Express Scripts has denied several of my very necessary medications. They ask for certain requirements to have the meds approved, requirements that my doctor and I have provided proof that I have met, and they still deny the meds. Without insurance, these meds cost me about $1,000 each for a month supply.

This pharmacy needs to get SHUT DOWN. I've been without DM medication several times for weeks since my employer switched to ES IN Jan. 2024. My A1C went from 7 to 10.9. They have made it very clear that they don't care. I wish my Employer would've done research before offering this pharmacy. I will be talking to my Employer about all issues with ES. ES should NEVER be a choice. Medications delays, not in stock, PA on the same medication that they approved months prior, you have to contact them for auto refills to get transferred several times to wait for 20-30 minutes... I can go on and on. ES is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. "I'm so sorry ma'am. Would you like to speak with our pharmacist about going without this medication?(Whatever verbiage)" I pretty sure everyone is aware of what happens when they don't take their medication.

Express Scripts (ES) is horrible. I am diabetic and called in a refill to my pharmacy. Got a text that it was ready on July 11 but was $363. I called the pharmacy to find out why and was told ES wasn’t paying for it. I called ES and was told that I had to start using their mail fill to get that med. why was I not told before? I shouldn’t have had to find out when I need it, I should have been told ahead of time so I could take care of it. I had to call my doctor and have him call in a 90 prescription because mail order only fills 90 days. I did that on July 12. Called on July 17 to check status and was told it would ship tomorrow. Didn’t get a notice of shipment during normal business the next day so I called back. I was told that it was out of stock. Why wasn’t I told that yesterday and more importantly why couldn’t I have just picked it up at my local pharmacy for what I had always paid?

I called back later on July 18 and spoke with someone who said they were a senior manager. She supposedly set it up as an emergency refill since now I was out. I had to call me doctor again and ask him to send a prescription back to my pharmacy to get filled. He did that and then the pharmacy called and said they can’t fill it because ES has it down that my last fill was on July 12 and that was the full that they had as out of stock. Called ES to have them reverse the claim and was put on hold and forgotten. So now my local pharmacy is out of it and ES is out of it and I have to go without my blood sugar medicine because ES wouldn’t pay for a prescription, held my prescription for a week and then sent me back to my local pharmacy who is now out of it. No fault of my own but now I don’t have my meds.

Horrible customer service. You must stay on top of them to get what you need. The app isn't the most user friendly. I transferred a prescription from Walgreens to E.S. I even called their customer service to let them know I needed both strengths to equal the amount I'm supposed to get. E.g., I'm to get 75 mcg, but the drug co. doesn't make this strength, so I get 25+50, so that's 2 different prescriptions. The lady left me on hold for 27 minutes to speak to the pharmacist to ensure I got both. Did I get both? Nope. Just the 25 mcg one. I called to let them know, and absolutely the tech took zero Accountability.

If I could give Zero stars I would. Express Scripts is a horrible company! Up until recently they have been ok. But this last prescription refill was a mess! I ordered over a week ago, I called after not seeing any updates on the app. I’m told them I was almost out. I was told it would be expedited due to it being a medication that needs refrigeration. I finally received the package today, the FedEx driver left it without ringing my doorbell and I never got notification it was delivered. It sat in my porch for hours.

Once I got home I checked it thankfully the cooler kept it cool (my area has a in the middle of extreme heat). I checked the medication and it was ok. One of the packages was damaged, it looked like someone stepped on it. I called and I was given the run around. I asked to speak to a manager and was transferred to another person who was also no help. I finally got that person to listen, the first lady I spoke to would not let me speak to tell her the issue. They are going to replace the damaged package but god only knows if and when it will happen. After this experience I will be speaking to the HR department and letting them know about this and I will no longer be ordering my medication through them. Stay away from express scripts, they are a horrible company. Reading the other reviews it seems like this is an issue they are not interested in correcting.

Where's the zero star button? This company is terrible. I need blood pressure medication and I am positive they actively work to make sure they can't possibly deliver it on time. I submitted my request two weeks before I ran out, my Dr. sent the refill request IMMEDIATELY and over 7 business days later they still haven't filled. I have two scripts for the same drug in different strengths, when the lower strength was filled 90 days ago I had to go through pharmacist review to get the prescription released to me.

Now less than 90 days later, we're going through the same review for the higher dose of the same drug. Then just to really tick me off, the refills on the smaller strength have now expired so when that prescription is resubmitted it will also need to go to pharmacy benefit review. One, when my Dr. wrote the scripts wasn't that him saying the drugs he wanted me to have, why does he need to reapprove what he wrote a script for?

Two, I'm pretty sure Express Scripts is the number one leading cause of my blood pressure problems. I'm going to ask to move to a strength that comes straight from the manufacturer because my pharmacy benefits administration can't seem to figure out how to fill my script. This is not OK, I think it's time to shut down Express Scripts. Finally, I have a full-time job that is not pharmacy benefits administration - why do I have to do all the follow-up? They say they call the Dr. but I never wait for anything from my Dr. There's no doubt in my mind that they're either not calling or hanging up as soon as they get put on hold, they're not working to fill the script.

Horrible, can't understand the CSRs, multiple CSRs, wife is on an insulin pump and uses Dexcom as the transmitter and sensor for it. Express Scripts knows she has issues with two of her transmitters not working when she installed them on her arm. Express Scripts refused to replace them when we called them about it. Now she's down to her last day before the transmitter has to be replaced or the insulin pump will shut down. Her doctor wrote a script to a local pharmacy and we were told that it'd be able to process today because the insurance time between fills was today.... Well of course Express Scripts is now processing a refill that we won't get for 10-14 days and the insurance won't cover the local pharmacy cost....and we can't afford the and don't have the extra money to buy it without insurance even if we wanted to.

