Booked a room at Holiday Inn for 2 nights in Lincoln, Ne. for a football game through Trivago. Got an email from Algotels on 8/4/25 confirming my reservation. Today, 8/27/25, I called Holiday Inn to make sure of my reservation and found out they have nothing reserved under my name. Called Algotel several times and was unable to talk to an actual person. Did the same with Trivago and no response. Contacted my bank and started a dispute on the charges by Algotel. Meanwhile, I had to book a room directly with the hotel for quite a bit more. Both Trivago and Algotel are disgusting scammers. I see the same thing has happened to other people and my question is: Why aren't there ever any consequences for such fraud?

Please do not use this site, they have outsourced this company to people from India. They job is to steal from anyone and everyone, me and my family booked a hotel and they changed it from 2 weeks later. I work 2 jobs. I can not just go when they feel comfortable like booking me our room 2 weeks later, I need to be back grinding. I couldn't understand 5 of their representatives from India and they would not change it to a smaller room nor facing away from the beach, I just needed a room for that night, I'm willing to sleep on the floor and my family on the bed but they couldn't even do that. Do not trust these demons. They are out just to steal our American dollars.

Recently booked a hotel stay with Trivago Deals, etc. for myself and my Grandson but was forced to CANCEL (for Medical reasons) with 2 days' advance notice via Trivago Deals. This reservation had been paid in advance via Amex for a total of $294.19. They refused to provide a refund in any amount, "as it is against their policy" even though I had checked a box that stated it protected by reservation, and paid an additional $25. I feel that we were cheated out of our money and that Trivago is a SCAM, including their subsidiary Holisto LTD, located in Israel.

I thought I could get a better deal by booking through Trivago so I booked a hotel (in June) one month before my stay. I am still dealing with the aftermath (August). I paid $985 for a reservation but the hotel never had my reservation. I contacted Trivago (Algotels) numerous times over a month and never got an answer. I had to cancel my trip because I had no hotel reservation. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH TRIVAGO. I lost almost $1,000. Just disgusted.

I had booked a room in Atlanta for a conference and then I had some things come up like both my vehicles breaking down. One the fuel pump went out. The other a heater hose blew. And I am disabled due to my back and my daughter had to move in due to not being able to take care of herself and she is pregnant and I can't work. I asked for a refund a week before the booking and they refused. They also had a 0 charge for a cancelation that I had checked before even making the booking. They said they have a no refund policy. How can they have both. I will never use them again.

I booked a hotel room for last weekend. I paid extra for the insurance. The day I was supposed to check in I ended up in the emergency room, where I was admitted (because I was really sick) to the hospital for 3 days. After showing proof of being hospitalized for those days they still refuse to refund my $550. I have tried calling, you get a automated person, email just someone replying saying they want more proof. What more proof do you need.. I will never book through them again.

A quick Google search for Trivago Deals reviews will let you know that this website/search engine is known for poor customer service, difficulty resolving issues and getting timely responses, and booking errors. All of which I can say are true because I experienced each and every one of these issues repeatedly. I first made my booking on 7/6/25 for a room with a King size bed with a balcony and ocean view (which came at a premium cost). I don’t want to include the name of the hotel because the hotel and hotel staff were amazing, this bad review is solely for Trivago Deals and their horrendous customer service.

On 7/11, I called the hotel to confirm my booking; however, they informed me that Trivago had reserved a room with a non-water view. I immediately reached out Trivago customer service and was assured by Brix that this issue was being handled and that I would receive feedback in 24-48 hours. After no response for 3 days, I followed up on my issue and was told by Faye that nobody had done any work on my ticket since I initially called. I was infuriated because it was now 7/14/25 and my trip was supposed to start on 7/17/25.

I was assured by Faye that my ticket was being escalated to the appropriate team, that I would receive feedback in 24-48 hours, and that I could reach out to her personally regarding the status of my ticket. The morning of 7/16, I called the hotel to see if any changes had been made to my reservation, but was told that my booking was still for a non-water view room. I immediately reached out to Faye directly, letting her know that I leave for my trip in 20 hours, that my booking is still incorrect, and that nobody has gotten back to me. At this point, it is no surprise that I didn’t hear back from Faye until 7/18 when she was inquiring about how my check-in had gone.

The evening of 7/16, I called Trivago Deals customer service a mere 8 hours before I am expected to be boarding my plane for the trip. I explained the problem and was assured that an agent would get back to me in 20-30 minutes. 40 minutes goes by and still no call. I call back and I am told that no agents are available to speak with me, but I can expect feedback in 12 hours. I inform the person that I will have already arrived at my destination and be checking into my hotel well before then. I am then instructed to call from the hotel lobby if there is still an error with my booking.

I arrive the next day at the hotel and no surprise that no modifications have been made to my booking. I call Trivago Deals customer service and am told once again that no agents are available to speak with me but that I can expect a call back in 30 minutes. I never received a call back and was forced to just check in with the booking on file. I also never received a refund for the cost difference between an ocean view room and a non-water view room. I have never been more disrespected and disregarded in my life than I was by Trivago Deals customer service.

