    The only problem I had with Santanna was that they jacked my rate up to like double the market rate once my 12 months was up. If you don’t watch it knowing your term is up, they’ll get you a real high rate. But then I re-signed up with them for another cheaper rate. They also said they sent me a letter to tell me that my term was ending. But, I didn’t see the letter.

    I did an apples-to-apples search on websites regarding energy cost and the rates of Santanna Energy Services were lower. Enrolling with Santanna was easy and it was professionally done. Most of the customer service reps were knowledgeable and professional, with the exception of one who didn't seem to know his job. Santanna has very competitive rates and I've recommended them already. I told my friends that they should investigate and they would probably take advantage of Santanna's rates.

    I've been with Santanna Energy for over five years and they never changed their rates. Initially, I started using them because I was getting a bonus mile. When I called them, they answered my questions. I said I would cancel but they adjusted my rates and guaranteed it for a year. I'll stick with 'em for a year but I am closely watching Nicor to see that. I paid more with Santanna every month than I should've been paying with Nicor. I paid a lot of money that I shouldn't have and I'm not really happy with Santanna Energy but it is what it is.

    Somebody came to my door and talked to me about the gas. They explained to me the rates and they told me how much it would be per Ccf, and it was just cheaper than the other one I had at that time. I liked the deal so I decided to change to Santanna and kept them ever since. The enrollment process was easy and I just wrote down all the information that they gave me. I keep calling them up if I have questions and they have been very nice and polite and answer whatever I asked them. I’m glad I’m with Santanna and I would not change it.

    I see energy services around so I looked online and found that Santanna Energy had the lowest price, and I just enrolled online. The application process only took about 5 minutes. However, it took a little time for them to apply it to my account. But other than that, I have had no problems with them. I would tell my friends to check out what they’re paying now, as opposed to what they could get if they went to Santanna. They should be always comparing their rates.

    I was asked to switch to Santanna Energy a long time ago. I've had a lot going on in my life. When you're retired, it's a full-time job. I have a mother that's dying and I've got my grandkids to take care. I got a call from Direct Energy and they told me that I was done with Santanna because they want you to believe that you're doing the right thing. Then you have to pay for the fine for canceling early. I got upset with Direct Energy. They're playing games with my mind. So I went back to Santanna and then they canceled Direct Energy and I'm not going to pay the $50. Santanna had a better discount, so I went with them and inquired about their ComEd Fixed Electricity Rates.

    My experience enrolling with Santanna was simple, easy and quick. They just asked me a bunch of questions and I answered them. The customer service was very professional, kind and helpful.     For a long time, I really didn’t pay a whole lot attention to my bills. I just pay them like most people do. But I’m retired now so I got to pay a whole lot more attention to it. I thought that Duke Energy was a little higher. Somebody was walking in my neighborhood and I listened to him and got convinced to change to Santanna. I sat on my front porch and he did all the application stuff. He filled everything out then placed the phone call and did an agreement over the phone.     A few years back, I was with Santanna. Then I used Michigan National. But I decided to go with Santanna again for gas based on their price. There was nobody else that could offer me that cheap of a price that was locked in for one year. The process of enrolling with them was good. I just filled out an application form and they asked me some questions. Then they told me that the program would take effect when my contract with Michigan National runs out which was on December 30. I'm satisfied with my experience and I would recommend Santanna.

    We always shop prices for gas rate because it’s a restaurant and Santanna Energy tried to get the best rate we can for the lowest price. Santanna gas is what we use at the restaurant and the price is right so far. The last time, we got the price for $2.99 and that was the lowest price for a 1-year term, a fixed-rate that there was at that time. Now, we switched away from the $2.99 to $2.69 for a 6-month term, and then we’ll re-negotiate again in a 6-month term in the middle of the summer. So, that doesn’t mean we’ll stay with Santanna if somebody else got a better price. We go with whoever gives a better price. I did the residence I’m in here, the owner’s residence and all the restaurants at the same time. Their customer service was all right and I had a really good experience with Santanna Energy.

    I have been with Santanna Energy for about 50 years now. The first year I signed, I didn't know the contract was going to end. The service I’m receiving from them is okay my electric bill was doubled two months in a row and I went from 50 something a month to a 100. I called customer service twice about the same thing and they were very nice, but I want them to make sure that we know ahead of time that the price is going to go up. I like to have part of my bill paid and the rep said we would go back to the cheaper price on the next billing period. I’m not happy but I would stay with them, and so I re-signed with Santanna Energy.

    What I usually do when a contract ends or when I’m close to the end is I start shopping again to get a better rate, and I stayed with Santanna Energy because they got the best rate going. But I only have gas with them while my electric is with First Energy.     Santanna is on my gas bill. I liked the rate that they gave me and when I first went with them there was no penalty for opting out before the 12 months. The reps are great. They're not pushy about trying to get you into their program. They just tell you what they have to offer you and they will tell you a couple other rates from different places, and you can compare them. You can even get online and compare a couple of different places and Santanna is on top. I checked in with two or three other ones that called me. They wanted me to go with them and they had a $100 fee switch out before 12 months or even the six months fixed rate.

