How does SunScout work?
SunScout projects begin with a proposal. To get one, you’ll need to submit a current electric bill, information on your home’s roofing materials and some roof photos. This information can be submitted virtually in the initial process. After the proposal phase, SunScout completes a site check. Engineers visit your home to build out the requirements and mock up the final designs. Once you give approval, SunScout files permits and orders equipment for installation.
Installation can take as little as one day. After installation is complete, it can take one to four weeks to receive approval to operate from your utility provider. On the financial side, SunScout can help you determine if you should lease or purchase your solar panels outright. There are $0-down financing options available for purchasing and leasing.
How much does SunScout cost?
To get costs from SunScout, you need to request a proposal. This starts with you providing the company with your current electrical bill data, information about your home’s roofing materials and pictures of your roof.
As a general rule, solar panel systems for an average-size house in the U.S. (after solar tax credits) range from $11,144 to $14,696. There are several factors that affect cost — the panels are only a small part of the overall price. Labor, installation, project size, panel materials and tax incentives also affect cost. It’s important to note that solar panels are designed to lower your monthly energy bill, which helps you save money in the long run.