So now Express Scripts is putting my wife's life in jeopardy due to their complete and utter incompetence. We called them three times over the past 9 days, the first two calls they said the order was being processed and we should get it by the end of the week. We never got an email notification so we called again Thursday and this time they said, "Sorry but it's not due for refill." We tell them we will fill it locally. We call her Dr and she sends a script, then today when we went to pick it up says that Express Scripts is processing the order and that he can't fill the script with insurance coverage due to that. Avoid Express Scripts at all costs.

Tried all the other ones they wanted me to try and my condition got worse. Severe headaches and developed kidney issues. Went all the way to a Level 2 appeal and still they denied it. They flat out refuse to put me back on formula for my medication that worked ALL BECAUSE OF COST!!

ISSUE #2 Doctor put me on ** due to a fatty liver issue. Was able to get medication for $25 for a 30 day supply. After 4 fills it was to go to 90 day supply. But to do supply chain issues, have been unable to get 90 day supply. I called Express Scripts for an exception due to supply issues. They said they could fill it for $450 for a 3 month. They wanted me to pay $375 MORE compared to my local CVS that would cost me $75. But the best part was that I had to PREPAY $450—EVEN THOUGH THEY COULD NOT FILL THE PRESCRIPTION!!! This company is an absolute joke. I’m glad my insurance will be leaving them come January 2025 and going back to previous company and be able to get my medication covered and not jump thru loops.

Doesn’t matter the situation in the years I’ve been doing this as a parent — whether it’s the script, processing, shipping, delivery, accountability, resolutions; nothing. The company has no idea how to effectively run a company of this magnitude — and unfortunately, it doesn’t matter because families have no power. They must use this company because of their insurance [like myself], so their incompetence goes completely unchecked. I absolutely hate it.

I work for Leidos and they offer limited number of insurance companies. I chose Aetna, which is providing excellent service. However, Express Scripts comes along with it as a bundle. I use to get my medicine from the local pharmacy, but then Express Scripts wants to mail me directly and give me discount. Therefore I accepted their offer. Then a prescription suddenly became too expensive for me. I said I don't want it, they insisted on sending it because my doctor prescribed it. I said no. They said, I have no choice, and they went ahead and sent it. I returned it without opening the package, and kept proof of sending it back from USPS.

They charged my CC for $315.00. I disputed that with my CC company. After several months of thorough investigation, the CC company agreed with me and removed the charge. ES charged me again, CC again removed it and issued a new CC for me cancelling my previous card number. ES had no way to charge. They kept sending me reminders to pay for something that I had returned. Last week, I received a threatening email that ES will cancel my account. I called Leidos and complained with all my previous communication with ES. A few hours after I complained to my employer, I received from ES and they have removed $315 from my account. I had to complain to my benefits department of my employer to resolve the issue. Why was it necessary to go through that channel?

If I could give this company negative 10 stars I would. I am a Type 1 diabetic who relies on insulin to survive. Every time I need a refill, I am on the phone for hours because everyone who works here is incompetent and uneducated. Today was the last straw. I have been on the phone for 5 hours, with 5 different people and get completely different answers from everyone. And I still have no medication which was ordered and paid for 7 days ago. It's temperature sensitive, lifesaving medication, and is supposed to be filled and shipped overnight.

When told I could transfer medication to a pharmacy, I agreed. Again, Express Scripts said this was no problem and hung up. They were of course unable to accomplish this and did not call me back to let me know. A new prescription has to be written and paid for. So after at least 5 hours on the phone, and a $150 payment, I now have to call my doctor and pay for the medication again. If you can avoid Express Scripts in any way, do it. Using them will put your health at risk, make you deal with complete incompetence and insanity, and cost you more money in the long run.

I like the idea of home deliveries and 90 day prescriptions, but Express Scripts has terrible customer service. I had a medication called in by my doctor in November 2023. I was waiting for my medication and called them up only to find out it was cancelled for some reason without notifying me. I had to pull teeth to figure out why my medication was cancelled, the representative did not know how to help. We figured it out and she reassured me it would be sent. A week later it still wasn't sent so I called again, was given a different story and that it would be fixed. Long story short I literally called numerous times and the issue was never resolved, so I had to send it into a local pharmacy because I was out of my medication. Next month when I ran out, it was cancelled again without me knowing why. I called several times and was on the phone for hours on end, with every call reassuring me that my medication would be sent ASAP. Of course it never was.

Literally 5 months later (from Nov), my prescription was filled in April. After hours of speaking with different people over the last 5 months, and they had the nerve to tell me they had no record of me speaking to all these people who told me it would be send "ASAP" until I ran out of medication. Fast forward I had to refill the prescription, and it was cancelled because I had a balance that was overdue- which was an overcharge for the same medication ( I wasn't notified, of course). The amount of times this pharmacy cancelled my medication to the point where I had no more, put me on hold for hours on end without helping me, and then gaslit me about the issue is atrocious. I am so sick of dealing with this pharmacy. 0/10 would not recommend. Avoid at all costs.

I haven’t been able to get into my online account because of this issue as well. All around a terrible company. I’ll be spending more to send it to my local pharmacy, at least I know I’ll actually get my medication safely.

Customer service lies about the status, especially shipping. They will place you on hold forever most likely hoping you hang up. The way they have it set up is they "start" to refill my order the same week that I run out of it. Then it takes them 9-10 days to "process" it. Then since it is temperature sensitive, they will only ship it out on certain days. This results in my being out of my prescription for 2-3 weeks. Horrible company and awful customer service.

Express Scripts refuses to fill my order as written by my doctor. I require a very inexpensive pill called ** because I had to have my thyroid removed several years ago. I didn't have any problem getting my prescriptions which are required to be brand specific until I went through Express scripts. Every time a prescription is called in they deny it. The office manager of my doctor is very patient and provides an appeal every time because she knows they're going to deny it. They are now denying every refill that I'm supposed to get. They won't send an emergency prescription to get me through until the appeal process is over, and they're not sending my prescription somewhere else so I can get it filled somewhere else. They're actually only saving me about $35 on this prescription.