The whole experience with them was atrocious. It seems their strategy is to keep postponing until you either give up or it’s time for you to check in for your booking. They are extremely unhelpful; each time you call, you are told it will be another 24-48 hours before you will hear back from them and then you never do. They made what was supposed to be an easy-going and relaxing vacation extremely frustrating and stressful. Never again will I book with them, and I hope by reading this post that nobody else ever will. 0 star rating.

On 7/29/2025 I paid and reserved a one night stay at Motel 6 downtown ATL through Trivago. The Motel 6 receptionist contacted me and stated that their system glitched and no one can book any rooms until it's fixed. Causing me to look elsewhere. I contacted Trivago using my reservation receipt emailed to me by Trivago. I requested an immediate cancellation due to no fault of my own and an immediate full refund. I was told both times by Trivago customers service agents to stay by my phone, that they will verify the issue and email me ASAP regarding the results.

I received an email today in the am, stating my $86.00 was applied to my room in which I did not stay in. Then another email after stating, I'll have to cancel my room myself in order to receive a full refund. In which I did on 7/29/2025 over the phone with Trivago agents. This is money laundering and financial scam. I will get all my money back. I have already reported this matter to the higher authorities for investigation. I strongly suggest all customers do not use this company and Expedia. Report everything fraudulent to the higher authorities.

Total scam. Back in April I reserved 3 rooms for 3 nights for a stay in July at a 4* hotel in Rome - Italy for a fairly good price (about $1.2k). Called the hotel about a week later (since it was the first time I booked via Trivago.deals), the hotel mentioned that the tour-operator only booked one room for my party. Imagine me not checking and finding out about the issue only at check-in... I first called customer service (worst ever, outsourced to **, only folks reading scripts) they said they'll fix it. For about two months I only received random emails from them telling me to be patient and that the issue was in work.

The hotel prices were going up as this was booked for high season, so I lost my patience and asked for a refund so I could take my business elsewhere. Same random emails for weeks and weeks saying that my request is processing. I ended up asking my credit card company to step in and recoup my money. Trivago.deals even had the nerve to dispute my request for a refund with the credit card company, but after I presented the email history the credit card company rejected their dispute and credited back my account. Worst booking experience ever with Trivago.deals....

The resort was clearly overbooking tbe popular Palace and moving couples to fill up the half empty Riviera. Contacted Trivago via email and two days later they finally figured out they used Trivago deals to book us. TRIVAGO DEALS then spent 1 week wasting my time with emails and we were already home before saying there is nothing they would do. Wasted time and money on this trip. Lots of time arguing and sending emails instead of enjoying ourselves. Do not use Trivago, Trivago deals or stay at Barcelo Grand Resort in Mexico.

I used Trivago Deals to book a work trip for me and my employees. The booking process was easy, a few clicks, put in my card info, confirmed - they took my payment the same day. I didn't hear anything after that. Because I didn't hear anything from the hotel I booked, I reached out directly to them to confirm my booking, only to find out that TrivagoDeals had cancelled all but one of the rooms I booked. I was stuck, days away from travel with one hotel room and multiple employees to put up. I reached out to their customer service and that was not helpful at all. They opened a "case" and sent me an email so that we could stay in communication. They promised to reach out with an update in 24 to 48 hours. 48 hours, nothing...

I reached out again, nothing, I reached out AGAIN, nothing. All the while they had already taken all of my money for the booking that didn't exist. At this point I still have not head anything from them and it's been a month. I finally resorted to reporting the transaction as fraud as I had no other options, they charged me for rooms I never got. I'll never use them again, and recommend the same for anyone else. Same goes for the original Trivago. Any company willing to affiliate their name to a service that behaves like this is no longer an option.

Less than 48 hours before check-in they suddenly emailed saying the hotel was overbooked and offered a refund or to move me to much smaller inferior hotels that are not even resorts. I called and emailed repeatedly. I spoke with two supervisors — Tessa, who initially seemed helpful but never followed through, and Mia, who gave vague scripted answers with no action behind them. I gave them clear options to fix it and they missed every promised deadline. This trip was for my son’s birthday with other families staying at the same hotel. Their system still shows my reservation as confirmed but I have no place to stay. Trivago failed and is trying to walk away. Do not use Trivago for anything important. The time could not be changed, so we had to change our plans. I called Trivago support and explained the situation, to a gentleman that I could barely understand. He told me that the information would be sent in to be reviewed and I should hear back in 24-48 hours. After the first day, I e-mailed them and explained the situation again, and I e-mailed them again after the 2nd day. No response, but our credit card charged 606.0 for 3 days. Stating we were a no show. I did call the hotel and explained. They were very kind, but of course they could not make the change, so we told them to let the room go as we would not be able to be there. I'm writing this review as a warning to others: stay far, far away from Trivago's customer service nightmare. I've been trying to contact them for a week, and it's been an exercise in frustration. I've called three times and sent two emails, with zero response. No legitimate callbacks that I'm aware of, no resolution, no acknowledgement of my issues. When I did finally get a callback attempt (assuming it was them), it showed up as potential spam on my phone. Of course, I didn't answer it, and no voicemail was left. It's like they're intentionally making it impossible to reach a live person.

