Checked this motel's website before making reservation. Website said and the pictures showed. 1) A working hot tub 2) Free Coffee 3) Breakfast 4) A welcoming lobby area. When we got there, none of the above was available. Hot tub covered over. NO COFFEE anywhere! None in room! None in lobby! NO BREAKFAST! None, not even a breakfast area! Lobby wasn't even close to the pictures on website. Check in was ridiculous! No human being anywhere!!! A kiosk in corner with a tv type screen and someone who did not speak good english signing us in. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE ANYWHERE!

Next our room... Went to closet to hang up clothes, NO HANGERS and no customer service people to complain to. TV remote worked SOMETIMES! When it did work, very limited channels. NO LOCALS! Shower curtain was dirty, grimy and slimy! This was undoubtedly, the very worst motel visit I have EVER had. This is outright consumer fraud and these people should be forced to correct their website and removed from the Choice Hotels listings.

Stayed at the Econolodge in Monticello Florida off Route 10. Arrived around 8pm. Too tired to keep driving. Room was filthy, carpet stained, room stunk, skid marks in toilet, hadn't been cleaned forever. We had to stay, exhausted, slept barely with lights on. They had no coffee in the morning, they were out of filters, and we wouldn't eat any of their meager breakfast, didn't want to eat bugs. DON'T STAY THERE!!

My husband and I stayed in a Choice Hotel Quality Inn in Kingsland Georgia. The room was disgustingly dirty, smelled of wet dog, multiple fleas and cockroaches. We complained to the front desk and they gave us the manager's phone number who never returned our call. After returning home we contacted Choice and they offered us a $60 refund. After several phone calls we still have not received our refund because they keep saying they can’t mail it to Canada??? Our bank feels they have all the information to wire transfer the money yet they still can’t seem to send it. Also this room was a public health risk and I asked for a confirmation in writing that they were dealing with expectations to clean this hotel up and they just gave the same run around that they couldn’t give me any confirmation. The reviews of this hotel online confirm the same situation we had. Very poor customer service.

On March 3d, 2023 I was traveling on US95 N from Florida to New Jersey. Made reservation in Econo Lodge on Cedar Creek Rd in Fayetteville NC few days ahead of time. Upon arrival, I was informed the handicap room is not available due to plumbing problem. I was also informed that only one room left on the first floor. Due to physical problems, I can only stay on the first floor.

Room was so disgusting when I open the door, I closed it immediately. The order from chemical spray was unbearable! Other hotels in Fayetteville didn't not have rooms on the first floor and some charged triple because of tournament that was going on that weekend. I continue driving on US95N and stopped in Selma NC on 1780 Industrial Park dr. at about 9:30 pm. Found the room and stayed till 5:00 in the morning. Could not sleep since lots of commotions were going on all around. In the morning I realized that this Hotel was filled with illegal migrants!!! They were all over the place. When I called hotel I was told to mind my own business!!! It is my business. I finally saw where my taxes are going! Stay away from ECONO LODGES!!!

BED BUGS. DO NOT STAY HERE!! We were traveling through and stayed one night. The next day my daughter was covered in bites and MD verified they were from bed bugs. When we contacted the hotel to let them know the front desk apologized and promised a refund and a call from the manager. We have called 4 times and no response from manager and no refund. We are continually told the manager will be back the next day and will call and they never do.

On the 4th attempt to talk to a manager I was told by the male at the front desk that "nothing was going to be done and the manager was not going to call". The seriousness of the situation and the need for two medical visits warrants a call from the manager. DO NOT STAY AT A PLACE WHERE THE MANAGER DOES NOT CARE ENOUGH TO GIVE SOMEONE WHO WAS INJURED AT THEIR FACILITY A CALL BACK. BED BUGS have been on multiple reviews for this site and they are still denying they have an issue.

Choice Ripoff! I'm being overcharged for my stay! Your site advertised a Thurs rate of $64 yet I was charged $110, and your Fri. rate reads $96 yet I was charged $130! at Econolodge Biltmore in Asheville. False advertising, either change the rates listed or stop overcharging. Staff says they charged me more because hotel is within 60 mile radius of Asheville. Why is a lower price advertised and no information given about higher rates listed on the Choice website? This is patently fraudulent, class action level fraudulent.

In addition the front desk clerk showed me another customers' bill to prove they raise the rates on weekends. I'm being ripped off and all customers are paying substantially more than the advertised rate apparently with permission from Choice Hotels. From 8/18-8/21 I'm paying nearly $400 for a "budget" hotel. As a diamond level customer, I'm filing complaints everywhere I can then I'm leaving for a better chain due to poor and misleading business practices. This situation may even require litigation.

My girlfriend and I Stayed at the Econolodge in Charlotte on Tryon St. Our flight had been cancelled and booked with the first, cheapest, closest place we could find. First mistake. Got to the hotel and the lobby was hot and muggy, the ceiling was leaking and there was water all over the floor. Key card reader took at LEAST 5 minutes to get even two room keys to program (after the guy went thru about 20 different cards). Security door upstairs didn’t lock, so anybody could walk in and roam the hallway, which looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a week and parts of the ceiling were falling down. Room smelled funky. Lights and outlets on one entire side of the room didn’t work. Mold in the mini fridge.

The AC worked but leaked water all over the floor on that side of the room. Cigarette butt in the toilet of our non smoking room. The room itself was sorta clean-ish... I guess. Wished I’d stayed at the place where they’ll keep the light on for me. I would rather have rented a car and slept in it in a convenience store parking lot. Worst hotel property I’ve ever stayed in. I wasn’t expecting the Ritz Carlton but was expecting WAY better than this. From reading all the negative reviews about Econolodge, I think the CEO needs to be on an episode of Undercover Boss! Stayed at Econo Lodge in St. Roberts, MO from 5/28/21 to 5/30/21 and the desk clerks when checking in and out were wonderful people who made us feel right at home, gave us great directions on where to eat and advice on attractions in the surround area. They were just wonderful. Now, moving on, housekeeping was terrible. Tub, bathroom floor and flooring by bed and TV were dirty. Sink was dirty, but toilet was clean. Guess that accounts for something. We bought our own cleaning supplies at a local general store there and cleaned the room ourselves and left the cleaning supplies behind so housekeeping could continue to keep the room clean. The housekeeper they had that day you could tell was not a happy camper and appeared to not take any pride in her work. Maybe some retraining will be helpful to get the Econo Lodge back up to a 5 Star hotel or at least close to it.

It appears 80% - 90% of the reviews here are 1 to 2 stars because of the uncleanliness of rooms and I think that speaks volume that some retraining needs to be done or if there is no training, some new training on health and cleanliness is needed before someone is hired. I bet you will see a big change in ratings if something like that is done. Good Luck and also, we loved Missouri. Beautiful area!!

We were looking for a hotel in LORDSBURG, NM for the night of 06/09. When we got there we called the ECONO LODGE BY CHOICE HOTELS asking for availability and were told the room would be $55 before tax. We accepted and drove to the property. Outside it had a AAA sign so I asked for a AAA member discount at the front desk and was told “yes”. After the “discount” our rate came out to $58.50 before tax, hmmm interesting discount where you pay $3.50 more than previously quoted but I didn’t say anything as we were tired. The lobby smelled musty and was in major disrepair, the cover of the ceiling light literally was about to fall down, certainly a hazard.

We were given room #103. Upon entering we immediately saw how gross it was. The vinyl floor had not been mopped in a very very long time, it had smears of dirt and grime all over it and one could hear the crumbles crunch while walking. The two queen beds consisted of 2 completely different mattress sets, one lower than the other, it looked like they had been picked up at a dump. The whole room had a bad odor to it. Upon taking off the bed cover sheet, the bedsheet showed several dark stains and I counted a total of 8 hairs in one bed and 4 hairs in the other bed, ABSOLUTELY GROSS!! The bathroom counter was chipped and cracked and the bathtub was dark and grimey.

This property did not at all provide the basic cleanliness and maintenance one would expect from CHOICE HOTELS. It was thoroughly dirty and in disrepair. We decided to leave right away and went to the Hampton Inn which was just fine. I was trying to stop back by at the front desk to inquire about a refund but it was closed and nobody was in sight to listen to my concern. I expect better from CHOICE HOTELS!!

Updated on 05/31/2020: In response to the credit from the hotel. That's Great and hopefully it will be there in 5 to 7 days. Now I want my refund or credit from you / www.Choicehotels .com/Rewards/reservations/Wyndham/ Of 251.00 for a five night stay that I still have not received!!!

Original Review: I booked a room for five nights at the Econolodge in Spokane Washington through Choicehotels.Com. I arrived on time and had one pet. I noticed how filthy the main lobby was and was hesitant to check in but I did and when I opened the door to room 219 I about lost my lunch. Folks this motel was completely disgusting. I decided I had to stay and make the best of my overnight stay because my sight unseen reservation for five nights is getting cut short in the morning and per choice hotels "reservation policy" you must stay overnight one night to avoid cancelation fees.

I stayed awake all night and cleaned and disinfected this room. The floors had hardwood with dog or human feces ground in and stepped on so many times a putty knife was even difficult. There was black mold in between the wood cracks in the floor by the bathroom. The walls were flea larved and dirty filth that I washed off with one of the one towel that was in the bathroom.

I wore long plastic gloves up to my elbows and went to work. It was so disgusting. My towel was brown with stained filth. Around 12 am the cops showed up and lots of commotion was happening around outside. My tv never did work because of the cable was stripped out of the back of the tv. The internet never did work because the password was incorrect. The man at the night shift forgot to come and check on my room and me and the non working appliances.!!! Found out later the guy at front desk said all the rooms have TVs like this in all the rooms after doing inspections. And when it rains no internet service. And he said the maid got fired today. And that's why all the rooms were that way.

Well sir when I first arrived you have a sign hanging on the front window stating, "We are out doing room inspections. Be right back". You're not and never have done any room inspections because you would be shut the hell down and condemned for this motels. The walkways are full of cigarette butts, garbage, and fluids. Nothing in your motels is operatable and if you had food you wouldn't exist because of health reasons.

I was charged for a five night stay when I only stays overnight. 5/18/2020 I was charged 50 for one pet one night 5/18/2020. When clearly econo lodge pet policy along with choice hotels pet policy with econo lodge agreements is only 10 fricking dollars for one pet per night. I was charged 54.00 room fee? +50 for pet + 9.92 motel fee +. 2.00 for administrative fee. 117.00 a night at a 1 star hotel.

Choice hotel charged my card 314.00 for a five night stay after I called them the next morning and told them I checked out and do not charge for five nights!!! I am now only allowed a 251.00 credit back to my debit card which I have not seen yet and it has been 5 working business days.!!! 251 - 314 = 63? And 117.00 charge from econo lodge itself directly!! I want all my 314.00$ back into my account now or I'm getting a attorney and suing your false website. You did not have my permission to withdraw funds at no time a card it to hold the reservation!!!! Hold the reservation!!!!

Econo Lodge - 715 W North Temple, Salt Lake City, Ut. The other econo lodges I've stayed at have been decent for the price, this one is just terrible. Checking in I was informed there was $100 deposit on top of the room, after some haggling I got it down to $50. There is no continental breakfast as advertised, they also advertised room service but the only room service you can get here is the abundance drug dealers and hookers hanging around.

I had to wait about 40 mins after I checked in to go in my room as it hadn't been cleaned, the housekeeper did her best to tidy up but the room was just trashed and nothing like the pictures on the website. The door looked like it had been kicked in and repaired with glue. Even though I already paid, I stayed at a Motel 6 that night. This is easily the worst hotel room I've ever been inside. Oh and my damage deposit still hasn't been refunded 11 days later. Most econo lodges have been decent for me, this place literally should be condemned. I'm not overexaggerating either.