Instead of simply allowing me to go elsewhere, they are only me from getting my prescription. This prescription helps with my heart rate, my body temperature, brain function, and my metabolism. I need this pill to survive. But yet, they don't care. My doctor's office filled out the forms with exactly the same data they have been receiving for seven years, but this time they have decided that because my doctor's office didn't use the right words I am denied coverage. If you want to live don't go through Express scripts.

Oh, Express Scripts, how do I even begin to extol the virtues of the most staggeringly incompetent and breathtakingly dishonest company I've ever had the misfortune to encounter? It's truly an art form how they manage to embody such a perfect storm of ineptitude and callousness. Zero sympathy? Check. Zero compassion? Check. They’ve got it all. Every single time, without fail, they manage to be late on deliveries. It's almost as if they take pride in their utter inability to deliver medications on time. And when they inevitably lose these crucial medications, do they show an ounce of remorse? Of course not! Apologize? Don't be ridiculous! Why would they bother to acknowledge the horrific inconvenience they cause? But wait, it gets better. The pièce de résistance in this tragic comedy is the fact that Blue Cross Blue Shield has actually partnered with this farce of a pharmacy.

It’s like watching two bumbling villains in a low-budget movie join forces. And the conspiracy theories just write themselves. Who wouldn't chuckle at the idea that BCBS, the government, and companies like Express Scripts are all in cahoots to delay prescriptions and test the limits of human patience—and mortality? Because, really, what's more entertaining than imagining a diabetic member or a cancer patient waiting weeks for their life-sustaining medications? The sheer thrill of wondering if their meds will arrive in time! It’s practically sport. And isn’t that exactly what Blue Cross Blue Shield is targeting with their members? It’s like they’re playing a grand game, where the stakes are literally life and death, and they’re just watching from the sidelines with popcorn. So, kudos to Express Scripts and Blue Cross Blue Shields. You've truly mastered the delicate balance of negligence and apathy. Bravo.

I am constantly being called to verify my doctor and then orders are then changed to minimize quantities and increase my out-of-pocket expenses. This company, and its parent company, should be held liable for the mismanagement of patient care. No wonder this company and Cigna are rated the worst in the business. It was the same as the previous shipment for which they charged my generic price. Once I told them this, they adjusted my account. Now more recently, they just increased the price of my generic drugs from ~$10 to $45. This drug is on their list of $10 for 90 day supply "Low Cost Generic Drug". When I called them, they are giving me a canned response that prices have gone up, though the pricelist they published says prices are valid until June 30, 2024. Stay away from these guys.

Please if you're looking for insurance for your employees, do not use Express scripts as part of their benefits. My doctor started me on a medication, and the initial process to get this approved, even though my doctor requested it, was near impossible. We had to go through a "pre-approval" process which consists of the insurance company deciding if they would allow me to get the approved medication, regardless of my doctor's requests. Needless to say this took 2 months of back and forth, 2 months of not being on this medication!!! Then there was a nationwide shortage of this medication. So it was a matter of going month by month hoping my pharmacy could get it in time before I ran out, which of course didn't happen. Now Express scripts has decided to deny my medication because they want me to fill it in 3 month increments.

Again, this medication is in short supply and I'm lucky to even get it month by month, so Express scripts has made it impossible to fill a prescription. When I called Express scripts, I stayed on the phone for 45 minutes with the rep who gave me the runaround.. and even at one point offered to send me to a pharmacist so they could explain the side effects I would be experiencing because they've made it impossible to fill my medication. I did finally get a override from Express scripts to fill one month, only to call the pharmacist and be told that an override was never put in, and the only way to get my medication would be to pay over $1,000. Again, if you care anything about your employees or the people you insure, please do not use this company.

I'm a type 1 diabetic that has an insulin pump and a blood sugar sensor anyone that knows anything about insulin pumps and blood sugar sensors knows they are computer programmed to be replaced every 10 days. Every single time my medical equipment has been ordered it's taken them 12 days just for "processing" and then another 5-10 days just for shipping. They have the audacity to tell me that because of their processing delays I could pay almost $50 for overnight shipping and this is after the $300 copay I already paid.

I've ran out of my medical equipment numerous times because of how slow their "processing" is and because of their shipment delays. I've ran out of my insulin more than once because of their slow "processing". When you order and pay for a prescription it should be processed that day not two weeks later their processing time is literally going to get somebody killed, absolutely unacceptable. So now I have to leave my job early and drive to a different town to pick up my prescriptions because of their absolutely insane processing and delivery times. Not acceptable I would not recommend this pharmacy to anybody that takes life-threatening medication.

I do not have the luxury to stretch out my medical equipment when you have an insulin pump and a blood sugar sensor as they are automatically computer programmed to turn off after 10 days. Every single customer service rep I have talked to has not even had a basic level of understanding of how a blood sugar sensor works these people should not be working for a pharmacy they have no sense of urgency and they don't understand.

When I get to talk to a human being it’s only for a short time because they have to transfer my call to someone else. From there I then find out that I now need a prior authorization for my medication and it needs to be for a 90 day supply. I’ve been working on this for a month or two to no avail. I finally spoke to a supervisor in customer service a few days ago and she made it sound like it was taken care of.

I called my Doctor's office and they said that they sent in the prior authorization a week or so ago, I asked them to send a new prescription to Walgreens for a 90 day supply. I got a notification from Walgreens that they got the prescription and we’re waiting for the approval from express scripts. The next day I got a message saying that I could pick up the prescription. I picked it up and it was for 30 days, Walgreens said that all that express scripts would approve. I’m now trying to find out why this is happening and do I have to go through this again next month. As usual I tried calling express scripts and after talking to 5 different people and being put on hold for a little more than a half an hour they suddenly hang up. I have NEVER been a customer by choice. I am forced by my medical insurance plan. They are the worst pharmacy I have ever done business with. Express Scripts always has some excuse as to why we never receive our prescriptions. When my doctor sends in a prescription, I have to call to verify they have received it, tell them to fill it and call back multiple times to confirm that they are processing and shipping it. My doctor sent in a prescription on the 3rd of the month.