If you're in the middle of a vacation and need urgent assistance, you're out of luck. Trivago's customer service is non-existent. The potential savings aren't worth the risk of being stuck with a booking issue and no way to resolve it. Save yourself the headache and book directly through a legitimate site. Pay the extra money for peace of mind and reliable customer support. Trivago's broken system is not worth the gamble. *Update:* I'll continue to try and contact them, but I'm not holding my breath. Until they revamp their customer service, I'll be warning others to steer clear.

Trivago has handed me the worst customer service experience I’ve ever dealt with. Would give zero stars if I could. I am not one to even leave reviews but I couldn’t let this one go without warning others. I booked 2 rooms in advance with them. I had my #1 customer coming to watch some baseball games, we got the Hilton ball park so we could be within walking distance of the stadium, restaurants, etc in a nice safe area.

The night before arrival I get an email that says, sorry we’re overbooked and your rooms aren’t available. I email back and call, no response. So I go ahead and book a Marriott that night. I get an email in the morning that says they have rooms at the Hilton available, just not the one I originally ordered. So remind you, this is the day of my business trip. I call them, get them on the phone and they say yes we can get you the rooms you need there at the Hilton. I said okay, I need you to be sure because I will call and cancel my other rooms if so. They confirmed, so I called the Marriott, they were nice enough to cancel even though it was day of the booking.

Yes, I should’ve waited for the Trivago email confirmation they promised was coming but the longer I waited the more I worried I was about to be double booked. Trivago dropped the ball again, they said they couldn’t get the Hilton rooms and would send me a refund. The Marriott I booked was then full and I had to book a 3rd hotel. Things happen I get it but the worst part of the whole experience was the customer service. Every time you call this call center, you have to go through a 10 part questionnaire to even discuss your booking. Instead of being able to just say the confirmation number, name, etc. So in the 10 calls I made, I wasted all that time only for people to tell me my problem was sent to the “escalation team” and they’d be with me soon over and over and over. Only to never receive phone calls which is why I had to keep calling. I was hung up on multiple times, no one could help me, no one cared.

Finally I spoke with a Ren. She said they’d issue my refund and pay the difference in rooms when I rebooked for my trip. They even sent a follow up email stating to just send the receipts and they’ll reimburse me. I booked a different Marriott, same rooms, I tried to stay close as I could to my original booking prices but booking day of is always higher. I spent an extra $300 total for 2 rooms, 2 nights. I thought I did good for them. Submitted the paperwork and they’re back to ignoring me.

Trivago is a joke. Hilton and Marriott were both great to deal with in this nightmare but there’s only so much they can do. I almost always book direct but the Hilton ball park I was set on staying in didn’t have availability direct, Trivago stated they did because they always book up so many rooms in advance. I should’ve known better. Just a warning to everyone. I doubt Trivago makes an effort to even try and dispute my claim but I have all the receipts if so.

If I knew I would be charged more money I would’ve booked with somebody else.. I thought this would be a simple process. After speaking to them, they promised me a refund and they still yet to give me one.. I will never use this site again. They are scamming.

I wish I could give Trivago zero stars. My experience with them has been awful. As I was checking in to my hotel, I found out from the hotel front desk worker that my reservation was cancelled. I received no warning from Trivago, and I did not authorize this cancellation. On the spot, I had to quickly book a new reservation with a different company so my pregnant wife, 17 month daughter, and I had a place to stay.

I called Trivago to get a refund for my cancelled trip. This process has been a nightmare. First of all, they wanted me to send the hotel folio proving I checked in under a different reservation number even though the agent I talked to confirmed the number was different. After sending Trivago the hotel folio, the communication with the escalation team immediately stopped. For 6 days, I would call customer service, they would escalate my concern and assure me I would receive a call within 24 to 48 hours. This never happened.

When I demanded to talk to a supervisor, the customer service representative said they were in a meeting or did not have access to a manager. Therefore, I have been am stuck in a maddening loop with no resolution in sight. Because Trivago refuses to work with me, I am now disputing the charge with my bank. Do not use Trivago. I made a booking through Trivago and it seemed straightforward until I tried to find out my hotel booking number, as opposed to the Trivago booking number. It was nowhere to be found on the email or booking record online so I called customer service. I am leaving in a couple of days, so I wanted to make sure the reservation was booked. When I spoke to “Charm,” she seemed rushed to get through the call. I told her I just needed the hotel’s booking number but she asked me for all the information that should have been in my reservation, even after I gave her my Trivago booking number. I am not exaggerating when I said all she wanted me to spell out my name, email, phone, etc.

I started to question whether a hotel reservation even existed. She said they would need to “escalate it” and will get back to me in 24-48 hours. I explained that I’m leaving in a couple of days and was only looking for the hotel booking number, but now I was concerned there was no reservation at all. When I asked her to guarantee that I have a reservation, she hung up on me. Needless to say, I called the hotel and they confirmed, but they said since it’s booked through Trivago, I won’t earn credits/points and the hotel company app won’t work. I should have used Priceline, Expedia or directly with the hotel. Priceline has amazing customer service. Very disappointed and can’t believe they hung up on me. Never again.