    Also, most companies are locked in a fixed rate versus a variable rate. With Santanna, I started off with 0.056 and now I'm down to 0.054. I just renewed my contract with them. While anybody else's rate is going up, Santanna offered me a better rate than what they gave me last year. As long as they keep their rates down below everybody else, that's where I will stay. It sells itself because of the rates that they have. The six month lock in for the fixed rate might be just a little bit higher but I did the 12 months lock in.

    I received a call from Santanna Energy, could not understand the man's accent, and was at lunch with my father who just lost his wife, my mother. We are going through bills and such trying to get things sorted out for she paid all the bills. I had him call me back at 3:30 pm, he called back at 2:30 pm as we were a block away from home, he asked if I had pen and paper as I was opening the house. I sat down at the table and asked what this call was about, and he went on about lower rates and such, I said I was not interested in his sales of whatever he was talking about and he starts scolding me like a child, said I was wasting his time, as he was YELLING at me I said, "YOU called ME and wasted MY time TWICE today" and he hung up on me! What a rude way to drum up business!! Believe me this is my review, and I'm not done yet people! Stay away from this scam.

    I needed to find an energy service provider because Commonwealth Edison was no longer going to provide the energy. So, I called the town officials but they couldn’t recommend anything. I went to a website and came upon Santanna Energy Services. I inquired from them about residential electricity and gas services, and their rates were lower. Enrolling with them was easy and straightforward.

    Later on, I had some difficulty because another company called and got my account information, and transferred me to a different service without informing me. Getting switched backed to Santanna was a little more complicated, but it ultimately worked out. It was pretty shady, though, and halfway through I told them that I wasn't comfortable giving them my information, but apparently I had already provided it and I asked them if they were able to change my account.

    I've been on the phone with several customer service reps, particularly during the confusion with the account changes, and they were all helpful. I got the name of somebody to talk to throughout, so I didn't have to get through the story all over again and that worked fine. My experience with Santanna has been good and the only issue is that I continue to get emails from them talking about lower rates and how I should join them, so they haven't quite caught up with the fact that I've already done that, and I don't like more emails than I need. Despite that, Santanna has generally been economical, easy and convenient.

    I've been with Santanna now for 8 years. At the very beginning, being able to lock in a rate got me interested. Santanna called and told me about their services and then I was able to make a decision based on what they gave me. I stuck with them because out of all the service providers, they are the ones that tend to have the best lock in rate each year. When I go to lock in my rate again each year, I talk to their reps. They're very friendly and will help me get what I need. Santanna has good customer service and they have a decent product. They're a good company to work with.

    The only thing is the last couple of years, the rate that I've locked in at has been slightly above what the normal monthly going rate would be if I stuck with Consumers Energy. I am not a hundred percent great with that part. But that's my choice to lock in a rate in order to prevent it from going up. Still, Santanna has been the best rate to lock in but it happens to be the lock in rate is higher than what the average has been for the last couple of seasons. Nevertheless, it's a small part of the whole entire picture. And for the most part, I'd been very satisfied with everything else.

    I had a friend that was selling something similar to Santanna Energy and I figured, I’d look a little more into it and do some more research. I went with them but then, they recently backed out of the company. So, I really didn’t have a reason to stay with this other energy service company. When I bumped into this guy at the food festival, he seemed really friendly. He said, “You know, it’s only going to take two seconds. In fact, can I have a moment of your time?” Our environment’s pretty messed up right now with all the pollution. I know one person ain’t going to make a huge difference but at least, I can try. That was the reason why went into agreeing with the energy services.

    I'm a DTE customer and every year, I love to look at the suppliers for natural gas and the line. I get the print-off from the area, I call different companies and see what they have available and what they charge per cube. I go for fixed and Santanna used to get one of the best programs and they've been the most competitive one. Also, their customer service team always works with me pretty good and they're not pushy. I own furniture stores and gas is an expense so I looked for the best rate and they told me what is the volume rate, if there's any difference and when I should call back. We've been with them for quite a while and they always work with me on the four locations I have. I pay my bills and they send me gas. It seems fine and we've been very happy with them.

    Santanna Energy called me about changing my gas to electric. It was gas at first and I did for a while. Then, I found a lower rate and went with somebody else. Recently, they contacted me and offered me lower rates on both gas and electric and I took it. I was looking at different energy things before they called because I was contracted at a lower rate with the people I was with. Then when the contract was up, we went month by month and it got expensive in the winter. So Santanna called at the right time.

    All my interactions with their customer service was positive. I had set up with them for my money to be taken out. When we first switched over, I had my money taken out every month by the utility. But my credit card was hacked, I got a new one and they couldn’t take it out. Santanna contacted me and wanted to know what happened. And I told them that on the same day, I had straightened it out and there won’t be a problem. My experience with them has always been positive. I’m well-satisfied and I will recommend them.