Updated on 08/11/2020: I submitted my review of the Reno Nv, Econo Lodge and my horrible ordeal back in April and no one has tried to look into it or make it right, so why even ask us to submit any documents or proof of stay if you're not going to help? F.Y.I. I had a friend who purchased a room from Reno Nv, Econo Lodge recently and mentioned that the front desk clerk made a mistake checking her in and put her cash deposit as being paid for by her debit card but she caught the mistake and told her "I've messed up before by doing that, good thing I caught it before it screwed you over" not to mention she was also a supervisor.

After she told me about this it made perfect sense and I know that is exactly what had happened in my situation and the fact that they are aware of that happening before and treating me like It was not their problem is absolutely unacceptable. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR RECEIPTS AND TRANSACTION RECORDS.

Original Review: I had no complaints or problems the 9 days I stayed there until I checked out and got ripped off for $100.00 deposit without any explanation of where my money went. The manager Dory was beyond rude and could care less about trying to even help me figure out how to fix this situation when I was trying to show her the e-mails from my card company and Choice Privileges which both advised it was the merchant I needed to work this ordeal out with directly and in person. She got really really rude and cut me off and told me she didn't want to see my e-mails 'cause they aren't paying me nothing and printed out a receipt that didn't even match up to my stay and is very questionable at that. I definitely will not be letting this slide due to the rude way I was treated! I bet they wouldn't feel too good to have $100.00 disappear from their bank account.

I got to the hotel on 11/27/2019. I paid with my debit card. The clerk who handled the payment didn't know what she was doing and ended up messing up the account. I let her know that my card never had any payment issues. She processed my card as a credit card instead of an debit card. The money was held pending over a month. No merchant release letter was sent by Econolodge to secure the payment from my card company. The clerk assured me that the issues with the card were in the past, don't worry. Never look a good horse in the mouth.

After the fiasco with the card, I let the hotel staff know that I will be paying by cash and to leave my card alone. On 12/31/2019, the hotel deducted money from my debit card, after I advised them of receiving my payments in cash. My card company is investigating the dispute now as a unauthorized transaction. We receive very limited housekeeping service. Once they decided to move me and my family to another room, we didn't receive housekeeping at all. For 2 weeks, we had no clean linens. I had my own towels, thank God. The general manager is curt, at best. I wouldn't have my pet stay there, let alone a enemy. That's why 1 star is all I give this hotel. But that's because I couldn't put down a 0.

We had booked 5 rooms October in order to attend the North Carolina Transportation Museum Polar Express Train Ride. When we checked in we were assigned 5 rooms. Once we went into the rooms things started to get bad and went to worse. One of the rooms had toenail clippings on top of the bedspread. Another had either a black hair net or panties on top of the pillow when the spread was pulled down. Another room had a long thick black hair on the pillow when the spread was pulled down. One member of our group went into her room and found a man sitting on the bed.

Finally the last room had beer tabs on the bathtub and snack food all over the floor. After bringing these problems to the attention of the clerk for the third time we were advised that if we were not happy with the rooms we could get and refund and go someplace else. She sent a maintenance guy to check the rooms and he looked at the toenails, the long black hair on the pillow, picked up the hairnet or panties and threw them in a trash can and told me that none of this justified changing rooms. When I asked what he meant that this did not justify changing rooms he said that I had better watch myself and started toward me as though he wanted to fight. I stood my ground and he stopped and went back to mouthing. Filthy does no even start to describe this place.

I booked and prepaid over a week ago. I am disabled. This place has no elevator to the second floor, so I needed a first floor room. Due to my disability, it is best to have a separate bed from my husband when we travel. I booked two queen beds. I requested a quiet side room. Pictures, and some info pages show a coffee pot, hair dryer, a microwave and a fridge. All but the hair dryer were part of my choice to stay here. Also no smoking, no pets.

I booked online, selecting 2 queen room. I put in my requests. Last week I called reservations to confirm the room and requests. She called the front desk then assured me everything was good. Today I called the front desk to make sure it was ok to check in at 9pm, was told no problem. We arrived at the same time as a bus with 15 people on it. There was an employee out changing trash bags, who saw us all arrive. We went in, rang the bell repeatedly but waited 10 minutes for that employee to come in with the trash.

He took a while with the person in front of me. He then proceeds to tell me there are no dual queens available. It there is one, but it's "dirty". Then tries to give me a room on the second floor. He basically says I should have called in today to go over specifics, he had no note, so he didn't save the room. Um, prepaid but if there isn't a "note" I guess they rent it to whomever shows up. He said he doesn't have any authority on giving us a discount or comping a night, he just works there. I asked about the manager, I was told he won't be in for two days. So we end up with a king. RIGHT up by the desk. So, not quiet. Took 30 minutes to check in.

Walking in, the bed was rumpled. No hair dryer, no coffee pot, no microwave. Next I hear barking. No pets? Five minutes in, I go to the front desk. Supposedly it was a service dog. I doubt it. A family member has one, and I know others are trained not to just bark and bark. Go to get ice, machine is broken. I can hear the people above me walking, scooting chairs and talking. Splendid, non carpeted floors. Have trouble with wifi. You have to move things near the tv and high up to get anything to connect. So no using it on the bed or in the chair. Chair upholstery was ripped and stained. The ac barely works. The room is ok, not spotless, but not filthy.

I go to take a shower, the curtain was hung so low it puddled in the bottom of the tub and I was tripping on it. The curtain was moved in so far it was sticking to you. The shower head was barely tall enough for me, I'm 5'7". My poor hubby is 6'2". He wasn't a happy camper trying to shower. The mattress is also pretty saggy. I have never had this many problems. I probably sound a bit picky. I PAID for these things. I have a tough enough time, I don't need extra challenges. I would never have agreed to pay this for the experience I am having. 6am you awake to slamming doors. Pictures of the breakfast bar look good, but it definitely isn't. Hot tub has been filled with concrete. Pool is still there. If you want what you pay for, don't go here. Location was Longmont, CO.

Traveling for work from Ohio to Massachusetts, I booked a room from a listing on Booking.com at $75 a night for an Econolodge just off the Thruway at 9:50PM on the 21st of September. I received a confirmation that I was booked at the Econolodge in Darien (no state listed). When I got the hotel an hour and a half later, it was to find I was not booked at that location. I selected the link to contact the location on my confirmation and found that the location I'd been booked in was in Darien, GA, 990 miles from where I was standing. I had a conversation with the manager at 11:30PM and he told me that he'd already charged my credit card, but would reverse the charge once contacted by Booking.com ... my telling him that the reservation should be cancelled as erroneous was insufficient.

I spent 13 minutes searching for a customer service number for Booking.com as they do not provide such on their website, App, or confirmation correspondence. I spoke with an agent who contacted the Darien, GA Econolodge but who was told she'd have to speak with the manager who was no longer there. She informed me they would follow up with the hotelier in the morning and contact me. Apparently Booking.com did follow up with the GA hotel manager in the morning but were told that hotel policy prohibited reversing the charge for a room I could not use. Booking.com did not bother to call me on the 22nd for an update as promised.

Meantime, I checked into a room at the Darien Lake Econolodge at more than twice the price I'd been quoted on Booking.com as they were rapidly running out of rooms. So, I have been charged three times the rate I was offered, lied to about reversal of the erroneous charge... and, the no-show charge by the Darien, GA Econolodge was for the full room rate and not for the cancellation charge listed on the reservation confirmation (which was about $10 less). Booking.com is the prime culprit here, but the Econolodge in Darien, GA has behaved fraudulently, if not criminally, as well. Only the Econolodge in Darien Lake, NY has clean hands in this matter, even if their bathrooms are filthy.

Myself, my fiancé and my nephews were going to a concert and this Econolodge was close to the concert. So we thought we’d stay there. We came into our room at 10 pm went to bed. Woke up and left at 9am. I made sure I made the beds and cleaned it well so there was no problems getting my security deposit of 50$. We went outside to smoke cigarettes since it’s a smoke free establishment. And that I liked. No one likes to have a smelly room. When I tried to get my security deposit back. The lady at the front desk who went to check out the room said it smelled of smoke. And we never smoked in it. That fifty dollars was our gas money to get home. We’re all adults and I’m positive no one smoked in the room. So I was annoyed she wouldn’t give the cash back. So I asked for a manager to go check.

She didn’t speak English and she said it did also. Which doesn’t make sense to me. And refused to give the deposit back. And I was furious. That was all the cash we had to get home. I had to wait 4 hrs for someone to wire me money to get home. I just can’t believe how ignorant they were to us. And how they acted towards myself. They threatened to call the police because I said I wasn’t leaving until I got the deposit back. But I wasn’t going to have to deal with police over it. That’s ridiculous. I’m so disappointed in how I was treated. What a joke.

I advise be wary of any Econolodge to everyone. When I finally got the money wired to me. I told a cashier at a gas station what happened. And she even said it happened to her sister at the same hotel. Please make this right and refund my deposit. And to top everything off someone two doors down overdosed on drugs and ems and cops also were there for quite a while making noise and it was hard to sleep. Terrible experience.

My family of 5 (including children and an 8 month old) stayed at the Econolodge on 8700 S Orange Blossom Trl, Orlando, FL. I booked 2 nights on Memorial weekend 2019 (Just this weekend). This hotel was roach infested, from the first room (2216) - we called concierge to complain and they provided a key card to a second room, which was exactly like the first. The gentleman who brought the key cards did not even bother to offer help to move from one room to another, did not bother to take a look at the roach problem or even to clean up the leak from the mini fridge. Once we moved to the second room (3217), same thing, roaches, we called concierge from our cell phones, because the phone in the room did not work. Concierge advised that there were no more rooms available, we tried to find another hotel but unfortunately other hotels were booked due to the holiday weekend (even Motel8!).

I am beyond words for the disgusting rooms, the lack of customer service, as NO ONE even bothered to come up to the room to check and make sure that the room was fine once we moved. We had to purchase our own blankets and purchase our own cleaning products to be able to even try and sleep in the room, we ended up splitting between some of us sleeping in our vehicle in the parking lot and some staying in the room. I do not understand how ANY establishment that is meant for vacations or to take trips, etc. is run in this fashion, for even choicehotels.com to have awarded them any type of award is unfathomable. At check-out the woman at the counter (I will not post names) stated that there were no notes at all in the system of the initial complaint of roaches. Again, lack of... She did state that she would leave fully notated to the managers so that I could get a full refund.

To begin on May 4, 2019 I contacted Choice to redeem some points and to book a room for my daughter and wife birthday weekend. Representative by the name of Lynn assisted me in doing so. She found and booked a room at the Econolodge at 2061 Gulf to Bay Blvd Clearwater Beach FL. Lynn told me that my card will not be charged until check in at which I received a call early Saturday morning from ** the front desk clerk at Econolodge. ** called stating that he was attempting to charge my card to reserve the room but the funds was insufficient at which I already knew that. I was transferring funds to that card on Saturday morning. ** stressed to me that I would not have a room if I did not have funds on my card by 4 pm. That was taken care of ASAP by me. (Quick transfer)...

I in return told ** that I'm bringing my family consisting of my 4 month daughter. I stressed to him just as he did about my money on my card. "Please make sure the room is in order and not full of bed bugs, etc." ** reassured me that he would walk through himself. After arriving around 5 pm we checked put our bags in the room and went out for family time. Upon returning to the hotel room me and my son chose to sleep out on the sofa bed and play video games. We pulled the pullout sofabed out and ???? the mattress looked as if it was it into a fillet and zip tied back together you could clearly see from one side to the other. I have multiple pictures. I in return went to the front desk at which now ** was the desk clerk. I showed him the pictures and at first asked for a different room. He said, "No there are no empty rooms available" which was false. 219 above us was empty.

I then asked to just allow me to do the labor and just swap mattresses. He said no again rudely. I then called Choice and spoke with Scott. He in return tried to solution it and compromise with the front desk. Still answer was no, only thing he offered was a sheet or a 15% refund and find another hotel. Mind you it's 12 midnight and I had my 4 month old daughter. After going back and forth I was on the phone for a second time with Choice looking to relocate. As I walked into the room (121) the phone rang (** front desk), "You have 15 minutes to pack and get out." Raging at me (you called and reported us I want you out..!!) "I'm calling the police..." I in return said, "Please do call the police. Please I would like to have my refund as well please and I will wait for law enforcement."

