Since contacting Bluegreen in March to voluntarily relinquish our timeshare ownership, we have faced a refusal to cancel the contract, with a representative named Christie stating there are "no options for cancelling" and requiring us to resell the property ourselves to cover the outstanding loan before a title transfer can be processed. Bluegreen refuses to accept their own property back, instead forcing their own clients to act as sales agents by reselling the timeshare to another poor soul on their behalf.

I am writing to file a complaint and share how much we have been hurt by the things Bluegreen told us that turned out not to be true. When we bought our timeshare, we were told it was an investment that would go up in value. They said it would be something good to leave to our children. This was not true. Instead of a gift, this is a bill that our children will be forced to pay for the rest of their lives.

They also told us our yearly fees would not go up. We started out paying just a few hundred dollars, but now that bill has jumped to over $4,000.00 every year. We simply cannot afford this. On top of the high cost, the "points" we own don't go as far as they used to. Everything costs more points now, so we can't go to as many places as we were promised. Even when we try to go somewhere, we can't find a room. Most places are fully booked nearly a year in advance. For the $4,000.00 we pay in fees, we could stay almost anywhere we wanted without all these rules and problems.

The biggest issue is that we are physically unable to use this. My husband is a Vietnam veteran who is now 100% disabled from his time in the service. He has very bad health problems from Agent Orange, including diabetes, heart issues, and breathing problems. He has had open heart surgery and has poor circulation in his legs. He has lost feeling in his feet and hands, and his vision is failing. He cannot walk more than the short distance from our house to our car. I also have heart problems and cannot walk long distances. We were sold something based on lies. We are being charged thousands of dollars for a vacation we cannot take and that our health will not allow. We are asking for your help to get us out of this.

Bluegreen Vacations Club has engaged in deceptive sales practices and a total lack of transparency. We bought our first contract in 2015 and were convinced to upgrade in 2019 under the impression that the service would be easy to use. The sales representatives assured us that we could book any location at any time. This has proven to be false. Every time we attempt to schedule a stay we are told that the dates are unavailable or that we are trying to book too far in advance. Additionally the company often refuses to allow stays for less than a full week which does not fit our schedule. Since our upgrade in 2019, we have not been able to use the property at all.

Beyond the lack of availability, the maintenance fees were never fully disclosed and have increased to an unmanageable level. Because we are currently behind on these fees, the company has blocked us from using the timeshare entirely yet they continue to charge us for a service we cannot access. When we spoke with a representative named Jennifer she was dismissive of our concerns. We told her that we have raised these issues many times before but she claimed there was nothing the company could do. Jennifer mentioned that the company would eventually cancel our ownership due to non payment, but refused to provide a specific timeline or any formal process. Essentially asking us to sit on our hands and wait for them to make a decision on when to release us. We have attempted to resolve this through formal correspondence requesting a full termination of our ownership to ensure this liability is not passed on to our children.

Honestly, signing up for a Bluegreen timeshare was a terrible mistake, it's a financial nightmare for my family. We thought we were getting an upgrade to make great memories, but it's just buried us under crazy maintenance fees, surprise charges, and a mountain of debt. Right now, we're juggling a personal loan, a bigger mortgage, and two high-fee credit cards, all thanks to this timeshare. And the worst part? We can't even use the thing because booking anything is an absolute mess. We even tried switching our points to Choice Hotels just to find a deal, but it didn't fix the real problem.

Trying to get out has been the most frustrating experience. We've been trying to cancel since February 2024, but Bluegreen keeps stonewalling us and rejecting our requests. Keshia ** finally confirmed one contract was closed, which was a relief, but now we're stuck with a second one and no end in sight. They're still trying to get us to make payments, even though they know we're in the middle of canceling. It feels like they're just dragging their feet while attempting to drain our bank account. This whole ordeal has been incredibly stressful and has really messed with us. We would warn anyone to think twice before getting involved. All we want is a fair resolution and for this last contract to be closed immediately, so we can finally move on with our lives, but they will not let go.

