We host with Hostgator.com many websites, recently our website went down, for the past for weeks we did not get any emails any calls back or any support after many calls, the tech support in the Philippines they are incompetent and always come with the same answer "sorry we can't solve the problem we will call the back office", "and will send email", today after 1 hour of not giving up, we got first email, having our website down is a disaster and no solution. Now we have 3 website down, this company should and need to close. They are reckless and careless and that is very bad for business.

Please if you care about your websites and services, Hostgator is the worst. I have had 7 sites crash and destroyed in one year. The hosting package they sold me was dedicated and cost 2400 yr.. The WHM is under a unsecured link, LOL what I was thinking??? I made a big mistake, learn from me.. I now working to move all to new server by the Dec.. 31.. Also in the packages the renewal saids 2023-12-31.. Today they tell me NO it renews 2022-12-23 for 2300 more.. Three locations and even a rep a week ago said that it show 2023 renewal.. Let me say this company is not very well run, or managed.

If you are planning on signing up for HostGator, don’t. Just don’t. No quality when it comes to customer service. You have to expect to call or chat 4-8 times before getting an issue resolved. I signed up with SEO, the account manager would miss our meetings more often than not. I would ask them where in the US to implement keywords. They tell you, "Yes I will do that." Then you find out after 2 months they did nothing. I think throwing my money on a roulette table would have been a better way to spend my money.

I was at first put off waiting on a return call, but Dan called me back and he was the greatest. He was perfect, I could understand him very well, he was slow talking and did everything, and I cannot say enough about his help and expertise. I am not a great computer person but with his help I am doing so much better. Hostgator.com Dan is a keeper.

Is this a joke? HostGator is an absolute, certified nightmare to deal with. Our site went down temporarily. We called technical support....19 times to be exact. We were not able to TALK with someone from technical support ONE TIME that was knowledgeable enough to help us. We asked multiple times for supervisors and Tier 2 technical support is only available by email. We were eventually able to reach Tier 2 tech support through email but they never sent us a complete enough message to respond to. They sent us multiple incomprehensible emails but each email they sent led to another follow-up question….and another 8-12 hour delay.

Our website was down for 6 days and we lost several thousand dollars as a result. We ultimately decided to delete a few old backups on our own so we could restore our website. The end result was that we completely lost our website due to poor advice from one of the technical support people. We had to restore our website from a local backup that we had that was 3 months old. This was despite the fact that we were paying for regular daily backups with HostGator (that apparently were never working).

We ultimately ran out of patience and figured that any solution would be better than continuing to deal with this company. One of the tech support people gave me a Gmail address to email him at. Three of my employees lost their patience with the company and told me they couldn’t deal with them anymore. I lost my patience multiple times and was screaming and cursing at technical support on the phone. Do yourself a huge favor and stay as far away from this company as possible. I was so completely confused that a company like this is still in business that I thought I was on a hidden camera or TV show. I could not believe with my own eyes that a company can have such terrible customer service and still be in business.

While I realize this may come across as someone that’s upset and exaggerating, I can assure you that it is not. I am very busy running my company and the absolute last thing I want to do is waste my time writing a review about some company. I am writing this from the bottom of my heart in the hopes that no other business owner on the face of the planet has to deal with what we just went through. Yes, they are that bad.

DO NOT...I repeat DO NOT use this hosting site. It's like pulling teeth and eyelashes when trying to get assistance from customer service. I'm on day 3 trying to get help with an error and I've been talking with customer service LITERALLY ALL DAY and still nothing resolved. I'm so pissed I put so much money in this hosting site.

If I could give a 0 STAR I would. I run a marketing firm, and one of the things we do is create hundreds of websites for our clients each year. We used many hosting providers so far and HostGator is the only one I have ever had issues with. They have the worst customer service. Every time I talked to a representative to fix an issue, I feel like I'm talking to a robot. For example, I contacted them 12 days ago because in the "business cloud hosting package" that I purchased a few months ago for a client, they advertised that the package comes with $50 worth of YOAST SEO plugin for free.

However, when I complained that my plugin is not working and it asks me to purchase the premium version if I want to use it, the representative keep telling me that, "You only get the basic version of it in this package and if you want the premium you should pay for it." Are you kidding me? The basic version is FREE itself, and I could download and install it myself within a seconds without asking you- why do you advertise it as a $50 worth of plugin that you offer it for FREE in the package to your customers? Do you think people are stupid? Not to mention that I was on hold on chat for a crazy long time, and at the end, after asking over 15 times to have the name and the contact phone number of the manager, I was told that he can't share it and someone will contact me within 24 hours instead - but guess what? NO ONE CONTACTED ME EVER SINCE THEN. UNBELIEVABLE. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR WORK AND GO ELSEWHERE!