After discussing the issue with officer S **, he advised me of other hotels and states that he would be upset too if he had a mattress that looked like that. Nowww... instead of refunding me my 121.81 ** charged me a second time on my debit card and tried to deny the fact even after seeing and hearing my online automated teller with Bank of America... Me and family was out 'til 3 am looking for another hotel ripped off out of 121.81 twice at which later to find out 1 refund of 121.81 was reimbursed at 2:40 am.

The biggest issue is I had my newborn baby and no one at Choice call center offered any kind of assistance to relocate us after we went through Choice to establish our visit. I am very disappointed with Choice for even sponsoring such a low life hotel and to not even offer me and my family any kind of assistance or compensation. Sad sad sad... ** was my confirmation number. It was an experience I wish upon no one. Look the hotel up on Google and Travelocity. I have posted pictures there as well. Hotels such as these have no business being open at all.

I booked a room at the Econo Lodge in Niagara Falls Ont for the 27th and 28th of April. When we arrived at 830 pm on the 27th we were told that the lodge would be closed the following day and we would be relocated to an area that would cost us 30+ to cab to and from. We were blown away that we didn't get any notification before this and felt like we should have been contacted in transit.

The front desk told us we could take it or leave and find something else. Being exhausted we took the first night but had to find a different place to stay the second night to avoid ridiculous cab fares. We asked about any compensation and were told there would be no compensation for travel since we could leave our car on the parking lot, so we could have parked there just on our anniversary. We couldn't have a drink because we would not have to drive.

We contacted Choice Hotels and were placed in a closer hotel, in the Falls are, for the same rate, but it was not dictated to us that there was a $18 parking charge for the second hotel. When I raised concerns I was told this information should have been disclosed but they would not waive it now at check out. All in all our experience with Choice Hotels was not good and we won’t be booking with this chain anymore. All we had was hassle and extra cost. We were without a place to go for 4 hours between check out at one location and check in at the other. We requested that since the move was not our issue we could get an early check in and were told that's not the way it worked.

We were told to contact customer service who basically said the reservation and booking were finalized after check in and we would not be compensated for our awful experience, but they could give me Choice points if I sign up for a Choice membership and I can get so much towards my next stay... even after I asked why I would ever stay with Choice again after this experience. I was forwarded into the Choice membership line anyways and hung up from there. Honestly, even with everything we had to deal with, all I wanted was a refund for the parking to have a satisfied customer.

My husband and I had the worst experience at the Econo Lodge Hotel Paw Paw, MI this last weekend. We arrived at the Econo Lodge late after a long day with family and provided our pre-paid reservation information. At first the person at the desk just indicated we didn't have a reservation. After showing him the documents confirming our reservation, he conceded that we had a reservation but he had cancelled it. He informed us that he had the right to refuse anyone a room at his discretion. After checking with all the other hotels in Paw Paw, it became clear that rooms were in high demand that night and no rooms were available.

The person at the counter explained that we had made our pre-paid reservations with an online travel company and that Econo Lodge is paid significantly less for those reservations than ones that the Econo Lodge makes directly with customers. Apparently it is their policy to cancel online reservations if they can resell the room directly to another customer at a higher rate. If you ever get stuck with a reservation to the Econo Lodge Paw Paw, MI, I strongly recommend you rearrange your travel schedule to check in as early as possible to see if you still have a room. Always have a back-up reservation with a reputable hotel or you will likely end up like my husband and I - a long way from home in the middle of the night with no place to stay.

I had pre-paid for my June 23, 2018 one night Econolodge Paw Paw, MI reservation through Hotwire.com on May 21, 2018. I felt comfortable that all was well with the reservation when I got a reminder email from Hotwire on June 21, 2018. I arrived at the Econolodge front desk just after 11:00 PM after a long day. I provided my ID and indicated that I had a one day prepaid reservation. A middle aged gentleman at the counter took my ID to check his computer and returned shortly to indicate that he had no record of my reservation in his system. I provided him electronic confirmation of my pre-paid reservation with confirmation number.

The gentleman took my information and again indicated that the reservation was not showing up in his system that he had at the front desk. I asked if he had any contacts or phone numbers that he could call to get the problem resolved. He indicated that he didn't keep any of those numbers because they did not respond to him after typical business hours. I asked if he could call Hotwire to resolve the issue and he responded that he did not work for Hotwire. He further explained that Hotwire was very unreliable and that if it was up to him, Econolodge would not work with Hotwire. I asked the gentleman if he could call a Choice Hotels contact and he responded that they were just a third party booking company and were unfamiliar with the Econolodge Paw Paw operations.

Seeing that the gentleman at the front desk was unwilling to make any effort to get my issue resolved, I called Hotwire.com myself. After locating my pre-paid reservation the Hotwire representative called and had a conversation with the gentleman at the front desk. At the Econolodge counter clerk's request, the Hotwire representative faxed the information that Hotwire had previously transmitted to the Econolodge on my pre-paid reservation. After having the conversation with the Hotwire representative and getting a fax of the information that had been transmitted previously, the counter clerk would still not honor the pre-paid reservation. After working with the counter clerk and talking to the Hotwire representative for about 45 minutes, I concluded that I would not be getting a room at the Econolodge Paw Paw, MI.

After checking the other three hotels in Paw Paw, MI, I found that no rooms were available for that night in Paw Paw, MI. It appears the Econolodge counter clerk took it upon himself to re-sell my pre-paid room to another customer since I was arriving late. The clerk's negative comments about Hotwire also appeared to be an attempt by the clerk to provide additional cover for his claimed ignorance of the reservation. After over 40 years of business and personal travel, I cannot say I have ever been treated so disrespectfully by a hotel counter clerk. Needless to say, I will not be making any reservations at any Econolodge hotels in the future.

Many hotels did not have much availability for the time frame needed. I found the EconoLodge. Pictures of it on website showed it as a decent place. Our room was on the 3rd floor, there was NO elevator, had to walk up to the 3rd floor. There was NO microwave, coffeepot, or alarm clock in the room. Had only 1 chair, had to ask for another chair since there were 2 of us. That 2ND chair had a leg that was broken.

Carpet was disgustingly stained. Had to get key cards reprogrammed several times, for both the outside door and room door. The tile above shower had water damage. Carpets in hallways were extremely stained, and halls had a musty smell to them. We could hear a dog barking 3-4 rooms down. The only good thing I can say is that there were no bedbugs, and I checked everything for them. We have stayed in a couple EconoLodge's, and they were pretty decent and clean. We will not stay in an EconoLodge again, just because of this place. OH 335 28611 Euclid Ave, Wickliffe Ohio, Room 385.

Econolodge in Texarkana,TX. Roughly 12:40 am. We booked our room a few hours earlier via our choice hotels app. Surprisingly the hotel had 4 out of 5 stars. Pictures looked good. Sweet right? We booked a king size bed no smoking room. My confirmation email shows it. What we are given is a 2 double bed smoking room. So we ask for a non smoking room, king size bed. We get to our new room and it's non smoking but double size. Ok we can deal. My friend goes to check the bathroom and pulls out a towel and there was a dead cockroach in the towel.

There were 2 dead ones by the bed. So flush those and pull up the covers on the bed to check for bugs. As we check I look up and there is a large live cockroach on the wall. That was our breaking point. So we went and asked for a refund. The clerk says we trashed the room, but in reality all we did was pull up the covers to check for bugs. Since we saw 4 who knows if there would be more. We received the refund and left. I know cockroaches are a normal bug in Texas area, but I was not okay with sleeping in a room with them. This hotel shouldn't even get a star. By far the worst experience I've had in a hotel ever. Very very sad.

We was there 20 June 2017. Before the last 27 years we always loved them. Now in Wade, NC, 3945 Goldsboro Rd, we got the room. The first room the hard floor never washed the last 6 months. Bed was very dirty, not changed and the coffee pitcher had a 4 weeks old mold coffee there, but the cleaner like some tip, I gave to her. Better you cleaning. The second room was ok but tv, telephone, alarm clock was not working. Get my tip too. Morning we find out the manager is all week on the GOLF TOURNAMENT, and nobody replace it. Why?? Besides we had to pay 20$ more for king size bed. We never ever had to pay extra money. It's truth. Nothing last forever. We find on the way home; HOLIDAY EXPRESS INN and 15$ more than this garbage dump, and breakfast, SO GREAT LIKE LUNCH. Please never ever stay ECONOLODGE AGAIN. Thank you.

I will never go back to this hotel ever in life again. Usually the staff is nice but the manager's wife who was an elder Indian lady was super rude. In the morning when we went for breakfast we told her "Good morning" she only stared at us and didn't reply. When I took my kids to the pool we asked for extra towels. She asked what room we were in and stated I only have a king size room and didn't pay for that. I was floored. I told her I would pay for the extra towels. She was very rude and disrespectful.

I had been a faithful customer to them for almost a year so she knew I was a regular. When I called and complain the manager only said he will talk to her because he wasnt there so he has to talk to her and see what she says. That is some straight bs. Their room are not even up to code standards. To be frank I feel she was racist.

We went to the room, opened the door, beer cans everywhere, beds messed up. Went back to the office told them. They moved us. Got to that room. Water didn't work in the tub, our shower door would not lock, lock was broke off. Told them. They said, "Sorry we are out of rooms." We had our kids. Didn't really feel safe but we stayed. Got home a week later and found we had bed bugs. Had to get the house and beds and furniture treated a 1000 dollars later. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have photos.

I am so utterly disgusted in the fact that the Econolodge located in Carrollton GA is still in business and nothing has been done or investigated regarding all the bad reviews on their website. I have stayed there and it's a horrible place. For one the property needs an overhaul badly inside and out. They have infestations of roaches and they have so many rooms that have bed bugs. And when it's brought to the attention of the what is called manager it's pretty much ignored. If you're lucky enough not to get cursed out and banned from the property she will smile in your face and bellow out her plans to make it right and give you tons of apologies but when you leave she laughs and goes on to what she does best which is nothing.

The manager is very angry acting and very volatile. The employees act afraid of her and she berates and belittles them in front of guests. The particular few nights we stayed there we complained so many times about the roaches, about people hanging outside, no tv remote, our sheets had blood looking stains in them (so we went to Walmart and bought our own) but all of our complaints were ignored. Late in middle of the first night we began to smell marijuana very strong coming from the room next to ours and we also called about that. The next morning I went in to speak to the manager and she first got irritated that I even came to her and then she assured me she would handle it.

That next night we started smelling it again and cars were coming and going so we started to peep out to see what was going on and we actually saw the manager going into that room and she didn't leave out til that next morning around 10 as we left for our game. When I approached her and told her I saw her in there that night she says to me, "Oh yes. I stay on the property a lot and that room is reserved for mgmt." Totally forgetting that I had complained of the marijuana rolling out of there. I was dumbfounded. So in doing some talking to people who live there and some of the desk clerks that seems to be normal activity.

The manager has her father who is an opiate addicted junkie that uses needles to shoot up in his live in room there working as maintenance. Which explains why the roach treatments and bed bug treatments and broken beds or windows or lamps are just not getting fixed. And as bad as all of this is it only scratches the surface of what all is going on. There are rooms that have full families living in them full time with 3 or 4 dogs. There are women who are out there soliciting prostitution and drug dealers lurking. It's so sad.

So after the second night we decided to cut our stay short but went into the lobby to get coffee and a muffin before leaving out and the manager was actually there that early which shocked me but when I began to check out and tell her how the whole experience was she got so irate. She told me if I didn't like how she ran her property that I could take my ** to another hotel and that she wasn't going to kiss anyone's **. She even said for me to go ahead and try to call and complain on her cause many many have tried and nothing has ever been done. She tried to say she owned the property but I'm not so sure of that. She said Choice was a crap show company anyways and she didn't care if they pulled their name from her property.