I booked a hotel stay through Trivago and was shown a clear breakdown of charges, including what was listed as a single resort fee to be paid at the property. There was no indication that the fee applied per room or per night. Upon arrival, I was charged much more than expected — the resort fee was applied twice, one per room, and included additional taxes.

When I contacted Trivago customer support, they repeatedly deflected responsibility to the hotel, despite the fact that the booking confirmation on Trivago's platform was clearly misleading. I tried to resolve the issue directly, but support was unhelpful and unwilling to acknowledge the problem. I won’t be using Trivago again — travelers deserve transparent pricing and accountable customer service.

I asked them why they couldn't just take care of it now, they said it's not a part of the process. I requested to speak with a supervisor, and of course, they kept saying they were busy on another call. I said I will wait. All of a sudden, he couldn't understand me because of a language issue. He hung up on me. I went, canceled my entire booking. Hopefully, I will get my full refund as I was told when booking, I had to the 8th of August to cancel, which is over 60 days away. We have been hung up on and everything else. We booked a room in Chicago because my husband is receiving treatment at the University of Chicago Hospital as a stage four cancer patient. We paid for a week and received our receipt, but they included a different email address and phone number. As a result, we're unable to modify our reservation, use the hotel, or receive a voucher for different dates. The email and phone number on file do not belong to us. We were accidentally informed of the email address they had on file, which is strange and unrelated to us.

The hotel is unable to provide us with the correct contact information. Additionally, Trivago is unwilling to assist us. They claimed to have contacted the hotel, which told them everything was fine. However, when we reached out to the hotel after receiving Trivago’s message, they said they couldn't help because Trivago used the wrong email address and phone number. We are incredibly frustrated by this situation. We have lost a significant amount of money, which we cannot afford while dealing with cancer and its associated costs. Shameful policies, especially for the disabled. I made a reservation thru Trivago so this is on them too. Because I am disabled, I always vet the property for dining options, and I visit the actual hotel website to peek at their menus to be sure there are healthy options and room service. I settled on Magnolia after doing my usual due diligence. A few days before my stay, I went to look at the menu again, and the link to it popped up a message that all on-site dining options were temporarily closed (for remodel or repairs, I was told when I called to inquire).

I immediately reached out to Trivago to "exchange" my hotel to another hotel that had on-site dining, and this change would have cost me more, but I was fine with that since it's a necessity for my situation. Trivago took their sweet time to escalate my request and my reservation was then in a "nonrefundable" state. As I said, I did not want nor ask for a refund, but I did insist that my funds be reallocated to a hotel which could meet my needs. Trivago then told me that "Magnolia already has your money so you'll have to take it up with them". That's crap, but ok, so I called Magnolia and they were SO RUDE.

The front desk woman flippantly asked "Well what do you want me to do"? I asked what my options were. If I can't get room service or haul my butt to an on site eatery, I can't stay here, do you have a sister hotel? Nope, and "When you check in, you'll have a $100 balance due for resort fees,". My Trivago receipt clearly says $60 resort fee which I agreed to, but not $100. The Magnolia woman literally raised her voice at me even after I said, "Well my receipt says $60..." So this would have been a deal breaker even if the on-site dining options weren't an issue. At this point, I said, "Well I won't be checking in, so how do I go about getting a refund?" Of course, she said call Trivago but not before telling me I would still be hit with the nonrefundable resort fee.

I put a hold on my credit card and called Trivago back and those jack wagons refused to reallocate my funds to a more expensive hotel even though 2 contracted issues were clearly being breached. I wrote a letter to the Magnolia parent company as well and they didn't even have the decency to even acknowledge. I had to dispute the charge with my bank and needless to say, I will never consider using Trivago, or staying at the Magnolia for these reasons. By now an hour has gone by with waiting so after no one calls me back I go through this 4 more times until finally I get through to a escalation agent ALL FOR HIM TO TELL ME HE WOULD TRANSFER ME TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT AND PLEASE HOLD. I took a deep breath and went with it because at least this was the furthest I had gotten. Then he comes back and says their agent was available and they would call me back in an hour!

I asked to speak to someone else or have him make me understand who actually made any decisions in their company and let me speak to them because by then it had been 4 hours of back and forth and absolutely no progress. He said he was sorry for the inconvenience and gave me a number to contact for another person. When I called that one it just redirected me to the people from the beginning and the cycle was completed. All I wanted was to add my mom name to the hotel reservation and instead spent 5 hours in the 7th circle of hell and lost out on the booking and my money because my mom could never check in.