HostGator has been a nightmare from the very beginning. I purchased a 3 year package for 3 websites in April 2022. Within a month my primary website was down, it had never been down in the 22 years prior. Despite getting the package including SiteLock they did not put it on so it was infected with malware. I made many calls, given promises that it would be back up 24-72 hours. I would wait...nothing. Finally in June it was scrubbed of the malware and back up; I had to pay for it to be restored. August 30 it went down again. I have been calling and calling, over an hour each time. One representative told me that SiteLock was never put on and that there was nothing in the notes of my numerous calls. This is my business.

It is October 17, 2022. At first when I would search it would preview with Chinese letters, then when you click on the address there would be a blank screen. Now it doesn't even show up with a preview in a search. I call, I do live chat. You can never get through to a supervisor. The representatives are always courteous, say they understand (no they don't, and it is not helpful, fixing it is helpful), but nothing is done. My 2 other sites show a warning that they are not safe. A disaster.

After the numerous problems they caused and would not fix, I moved my domains over to another company. I still, after over 2 years, get invoices from them to pay. They do not have any of my domains or hosting. You cannot cancel autopay, or your account without contacting them via phone or chat, which is unprofessional and shady. They have taken over 20 minutes already to simply CANCEL my account!

I am a volunteer at Code2GOD, a non-profit organization. We had a very bad experience with HostGator. Their hosting is very slow. Our websites experienced many drops, causing us damage. Moreover, the hosting was very slow, causing bad experience for the visitors. Whenever we've called them, we got random people on the other side, not coordinated with each other, and seemingly with low expertise. Sometimes we've hard strange noises in the background, giving us image of an unprofessional support. We are waiting for more than 3 weeks for a migration and nothing helps us. Not recommended!

Very bad service. Already 3 weeks and migration has not helped. When I call them, I get a guy in the Philippines working from the kitchen with children's noises all around. Unprofessional and no wonder they can't focus on technical issues. Scary. #**

My sites with HostGator go down EVERY DAY. 500 response codes. I have called and used chat and in many cases the agent reports "The server is down for maintenance, contact again in 2 hours if not working" and then disconnects the chat. Really? Server maintenance during the middle of a business day? On the phone I have spent hours and they cannot even access my accounts due to the errors. If you are considering using HostGator, STOP. Give your head a shake and move on to another company.

Host Gator cannot be trusted to follow through. We paid them for web site transfer and waited, as instructed, for an email from their customer service. After 2 weeks we tried to follow up but were told we had to go through a "verification" process that took several weeks to finish by chat and email. In the end, customer service emailed us to let us know they would not refund our money since it was slightly more than 45 days after we initially signed up. Do NOT trust these sites that require full payment prior to doing any work or service whatsoever. I will be posting this message on every review board I can find to warn folks about this unscrupulous company.

I have used HostGator for several years, and their service has only gotten worse. I have several domains with them. One of these domains was to expire in a month, so I manually extended it for a year. Apparently their auto-renewal was triggered, so two weeks later, they automatically extended this domain for 3 years, without so much as asking me. I never approved this renewal and at the time they processed it, my domain had over a year left. No apology, nothing. The funny (or unfunny) thing was, a year earlier, they DIDN'T even alert me when another domain expired that was set to auto renew. They are a giant mess. Stay away.

Their service is confused, one technical support guy can get something done and another one will tell you it's not even possible. If you ask for a refund they will go ahead and delete your sites but don't assume you will get unused time back. If it's over 45 days they won't give you the money back, they will keep the entire year's money and delete your website without even telling you. Unlimited websites means subdomains added in cpanel on one hosting plan which isn't made clear and it's a terrible system.

Host Gator offers the best service on the net. I was desperate with WIX2 years ago (great tool but no service) and they helped me a lot to set up my SiteMaps, they helped me to index my site astrologers.us, they helped me connect my domain, they answered all the questions I'd with Gator Site Builder, it's the only provider where they answer your chat in less than 2 minutes and help to the end, I personally don't know them, they're in the States and I'm in Denmark and although Site Builder lacks some features, I still use it because they help me a lot. My account with Gator. **

The worst hosting I have ever used! They don't understand what they are doing, they mess up your accounts and don't know how to fix them. Trying to talk to a manager is the worst experience I have had!!! I would look somewhere else if I were you. You will spend more time on the phone trying to fix your site than it will be online. Buyer beware.

