For the last 3 years I've regularly purchased a large item from Office Depot, delivered via freight. Evidently Office Depot recently switched their freight carrier to R&L... a very bad business decision that Office Depot will probably lose my business over. They may be saving a few bucks using R&L, who are far inferior to the 2 prior freight companies who were professional & had competent employees!

My delivery was scheduled to arrive between 10:00-2:00 on a day I was going out of town on vacation. When 2:00 rolled around and it still hadn't been delivered, I called and spoke to the person I already had 2 conversations with. I was advised it had been delivered at 11:00. Long story short, my street has a north & south... they delivered to the wrong address. If they had followed my instructions to deliver off the pallet (2 prior freight companies did without issue) I could have loaded it in my vehicle.

When I called and talked with the same person for the 4th time, (who I instructed to deliver off pallet) she copped an attitude with me because it was only 60+ lbs and a certain distance to retrieve! I told her because my CLEAR instructions were not followed, they would have to send the driver back out to pick it up from the wrong address and deliver to the correct address, and again take off the pallet. I had to leave a note on the delivery at the wrong address because the people weren't home, and luckily I left my phone number. I received a call from them around 8:00 PM that it was still sitting in their driveway at the wrong address... they opened the BOL and called R&L, who told them that they "forgot". I'm furious with this company! They only care about dropping freight, have zero customer service and incompetent employees.

After reading many of these reviews, I was very nervous about my shipment arriving in one piece or even at all. However I am very glad to report that I had zero issues with R&L. They delivered my package when they said they would. I received a call from the driver about 45 minutes before he arrived. He even unloaded my packages right into my truck, 4 separate parts weighing 115 lbs a piece. I was very satisfied and have absolutely nothing to complain about from this company. I should mention that I live in South Georgia. I guess the individual truck drivers make all the difference. If you are like me and worried about your packages, based on my experience I would say you have nothing to worry about.

Our Company will never use R L Carriers again. The service and the drivers are subpar and I am tired of bad service. This has occurred several times. The last call was ** where we called in the morning of the 27th of June and specifically requested delivery after 4PM and was told the driver would receive that message because this company will not go down our commercial driveway and we need to pull a technician off a job to assist their driver. The driver called at 245 and said he was on the way. I told Frank that we don't have anyone there until 4PM and he said he had to be somewhere else at 4 and said he would call the office and call back. He never did and at 4PM I called the 800 number and after looking it up they told me he was now going to come between 5 and 6. After I took one of my techs off a job to come and sit in the driveway for nothing. We will never use this company again.

Got my shipment for a pool heater today (roughly 200LB item) and the driver refused to bring it closer to my garage because it was against company policy so he dropped it off at curbside (sidewalk). He got very defensive and rude when I asked him if he can bring it closer, from there, everything went downhill. I had to find ways to push this heater into my garage from the sidewalk. This was my first time using RL Carriers and so I tried asking him questions about what I can/can't do. He tried to answer but was very rude and short temper; in a very condescending way, which was not helpful at all.

I asked him if I can examine the item for damages. He said I can't open the box unless I signed for it, I said that's not what the company I bought from told me but fine, I'll examine the exterior. Even that, I was rushed. I called his manager (Tony **) and file a formal complaint against him. Tony didn't mentioned about the examination problem but Tony advised me that Steve should have been able to get the item closer to my garage because from what he can see (Google map) there's a lot of room for him to push the dolly up. At the end, I was able to borrow equipment from my neighbor and was able to get his help, without him, the heater would still be sitting on the sidewalk. This is the worst delivery experience ever; mostly thank you Steven **.

The delivery driver was rude, refused to deliver items inside because he said it wasn't possible. Had pallets like that delivered before and they got them inside no problem. Clearly just didn't feel like putting in any physical effort. Worst experience ever. He left the items outside in the rain with nothing to cover them in a downtown highly populated area.

Most of you who know me know that I complain little on Facebook, but today, I'm compelled to let everyone know of the way I've been treated by a company and to warn others to beware. I've been a happy customer for many years, nearly 20 in fact. R+L Carriers is a great company to do business with UNTIL there's a problem. We received a damaged item from them weeks ago, and the response to my issue has been nothing short of abysmal. I've called numerous times to the local hub, as well corporate and have to date, I've simply left unreturned messages. This image is costing me and my family more than $2,000 out of pocket and I want the world to know the story.

My company is now a part of a chain of more than 68 locations nationwide, and just as I promised, we are now changing ALL R+L carrier suppliers to other carriers. It's not about the money, it's about the character of a company that matters and the saddest part of this whole fiasco is that our business was theirs to lose... and they couldn't have cared less.

I too ordered a massage chair and once unboxed, found it to have damage. Tried to resolve with EBAY and they credited my account but I had small window to return. They sent me a USPS label to return a 187 pound chair! Contacted R L. They sent a driver out next day, no quote up front or anything. I noticed I put the wrong return address on the waybill, contacted them and sent updated address. They didn't do anything and it got shipped to CA instead of GA from TX. Bill was more than cost of chair. No response on requested difference of bill for GA and CA. I really think they are in business with Factory direct because they mentioned they do lot of business with them. That same massage chair has probably more miles cross country and they collect the shipping fees over and over. I will never use them again and suggest no one else does.

