I have been using Kayak for years and generally have found that the agencies on Kayak, even if I never heard of them, were above board. This morning I bought a ticket through Kayak through an agency called mytrip. An hour later I realized I needed to cancel and book differently - the airline charged me a 40% fee! When I did some research on mytrip and the true agency, gotogate in Florida, I discovered a string of 1 star reviews and an F rating with the BBB. When I contacted Kayak they said they will try to help by contacting their mytrip rep but are not able to assist any other way.

The lesson here is that Kayak provides no screening for the agencies they list on their site. Any screening would have found the red flags I found after the fact. As such they are allowing predatory travel agencies on their site. Be careful when booking through Kayak, just because they list the agency doesn't mean they are a reputable agency!

I booked a flight in 2021 through Kayak and had to cancel due to corona virus and rebook for 2022. They have an exchange service which I contacted. It took several phone calls and many hours on hold to get an agent to take care of me. Then, the email link they sent me to confirm the changes didn't work. It was a pure nightmare experience, and on top of that, I had to pay an additional $600 per ticket for the exchange. The whole experience took in excess of 30 hours.

Kayak's advertising department needs to STOP with the biased ads, where they make men appear stupid and ignorant and the females superior. Unless Kayak doesn't need men as customers. It's not very business savvy to alienate a customer base by offending said potential clients. Most travel expense is bore by men, as they are the primary bread winners, and command a higher income than the female consumers. I know that Kayak's biased activities have lead my household to spend our travel expense funding with other agency's, rather than Kayak, due to the offending advertising. That type of advertising, that offends men, affects Kayak's revenue generating (sales), and hurts the bottom line, annual profit. It's the principle of the matter, most men won't do business with a company that offend them. It's human nature.

I looked up prices for flights and upon finding a reasonable priced round trip service I attempted to book through Kayak. I was redirected without warning to another site ** that has only 1 star reviews. Upon completing the booking process through what I thought was a Kayak service, this secondary site Kiwi, unbeknownst to me changed the end date of my flight. Now I am left with the financial responsibility to book my original flight seen on Kayak or left to accept the altered booking from this secondary travel agency. Kiwi charges a large fee for any changes and Kayak's redirect made me use this untrustworthy site. Kiwi says my booking has no connection to Kayak since the redirect took me directly to their site and there is no proof Kayak was involved at all on their end.

Updated on 11/05/2020: Just imagine if you clicked on a link Google gave you and somehow, $1200 was stolen from you because you clicked on the link. You would say that Google was responsible, right? Especially if that link had a formal business relationship with Google! That's Kayak. These people are IRRESPONSIBLE for their resellers. Kiwi.com stole $1,200 from me. Oh, I know, they didn't "steal" it: My refund is in process for six months. And the company that introduced me to these sleazebags? KAYAK.COM.

Of course, Kayak has responded to me, but it's all the same, blah, blah, "we can't do anything", "we're just a search engine"... Yeah! A search engine that connects you to international criminal organizations! The worst is that Kiwi.com saves money by denying support. You got it. There is literally no one to talk to because I did not pay extra for email support. The phone support just hangs up on me. Is this a bug? Or is it a criminal organization? Kayak doesn't care either way. Be very careful never to use Kayak for international travel. I hold them responsible for what happened to me. When I book any flight now, I use Hotwire.

Original Review: I never got into trouble with Kayak for domestic US flights. (Unless you count the time I learned the hard way never to fly Spirit Airlines.) The first time I used Kayak to book internationally was the last time I used Kayak, ever. They obviously don't vet their resellers. I get that you're a search engine, but if you return bad results, it makes you a bad search engine. Now, too late, I have learned a painful, useless lesson never to buy Kiwi.com or through Kayak.com.

I'll run it down for you if you want more details. I bought a booking to Croatia through Kayak, from Kiwi. They changed my flight twice. Once on Jan 30, and again on Feb 4. Both changes were with longer layovers. You are offered to pay more to keep your original layovers, but if you do not pay more, Kiwi obviously considers themselves to be selling you the same product that you bought. So now it will take me 35 hours. Fine. I am a tough guy. I will sit in the airport and read a book for 12 hours in Dublin or Warsaw or where ever they change my layover to.

This morning, the coronavirus hit Croatia. I wanted to call to ask if I could cancel. No problem, here's a phone number. I call it, enter my booking number and it says, "An error has occurred. Please call again later." I called again, not much later, same thing. I called a third time and it's one of those IVR systems that feels it's justified in hanging up on you if you don't enter your booking number. Smug ** IVR. No problem, I'll email. Ooops! I bought the 'basic' package that has no email support. So literally, I cannot call or email anyone about my booking. I replied to the email and received an autoreply directing me to kiwi.com. There is literally nothing I can do about my booking now. I will never use Kayak or Kiwi.com ever again.

Horrible! Still at ACE rental car in Sacramento trying to get my rental. Your site advertised a Hotwire deal and nowhere does it say “it is at least 20 minutes away and there is no shuttle, but an Uber service you have to call through and wait for”. REALLY!!?? I found out while in the Sac airport rental bldg, that ACE is NOT in this bldg. I called Ace and they said (after 2 people) that they would call me back in 10 minutes of where to meet uber. Over 30 minutes later, I called them back and they said they can’t pick me up at rental car bldg and that I needed to go back to airport. After complaining, they said they can send an Uber to rental car bldg. I finally got to ACE rental car and am now standing online waiting - it has been over an hour since I hopped on shuttle to rental car booth and still no car.

This is ridiculous and I don’t have time to waste and am missing work meeting now. You need to advertise correctly. If all rental cars are off-airport, that doesn’t tell someone that ifs not the close REAL rental car bldg!! AND no shuttle! I never would have rented from here! And now the car insurance is $26/day and I don't have any other options as I am in the middle of nowhere!!! More than the vehicle itself! I booked a flight through Kayak and was re-directed to flight partner Flyfar. They are shady and use deceptive means to rip people off with fake offers. I spent the $72 in flight change insurance. I called to change the outbound part of my flight and the cost to "change the flight" is more than it would cost me to purchase a brand new ticket. This is because they no longer honor the prices online and make up their own prices for change flights. I was also told the taxes were so different between the cities. When I asked what the change in taxes were the agent was unable to tell me and said it wasn't specified to him. It is also cheaper for me to buy a brand new ticket to fly between the cities I now need to go to instead of changing 1 leg of my trip. I am left realizing that the ticket exchange insurance is a racket. The intention was never to honor it and have written a bunch of hidden rules designed to rip off the customer.

I'm a member of Kayak.com. I recently went on Kayak and purchased a ticket through Vayama.com. When I tried to select a seat on the airline website, I could not find my reservation. I tried for hours. Finally, I contacted Korean Airlines which had two legs of the trip. A very patient and helpful Korean Airlines agent finally found the problem. The agent said I would not be able to access my reservation or board the flight as my name had been inverted Last name was first, first name was last (** Keith instead of Keith **). Having had no success contacting Kayak, I called Vayama.com (only had to wait 6 minutes the first time) and told me they got my name wrong. The first thing I noticed about both agents I spoke with, is that they seemed to be angry that I called.

