I did a lot of online research, and the salesman from Olympia that I talked to seemed very nice. He helped me get things when I needed it. I called him up, and he seemed like he took a personal interest in my ordering from the planning all the way to delivery. He was very thorough. I pursued the steel storage units with Olympia. The cost and quality are very good. We had a delay, and Olympia didn’t really waste a lot of time. The rep got his boss involved and they got to the bottom of it to get our metal to us when we needed it. I’d tell my friends to definitely purchase from them. We’re actually in the process now of purchasing another piece of land so we can order another building from them.

Olympia's reps are fantastic. We're still doing a 40 x 60 building with Olympia. The cost is a little much, and some of the stuff's not threading on right. Also, the truck driver was terrible. He couldn't back up the trailer. It's hilarious. But the building was delivered in one load. It wasn't that bad. Olympia should maybe hire a crew. It's a lot of work.

The quality of steel from Olympia is great, but their customer service is lacking. They don’t call people back. The first time I called, there was supposed to be an insulation. I called back to get it. And then, when we got our shipment, we didn’t know the insulation came at a different shipment. Nobody even told us that. It’d be nice to know that instead of calling and spending two days on the phone. Other than that, it's a great building.

I started working for a company that built their buildings with Olympia for about 13 years ago. And I’ve been in contact and worked on and off with them for the last 14 years. They’re good buildings. We actually built buildings and we built several different kinds, but theirs is right up there with the top-three that we enjoyed building. Their reps have also been very cordial, very professional and good to work with. When I’ve reached out to them or needed to call them they’ve always got right back to me. It’s been good working with them.

I purchased a storage building from Olympia and dealing with their sales reps was very good, easy and quick. Everything was on time and right when it was supposed to be scheduled. Also, the cost looks good in relation with its quality. I haven’t had a chance to put the building up but once I get my building permit, I'll be ready to go.

I looked online and saw Olympia Steel Buildings' ad and those of other different places. I called Olympia and talked to Stewart. He was very helpful and though Olympia's billing was a bit more expensive than the other provider, because of Stewart being so helpful, I chose to go with Olympia. While we haven't erected our building yet, the quality of work has been excellent thus far.

I needed a wide span for a club that we use for a recreational building. Olympia Buildings had a good price and I went with them. The cost was a little high but it was accessible. For the most part, their reps were fine. However, we ran into a small problem, and when I had a small problem, I heard crickets. They were nowhere to be found. No engineers. No salespeople. We solved the problem on our own but I was a little bit disappointed. Still, their buildings are of really high quality which I like.

Olympia Steel Buildings is the best. I’m a builder and an erector and their customer service makes them the best. The customer service is top-notch. I bought a bunch of buildings off of them. We put those buildings up for churches and horse races. I put them up in Texas, Indiana and all over the place. The overall quality is very good. That was a story. We put up roof braces for the fire, and we put up several braces in a couple of years. And Olympia is a good business to deal with. You’re gonna get something messed up on them every now and then but they're really good about getting stuff back out to you and making it right. The way the rack goes together, there's a lot of forethought engineering into it. It’s a good product.

Olympia's communication and straightforwardness were the biggest things why I went with them. They do what they say they were going to do, and they do it on time. My biggest complaint with other companies is getting people on the phone. It's very uncomforting. So, what Olympia does is they respond. They return phone calls and they answer the phone. Then they do some things with their product that you don't have to ask for, too. You get more top-of-the-line type accessories with the building. With other companies, you have to pay extra for those, and if you don't ask for it, you don't get it. I'm a contractor and I've pursued building projects with them that are like straight wall buildings like we've used for airplane hangars and warehouses -- anything from small garages to large warehousing and manufacturing facilities. The quality of their steel is as good or better than any other companies out there. The cost is excellent, too.

I was doing a lot of research online and Olympia seemed to have the best quality product. They were also willing to work with me on different things. I ended up doing a did a 30x50x16 steel building with Olympia. I got a 14x14 door and two 10x10s and went with the four-inch insulation. Purchasing through Olympia was easy-going. We didn’t have to play much phone tag. They always answered the phone and were able to send me to the different departments if I had questions on different things.

Luckily, I really didn’t need any financing, so that helped things along pretty well. Everyone was very helpful and informative and made the process pretty easy. The building was pretty much as expected. I also went around and saw a couple of the buildings locally that was with them, so I had an idea of what it was going to be. The process of putting it up wasn’t too bad, too. There wasn’t a whole lot of extra work involved. It’s a good quality product, and I’ll probably end up getting a second one in the next couple of years. I’ve also recommended Olympia to a few friends that are going to be doing projects this year.