I received an email from Express Scripts stating that they received the order and I would receive my medication by the 13th. I logged into their website daily to verify the status which continued to read "processing." On the 10th, I called and was told that the order was processing and it takes 5-7 days. Finally on the 13th I received an email that stated a tracking number had been created. So, it looks like I will receive the medication around the 17th. This is only one of thousands of issues I have had with them.

Luckily, I have a few days left to carry me through the 14 days they have taken to get my medication to me. Otherwise, this story would have had information about spending hours on the phone with Express Scripts and bothering my doctor to have to send an additional prescription to the local pharmacy to obtain enough medication to last until they can figure out why they can't get me my regular prescription to me in a timely manner. I would NEVER recommend Express Scripts to anyone, EVER.

I updated my address because I moved a month ago before I placed the new order. The representative confirmed the correct address with me over the phone. She called the PCT team to get the order started. The PCT rep correctly noted my address in the notes, but for some reason they used the address that was listed on a canceled order from 3 months ago! Just like that, my $4000 was delivered to the wrong address! They admitted their error but said they can’t replace it without approval from my doctor.

Next day (today) I speak with a supervisor (with a bad attitude and seems to hate her job because she doesn’t want to work with people) and I’m told the team that would work the replacement will not speak with me and they do not give updates about what they do, meaning supervisors won’t know what is happening with the meds. She said she does see that they’ve reached out to my doctor though and they are waiting on my doctor office. I call my doctor office and they said they have not contacted them at all! They were the smart ones and decided to send a new Rx to avoid Express Scripts saying they are waiting on them again.

I called express scripts again. This time, they confirmed they have the new Rx and the representative actually did speak with PCT who confirmed the correct address, no charge for replacement, and no charge for express shipping. Why didn’t the supervisor do anything to help me? Why did I have to remind her I’m the patient and I am in public health and she needs to think how close she is to violating ethics of healthcare by refusing to listen and work with a patient….

Prior to this, going back to the canceled order mentioned earlier, I was charged $2000 after simply speaking with a representative who did not confirm payment information! That is the reason I canceled. I received notification from my bank that $2000 was deducted and I did not authorize that! I hate this company! My employer requires me to use them for all 80 day supply orders. That is the absolute only reason I deal with them. They make me consider taking a chance on living without my meds. This company is the worst. They don’t care about your health only their profits. They are the rudest I have ever encountered. They speak over you while you are trying to speak you are on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes. Every prescription needs an approval they refill expired prescription instead of the one the doctor calls in. They do not listen they only are concerned with their own opinions. This is the worst company on the planet.

I really am considering another employer, because of this express scripts. In our opinion it's completely a negative company. If I could put negative stars, I would.

This was all supposedly fixed after the third call, but by the next morning, it shows as cancelled by me. Which is ridiculous! And the med names had been changed as well. So more days without my meds and more calls. They hung up on me on the 4th call and now I am sitting on the 5th call, 33 min on hold thus far, trying to get back to what was decided on the 3rd call. Not feeling hopeful at all, though.

They do nothing to aid the customer in getting temporary medication until the shipment is found and the carrier has 30 days until they have to report your medication as lost/damaged. If you are lucky enough to get your doctor to send in a temporary script to the pharmacy, you then have to call back and forth between the pharmacy and Express Scripts until you can get your insurance to override to fill temporarily since technically it was already filled through mail order. When the lost/damaged script is finally found, you still have to wait until the shipment is received back before any refund can be issued. By that time, you are up against coordinating another temporary fill and the cycle continues with zero help from Express Scripts.

Express Scripts has an unethical and bullying business model just shy of "I'm not *saying* me or my compadres would burn down your pharmacy if you don't pay me, but it would be *unfortunate* if something were happen to your medications." I spent years fielding regular calls from them to switch away from my VERY NICE AND CONVENIENT neighborhood pharmacy. I always said no. I liked walking to my pharmacy, I liked being able to get my meds same day as prescribed, I liked being able to easily talk to a pharmacist and look them in the eye. But it turns out Express Scripts is in cahoots with my insurance so one day I went in and my meds costed almost 4 times what they had the month prior (it was already $60 a month). I now had the option to use Express scripts for all long term meds OR not be able to afford them.

Those were literally my only options. And every time I have a cold or get a new prescription I get an email about how much money they could save me. But you know that original medication? The one that was $60 at my pharmacy? It's now $100 through express scripts. And I have it on good authority that if I pay out of pocket at Costco I could get it for $90. Oh, and they tried to deny the authorization for my fertility treatment this month so you can add in TRYING TO PRACTICE MEDICINE WITHOUT A LICENSE. In this case, I wish Citizens United was right and businesses really WERE people so I could shoot it in the gosh darn face and go back to my local pharmacy!

Once the script was received all of a sudden the medication is no longer in stock with no date of restock. I proceed to call daily and told that the prescription would only be filled if I called not automatic even though they had the script on hand. After calling for almost a week daily the medication was finally in stock. I spoke with the department to verify my address and told the prescription would be sent to me by May 30th.

On May 25 I received a text stating that the prescription could not be filled due to questionable dose. I contacted express scripts now for the 7th time in 2.5 weeks and spoke to the pharmacist. I was told that it is out of his hands and they need to speak to my physician despite having the prescription in hand for over a week and filled it, completed it and started the shipping process. I am now back to square one and a month on zero medication. I have nothing in my possession to take. I told the pharmacist this is very bad business practice and dangerous to the patient to make them go without meds for a month due to an internal issue.