So I attempted to make complaints and make complaints but the confirmation number she originally gave me is saying it's not valid so I'm sure she fixed that somehow. The desk clerks told me that she would go in and change things so really bad complaints were filed that she could get rid of them and she also would go on the site herself or have one of them to make a good review to help boost up her scores. Anyways that's my complaint and I can only pray that someone in the whole Choice Hotels team somewhere will bring a stop to this horrible place carrying their otherwise good name. We shall see. I have made many attempts. Please do what's right.

The Econo Lodge on Providence Highway and affiliate with Choice Hotels located in Sharon, Massachusetts is far from an adequate place to stay and enjoy a visit to the Boston area. The hotel clerk and staff are far from friendly and the rooms do not look like any of the pictures from the online website. The bathroom and vanity area was full of hair and soap scum, microwave was filthy with food from the guests and or guests from previous stays and it looked like the freezer and refrigerator had never seen a day of cleaning. We chose this location because it was one of the cheapest rates for Choice Hotels in the areas. Mind you it was over 100 dollars a night's stay.

Upon telling clerk about all the problems, they just brushed it off and didn't offer any compensation. Choice Hotels International really needs to look into their franchise properties. Hotels are a place where guests stay for vacation, to visit family, etc. As myself working in a hotel the guest expectations have not and will not ever be met at this location and it is not recommended. My pillowcase had pen marks all over it for God's sakes. I know the CEO of Choice Hotels went undercover to some of his hotels on the popular TV show, Undercover Boss, but obviously not enough digging happened during his findings. Not acceptable and will not be choosing Choice Hotels until something is done about my stay. Vacation to Boston was ultimately ruined. Thank you Choice Hotels.

I stayed at the Choice Hotel (Econo Lodge) on Queen City Drive near the airport in Charlotte, North Carolina when a mirror fell off the wall. I informed the desk clerk and she stated that the hotel did not have anyone to clean it up, I would have to do it myself. She did not have any other rooms for me to switch over to either. That same desk clerk gave me a broom to remove the glass and told me that I had to get it up myself. There was at the time a maintenance person that stated he was tired and he was not cleaning it up. I had just checked into the room and asked then if I could speak to the manager. Once reentering the room and moving all my belongings to the front of the room, a piece of the rest the mirror cut my hand. I immediately went back to the desk and explained what happened and they said that they had a room for me then. I had to go to the emergency room to get 8 stitches.

I addressed it with the manager the next day, Dhi ** and has since been trying to get in touch with her and no one has given me a call back as of yet. I needed someone to take care of this situation so that I can get this resolved with the hospital. As often as I have stayed at this location, I am taken aback by the customer service and the lack of concern for the guests. In the future I hope that when an issue like this is presented that it will be acknowledge in a timely manner. I'm still taken aback by the lack of response.

On 01-12-17 I checked into the Econo Lodge in Fallbrook Ca. Upon arrival I found that the parking lot was tight and not designed for the size of vehicle I was driving (full size Dodge pickup). After checking into room 107 we found that the doors did not shut tight and had to be double locked to hold tight. In the bathroom there was a lack of ventilation which could account for the large black stains on the ceiling above the shower.

The next morning when I went to the office for breakfast there was no orange juice. It was empty. There was no pastry, or bread for toast. The desk clerk had to be called to remedy this. (This was at 745, it is supposed to open at 700am and should be ready.) We left the hotel and returned at 7:30 that evening. When we entered our room we found that it had not been made up or cleaned. Housekeeping had not even entered the room. When I went to the office to ask why it was in this condition the first thing I was asked was "are you sure". I explained that the room was UN-touched and he, the clerk, was welcome to come and see for himself which he declined. He then asked If we had left the do not disturb sign out. I told him that there was not even a sign in the room. He advised that the problem would be addressed with housekeeping the next day.

The next day as we were preparing to leave I went to the office to check out and get my receipt and found the office closed with sign on the door that said go to night check in. The office is supposed to be open at 7:00am. At this time it was 7:20. After ringing the night bell several times a man appeared and told me to come back later. I told him that I wanted to check out and get my receipt. He stated that he would get someone.

After a few minutes he returned and attempted to open the side door which he did with some difficulty. He asked what I needed and I told him to check out. He asked what room and I told him 107. He asked this question 7 times and left the desk going to the back 3 times stating he needed help with the computer. When he finally got my receipt it was almost 30 minutes. I have been in law enforcement for over 30 years and have observed a lot of people and it is my opinion that the way this person acted and looked he was not that way from lack of sleep. My wife and I travel a lot and try to always stay at a Choice Hotel. Be assured that we will no longer pick an Econo Lodge.

First room they put us in I killed 11 cockroaches in less than 30 minutes, taking them to the front desk in a Kleenex, putting them on the counter for everyone to see. The clerk was in total shock. At first she only offered to go spray the room this horrible smelling stuff. My mother has COPD and could not stand the smell of the spray. The carpet was filthy there wasn't no way we would take our shoes off and walking across that carpet - candy smashed into the carpet.

My service dog would not lay on the carpet. She refused to sit. She didn't even want to lay down on the bed. The bed skirts had white bodily fluids that were clearly visible. The bathroom has black mold around the tub and the ceiling behind the door room smells musty and moldy. Meanwhile this hotel is supposed to be 100% smoke-free. It is 100% smoked in both the rooms they tried to show us. Smell horrible cigarette smoke. The second room they showed us again carpets were filthy. The rundown not anything that I would expect any person and let them stay in those kind of conditions.

The outside of the hotel in the hallways were filthy trash on the floor with dirty paper towels and rags laying around, cigarette butts in the hallways smashed into the carpet, rusty and moldy doors. I demanded a hundred percent of my money in a refund and we left. Shame on Clarion Hotel website of saying this Motel had a four-star rating. In the pictures they have posted on the website are clearly not of the rooms in that hotel. I felt like I had been lied to and deceived to get us to stay there and find out we were not in a well maintain hotel.

We walked our dogs at the end of the building, where we saw two broken air conditioners, two refrigerators, and a toilet. There was also trash all over the place. It was gross!

In the morning we went to the office to request another room, and that's when we found out that, even though the dogs weren't staying in the room with us, we would be charged $25 per dog per night. Why? They were on the property. According to the woman at the desk, this is standard practice at all hotels on the Cape. We checked out, and sure enough the bill showed $69 for room and $50 for dogs that stayed in the car. Seriously? We went next door to the Days Inn, where we got a room for $99 a night. Pets are not allowed, but there was no charge for dogs staying in the car. The room and the property were clean, and everything worked just fine. We thoroughly enjoyed the dog show and rested well at the Days Inn. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Econo Lodge? I won't stay in any Econo Lodge after this experience!!!

When we got there, the pool was green, that upset us but we would deal with it as we just traveled for hours and were tired. The room smelled musty when we walked in. I sat down on the bed. My husband sat on the chair. The bed was extremely damp feeling, I then went to prop a pillow behind my back and I see something thru the pillowcase, it is BLOOD. I then go into the bathroom, there is no plug for the bathtub, there is pubic hair on the toilet seat & on the floor. I'm so disgusted by then, but we were exhausted, I wanted to check the bed sheets & there was something black and gross on it.

I then went to the office and told them that I wanted a refund! The manager said that she'd have to look at the room, which was understandable. She pats the bed & says "that's dry", I show her the blood on the pillow, was told that she'd get me another pillow. She said the bathroom was clean, that the room was fine and we weren't getting a refund. I held up the sheet and asked if she considered that to be clean also. She once again told me that she would not give a refund. I at that point told her that she could stay in that bed because we weren't! She then told me that she'd put us in another room, I told her that I'd like to see the room first, I was told that I wasn't allowed to touch anything or unmake the bed. I told her that I wanted to make sure it was clean. Her reply was "I TOLD YOU. IT WAS CLEAN." It was the WORSE place we have ever stayed!

There was a water leak in the room so the floor by the bathroom was soaked, which added to the smell.

Half of the lights did not work, so it was very dark but you could still see all the stains in the rug and on the linens. Bed linens looked like they had NEVER BEEN WASHED. I am COVERED in mosquito and bedbug bites. I was told there was WiFi and yet I could not get a connection. The wastebaskets were full of garbage and disgusting. I have photos. This is appalling. I had been driving for 9 hours and there was literally nowhere to stay in this small town of Osceola Arkansas. I was charged 89.00 for this nightmare!! I cannot believe this company would allow such conditions. I cannot seem to find any type of email contact to report these deplorable conditions. I shall be contacting corporate in this matter. I expect a FULL REFUND!

I have been trying to get this straightened out. I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Canton, GA. On the 14th of June I was charged 58+$ for my room which I paid for with my credit card. Then when I was checking my account I see that there was another charge of 100$ from the same hotel. I called the hotel and they told me that the 100$ was because we smoked in the room. First of all I asked for a smoking room because the person that I was traveling with smokes but when we got to the room there was a no smoking sign on the door. Being that it was late we both just fell asleep and when we got up in the morning we picked up our things and checked out. (No one smoked).

Personally I don't think that without a inspection of the room before and after that I should be responsible for paying a 100$ or any other fine for any purpose. And I believe that if you are going to rent a room to someone you should make it a priority to inform people that if they deem necessary that they are going to charge you 100$ for any wrong doings. It is only fair. Anyway I live on a fixed income and cannot afford to lose that much money. As a result of this issue my friend had to have money sent to him so we could finish our trip. I am hoping that someone will help me solve this issue and maybe we can all learn something from it. Thank you.

This review is about the Econo Lodge at exit 41, on I75 north in London, Kentucky. My husband and I had been driving for the better part of the day. We decided to stop for the night and checked in. Upon arrival to our room, I sat on the bed. My husband moved his pillow, and on top of his pillow was a bed bug. We immediately left, got our refund, and went to another hotel. Upon check in at this hotel, I asked if their rooms had bed bugs. I found it odd that this person knew exactly which hotel I had just come from. With other hotels in the area knowing that this particular has bed bugs, I find it hard to believe that the management of the Econo Lodge would not do anything to eliminate this health hazard. I will not frequent another Econo Lodge any time soon.

Horrific experience is probably an understatement. I checked in at the Econo Lodge West in El Paso, Tx. on Mesa St. The lack of cleanliness and hygiene at this hotel is beyond disgusting! I was switched not once or twice but three times since every room I was put in was disgustingly filthy! The first room was the worst. I walked into a bed frame, wall, picture mounted on top of the bed and sofa all completely covered in semen!! Yes! I'm not exaggerating it was completely covered in it. Absolutely disgusting!! The remote control was absolutely filthy as well, full of who knows what and human hair!! Oh yes, and let's not forget the phone in the room did not work. I went to the front office to express my disgust and wanted my money back but the manager refused and put me in another room. Well this one had dirty, stained towels and the bedding had blood stains and burned cigarette holes.

Again I requested my money back so I can go to a decent, clean hotel and the manager was very rude and said, "You can leave if you wish but will not get your money back." Tried calling customer service, was on hold for over an hour and got hung up on. I tried corporate but never got thru. I again went to the front desk and there was a different person who told me the exact same thing. "I can't help you, I cannot reimburse you and it's up to you if you want to stay or go."

She said she could change me again to another room and I told her I would bet anything it would not make a difference what room I would go to - they will all be the same so I made her accompany me to check the new room I was going to stay in so she can walk around and check it with me and sure enough we found the shower curtain full of blood as well as the shower wall. I mean how in the world is that place open! There is no possible way it would pass an inspection. Needless to say I grabbed my stuff and left and these people stole my money. Please, please don't stay at this hotel and don't let any friends and family go thru the nightmare I had to go thru.

One night stay at Richburg SC Econo lodge. I arrived late as I was traveling North. Was given a room on the bottom floor. I woke up and took a shower. While taking a shower I turned around and I felt a slight pain on my left foot. I looked down and the shower had a 6 in or so crack in the floor. I got out of the shower and my foot had a cut along the side of it. I wrapped it up and had a first aid kit in my bag. I put some antibiotic and a band-aid over the cut. I didn't think it had cut that deep. I went to the office and showed the 2 ladies at the counter and they stated, "Oh that room was not to be rented, we're so sorry about that. We knew there was a room with a broken tub but we forgot which one it was." I ask for the manager and they said she wasn't in yet. I had to get on the road, so I left and made a note of the place and thought well I should be able to call back and see about a discount or refund my money.