Olympia gave me the price that I needed but the sales representative was very much a used car salesman. He gave me numbers and changed them. He gave me colors and changed them as well. In fact, the building isn't the color he told me it was gonna be. Luckily, I like it. It’s dark green with light trim. But it was supposed to be Sahara tan with a chocolate trim. It’s gonna be a workshop barn type of thing and at first, it seemed like a good building but the plans were a little more confusing. I was really confused and my builder was confused as well. But we eventually got it up and I appreciate it, like the thing that went into the seam. I found that’s to help keep it watertight. We had our first rain and it kept all the water out. So that was good news. The quality of the steel seems good so far. If friends and family ask me about Olympia, they are welcome to come look at the building. I would them it’s great and that it should work.

I had contractors working but no steel showing up. It sucks as far as getting it. I thought they were extremely busy. They are behind the schedule and we are four weeks past what they said. We were supposed to get insulation for the ceiling, the roof, and we never did get the insulation. They ended up crediting me the money. Even so, I would not go with them again.

I just got 55 acres in West Virginia and I’m building a fabrication warehouse. I run a company that does big commercial fabric buildings. Sometimes we have custom pieces that go into these buildings. For instance, in the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium, they have these fabric funnels that funnel all the water into their drainage system. I make those custom funnels and similar pieces for the building that they can’t make in the Malaysian warehouse.

I went with Olympia because I like the building design that they had. Also, the guy that was working with me on my dimensions for the building had really good customer service. But I felt like that fell apart as far as the delivery. As soon as it went from the sales guys to the actual production and distribution part, it was kinda like they washed their hands off it. But that was not the case for me - not until the building is actually on the site. I had to make a lot of effort to contact them and be like, “Let’s make this happen." I asked when things were happening and as these things were happening, I was also trying to do stuff.

Once the initial payment was made, it felt like things were on the back burner. But it was cool. I knew that there were lots of stuff going on. The only real system that I wasn’t pleased with was the delivery system. We had a debacle trying to get me the building. They had some delivery date which was a three-week window in November. I came back to the country to make the delivery. I work remotely all over the world. I took time off work but they didn’t deliver and I had to go to work.

When they told me they have a three-week window for delivery, I told them that I do international construction. I know how this works and that they have a one-day delivery. We had our debacle and they didn’t show up. They made another delivery date for March and I was cool with that. I would be back in the country in March. I told them that they should make it happen at that time. The building showed up on March 5th.

I live in a really remote place in West Virginia. I had no expectation of them being able to get to the build site because that would just be ridiculous with a semi. I got the building and I unloaded everything in. I got to put it all down on its build site. But I've been very busy and I'm still out in California for another job right now. I haven’t had the opportunity to even check my packing list on the building that was sent to me. I’m a little concerned about that. Overall, I’m not displeased with my experience. And I can’t wait to see what the building looks like. I really hope that it all went super well because I know that by my contract, I needed to check everything within 30 days before letting them know if anything was wrong. That’s way out the window at this point.

Olympia has a really good product. The design and the materials are really good. And everything was galvanized. You look at the building, compare it to some of the others around in this area, which looks puny compared to what we got. The sales guy who sold me the building was great. He pushed me over. I would call him and he would get me in contact with the people I need to talk to. Because I was so anxious to get my building up, I kept buzzing him. He tried all he could, but he was limited to what he could do.

The only thing that I didn't like was that it took Olympia a long time to get the building to me because when I signed the first paperwork to get it delivered, it was supposed to be delivered last September, and I didn't get it until January. It put me behind because I had stuff that I was trying to move out of my old house into that building, so that way I could get that old house ready and sold. But I couldn't do that because I was waiting on my building to be built. There was also a lady rep I dealt with who would not return my calls. But, other than that, everything else is great. It is a good building and I'm happy with it now that it is up. The product itself makes up for the time that I lost not getting the building up.

Olympia Steel Buildings was willing to conform to the city's procurement rules. They weren’t the cheapest but they were the easiest. We have certain procedures that the state of Arizona requires us to follow. The industry is collect on delivery and we're not allowed to do that. We are building for business and this is the first one I’ve done with them. We haven’t constructed it yet but I've looked at everything because we had to check. It was there and everything appears to be in excellent working order and good quality. Laura, the rep, was very helpful and the shippers were excellent. I would recommend Olympia.