The first thing the first Vayama.com agent did after hearing my problem was to start arguing with me. Sometime during my explanation that if he checked my credit card receipt, he would see EXACTLY what my name was, he hung up on me. I downloaded a Skype audio recorder and called Vayama.com again. The second time I called, I waited 20 minutes before explaining my problem to the agent and being hung up on. As I was recording this call, I was on my best, most polite behavior as I plan on publishing the audio recording. I checked to make sure there was not a technical problem on my end (there was not) and wondered if the call center in India was having a technical problem.

Either way, at this point I had six hours invested in trying to get my name correct on the reservation so I could utilize the ticket I had purchased. At this stage I was very happy with myself that I had purchased trip insurance. At the same time, I wondered if the insurer was going to route my call to the same call center that had already hung up on me twice. Undaunted, I called again. This time, after waiting 30 minutes, the agent appeared to be genuinely concerned and mined down to the issue (seemed pretty simple, but okay). Asked me to email a copy of my passport and ‘they would see what they could do). Unfortunately, after nearly seven hours of trying to fix their mistake, I can conclude I will never use Kayak.com or Vayama.com again.

This app is very convenient but do not trust any features letting you select carry on and baggage number. It will show prices for tickets not including them anyway.

And nowhere during your booking process you’ll be able to see that they are or not included. I’ve booked tickets selecting 1 carry on and 1 checked baggage. And after reservation I received my travel documents and no baggage is included. Now I have to pay extra for them, and I booked a ticket a higher price than what I could have find. Upon contacting customer service they offered no help, and no reimbursement of cancellation fees, neither offering to pay for bags. I feel cheated.

On March 1st we booked a Comfort Inn & Suites in Michigan City, IN on Hotels.com via Kayak.com. I have a screenshot of the confirmed booking. When we arrived at the property we found that it was NOT, nor had ever been (according to the asst. manager on duty) a Comfort Inn. It was, in fact, not even a nationally recognized chain hotel. It was Michigan City Inn, complete with a painted out Clarion Hotel sign without lights. (I also have a photo of the sign). We did not check in, as this IS NOT at all what we paid for. We requested a refund, which was refused.

It is my contention that the Hotels.com app misrepresented the property and created a "bait and switch" advertising situation, which is illegal in the United States. We contacted Hotels.com customer service, who were unable to help due to the refusal of the property to allow a refund. We fully intend to dispute the charge with our credit card company, but I am seriously considering passing this info on to the Federal Trade Commission, as we were victims of a violation of federal a law at the hands of the Hotels.com app.

I called customer service and they said they couldn’t help and I couldn’t contact the third party. My money is now waiting to be transferred back to my card. I then called and said I was going to book this again and to tell the third party that it was indeed me making the purchase. I took a picture of my passport and then of my face, two hours later, it failed again. I called kayak and explained I wanted that specific flight and I booked it with a third credit card. I called and manually verified with them. It failed again! I then booked through United Airlines and had zero problems! Most HORRIBLE experience ever! Otel are crooks! Fraud! Not legit! Stay away! They will take your money and charge your credit card in FULL without ever booking a room with the actual hotel! I booked a hotel room with Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas for 01/23/2019 thru 01/26/2019 on the Kayak website with Otel.com. I paid for the reservation in full and received a reservation number, but when I arrived to the hotel my reservation was nowhere to be found. I contacted Otel through live chat and chatted with a representative name Burak. (I kept a record of our entire conversation.) He informed me the hotel was fully booked and apologized. I asked why I was given a reservation number and why they charged my credit card if there were no rooms available for me and he said he would try to find me another hotel.

He tried to contact Venetian, and after an hour of going back and forth he told me there were no available rooms. He then told me I have to go find my own hotel room now and they would issue me a full refund. I flew to Las Vegas under the impression that I would be staying at the Wynn as stated on my reservation. Now I’m force to find a different hotel and pay an extremely higher rate due to desperation of needing a place to stay. There were no rooms available for the Wynn when I arrived although Otel took my payment in full and provided me a reservation number prior to my arrival. I have proof of my reservation number and the conversation I had with the representative. I have everything documented in writing since my conversations with Otel has been either via email or live chat.

This is unacceptable as Otel did not take any responsibility for their misrepresentation. This was a huge inconvenience and caused extreme frustration and stress! I will contact the press so that I can inform others like me who was scammed by Otel. I reached out to Kayak via email and this was their response. “Once you leave KAYAK to book, the transaction is subject to the chosen booking provider’s stated rules, conditions and policies. If a post-booking issue does occur, you would work with their customer service team to resolve.“ Neither Otel nor Kayak is taking responsibility for the misrepresentation and inaccuracy of their booking operations. I will never use Kayak or Otel for any services again and will do everything I can to warn others.

Above the search results in the fee assistant box, I did a plus one of a carry-on and a plus one of a checked bag. When you add or remove a bag in the fee assistant you will see a pop up that says, "Prices have updated based on your selection." When I added the checked bag the fare then changed to $304, which reflects the bag fee. When you select the flight details it says "You Pay $304". When you click to purchase the deal you are then redirected to the JetBlue site and the fare is now $353 and doesn't include the $30 bag fee.

I did the chat with the Kayak help desk. I provided screen captures along with the details above and they said that the $304 is only valid when you book the flight. I explained that's what I was trying to do. I was then told that fare is no longer available and it will take approx. 2 min to update. I was receiving that fare info 20 min prior to reaching out to their support people because the redirect and higher fare didn't make sense. Yes fares change and I get that and know it well as I travel 75% yearly with my job. It has now been 30 min since my chat session and Kayak is still showing the $304 fare with a checked bag included and when that fare is selected there is still a redirect to JetBlue with a $353 fare and the checked bag is not included.

I travel internationally frequently and usually use the other TWO LARGE online travel companies. When I booked my tickets with Kayak I inputted our first, middle and last names since anyone traveling knows the names on the passport must match the airline tickets exactly... EXACTLY. I booked my tickets ex: John Jacob Smith and Jane Anne Smith. Two days later I get the confirmation as john smith and jane smith. No capitalization and no middle names. When I called they said I was past my 24 hour change period and they would have to cancel. I had no choice but to give them another $350 per ticket for cancelation, $200 tax fee and book new tickets at a higher price. So I did this knowing it would cost me $1100 more that I wouldn't get back after arguing with them and showing them on my emails that it was their mistake.