    Consumers was getting too high with their prices for their service. I read about Santanna Energy and when I called them, they were helpful and friendly. I’ve had them for quite a few years now and my experience is good. I like their prices, plus their customer service is great. Enrolling with them was easy and good, too. I told them that I’ve given my number for my Consumers and they gave me a rate and then they asked if I wanted to set the rate in. I said "Yes" and they told me there’s nothing for me to do. They contacted Consumers, and then, every year, you can call them back and see if you want to lock in a price or you don’t have to call them back and go with the flow. Also, sometimes there are all these restrictions and it seemed like Santanna was the best deal. At first, I was doing my gas but it popped that I could change my electric, so I did that too. Enrolling was really easy. I did it online and I'm not really that savvy but I didn't have any trouble. One time, my contract was up and I called them.     I’ve been with Santanna Energy since 2009. We have a gas hot water tank through them. I chose them over other energy services because they were willing to give me a good deal. And the deal last year was really good. And they said if they find something lower, they’ll let me know. Enrolling with them was fine, as well. Once I signed up, they gave me the contract and then when my year comes up, I can just call and tell them I don’t want them anymore.

    Anytime I’ve called, they’ve always been polite and courteous. Also, when it’s time to renew, they send me a paper and I write a number that they tell me. And when I get my bill, I check at the back and make sure that it’s the number. There’s just one time when there was a mix-up but they corrected it and I’ve had no problem with them.

We did it over the phone and then they sent me a contract with the rate on it and the expiration date, and that was it. It’s been good. I just renewed my stuff.     A gentleman came to my house and told me about Santanna. I used to do door-to-door sales and I had some compassion for the man, so I decided to try it out. He was very nice and he educated me on the difference between ComEd and Santanna and their different roles, and I thought that it made good sense.     It’s been really good having Santanna Energy. I’ve had them for quite a while now. A young lady came to the door a number of years ago and she explained it all very well and we tried it and liked it. That personal touch of coming to the door was much better than all the phone calls you get. When I had to renew my contract, the kid I talked to was really good. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get the price that I had previously which I was a little disappointed. But, everything goes up. That’s the way it is. But of all the companies that call, Santanna always gives the price they say they’re going to give you and I’ve been pleased with them.

    I have been a Santanna Gas customer for about 7 years, contracting for one year at a time for natural gas which they buy for DTE Energy, and resell to customers at a fixed rate - usually lower than the variable price per ccf from DTE. No significant problems with Santanna until recently when my contract expired in Dec. 2016, and my gas from Santanna went to an artificially high market price; higher significantly than DTE's comparable price/CCF (100 Cubic Feet). I noticed that my bill was somewhat higher than expected, but thought it was due to the variable cold Spring weather.

    2 weeks ago I receive a bill from DTE Energy with all their nondescript charges, and includes Santanna's gas charge for my one month use.     I have contacted Santanna Energy and relayed my concern expecting that it was a mistake of some kind, however Customer Service "Sean" explained that this is a normal charge for service since my contract with them expired with the Jan 2017 service. I explained to his that I had checked my bills paid to DTE with the Santanna charges and have paid a total of nearly $500. In 4 months (Jan-April) with the excessive "service" charges added to the market price of gas. I have done some internet research into Santanna Energy and find mixed reviews from past and present customers, but discovered that they paid a large 8 million dollar settlement and reimbursement in the state of Illinois in 2006 for Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices.

    I am not yet finished with my investigation of their customer abuses including myself, but fully intend to report them to the BBB, Michigan Attorney General, Michigan Public Service Commission, Lansing, Mich., and to my local political representatives. I have talked at length to customer service at DTE, however it appears that the representative nor her supervisor, (although very friendly and willing to help) could not grasp the fact that the bills sent by DTE with the inclusive Santana charges do not even add up correctly to the total charges listed. My complaint to them is presently under review by their department managers. If I feel that Santanna Energy is not willing to correct this situation, I will also contact WOOD-TV and WZZM-TV for their investigation and input into making the public aware of this company's fraudulent practices.

    I am not yet finished with my investigation of their customer abuses including myself, but fully intend to report them to the BBB, Michigan Attorney General, Michigan Public Service Commission, Lansing, Mich., and to my local political representatives.     • We train our representatives to be professional and have floor managers that roam the customer service representative would never condone such language.

    • SES cancelled Ms. Allard gas account on 04/05/2017 as she requested. The final termination date was set for 05/01/2017, a date determined by her utility company, not SES.

    I switch to Santanna so I could get a cheaper gas rate but it's still over $100. I get this fee that I haven't gotten off my bill and I have paid it twice now. I was referred to Santanna by the person I live with and I moved about half mile away and she still gets the fee.     A fellow came knocking on the door one day and at the time Santanna's rate was better than GTE so I switched to them. I've been with them for about three years now and my usual interactions with the CS reps have been okay.     The services from Santanna Energy sounded good at first. They were my gas during winter time and enrolling for their service was fast. However, they said that they're cheaper just to get customers on board, but it turns out their competitor was lower. They're around 329 or 359 for their gas, but it's around 590 for Santanna Energy. I did talk to somebody later on about that and they did try to lower it a little bit, but it was still higher than what Consumers Energy was. I also get a protection plan where they'll give me a certain rate to pay on winter. Then I'd receive a different type of rate when we're not using the furnace during spring or summer, which works better. I was very dissatisfied with Santanna Energy and they should keep their customers happy by competing with Consumer Energy's truthfulness and lowering their rate.