I had a good experience with Olympia Steel. On one of my trips to Ohio, I drove to Pennsylvania to Olympia Steel, and had a face-to-face with the vice president of the company and my rep. It was a pleasant meeting. She gave me a little extra because I worked with them on it and they worked with me. The rep worked with me on the building I'm putting up in Ohio. She constantly called me on it. She was very polite and very helpful. I unloaded the steel two weeks ago. We haven't been able to erect it yet because of the fact that they've had so much rain that I put everything behind and I didn't get the concrete worked on yet. I tried two others and one of them never called me back and the other was too expensive. Olympia's saleslady was very helpful. I liked her. When I called her for a question, she would answer it. Plus, she returned my calls. However, the truck driver from the trucking outfit they chose could not speak any English. He didn’t know anything. He didn’t know I was supposed to give him a check and I almost kept it. Plus, he knew nothing about the paperwork. But we had a wonderful time trying to unload the truck. As a matter of fact, I thought that I might have been scammed. I was wondering if I just wasted my money. But the building is on the ground at my house now. It took about five months to get the building to me. Olympia also tries to hold you to a certain timeframe. But I reached out and told them I haven't built it. And then his friend told him that we'd better get it this year because it would be more expensive next year. We had no idea who to go to to buy a steel building, but Olympia Steel Buildings was rated highly online. Their rep was great and very efficient. We ordered the building May of last year and it took 11 months to be delivered. My husband jumped the gun on ordering the building and it was originally supposed to be delivered last August, and there was no way in this world that we would’ve even been close to being ready for it. So, we were grateful that they were late. We’re just now getting started on our project. So, the building is basically a bundle sitting on the property. We closed it up in a tarp and waiting for all the permits and everything to go through.

I liked the way Olympia's buildings looked. And I settled on one that's 30 feet wide, 40 feet deep, and 12 feet walls. The quality of the building is really good. I'm happy with it. I shopped around, and I felt like this was a good deal. The salesman told me that him and two other people put up a building this size in a weekend. After about a month, I said, "Wrong answer, pal." Their blueprints aren't very clear. And the materials in the framework aren't marked very well. For example, the back wall, I built it, stood it up, took it down, rebuilt it, stood it up, took it down, and then rebuilt it and stood it up because the directions that the pieces needed to go aren't marked. It doesn't tell you what side of the girth needs to be facing the outside of the building or what needs to be facing up or down.

If they just stamped a couple arrows and then wrote the words "outside of building" on there, then it would have made things a whole lot easier. I was a do-it-yourselfer. I'm not a contractor. I have a friend that does this kind of work for a living. And he looked at it, and he said, "Yeah, this is what you're dealing with. They're giving you blueprints that a contractor that does this every day can read and understand. But an average, every day do-it-yourself kinda guy doesn't understand those blueprints." And I'm a machinist. I know how to read blueprints to a certain extent. I've never really looked at construction blueprints, but these weren't very clear. They probably built a lot of buildings and they sell them to contractors who put these things up every day. But they also sell them to people like me and their directions weren't clear enough for an average do-it-yourselfer.

On my garage doors, I told them I wanted 10 foot wide, 10 foot tall, and that was exactly what they gave me, and that was fine. On my walkthrough door, I told them I was putting in a standard 36-inch exterior door. But when the building got here, it wasn't explained to me that a standard door on a metal building is about 5 to 6 inches taller. So I had this 5-inch gap that I had to fill in. Overall, we got it all figured out and got the building put up. There was a little bit of frustration because of the blueprints. But other than that, it's up and I'm using it. It's watertight. I don't have any leaks. I'm satisfied with what I've got.

Also, they sent me parts that were stamped out in a machine shop on a press. And when I tried to install things, the holes didn't line up. I know exactly what went wrong. I called them and said, "You all need to go check the press. Something shifted, something's not right 'cause nothing's lining up the way it's supposed to be." They went and looked at it that day, called me back, and said I was right and that their die has moved. They would fix it and stamp out some new parts, and overnight them to me, and they did. I was happy about that part. Moreover, I've never had any issues when I called customer service and talked to their engineers about things. The people were always doing their best to be helpful.

Olympia was a great opportunity to get me a building at a good price, and get it shipped down here and put together. I just now opened my shop. There was some issues on some of the assembly. I had to call them back several times just to try to understand the diagrams and the drawings. I've got an Engineering degree but I and even my contractor that was assembling the building had a little trouble figuring out where these braces went. But the building went together really nicely. And it's a good looking building. I get a lot of compliments on it.

