alarm Medical’s SOS Micro, SOS All-In-One, SOS Smartwatch, and cellular SOS Home packages for an extra $10 per month.

We like that there’s no charge if you trigger the alarm by mistake. However, it does cost extra for a warranty plan ($2.95 per month or $4.95 per month, depending on the device). With the warranty, you get one free device replacement per contractual year and 50% off accessory replacements, so it might be worth it.

How Bay Alarm Medical works

Bay Alarm home medical alert systems consist of a base station and wearable help button, which can be in the form of a pendant or wristband. When a person experiences an emergency or requires assistance, they press the help button on the wearable device. The company also sells several mobile alert systems that don’t require being in proximity to a base station.

Once you’re connected to the monitoring center, the operators dispatch appropriate assistance, such as contacting family members, friends or emergency services.

Medical alert systems are designed to provide assistance and peace of mind, particularly for older adults or people with medical conditions who may require immediate help in case of an emergency. With fall detection, the device can automatically detect a fall and trigger an alert to the monitoring center, even if you’re unable to press the help button.

reviewer in Minnesota purchased a Bay Alarm system for her mother and was happy with the response she received after falling.

“She had fallen in her home and was stuck between the chair and table,” she said. “Bay Alarm contacted us immediately and we were able to get to her promptly and help her. They stayed on the line and relayed from us to her on the estimated time for us to arrive. It helped relieve her anxiety knowing someone was on the line with direct communication.”

Bay Alarm Medical caregiver app

Bay Alarm’s app (included with SOS Micro, SOS Smartwatch and SOS All-In-One 2) lets you get notifications, track your loved one’s location and more. A reviewer in Pennsylvania highlighted that multiple people can log in to it at the same time — a convenient feature for aging parents who have multiple children.

The app also lets you make changes to your emergency contacts and home entry information, and it sends you notifications when the system’s battery is low.

reviewer in Louisiana said the tracking app is “kinda confusing,” but a reviewer in California said tech support is very helpful if you contact them with any questions about it.

Still have questions?

Is Bay Alarm Medical a good company?

Bay Alarm Medical is a good option for older adults who want a wearable help button. Upfront costs are a little higher than other top medical alert companies, but we like that Bay Alarm has a 15-day risk-free trial, no long-term contracts and GPS location tracking for no additional fee. It’s also one of our top picks for medical alerts with fall detection.

Bay Alarm is easy to set up and has excellent service, but “the device is sensitive so it takes a little getting used to find the best spot to wear, carry or attach it,” according to a reviewer in New York.

Enrolling with Bay Alarm was very easy. The person we talked to was very helpful. We haven't had to use the alarm, which I'm counting is a good thing, but we had one day where mom fell. I wasn't home. The alarm contacted emergency right away, and it worked. It did what it's supposed to do. Then that night, it sensed the fall. It didn't have a full fall but it sensed the fall. That, to me, was special.

Mom has a button that she wears around her neck. She feels comfortable with it. She knows what the button is for. If I say, “What happens if you fall?”, she'll say, “I'm gonna push my button.” She knows that if she does that, Bay Alarm will call me or call an ambulance. They move on it quickly. We don't use Bay Alarm a lot, but when we've needed it, it's come through.

The guy from Bay Alarm Medical who we talked to was great and helpful. My mom chose the pendant. But she doesn't care for it because it's a rope around her neck, and every time she leans down, it gets in the way of everything. When we bought it, they didn't say that it has to be exposed, because she'd rather have it under her sweater or her blouse. She has it on right now, it looks like a cowbell on her. I wanted her to have something on her wrist, and she wanted something around her neck. I don't know if somebody else had a kind of pendant, and she likes the looks of that, but Bay Alarm didn't have anything like that that would work. So, she has this goofy thing around her neck where it looks like a car remote or a garage door remote and it's bigger than those.

Bay Alarm needs to make a smaller one. Things have improved so much getting smaller and smaller. It's great for a huge person or an old man, but it's not the right thing for a for a petite woman. But I'm glad my mom has it because she lives independently. I just got to keep making sure she wears it, but she doesn't like wearing it because it's ugly. Probably the reason Bay Alarm said, “Don't have it underneath your clothing,” because they want to be sure she can get to it. But I said, “Mom, you still can grab your sweater, your blouse, or press it against your body, it's still gonna work.” I get notifications when the batteries is dying, which is fine. Originally, I didn't want to be involved in it. Later, I said, “It's probably good, because I get the notice, and I call my mom up and go, ‘You want to put it on the charger?’” She would say, “Oh, okay.”

