What is VIP Traveler?

VIP Traveler is an alternative to a traditional travel agent that uses an algorithm to create personalized travel recommendations. Users put in their preferences, then the algorithm provides a list of potential vacation experiences. Clients can also work with its Travel Stylists to further tailor their trips and get access to VIP upgrades. The subscription model makes it a good choice for those who travel often and prefer a higher level of service.

How does VIP Traveler work?

VIP Traveler is similar to working with a traditional travel agent. The main difference is in its algorithm technology, which helps to customize travel recommendations. Its technology takes into account your bucket list and other preferences to help narrow down options at the forefront.

The company then offers multiple trips based on your suggested travel wishes. You’ll need to become a VIP member for a representative to help personalize the trip.

VIP Traveler offers a free membership with the option to upgrade to a paid version for $999 a year.

VIP Traveler costs

VIP Traveler uses a yearly subscription model. To get a year’s worth of access to VIP+ Traveler, customers have to pay the $999 membership fee. This price includes access to a Travel Stylist with 24/7 support, proactive trip recommendations, additional savings on all trips and local expertise for on-ground advice.

VIP Traveler also offers a free VIP membership. This membership includes personalized travel finds, Bucket List Builder, VIP benefits at hotels and weekly travel news.

All memberships include free cancellation after 14 days of your purchase — if you’re unhappy and cancel before the 14-day period is up, the company will refund you in full.

VIP Traveler FAQ

What is VIP Traveler’s cancellation policy?

If customers aren’t happy with their subscription, they can cancel within 90 days for a full refund. It’s unclear what the cancellation policy is for trips.

How many trips does VIP Traveler require per year?

None. This is up to you.

Where can I visit with VIP Traveler?

While the company doesn’t list all its travel destinations, it does offer a glimpse at destinations it’s booked in the past, like Nashville and Jackson Hole in the U.S., plus international locations like Bora Bora, Tokyo, Iceland and the Galápagos Islands.

Who can use my VIP Traveler membership?

Only immediate family, if they live with you, can use your membership.

Is VIP Traveler legit?

VIP Traveler is a good option for those who travel often and like to maximize their experience. The downside for infrequent travelers is that you have to pay $495 for an annual membership, regardless of whether or not you travel during that time — meaning the price might not be worth it if you don’t travel often or don’t want VIP upgrades. For those who want to travel luxuriously but would like to save money on all the bells and whistles, though, this company might be a good fit.

Everything with VIP Traveler was okay. It's just they told me that I don't have to pay anything, but I had to pay 65 bucks. It was $12 a day and it was for five days. I didn't even take anything with me but thankfully, I had my credit card on me and I was able to use that. Otherwise, it would have been a bad situation there. I was trying to reach out to VIP. I was sending email, but I didn't got any reply. I wish they could look into it and get me some of my money back. I went to the Maldives. When I was booking it with VIP Traveler, they told me everything is paid there, and I don't have to pay anything. Even on the contract, it was written that I don't have to pay anything. I could understand extra charges for the special meal or drink, but just to stay there, there was something that I wasn't told about that.

Other than that, the booking availability was good. I had discussed with my partner and we were okay with the facilities they were offering. The website was easy to use. I got my confirmation right away. I had a chat with them before going there about everything, if everything was lined up and ready to go. They asked me about my time, my flight details, and I gave them the flight details and they reached out. So then, I reached out to them to ask them if they got what they needed and everything else was good to go.

It sounds like that was Maldives' $6 per person Government 'Green Tax' which is generally paid for daily by any guest staying on the Island. However we do cover this on behalf of our guests, so perhaps there was a misunderstanding on their end on this occasion? We're happy to reimburse you for that fee, and we will reach out to arrange this.

There was a deal online that VIP Traveler was doing and Luxury Escapes was doing as well, but VIP Traveler's deal was better for the resort that I was getting my money's worth. VIP Traveler does the research for you for the destination you're going so you don't have to worry about all the fine details and the nuances of traveling to a specific destination. There are a lot of the fine print details that no one sees, but they make sure they take care of that. They told me about the travel declaration form that I had to make sure I did before and after I left. I didn't even know about that. The seaplane transfer fees normally end up to be about $1,000 each way. Those were all covered for me. They offered complimentary massages and the Instagram floating breakfast. Those weren't even offered to most people that I saw when I was at the resort.

It is a fantastic package and program that VIP Traveler offers because then people don't have to take the traditional route of contacting these resorts and doing a half board or full board or all-inclusive. They made it very easy for me because everything was all-inclusive. Everything was a pleasant experience when we were there. With all the amenities that were offered for us when we were at our stay, it was perfect. The over-water villa was fantastic. It had the sunset view, exactly what my wife and I were expecting. The staff was friendly. The resort that VIP Traveler had a package deal for was fantastic. It's the staff that makes the experience more memorable.

I was gonna use VIP Traveler recently and it didn't end up working out, but three years ago, it was so easy. I had about a couple of back-and-forths by email. I had to change the date, and it ended up working out. The customer service was great, and it was a really great vacation. This time, the selection has tiers of options, the main ones and the less refined ones. We tried to do it with this one option and the dates were a little all over the place and we were suggested to move it a few times. It was a little frustrating because of the adjustments that were requested. The first time we moved it to the suggested date, which was 48 hours later, it was already taken, and then the other dates were more expensive.