One thing that I didn't get a response on, and that I haven't followed up, is my window. I have four on each side, and a couple of them leaked when it rained hard and I need to find if there's an awning kit or how they seal them. I left a message for Olympia Steel but I never heard back. The building is nice but there's a few little issues that I need them to help me iron out like how to stop the water leaks around the windows. It's not a matter of putting caulk in the windows. It needs some sort of flashing or something so the rain doesn't hit the top of window and run back behind the wall paneling and down in the insulation and come into the building on the floor. Other than that, the galvanized beams went together.

There could have been better instructions on how to lift the big A-frames because they actually flex in the middle where the two pieces come together. I've seen it caused them to bend. And once we got them erected, then we had to put ropes in a chain in the come-along to pull the bend out so we could square up the building.

As for the cost, I got this at a discounted price because another customer had not taken possession of the building, and they were kinda in the warehouse. So I got a good discount on it. And it was easy to get it shipped down here. But I have issues with the instructions, and I made probably a half dozen calls back to them. I also have these little water issues. I can go to a local company if I wanna put some awning on these windows. But I think Olympia Steel had these issues before. So what do they recommend?

I was looking for a steel building and I got a quote from Olympia and from others. And I chose to purchase from them an out building for a residential property in the back. The quality of the steel Olympia has looks good. But I haven’t gotten it up yet. I’m still working on the foundation. I dealt with a phone representative from Olympia and I got a bunch of quotes on buildings that I was looking at. They had an I-beam building, then, they had channel steel building. And I thought I was working with an I-beam building, and I ended up purchasing a C-channel steel building. Not by my choice, but by their choice. I thought I was dealing with an I-beam instead of a C-channel beam.

I’m very dissatisfied with the sales representative. He wasn’t as thorough, and I dealt with them through two and a half months. And apparently, I thought he was on the same track as I was. And all the ads show an I-beam. And then, I ended up with a channel steel building. So, I had a little discrepancy about it. I paid 30% down payment, and I tried to renegotiate. I saw it was a channel building, and they would not work with me. So, they were misrepresenting. Since I signed a contract, they weren’t willing to do anything except negotiate with my credit card company. And they said flat out, “If you don't want it, you’re stuck with the 30% down payment,” which they said it was engineering drawings. And engineering drawings are only like $500. And these are just to set up plans for the building that came with the assembly. So, I was not too happy with the salespeople at the Olympia Building.

If you go on their website, they show you the buildings, and then, they have prices and some clearances. And I thought they were all the same. I got a 25-foot by 55-foot building, 12 feet ball. I thought it was an I-beam, but I didn't see any plannings and pictures. When the contract came, they just showed a building like a kid from high school drew. It was really poor. And I just thought I got screwed. But I accepted it because I didn't want them to keep $4,500 of my money, so I paid the $10,000 for the building.

Olympia's rep, Pat, was the only one who responded to me. I put a bunch of feelers out there about six months prior to Pat getting a hold of me. I guess I was just a small DIY guy. Nobody wanted to bother with me. And he happened to call me, gave me some prices, and called me back to tell me they got some special deals. He was very upfront with me and very clear. If I had questions, he answered them. I’m fairly convinced he even answered his phone on some of his time off and personal time. So, he made sure that I was comfortable with the purchase.

I was most impressed that he was willing to communicate. He seemed genuinely interested in meeting whatever need I had. He’s a salesman, I get that, but for the most part I was just a small, single DIY guy. He was still willing to help, answer questions, and talk me through things. So, I felt like he was interested in making sure that I was getting something that I wanted more than just making a sale on his end. I’ve never bought a steel building before. I had never been through that experience. So, I was just on the internet putting out feelers to different companies. And I felt comfortable with the price with the size of the building that he was giving us. He was upfront on communication, and I never had any wonders as far as what we were getting, when we were getting it, and what to do to get it. He was top-notch on communication.

I used Olympia for a personal garage and hobby shop. Unfortunately, I only have about half of it up. I bought it over a year ago, but I wasn’t able to have all the money to get the cement down in place. And so, I’ve got half of it up with only half the cement done. But the quality that I see at this point, I don’t really have anything else to compare to it. It’s exactly what we were expecting. I'd recommend Olympia to a friend. In fact, I’ve already recommended two neighbors that are in the process of buying buildings from Olympia.

He wasn't really letting me off the phone so I ended up just doing it. The product has good quality and I'm happy with it. Just the customer service wasn't very great. I had a hard time getting answers off things. Also, the delivery of my building was a huge change because I didn't get an answer on when it was gonna be delivered. I ended up having to take a day off and rent an expensive machine. They also didn't tell me that I had to unload it myself. There wasn't much information given on that part so it made it a lot tougher than it had to be.