They would not take my emails as proof showing I booked the tickets correctly since they outsource their customer service to India. I got an "I don't care" attitude. I had to get the tickets so I gave them another $1100 knowing they would cancel my first tickets that they changed my names on. Well after calling for 5 weeks they finally credited my credit card. There is no one you can talk to at Kayak. It is outsourced to Airfair.com. I will never use Kayak again and am out over $1100 for a mistake that they made but would not honor. I even sent them pictures of my emails showing the names on day 1 were booked correctly only to be entered by them incorrectly with no middle names.

This site is good for finding flights, but I am utterly disappointed in the experience I had purchasing from them. Not only is it sometimes cheaper to book directly with the site, I had a bad experience when I bought tickets for a Jetstar flight. Apparently booking with KAYAK sometimes directs you to a third party website, which seemed to offer a great deal for the price of the plane ticket, little did I know that it was because they took away the luggage price that is already included in standard Jetstar flights. Knowing that the airline included the right to one piece of luggage included in the price I opted out of purchasing extra luggage for the flight.

To my considerable surprise checking in at the airport I was told that I had to pay for my luggage and I was tremendously appalled to find out that the price of my luggage was nearly twice the price of the plane ticket! (As you may know, paying for luggage at the check-in counter is more expensive than pre-booking it). Whatever little amount of money I may have saved booking with Kayak, rather than the airline directly had all gone to waste. There was 3 other people with me that day, and we ended up paying extremely more in luggage fees than the cost of our flight tickets. Around $600 dollar just for luggage. Looking back, I don’t even think that the items within my luggage amounted to the cost of the fees. I really cannot recommend booking with Kayak, nor will I ever do so again in the future.

I'm writing this review as I am quite disappointed, angry, and frustrated with my Kayak experience. I used it based on a friend's recommendation, but that friend much have traveled without luggage... On our business trip, where we had a pretty tight budget, the app didn't allow us to book any luggage with our tickets. Consequently, as the luggage wasn't purchased with the tickets, it ended up costing A LOT more when we showed up at the counter with 4 bags to be check... in some cases, 200 + Euro more... This might be frustrating for one flight, but we had 6 different jumps! That's additional baggage, EACH JUMP. Kayak automatically books you for the cheapest option, which is no luggage. Even booking luggage online before the flight is detrimental and will cost you when compared to booking luggage at time of purchase of the flight.

In addition to this, as Kayak books through other companies such as Priceline, you didn't even book with the airline! The Airline is much less inclined to help you or to sort out the mistakes made by this sub-sub service. Really, I'm starting to think Kayak was invented by the airlines to find a way to gouge more money from customers - book cheap(er) flights on Kayak, we will get you with all the extra fees. Ridiculous. I don't think I'll ever use the app again, and I definitely will preach about their awful service far and wide.

I am thoroughly disappointed with KAYAK. I recently booked a car through KAYAK for my trip to Los Angeles and clearly specified LAX Airport as my pick up/drop off location. KAYAK secured a car through Sixt Car Rental. When I arrived at LAX, I took a Sixt shuttle to the rental location 1.6 miles from LAX. When I showed my reservation to the representative, she stated that KAYAK had booked my car from a Sixt location in Venice, a 30 min car ride away. Again, I clearly indicated LAX Airport as my pick up/drop off location for this rental. I know most car rental locations at LAX are actually offsite from the Airport and you need to take a shuttle to get there. Therefore I did not think twice when the Sixt rental location that appeared on my itinerary was on 2444 Lincoln Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. I figured this location could not be more than 1 or 2 miles from LAX.

As it turned out, 2444 Lincoln Blvd is actually over 10 miles away from LAX and, per the Sixt representative I spoke to, a 30 min car ride away. How could a pickup location 1/2 hour away from LAX still be considered LAX? I had no choice but to pay an extra $82.70 for a new reservation on the spot. KAYAK failed to adhere to the pickup location of LAX Airport as specified on the reservation. I prepaid $164.36 for the reservation. I had no choice but to initiate a new car rental on the spot and pay $247.06 for the same size car. Luckily, Sixt refunded the first reservation fee of $164.36 but made it a point to tell me that they did not have to. I sent a request to KAYAK to refund me $82.70, which was the cost I incurred due to their error. KAYAK clearly erred on your duty to provide services as promised which ultimately lead to lost time and added cost for me. I have yet to hear from KAYAK.

You can't call the rental place and change it and you can't call KAYAK. You have to go thru email support. I wanted to talk live to someone so I wouldn't make a mistake twice. They said via email to rent a new one and they can cancel first one. Well, sure enough, I made a mistake on second one because I was so worried about getting time of day correct that I clicked on a different rental car company. Now I have two rentals cars and have to pay a seventy dollar fee to cancel the first one. All this took place in about an hour. Kayak has not responded back to me to cancel the first one despite about 4 emails asking them to. Nobody to talk to. I'm going to try disputing it with Visa.

After providing all requested passenger info AND credit card payment, Delta flashed a message: original quoted price no longer available. New price quoted on screen was an increase of $300. Did I want to continue with purchase? In an effort to get the originally quoted fare, I used a different computer and searched directly on the Delta website for exact same flight. Entered passenger information and credit card payment. Lo and behold, Delta flashed the same message: "original quoted price no longer available". To be clear, this happened on Delta's very own website! This is called bait and switch and should be illegal. Delta is committing fraud. I am warning friends and family about Delta and encourage Kayak to not do business with a company that commits fraud.

In addition to that issue the reason I want to cancel the car insurance is because Economy car rental tried to charge me ADDITIONAL when I arrived to pick up my rental!!! I left the car rental agency and went directly to a different agency where I rented a vehicle in person! This is not good customer service. Hidden fees? Can't cancel? I used American Express and the issuer (Bank of America) felt there was something irregular and declined the charge. Hours later I get an email from a "Priyanka Narayana Swamy" asking me to resubmit my credit card as it had been declined. Upon calling American Express the fraud department agreed with me about lack of transparency about this retailer and Travix. The phone number provided to resubmit the charges was: +1.650.206.5545. A recording tells the unhappy caller to leave a message and that it will be answered in 24 or 48 hours.

I was already taken for a 800 US scam by Bravofly and I learned my lesson before forking over my money. Eventually I recovered my money after a few weeks. American Express refunded the entire amount scammed by Bravofly. These retailers use third parties and have no physical offices and much less a 1 800 number to provide customer service. Never again will I try to book an inexpensive airline ticket if the retailer does not provide a customer service number which I will first call first to make the reservation. Kayak, Vayama and Bravofly are not in the business of providing a service with transparency. Caveat Emptor BUYER BEWARE!

Plus, one of those websites Kayak directs you to keeps raising their rates every time you click away from their page to compare, and going back to it even if it's a time difference of 10 seconds or less! Remember those great commercials that Kayak had a couple of years ago? That is where they spent their money, not on actually providing great service. I spent the better part of 3 or 4 hours trying to book a flight with them over a period of three days. The flights that were available did come up well enough, but I later discovered that I could get flights cheaper through other services like Expedia. Money transfers were a problem, and even though I filled out all their information as I commonly do when making an internet purchase, the payment was declined multiple times. I tried different cards, I phoned my card service provider to make sure money was available, and that it didn't get blocked due to some quirky issue, but to no avail.