    Santanna Energy was one of the lower ones when I looked up energy services online hoping that we could possibly save a little bit of money. We signed up and then they sent out a welcome packet. Then everything was supposed to go over within the next billing cycles and the electric was switched over but the gas wasn't. They didn't know why and kept resubmitting the account number and they even said that they had the wrong account number. It was the right account number. It turns out they had the wrong gas supplier then and they tried to blame me for that.     My bill is so high so I switched my residential electric service to Santanna. Their rate was cheaper while the other one I had was not great. I decided that even though I was fined $50 for switching over to Santanna, that I’d make it up within a year or so. I was also told that I could do gas with them and they told me that Nicor Energy was the same as Nicor Gas but it’s not, and they are gonna charge $50 if I switch so I didn’t go with gas.

    Their customer service was good and personable. The only thing is that they said they would follow up with me about the gas and I guess they realized they had misrepresented it so they never called me back about the gas. Like all things, one can’t take people’s word for such and has to verify it with the other company. The enrollment process was fairly easy and they were helpful in other ways. However, there was something I questioned because when I switched a while back, I told them not to switch over to the new one till my next billing cycle.     Santanna Energy have been around for a while, and I talked to somebody who works for Commonwealth Edison to find out what these energy services are all about. They explained to me what’s happening in the industry, and based on that, I decided to go with a fixed rate. Enrolling was very easy. It was mostly done for me. I just had to answer a few questions. They asked questions for verification and that was it.

    Critical things were explained to me very clearly. Like when I sign up, if along the way I change my mind, it’s just only good for a year and after that year, I can change or drop it if I chose.     We've been with Santanna Energy for a couple of years now and we've been very pleased with them. But our neighbors had a lower rate than what we had. Then somebody called and talked to us about the rate but I remembered I had not heard from Santanna because normally they'd call. And when I called a couple of weeks ago, I found out that we had not been locked into the new rate yet. So since we've been a customer for a couple of years now, they gave us even a lower rate. Then we locked that price in for 12 months. Everybody that I talked to was very nice. Anybody that's ever called from their facility has been very helpful and done whatever needed to be done in order to be able to keep our services. So we've been very pleased.     So far, I've had a fine experience with Santanna. The first rep I talked to, however, lied to me so I couldn't recommend the company at all. Emma said I was gonna pay a separate amount of $700 which is very high but that if I go on along with them, I'd get a discount, like a third of what the other bill was. So I went for that but I couldn't find my bill that day. I found out it was an e-bill so I printed it out and when I looked at it, I was already getting their service at a lower rate than what she was offering me.

    So I called back and talked to a second rep, Rebecca, who seemed very knowledgeable. She tried to explain everything and I very much agree with her. When I told her what had happened, she said that that was not right at all. She then checked and I actually had a cheaper bill which was $140. Rebecca then straightened it out. However, I was told I'd receive paperwork like a contract but I never have. It should have been here long ago.

    The bills are high here in Michigan during winter, so we looked into energy services with the best rate that we can get and that was our idea for going to Santanna.     My contract with my previous distributor was expiring and I noticed that Santanna's rate was lower. It was very easy enrolling with them and I did it over the phone. I went with them for gas and I was extremely happy with that choice. When my electric contract expires, I will be considering Santanna too because I'm not really pleased with the way the company I'm with does business. I have nothing in writing with them. With Santanna, they send me a copy of the contract and the dates so I have something to keep track of and I appreciate that.

    I had a question one time because about a week or two after I enrolled, they came out with a much lower rate and I was a little irritated about that. I emailed them and someone responded right away. Customer service was tremendous and Rebecca was most pleasant. She gave me her phone number and their extension. She explained how the rates change frequently which I was not aware of. Everything was explained in the email. Rebecca also told me that they would give me the lower rate. All my dealings have been very pleasant with Santanna and I'm extremely happy.

    The rates of Nicor made us look into energy services. At first, we had several alternatives but we chose Santanna because we had the number. We didn't know anything about alternative energy sources at that time, but we've been happy with them and stayed with them. We renewed with them this year too. They're excellent and it has been a very satisfying experience.

    We stayed with Santanna through the time when they offered a program. We were happy with that. Then we were informed that that particular program was no longer going to be used and so we started with the program we're on now. I've renewed it a year at a time. Even when we didn't renew immediately, the cost of the energy wasn't really that high right now and so we weren't too concerned by going month by month. But we decided to lock in for one year, Santanna offered us a decent rate, and we went back on for another year.

    A Santanna Energy supplier representative came to my door stating he needed to make sure if I was upgraded to the smart meter. I told him I had been and he then said he needed to make sure I had also been upgraded to the newest rate. When I asked if he could come back when my husband was here because I did not know. He said no that I needed to show him my gas and electric bills. When I stated that our electric bill was online he said I needed to pull it up and show it to him. He said he had to verify with everyone the same thing. When I asked if he worked for ComEd he said that ComEd worked for him. He then ordered me to call Nicor right now so he can talk to them to upgrade my gas to the newer cheaper rate.