I sent a email to the address what had happened along with the pictures of my foot and the crack. Well their website would not take the pictures, so after 2 tries I removed the pics and sent it though. While on my vacation my foot started hurting more and I shortened my vacation and headed home. Bought 2 big bottles of Listerine and soaked my foot. I tried calling 3 times for the manager and he or she was never there yet they said. I sent another email to the gm138@choicehotels.com to let them know what was up. I pulled out a 1/8 to 3/16 in piece of white fiberglass out of my foot. Finally after a week they responded by sending me a email stating they wanted to talk to me and gave me a phone number to call. It was their reservation line. I waited like 5 min burning up my minutes on my phone twice.

Later after another week they left a message by Silva with a number w/ no area code and the same 1-800-300-8800. "Gee, thanks. Your call is very important. Just wait for the next available person." That sounds like they really don't want to hear from anyone. My foot is better now and I will make it a point to never stay at a Choice hotel chain hotel again nor would I recommend it to anyone else. It's not worth the pain or the runaround.

Econolodge Selma NC. On Monday February 29th 2016 I was extremely tired as well as a co-worker of mine who came later from Law enforcement physical training camp in South Carolina and I couldn't make it home all the way so I stopped at the Econolodge in Selma. I used my AARP and was charged 67.19. When you check into any establishment, you expect for the motel to grant you what you ask for. Mind you when we were resting, we heard several women who appeared to be arguing loudly below the room we were assigned on the first level. We both figured it was something brief and being that we were both tired we let it go. Then approx. 40 to 45 min later two parties began to get loud again. One party of males beside us and some females and along with that a car in the parking area blasting their music.

When I gathered my things as well as my co-worker we discovered a roach coming from behind the cups. This is definitely not good not just for us because they can be carried to our residence but to the hotel and other guest because they breed and spread germs. I addressed my issues with the night desk person. They wanted to move me to a front room. I wanted my money back. She made a call and refused to grant me what I requested. She stated we should have called first. This is totally unacceptable. What happened to the customer is always right? Why would I fabricate a story to get my money back? If I pay for a place to rest and quiet that is what the hotel should require.

What frustrated me even more, when I reported about the arguing and the women appeared to go outside in the parking lot, the lady looked at the camera. She should be monitoring the cameras anyway which tells me that the establishment doesn't care about the welfare of its guest. I am requesting my refund. I don't deserve this type of service and I plan to forward my complaint elsewhere. But I need for something to be done. We were not nasty to the night worker but she didn't even try to offer another option other than moving to the front where it could still have the potential of being uncomfortable and noisy. I need my refund back. Please someone really needs to come forward and give me that or another option. I feel like Econolodge ripped me off. Thank you.

Thanksgiving weekend 2015. Econo Lodge Downtown Memphis TN. The wrong hotel was booked for me by a family member, during a family reunion weekend, they were booking hotels for all the families that were attending. Was supposed to have been Econo Lodge Memphis on Elvis Presley Blvd. We asked for a refund to book the correct hotel and they would not. So we thought this might be ok and we would have to drive further to meet our families.

The worse experience in my life, it was torture. Just filthy and unsanitary. I had to put towels on the floor for my dog and us to walk on. We never took off our shoes. We didn't bathe in the shower or tub. We went to the other hotel where other family members lodged to bathe. The doors rattled, my granddaughter was locked in her room and couldn't get it open, we had to pull and jerk to get her out. There was a bubble filled with water hung from the ceiling that leaked from a room above, probably leaked from a bathroom.

The front lobby was dirty and the furniture in there looked unclean and moldy. The elevator didn't work properly, one side broke down and it took forever waiting for the other side to arrive. The elevator would not tell you what floor you would arrive on. I have arthritis and could not walk the stairs. A nonsmoking room was ordered and we received a smoked stale smelling room, it was horrible. The cost for a pet doubled the price that was quoted. The blanket had hair on it and the pillows smelled. Looked like black mud that stained the carpet. The furniture in the room was torn and dirty. We spent four hundred dollars for accommodations. I would like a refund. We were told that a restaurant and bar was on the property that joined to the hotel but it looked closed down and never opened. Please look this hotel up. It looks good online, but make a visit there.

I have traveled across country and have NEVER had a worse experience than I had at the Econo Lodge in Ridgeland, SC. We checked in somewhere between 6:30 and 7 PM January 2, 2016. We went to eat then back to the room. I finally went to bed around 1 am. After about 2 hours I couldn't stand the itching anymore so I decided to take a shower to see if that would help. When I looked in the mirror I noticed several bites. One on my right arm, 2 on my left arm, 1 on my left finger, and 1 on my chest. After getting dressed I woke my husband and had him check my neck and sure enough there was another 1 right in the middle of the back of my neck. I told him we have to get out of here. I was so upset I threw my nightclothes out.

I went to the office while my husband was packing the car. The girl behind the desk was very sympathetic when I showed the bites to her. She called the manager who Sat down at the opposite side of the room and told me "Those are not bed bug bites". I replied whatever they are they are biting me and I want my money back. At that time he started raising his voice and said, "How do I know you didn't bring them in with you from Florida?" And accused me of wanting a free room. I was appalled with his response and told him I was not in Florida. He kept accusing me of bringing them in with me and his voice was getting louder and louder. I kept trying to tell him there were NO spots or itching before I went to bed.

He then yelled "Get the hell off my property!!!" By this time I was in tears. I told the girl behind the desk I wanted my money back and information to get in touch with the home office. Seeing me in tears the supposedly owner Sam ** continued yelling "Don't give her anything except her receipt!" And again yelled "Get the hell off my property!!!" After we left while still in tears I called the police. My advice to anyone reading this is, "If that is the last place on earth available, stay in your car!"

I reserved a room at the Econolodge in Orlando, Florida on 8700 S. Orange Blossom Trail. The online booking process was easy enough and they made sure to charge the credit card instantly. That is the full extent of the positive aspects of this experience. The client I had reserved the room for arrived and the hotel had no record of the reservation. I relinquished the confirmation number, and personnel at the hotel stated they still had no record of it and charged me with the task of calling Choice Hotels customer service.

After being on hold for over 25 minutes, I had a coworker search the internet for an alternate customer service phone number. He reached a Choice Hotels customer service representative who stated there was nothing he could do and that WE had to call the hotel back and ask them to call ANOTHER number to sync their computer system. He was unwilling to do this despite the fact that we were the paying customers. At this point, our client was at the hotel and had been waiting for nearly an hour and a half. After 36 minutes on hold, a technician finally answered the phone on the number I had originally been instructed to dial. I explained the problem and he said, and I quote "I have no technical skills whatsoever," and after some persuasion, offered to call the hotel himself to see if there was anything he could do to iron out the situation.

After 45 minutes of total hold time, the technician finally got back to me stating that everything had been ironed out and that it was merely an issue of the hotel not being used to the confirmation number provided. I strongly urge anyone who might have to deal with Choice Hotels to avoid doing so at all costs. Pay for a slightly more expensive hotel. If you can't afford one, sleep on a park bench or under a bridge. If (when) you experience issues, the onus to get them fixed will be placed entirely on you despite your being a paying customer. Businesses like this need to disappear. The fact that it motivated me to create an account on this site just to post a review should speak volumes. Save yourself. Run the other way screaming.

Economy Lodge Biltmore came up as a inexpensive and available room for an October weekend so I chose it, put all my info in and entered. It wasn't until the transaction was complete I noticed the date was for the same day, I was making the reservation on, which was last night, not my preferred future date and it was already 10:30 at night. I immediately tried to cancel but couldn't. I called Choice Hotels and was hung up on after about a 15-min. hold, called the hotel with no luck, called Choice Hotels back and after a long wait he told me I could talk to the general manager the next day.

To make this short, I was charged the full price of the room, and the clerk told me that was the no show charge, and I could only come stay in the next few days before the weekend to get credit. I work so can't do that so I will not be getting my money back or any credit and was also hung up on when I tried to ask about the site I made my reservations on. I can't say 100% for sure it wasn't a mistake on my part, but I have NEVER had this happen in all the years I've planned trips online until I came across these 2 hotels. So I paid money for nothing and the hotel earned money doing absolutely nothing. I am hoping this doesn't happen to anyone else so make sure you notice if the dates change on your itinerary page before completing your transaction. I wonder how many hotels have profited this way? I still need a room for October but will look elsewhere.

RE: Orbitz Booking Number ** / Hotel Confirmation **. I booked a three night stay at the Econolodge located at 491 E. Highway 76 in Anderson, Missouri. The period of the stay was September 4-7. Upon arrival we found the reception area unoccupied and waited approximately twenty minutes for anyone to arrive to check us in, this despite calling "0" (twice) as instructed by a sign on the counter, and calling the Asst. General Manager, **, whose business card was also on the counter. A young woman then came into the reception and said she was sorry for not be available and that we should have called "0" for assistance. I advised that we did, and she said "really, it never rang though." I suspect this is because she had the wireless phone with her and was talking to a friend while outside smoking. She was still on the phone when she returned to the counter.

We found the hotel clean and the accommodations were fine, but it is overpriced. On Saturday morning we left for the day and returned about 10:00 PM to find the room as we left it, bed unmade, towels in the bathroom floor, nothing cleaned. I called the front desk and they said they couldn't figure why it happened, but with it being a holiday weekend they had one person call out sick and the person covering her was six months pregnant and on light duty. I asked for clean towels and was told the hotel had a shortage of towels and that they had enough in the wash for two rooms, but they were already committed and I couldn't have them.

I travel most of the year and stay in a wide variety of hotels, some economical and some luxury. Seldom do I find a hotel where this sort of thing occurs. There is no evidence that management knows what is going on or that they promote quality. Some would say, "what do you expect, it's an Econolodge - you get what you pay for." I think that even though it is an economy brand it should be clean and well kept, and that customer service must still be a priority.

On Sunday morning before leaving I asked the front desk again to please ensure my room was cleaned and they said they would. The young woman was very helpful and apologized, said the hotel owners are aware they don't have enough towels and linens, but they won't buy more so they are always short. If this is the best they can do, they should be an independent facility and not chartered under the Econolodge brand. I paid $64.99 a night, which is on the high end for a hotel such as this. To be clear, it's not about the money; I often pay $175 to $250 a night for hotel rooms... and I don't accept the thought that you get what you pay for. Service can't be compromised because you pay less and a manager at Econolodge is no less accountable for managing their staff than they would be in a Hampton Inn.

Remote control for TV did not work in one of the rooms and she said she would send someone around to replace it which we knew was a lie because she never asked the room number. My daughters in-laws had to have their room switched due to dead ants not cleaned up in the first room they checked into!! This is unacceptable service from anywhere and there should be a way to hold them accountable for not providing services that have been paid for in advance!!

We had rooms reserved for the 19th and 20th of August in Urbandale, IA. Due to 8.5 inches of rain on the 18th and previous water problems in our basement we were not able to come to Urbandale. I called on the 19th to cancel - did not expect a refund for that night but was told no for the 20th. Why? It was 24 hours in advance and with the IA State Fair going on you would surely be able to fill it. Not getting refunded for the 20th (and due to circumstances beyond our control the 19th) did not make for very happy customers. Doubt if we will choose to stay at an Econolodge any time soon. People cannot believe that you refused to refund.

When I arrived (same lady I spoke with on the phone) said my total was 85.50. I hesitated however did not say anything because considering taxes, I added a child, time of check in etc. I asked for non-smoking cuz I don't smoke, my niece whom accompanied me was pregnant and neither does my 4 yr old grandson smoke. While my room smelled like smoke and dog. After complaining to front desk, she insisted that it was non-smoking and showed another room which smelled like smoke and a rotten **. I immediately asked for a refund. She said "NO REFUND" and showed me a third room; It smelled much better but now the ceiling is sagging down and there's mold!!!