I was written a prescription by my doctor. When I went to pick it up I was told that my pharmacy had no record of it. Apparently it was routed to Express Scripts for pre-authorization. A few days later their website said that the preauthorization failed, and that the preauthorization was successful as two separate line items so I contacted Express Scripts to ask why there were two separate conclusions and also which was valid. I was told that they were both valid but that the prescription was covered. I called my doctor to re-submit my prescription but apparently that duty fell to Express Scripts. Once they did submit the prescription it came back at several hundred dollars, not the dollar or so quoted on their website.

So I contacted them again, the email train between them and me was getting longer and more convoluted. Usually the agent would start by repeating everything already in the same email and then they would add one small (often useless detail). They would simply reply that it was covered. Of course it was not. I had the pharmacy re-run the script to no avail. Finally they were able to tell me that the prescription was covered for a different count than the prescription was written for. But when I checked the pre-authorization later it was pre-approved for the count that the prescription was written for. No answer as to why that was different. Finally the pharmacist felt sorry for me and told me that I should just check GoodRX - I was able to find a coupon that they took immediately that took the cost down around to what it should have been.

Really, my contact with Express Scripts was poor. The people that should have been helping me did the bare minimum just to kick the problem to the next person. They didn't answer my questions openly and did not even attempt to answer whatever questions could be logically generated. The website says one thing but no one could answer me why there was a disparity between the website and the pharmacy.

My most recent prescription spent a week and a half in "Processing" before I called customer service asking what was going on.

The customer service person seemed great and claimed he put an immediate rush on it and put an overnight shipping on it as complimentary for the excessive wait. Turned out that all was apparently a lie and the order took another 4 days to process and actually finally shipped after two weeks waiting. Now I'm still waiting for the prescription to arrive because it used regular DHL shipping that takes another week to arrive, NOT overnight. Once I realized the customer service replied, I had my doctor send a new prescription to CVS because I didn't know if I would ever get my prescription, but it can't be filled because insurance won't approve it so close to the other prescription that was apparently approved weeks ago for Express Scripts.

Called doctor to resend new script, and was sent. And same story, order received and processing, but abruptly cancelled. This time cause I needed to request a 90 day supply AND needed a patient level authorization, which I was never told I needed. Spoke to supervisor this time, since customer service is like watching 50 First Dates, received new information and worked with my doctor to submit a new 3rd script, with 90 day supply and patient level authorization. Once again text showed order received and I also received an email this time of confirmation order. Well of course, not a few hours later, order is cancelled again. Why? No stock available. Why would you cancel the order and not wait till stock is available? Why don't you inform the customer what is required all at once? Never experienced this kind of insanity with a pharmacy. This service is incredibly unreliable and dangerous if you require medication daily, as their poor communication and inefficient processes will lead to a lack of supply. I had an order automatically initiated for a medication refill but it was pending an updated prescription. I called my doctor, they sent the updated prescription, and I received a text message from ExpressScripts of the expected delivery date. I called ExpressScripts to confirm, and they confirmed they would expedite shipment as I was nearing the end of my supply.

I noticed a few days later that I still hadn't receive the shipment or any notifications, so I called ExpressScripts and it turned out that my order was cancelled without any notification sent to me. They recommended since I was completely out of my medication at this point to get my doctor to write me a 7-day supply that could hold me over while they shipped my 90 day refill. I received the 7-day supply from my local pharmacy, but now am being told it will be 10-12 days before my refill is delivered. I have spent 50 minutes on hold waiting to speak to someone that can expedite the shipment so I don't run out again before my temporary supply runs out.

Two days after those assurances are made the system tells me that the order cancelled. I was given several reasons for the cancellation; either lack of availability or the need to verify with doctor. My order cancelled at least 6 times in the past month. Express Scripts asks me to call the doctor for a new script each time and then call them back to check on the medication.

Last Monday I spent 2 hours back and forth with pharmacist, advocate, customer service. I have 2 insurance companies and they are one then my other should cover any leftovers. Well nobody will tell you this but they won't accept a second insurer. So now I owe them all this money suddenly.

To make matters worse when I log into my account it doesn't say anything that support what they are saying and while the dollar amount is the same in both cases, one is for a bunch of accrued charges over time, my account merely says I was charged for 4 medications about 8 weeks ago and that's why I owe and why my account is frozen. So now I have to cancel them and also wait a week for them to snail mail me a bill assuming they send it today, which I will then need to submit to my other insurer to get it paid which will take weeks so I am going back to the pharmacy. I don't think I'm the only person unhappy with this service. Way not awesome.

This script wasn't new, it was just a refill request I made and while I understand about shortages (**) it doesn't seem legal/right to me that they simply canceled the script instead of just putting it on backorder in queue order for when I submitted it.

When I called them, they only said that I would have to call back frequently (daily?) to see if it was in stock and then they would have to manually restart my script. How is this allowed that they can do this is such an unfair and ridiculous manner? I don't expect miracles when there are nationwide shortages but to force me to waste my time constantly calling (not even an online way to check the status) instead of a queue process or a daily notification from them.. I manage the prescriptions for both of my parents who have TRICARE benefits due to my dad’s career military service. I cannot believe how awful this company is. They must have terrible software because I have to repeat everything over and over over. They’ll say they removed previous insurance benefit company, but the next time I call it is still attached. Mind you the company has not been used in nearly 20 years. They will say they have earmarked a prescription for automatic refill, but when I call back, it is not marked for automatic refill. Rather than communicate effectively with members, we find out when we go to pick up prescriptions at the local pharmacy that we are blackmailed into using the mail away pharmacy. By blackmail I mean the prescription is over $5000 if we purchase it at the local pharmacy but $45 if we purchase it through the mail away pharmacy.

They blame the doctor for not sending prescriptions over when I have personally witnessed the doctor sending the prescriptions. They forced us to change my mother’s insulin to mail away, failing to realize that they didn’t have any of it. They forced us to change my mother’s insulin to mail away, failing to realize that they didn’t have any of it. Not only that, they did not notify us for three full weeks that they did not have any And so my mother had to go without her insulin for a while until we could get more. The only good thing about them is that they answer the phone fairly quickly and customer care advocates are kind and polite. But the process is tedious and takes a minimum of 45 minutes each time. So far on my current problem, I have called them three separate occasions, trying to get it resolved and spent 45 minutes to an hour each time.