    I called Nicor while he waited outside and asked them quickly if they knew who Santanna was. While they were telling me that Santana is another different supplier this man was knocking on my door impatiently and ringing my doorbell. I have never experienced such a dishonest fraudulent company. These type of representatives had to have learned their dishonest aggressive skills from this company I am sure. Based off of my experience with this particular representative I would never do business with Santanna Energy Services.

    I got Santanna from the Citizen Utility Board where they provide information through the internet and do a comparing of apples-to-apples with utilities. Santanna has a good gas and I’m opposed to bundling so Nicor delivered my gas but Santanna was the supplier. I should have examined it over the years, but I was busy working and I don’t know if I could’ve gotten better rates somewhere else, but I stayed loyal to Santanna. I’ve had Santanna Energy for 13 years for my gas and then another company approached me for my electric and I went with them but I switched back to Santanna when I found out that they're dealing with electric as well. Enrolling with them was easy and I did it over the phone. Their customer service was good because there is an administrative fee that I wanted to have removed and she enabled that to happen.

They gave no other alternatives. Well, they billed me for that $50 and after leaving 4 messages, unreturned, from the woman I spoke with, I was told it was my fault I moved before the contract ended. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They take your money - will NOT resolve issues at all, let alone in a timely manner. Not worth any savings off the ComEd electric price for the amount of pain and suffering they inflict on consumers.

    If somebody offered a better price, we would be obliged to take that, which is why we looked into energy services. Santanna called us and had a good offer. Although there’s one thing that gripes my soul when it comes to changing suppliers, whether it be gas or electric. That's when somebody comes on and gets all information that you need to have off of your bill, then you got to sit there and go through it again with somebody else. They call it a verifier and to me, that is a big waste of time. They’ve already got it all, so why do we have to do it again? That is ridiculous. It’s all on our bill and there’s no reason to give any information any different than what is already present. I’ve been in business too long, so this annoys me. But I have no absolute problem with Santanna.

    I was looking for gas and electric services for my home. A couple of nice people from Santanna came along and I went with them because of their price. It was very competitive and right on top of everything. Also, the enrollment process was easy. They were quick about it once I gave them all the information. After they went all through verification and then going through the phone system, it was quick. Their customer service has been great. I've always had good response from them. They're super keen and I appreciate them. They're also courteous and answered all my questions.

    The only thing I would like to do is instead of a yearly contract, I wish they could stretch it out to three to five years. I’d rather sign up for three to five years than to have to remember to go through the process of calling them before it lapsed, a longer period of time. They could do it. They could set a price or at least match the price. Nevertheless, the service has been great and I appreciate it. The people are pleasant to work with and it's easy to see what they're billing is.     Santanna Energy called and my husband joined because they had the cheapest rate and told us that our Duke bill will decrease. It didn't. That's when I called Duke and they said that Santanna's charging us more than they do. Santanna said we would be locked in a fixed rate for one year but the rate was locked in for three months and it went up. I called Santanna to let them know that I was very unhappy with this and was going to drop them. They said we have to pay $100 to get out of the contract. They did say that they will lower our rate, which I said okay to. I haven't looked at this month's bill yet, and when I do I'm going to look if they did reduce the rate because I am going to get out of the contract when I finish my year with them. It's been terrible.

    I was with Santanna Energy for several years as I had gas with them already. I had a little note on the papers that I have to call every year to see if I can keep that rate or get a better rate. So I called them and the gentleman I talked to gave me a better rate for our gas. When I was renewing with them, we got to talking about our electric service, and he said he could take care of that also so I got everything all in one spot and I love it.

    I signed up with Santana several years ago. They offered an oil storage program at the time that I think saved me money. Oil was supposedly purchased during non-peak months, stored and then used during winter until it was used up, and then I would pay for oil at winter rates. I was good with the whole thing, and my bills were pretty low. Things changed with the company so I decided that to try a different company, offering different savings... no problems transferring service. A few months after I terminated service with Santana I received a letter from them indicating that an audit revealed that I had nearly a $2000 credit, and that they would be sending me a refund check. I like the idea of receiving a $2k check, but then I had to ask myself: Why was I NEVER informed by them that I had a credit building up, and thousands of dollars worth of credit at that?

    After waiting 4 weeks for my check I called them to see where MY money was at, and why I hadn't received it. I was informed that they hadn't even started the processes to refund me, and that they would pass it on to accounting to get the ball rolling, but that it would take another 30 to 70 days to receive MY money. Since that initial conversation it's been nothing but one aggravation after another. I've called them several times to see where it was in the process, and never got satisfactory answers. When I finally got them to connect me with a supervisor (Denise **), she promised me an email with an update... NOT!!! I called back several times again, left Denise voicemail, but she never got back to me. When I spoke with representatives and asked for the supervisor they would always tell me the same thing: "she's in a meeting".

    After numerous, pestering calls to them, and after waiting more than 70 days, including the days that they forgot to start processing my refund, I was just told that I would receive my refund within a week... Seeing is believing. But I never did get to speak to supervisor ** again. Apparently she's too busy with meetings or doing something else, that she couldn't even return my calls or provide me with the email update that she promised me. No one was ever rude to me on the phone, but they sure weren't very caring or responsive. Ridiculous, horrible, and unacceptable customer service. If I could give them a negative star, I WOULD.

