Urban Financial seemed like they were good people. The gentleman who called me back was informative. Any question I had, he answered. If he didn't know the answer, he called me back when he got it. He did real good. He was nice and helped us a whole lot.

I had a good rate on my mortgage and a reverse mortgage showed me a way to eliminate the payments. I didn’t want to refinance because it would’ve been at a higher rate. Working with the people at Finance of America Reverse was fantastic. They're all wonderful people and treated us like family. They did a wonderful job and everything went great.

I dialed a number that I saw for Urban Financial and their loan officers were very good and nice. They were also very tolerant and took a lot of time. They really helped me and explained everything no matter how many times I went there or no matter how many times I called. I really appreciate it and it was a good experience working with everybody, especially the main guy that I worked with.

We needed help and the reverse mortgage with Finance America was the way to go. They gave us excellent guidance and everyone was wonderful.

My experience with Finance of America Reverse was delightful. Their loan officer presented to me all the information. All the follow-up and any phone calls were returned in a timely manner, and any questions I had were answered. Everything they stated was completed in a timely fashion. They did a great job as far as keeping me informed of every step that was going on, especially with the appraisals.

I got a reverse mortgage for the ability to have equity in my house in my hand and be able to do some repairs and investing with that. The people at Finance of America were all good. This whole thing was handled very professionally and expeditiously. I'm totally happy with the experience. The biggest weakness was the notary that they sent to do the closing who was fully informed on all the notary-type aspects but couldn't handle questions that might have related to the mortgage. That was probably the least professional part, although, it was done and it’s okay.

I had an equity line with Bank of America, who badly screwed it up. And instead of paying it off, I decided to do a reverse mortgage with Finance of America. They were more efficient and less annoying compared to others. And the person I talked to actually had a vocabulary. The process has been annoying and time-consuming. But I understand why it has to be that way because I'm pretty sure the average person will not pay enough attention and it does have to be repeated 15 times. But I'm a real estate agent and I find all of it to be redundant. I'd have to recommend them simply because what's out there is pathetic and everybody else was so bad.

She was really helpful and answered all of my question. She filled in the blanks for me. I was at the point where I wanted it, but I wasn’t sure. She gave me time to think things over. The only thing I didn't like was all the paperwork, but I understand all of it.

From the very beginning when all the process began, the person at Finance of America Reverse was one of the nicest ladies that I've ever dealt with. The rep was great, however, I didn't ask all the right questions. I thought that the insurance fee for every month was insurance fee that we paid, but it's actually every month. But other than that, they were very nice when I called several times about different problems.

I’m on social security and I can’t prove income so I can’t get a loan. I already owe $80,000 on my house and I put addition on it. My experience was very good when I was working with them. The gentleman was very nice at that time. If I called him, two seconds later he called me back. Everything was nice until I got the loan. Once I got it, I couldn’t get to talk to anybody after. I can’t get in touch with anybody in the last five months. I’ve made hundreds of attempts and they won’t answer the phone. I talked to some people at the new place because Urban went to with Finance of America Reverse and they say “we’ll call back in ten minutes” and nobody ever calls us back. One company doesn’t want to talk about the other company.

Chad ** is a very knowledgeable representative. He has been a great agent always helping me and explaining what is or isn't available to me. He has given me great advice. And I appreciate it.

I’m happy with Finance of America Reverse. Everything went well, timely, and smoothly with them. The lady who was my loan officer was very vigilant, stayed on top of things, and contacted me all the time with all of the discoveries. The process went a lot better than I expected.

In the Summer of 2014 I responded to a reverse mortgage pop-up ad. Very shortly thereafter, I was contacted by your Reverse Mortgage Specialist, Jamie **, who, at that time, was employed by GMFS. Jamie was very patient with me, as I was quite skeptical about reverse mortgages, due to all the negative comments I had heard and read about concerning them. Because Jamie is an expert in her field and excellent in explaining how it works, I gained a much better understanding of reverse mortgages and decided to start the application process for my sister.

I have dealt with many processors and I cannot say that I have dealt with a more informative and helpful processor than Erica **. She did a outstanding job for me in what was a tough situation! I am writing today in regards to my experience with Finance of America and their process in being approved for a reverse mortgage. The gentleman who applied is an 86-year-old veteran on a fixed income and at the time of application, was under threat of foreclosure auction in a home that he'd lived in and owned since 1959. I am his caretaker. Our interaction with the company spanned 4-5 months, and overall, I can definitively say that I have ever had a more positive experience with a large-sized company in my entire life than I did with Finance of America. Hands down, the best.

A reverse mortgage suited us better than getting a refinance, so we opted for it, and went with Finance of America because they gave more information than others. The representative was very knowledgeable and could answer all my questions. The transaction was very good and clear as everything was explained thoroughly. It went very easy, and was a pleasant experience.

Their loan officer, Ed, was fantastic to deal with as far as going through the company, and we made a good team. We worked together, and we got the job done quickly. But I think once the second half of it happens, everything will be a whole lot better.