My two daughter whom was there to assist with luggage and return to their new life at Georgia State dorm was furious at this point. My daughter use profane and stated "Oh yeah ** there will b a refund today." Amazingly the front desk clerk got just as ghetto. She told my daughter she bet she had been in many hotels. Suddenly I felt the need to call the police. When calling into the corporate office the two reps I spoke with was just as rude as she was. Can someone pls tell me what is this world coming to? Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. The run down room, broken hairdryer and clock weren't the biggest problems. Management's complete lack of concern for their guests was the real issue. We checked in late at night, obviously exhausted and road-weary. Before 8 a.m. we were awoken with a jolt, it sounded as though a tidal wave was about to come through the door. Garden hoses were hanging from the second floor balcony above us and dropping water several feet to the ground, making a horrible noise.

When we called to question this, we were told matter-of-factly that they were fixing the hot water and "oh yeah, you might not have hot water to shower, we might need to move you to another room." Then the tools and equipment started, complete with the beeping that happens when backing up, along with housekeeping banging on doors and shouting before 8:30 a.m. We called again, wanting a call back from the manager, we never received one. Why would they put us in this room when they knew there would be early morning construction overhead? Answer - because they already had our money! When confronted about all this, we were given less than an $8 refund and the manager just shrugged when asked if this was the right way to treat a customer. We had sought out an Econo Lodge because the Wilkes-Barre one had been so nice and comfortable. This one ISN'T!

We asked if they took AAA they told us no. They took our card and ran it and gave us the keys. We told them we would be back at midnight. When we came to our room 112 at midnight there was another couple there. My husband told them it was our room. They said no way it was their's. He went to the front desk and told them someone was in our room.

The person at the desk told him he was not in the computer and it was not our room. He pull out the card key that was given to use after they ran the card that morning at 11:30. They did manage to find us a room (which after being told there were no vacancies). We reluctantly took it because of the time of night. I found out they advertise AAA - did not get the discount. Was not the only person told there was only one room available as well as another couple that was charged $45 for their granddaughter even though it said no cost for an extra person.

I checked into the Econolodge Inn at 3608 Kahn Drive, Lumberton, North Carolina at approximately 11:30 am on August 14th. While at the front desk, the young lady (desk clerk) paused from assigning me my room and began yelling to a male (unknown if the person was an employee or not). After assigning my room and locating same, I noted that the hallway leading to my room appeared to have a foul musty smell similar to a mildew odor.

Entering my room I noted immediately that there was no place to place my luggage, but on my bed as there was no luggage stand. When examining the restroom I noted that the toilet paper roll on the dispenser and was almost depleted with no replacement roll(s) available in the room. There was a wash cloth draped over the shower head from the previous occupant. There was no iron board available (I obtained this from a housekeeper while in the hallway). There was an iron on the floor underneath the closet area, with the cord uncoiled.

The full length mirror was filthy, there were holes in the curtains and the bedspread covering my bed was torn with the stuffing coming out and cigarette burn holes in it. The freezer portion of the refrigerator had approximately one inch of ice caked on it and the lower portion didn't cool my soft drinks that I placed in it. There was no courtesy coffee pot for the coffee maker, nor was there a courtesy laundry bag. The A/C did not work properly. The swimming pool was emptied (which I was not advised of by the clerk when I checked in) and observation of the pool area itself was filthy.

The day of my departure, August 15th when taking a shower, I noted that there were two earwigs (insects) in the tub. The toilet constantly ran after flushing. I must admit, I did not bring any of this to the management of the hotel, as my stay was short and I did not think that another room assignment would change anything. This will be my last visit to this hotel!

We had our family reunion in North Carolina this year. I searched motels/hotels and came up with the Econolodge as it was only a 20-minute drive to my grandfather's house. The lobby is gorgeous and welcoming. I expected the same to be true for my rooms (223 and 231). My room was totally disgusting. One of the box springs on one of the beds was totally busted and I kept hitting my leg on the metal bed frame as it protruded out! You can imagine how bruised and sore my leg was and still is! My only regret was that I did not take pictures!

My daughter's room was missing the refrigerator and microwave so I was greeted with interruptions to use mine! They told her they would change her room to accommodate her use of a microwave and refrigerator but that never happened. There was a mishap in the swimming pool but they could not find anyone to come out and clean it so the pool remained closed all day Sunday (8/9/2015). There was nothing for the children left to do, but to run around and play causing the rest of my stay to continue to annoy me! I was only too happy to turn in my room keys and sign off and leave! Both the gentlemen who checked me in and the one who checked me out were both pleasant!

Arrived at 2905 Parkway in Pigeon Forge on August 5th about 2:00 pm to be assigned room 139. This was not a room overlooking the river that we requested through Hotels.com. Manager stated the reservation came through for a regular room. Manager gave us room 118 that was overlooking the river and stated she would charge my card $30 for the upgrade, I was fine with that. The room was not clean. I told her that's fine we will just go to the pool for a while. After approximately 1 1/2 hours, our room still was not cleaned. My husband inquired and the manager stated that the rooms with reservations are being cleaned first. Keep in mind that we had a guaranteed reservation. The manager told him that we could leave if we did not like it. This was the first rude remark.

We were on vacation with our grandson and at this point leaving was not an option. My father and his wife had just arrived also. They made reservations to visit with us. We waited longer for our room to be available. At 9:30 pm my 10 year old grandson was in the bathroom and the ceiling started leaking. Within a few minutes the ceiling caved in and RAW SEWAGE came flowing from the ceiling. We reported this right away. We also had family in another room 122 that did witness these events. We got a very disgruntled apology from the night shift gentleman and I requested a refund. He grumpily told me that I would have to talk to someone in the morning. He did move us to another room but, no tourist should ever have to encounter these unsanitary conditions.

The next morning I asked the manager for a refund for the disgusting interference in our stay. She flat out refused to give me a refund stating that we were moved to another room and she did not charge my credit card the $30 for the upgrade in a 7 hour period we were in three different rooms. Not wanting to ruin the vacation we had planned for our grandson we reluctantly stayed there for the next two days. I left my cards with the manager before 9:00 am on Saturday August 8th. Upon leaving, I told her she was a sorry ass excuse for a manager and to remember my face because I would be making a lot of noise about this horrible situation.

After arriving home I called Econolodge and asked the manager for a refund for Wednesday night and she said she was not obliged to give me a refund and I would have to talk to the General Manager. This infuriated me even more because I feel like to GM should already know about RAW SEWAGE flowing into our room. I should not have to go through this process to get a refund and an apology. Now I not only want my refund for one night, I want a total refund. If she is the example of management that Econolodge chooses you really need to make some changes. I am also making complaints to about 22 other agencies and departments if I cannot get this resolved. At this point, I will NEVER use an Econologde or Hotels.com EVER again.

The only good thing I can say is that we had a fantastic view. The hotel was very run down and old.

Our room floor was damp upon arrival and stayed that way. The vent on the air conditioner was disgusting. We had to sleep with the balcony door open the entire time to keep fresh air circulating. The elevator smelled horrible. We saw only one roach, but we all know that there never is just one. Overall I will not stay here again. I will not recommend it to others. The lady who checked us in was very rude. The only reason we stayed was because my son loved the view and he just wanted to get to the water/ocean. I asked to get clean sheets. Never received them. Went and got my own from the front desk and had to change them myself.

Was told I'd receive my military discount. That never happened. Absolutely anything that could have been wrong was. The worst customer service I have ever dealt with. On July 17, 2015 my son and I checked into the Econo Lodge in Wisconsin Dells (we had a reservation). They checked us in and charged my card, when we got to our room it was filthy and had not been cleaned from prior departure. We called front desk to ask for another room. They said they were full and had no other rooms and they stated they would come up and clean the room. We told them we were leaving and that's fine to come in and clean it. When we came back after 9 pm and the room hadn't been touched so we called again. They stated they would be up to clean it, never showed up until 1 am. When they knocked on the door to clean the room, we were sleeping in the chair. We demanded our money back and they said they would comp our room for the problem. Then on 7/18/15 we had the same problem with them NOT cleaning our room and they told us to leave.

We said we had another night reserved and they said they cancelled our reservation. At 4 pm while we were showering and getting ready to vacate because of the service someone came into our room and stated they had rented this room and why were we in it... During the whole time of the problem with them NOT cleaning the room and calling back and forth from the front desk they were being rude and said to leave or they were going to call the cops have us thrown us out. I called the customer relations office to complain and waited on hold for someone to answer for over 35 minutes then when someone answered the lady listened to my complaint and put me on hold to call the hotel to get our room taken care of and in the meantime is when the our room was resold to someone else.

While on hold for her to come back the call was disconnected so I immediately called back and got the recording that I was calling the office after closing and to call back when the office is opened... I have made a BBB complaint and the hotel came back with a statement that WE cancelled our reservation and had a DND on our door for NO housekeeping and that their employees are very respectful etc. NOT the case. They barely speak English and are rude to customers. The hotel was not worth what they charged. The hotel refuses to refund my money and that is what I am looking for aside from filing a formal complaint with you. Thank you.

I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Arlington Tx since March 19th up to a couple of days ago. I have stayed in many hotels but this one is by far the worst. First of all the customer service is horrible, and the manager shows not to care much either. I had my daughter's dog stay with me for a couple days so I gave the pet deposit and everything was fine till the manager came to my room and told me I had to get rid of the dog or move out because dogs were not allowed, when policy says pets allowed with a deposit. I was upset but I got rid of him like he said. After that I noticed that whenever we would leave and no one would be home, when I would get home the manager would come search my room, stating that the housekeeper saw the dog and each time, again he never saw the dog there.

The whole time I stayed there not once did housekeeper clean my room, so they had no business in my room.

Throughout the whole time they kept moving me rooms till the last two is when I had enough and moved out. The reason was because they had bedbugs. I told the manager and he didn't seem to care too much so I just moved out. The day that I was moving according to the manager I had a balance that was owed and he was going to lock me out and not let me get my stuff till I paid, so in two days later I came to pay but when I got to the room, my room had been flip upside down and my stuff had been searched and some of my stuff was missing. There was no forced entry or unlocked windows so the only people with a key were people from the office. I complained to the manager and his response was for us to call it even for what I owed. It was pretty obvious he knew who had gone through my room but didn't care because the same employees are still there, so please do yourself a favor and do not stay here.

Look behind the curtains, found a dried up chicken bone, a bottle of kids' medicine, piece of candy and gum stuck to the floor. I call manager, nothing he could do he said. Econo Lodge Biltmore - Ashville, NC DOES NOT MEET HEALTH CODE. I have a formal written complaint that I have sent to Guest Relations, The General Manager as well as Public Relations. I am completely unhappy with the results. I am legally disabled and got sick with my 13 year old traveling back from her USA gymnastics competition and was forced to find a room in the middle of the night. I became completely incapacitated and could not change rooms. I found cocaine, mesh from a crack pipe, mold in the fridge, a baggy containing a pot stem, a pot seed, as well as a pill on the floor. The phone was completely dirty as well as dust covering the head boards. The padlock was broken and the phone was broken. I was charged $125.00 to stay from 4 am on a Sunday until 11 am the following day which was Monday.

The woman working that day was overly rude to not only me but my 13 year old daughter and caretaker as well. All I asked for was my refund for $125.00 as well as proof that upper management was making sure that EVERY room was brought up to health code standards. That was too much to ask apparently so now I am having to choose other routes to resolve this matter.

Upon checking in we found our reservation had been changed and the price we were going to pay was different. We requested the manager, because the poor girl working the front desk was completely clueless. The manager barely said two words to us and didn't acknowledge the issues. He fixed the issue but didn't apologize for the inconvenience or issues. When we got up to the room it wasn't very clean, just felt gross. Around 6 am our neighbor was playing the TV extremely loudly. I called to complain but it took them almost 30 minutes to handle anything. Overall I was very disappointed in my experience considering every trip I've taken to this hotel has always been pleasant.