After multiple attempts to get a straight answer from Bluegreen, we finally spoke with someone who simply repeated the contract and said cancellation “isn’t how they work” and there was nothing they could do. When we pushed for real options, the call ended with their rep, John, saying “then I guess we are done talking” before hanging up. This comes after prior outreach that went completely unanswered. We’re not asking for the runaround or another sales pitch, just a real solution to a situation that no longer fits our lives. Instead, we’ve been met with silence, deflection, and now outright dismissal.

My name is Candi ** and I am eighty three years old. I have worked my entire life to stay out of debt and keep my head above water for my family. I feel so much shame and have been having many sleepless nights because I feel like I am on a sinking ship with this timeshare. When I was sold this plan, I was kept in a presentation all day long. I told them over and over that I did not think I could afford it, but they kept pressuring me to sign the deal. They knew how much I love my family and they used that against me by saying this would be a wonderful legacy for them.

The truth is that I cannot even use what I am paying for. Most of the resorts are across the country and I am at an age where I simply cannot travel that far anymore. When I did try to book a stay, I was told I did not have enough points and that it would cost even more money. They also gave me a free cruise that ended up costing me a lot of money out of my own pocket. I was misled about how high the fees would be and now my daughter is stuck in this contract with me, which breaks my heart.

I contacted Bluegreen in February to ask for a termination. I spoke with Carlito who gave me options for resale or title transfer, but those do not seem fair since this is their inventory and they should be the ones to handle it. He also mentioned a non payment charge off after six months, but I do not feel I can trust this company to keep their word while I just sit and wait. I also spoke with a man named Marcia in the collections department. He tried to get me to pay partial amounts or add debt to the end of the contract, but I told him I truly cannot afford these payments anymore. I feel I was taken advantage of because of my age and my love for my family. I need help to be released from this agreement so I can finally have some peace.

I am beyond frustrated with my experience with Bluegreen Vacations Club. I purchased a timeshare in Nov 2024, and it has been nothing but a financial disaster and a series of broken promises. During the sales meeting, I felt completely pressured and lied to about how the point system works, the actual availability of resorts, and the constantly increasing maintenance fees. It feels like they just wanted to make a sale and didn’t care about the truth, which is incredibly dishonest. To make matters worse, my work hours were recently cut, making these payments even more of a burden, yet I can’t even use the service as I was told I would be able to. I have tried reaching out multiple times to resolve this.

Jennifer ** was nice but ultimately couldn't help me. I was also supposed to hear from Jamarr in the Customer Care department, but he never called me back. I’ve left messages and tried calling him myself, but it has been total silence. It is so disrespectful of my time to be ignored when I am facing such a serious issue. I’ve already attempted to speak with people at both Bluegreen and Pinnacle with no luck. I am sharing this review because people need to know how Bluegreen operates once you sign up with them and are stuck.

We walked into a Cabellas to just look around. Saw a Blue-green vacations booth, tried to avoid it but got suckered in to listening to what they had to say. You pay 199 bucks for a 4 day, 3 night stay at a Hilton hotel. You'll recieve a gift card for Cabellas of $100 and a visa gift card for $100. Making our stay free, basically. We were told we wouldn't get free breakfast if we added a 5th person to our stay. So we took away the free breakfast because we wanted to go with 5 people. Come to find out, breakfast was already free. We got to the hotel and it was free for everyone. So why did the rep tell us it wasn't. Who knows. We ended up just going with our daughter. So just 3 of us.

We were told by the rep that we would have to only endure a 2 hour tour for this package. We agreed. It all sounded so nice and worth it. We were also told we could go swimming at their resort, play mini golf and do everything the resort had to offer aside from the lazy river. THAT WAS A LIE. We got to this resort for the 2 hour tour, and during this tour, we had to listen to their sales pitch. It was nice at first. Sounded too good to be true. They wanted almost 50k for this!! Oh, and you only had that day to purchase the package.