My dad’s friends use Bay Alarm and when my dad fell, I bought him the medical alert device. The person who set us up was phenomenal and perfect to talk to. I called first before getting my father involved to ask questions, and the rep gave me her direct line. I was able to call her back with my dad and she was able to answer all of his questions. Then, he had somebody he could call if he had issues. He could go anywhere with the device. He goes for coffee three times a week with his friends and he shops by himself because he lives on his own. He is out and about, and the device can work anywhere. We had questions about the battery once and we called Bay Alarm, and the reps got right back to us. The customer service is fantastic and the product is great. The price is comparable or less than what I researched. So, it's good. People should give them a call today.

My experience has been great. There are many systems out there but Bay Alarm Medical came back with the most positive comments from current users. I also went back and did some pricing comparisons. I did several phone calls with the salespersons I talked to. They answered some of my questions, and I moved on and looked at a couple of others and had more questions. I called Bay Alarm's rep back and I got those answers. So through my thorough research, I determined that Bay Alarm Medical was the best for the money.

Right after we got the Bay Alarm, it was put to use. We installed it on a Thursday. We did the test call to make sure it was set up correctly. The following Monday, my mother fell and broke her hip so it was put to good use right away. It has been used twice. It has been very handy. Right after my mother's fall, we did another test to make sure it was working again. Our interaction has been very positive. When my mother pressed the button, you could hear them. They're talking to her, asking her if she wanted help, what type of help she needed, should they contact my sister, who is the main contact, who lives close by, or should they contact 911. They're very responsive. I'm grateful that we had the alarm set up when my mother had her first fall. And when she had her second fall, it double proved itself that it is a good system.

We bought a Bay Alarm because my mom recently had some health issues, and she's 90. We wanted to make sure she had something in case one of us was not around. The reason we went with Bay Alarm was that we had recommendations from current users that we know.

She wears it all the time around her house and carries it with her when she goes out. She can still drive in town, so she still goes, uses it. She likes it. I don't think it's her favorite thing to have. But she has the neck pendant, and it doesn't bother her too much, and she carries the main unit when she's out, attached to her purse. We like having it. That way, we know when the battery is getting low, and we know where she is. It makes us feel much better when we're not with her. My experience with them was easy and it was straightforward. There weren't a lot of hidden charges and costs, where I feel confident that it's doing what it's supposed to do, and it's relatively easy and inconspicuous for my mom to use.

Our 87-year-old mother lives with us. We were worried she might fall when we were at the store. So, I went on Copilot and AI and asked what was the best medical alert device for this area was, and it came up with Bay Alarm. Their sales team took me right through the steps and how to do it. It was very positive. We feel more comfortable that she has the device here when we're gone. She's accidentally hit it before and they've always been super nice and super positive. So, we had a very good experience with them.

Bay Alarm saved me one night. My knees were down on me when I was gonna put a piece of wood in the stove. I fell on the stove, and got myself pushed off the stove. I couldn't get up. I finally worked my way over to the table. My button was up there on the table. I finally got it pulled off, called the EMS. I spent about three hours on the floor. I like it. It's good.

We purchased the device and the service from Bay Alarm for extra measure of security for my mother. We looked at a couple of different companies and Bay Alarm looked like it had a comprehensive service and it had a competitive price for the service. Our sense of security improved and having it gave a positive impact, but more so for her family knowing that she has an extra measure of security.

So far I am happy with the Alert. But I am extremely disappointed in the company. It says in the instructions and the website that the Accessory Wrist band and button are included. As is the Vial of Life. And No one in the Service and Technical dept knew this. They wanted to charge me $40 +$15 for shipping the Accessory and charge for Vial of Life. It was not until I said I was reporting them to the Arizona AG for fraud that they decided to send, as a one time courtesy! So make sure you get what they say you will. Incompetent.

Zero stars. I was a customer for about three months until today. The system is awful. I could be sitting in a chair reading and for no reason whatsoever the device would suddenly say, "Fall detected." This happened numerous times. It also detected "falls" when I set it on the nightstand before bed. One day, I went to get an article out of a bottom cupboard. The device swung wildly and hit the cupboard door twice really hard. Nothing, no response at all. Today was the last straw. I was out on my driveway and actually slipped and fell. I went down fast. No response, no fall detected, nothing. When you add in that the device is not waterproof and can't be worn in the shower, this system is beyond totally useless. Since I've an email from them stating they do not want the equipment returned, and after I ensure I've my refund, I intend to take this piece of garbage out in the backyard and "Hillary Clinton" it with the biggest mallet I can find.