Then later they charged me $150 for burns on the bedding. I told the manager we didn't even use one of the beds and he didn't care. He just stated that he believed his staff. I was super sick during this stay, having bronchitis in the middle of a trip and didn't get out of bed other than to shower and leave. I know there were no burns on any of the bedding as I was right there. I am not the customer who damages property because I'm not looking to lay extra money to anyone. I do not believe their staff and my overall experience was a joke. I have never been treated so poorly by a hotel I have frequented numerous times and swear to never visit this establishment again.

On 2/22/15 my family booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at the Econo Lodge in Cayce, SC while we were waiting to move to our new home. On the first night we had bumps on our arms and my grandmother found a bed bug on her. We had been packing and moving all day and had children with us, it was very late at night when we found it so we just decided to cut all the lights on and stay until the next day since we had already payed for 2 nights. The next day I called the office and told them what happened and they would not give a refund, only move us to the other side of the hotel, assuring us they were cleaner.

My husband and I decided to upgrade our room to a jacuzzi suite and the man charged us an additional $40. Check out is at 11am and we were running late the next day trying to decide if we should pay for another night or try to find a new hotel since we were still waiting on our home. The owner came to our door around 11:20am rushing us to come pay now or leave and I had not had time to find a new hotel so we decided to go pay since our non smoking jacuzzi room was nice. When we went to the office to pay the owner still had an attitude, he told us it would be $109 for another night in the suite which was much higher than what the man the night before charged. The owner also told us that we had been smoking in the room so he would have to put us in a smoking suite.

We have a 2 yr old and a newborn. We do not smoke in a room with them or around them and the owner had not came into our room so there's no way he could have smelled anything. I also asked him about a sign on his desk from Choice hotels that said if you stay 2 nights you can get your 3rd night free. He cut me off when asking him about the offer and told my husband to leave our key in the old room and to go move our stuff to the new room right now. After we left the office and went to move our stuff to the new room the owner kept walking by our room looking inside just to be nosy.

We are now in the smoking suite which I payed over $100 for and it smells HORRIBLE!! I do not want my children in this nasty place and cannot get anyone to help me with my complaint or give me a refund for 1 night. I called the office and a guy at the desk spoke to me and I asked him if there was another person I could call over the hotel or someone above the man I had dealt with and he was also very unhelpful and told me no. I've never known an "owner" to treat customers like that especially when we have been paying for two rooms for 3 nights.

I told the staff they did nothing about it and didn't try to do anything about it. So I called the police and reported it to the police. The officer ** with Richardson police told me this hotel is know for heavy prostitution and drug users. I was dumbfounded having no idea why the creep was knocking on my hotel door. I spoke through the door "you have the wrong door." 15 minutes later the pervert came back knocking on my door, at that point I called the police again and made a second report. I am a single mom of 2 staying here by myself. I paid my own money to stay here and it's more like staying in a deserted wooden area than a civilized hotel. Econo Lodge in yakima washington: I think I am being as fair as is reasonably required, given the circumstances, I came to live at this motel quite by accident if you will. I was literally homeless after the home that my daughter and her family and I were living in, and were in the process of buying, had a severe problem with the septic tank in any case.

My worst encounter came when I paid a week in advance one afternoon, the following morning, went into the office for a cup of coffee and the front desk person asked if I was staying, "another day" I said, and he said, "you must pay now for another day." I informed him that I had paid the day before for a week. He said they had no record of it. I told him I had given the manager at the time the money (cash). I told him, the person said he would bring me the receipt later as he was busy. The person behind the counter said, the people had left the night before and taken some cash from the register, and because I could not produce a receipt, I had to pay again. I asked him to advise the owner to see what he was going to do about it. They decided not to do anything but told me, I must pay again. Well I finally did pay after a few hours.

The second was when the staff decided it was ok to allow someone to enter my room, and take every bit of my belongings, including some very expensive collector plates I had recently purchased, along with a lot of personal hygiene never used. Also new, still tagged clothing that I had purchased for my grandson and daughter. This occurred while I was away for a couple of days. My room had been paid in advance for that week and I had expressly given them instructions that no one be allowed in my room.

When I returned, I went to enter my room and my key did not work. I thought maybe it needed to be rekeyed, so I went to the office, the lady at the desk informed me that my "niece" had come and told them I was not returning, and was told to come get my things. Which was news to me, as was the fact that I had a niece in Yakima. I asked this "niece's" name. The lady said she didn't know, I asked "did you ask for id, did you make a copy of it and did you have written instructions to allow her to do that." She said "no, I just assumed you had told her to come so I let her in." I asked to see the video from the surveillance cameras and she said, "oh we erase those every morning and besides, it would take to long to find it." and shrugged it off, as though she was not concerned about the fact that I had not just lost all my possessions, which I believe had the value of anywhere from $3800-4000. Not including the plates, which incidentally had the value of $700-800 each. And then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't rent there again.

I asked her, by this time quite irritated, to call the owner. She did and told him what had happened, to which he promptly replied to give me my key plus lower my rate to $50 a night. And the final straw on the proverbial camels back, was the elderly man whom was hired to take care of the front desk, as well as other parts of the motel decided he liked me and would make me his "girlfriend". I was reasonably polite to him and he would continuously make sexual innuendos. I told him I was not amused and asked him on more than one occasion to stop his crass remarks and he continued. He would tell anyone, and other people told me that he would make disgusting remarks about the things he would do to me in bed, which were total lies as I had never been anywhere near his bed. And if his personal hygiene were any indicator and his housekeeping habits in the front office, I would not even be anywhere closer to him than the distance I kept him, at that was the width of the counter.

Then one day, I did not have the money right at the time they requested it, which was quite some time before check out time, and I was told that I had to move out because I was late. If you looked at my bill, I am never late and my balance is always at zero. So in conclusion, I would like to advise your company to have someone find out the goings on of all the people involved with this motel, including the owners who are also doing illegal and immoral things in this motel. Before your company gets itself into quite a legal dispute and wind up losing not only this, but all of the other motels you may have.

This is so when I wake up in the am I can put in microwave and have wonderful cup of coffee. I finish it before I take the 7 am shuttle. Only this driver Sheldon does not want to let me on van with my coffee which has a lid and I am not drinking. He has established his own rules with management and the only driver who enforces it. As a good customer I expect that he can exercise good judgement and realize it's not like I am drinking and eating. Sometimes I bring food to take to room and he also does not allow that. This hotel does not offer food so I bring my own. He has taken his power to the extreme and I am the only one he does this too. Being a good customer sometimes has to take precedent over his rules. I understand people not eating a bowl of cereal on the van but all I AM DOING IS CARRYING IT WITH ME. I LOVE THIS HOTEL AND EVERYONE ON THE STAFF. Nowhere does it say in any of their commercials that you have to be a member of anything... it just states: Stay 2 separate nights and receive a free night. This is false advertisement because nowhere in the commercial does it say that you have to be a registered member of anything. This is definitely a bait and switch scam. Do you know that I called 15 different phone numbers only to be given the brush off? False advertising is illegal and if I can't get one lousy night after I spent all that money then I guess it is time to go to the B.B.B. and demanding a refund or sue them for the false advertisement. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, will you contact me at **. It is time to stop letting false ads think we will them get away with it. I am pissed as well as we all should be. Well, I wrote a letter to Craig ** (Econo Lodge) and Alexandra ** (Choice Hotels) to complain and to request a refund. On July 4 my husband and I checked into the econo and stayed until 8-9-13. During the month's stay the internet was down. The manager said it was my computer. I paid 2x to have my system cleaned and then learned that it was their network after all that had caused so many problems with my computer. I cleaned my own room, washed my owned sheets, towels and had to personally buy wash clothes because they refused to clean my room after 2pm cause they weren't a full service hotel according to owner Pete Patel - general manager. My husband worked night shift and this was the reason for me wanting room cleaned after 2pm. I spent my own money washing and drying their linens so we could have clean towels sheets etc.

The night clerk Mike opened 2 separate accounts under my name and thought it to be funny he was cheating me out of my points. When finding this out took what I thought was the proper steps. Going through Choice customer relations they told me within 72hrs if he did not contact me they would take care of the matter.. He did not email or call me and told them he had done so.. They then called him and requested for him to call me. He never did. Finally I called the hotel myself and listen to this man cuss and scream and over talk me for 7mins and 39secs. I tried explaining to him why I had filed the complaint which is what Choice told me to do. They said it was up to me to deal with the manager.

I tried and after telling him that I felt he owed me 1,293.96 he said I owed him money cause my dog messed up his motel room.. This was a lie and if that had been the case why did he rent room out the night I checked out. Besides that this is why I paid a pet fee weekly which was 50 a week. So every two weeks I was paying 1,002.00 for nothing and Choice told me the only thing they could do is give me a free night's stay.. Ha don't think so.. I was taken advantage of and feel that he should pay me this amount. I was there for 1 month and 5 days.. and was never late on paying what I owed and I have had nothing but problems with this hotel...

Who do you contact about privately owned hotels because someone should be held responsible for his errors since he won't take responsibility for his own actions.. He's already had another motel he owns closed down because of health and safety hazards and I will not stop until this is resolved.. This is wrong and someone should have to make it right.

We got there at 12 something and he said that they were cleaning the rooms. We had a senior citizen/veteran. We asked if we can get a senior discount. He did not know what we were talking about. We asked for non-smoking and a downstairs hotel because we don't smoke and we had a senior with us that is disabled. We had this room booked for a week and they said they had an upstairs room available and it was smoking. We have three people with us that have breathing problems...

Well, so we get back and our hotel was gross. We took pictures I can email to you. But someone's hair clip was still in the bathroom in the soap holder, stains in the carpet, no knobs on the a/c, toilet was not clean and one lamp had no light bulb. We paid for two queen beds and we got two full beds. The icebox was broken, no shelves in it, pen marks on the walls. The tub was gross. It has a mat that looked like sandpaper just thrown in there so you won't slip and under it, the tub was stained. Then there was a note that said, "Our bathroom facilities were built to San Antonio water conservation codes. Due to less water usage. Please dispose all paper and other hygiene products in the trash receptacle. Thank you." And there were guys drinking in the parking lot. I will just email the pictures to you. Can't upload them.

We checked into the Econo Lodge in Groton, CT. The front desk clerk was very friendly and accommodating. We got to our room which was one of their "Suites". There were empty bottles all over the kitchenette counters, cigarette butts and ashes; the bathroom toilet didn't flush (we arrived to the back of the toilet cover being on the toilet seat). We had 4 guests. The room had a pull-out sofa bed. We expected to at least have sheets on it, but it didn't. We pulled it out and it was NASTY. There was marijuana scattered on the mattress, along with dirt and garbage. I went to the front desk to make them aware of the mess, and there was a different employee there at that time, in the process of checking in other guests.

He left those guests at the desk alone and followed me up to our room, and had Housekeeping come in to clean up the mess, and make the bed, etc., and then the front desk clerk left leaving the maid who couldn't speak English. She brought us 2 flat sheets, and one pillow and threw them on the bed, took the bottles and cigarette butts and left. She didn't clean the bed, or make it and nothing was done about the toilet. We had to clean and make our own bed. There were only towels for 2 guests, so we again called the front desk. They promised to make sure while we were out to dinner they would correct the problems.

So we returned to our room really late, around 1 am and found they had only fixed the toilet and bathroom sink (which was leaking all over the floor also), and we had to go to the front desk at 1 am to get our own pillows and towels for the additional guests. The following morning, I informed the "manager" of the problems, and he completely ignored us! WE WILL NEVER STAY AT ECONO LODGE AGAIN!

Forget using this motel if you are hell bent on taking care of medical conditions needing hot water... the "Cold Water Lodge" just can't provide "HOT WATER"... period. Motel 6 and 8 are nearby... I checked into this hotel at 5819 Northampton Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA on 05/10/2013, with plans of celebrating mother's day weekend. I requested a non-smoking room as I am chronic asthmatic and travel with a nebulizer machine. The room they put me in had smells of fresh smoke and ashes in the toilet. I complained to front desk to be told that that was the only non-smoking room available. They moved me to a smoking room, which at the moment seemed better than the last. Shortly after, the lingering of smoke begin to affect my asthma and I had to take several treatments. I called Choice Privileges customer relations and complained.