He was a great help to me and every time I was nervous or had questions he was there for me every step of the way. This fella really knows his stuff. He was very informative. I'm happy with the reverse mortgage. It's all what was said it would be. The rep was extremely nice and promptly replied when we asked questions about taxes and insurance. Finance of America Reverse found out what our goals were and it just confirmed that we had made the right decision talking with them. We don't have a house payment now and the way it's turning out, I'm not going to have any insurance or taxes for about ten years because I know they cover that too. So it has allowed me and my wife to semi-retire. We can spend some time with each other and enjoy life.

A pleasure to work with her. It was a lot of paperwork but the guidance and help provided by each person with whom I came in contact eased the "burden".

Everything went well with Finance of America Reverse. I would rate it as a good experience. It wasn't quite what I expected as far as the money goes but that wasn't their fault. We chose a reverse mortgage to help us get out of credit card debt. The other companies we talked to were all basically the same as far as the interest and all that but Finance of America Reverse did away with some of the charges, making it a little more attractive. A fair and accurate description of my travel through all the hoops required to obtain a reverse mortgage to me could be described as worrisome, scary, and at times maddening if it were not for my representative Jamie. I never would've done the reverse mortgage if I had not read an article by Jack Guttentag, a professor emeritus of real estate at the Wharton Business School of Finance. He wrote about the advantages of a reverse mortgage. So I wound up doing it with Urban Financial. When doing a reverse mortgage, one has to jump through hoops and educate himself. You have to go to an independent ombudsman and pass the quiz they'll give before you can even talk to the Urban Financial type of guys about a reverse mortgage and negotiate your deal. You have to have your house assessed. It took six months from the time I started until I got done. I'm very happy with Urban Financial. Joe was was very straight and gave me all the information. He was very good. I redid the reverse mortgage when my house valuation went up here in January. And I've had it with them now for about two years and it will go on for another eight.

Finance of America Reverse had a great open and a lot of promises so I decided to go with them, but I had a lousy experience and I wouldn't recommend them. They didn't keep their promises and timelines.The process was held up for seven months in order to get the thing done. There were documents prepared that I went to sign, and they were wrong. Not once, twice. I was painted into a corner where I absolutely had to have the money. They do not hold themselves accountable for their work and they prey on older folks who may not be quite as savvy into what their responsibility is.

Because of the new bank restrictions and the change in the debt to loan ratio for traditional loans, my husband and I found that a proprietary mortgage was the only option for us. Working with Monica ** was extremely easy and smooth. She answered my calls or emails within hours, she did not misrepresent any part of the process, and the loan fees were surprisingly low for this type of loan. I would definitely recommend this company for someone seeking this type of financing.

He made sure that he called me regularly to see how things were going and had me call him anytime, whether day or night or weekends if I had questions. I also liked the way he handled himself.

This was my second attempt to obtain a reverse mortgage. I was in awe at the time it took from filling out the application to closing. My loan officer was just great and very knowledgeable - as my situation was somewhat complicated - she just took the bull by the horns and made it happen. I decided to go with Finance of America Reverse because, among the three that I contacted after I started reading the literature, I was very pleased with the representative from Reverse. I'm 76 years old and our house is paid for. I couldn't do a day's work of my life today. I've got hard day's work and reverse mortgage is a way of getting some money to use. We put a bunch of it back into the house like a new roof. We also paid off a credit card debt that we've been struggling with. We're past the working age so we don't have jobs and don't have an income. Finance of America's rep Matt was excellent and helped us through the whole thing. However, all the paperwork looked like a Montgomery Ward Catalog but I'm perfectly satisfied because I knew what I was getting into and I knew how it was going to end up.

I talked to three or four mortgage companies, and since Scott, the rep from Finance of America Reverse, was more persistent than the rest of them, I decided to go with them. The one out in California got mad at me about it because she thought I was working with her. But there's a three-hour time spent difference and it didn't work out conveniently. I get up at four in the morning to go to work very early, then I go to bed very early. So I was in bed before their day was very well underway and that didn't work out. But I haven't been happy with them.

We had downsized about a year ago. And in so doing, it turned out that the regular mortgages that banks could offer these days for retired people whose income is going down a little bit but who has a fair amount of assets, is not all that favorable. They started off offering one thing and by the time we got through with the details, it was at a level which was not as good as they started out. And I’ve had become accustomed to having a sizeable equity line as a type of security and seeking that.

I'm 57 years old and worked in the Corporate World for 15 years and have NEVER experienced customer service that is so inadequate. DO NOT use this company to secure a reverse mortgage. My Mother spoke with someone she felt was a Good Person, and entered into a contract with this company. It's been a NIGHTMARE!!! Each time you call you talk with a different representative that tells you a different story. I say STORY because I don't usually call people LIARS. I know the representatives work at a job to receive a paycheck. It's not their business so they follow the procedures. Take heed folks, or pay the consciences. Won't submit this response until I rate my experience. REALLY!!! Angry is not even close...