    A couple of years ago, Santanna had somebody going door-to-door and at the time, the difference between Consumers and Santanna was a dollar. That was a big savings for me because my primary usage is gas. Enrolling with them was pretty easy. I didn’t have any problems with it as well as the option that I could cancel anytime without any fees. After that, I haven’t had to do anything other than re-enrolling recently.

    However, there is one change that was made and the customer representative said it was just made mid-2015. Now they charge a fee when one wants to discontinue the service but I did not know because it’s been so long since I’ve done it. I had gone to a website to find out what their fees were and I was actually paying a dollar more with them than I was with Consumers for almost a year. When I called to actually cancel, she told me, “Well wait, we have new rates.” I still pay a couple of pennies more but it’s simpler for me to pay the couple pennies more than to go through all the billing transactions and waiting two months to have it switched over because of the billing cycles.

    If Consumers goes lower than Santanna, I’m going to go back to Consumers especially with everything going on. I don’t know if it’ll happen, but now I’m going to be charged a $50 fee if I do need to go before the end of the contract. But if I let the contract last on its market value and I said I don’t want to renew it, then they do the billing transfer and I don’t get charged a fee. That’s my impression of how it would work.

    After taking a look at my energy bill, which I rarely do, I saw that we were paying 29% above the market rate i.e. what ComEd would charge. As our 12 mo. contract was up, Santanna coincidentally called around the same time I took notice of the bill offering a better rate. The "promotional rate" they offered was 0.0739/kwh which was 6% above the market rate through ComEd (0.06987/kwh). After I called to cancel, they did offer a rate that was significantly lower than ComEd, but at that point I decided I would rather pay a higher price than support a shady company that is more than happy to overcharge vs. keeping taking care of. Unless you plan to watch your rates monthly and compare them to ComEd, I would avoid energy service companies altogether.

    It started out with what I thought would be reasonable but then it got awful confusing. I knew about Santanna from a relative of mine. I started to look at their website but it wasn’t working good with my particular ZIP code, so I sent them an email instead. They never responded to the email, but then somebody called from Santanna and I said, “Yeah. I'd be interested. Can you give me a price in this?”. They weren't up on all the curves so I called back the next day. They said, “Oh, no big deal. You got to cancel your present alternative supplier.” So I called up my alternative supplier, did that and called them right back within an hour. I thought things were going good. I got the emails properly from you guys.

    All of a sudden, I get a notification that it wasn’t done properly. Consumers wasn’t going to let me move over to Santanna because of the way things were. So first big issue was the training of your call center people – I don’t think they're familiar with all the ins and outs as far as Michigan was. They probably was talking about Illinois or some other state when they said, “Do it this way.” In Michigan, when you did it the way the Santanna person told me to, I eliminated myself from any alternative gas supplier for one year with Consumers. From a legalistic standpoint, what the Santanna rep told me was not correct. You'd think a representative would know what they’re telling you is what you're supposed to be doing.

    I made a decision, but they didn’t. I'm willing to give them a more than 50-50 chance of trying to do right with people because I don’t have too much bad to say about them. It's just that this world is getting automated. You would think their automated site would give you the best information, but it was incorrect as far as the ZIP code finder. That’s how I got talking to a representative, and that didn't do me much better. Your internet works properly with communication back and forth, but the documentations of when and who I talked to, and getting back to me seem kind of spasmodic. Thank God the natural gas pricing ain’t against me this year. I would have been "worstly” affected because of the way laws change from state to state.

    Santanna is better than most. It's a fairly run company and is trying to do a good job. We use their documentation and their paper comes through but they still make mistakes. They have a learning curve. I'm waiting for them to settle down on what they can do. The guy from Santanna would call me back on Friday to see if he got anywhere with the settlement with Consumers that both companies could agree and a happy medium for my problem. They probably would try to address the issue better but my utility might not be – they're sticking to the leader line. My utility is Consumers so I can't complain.

    In Michigan, there's like 15 alternative gas companies, and it's kind of hard to pin the information down. I would think Santanna runs their website as the best as I've run the cost. Things change minute to minute and day to day. When you make a comment to them, you would hope they take your comments and change their website enough that errors are not rammed into people.

    I first heard about Santanna by mail. The price of gas was fluctuating pretty variably and they promised a steady price for the winter months, so that's why I enrolled with them. Enrolling was pretty easy. My interaction with customer service has been good right up until the last time. What I've usually done is just go on a couple of months beyond the contract point and they give me whatever the going rate was at that time. In most cases, it was actually lower than what I have been paying, but this year, it was actually quite a bit higher than what I was paying and quite a bit higher than the contract price that I negotiated, so I wound up paying a little bit too much for a couple of months because of my own inattention.

    I was looking at a fair rate but a level rate and that’s how it all came about. For residential gas, we have Consumers in the state and things fluctuate and so I locked in a rate a year ago. The enrollment process with Santana was pretty much straightforward. They just recorded the information on a contract. I have made recommendations to other people and see if that would work for them.