Hostgator is the most incompetent hosting provider I have ever dealt with. I inherited their hosting from a client and had to request support which required to have their "escalation" team to resolve an issue. The process is extremely slow and as I write this it's been over a week and our site is still not functioning. This fix is extremely easy on their site but yet I don't understand why it's taking so long for them to take care of it. I called in over 10 times and always get a template response of "Our escalation will get back to you". Our issue is absolutely an emergency but Hostgator obviously don't give a damn to their customer's concerns. Our escalation case is #**.

The billing: no refund after 45 days no matter how many months remaining. I purchased Hostgator shared hosting because was the chepest. They advertise $x.99 a month. I paid for a year and after struggles with support I decided it is not for me. When I canceled after only 4 months and asked for a refund for 8 or even 7 months they refused. They said they only refund me within 45 days of purchase. I told them I paid for 12 month and by canceling I am entitled for the money of the remaining months. They referred me to the 45 days return policy. They don't mention this on their plans. They advertise them as monthly but once you pay that's it.

The support: Their support join the chat quickly. Within 2 min but spend 5-10 min each time to review your account and tell you to wait 3-4 minutes multiple times. I had about 4 chats and only one time was good experience (when enquired about the static IP and so on). The other 3 were disasters. They asked me to verify a request by replying to an email. Their spam filter blocked my ** email every time I reply. The tech thinks it is my junk while I was telling them that I got the email but their server is rejecting it. They had no idea what to do. When I canceled, same thing, they put me on hold a lot then canceled my hosting. However, I asked to delete my account/login as well but they didn't do that. I cannot say their hosting is good or not, slow or fast but I can say I didn't notice anything bad to be honest. I do not recommend them due to not so good support and false advertising/billing.

For the past 4-5 days my website keeps going down. Finally, I was told that it is due to abusive behavior by other users on the server. If Hostgator can't keep my website online, I should be able to get a refund for the remaining time on the plan so that I can go to another hosting company that's more reliable.

Are you aware that HostGator has a sister company called Gator Builder? I didn't realize this until I finally listened to my wife's constant nagging about monthly payments being deducted from our personal checking account. I know what you're going to say if you'd only listened to her the first time she told you. You wouldn't have to write about your experience. Yup! you're right... Maybe my pain can help someone else from doing what I did.

I had an open HostGator account that I'd had (2) domains parked and (1) active website. I secured an additional domain name for future use, thinking it was part of my HostGator account only to discover that I had secured the domain with the sister company Gator Builders. They charged me for the hosting service that I already had with HostGator Hatchling Plan. I tried to explain it to the customer service and all they were able to refund me was for the last month. Tried talking to the Escalation manager to see if I could get someone to understand why I should receive a refund further back than this month, and again nothing.

The Crazy thing was I could reach each of my accounts through the Hostgator website Hostgator.com logging in thru (Portal/ Website Builder). But when I tried to explain what happened all they told me was that it was their sister company and they didn't have access to those records. He was able to transfer me to the sister company not before he tried to sell me the Alum Plan for moving all my other sites over to HostGator. The bottom line here is clearly to listen to your wife the first time and don't procrastinate with looking into it. Lastly, don't do business with companies that arent willing to do the right thing. If they're more interested in the money than the customer... Run...!

I have been with HostGator for many years, as in about 12. Ever since the company was sold to a large corporation, it's been a long, slow slide downhill. I've been designing websites for nearly 18 years. Tech support is a joke. Today I discovered the art site I spent YEARS building so people can license my art is done. They LOST the entire database that supported the site. I regret not backing that up. After 9 or 10 years of that site being online, it was never an issue. The site cannot function properly without the database they lost. ALL that work, just gone. I have the entire site sitting on my drive, but no time to modify it so that it might be able to run without the database. This was the second time this happened, but that last time they had the database backed up. Clearly they no longer back ANYTHING up!! I'm heading with my sites and my clients to a much better hosting company. Avoid HostGator like it's the black plague!!

Will try to make it beneficial for you. Start learning... HostGator is not as good as you see in the reviews as compare to BlueHost, MochaHost, etc. *Not Sponsored* these are more secure and provide good services, each and every thing that you need to make your online presence. And not too much difference in prices as you have to go with them and you have to use a shared server just like property but there is no reselling :( [I never recommend you to purchase for 3 years]

Let me explain the problems of hostgatarians... If you are facing any of the issue, it is normal, most of their users have same complains. (UPVOTE it)

You will be good with them if you are using the single domain with shared hosting hahah and they do backups only for 100000 inodes (aprox. MySQL® Disk Usage 450 MB & Disk Usage 5 GB while they claim unlimited space to trap you -> today learn more about their traps) if you go double, 200000 inodes, CS will redirect you to TOS that they do not allow more space, lol as you are trapped. Bear Them now! They provide you extraordinary service for 45 days, why not, these days are money back guarantee days. After 45 days, now your time is started to plan to leave their services.