What did happen, though, was somehow my card got charged $77 - which is weird given the fact that I was trying to pay something over $1200. I got an email telling me that my card was declined and to click "here" to revisit the opportunity to pay. Never worked and just ended up allowing me to go in circles again in another vain attempt to solidify dates. Talked to people at Kayak help centers with little success. Nice enough people, but useless in terms of helping me attain the goal I was trying to achieve. Main offices were all closed. Sent an email but never got a reply. Decided finally that I had given them enough chances and it was time to cut my losses.

Went on to Expedia, found the same flights but at a cheaper price (go figure!). That surprised me. Then I paid with my credit card and expected the same problems. However it worked right away, first time, with no headaches, annoying emails, or need to get help from an agent. Who knew booking a flight could be so easy - but not with Kayak. Bottom line - don't even bother going onto the Kayak website. Try a different method of booking and chances are you will get your booking done faster, cheaper, and with less issues. Really.

My call was escalated to a supervisor Esther, who ended up being a VP of marketing (VP for very pathetic) who gave me a whole line of Kayak sanctioned garbage.

I tried to explain my side and she kept talking over me and not letting me speak and I started to scream at her "Let me speak!" and she told me she didn't have to listen to me and disconnected the call. I called back and spoke to her and explained that Kayak in fact directed me to the airline because I never received any confirmations from Kayak or the airline. She told me there was no way Kayak told me who the airline was and it must have been someone "posing" as a Kayak representative! Hilarious!!! Esther turned out to be OK once she actually tried listening instead of railroading the conversation but Kayak is very vague about who really books the trip. My recommendation is dump this trashy company and go with a transparent, easy to deal with company who can assist and be held to some level of accountability for their transactions.

Back in November of 2015, I booked a flight from NYC to London to visit some friends I hadn't seen in a few years. This was going to be my first time flying to Europe and unfortunately I was not able to go on the trip. My first complain about Kayak is that, Kayak itself, does not send you a confirmation email. They booked my flight with justfly.com and I had no idea it had happened. It takes them days to process the payment so you are not even sure the purchase was made. I had to call the justfly.com customer service to ask if payment was received and if they could send me a receipt. Payment was made, no receipt was sent and it took me almost an hour and a half to talk to someone.

My second and biggest complain is that their customer service is beyond horrible. I've traveled a fair share between my home country and the US for 7 years now and completely understand the rules of travel sites and airlines but this one was incredibly insane. I was not able to go on my trip because my mother got extremely sick a few days before. So sick to the point that I had to move back to my home country not knowing how long she was going to live.

I called Kayak to let ask if there was any way I could get a refund or partial refund for my ticket since I don't have a lot of money and shipping internationally is not cheap at all. They refused to do anything about it so I had to stay longer in the US to sell some of my belongings and gather some money. My mother passed away before I could make it home. I lost my job, half of my belongings and I was out almost $800 that could have been for a plane ticket home and shipping at least some of the stuff I had from the life I had made the past 7 years.

I clearly understand policies and everything. It's not like I want to rip them off or anything. I've always respected all the rules they have and totally take responsibility if I miss a flight or something like that, but I think this was quite the special and extraordinary circumstance. I was on the phone for 3 hours and it was my first time using Kayak. Safe to say I haven't used it again nor will I do it in the future.

KAYAK is CLUELESS. They are simply a warehouse. They make money by advertising other companies, and by collecting fees for the referral to those companies. On Kayak's website, I specifically chose British Airways for an upcoming trip to Europe, having had a good experience flying with them previously. I was willing to pay more than I would have on several other lower rated airlines. I received an email from KAYAK.com thanking me for my purchase of flights with British Airways, and stating Airfare.com would send confirmation. The next day I received an email from AIRFARE.com confirming my flights, but telling me I would be flying on American Airlines.

As American Airlines is in bankruptcy, and consistently rated very poorly on customer service, this was NOT acceptable to me. And as KAYAK had posted in bold letters on the flight listing FREE CANCELLATIONS, I called Airfare.com, and was told it would cost me $950 to cancel. They said I only had 2 hours after booking to get a free cancellation. This is absurd. I bought tickets on British Airways, but they switched me to American Airlines? And now I can't cancel this gross misrepresentation without paying $950.00. To further illustrate the point: After canceling my flight and being reamed for $950, a few days KAYAK sends me an email asking, "How was your flight?" As I said, CLUELESS!!!

Ok so bottom line is the actual price for my car rent booking was different from the price I booked through Kayak. I received confirmation mail with price on it, and there was a note that additional charge may apply for required insurance, optional items, or additional drivers. However it was none of them made my actual rate go higher, it was basic daily car rate itself.

So I asked the company through website about this, and got reply saying I should deal with car rent company. I was surprised as I made my booking at Kayak.com and I got confirm mail from Kayak, not the car rental company. After I sent reply that I cannot understand their policy, another mail came from Kayak. It was Vice President of Kayak. Bottom line of her mail was "We are just tool for booking and you should deal with the car rental company directly. You can book through Kayak, it's your choice, but related to the booking, (including prices) you should deal with the car rent company directly". So she is saying Kayak is only providing price information, whether you book through Kayak or not, they have no responsibility for the actual booking. Just like me, even if actual price is much higher than confirmed prices, they have no responsibility to handle that, and we have to figure out how to make things right when we arrive at rental spot or hotel maybe.

Kayak's response was a lot different from what I felt/thought from their TV commercial. So finally I Googled their CEO's email address and send them the whole conversation and asked him why this happened. Below was CEO of Kayak's comment on misleaded booking price. "After reviewing it, I am quite confident that Kayak has handled this issue appropriately". Maybe I misunderstood Kayak business or maybe I misunderstood their TV commercial. So bottom line is even if you book through Kayak, actual prices may different (not the tax, not the insurance, basic rate/price itself), and if that happens you have deal with the car rental company/hotel or whatever. Kayak doesn't care. Maybe this is unusual issue, but it happened to me, and none of them gave me the answer about the price difference of my booking. Even CEO.

I tried several times to book it but at the final payment step, it would not complete the transaction. I was given a number to call to "redirect me to Delta." The representative told me that the transaction could not be completed because the fare was no longer available and it was a matter of not being able to keep up with the changing fares on Kayak's website. This sounded a little odd to me, but the rep found the same flights we wanted and the fare was about 10% higher.

What the rep did not disclose is that Kayak had routed me to Dreams Travel Tours, Inc. in NY, NOT Delta. When my AMEX statement arrived, there was a "travel agency fee" of $150. I called Delta and they verified it was not a charge of theirs but of a travel agency. Kayak never disclosed they routed me to a travel agency or that there would be a fee involved. That's just not right. The travel agency, Dreams Travel Tours, Inc. clearly wanted me to believe I was dealing with Delta and did not disclose they were not Delta and that there would be $150 fee for the transaction. I have disputed the charge.