We are very sorry that you were not 100% satisfied with your experience with Olympia Steel Buildings. When I reached out to you shortly after your building delivered you did not mention any of this. The conversation we had made me assume you were very happy and there were no issues at all. As far as your concerns stated here, your contract stated in the first paragraph a forklift was necessary to unload your building, we also sent you a letter (a few days later) with your contract stating you needed a forklift and finally when you signed your booking letter it stated it as well.

Your signed a booking letter accepting a delivery window and we were in touch with you prior with an exact date. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us.

Olympia is a bigger company, and they've been building buildings for a while. I got a good price when we bought the building and decided to do a little maintenance so I got a better deal because of it. I'd gone on the website, looked at a building and asked for quote information and they called me on a weekend and asked me what I was looking at and the initial part didn’t take too long. Then they handed the salesperson and after we did the initial down and signing of paperwork, they handed me off to a delivery supervisor. They coordinated and made sure you have all the colors you want to have from the roof and the siding and all the parts. And then there's a delivery person after that that schedules the delivery that called to set up the time.

I asked for a delay with Olympia because the building got held for several months. They were on a truck for a week, and the truck driver called me quite a few times to let me know where they were and estimated if they were on time or not. The people at Olympia were really helpful upfront and they made sure all the add-ons I wanted were included. They also sent me some preliminary information. It went really smooth. They weren’t as expensive as other places but when I compared it with Pole Building, it was right in the ballpark. The steel is good. It looks like it's been brake-formed properly, and it's good material. There weren’t a bunch of scratches on them, and it was oiled.

I was looking at different companies on the internet and trying to get the best price. Olympia's the only steel building. I’ve been doing commercial all the time but mostly wood framing. And this would be the third time I’ve dealt with Olympia. I had an okay experience. We use Olympia for a church, a commercial warehouse space, and an electrical company. So far, the quality of the buildings is good. After I started dealing with Olympia, I found out I could have gotten some better deals from a price standpoint. The other thing was they had a lot of things that they don't talk you through on. So, when you get to building, you're missing stuff because they're trying to upsell you. And I didn't like that about them.

There should be stuff that should be included when you're ordering a building. I’m a little bit new to the metal building, so we’re starting doing more of them. But they didn't talk me through a lot of the stuff that I should have known like gutters and insulation. And so, I get my building, and none of that stuff is with it. I was supposed to have gotten certain things. There was no insulation, no gutter, no trimming gutter, and no downspout. The rep called me and told me they had a building that somebody didn't get, and they had a good deal on it, and come to find out that was lie. She failed on her job to let me know that I wasn’t getting certain things because I just assumed that everything came with the building. So, they bait you in with a low price, and once you bought the building and put the down payment down, you find out you’re not getting what you thought you were getting.

Also, the delivery was terribly long. I waited four months for one building. And another building, I waited almost five months. And a couple of them, about four months, and one, about five. Talking to other steel companies, it’s not the normal wait time. Other than that, I was satisfied with the quality of the building. But in expectations of the salesman and getting what I thought I was getting, I’m disappointed.

I was disappointed in the contact after the sale though. Prior to the sale, they called all the time, and sent greeting cards. But after the sale, it was very difficult to get answers from them. I had a couple of unreturned calls and I was unable to get a date on delivery. It took four months on the delivery for my building, and I was very disappointed with that. Olympia Steel stole $7,500 and has cost us many thousands more because of their business practices. I highly recommend finding another company. Their contract is so they can take your money and there is no guarantee you will get anything for it. We needed a building so we could empty our home and get it on the market. The new building was to become our new home and storage. We had a timeline but gave them DOUBLE the cushion to get it done. If they had processed our order instead of just taking our money, perhaps this review wouldn't exist. But they took our money and likes to say that we "changed" our floor plan causing them to have delays. We ordered Friday and increased the size on Monday. So their "claims" are totally wrong and they are just trying to find excuses.

In the end, we are 6 months out, they still have our money. We've had to put a ton of money into other options for building because they delayed us so long other steel companies had full schedules and orders. Their contract even says their delays which result in costs to you, they don't care about. They will delay enough to have you ask for a refund where they can happily offer you HALF of your refund for them not doing anything. I'm really shocked a business can do this. Someday they will do it to a lawyer or a judge and I'm sure they will be punished enough with punitive damages that they won't do it again. Until then, it's the responsibility of consumers like myself to take the hit to inform others not to use this company. I'll relay the entire situation and interactions below. Bottom line is you need to find an actual manufacturer, Olympia Steel (AKA Universal Steel) are middlemen.