I hired R&L Carriers, doing business as You Crate, to provide moving crates and services for residential household items. They agreed to deliver 2 crates suitable for that purpose and charged me $1486 for pick up in Danville, IN and delivery in Laguna Woods, CA. On March 10, 2017, they delivered two "crates" that they claimed were suitable; they were not. They were comprised of 6 rotten pieces of plywood held together with metal clamps, with large holes and no way to secure contents. (Have photos.) Due to the size of the large crate, it was delivered on the driveway, and exposed to winter weather of rain and snow.

When they were delivered, I was horrified and called to complain; they refused to send any better crates, but offered to pick them up early so that they didn't get rained on. They told me to cover them with tarps. Despite being told I would have 2 days to load, I had to load them immediately for pick up. The were dirty and smelled, and not suitable for clothing, so I incurred an additional $386 to FedEx to box and mail clothes and shoes. Since they weren't secure, I had to change the delivery address to a location that the unsecure, rotten plywood crates could be placed without risking theft or damage to my items. I advised them of this fact, and although it was only 19 miles additional, they attempted to charge me $475 additional for changing the delivery address (but did not ultimately).

When they delivered the crates, the lift was not able to unload them, so all contents had to be unloaded from the truck, immediately, contrary to the contract which allowed two days to unload. My items had bugs and dirt and representative Jeff ** was arrogant and condescending in dealing with the problem - refused to refund any of the $1486, but reimbursed for FedEx $386. This is a fraudulent and deceptive business practice if you see the rotten plywood that they claim was suitable for residential moving.

Second time, I was home all morning and did not see the truck arrived, and he did not even push the door bell to let me know he is here and he just unload the over two hundred lbs box on my driveway. I ordered some step bars for my truck and the makers N-Fab use this carrier service for some reason. I received a call from R&L representative saying they will be delivering my package the next day. The next day rolls around and about 11am I receive another call stating the delivery driver was hospitalized and probably wouldn't get delivered that day. They said possibly late that day or early next morning. All good... Accidents happen. I took another day off work to be home to receive my step bars. My home is gated and fully fenced with my dogs roaming free inside. Thus why I have to be home to open the gate.

Well the next day rolls around and I receive another call from the First Lady once again saying they screwed up. Apparently my package never even made it on the truck for delivery that day due to miscommunication between driver and warehouse... (idiots working there) so now I'm angry because of their second screw up I now have to ask for a third day off work. I make good money so I basically wasted three days of work because of them. I could have bought a second set of step bars for the money I lost by staying home three days!

From what I read from other reviews this company is employed by many underqualified morons. For a logistics company which needs to have excellent coordination R&L is seriously lacking in this department. If possible use another carrier service as they will most assuredly mess your delivery up one way or another! I have yet to receive my package so I cannot even comment on the condition of my package after delivery. I have a feeling they will be damaged somehow. =(

We sent a $5000 sign across the country using this Carrier. One of their employees drove a forklift through the wood crate into the sign, completely destroying it. The crate was properly marked and packaged, and insured. The customer refused the package because it was obvious there was serious damage, it the crate and sign were returned to us. We took several photos of the damaged crate and sign, and filed a claim. They refused to pay the claim, so I have filed a small claims lawsuit to pay for the sign, since we had to make a replacement sign. Do not do business with this company. They are crooks!!! This is the fourth sign they have destroyed through negligence and stupidity. We have transferred all our freight business to another carrier.

We ordered a door and our manufacturer sent us an email telling us to thoroughly examine our package and open it before signing to make sure our door was in good shape. When delivered, the RL driver would not let us touch our package, either to open it or check the contents, until we first signed their legal document stating that the package was delivered in good condition. The corner of the box was obviously damaged (crushed) and the top had black track marks across it with rips in the box. The driver said signing only meant he was there and did not mean we were happy. Wrong, the document clearly stated we accepted the package in good condition. Once we signed, we would no longer have any legal recourse.

Driver would not allow us to have him write down or record what he said as proof but kept saying whatever we wanted to hear so we would sign and he could leave. We signed but first added that there was possible concealed damage. This is a legally binding description but Driver's company would not allow us to add this to the contract. They were obstructive, would accept no responsibility and were remarkably unhelpful. Luckily, the great company who packed the door, did an excellent job and the door was unharmed. One more centimeter and yes, the door would have been crushed on one end. Do not use this company unless you: Can record the driver's statement; the package is overprotected; you are a lawyer and don't mind fighting their inane policies.

This company is beyond uncaring and unhelpful. I purchased a very expensive glass kiln and when I unpacked it the control panel box was badly damaged. I took pictures and saved all of the packaging and it was very clear that the damage was caused during shipping. The paint from the panel had transferred onto the inside of the cardboard packaging and the pallet it came on was broken on the same side as the damage from some type of impact. They refused to come out and look at it and after two months they flat denied the claim.