They did, but after you agree to a price and provide your credit card, it does not guarantee your rate (which isn't shady at all). Isn't a purchase suppose to guarantee your rate? If I order a burger from McDonald's for four dollars, then a barely understandable employee that just received a novocaine injection delivers a higher rate, Ronald McDonald is getting an earful.

I think it is ridiculous to require full payment up front and you can't cancel your reservation. I received an offer for the room rate to be less, so I gave Kayak an opportunity to match it. Because I "missed" the cancellation window of one-week prior, they not only won't honor the price reduction, they said I would forfeit the entire pre-paid amount if I wanted to make changes. Reading the reviews here it appears to be a pattern with Kayak. They quote a rate, you enter your credit card information and the screen message indicates a problem - giving you a number to call - the operator says that the rate advertised is no longer available and the operator offers you a new rate which is double of your previous rate quoted. I will avoid them and recommend that anyone wanting to deal with an honest straight forward travel company does the same!

After 2 weeks the airline support calls and your ticket will be canceled if you don't verify your payment as the agent made payment by his others fake credit card. Even Qatar airways has response where they do verification after giving an e-ticket. Be cautious with online transfers made. His name is Sanjay.

I got on Kayak's website to book a hotel in San Diego. The hotel I chose was, indeed, less expensive through Kayak so I clicked the "Book" button. At first it said something went wrong and instructed me to call the hotel. Instead, I tried again and this time it worked. There was a large timer in the corner counting down my time in which I had to get all my trip and billing information in. Since I was staying multiple nights and I know there are fees and taxes included, I didn't think anything about the price at the time.

After I finished the transaction, my son said, "Wow! That is an expensive hotel!" I looked at the nightly rate BEFORE taxes and fees and they had switched the price to a higher price after I clicked "Book" and left Kayak and was sent to the Amoma site based in Romania. It was higher than Hotwire would have been according to the Kayak site! I called Kayak and they took no responsibility for anything and they gave me an international phone number to call Amoma. I was not going to incur international charges to try to fight for a few dollars. I should have gone with Hotwire. I will never use Kayak again.

There have been 2 times in the past 6 months I've booked a flight home with Kayak for a holiday. Each time, after receiving the receipts, the dates are incorrect. There's nothing I can negotiate with an airline to alleviate this and it ends up costing me hundreds of dollars each time I use it. I will not be using Kayak again. It's reprehensible to alter customers dates when they're trying to book a trip. No one looking to fly home for a holiday would rather miss that holiday for a cheaper flight two months later.

I received NO confirmation email, and I also included my friend's email address for the second room I reserved and she received NO email confirmation either. My friends were unable to go to Seattle, so I tried calling the hotel to cancel. They were unable to confirm a reservation OR cancel because I made this via a third party site. I also contacted Kayak through email and they confirmed that I had no reservation with them for those dates as I wanted to cancel.

I called Amex anyways to let them know that I received no confirmation email from the site or the hotel (I had no # to confirm as I did not receive any emails) and to give them a heads up regarding the situation in case the company decided to charge me the hotel fee. I was charged $444 today for a no-show fee. I had to pay for both rooms for the first night's stay at a rate that wasn't what I booked on Kayak. First of all, I received no confirmation email. Second, I contacted the company and confirmed they received NO reservation. Third, I will NEVER book through this site again. Poor business practices for their customers.

I went online to read reviews of various booking companies and the BBB gave Kayak an A+ and AirFare.com a B+. Well I booked my flight three days ago and received no customer service when I could not get into my booking online. Kayak consistently redirected me to AirFare.com whose personnel barely spoke English and when it was within 24 hours of the flight, I was put in contact with a Russian-accented jerk who told me that I was out of luck and to talk to the airline. Consistently the answer was "talk to the airline".

I arrived at the airline counter three hours early and it took 35 minutes to resolve. The issue? AirFare.com OR Kayak misspelled my first name and thus the problem. The airline resolved the issue and smoothed things out for me. (Hurray US Airways.) I tried to call AirFare.com back but they still were in the talk at me mode and not listening to my efforts to state that the airline resolved it. I will never ever use Kayak OR AirFare.com again. I will tell my friends, family, coworkers and acquaintances of their folly. Sincerely and completely unsatisfied.

Hi, my name is Ivo and I live in Boulder, CO. My cell number is **. I wanted to report a pretty massive scam with airline tickets. Here is my story - My friends and I are taking a vacation on Thanksgiving and on September 19th we all searched Kayak.com for a good rate from Denver to Cancun flight. We purchased our tickets at an advertised rate of $581. The way this works is - Kayak normally send you to a website where you’d complete your transaction and in this case the site was eDreams.com. Upon completing our transactions we all got confirmation emails from eDreams that listed out and confirmed our charges - $571 for the flight + a $10 booking fee. A total of $581.

Within minutes all of our credit cards got charged $771. The actual charge was made by Frontier Airlines. That same day our customer support saga began. We spent hours convincing Frontier Airlines that we were mischarged. Frontier was incapable of doing anything about this. They didn’t even know how these tickets were sold through their own channels. Like they actually don’t know how they sell their tickets. It’s hard to believe but ok. They told us there is nothing they can do and we need to contact eDreams where we actually booked the flight.

We then spent almost a full week going back and forth with eDreams from multiple conversations, talking to managers, etc. We submitted our BANK STATEMENTS in order to prove that we were overcharged. We were then told by eDreams that our refund has been issued and we will get the difference in rate back. Great!

No Refund. No Responsibility. No Solution. Fast forward to today. I just called eDreams to check on my refund. I was told there is NO such thing as refund from them. They don’t do refunds and we need to take it up with Frontier. Spoke to the highest possible manager and they pretty much told me to piss off. Tried calling Kayak.com - they are NOT responsible for this. Frontier is clueless. So there you have it the most popular flight search engine Kayak.com and one of the biggest airlines Frontier along with a booking agency eDreams all scamming clients, and all claiming that they are not responsible for the scam.

This is one of those time where I have tried everything and we are at a complete DEAD END. None of the parties are offering ANY solutions. They are all playing dumb and blaming each other and pretty much blowing me and my group of friends off. Why reporting this? The main reason I am contacting you is because this is not a temporary one time glitch. TODAY you can still go and buy a ticket from Kayak.com with falsely advertised rates, get a confirmation about your charge, get an confirmation with the agreed upon rate, only to find out on your bank statement, you are charged 30% more for the flight.

I was hoping you can help by reporting this scam, which could be affecting many passengers that won’t notice till later that they have been scammed! You can test this. 1. Go to Kayak.com and search for the same flight I was scammed with. Denver to Cancun, Departure Nov 21, Return November 29. Select the highlighted Frontier flight. 2. You will be re-directed to eDreams where you can complete your transaction. Purchase the ticket from eDreams. 3. You will get an email confirmation with your transaction details on the agreed upon rate. 4. Check your bank statement. Surprise!! You’ve been scammed.:) Please, feel free to contact me with any questions!