    When I had a contract with them, I didn’t realize that if the price goes down, I could call them and they’d lock me into a new rate. I thought that was a good idea. If they have a little more customer service, they could probably email people when it would be advantageous to think about something like that and what time of the year it would be best for a customer to consider doing that. Maybe it’d be more negative on their end.

    I wanted to get off the monopoly that we were on. We've never had an open chance to have gas supplier anywhere else. I wanted to see the open market and if I could get a better price. Santanna just hooked it up and they were always really nice and very professional. I chose Santanna over other energy provider because of the contract. Other people, you had to sign a contract and you are not able just to get out as easy. It's like a penalty for leaving but I would never leave them. I love Santanna.     A representative of the Duke Energy Choice Program called us and recommended Santanna because they said the rates would be lower. We were automatically enrolled to Santanna so that process was easy. They seem to be excellent for natural gas but for electricity, they didn't pan out so well. For some reason, they have a high supplier charge and it was making our electric rates very high. The supplier charge was higher than the actual charge for the electricity. I called Duke Energy and she compared rates from last year and they were higher; I thought it should be lower than what they were.

    The lady who worked with me concerning the natural gas cost gave me a wonderful rate for natural gas however. It's lower than what I originally went in at so I was extremely pleased. Therefore I left the natural gas with Santanna but I did move the electric. They seem to be a good company overall though and I'd recommend them still.

    I found another review by Gary of Wadsworth with the exact same facts as my problem. I was contacted by phone just like he was. I spoke with a supervisor because the Santanna price for kWh was a little bit higher than the First Energy price. The supervisor CLEARLY explained that Santanna's price per kWh included BOTH the consumption AND the distribution-related component. It was a long and thorough call. I am not stupid about what I was being told. He clearly explained that the Santanna price included both these parts of my existing Ohio Edison First Energy bill.

    The supervisor added these two parts up and switching to Santanna should have take me from 13 cents to about 9 cents per kWh. Instead my bill is higher by almost 50 percent. The other online comments about the call center implying they were calling from First Energy are also accurate. I assume this will be read by Santanna and they will contact me. I switched 3 accounts over so this is a serious problem for me.

    I've heard other people switching to other carriers for gas and electric, so when I received a call from Santanna, I took the time to listen and they guaranteed that I would save money. There was no obligation to cancel at that time if you didn't save money so I signed up with them, and enrollment was pretty easy. I'm really happy on the gas side - I wasn't saving money from my initial bills but I was able to lock into a different and a lower rate. The rep was very helpful when I inquired after I received my first few bills for gas. I told her I'm not saving any money, and she took the time to explain and helped me understand a little bit better.

    I'm not so happy on the electric side because I'm still not saving money, and I haven't had the time to call and cancel it. But I'm giving electric another shot because of the wonderful rep that I spoke to for my gas, and if the rates drop, maybe I can lock into a lower rate. I would recommend Santanna because of the rep that I spoke with. She made my experience very pleasant and provided great customer service.

    My mother had signed up with Santanna Energy and a couple days later she canceled her services with them. This is within their 7 days that there would not be an early cancelation fee. My mother then called them back after finding out they had not canceled her service like they said they would on July 27. She spoke to an associate name Louis at ext ** that upset her so much that she had me on another phone while talking to him. I then called the same Louis at ext ** on July 27. Asked him to review the tapes because according to him his associates had told my mother to call Duke to also cancel the service. My mother was not told this. Louis said it would take a couple days and so I called back again on July 30. This time Louis said he was sending out an email to request they review the audio and it would take no more than 7 days.

    I asked when should I call back if I do not hear from him or anyone else. He said next Thursday which would have been Aug 6th. I actually waited until Aug 10th only to find out when I called back that they had not reviewed the audio and he had not sent out a request to do so. He then tells me that the original associate that spoke with my mother was looking for the audio because it was not attached to her account. He said it would take 2 to 3 hours. I asked to speak with his supervisor. He said she was unavailable but I could leave a voicemail. He said that it was state law that he must return my call in 24 to 48 hours. This was a misspeak because it is only company policy that she call back in 24 to 48 hours. I waited and after 4 days I had not received a call from the supervisor and called back.

    Louis now tells me that the supervisor will call me some time today. I am extremely angry of how my mother was treated and lied to how they have not kept up with any timelines that they told me they would to solve this issue. My mother followed the directions of their associates and called within the 7 days to cancel her services so that she was not charged a late fee. Now they are trying to tell her she owes them $200 which is NOT the case. This is a problem and it needs to be fixed.

    I was contacted unsolicited by Santanna Energy Services earlier this summer promising that they could save me as much as 1/3 off my Electric bill. When I first answered the call I actually thought I was talking to a representative from First Energy. Only later did I realize this was another electric supplier. Though their price-to-compare was higher than what I was paying, I was assured this was because other separate charges I was currently paying were wrapped into Santanna's price and I was assured their charges would be lower than what I was currently paying.