I don’t actually think anyone really does anything at Trivago and it’s probably just some elaborate scam to make you repeat yourself 50 times along with your name, number and email address. They are probably just used my 5 hours of mental gymnastics and torture to train the next generation of AI. Needless to say my soul is dead and Trivago needs to be replaced by my 9 year old sister because at least she can tell her left to right and how to direct at call. In all time no one called me back once. I received one email hours later and after we had booked another hotel saying they still hadn’t resolved the issue and please hold…

If there was a choice to give this company, no stars that would be too generous. The experience that I had with this company is beyond unbelievable. When I booked the room it doesn’t give you the room description on your receipt. I booked a two queen hotel room. I called customer service to make sure that the room was correct. It allows you to tell a person your problem, but it doesn’t allow you to actually speak to the person that is working the problem. You call them, they take a message and then someone write you an email back.

I started the process of making sure my room was correct a week before it was too late to change your reservation. The only way I found out that I had a king bed instead of my two queen beds is calling the hotel myself and asking about the reservation. I called this company back to inform them that the reservation was not correct. We went back-and-forth for days and then they send me an email back saying that it’s too late to change my reservations. When I originally started complaining about the wrong reservation. It was not too late but we went back-and-forth with emails until it was too late. I explained to them that it had to be a double bed because my grandmother could not sleep with me in one bed. The fact that this was the first time that I have dealt with this company makes it even worse. This was the worst customer service ever!!!

For starters, my reservation was canceled without my knowledge 2 days after I made the reservation on 2/23/2025. I did not receive a phone call nor did I receive a cancelation email. They did not even refund me the money after they made the cancellation. I only found out that my booking was canceled when I arrived at my hotel that I had to drive 3 hours for. I was on and off the phone with customer service for 5 hours until I had to finally ask for a full refund because they couldn't find any other availability.

I was in Rocky Mount, NC for my daughter's volleyball tournament and the rates were 3 times more than usual cost and fully booked at all surrounding hotels. Keep in mind check-in was at 16:00. The last agent I spoke with was rude, had an attitude and hung up the phone on me. I will NEVER use this service again and absolutely DO NOT recommend using them! We then contacted Traveluro who then again stated that there were no room available at the Royal York but offered us a room at a three star hotel called The Beverley. We reluctantly accepted this reservation because we were out of options.

Shortly after we were advised that our booking at the Beverley was cancelled due to overbooking and were offered a booking at the Double Tree which was currently under renovations. As a matter of fact you could barely gain entrance to the main doors of the hotel. Again we had no choice but to accept and that's where we stayed for three nights. The moral of the story is that when you're booking through a third party you don't have a confirmation #. As confirmed by the Royal York it's just a temporary confirmation and if there is high demand the third party reservations are cancelled.

Only my wife’s persistence got the clerk’s supervisor involved. However, after approximately 50 minutes on the phone with the clerk and Cancelon the call got disconnected. I called the hotel and was told by Thai that the matter had been resolved. I was given a confirmation number, told that we would have a Deluxe Balcony King Room, and extra amenities would be placed in our room because of the inconvenience. We assumed that the matter had been resolved. After the call, we received an email from Logan with The Cancelon Team stating that our booking had been confirmed by “ms Thai” from the reservation team of the hotel.

On January 18, 2020, we arrived at the hotel at approximately 2:00 pm and when attempting to check in at the front desk we were told unapologetically by two desk clerks that we did not have a reservation because Cancelon had made a mistake – and that the hotel had no rooms and we were going to be sent to another hotel. This was totally unacceptable since we had been told the day before that we had a room, were given a confirmation number, and had received the email confirmation from Cancelon. Plus, my wife and I reserve the right to choose where we stay; the hotel doesn’t get to simply send us to some other hotel that may or may not suit our needs. Our situation was turned over to a supervisor named Mimi and we were told we would have to wait while she would try to get this resolved. Finally, after almost a two hour wait, Mimi informed us that they were able to find us a room.

My wife and I blame Trivago for this extremely poor service and horrible experience. We booked this reservation through Trivago, and put our trust in the fact that this reservation was being made correctly by Trivago. It was only at the end of the reservation process that we saw any mention of Cancelon’s involvement. Trivago may choose to use Cancelon but, again, we contacted Trivago to make this reservation, not Cancelon. So we feel strongly that Trivago must assume responsibility for this series of problems we experienced.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Vegas for Valentine's day (3 night stay). I was looking at hotel rates for Excalibur. Trivago showed $399.00 where many others were more. I usually read reviews ahead of time, but failed to this time. Ugh... I booked the room through Trivago, thinking I was getting a good deal. When I booked it, it never showed me that there were added fees or the total price. It should have been a red flag when it said no cancellation. About 10 minutes after I booked, I got an email that showed the total. $501.00. I was so mad, so I called the number (45 mins of ringing and recording of how important my call was to them), to a third party vendor, who sounded like they were in India and I could barely understand and I asked why it was now $501.00. Answer... Taxes and Fees. I asked to get a copy of it so I could see the breakdown.

He sent me a copy that showed taxes and fees $102.00. Seriously??? I should have booked directly through the hotel. I still have not gone on this trip, so I am praying my room isn't as bad as some of the others in the reviews. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE TRIVAGO! IT IS BS. They should be sued for misleading people and have to show you ALL fees before you submit your payment. I will follow up with another review if my room is not acceptable at Excalibur.