We would do what they said then call them back and the next person who answered the phone would have different instructions. No one who answered the phone knew the procedures. We got a complete run around every time we called. It was ridiculous. Next time we will make flight reservations through the airlines directly even if we have to pay a little more. Let's start with Kayak, why do I pay you the fee to book my reservations for me in you aren't even going to do it? I mean, I feel I'm a mostly reasonable person, so when I go through your company to book a reservation, arrive at my destination fresh off a plane, all I want is to be able to go to the hotel I booked and relax, before I have the things that provide the basis of the trip to take care of.

So imagine how I felt, shocked, angry, betrayed almost, when I arrived at my hotel to find that kayak had not even booked my room and that on arrival the hotel was booked solid. My favorite part though? When I called Kayak to discuss it with them, they were quick to dismiss blame and offer me recompense. But unfortunately when you're visiting another city, and rode in a plane to do so, Financial recompense is hardly what you're looking for. Although obviously necessary, I needed a hotel and they were of no assistance in my current situation. Long story short, I ended up calling around for an hour sitting in the streets with all my bags to find a hotel with some availability.

My dear friends at Kayak, it's really a shame you choose Vayama as your partner. I've been your loyal customer for the last five years. Every time I need to book a trip, by default I just go to Kayak and always I can get the good price and good service. Because of all these pleasant experience, I never doubt or double check where Kayak routes my request to (as I always believe I am in your good hands), until you routed my request to Vayama.

The booking process is just fine, Vayama sent me the confirmed trip ID within 30 minutes. The nightmare started when I tried to cancel/change my travel schedule. The past Sunday my Mom was diagnosed with rectal cancer in Shanghai, so I need to rush back to China ASAP. I called Vayama on Monday to explain my situation and made an urgent request to cancel my wife and my daughter's flight and change my outbound flight to this May 8th. The customer support at Vayama told me they would send me the response within 24 hours. Although not satisfied with the answer I decided to wait one day.

Two days past and I didn't receive anything from them, so I called Vayama Wednesday morning, explained my situation to the customer support again, and was told Vayama would look into it and gave me the answer end of business day Wednesday, yet again, no phone call or email from these guys. So at end of day I had to call them and explain to them third time. Same answer and was told I had to wait. Called again Wednesday late night and got the same heartless answer I had to wait.

It's Thursday morning and I realized I am screwed, but I can't blame Vayama, they are heartless evil ** (if you just spend 5 min to search the online Vayama negative review, you can get tons of them). How can I blame the evil, they won't care, but I blame you. I've been treat you as my travel planning friend, but you abused my trust and routed my request to this evil web site. My experience getting routed to airfare.com for a ticket from SF to Asia was the worse experience ever. Three months after the online purchase was made, I am still disputing my credit card bill nor have been able to get credit back for plane tickets that were charged for flights that were supposedly cancelled and payments refunded.

Airfare.com sent email communication that they would cancel my reservation and refund tickets but did not probably communicate it to Cathay Pacific. The result is that Cathay Pacific still went ahead with the charges and now I have to run after CP for refund. My bank also has to run after CP for refund. Somehow that leaves airfare.com off the hook. The worse part is when I tried to get in touch with kayak.com customer service. They washed their hands off and said it was not their issue to deal with.

I will not recommend to kayak.com to anyone. Do not make the same mistake I made. Read the reviews and number of customer complaints out there. Airfare.com is one big scam as well. Read the reviews and spread the word to put these companies out of business for bad business practice and taking advantage of people.

We missed our flight, and having purchased insurance I called to reschedule our ticket, I was on hold for hours. No one at Kayak would talk to me and the representatives at Airfare.com sounded as if they were on a cell phone and kept hanging up on me when I explained our situation. We simply wanted to reschedule our flight! We ended up having to purchase new one way tickets to Bali costing us a fortune.

I wanted to pursue this further when we returned home, but we wanted to enjoy our honeymoon first. On the day before our return flight Kayak.com sent me an email to check in, when I went to check in I came to realize Airfare.com CANCELED our flights! No email, no warning, no reason! They knew we missed our first flight and hung up on us. We were so desperate at this point calling Airfare.com. Again they kept hanging up on me, we had to book entirely new flights through the airline Cathay Pacific. I am absolutely disgusted Kayak would team up with such an unrepeatable company and on top of it not even know my flights were cancelled and sent me an email to check in. I have been trying to reach a representative from either company all day and I can't reach anyone. I will NEVER book anything through Kayak.com again and I will continue to write negative reviews through the web at any portal I can find until I hear back from someone regarding this matter.

I have booked with Kayak for years and always thought they were a fine site with a good product. Then they teamed up with Airfare.com and now, when you think you are buying through kayak, you are in fact buying through a different site that will make your life a living hell if you need to change your ticket. After hours of frustrating phone calls, speaking to people with the IQ of a goat, it is clear that Airfare.com charge you more than the airline would to change your ticket and don't credit you if the new ticket costs less than the one you originally bought. It is disgraceful that Kayak should misleading customers in this way. Do not buy through Kayak. Go to the airline direct.

Me and my girlfriend had been anticipating our trip all year, we decided to use Kayak which directed us to use Vayama to find an inexpensive flight to Cancun, Mexico from Los Angeles. This was my first time flying to another country so I was not sure what to expect. We arrived at LAX 2 hours in advance, our flight was at 12:50 am according to Kayaks trip schedule for us, when we get there it is around 11pm, we check in to get our tickets and what do you know... the flight is leaving at 11:50pm and not 12:50... Thankfully there was not a big line at customs so we barely made our flight. Our flight was landing in Mexico City to connect to another flight to Cancun, the flight landed and we were off the plane at 6:55 am, our connecting flight was at 8:00am (according to kayak) so of course we were trying our best to get to our connecting flight on time. The line to get through customs took at least a half hour, by the time we reach our the flight gate it is 7:57pm and what do you know... they already boarded and what do you know... our tickets say 7:55 not 8:00 am. There goes our plans of arriving early and enjoying a full day in the sun.. so now we are stuck in Mexico City feeling helpless.. (TERRIBLE WAY TO START A VACATION)

We talk to a front desk assistant for AeroMexico and they tell us they can usually change the flight to another flight but because we booked through an agency we had to talk to our agency... (WELL THATS JUST GREAT!!!) We call the agency after buying a calling card for the payphones..They tell us that all they can do is contact AeroMexico and request a flight change which they quoted will take 1 hour to 24 hours to process... So now we are stuck in Mexico City with no other options but to wait... 24 hours. We asked Kayak what are we supposed to do for 24 hours and asked them if they will provide us with a hotel to stay in... They told us that they will not provide us anything at all and that we just had to wait at the airport and that basically we were on our own.