One thing I've noted is that I'll keep looking at the site and the main options, and if something comes up, I know to jump on it fast and be really clear about the dates and definitely make sure I look to ensure that the date I'm looking for doesn't have a surcharge for the seasonality. Besides that, the costs are all good for not only the location but also the lack of planning that I would need to do as in I would pay more to not have to plan out 'cause everything has been planned for me. Even with that cost, overall, it's even a little less because of the less amount of work that I am required to do.

VIP Traveler has offers that are very kid-friendly, and I'm trying to plan out a third trip. So now, I have to not only scour to ensure I make a decision quick and check for surcharges, but I am also looking for more understanding of child-friendly options. The previous one that we ended up not going with was very child-friendly, so now that's a prerequisite for me going forward. I wish that would be clearer in the initial updates they provide and new options and opportunities.

      Response from VIP Traveler

Hey Jesse, thanks for your feedback. You’re referring to VIP Exclusives, which are literally “blink and you miss it’ special offers. As they are heavily discounted fixed packages, and limited in availability, they are more restrictive than if you book a custom trip. So yes, if you need to change dates, it depends on availability at that time. For options that are Kid Friendly, consider joining VIP+ for access to a personal Travel Stylist and custom bookings.

Like VIP Traveler said, flexible dates, book now, choose the dates later. It seemed too good to be true. The first trip I did was last year to Bali. They don't have that offer anymore. But I had to change the date a couple of times and it was no issue to do it. The person responded on the weekend. They responded immediately to my email. And they gave me a number to call also on the weekend availability. When I arrived at the airport, I couldn't find where the people were meeting me that were supposed to take me from the airport. So, I emailed. And even though it was in the middle of the night here in the US, I got a response back almost right away.

Everything went great. They emailed a bit before the trip dates with a checklist of, "Here's what to expect. And here's what your trip includes. Here's some phone numbers to contact. Here's some local taxi companies." The second trip didn't include a pick-up from the airport, but that was clearly stated. Everything went smoothly. After I took the first trip, there was no promotion. But the second trip I took, I invited friends to come with us. There was a small token. The trips are not cheap. So, it was not a lot. But it was a 100 bucks off.

I'm going to Maldives and I booked the all-inclusive seven-day over-the-bungalow suite with VIP Traveler. Selecting the package wasn't bad. I just couldn't understand most of it online, and because I couldn't do it online, I had to call them and they did direct me on how to book it. I booked it, and it was smooth. There was a promotion, but then it was half board. It wasn't full package and it was me and my husband's 25th wedding anniversary, so we did the full package.

The rep was very nice. She explained everything into details and directed me to the website and explained to me that until I receive a confirmation, it doesn't mean everything is a done deal because they had to contact the hotel and make sure that the hotel is available then. She explained that I shouldn't buy my ticket any time soon until I get a confirmation. So, everything was very clear. Initially, when we called her, it was like I was bothering her, which I didn't like it but I really liked the package and my husband really wanna take me to Maldives, so I overlooked it.

I just think that should change because I spent over $7,000 buying this package. At least I should have gotten a warm stuff. She probably thought I wasn't gonna buy but it took a while for her to warm up to me, which wasn't nice. My husband and I and my friend travel a lot. It's our hobby. This is the first time I found out about VIP. So, who knows we could change to VIP? But her response wasn't warming to me. I really needed the Maldives to go because it's my dream come true, so I just overlooked her bad habits. So far, everything is good.

As of today, 08/22/2024, my cancellation of contract from November of 2023 has not been honored, or addressed in any professional manner. Ohio offers a three day remorse, thereby allowing a consumer to cancel if desired. After looking into the agency and their business, I discovered not only false information given at presentation, but also discovered several negative reviews. The reviews I could overlook, but the misleading information they gave during the presentation, I couldn’t get past. Currently VIP ignores calls, never returns calls, although they stated to Ohio AG, and the BBB that my refund has been approved, I’m still waiting. Currently working with attorney, and consumer protection agency. State governor next. By the way, Holiday Inn, and other establishments are complicit in the wrongfulness by renting them space. My opinion.

My wife and I booked a Dominican Republic Punta Cana trip for the end of April this year through VIP Traveler. Their site is super intuitive and very easy to use. We did everything online. However, we did want to confirm with somebody at VIP just to make sure everything was official, and we weren't missing anything just because it was our first time using VIP Traveler. Sometimes the discount seems way too good to be true, so we did make sure to reach out and speak to somebody there. We also confirmed with the actual resorts that our reservations were legitimate and they were. In order to confirm those reservations, we did reach out and they were very helpful. We booked the VIP exclusive. When reaching out to VIP Traveler, we were speaking to an actual human being and we weren't passed over to an automated machine, and I thought that was really cool. And every time I reached out, it was always the same person.

We booked three packages and each package consists of two people. The first friend reached out to VIP and asked if we could swap the itinerary so that we could stay at one hotel first and then the other one has the second one. They said that's fine and we were also told that we could have our rooms close to one another. For the second and third packages, we tried reaching out to them and gave them our confirmation number. We asked if they could confirm that our bungalows are gonna be close proximity to one another and we have not heard back. My girlfriend continued to email them because we can't get them on the phone and we still haven't heard from them. The communication is very limited and it's like pulling teeth trying to get answers.