You also are not dealing through a third party who will do nothing for you if you need to change your reservation. Trivago has nothing to offer!

What these booking companies don't tell you.... You cannot claim your Hotel rewards points when you book through Trivago. For example Hilton Honours points etc. Our experience booking 5 accommodations on our last trip to the USA through Trivago - every booking was in an inferior room and a million miles from the car park. The prices worked out more expensive! and it was very difficult to make a simple amendment to the booking.

This trip we booked through the individual Hotel websites. We got excellent rooms every time, we built up points and got a free night, the price was CHEAPER, and the process of amending a booking was simple through the Hotel website. It may take a little longer, but is well worth booking your accommodations through the Hotel websites themselves.

I noticed on my bank card that the charge was to a company called OTEL in Istanbul, Turkey instead of Trivago. Even my bank wanted to know if I had traveled to Turkey. Upon inspection, I found that Trivago uses “partners” to Actually perform the booking, hence, OTEL.

In November my plans changed and I no longer needed the reservation. I tried to cancel on the OTEL website and the pop-up I received repeatedly indicated that I had no reservation. “You have no trips”, it said. I resorted to online Chat with a Rep who said that she canceled the reservation and would send a confirmation email and my money would be returned within 2 weeks. Nothing happened. I kept trying to cancel online. A week before the scheduled check-in, I get a reminder about the reservation, so I emailed right away to cancel. The reply was that “it is too late to cancel”. So, I am out over $600.00 with no assistance at all. Don’t use this service!

So we booked a hotel online through Trivago and when we showed up at the hotel 3 weeks later we found out our reservation had been cancelled 3 days after we had made the reservation. Our mistake - I thought the confirmation went to my husband and he thought it went to me - we didn't realize that we never got a confirmation email until the day of our trip. Even so, they did charge our CrCard so we figured we would be ok. Luckily the hotel had some rooms (extra $100 night ugh... lesson learned)...

When I called 'LoveVacations' they confirmed that our reservation had been cancelled 3 days after we booked the hotel but couldn't specify a reason why. They also said they tried to contact us. I confirmed that they had the correct email for my husband so there was no reason we shouldn't have received the original confirmation and the cancellation. We even checked our spam and junk folders but nothing there - e.g. nothing was ever sent. In hindsight - I'm thinking they couldn't honor the night/rate they gave us so they just cancelled. Why we never got any emails will remain a mystery. They did say we should have a credit within 72 hours - we'll see. In summary - I'll never use this sight again and I will warn anyone I know to steer clear.

BUYER BEWARE TRIVAGO!!!! I wanted to share my story about booking a vacation on Trivago. I don’t want anyone to fall into the trap I did. I booked a vacation a few weeks ago to Cancun for six nights through Trivago. When I booked it it said it was through a “partner” called Love vacations or holiday (something like that..). Anyway in the process of booking it I duplicated the request which they were ever so eager to charge my card for almost 8k. I called the next morning to tell them I only wanted the one vacation and they told me they would not charge the second one since it was still pending and that it would take three days to confirm whether the booking they sold me was even available.... Are you kidding me? Thank goodness I hadn’t booked the airfare that night.

It took six days and about six phone calls to Mexico and England trying to get a real human to take a call and confirm this booking was even confirmed. I started to get anxious when I saw the nearly 8k charge went from a pending to an actual charge. I started reading bad reviews about this “partner”. Finally on the sixth day I got a call from someone in England and guess what? That room I booked was not available... I was furious. So I told them to refund the money and that they had still not refunded the double booking at this point either.

Two days go by and then they finally refund my money for both charges. I thought this was all resolved until today.. They charged my card again almost three weeks later for the same amount for a booking that they can’t fulfill! This is insane. I thought by going through Trivago a reputable booking site that this would be painless. However, it has turned out to be a nightmare. BE CAREFUL!

I booked a room to 6 nights at Cabo Villa and Beach Resort. On the Trivago site it listed a price of right around $1537. It also said that their PARTNER - CANCELON will be booking this reservation. So I pressed accept and the next thing I know it’s over $2090 BUT I pressed accept accidentally. So, I immediately call CANCELON to cancel the reservation. They said "Sorry” and that you can cancel for a fee of between $200-$300 but you can’t just cancel the reservation. UNBELIEVABLE!!! NO LIE, I called immediately after making the reservation.

Wait....it gets BETTER. So CANCELON did say if I find a cheaper rate they will match it. So that evening I went searching. I found a rate for $1402.18 for the exact same room, at the exact same time. I found it on KAYAK. Yes, KAYAK. So I called CANCELON to tell them. They said to take screen shots and email it to them, so I did. After going back and forth with the rep he said that mgt. will cancel my reservation with them at no charge.... I SAID, "THE HELL YOU WILL. YOU WILL DO AS YOU SAID YOU WOULD DO AND MATCH THE PRICE so I don’t have to do all the work to make the reservation". After many minutes of arguing they refused to match the price.