We get frustrated and decide to call our travel insurance company to tell them the situation.. the insurance and Kayak/Vayama tells us that we only need a minimum of 45 minutes to get to an international connecting flight.. which is complete ** because AeroMexico told us a minimum of 3 hours, anyways we tell them the situation and they tell us that we have to file a claim which can take up to 90 days to process, and that we did not choose the insurance for missed flights.. which there was literally only one option for an insurance policy so I had no idea what they were talking about.

After getting frustrated with them we come to the conclusion that we are truly on our own in this situation. We ended up booking a flight at 1:25pm through a completely different airline, and arrived at our destination. They are still refusing to refund our money saying that they will not refund it because we booked through another airline on our own. And the Insurance company sent us our insurance claim forms but with no way of turning the forms in. We literally feel like they stole our money. Very much considering getting a lawyer because this just does not sound legal. Also I must add that they never contacted us about the rescheduled flight through AeroMexico so if we did wait for them to come through for us.. they would have never came through.

I didn't realize that when I made the booking it was booked through airfare.com. This is not just an annoyance issue but I think it could be considered fraud. I really hope that the government intervenes on companies operating like this. Long story short, after hours of phone calls over days I found out that Airfare.com's practices made me lose my ticket. Even though I followed all their policies to change the ticket in advance. In the end, the only other option was to pay fees that would cost more than buying a new ticket. Shame on you for treating people this way. Shame on KAYAK for misleading customers and subjecting to this type of experience.

The problem is the refund never showed up. The email instructed me to contact Get-A-Room.com which handled the reservation. Get-A-Room now tells me they have issued the credit after contacting them three times, but it could take two (2) billing cycles to hit my bank. I called Kayak customer service to complain and the rep looked up the reservation and said that was close!! As if to imply that somehow I could have avoided this by not canceling so close to the deadline even though it met the criteria for a full refund. Unbelievable! She informed me that Kayak is a meta-search company and does not take responsibility for what their partners do. Buyer beware :))

Tip for consumers: Be careful when canceling reservations. While you may meet the criteria for a full refund, if it doesn't come, Kayak will inform you that they take no responsibility and that it is between you and the reservation company that your room was booked through. Sad but true :(

Don't ever book tickets from Kayak.com directly. The reservation is fulfilled by Airfare.com which has the worst customer service ever. I booked a round trip ticket to India and I wanted to change the date for the return travel. First of all you can't do that online. Second, there is a huge change fee of $350 (my mistake I didn't check that while booking as I didn't expect to change the ticket). And third, there is a big process for changing. Step 1)You need to call the customer service (rude customer representatives). Step 2) They will send you a change request form through e-mail. Step 3) You send the form back with you dates. Step 4) They send an other e-mail with the prices (in the middle of the night and ask you to send a confirmation within 2 hrs or they would cancel the request). 5) You then send your confirmation.

I followed the steps for a first set of dates for which I didn't like the price (also I couldn't get to it on time as I missed the 2 hr window). I requested a second set of dates. I got an e-mail from them saying that they received the request and they will work on within 24-48 hrs. I didn't hear anything from them (I was in hurry as the dates were approaching) so, I called on day 4 and they said they will send something within hours. Didn't hear anything and called again after 2 days, which happens to be a Saturday and they say they can't work on it until Monday. It is such a pain do go through all this process (would've saved so much time if there was something online). I made an initial reservation for a hotel in Schaumburg IL. I realized that I had made the reservation for 1 night instead of the 2 nights required. I called the number Kayak provided to change my reservation. This number leads you to a pretty massive call center. I worked with the reservations department to change my reservation. They added a night to what I thought was my existing reservation. It turns out that they added a night as a new reservations under HotelSavings.com - which is somehow affiliated under that same call center. Unfortunately, my reservation was Kayak -Travelocity, so now there were two reservation - but 1 that was totally hidden from me! I did not have a separate confirmation number for it, no email, no anything. I thought everything was done under my Kayak reservation!!

I checked my reservation before I left (using my confirmation number) and it still showed one night instead of the 2 nights that I thought I had changed my reservation to. I called back and they fixed my reservation - this time doing it by cancelling the current reservation and providing a new reservation for 2 nights - and I received a cancellation and a new reservation. They did not find the second reservation that they had made under HotelSavings.com and of course I did not know that they had made that second reservation, so I thought all was well at that point.

I arrived in IL, checked in and they told me that I had two reservations - which was a surprise! I told them that no, I only had one. That second reservation under HotelSavings.com was still there and had not been canceled. I am trying to get Kayak to see their issue and to have them credit me for that 2nd reservation under HotelSavings.com but I am in a horrible circle with them. I will NEVER use Kayak again! I suspect that I am going to be stuck with the $138 second reservation they made incorrectly as well as the $50 no show fee that I was charged!! I had already called my bank and they told me it was a problem with Emirates. Therefore I tried to go through Kayak. However they never sent me an email confirmation 2 hours later. They only just sent me a confirmation yesterday, on Monday. I had assumed it never went through because of the original issue with Emirates. Therefore I went through another company, Air India.

When I saw Emirates/Airfare drafted money from my account I was furious. I called and attempted to remain calm until I got on the phone with a manager. He then accused me of not checking my emails, that I did indeed receive a confirmation, and that it was all my fault. I thought by talking to a manager I would receive better customer service, but he just started getting attitude with me and accusing me of not following up with them. Also all of the representatives are outsourced and have difficulty understanding when I spell my name. I would have to repeat myself multiple times.

I then called back and attempted to talk to an American. The man said, "What is wrong with my English?" I said nothing. I would just prefer to talk to an American because customer service is typically better (however I did not tell him this). He then proceed to tell me that he was sorry I was having a bad day and that it wasn't his fault, and then hung up on me! I have never in my life had a customer service representative hang up on me! Kayak is very good when they stick to their knitting; that is, sourcing cheap prices for flights and presenting that information in a concise and easily interpreted manner. But please, do not ever book a hotel through Kayak. I have had two very poor experiences and have had to deal with a parade of polite but useless customer service agents that certainly were not US-based in order to merely discuss the problems, let alone achieve solutions.

First, I booked a stay in Feb. 2013 at an excellent hotel in Fort Lauderdale, one morning for check in later that day. I arrived about 12 hours later to check in and the manager informed me that she did not have any reservation. Apparently Kayak's agents faxed confirmation to the hotel. These faxes often go awry. Kayak was of no assistance; however, the hotel manager was excellent and bent over backwards to solve the problem caused by Kayak's byzantine reservation system.