If you grow and reach to 3 GB disk storage and ready to go with your websites then it is time to get 500 IS error when you need to update the data and need to kill the processes each time and it will take 3x time. If you contact to the customer support, they will ask you to upgrade your server to the dedicated one or to VPS (believe me you will not face these problems with blue or mocha) its normal with HG my friend learn more...

After 3 months your website will be started to be infected by malwares and the email password will be started stolen. If you ask them to clean malwares that can be resolved by replacing the files...haha and they will recommend you to use sitelock (bcz they need commission) while making WP secure is so easy, you can have free and the best available plugins like Wordfence. You can keep secure your site by scanning and by using it.

About CSs all of their CS not knowledgeable, it's ok, as in team, it is difficult to filter the team members, and interesting they will never redirect the chat to the related department as Bluehost CSs. And each CS has different statement and I was unable to find teamwork within them, worse reality. And they will make changes to your Purchase without getting permissions from you. If you are planning to go with HG, please must think about your time and investment and try to get short term services if you want to test on your behalf and I recommend you to choose the one, provides you short term service like Mocha... or go with the best one Blue by closing your eyes.

Since the company has moved most of the services out of the United States, the service is terrible. Simple tasks with SEO purchases, website and email assistance has become a complete nightmare. Example, I notified HostGator of a cyber attack which was going to take affect two months before the attack was going to happen. I even provided the open hole of the cPanel path the attack was going to use. The IT department did nothing. The attack occurred. I do cyber security plus engineering. Just wanted to help. After the attack occurred, Hostgator said, the company waits until system failure, then react. Yikes, my advise. Stay away from hostgator.

I received an e-mail informing that my website is unavailable due to the high consumption of CPU. I did the adjustment on robots.txt to disallow indexing on the site like, following the Hostgator requirements on e-mail. That was the second time trying to solve the problem. I received the information that the admin would solve the problem the first time I contacted support. Now I chatted for almost two hours and received the information that the admin will solve the problem and there isn´t a deadline for that. I NEED to wait AGAIN and I don´t know how long it will be. That is a commercial website and that arbitrary decision from Hostgator is causing problems to my deal.

I closed my account a year ago because they sold my info and I was inundated with calls, texts, and emails. A year later they bill me for services and sucked money out of my bank account. I called them and they 1)acknowledged my account was closed, 2)acknowledged that I don't use the domain 3)acknowledged that they see the refund from a year ago. However, they are unable to refund me for this charge because I already paid. What kind of nonsense is this???

I have purchased a Windows hosting plan and there was issue with domain name being registered and it got pointed to the hosting plan as well as attempting to add 2 other domains to the hosting plan. When communicated with support it was supposed to cancel the incorrect domain name and register the correct one and fix the hosting plan accordingly, they kept going on loop on how it takes 24/48 without taking any action to change and not even fix on the account was provided until it gets propagated accordingly and after 5 more communication with the support team they only changed the primary domain on the host to yet another incorrect one and only to get it right on the second.

After 2 days of going back and forth with them about it and refused to cancel the incorrect domain and told me it was non refundable while one of the support team said it will be cancelled as I requested the same day as the incorrect domain was registered yet there is another error to add the other 2 domains. When attempting to add them there is error produced "DNS Name already exists" while it's not showing in the Plesk to work on. When attempting to contact them again the response was, "Oh we don't support this service" which was Windows Plesk service and yet the issue persist to this day and not being solved. Every communication is "will add note to admins to help get it fixed" and yet no action is being taken.

We had a change in personnel and we couldn't access our account since we didn't have the email or pin. I called to get everything reset. I've submitted the documentation HostGator has asked for. It is now going on 4 weeks going back and forth with HostGator. I'm so frustrated with their service/support. Every day I feel I am no closer to getting access than I was the day before. You can never talk directly to the person working on the case. They will never give you a day they think they might have things resolved. I've never received a call back, just email asking for more stuff. Hindsight 20/20, I should have just quit paying and gone with a different company and started a new domain with new email addresses. It would have been easier and less frustrating. If you are considering HostGator good luck if you need support higher than tier 1.

I was trying to move my domain name to GoDaddy, but when I access my account it says "It appears this domain name is deleted, to register a new domain please go here", they said that my domain was registered under their old registrar, the problem is that I can't manage my domain, can't do any change or even renew it... I spent almost a week trying to solve this. They asked me to send the original invoice but it is from 2011,10 years ago, I don't have that anymore.