If I want to get a waiver on the cost to get 14 day supply at a local pharmacy because they did not get the medication to us, I have to give all of the information to the next person I talk to again because they have to change agents to a customer service agent. I can’t believe that our military veterans have such a poor level of service after the sacrifices day, and their families made in service to our country. Please, find a new prescription service provider! I don’t have three hours a week to spend on the phone just trying to get something that should be so simple.

You do their job. Call to straighten an order? Fix some issues and cause new ones. The management clearly does inadequate training and poor workflow scripts. They will do the very least and you have to push them to dig into a problem. Misleading. Delivery dates, charges, you name it.

Possibly corrupt? When I asked to cancel an order they were delaying (how can an order be "in process" and yet not ship for last least two weeks with one day delivery?). They were going to do a credit. Wrong answer. Reiterated a refund. Ok, it' take up to 120 days. What? Now you're holding the money for the interest, and I get stuck with monthly interest and a hold. And suddenly they can reverse the charge today. How does that make sense? Also, they wanted to charge $26 for expedited delivery for a delayed order... Then magically it's free. The savings are almost at a scam level once you factor in the various questionable service and actions.

Absolute worst! I still haven’t gotten my daughter’s prescription 21 days after her doctor called in the prescription refill. Despite me calling four times now there is a different excuse or issue each time. Every person I speak with has a new excuse. If you need your medication don’t use them. Don’t trust a word they say because no one knows what’s happening. They claimed they didnt have my number to text me updates but then when they enrolled me again there was a text saying I was enrolled back in January. They also said they didn’t have my number to call me but then said they tried to call me a week ago (my phone shows no missed calls) terrible communication and no accuracy in customer service. I would rather pay at a pharmacy ten times as much than use them ever again!!!!!

Not only do you have the pharmaceutical companies fleecing the American consumer, but now the Express Scripts pharmacy has stopped accepting manufacturers' coupons. A really poor, greedy decision by the pharmacy. They didn’t even announce the policy after AUTOMATICALLY applying them and not allowing their customers to competitively shop. These higher-up corporate cowards then leave it up to the poor customer service representatives that do not get any benefit to take all the heat. Bad form. Bad form. I know it is convenient to have it delivered, but don’t use them. Period.

My husband and I have only been using Express Scripts for two months-AND I HAVE SPENT THE MAJORITY OF MY FREE TIME IN THOSE TWO MONTHS TO CLEAN UP THEIR MESSES. My husband and I sent in our two NEW scripts-which they said would take 5/7 days to process AND THEN shipment would be an extra 3/4-both scripts were cancelled without our knowledge. We both called to see why, and just like EVERY time we call-there’s ALWAYS a different story with every different person we speak to. Through MANY chats with supervisors over many days, my husband's 90-day script was finally shipped overnight-but took three days to get here and he had already run out of meds so had to get a temp script to cover what Express Scripts couldn’t provide because of all the run around.

My own script that had been cancelled, was finally being processed once again, however, even though my husband and I are obviously under the same plan, they could not approve a 90-day script for me, so my doctor had to resend a 30-day. Once again, after many days of just sitting and being “processed” and now out of medication-I called to follow up and ES said I HAD PUT A HOLD ON MY OWN MEDICATION. WRONG, I had no idea how I could’ve even done this, and they said they would do me a courtesy and put it back in process which was now going to delay shipping even longer because they were basically starting from scratch.

After many calls and MYSELF advocating to make sure THEIR process is going smoothly-I finally revived my meds. Here we are, though, this month, my script-which was supposed to be refilled beginning of April, actually was never filled until the 18th. ONCE AGAIN after many calls – most recent last week where the lady I spoke with told me it had been delayed due to needing more “information from my doctor”-well, spoke with my doctor and she’d NEVER been contacted once. The supervisor I spoke with said that she would do me a courtesy and overnight because I was without medication. A courtesy??? How about you do me a courtesy and fill the script when sent in, communication with a customer when delayed, then shipped in a timely manner so we’re not going without.

Well, here we are again, my overnight shipment will not be here until next week, and I absolutely DREAD doing this another month. Supervisors have told me several times that if there is anything wrong with the intake, process of medication, meds out of stock, what have you-I would be notified within 24 hours. Never ever have I ever been notified about any problems or issues, I ALWAYS have to do MY due diligence to see they’re doing their job. Once again, I am without medications, tired of spending all of MY time making sure everything is on the up and up and the job is being done. Absolute SCAM, and I can’t believe someone allows a business to continue running this way! I’d give ZERO stars if able.

My doctor prescribed a medication for me that was not available. Express Scripts put that medication hold, calling it "stopped" on their website. I called to check on it a few days later, and it was still unavailable. Fast forward 9 days later, I go back to the website to check on the status of this med, and it is still stopped. So I speak with a rep. The rep says it is now available. I want to know why it hasn't been filled then? He sends me to another rep. She said yes it is available, let me get you to a customer care rep (I think that's what she called it)...wait about 5 mins and someone comes on the line and says let me check this med. She says yes it is available....Am I losing my mind? No. The med came available and they didn't fill it. So she proceeds to put the med thru for processing.

I ask how long, and she says 2 to 3 days then however long for shipping. I ask including the weekend? She says no, only business days. So I say so it should ship maybe Tuesday or Wednesday? (today is Friday) She says, no...my mistake up to 5 days for processing. OMG!!!! Then I ask the obvious, why wasn't this med filled when it became available? She tells me I would have to call to have it processed once it is stopped. HOW incompetent can a company be and still be in business? Taking Medicare/Medicaid taxpayer money?