Second, I booked a hotel for four nights in the Dominican Republic. I prepaid with my credit card, which has my first initial and middle name on it. The reservation was in my first Name. Although my credit card was charged, the mysterious "RPD" (later determined to be the odiously named "Revenue Protection Department") cancelled my reservation because of the discrepancy in the name. Whether or not this was appropriate, or an officious and unthinking approach by a tick the box functionary toiling in a cubicle deep in the interior of whatever company (Travelocity?) is supposed to be ensuring I have a hotel room when I arrive, I will not opine on it. However, what I will opine on is the disgraceful and roundabout customer service I received, having to remain on hold to the "Travelocity for Kayak" service center, followed by the cancellation center followed by the aforementioned and certainly odious RPD. Not one person offered to help restore the reservation. All I was told was "We tried to call you and you did not answer so we cancelled your reservation." Gee thanks guys.

I called the approach "stupid" and was told not to swear by the foreigner on the other end of the phone. No F bombs were dropped. Yes, ** might be considered a bad word for a four-year old, but I think it is quite appropriate after twenty minutes on hold or talking to various clueless and unhelpful agents to resolve a simple problem. So Kayak should return to knitting us lovely cheap flight information sweaters and get the heck out of where it does not belong. Kayak certainly does not belong in the hotel reservation business. And based on these two recent experiences, neither does Travelocity.

About a month ago, we booked a hotel room at the Hilton Garden Hotel in Bakersfield, CA for November 11, 2012 that we thought was booking with Kayak. During our trip, our plans changed and we tried to cancel that room over 48 hours before check in. We found out that Kayak had sublet out reservation with Travelocity. This was after looking all over the Kayak reservation and web site for a phone number of a real human, there was none. The hotel informed us that our booking was through Travelocity, Kayak had nothing to do with it other than taking our money. In a web search of a blog, we found a number for a real human at Travelocity who would not refund us our money, even over 48 hours in advance. They were of no help.

So on checking the Hilton web site, we found out that we could have booked the same room, for this date for $5 per day less than Kayak and their cancellation policy was no charge until 6 pm on our arrival day. I informed Travelocity of that and they had no apologies and said they have our money. Then they don't pay the hotel until after we check out, so they also have the float on our money.

My experience now is to never use either Kayak or Travelocity or any other third party travel companies. They add no value and actually cost you more money. It is impossible to contact a real human to talk to when you have a problem and they screw you. These scam companies take your money immediately when you book and don't pay the provider until after you check out or complete your flights.

I was planning a trip and used Kayak to research hotels. The cheapest hotel that had a decent star rating was listed as “unavailable” in my search results for the night that I wanted to stay there. I'm a skeptical person and decided that I'd book a room in person when I flew out to coast. Not only was there a room available when I walked into the hotel, but it was a cheaper price than what Kayak had shown me 4 weeks earlier! I may still use this site to know what options I have, but I will never book anything through this site.

I wanted to book a flight from Larnaca to Birmingham, UK on 3 October 2012. They were advertised on 1st and 2nd of October at £67pp. When trying to book, we were redirected to Monarch who then tried to charge well over £500pp. Kayak should not be advertising misleading prices. We have used Kayak before with no problems at all, but this is totally wrong.

No tax info on a hotel booking website - I've been trying to book a room at a resort in Hurghada, Egypt and I happen to know that the taxes and service charges are 23.5% of the room price. Per the website, none of these fees or taxes are listed or quoted. Is this legal for them to misrepresent the total price of the room? Thanks for your help!

I used Kayak.com's iPhone app to search and book four one-way tickets from Orlando, FL to Minneapolis, MN for April 8th 2012.

I entered our information and our credit card and Kayak said that the flight was booked. I got a confirmation email from Kayak and from the airline, Frontier Airlines. I noticed immediately that the tickets were booked at a wrong date; they were confirmed for April 10th 2012. I emailed Kayak and they said that on the first submission, the travel date was April 8th and after they notified me that the fare had increased, the second submission was for April 10th travel, which is completely untrue; I was not notified during or after booking that the date would be changed and that they also said to contact Frontier directly.

I called the airline and spoke with a manager. They will not cancel my tickets, even within an hour of booking them, and that they would be glad to switch me to the 8th for $60 more per ticket!

Neither Kayak nor Frontier will take the blame and I have the wrong tickets. I now have to file a dispute with my credit card.

I used Kayak Explorer to find a ticket. I found a great deal from Boston to San Diego. A link directed me to Cheap Tickets where there were about seven choices in the same low price range. I booked my ticket and received a confirmation from Cheap Tickets with flight locator number. My credit card was charged. I booked a hotel room and then hours later got an email to say the flight was not available. The flights were available; they were just not willing to give it to me for the price that Kayak and Cheap Tickets advertised. I don't understand how major airlines works together with a company that offers a bogus fare and charges a person's credit card.

On Thursday July 9th at approximately 6:00pm i decided to check weekend flights to attend a wedding reception in my home town Racine, WI. I entered the dates of July 10 to leave and a return date of July 12th. A fair of $193.00 came up on Air Tran and i booked it. I have 2 computers in my office and mine does not have a printer so i just copied the dates and times directly to my agenda. I know it is shocking but yes i still use an agenda instead of a blackberry. I was so excited to go home and when i arrived at the La Guardia airport at 12:00 for a 1:20 flight , the airtran lady told me that my flight was actually booked for July 31st returning on August 2nd. I was so upset and what upset me even more was that the lady told me that i was the 3rd person to have shown up thinking that i was flying out and the dates were different and all had used a 3rd party to buy the tickets. I first was told that i had to pay a 75.00 fee to change it but then the managere said that i actually had to buy a new ticket for $275.00 each way in order to fly. Needless to say i was semi-nuts but i just figured that i would be able to take care of this with kayak somehow. While at the airport, i spent almost one full hour trying to call the numbers to speak to anyone. The Air Tran lady gave me the numbers since the person before me had gone through the same thing. No one ever answered and i left messages with the CEO, the CFO, the director of marketing, the director of PR. I also called the CT offices to never have heard back from anyone. I called my asst at my office and told her to write a complaint via e-mail to Kayak and she did and they wrote back and said that this is an Air Tran problem and not theirs and Air Tran says it is Kayak's problem. All i know is that it is impossible for me to have inserted teh dates of July 31st and August 2nd. If i had typed in by accident the 13th a day after or a day before i might take responsibility but this is impossible. The morning i left for the airport my asst printed the confirmation for me and put it in my bag. I did not even look at it since i had already written the dates on my agenda with the flight number etc. When i finally looked at it, it did say july 31 and August 2nd. I do not know what to do. I have stopped payments for all the flights and will pay for the $193.00 flight but i have no intention of paying $550.00 for the flights i had to buy at the airport. Before boarding the plane a man overheard me telling my asst that i must be the only person paying so much money when the airlines are offering such discounts and he took my ticket and gave me a 100.00 coupon towards my next flight. I asked him if he could accept the original ticket as it was and he said he said that he could not do anything after the transactions had been completed at check in which also makes me wonder if it was really ne cessary to buy 2 new tickets. I would appreciate any help or information you could give me for this matter.