On Friday, April 13, 2018 we contacted Olympia Steel to discuss what to do about getting a building made. There were things we were unsure of, like cost comparisons between a 55’ and 50’ building. We were told that the steel prices change daily and that we should lock in the price THAT day and that they would get us the price information and we could make the decision. This decision was made the NEXT business day they gave us the information (Monday, April 16, 2018). Don made a new contract based on the specifications. Our contract was for a June, 2018 delivery.

Contact was made often to try to get specifics on pricing for insulation and other options for the building and to check on progress and to get engineering so we could submit for a building permit. May 1st, 2018 we were still trying to get the company to give us information, our email stated: “We got the color chart but we don't have the information or plan to figure out the options for porch roof, vents and windows and all of that. Can you please work with us to get this all figured out. Thank you.” Vic responded asking for the location of windows again and we sent that out. Weeks later we had not heard anything back from the company so we started making more calls and sending more emails. May 8th we had still not heard back from them regarding the building plans and we emailed them again.

Don sent another email talking about other upgrades and purchases that we could make on the building. May 9th I sent a letter to him stating “We were told we would get that information and have not. We can’t make decisions without options.” May 10th, 2018 Don emails: “Your drawings are almost completed, once they are and sent out we will get in touch with you and Jared and we will go over accessories with you including vents, awnings and other options that you might want to add to the building."

May 22, 2018 After not receiving anything and a phone call with a promise it would be sent by 9am the next day and wasn’t, I emailed back to Don. “It's now almost been another 2 weeks. We need to make sure the drawings are correct with the openings. All these delays make me worried you won't be delivering mid July as agreed on which is required with the timeline of our house being sold. Can you please get us the preliminary drawing so we can confirm the openings for windows and doors and confirm we are still on schedule. Thank you."

We received zero response from Don. After another week, we sent an email on May 29, 2018 letting Olympia Steel know we were upset with the lies and delays. Rj ** replied promptly on May 30, 2018. We set up a conference call as I was out of town the next week so that we could get this settled right away. A conference call was set for June 5, 2018. Moments before the call I got an email from RJ requesting a meeting delay, which I agreed to. I said call anytime. RJ spoke to my husband Jared and told him that the order had been sitting on a desk since April. Nothing had been done. Engineering did not begin as promised. The manufacturers were not contacted to get timing on the building. June 12th we finally had enough and agreed to RJ’s offer for a full refund due to these complete failures of our order being processed at all.

We were handed off to Arthur **, Senior Administrator. He spoke with us on the phone and said the company had “dropped the ball” and that “heads would roll.” I said that was his business but that we wanted our refund because we needed to find a company that would be honorable and work with us and care about our business. He happily said he would give us “HALF” of our deposit. He said he didn’t have to give us all of it because the contract stated they could take a reasonable amount of time past the June delivery date and that date had not passed. I asked if I had to take them to small claims court to get my money back and he was thrilled to tell me “You would have to do that in Pennsylvania and I don’t think you want to do that.” June 17, 2018 We finally get an email explaining they were just beginning to work on our project.

Over the next 5 days Arthur contacted the manufacturers they work with and could not get a building with a delivery date guaranteed before the end of August 2018. Because of this he finally agreed to give us our money back – but there was a CATCH. Olympia sends out a contract to get your money back which removes your Civil Liberties and Constitutional rights using the First Amendment freedom of speech! It's no wonder I could not find a ton of terrible reviews, they put a GAG on everyone if they want their money back! I told them I would sign the other stuff releasing them from further obligation in exchange for our refund but we were told our refund “offer” expired shortly and we were told by Arthur to sign or we get nothing. They will take your money and keep it until you agree to give up your rights to leave reviews about their terrible business practices.

This company stole our money and kept it for months promising a building and then held it hostage in exchange for giving up our constitutional First Amendment rights. We still do NOT have our money. We tried contacting VISA and Olympia lied to the bank and said that we constantly changed our plans, which we did NOT. They stole our money almost 6 months and we have no building. We were promised a refund only after giving up our civil liberties, which we will not do. We paid for a product and did not get the product and require a refund. They offered the refund, it should not require giving up Constitutional rights.

We aren’t people who have $7,500 to spare so we need to fight to get it back. But I also don’t believe in stealing someone’s money and then requiring them to say nothing to anyone about it and someone needs to stop this company from screwing people over. I can't believe they are getting away with these business practices and still in business. Somehow they get bad reviews and reports off of BBB, I saw some before but they have disappeared, that’s how they are keeping their good standing and it shocks me.