Mind you I had a prescription for the same med at a lower dose and they didn't have that either, so I had the local pharmacy call to have it transferred and they told the pharmacist they didn't have a prescription for me for that drug. I called them back and asked what was going on and they didn't know why that had happened. The pharmacist called a second time and they kept her on hold for 25 minutes, she had to hang up. I then called them back a third time and they had a "specialist" call the pharmacy to transfer the prescription. But even then they did it wrong, it was only for 1 month, not the 2 that was prescribed. AND the other month magically disappeared from their website. All I can say is someone should sue these people, they are really doing a BAAAAD job.

However, it takes at least 10 days to process after receiving the prescription from my doctor. Then there is the mailing. Customer service is a joke, no help, just tell you what you have already read on your account. If I had any other choice, I would never use this company again. They shipped a 90-day supply of medication via DHL, who lost it in shipping. First Express Scripts refused to mark it lost, saying it was only delayed. It's been over 3 weeks since it shipped, and the tracking info hasn't updated in almost that long. Even DHL says it's lost. Finally got someone to mark it as lost, but they need a new script from my Dr to replace it. Fine, I go through the hoops for that, but now they want almost $1000 to ship the new order. I point out I already paid a co-pay of almost $300 for the first order that we all now agree is lost, so why do I need to pay 3x that for a replacement? They agree that shouldn't be necessary and say they'll waive it, look for an update in 24 hours.

I'm the meantime, I'm completely out of this med. My doctor calls in a 10 day refill to bridge, the pharmacy calls the number ES gave me for them to call, and ES tells them I need to call a different number - again. Call #5. I do, and they fix that party, but then tell me I owe $1000 before they'll ship the 90 day refill. They claim there is no record that I called the day before, and no record of any fee being waived. Again, I ask why I need to pay $1000 for a med I can get at any local pharmacy for $150-$450 without insurance? No answer to that. They refuse to ship the replacement, and I'm refusing to give them $1000 for meds I could get locally *without insurance* for $150. I honestly don't know what to do next, and I don't expect this review to make a difference, I just hope I can prevent someone else from going through this same thing. DO NOT use them if you have a choice. Unfortunately, I do not.

They didn’t fulfill my order on time, and trying to get an explanation was a runaround with multiple long unhelpful calls. When I finally reached a supervisor, her response was not only dismissive but also rude. She incorrectly informed me that my plan and group number changed and that the strips were no longer covered, contradicting the information on my insurance card. She couldn't provide any viable alternatives or confirm whether the related glucose monitors were covered, showing a zero knowledge.

After four frustrating calls, another supervisor eventually resolved the issue which I'm about to see as I still have not received my order nor it was shipped, but this ordeal has seriously made me question the competence of the initial staff I dealt with. The first supervisor's ignorance and lack of professionalism were shocking. This experience really highlights serious flaws in their service and staff training. If you need reliable pharmacy services, I’d think twice about using this one based on my experience.

My blood pressure is sky high and my blood is boiling. Every week there’s a delay, and for something I’ve already taken care of. No one contacts me to let know, either. I’ve been expecting my medicine for weeks and it still hasn’t even been processed. I’ve spoken to so many people now, I’ve lost count and no one can actually tell me why my order won’t go out. I have a zero balance. I’ve confirmed my address multiple times. I’m down to 2 days worth now.

Today’s “representative” told me to call my local Walgreens and have them call Express Scripts to transfer it. They refused to just call Walgreens for me, but it was moot anyway. New York law prohibits transferring a prescription that has not yet been filled. But Express Scripts won’t fill it and no one can tell me why. Around and around we go. Looks like I’ll have to try to reach my doctor and have a new prescription called in to Walgreens. I’ll likely have to pay out-of-pocket. That should be easy and expeditious, right? *Sigh* At least I don’t have mental health problems… Well, at least I’m taking medication for it… Well…

After a positive interaction with Express Scripts, Eleatic increased their star rating.

    Original Review: April 12, 2024

Updated on 07/11/2024: Updating a previous review and changing previous rating from 1 to 3 stars. Two reasons for this. First, a lot depends on the customer service agent(s) who help you. Some do nothing and give no useful information; however, I can now report that I have spoken to some excellent agents who explained things well and took exceptional steps to help me solve a problem.

Second reason: With regard to delays in processing and shipping orders, I have come to understand that there are many variables that pharmacies, including Express Scripts, cannot control. Especially when ordering controlled substances, you really need to insist that your doctor take into account the legal constraints specific to your state that affect processing and shipping times. My only complaint with Express Scripts at this point is that, again, customer service ranges from the worst to the best I've ever experienced with an online company, so there's an element of randomness involved in obtaining information and managing orders. Bottom line: Know the processing times, plan ahead, anticipate delays, and keep your prescribing doctors informed. Apart from delay issues, the underlying service is quite good.

Original Review: Great business model in theory, but it breaks down in ways that make the service unusable. What happens if there's a delay in processing a prescription order? The site is supposed to warn you that your prescription won't be filled on time, but this does NOT happen, so you won't know there's a problem until you infer this yourself, which is likely too late to get your medication on time. Moreover, they won't tell you the reason for the delay. This is hugely important to know in some circumstances, e.g. in the case of a national shortage, so that you can make alternative plans in the future. Basically you have no idea if or when your meds will arrive on time or late, so if your prescriptions are urgent, then it's too risky to use this service.

I conducted a three-way call with insurance and Express Scripts where I was told that all was in good order and that the prescription order would ship. The order was then rejected again for prior authorization. Repeatedly, during the last 8 phone calls I've made in 30 days, l have been told that the issue was either escalated or resolved, likely to get me off the phone and preserve the agent's "call handle time" which is most likely a highly weighted measure of their performance at the company. The level of care or concern for a patient that has been without meds for over a month is nonexistent.