BOTTOM LINE: You need to stay away from Trivago and its partner CANCELON. I don't even know if it's legal to not be able to cancel a reservation immediately after making the reservation BUT if it is legal then you really want to stay away from these companies. There was no need for the stress and hours of bs on the phone with them. On Trivago there's a price but be careful, once you click on the price it takes you to another page with added costs so don't click fast like I did. You should never use Trivago or Cancelon. KAYAK was very easy to work with and was upfront about the total cost from the beginning. NOTE: I do not work for or have any ownership in KAYAK ownership in KAYAK.

By the time you hit the button 'submit' and see the final totals, it will be too late for you to cancel the transaction.

I had never booked a hotel through Trivago before, but I was going to Washington DC in June and Trivago somehow had rates that were substantially lower than other sites. So I booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn, Washington DC-U.S. Capitol for $349, including tax. But when I arrived at the hotel--in a drenching rainstorm--I was told they had no record of my reservation. On top of that, the hotel was fully booked. The clerk said I was the third person to show up that day with a Trivago reservation they had no record of. I showed them my confirmation email but the clerk said there was nothing he could do. Turns out Trivago funnels people to third-party bookers, and some of them aren't reputable. (The clerk said the one in my case was called Hotel Beds.)

Fortunately, I had paid for the room through American Express, and they are pursuing a refund. But I still had to find somewhere else to stay. So I resolve NEVER to use Trivago again. Better to book a room directly through a hotel chain's website, or to use Booking.com, which has never let me down. And I'm not so anxious to visit another Hilton Garden Inn, either. They were no help at all in finding me another place to stay.

I tried to research hotel prices in Washington for September 2019. The site seemed easy to use and showed dates when prices were higher or lower so I could adjust dates. I found a few deals that seemed interesting, BUT when I clicked on the deals my departure date had been changed. When I corrected the date, the daily priced DOUBLED. I tried it with Booking.com, Expedia and Hotels.com; all showed the same price doubling when I corrected the date. This shows Trivago is a scam that just puts in fake price to get you to a booking site. This site should be reported to the government for fraud.

(i.e. Expedia.ca) I have booked approx. 3 trips a year like that. I thought I would try Trivago.ca. Once booked I received a call from a company called Hotel Power and they asked if I had received a confirmation email regarding my booking. I checked and was horrified to see I had been billed $7657.00 Canadian. I said no that is not the correct amount. They insisted I booked US. I took a screenshot of the booking showing it was Canadian. They said they would get back to me in 7-10 days.

I wasn't comfortable with that due to the amount had been charged to my credit card. I spoke with credit card company and they said I need to ask for the amount to be reversed. I then found a Trivago email and they did answer quite quickly and I forwarded them the info too. They did arrange to credit my account but it ended up being short $149.00. They said it was due to exchange rates fluctuating. I should not be penalized in any way. I was promised it would sent to accounting for followup. I cannot recommend Trivago to anyone at this time.

Our credit card was billed within 24 hours. On 5/3/19 I received an email from Hotels for Everyone saying they were going out of business and "unfortunately your hotel reservation has most likely been cancelled by the supplier and you may need to make other arrangements".

I called the hotel that day and was told we had a reservation that was paid for. I called again a week later just to make sure and was told it had been cancelled two days prior by HotelBeds.com??? Be very very careful booking anything through Trivago. A large percentage of their bookings are done through very shady companies. Only deal with legitimate companies such as Expedia or through the hotel chain directly. Booking through anyone else is very risky and most likely a scam.

I placed a reservation through Trivago in late January for the Hilton on Daytona Beach for Saturday March 30th to the morning of the 31st. My daughter was performing/competing across the street at the Convention Center that Sunday. I got into the hotel and I was told by the desk manager at the Hilton that I was moved to another hotel. They claimed to have reached out to me. I had called the Hilton that Wednesday to confirm my reservation. They would not give me exact details because I had gone through a 3rd party but I WAS told that I did have a room. I never received any other follow up calls.

Move up to Saturday and here I was angry and frustrated that I was told I was being sent a few miles down the beach to a different hotel. I immediately got on the phone to Trivago once I was checked in at the new location, but I got a voice mail and was asked to leave a message with my reservation number and contact info. Now this new hotel was ok but NOT up to the quality of the Hilton. Lights were out in the halls. Water stains up near the ceiling inside my room and it was an older building. Ok for a night but not where I had been planning to be for 2 months. Trivago contacted me the following Monday via email and asked for details about me being moved from the Hilton to a lesser quality hotel when I had a reservation AT the Hilton. I gave them dates, contact information and locations. They did some research.

Overall, this took about 10 days. The Hilton told me they tried to reach out to me (NOT) but the company that set up my reservation NEVER heard from them. This is what I was told. It was the Hilton that moved me to a new hotel. I had to pay $17.00 at the new hotel to cover the facilities fees (plus a $100 deposit that was later refunded) that night that I got into Daytona. The Hilton covered my room at the new location. Now because it was the Hilton that chose to move me, Trivago refunded the amount I paid last January which was over $160 for my reservation. I am STILL disappointed I did not stay at the hotel of my choosing, BUT I only paid $17 for a hotel on Daytona Beach when all was said and done. And I'm very OK with that. Kudos to Trivago for putting customers first!