So if you left. You'll never get a chance again to purchase their amazing deal. (Which it wasn't, trust me). Then you get a short tour with a rep. Then they sit you down in a big office building area with cubicles and start to try and sell this once-in-a-lifetime package with you. Don't fall for it. You don't budge, so then they bring in a manager. Who is aggressive. And tries to cut the package in half. 30k and 6k points instead of 12k points. Or pay 10k for 3k points.

If you pay close attention, there is maintenance fees of around 1500 a year you're stuck paying even after you pay off this huge amount! Red flag. You'll always be paying into this. They don't care about you. They just want your money. We told them we can't buy into anything without doing our research first. We wanted other people's opinions. The manager aggressively said, "Well I'm a timeshare holder, what do you want to know?" Like no. We want unbiased opinions. They then say, we can cut the maintenance fees in half for just 6 months. Umm no. Then their last effort was to trap you into a 1500 purchase for 2k points where you could use at specific locations only. And it'll let you have a year to decide if you want to purchase a timeshare with them. Don't fall for that either. There has got to be hidden fees in there.

These people just want your money. Their attitude and demeanor changed when we weren't budging. We were too smart to know this was not a great deal. And the fact you have to decide there. They don't give you any chance to talk or anything. Also, I saw their mic was actively recording our conversation at this desk. Didn't matter. We spoke the truth. They act like this is the best thing ever when in reality, if you're not wealthy, this is setting you up for a financial burden. To top it off, the rep who sold us this package said we would be able to enjoy this resort was either not informed or lied. We couldn't do a single thing at this resort after the tour. The only thing she didn't lie about was the gift cards. What a waste of a 6-hour drive trip. We didn't have anything planned that weekend. We thought we would be enjoying a resort. Needless to say, do not fall for this trap. Do your research.

We are submitting this to your office with a profound sense of defeat and exhaustion. As an older couple, we were misguided and lied to about the Bluegreen Vacations Club, and for two years, we have been held captive. The refusal to release us has had a devastating effect on our financial, physical, and emotional well-being, seriously impeding our quality of life in our golden years.

Our hardship is severe: I suffered a debilitating stroke last summer, requiring a three-week hospital stay, and we were unable to properly recover or grieve following my wife's mother's difficult passing before Christmas. We are constantly burdened. We tried to sell in 2021 through Pinnacle with no success. The only exit offered in March 2025 was another financial drain: pay an exit fee, plus 18 months of maintenance fees and the remaining loan balance.

A representative then threatened that if we stop payments, we face 5-10 years in collections. I’ve had to work double time just to stay afloat. We have exhausted all other avenues and desperately need your authority to intervene. To demonstrate our complete loss of faith, we have already notified the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), the Florida Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the Military Consumer Protection Division (as a veteran). Our single request is to be released from this agreement so we can focus on our health, family, and limited retirement resources. We implore you to help us finally be free of this destructive obligation.

My wife and I are writing to express our deep frustration and disappointment with our experience as Bluegreen Vacations owners. What started as a family vacation using my brother's points turned into a decade-long financial nightmare due to the high-pressure sales tactics we encountered. During our initial meeting in June 2015, the "one-hour" presentation turned into a marathon session. We felt cornered by persistent representatives who used extreme pressure, insisting the offer was a "today-only" deal. They focused entirely on the fun of vacations while hiding the reality of how much maintenance fees would skyrocket over time.

To date, we have invested so much into this package. We even had to take out a home equity loan just to pay off the initial cost. Now that we are preparing for retirement and on a fixed income, the rising annual fees have become a massive burden.

The "flexibility" we were promised doesn't exist. Even when we try to plan far in advance, availability is extremely limited. We later found out the company doesn't even own all the rooms in some locations, which they didn't mention when they were selling us the points. Essentially, our points are worth less every year, while the bill for them keeps going up. When we reached out to Bluegreen directly for help getting out of our contracts they completely brushed us off. They offered no real solutions and just told us to try listing it with a third-party company. We want to end this contract so our family isn't stuck inheriting a debt they don't want and can't afford. This has become a liability, not an asset.