Customer service is horrible! Only in it for the money! I read in another review where the customer was told of extra charges only AFTER the contract was signed. I had similar experience. I talked to Don about what I wanted in my building and was then trying to negotiate the price. He agreed to everything I asked for and then got back to me with a cheaper price. He DID NOT tell me that the price EXCLUDED some of the major things I needed most. I signed the contract without reading (totally my fault) because I trusted that the new price included everything Don and I had talked about earlier. When my building arrived it was a day late and at night which meant I had to rent a forklift for 2 days instead of 1 to unload.

When I finally got back in touch with Don (after many tries) about the things I was missing, he said he would see what he could do and then never returned my calls and even blocked his phone so I could not call him. Finally, after weeks of trying and faxing in a letter of complaint, I got in touch with a guy named RJ. I told him my story and explained how the fault was mine but that I wanted to see if he could help me any at all. He said he would see what he could do to help and that he would call me back later that day to let me know. He has not called me back.

Finally, I emailed them and told them I was gonna post a negative review and a girl from customer service called me back. I told her my story and told that at this point I just wanted to purchase the things that Don had left out in the original agreement. She said she would get a price on all of that and call me back. When she called back, she said she could not help me get the things I needed since they were not in the original contract (WHAT?). I don't know what kind of people these are but they do not want to help the customer have a good purchase experience at all. Don't waste your time! The only good thing I can say is the building is of good quality.

Talked with Paul. Gave huge deposit. Was told then all I needed was a concrete slab. Was told only after I signed contract that I needed to rent equipment to unload steel building. I was told anything with forks. Was told to sign a DocuSign contract that gives delivery date time frame. Blueprints were not sealed. Just a concrete slab turned out to be an engineer to seal the foundation from the blueprints. Initial estimate for the foundation was $4150 after modifications were made with additional re-bar paneling etc that an engineer would have to seal the total cost was $6400. Using a Bobcat with forks as suggested after researching top heaviness was a danger to myself and unloading the building I had to rent an industrial telehandler that would be able to safely support the load 6,000 lbs. All the fast-talking-slide-away-from-the-actual-facts presentation got old real quick and made me question their integrity and care for their customer.

When questions were asked they were 3/4 of the time diverted around without a direct answer provided. When I took the blueprints in to obtain a building permit after obtaining a land use permit, soil erosion waiver the building code department told me that no engineer would take responsibility for someones building and it was up to Olympia to seal the blueprints. Olympia is licensed in Michigan so why weren't they sealed before being sent to me? I was informed by three engineers that there would be additional charges from Olympia to seal the blueprints. Only after a statement that I would contact the attorney general of Michigan about this were the blueprints sealed only on the cover sheet and not every sheet. Thus the additional charges on the foundation from an engineer. I was told that there is a number to call anytime and in the erection process they would guide me through it and help would always be there when needed.

B.S.!!!! I have called nine times and received an answer three of those. If you don't have the amount of help to answer these calls and have one person doing the job of three or four then this is another area that is half-assed. You got my money so why would you want to simply help me when questions arise. The DocuSign really is a joke all in itself. It gave specific dates of when the building would arrive. I had to line up help upon the arrival of the building. People work and need to schedule their time off accordingly. I was told by the shipping department that the reasons, which were many, that they could not get my building to me sooner was because they were having a hard time finding a shipping company that would take the load and all shipping companies were delivering FEMA supplies to Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico after the hurricanes hit.

That is understandable to a minute degree but not every shipping company stopped delivering supplies around the country to places other than the three listed above. I followed their DocuSign crap to the tee and then when the over-promising and under-delivering was addressed I got the usual song and dance. I was told that it would be delivered late August to Early September. The building finally arrived on Halloween day. The blueprints and erection guide contradict one another frequently and the blueprints are not of high quality in explanation or professionalism. The engineer(s) that drew the blueprints up may be very proud of their work but common sense exudes that they really need to hone their drafting skills a lot better than what they think is professional.

On a brighter note the way that the building was wrapped and strapped for shipping was very well thought out. The box that the trim came in was very well sealed and the trim and such were wrapped nicely. The material of the steel components: paneling, beams, giriting and purlins themselves are very well manufactured and strong as stated. The nuts and bolts provided have structural integrity that impresses. So here it is the second week of December and the frame is up and after some variations needed in the construction the phase of rough inspection was approved. Being in a cold climate area with lots of snow the paneling and the roof will have to wait for a break in the weather. As in any other business it's success relies on their employees, training, follow-through and accountability.