The whole network of Express Scripts is designed to keep them in control of your medications so they continue to be recipient of your money. My doctor accidentally sent the prescription for pain medication to them instead of my local pharmacy which Express scripts said when I called, "That's no problem. Give your pharmacist the 800-922-1557 number to call and we can transfer it immediately." The pharmacist called them and when the pharmacist got back to me, was told "we don't know what the patient is talking about. This prescription is in process and cannot be changed. It couldn't be delivered for more than a 14 days." I called them back and said, "If it can't be delivered for more than a week, and two days, why can't it be halted and transferred immediately?" Again, when I called the pharmacist number, Victoria kept replying, (or not talking at all), "I get you." But never once offered a reason or a solution.

I could tell she was talking to someone else because she didn't answer me at all. Then the moment I said, "Are you there?" She quickly said, "Yes, I'm here." There should be a federal investigation into their practices. I'm having the doctor remove Express scripts off my information so prescriptions are NEVER SENT TO THEM AGAIN. No one at Express scripts knows what's going on or why. They are a ticking bomb for a lawsuit (or several) which will destroy lives and they don't care. It's as though they consider collateral damage if that happens and part of doing business. As long as I have a breath left in my body and I have control of my health, I'm going to be proactive and move drug control out of their reach, particularly pain medications as cardiac medications which I need faster and can't transfer once they have the order in their possession.

Everyone blames someone else. So, I don't know who is at fault. But, sure seems like it is Express Scripts, since my insurance company has contracted all pharmacy claims to Express Scripts.

I feel badly for their frontline employees because they aren’t really trained to answer questions outside of anything routine. I find myself having to escalate my questions to supervision. My 2 issues were RX’s for ** and **. I was told they don’t carry **. I explained, I’m a retired provider and ** is as common as **. They didn’t offer and contingency, referral to a Pharmacist or contact my PCP for substitution anti-fungal. This conversation was with a supervisor. The patient shouldn’t have to be the contingency planner for Express Scripts!

I just checked on their customer reviews, they are rated 1, yes 1. I can’t believe they still have the government contract. An IG needs to investigate them and hopefully, our Veteran patients and their dependents can be treated by a reputable mail order pharmacy service. What is our government paying them for this contract? Is the issue we aren’t paying them enough causing unacceptable service. Perhaps they are short employees? Whatever the issue, it needs attention of an IG.

So consistently every single month I have to call twice to request an expedite and go two weeks minimum without my ADHD meds and the only thing they can suggest is “well, ask your doctor to put in a script at your local pharmacy so you’re not going without your meds”. Trust me, I would be picking them up locally if I had that option. If I don’t go through express scripts I have to pay over $600 for just ONE medication, so calling it in locally isn’t an option. They are fully aware they are causing people to go without medications and simply do not care. That’s unacceptable.

This company is difficult to work with and has recurring issues every time you refill a medication. My medication is paid for by a 3rd party assistance program. It pays every month after the medication is sent. ExpressScripts has selective amnesia every month and pretends they don't know this. I was forced to use the 3rd party assistance program by my insurance. After I ordered the last refill, I was unable to get my medication for over 12 days, during which time I ran out. ExpressScripts never messaged me or let me know there was a billing issue so I could take care of it before I ran out of medication.

They also pretended, falsely, that they can't see any payments made on my account previously, where they would have seen the 3rd party payments that have come in for the last 6 months. If you are an insurance company please don't subject your subscribers to this company. The poor, and inexcusable operations of this company should not be rewarded with new or continuing business.

Our family member has dementia and it's imperative that the medication come on time. This medication cannot be started and stopped. The medication was on autofill, but when we logged in it had been changed. We ordered it again on March 15th and seven days went by and still no medication.

We logged in and the medication said delayed. We weren't given a reason for the delay. We finally called to find out what the issue was and we were not given a reason. We were asked if we needed to know the side effects when off of the medication. The answer was NO, the doctor monitors that. Instead we wanted to know why they were negligent in sending this medication. I say all of this to say we ordered the medication March 15th and did not receive until April 4th, and we only received it April 4th because we called. We were never given an explanation of why they chose to delay the medication. You must do better. Now our family member is experiencing some side effects due to the delay (the medication had to be reintroduced).

I called March 29th to check on status and was told my medication was received and had been transferred to a different department? I was told this was discussed with me but that is not true.

It seems they're making decisions for the customer now and lying about it. I got transferred to that department and no mention of anything. Just that the agent would try to escalate the refill request. This is scary, is this how they're treating service members and their families now? I just spoke with a lady in the pre authorization department who was not being empathetic or caring at all. The reason for my call is that my doctor sent the pre authorization form for this year last week while we were on our appointment and she claimed that the pre authorization was triggered by the pharmacy trying to fill my prescription and that my doctor never sent anything. When I asked questions as to what additional information they needed, when was the request sent to my doctor, which it had only been a day since it was sent is there, when I ask if there was a way to get a permanent authorization since I am allergic to ** and that is why I get authorize for **, she gave a cookie cutter or short responses and when I continued to ask questions she would raise her voice.

When I finally called her out on it she stated her voice was the same tone, and I told her no it has not been specially when I have not been rude to her and I closed the call by telling her to remember to be kind to people and disconnecting from her. The truth is, it is very frustrating trying to get these authorizations through, because even when we are being proactive we are met with challenges, and the reason for which I ask for it is simple: I am allergic to the covered medication. That is not something that is going to change, her explanation was that health plans can change and that a medication may no longer be covered and when I told her, that does not apply in my case because the medication has already been taken off the covered list, and since I am allergic, hence the reason for the ** and she just raised her voice and said there could be other reason. So she was not being forthcoming or empathetic.

You are dealing with people not machines, kindness, empathy and respect are paramount in this business. For example, the young man I spoke to before being transferred to the pre-authorization department, his name was Ernest, he was very nice, I could tell he had a smile on his face because it transpired in his tone of voice and he was very helpful and pleasant. You need more people like him answering the phones! Please take this feedback in mind because it is very frustrating when advocating for myself to deal with people like that young lady I spoke to in the pre authorization department.

On 3/21 I got a notification that one of the orders had shipped to the wrong address. I called immediately to ask what was going on.