They called the front desk because they saw in the computer that they had more non-smoking rooms available. I was then moved to the 3rd floor to a non-smoking room. The room seemed cleaner, newer and fresh smelling. The problem is I had to walk up to the floor, pass broken pieces of wood and other dangerously placed construction items. The entire 2nd and 3rd floor was being worked on. I tried to just make the best of it as my planned dinner and breakfast reservations were set.

Through the night I kept feeling as if something was biting me. I had itchy bumps and kept breaking out in hives. I continuously had to take Benadryl. The morning of mother's day, I awoke to my daughter screaming. She said that she felt something pinch her. She looked at it and it was a bug. Upon closer observation, I realized it was a bed bug! I tried calling the front desk and the phone kept ringing out. I captured the bug and in tears took it to the front desk clerk. I was given $70.00 cash credit and was told that I would have to speak to management for the rest of my money back. Instead of going with my family to our mother's day breakfast, I had to (for a 3rd time) pack up my stuff.

I checked out and checked into a new hotel where I had to leave my belongings outside until I washed everything in hot water temperature. No car so I had to walk to the stores for detergent and all. Upon my return home (New York), I contacted the hotel. The end result is management was not willing to resolve the issue. I was requesting my entire stay refunded and my expenses due to their negligence.

I was part of a group bowling in the Senior’s State Tournament. We had four rooms booked under a **. We were there on Friday night, the 5th of April, and we departed on the 7th of April; that’s two nights. On both nights, there was partying going on all night long. People were running up and down the halls howling. After the first night, I talked to the front desk, and they said that they were aware of it and that those people will not be allowed to stay there again.

The next night, people were partying in their room across the hall from my room with the door wide open. I finally called down to the front desk and told them about it, and if they did not anything about it I was calling the police. They shut the door, but continued partying most of the night. The walls are so thin you could hear everything. I had no sleep that night either. The next morning, when I got ready to leave, there was human spit on my window shield. I complained to the front desk with no satisfaction. I will never stay at an Econolodge ever again. I do travel a lot.

Econolodge 4635 Keiser Ave Osceola, AK - I checked in to the Econolodge at about 6:30PM on Dec. 5th, 2012 room **. The room was substandard and dated, but I was tired from driving 12 hours so I stayed and went to sleep. At about 3:30AM, I awoke to burning sensation on my skin. When I examined it, there were red bites on me. Bed bugs! I jumped up and went into the bathroom wanting to shower to get them off me and when I turned on the light, I noticed the entire back wall and ceiling was covered in black mold. I looked for a phone to call the front desk and realized there was no phone. I walked to the office and explained to the desk clerk the condition of the room and showed her the bites on me. She followed me to the room and examined it and apologized, saying she had not been aware of the condition of the room.

As I gathered my things to leave the room, she went back to the desk. When I got back to the desk after placing my things in the car, she said she had called the owner and the owner said to give me half the money back for the trouble. She obviously told him of the condition or he wouldn't have offered the half. I stated I should have gotten a full refund considering I would have to get another room to sleep and shower in. She offered me another room and against my better judgment, I took the key. After examining the room she offered me, I declined and told her I would accept the half of the money instead of staying in the second room - which was smelly and dirty, with a huge dead roach on the floor. She took my card and said she was refunding me $32.00. I left and found a Clean Days Inn, which I stayed until checkout the next day.

I want to point out that I do not see well at night, so in no way did I want to drive before the sun's up the next day. I had stopped because it was dark and I was tired. When I checked my card charges 2 days later, they had charged me $96.00 and credited me the $32.00. So I was still charged the full $64.00 for the room. They lied to me about refunding my money. I called the establishment and spoke with the manager twice. She said she was waiting to get confirmation of my charges from their credit processor because her records state that they only charged me $32.00. I offered to send her my credit card statement and she refused it. A week later, after no refund, I posted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau hoping they could help me get the $32.00 they had promised to refund. The response from the motel was that I was belligerent and demanded all my money back; and after the general manager inspected the room, they found no bed bugs and just a little mold on the tub. Wow! I was never belligerent.

The clerk was quite nice and helpful, and very apologetic. The reply also states that because I had stayed 9 hours in the room, I didn't deserve any money back. Really? I guess the bed bugs should have bitten me earlier and I shouldn't have minded a little mold on the tub and jumped right in. That place is a dump and should be closed down. They lied about refunding my money and I still have bed bug bite marks on my skin. Someone needs to investigate this place and condemn it!

When I checked in the very substandard motel, they asked for my credit card also (I thought to have on file in case there were additional complaints). Not so, they charged me also, so I have now paid $140.00 for a room at an Econo Lodge. I have made repeated attempts to have the additional charge refunded, but I have been unsuccessful. No one can, or will, help me. I get shuffled from person to person and am told "The person you need to talk to will be in work tomorrow." When I asked for the name of that person, I was told "We are not allowed to give out names." Huh? Extremely dissatisfied with everything about Choice Hotels' lack of response to my complaint. Tried to file a complaint through the form on their page, and all I get is a message "You must fill in all areas outlined in red." Would do that if there were any areas outlined in red. If I would have attempted to keep that black bag in my SUV, my medications would have been destroyed and the cameras might have been affected. When I checked the black bag at check-in, two credit cards were gone and two cameras as well.

A policeman came and took the report, reviewed the surveillance video available and said that whoever took the property was smart enough to duck under the camera; however, the bag was left unattended and in full view of the public. The manager on third shift was kind enough to refund all my money for the two days' stay but I am still missing the cameras valued at about $700. I will never stay in a motel again, only 5-star hotels with real valet service. I am not suggesting that an employee stole them, only that the bag was left unattended as evident in their video.

Receptionist/desk clerk lady, very rude/horrible - In September 2011, my friend was very sick and decided to stay at the Econo Lodge on Ben Franklin Highway in Douglassville. He didn't tell anyone what his plans were, but he went there to overdose and he succeeded. At the current time he and his wife (also my friend) were going through a divorce or separation of sorts. This all leads up to my main point.

My friend’s wife (who is also sick herself) lives up the road in an apartment complex. Their building was struck by lightning and caught on fire. So everyone was evacuated. She was sent to the hospital and had fluid in her lungs. Later, she was discharged from the hospital and needed a place to stay. The Econo Lodge was the closest to her home.

Upon her arrival, the receptionist said I know who you are, you are the guy’s wife that killed himself here. She proceeded to tell my friend how her husband had no right to kill himself there, and then stated that my friend owed her money for the police breaking down the door. She then told my friend that she had no other rooms left and that she would have to stay in the room where her husband killed himself in. Talk about the humanity.

In the morning, my friend asked her if she could please use the telephone, because her cell phone was dead. She was unable to get the charger the night before because no one could let her into her apartment building because it was quarantined off. The receptionist would not let her use the phone, my friend has COPD and emphysema, my friend then had to walk 10 miles back to her home. Very disgusted that woman should be ashamed of herself.

I would have had no problem doing the plunging. The lady at the front desk said, ''Uh, I don't have one. I did have one but not now. You will have to wait until tomorrow.'' I told her the toilet water was filled up to the top and we would have no bathroom all night. It was an awful smell, of course. She then said, "Well, I don't know. I don't have one." Now, she could have offered us another room or our money for that night back so we could have gone someplace else. She did nothing and we had to stay in an awful smelling room to the point it made us sick. With a toilet filled to the top with dirty water, we had to wait until the next day to go the the convenient store to use the bathroom. We will not be staying there again. This was uncalled for and I feel we should have gotten part of our money back.

My girlfriend and I checked into the Hagerstown, MD Econolodge (MD114) Room 319 on March 12, 2012. I was in town for a legal hearing regarding my father's estate. The place was dingy. Late that evening, I discovered an insect I believed to be a bedbug. Later, I saw two or three more. Since the hour was late, we stripped the bed and slept on the mattress. There was also an extension cord powering the refrigerator, microwave, and refrigerator from one outlet--a violation of national electrical and fire codes. (I'm a retired fire instructor. )

The next morning, I went to the breakfast nook. I informed the manager about the bedbugs, and he said, "That's impossible. We don't have bedbugs here." He challenged me to catch one and bring it down for him to see.

I was in the breakfast nook alone. The TV was set on a "news" channel that I find extremely offensive. I could not control the volume or channel, so after awhile, I pulled the plug. When someone entered, I plugged it back in. This happened three times. The manager came in and told me not to do that anymore, that he was required by "corporate" to have a news channel on, and that his night manager saw me pull the plug when other guests were in the room. I said that anytime there were guests, the TV was on. He said, "Are you calling my night manager a liar?" in a very aggressive way. I asked him to put on another channel and I would promise to leave it alone and he did.

Then, I started my laptop and read my email. After that, I began looking at Web sites and playing some music videos. There was no one in the room and the volume was very, very low. The manager entered and said, "We provide the entertainment here, not you. Shut this off. I've decided to evict you. Have your belongings out by 11:00 AM. If not, they will be piled outside." I told him that I'd never heard of such a restriction in 30 years of business travel. He repeated his order. After explaining that I had a meeting in 15 minutes that would take all day, I convinced him to rescind his order.

As I left for my meeting, I suggested to him that these rules be posted so that all would know them and obey. He sarcastically said "Where have you seen them posted in any other hotel? " I said "Nowhere, because I can't think of anywhere that has such rules. " He said "OK, you're out and this time I won't change my mind" He threatened to call the police, even though my behavior was assertive but not disorderly, and no other guests were present. Fortunately, my girlfriend was able to move us to another competing hotel where our stay was thoroughly pleasant.

I filed a complaint about the extension cord with the Hagerstown Fire Department. No response yet. I complained to Econolodge's web site, and apparently it went straight back to the manager. I got a very nasty e-mail from him banning me from this hotel for life. He need not worry. Nor will I stay at any Choice hotel again.

I think Econo-lodge has switched it's marketing thrust toward coroprate users that block out large numbers of rooms for transient employees. (construction workers, truckers, railroaders, etc. ) After working 12+ hours, these forks just want to "crash" and are not too particular about the conditions since they will just leave as soon as they wake up. This is guaranteed income wint few complaints for Econolodge, since the employees have no choice but to stay where employers direct. There were 12 or 14 construction workers from Mobile, AL there who would be there for three months.

I booked this hotel through AAA to visit a friend, thought it would be okay for 3 nights- wrong! On Thursday, we checked in. The girl at the front desk, Judy, seemed nice and had us paid and room keyed in 5 minutes. Upon entering the room, the carpet's old, stale smell was outrageous.

My friend's comforter also had white stains on top of it. The bathroom was okay aside from a brown-yellowish stain in the tub floor and a hole punched in the back of the door. On Friday night, I was dyeing my hair when I saw something crawling into my friend's luggage. I thought it was harmless but called the front desk for assistance anyway. The clerk that answered was the same one who checked us in. She told me they never had a problem before and that she was currently checking someone in and would be there ASAP.

She arrived 15 minutes later and I told her I saw the bug crawling in and figured it was still inside the suitcase. She asked, "So, what do you want to do?". What do you mean?! She suggested bug spray from the front desk and went back to grab it (you would think she would have brought it with the first time). We sprayed the critter and came to find out, it was a roach. I've never seen them so I wasn't sure but my friends confirmed that. If there is one, there are more. Probably in the walls and ceilings of this place.

While my friends were gathering our stuff, I called the front desk again. A different woman, Cynthia, answered the phone and I told her it was a roach and I refuse to stay. She offered a change of room but why the hell would I?! She also tried to convince me that they were the only hotel with open rooms and that it was a "water roach" and they have them here when it gets wet. I am not a fool - it is a cockroach and it was never wet as in rainy or snowy the week prior to or during my stay here.

Needless to say, I found another hotel in OKC, Howard Johnson on South Meridian. So much cleaner I spent the extra and stay somewhere else. The manager, Bob" **, is extremely rude and unprofessional, as well.