I have 33 years in sales experience and am not just spouting off to hear myself talk. When a customer called me and voiced their concern on a situation I always thanked them and told them I don't know what I don't know. Hopefully this helps in smoother transactions for your future customers and provides better reviews. The only thing I was looking for was to be treated fairly using the term get a good deal. To me a good deal is a quality product, offered at a good price with great service after the sale. I'll let you decide what you'd like to address on the above items and hopefully it isn't in some generic computerized response. I don't want to read how sorry you are or what a valued customer I am because both have already been established through your actions.

First things first. Never told me that I had to rent a forklift to unload the building myself. Second they didn't send the trim with shipment. Expect you to rent a forklift again to unload. So that another $500 to rent again. So now that's $1000 to unload your building.

The experience was informative and enlightening. The work was done as scheduled and to expectations or above. Good quality product and excellent overall customer satisfaction. Installation and useful suggestions as to add ons and or other specifics were very valuable in the purchase process and throughout cold start usage of the brand. The product was definitely worth its weight as far as reliability goes. It could not have proven to be more. Withstanding all conditions and showing no wear and tear. With normal continuous usage I should well recover costs by far. The value was an immediate flag for purchase and should save money with other product protection.

Friendly employees and they answer all my questions promptly. If you ask them something that they aren't sure about, they will find out from someone who does and get back to you in a reasonable time. Very easy to do business with. They built my structure as promised and on time. The workmanship and material was more than adequate. Nothing exceptional, but everything was functional. The materials and workmanship was as advertised and promised. Everything was explained upfront so that there are no surprises at the end. The work was done promptly and efficiently. The price is a little higher than the competitors, but you get what you pay for. They never try to nickel and dime you or try and increase the price once the project starts.

They had a very friendly staff especially the customer service. You could tell they were smiling while talking to you. They were very polite and never even rushed the convo. They had so many services to choose from. They guided me through every step and gave me the pros and cons of each choice before I made it. They and their products are very reliable. I would definitely recommend them to any of my friends, family members, or colleagues. They definitely stand the test of time. Great value. You definitely get what you pay for and then some. It is hard to imagine this good of product quality for this low, low price. I was so shocked.

I am a licensed metal building contractor, with 18 years of experience. I want to share with you my experience with Olympia Steel/Universal Steel. My first building with Olympia came, was great! Right on time. Like Olympia said, with all building materials accounted for and in good condition. Josh was more than helpful. The second building from Olympia was a disaster!! The delivery was over 24 hrs late. The shipping manager had no idea where the delivery truck was located or how to contact him. Brian from shipping promised me a refund for the extra day of forklift rental. I have never heard back from him.

Shipment was missing the material checklist, assembly details, all Eave struts, C-channel for main support column, over 50 ft of base trim, jamb trim cut at insufficient lengths, Eave trim, and end caps. I have been lied to several times about when the missing building materials will arrive. I have been transferred from employee to employee. Poor customer service!

Purchased a building from Olympia, they had it delivered as promised. They also helped with recommending an experienced contractor who was great. There were issues with some of the structural components that extended to create the eaves. These did not fit. It was very fortunate that I had a very competent contractor as he had to modify the steel extensions. This cost additional time and therefore cost me additional money for the install. Not the end of the world as it did turn out and the building looks great.

What my major complaint is the very first winter it snowed. Yes I am located in a climate where it snows, and it snows every winter. I specifically raised the concern with my Olympia salesman about the eavestroughing and was told it is very rugged and it will not be an issue. I asked for a leaf guard option as this would secure the trough along the entire length and prevent snow from pounding into it when running off. Leaf guard was not offered by them I was informed and again reassured the trough will not have issues with snowshed.

First heavy (but normal) snowfall followed by a subsequent warmer sunny day. The snow run off my 12/12 pitch and ripped the troughing apart. I was informed by Olympia this was beyond their control and must have been an unusually heavy snow with lots of ice on the roof. Not the case. 18" of fresh snow, no ice at all. I think Olympia did not account for the 12/12 pitch in their design. A more typical flat pitch would not experience the same velocity when snow runs off. Subsequent snow falls have destroyed the remainder of the trough that was damaged initially. Olympia quoted me to purchase new trough but I refuse to pay for something I already paid for. Now my brand new building looks like crap with mangled metal hanging off of it. I can't believe their ad for the Canadian market actually states "made for Canadian winters!" Definitely not!