    I have now received my first bill with Santanna as the energy supplier and I was shocked! I was paying 6.85 cents per KWH from First Energy Solutions. Now I'm paying 9.69 cents per KWH from Santanna. Not only did they NOT save me any money, my overall bill went up 46.6% compared to the prior month though my usage only went up 15.7%. In addition, there is a $100 early termination fee. I feel I was scammed by a slick and dishonest sales pitch and I want out of the contract without paying any early termination fee. I was told that my case would be reviewed by their QA department and they would let me know about the early termination fee after a decision is made.

    My wife received a sales call from Santanna - to switch to their electricity. She was told it would definitely be cheaper for the first year. And we had 7 days to make up our mind. When I came home she told me she had done this well let just say I am not so easy. I did a little research and very quickly knew I was not interested. I cancelled same day. Received my next bill the previous month was $79.37 the new bill is $129.29 for something I canceled the same day. They refuse to remove the charge.     Santanna camt to our door 18 years ago. Enrolling with them for gas was easy - they came to the phone right away. I also enrolled my mother's house two years ago. I check every month with the customer service team for what the going rate is because the one I have is not being offered anymore and they don't have it as a plan where they buy it throughout the year anf store it. With the one I put on my mother's house, I have to call every month to see what it is and then lock in a lower rate for 12 months. The last time I tried doing that, the person didn't know what they were doing and had me on hold for a long time. When I asked for someone else, I got a good one who gave me the lowest rates. I was also told that they have things online but the only thing is that it costs more even though the rate was lower. It turned out that their offer was cheaper so I did that. I have recommended Santanna to others already.

    We've had Santanna Energy for a while now. We decided to look into energy services because the gas prices were just going up and up, over $1.00 per CCF. It was just a matter of saving some money. One thing that I don't like is once I sign up, the communication between Santanna and DTE who delivers the gas here in Michigan seems to take three to four months instead of getting it done within a month and a half or so. I don't know why it always takes so long and I have to call Santanna back and make sure that I'll be getting it at the price that we agreed upon on the phone. Customer service is always nice enough about it though. I recommend Santanna to my friends and I know my brother had gone to Santanna, too but others just don't seem to want to save a little money.

    Santanna called to sell me on switching. The initial person I spoke to had a very heavy Indian accent which was difficult to understand. I asked multiple times for clarification if they were with ComEd as they kept representing themselves as ComEd calling. Because I wanted to lower my rates I'm going to try them, however it was a terrible phone experience. The manager that had to get on the line so I could explain the difference between billing and service addresses and was just as difficult to understand, they clearly could not understand my simple question. Outsourced phone room, whole experience was poor at best. Hope the rates are in fact lower.

    The only issue I have with them is when my gas bill spiked in the winter and I didn't realize that my contract was up for the year. Now, I do call on a monthly basis to try to find out what the cheapest rate is and if I can continually lock into a new plan. It takes some time and it's frustrating but if it means saving me hundreds of dollars down the road, then that's all I got to do.

    I do think that their fees are slightly higher than the other energy provider and that's just something I'm trying to figure out. I look and compare my mother-in-law's bill to mine once in a while. Santanna’s downfall is the additional fees. But other than that, everyone whom I talked to at Santanna has been great. I've actually recommended them to a friend.

    I keep getting people calling my damn phone all the freaking time of the day. Early morning at 5 a.m. and even sometimes at 2 or 3 a.m. Not to mention, constantly calls me during work and throughout the day. I never signed up for this crap nor gave out my number.     It was easy to enroll with Santanna. Their people were able to answer my questions but I had one issue with them. Last winter I didn't realize that after 12 months if I didn't call to renew my lock-in my fixed rate it would go to market value and I got hit with a $6000 gas bill. I was really, really upset and disappointed. They wouldn't budge on helping me out even though I was a customer for so many years.

    I was talking to my neighbor and she said that she was with Santanna and her rate was a lot lower than mine. We have gas from them. Enrolling with them was very easy. I've been with them three years or and I didn't realize I had to renew it after a year. So, I called in April and here it was 20 cents lower than what I was paying which they should let me know if the rate goes down because I was locked in for a year at 52 and its down to 32. But I did call and I got the rate now, they negotiated and sent a new contract out.

    Santanna called me five years ago and when I first got it, they were a lot cheaper. Most of my enrollment were done over the phone. They sent me a paper, filled it up, sent it back, got okayed and that was it. They're always cheaper, however, last year my other provider was less money.     I didn't have any problems when I used Santanna before when I had them two years ago. Their rates made me look into energy services particularly Gas, since Consumers has a variable rate and I don't like variable rates. I got switched back to Santanna and didn't notice any difference in anything but the customer service are always courteous and it's different than other gas companies. It doesn't matter if I got Santanna, I'd go with whoever has the best rate. There's no charge to cancel, so what do you got to lose? I'd recommend Santanna based on my experience with them from the time I had them before, since I just signed up with them for this next year.

    Santanna offered a fixed rate so I signed with them to get gas service. Each year I'd get a letter saying that it's about to expire and that I'm no longer on a fixed rate. If I want to continue, I need to call an 800 number and sign up for the fixed rate, so that's what I've done and it wasn't difficult at all. So far, I'm satisfied and I don't have any issues with them.
