DIRECTV packages

DIRECTV has many different channels but understands that customers have very specific wants and needs when it comes to programming options. The company offers a variety of packages with multiple features, channels and DVR options. DIRECTV has six different plans:

  • Select: A budget-friendly option with basic channels. Customers can access 155 channels.
  • Choice: A great option for families that has a variety of different program preferences. Customers can access 185 channels.
  • Entertainment: A good choice for sports lovers. Customers can access 160 channels.
  • Xtra: The company’s most popular package. Customers can access 235 channels.
  • Ultimate: Ideal for movie lovers. This comprehensive package gives customers access to 250 channels.
  • Premier: Gives you every option you need for an all-inclusive TV watching experience. Customers can access 330 channels.

DIRECTV has multiple extras and add-ons you can add to your plan. This includes premium channels like HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, The Outdoor Channel, NBA League Pass, NFL Sunday Ticket and DogTV.

DIRECTV prices

The six plans come in at different price points. Installation and DVR hookups are included in your package, but you pay $7 a month and a $99 installation fee if you want additional receivers. There is also a $9.99 a month regional sports fee.

Prices for individual packages are:

  • Select: Plans start at $59 a month
  • Choice: Plans start at $69 a month
  • Entertainment: Plans start at $64 a month
  • Xtra: Plans start at $79 a month
  • Ultimate: Plans start at $84 a month
  • Premier: Plans start at $134 a month

While DIRECTV offers great introductory offers, you must sign a two-year contract, and rates increase in the second year. Be sure to ask about second-year pricing before signing a contract. If you want to cancel your plan early, you must pay $20 per month for every month left on the contract.

Other fees to be aware of include a $99 fee when a technician must be dispatched to make repairs. You can put your streaming services on hold until you return home if you’re going on vacation, but there's a $7 a month charge. There is also a $19.95 activation fee.

The company charges $4.25 if you are late paying your bill. You must return your equipment if you cancel your service — if you choose to keep it, you'll end up paying anywhere between $45 and $135 to cover the costs.

    DIRECTV recently separated from ATT. Now they are separate companies with separate billing. I paid last months combined bill of DIRECTV and ATT internet through ATT. DIRECTV then billed me again for what I paid through ATT. They also applied a late fee. I have spent hrs on the phone with DIRECTV customer service explaining that I paid the bill through ATT, after 5 different customer service reps they were able to see that I had paid through ATT, but in order to fix the issue they would need to transfer the full amount I paid to ATT (internet and DIRECTV), to DIRECTV. This would mean I would overpay DIRECTV and now look like I didn't pay the internet at ATT. DIRECTV had no way to separate the DIRECTV charge and the ATT internet charge. They expected me to pay the DIRECTV bill again. I cancelled the DIRECTV service. I would absolutely not recommend anyone to ever use DIRECTV for anything.

    Signed up for DirecTV in January with Quantum Fiber install. We took the Gemini remote controls to start but later decided that we could run it just fine from our TV remotes and save $20 per month. Ever since we disconnected the Gemini remotes, we have trouble getting DirecTV to load on one of our Samsung TVs. Have reached out to Directv many many times via chat and phone calls. They have no fix for it. The only thing we can do is unplug the TV power and plug back in (or disconnec the router and reconnect) EVERY morning. This is so annoying for such a high cost TV app. I set up recordings for our favorite shows. I set it to record new episodes only. Once a series is done for the season we started seeing recordings from old episodes from other channels. I went back to settings and made sure it was set for new only but it still happened so had to cancel the series to get it to stop. We will be cancelling Directv tomorrow.

      Directv raised my rate by $13 a month on top of my $135 a month bill. When I tried to cancel my service, they would leave me on several extended holds, said they were unable to cancel my service from there computer and would put me on another extended hold, more than 15 minutes, and still no resolve. I would not recommend directv to anyone.

      I am writing to inform that I was charged for DIRECTV by an AT&T rep when they promised $65 to install fiber. I explained all I. Needed was the internet as I have YouTube tv. Well they pulled a fast one and charged me $128 for Directv in addition to the $65 for fiber. I did not notice until the second month when I questioned the $128 charge which AT&T told me that was for directv and they no longer have any dealing with them. I was confused as we have a separate directv account for our daughter which is why they got the first month past me.

      Eventually I figured it out that they put directv in the fiber contract. I called directv and they told me they would cancel but could not reimburse me for the month and I was stuck paying for it even though I would not use it which I have not. The rep apparently set me up for it when he told me he was setting up the AT&T logins. Sneaky, unprofessional and very illegal approach to customers that they say will give me the best experience. So I am out over $250 for directv services and will never get me back. That is customer success at its best in 2026. John ** Carrollton, GA

      Worst company I've ever done business with in my life! Now having a dispute with them over cancellation and return of what they say is their property. I could never get ahold of them to resolve issues or problems, sat on hold many times for hours. Was with them for many years and they never offered an upgrade with new equipment or anything, just kept changing things and raised their rates. They could care less about their customers, that is a fact. They even want their 20 year old equipment back. As far as I am concerned, they brought the equipment to my house and installed it, they can now come and remove it and take it with them!!

      After all the money I’m paying, I ask for technical support, and they want my credit card for 65 bucks? I called because when accessing my HBO Max… it kept interrupting my show every five minutes with an IA screensaver and asking what I thought of it….

      Directv removes channels from your tv package to the next level up, but don't discount you for less channels of your package, so rude!!!

      I recently stopped my AT&T service and went to DIRECTV, the pricing sounded so good. Welp, I’ve had problems from the get go and if you need help there is no direct number to speak with technical support. I was told not to go with DIRECTV to go with YouTube tv, but I didn’t listen and now reading all of these horrible reviews I’m really thinking that I made a HUGE A mistake! I’ve already been having issues and I’ve already had issues…. JUST GREAT! Always do my research and I didn’t this time!