Now hotels quickly are refusing to refund us our money and Trivago have told us to talk to our credit card issuer who can't really help. I'm fuming!

Another booking canceled at last minute by Hotel Quickly - So the lesson I have learned here is simply. I will never again book anything thru Trivago, Simply put they advertise a product, take a percentage of the money then back away with no responsibly whatsoever to fix any problem. Trivago, never, never, never again.

Booked an apartment through Trivago search engine choosing HotelQuickly for a break end of December to Edinburgh. This was booked in June. Received an e-mail on the 8/12/18 telling me that my booking has been cancelled "a bit last minute to book another apartment as the prices have doubled". Was told that I would receive a credit voucher. "Some hope of getting that" after reading loads of complaints regarding HotelQuickly. I will never use a search engine again to book holidays and stay away from HotelQuickly. Thanks for ruining a long awaited break. :(

Booked a hotel in Hong Kong using Trivago that advised HotelQuickly as the cheapest price. Booked the hotel for New Year and booking received by the hotel. Have now received email saying booking cancelled due to an unforeseen issue. Checked with the hotel to find the room was cancelled 5 December possibly by HotelQuickly. Doubt there will be a reimbursement. Do not deal with this company.

I've never felt so used in my life. After booking a one night hotel stay in Raleigh, NC and being told that the reservation was DEFINITELY refundable 48 hours in advance of the stay the weather report changed to a prediction of heavy snowfall on the day of our travel. At this point I'm five days out from the travel date we decide to just cancel and go another time. When I call the service number for the booking company I'm told that the reservation is non-refundable for the hotel I've book.

I call the hotel where I always stay in Raleigh and they tell me that their policy is to refund the amount and especially in the case of winter weather. I call the booking company back and they hard-nose with, "This is definitely a non-refundable situation." I check my bank account and sure enough they have charged my account from my debit card. I call the bank and they put in a claim for the amount but tell me it could take 90 days to resolve. Bottom line is that I will never use this service again. I don't like being lied to. Also, the amount charged was higher than what I was told on the phone. If I could give them zero stars I would.

Never and never book any service through trivago. I paid my hotel in advance through trivago one week ahead my trip to New York. When I checked in, the hotel told me that my hotel reservation was canceled. I called trivago and they answered that they do not know why. I have to rebook the hotel at a much higher price and immediately filed a dispute with my bank to remove the payment from trivago. Very bad experience in Hotel Pennsylvania, too! Room is very poor quality and unimaginable dirty. Stay away from trivago and Hotel Pennsylvania! It is a shame to have such an untrustworthy service in the USA.

Trying accomplish ANYTHING with Trivago is VERY DIFFICULT since their offices are APPARENTLY in Germany. In the future I will only make reservations DIRECTLY with the facility. Doing business with offshore organizations is TERRIBLE!!

I booked a one night stay at the Willis Hotel in Wellington, NZ through Trivago using my credit card. Everything was fine, I received the confirmation my booking had been made. That was until the morning I was due to arrive at the hotel, when I received an email stating my reservation had been cancelled due to an 'invalid' credit card. I called up the hotel directly and luckily there was still rooms available. Do I rebooked using the same credit card for the same price, after complaining to the hotel what Trivago had done to me at the last minute. Extremely poor service from Trivago. My credit card is not invalid and if incorrect details were entered, which they weren't, why would it take Trivago 48 hours to cancel a reservation which had been previously confirmed. That doesn't make any sense. I will not use them again.

We paid through Trivago. Hotels wanna kick us out. They are asking for higher price than what we paid even though our booking was confirmed. Trivago did nothing to us. They left us without our problem and now we are in loss for all what we paid and must find another hotel. Avoid avoid in all cases. No trusted company. They don't even have a phone number. They are replying you, "We are a price comparison website." Means they take money % from you and give you 0 service.

You should know that Trivago has scammed and fraud websites! All Trivago do is giving you booking websites with low prices. It happened to me, yesterday was my first time using Trivago. (I already don’t like it because of Trivago commercial, now I hate it). So what happened to me that Trivago showed me a low price at Istanbul hotel, when I pressed go "booking" something like this. So now am on otel.com page, I wish I did some research before using it, if you search for otel.com reviews you will notice how there is negative reviews! Of course positive reviews were done by their team.

So I booked a triple room (they said it is 25m2 which is not), I paid everything and they sent me a voucher and a reservation code. So I talked to the hotel, I gave them my reservation number he said, "Am sorry, I don’t have it!" I tried to get in touch with otel.com customer desk, nothing at all (even on the voucher hotel phone number was wrong and fake email address). After this I saw many many many bad reviews and some people had my same case! My deal had no refund action so I lost my money. Don’t ever ever use Trivago or TripAdvisor because it gives you so many scam and fraud website specially otel.com and many! Be careful and always always try to book and pay at the hotel and not online!!! Hope it will help someone!!!