I now have to send the box back to the manufacturer at my cost and be without my kiln for up to three weeks while it is repaired. When you call them for assistance they are very rude and it is clear that they truly know nothing about customer service. I will never use R & L Trucking in the future and I would not recommend them to anyone else to use either. The driver even commented on the damage to the outside of the box when it was dropped off but again, they won't even look at any of the evidence. Very sad that a company feels that they can do this to their customers. Lesson learned.

I hired R&L to move an 850 lb pallet of transaxles. They picked it up and their tracking on their website says it made it to Phx but they never delivered it to me. I called to see where it is and I'm told they don't know. I make at least 10 different calls and everyone at the company says it will turn up. For days not a single person will even make a phone call to try and find it.

After four days I receive a call from a local car builder about someone trying to sell my parts for 1/4 of what they cost, cash only, no questions. I call R&L again, no response. I sent the police to R&L's terminal and the manager sent them away! The police were told "When R&L took delivery of my parts they became liable and if had been stolen they would be the victim and they would have to report it and they are NOT reporting it." Over the next several months they have done everything to hide the employee that took my parts. They will not return my calls or emails. The police won't do anything because R&L won't give any tracking info so the police know what jurisdiction it would fall under. They took down the online tracking info. I filed a claim and they offered me $85.00. They have done everything they can to make sure I never find out who took my stuff and they never plan to pay for it.

After reading the reviews I was pretty nervous about my gun safe being delivered by this carrier. Knowing they probably deliver thousands of items weekly I wanted to give those of you considering using them (or if your seller uses them) some other perspective. Driver was on the money - called me an about 45 minutes before he arrived. Asked directions and wanted to be sure he could get his tractor trailer in/out of the neighborhood, which I thought was a fair question. He arrived on time, didn't rush me through inspecting the item and was a pleasure to talk to. I unpackaged the item, found it was undamaged, slipped the box back over the safe and my neighbor I slid it off the lift gate. No muss, no fuss. Really couldn't have gone smoother. Maybe the terminal or individual driver is what makes the difference, but getting the delivery out of the Pittston, PA terminal proved hassle free.

We purchased a motor online and the shipper chose to use R+L as their carrier. The shipper sent us pictures of the motor before it was sent and we have pictures of when it was delivered. As it was coming off the truck my husband noticed damage to the upper intake manifold and brought the driver's attention to it. His response was "This didn't happen while I was shipping this, I need you to sign for this and then you can take it up with the carrier company". He would not give us a chance to mark that it was damaged and was very unhelpful.

We contacted R+L and they requested pictures, documents, etc. and promised to get this matter resolved. I sent them over 10 pictures of before and after and showed them where the damage was clearly done after it was wrapped and tagged by their company. They didn't bother to secure the shipment whatsoever and it ended up tipping over and causing damage. The damage would cost $200.00 to replace the parts in question and they sent us a settlement request for $30.00 which was 10 cents per pound of a 300 lb. item.

I replied that we are not going to accept their request, that I would be in constant contact with them and an attorney, if need be, to acquire the appropriate funds for their negligence in proper shipping procedures. I strongly advise anyone that is purchasing something that needs to be shipped to contact the company you buy from and refuse to let them use R+L carriers as their shipper because it will only lead to damage, destruction and loss of valuable purchases and time.

I hired R&L to deliver a used machine I purchased for $2500.00. It was damaged beyond repair during shipment. I called them immediately and explained the damage. I put in a claim along with documents of payment and pictures of the damaged machine. They agreed it was their fault, yet will only pay $80.00 (10 cents per weight, 800 lbs). I am at a loss for words to describe my frustration. I am only trying to get the money I lost due to their negligence. Their blatant lack of care in addressing the damage and subsequent claim has left a feeling of violation. This assured me that R+L Carriers have no pride in what they do, and have the legal ability to damage whatever they ship beyond repair and not be held responsible. I wish I had read more reviews about this company before hiring them. I will never hire them again, nor would I recommend R&L Carriers to anyone. On January 11, 2016 I've placed an order for a large safe from Costco. On Friday, January 22, 2016 I finally received a scheduling call from the freight company, R&L Carrier advising me that the item will be delivered curb side on Monday, January 25, 2016 between 1:00pm - 5:00pm CST. My husband took the day off work to inspect the item upon arrival and my neighbor also took the day off work to assist us with moving this heavy item into our house.

At 2:30pm CST (Monday, 1/25), I received a call from the truck driver (Dale Still with R&L Carriers) stating that he is about one hour away. He questioned if he was going to be able to drive a semi 18-wheeler into our neighborhood for the delivery. I advised him that we get deliveries here all the time with trucks that size and that they can turn around at the end of the neighborhood as it is a one lane street. He advised that he will call me back when he is within 30 minutes of our residence. We've waited and waited.

At 4:55pm, I finally called him back asking where he is at. He stated that our item was in the nose of the truck. I asked him what does that mean and he advised me that he would not deliver the item today. I said that this is unacceptable as my husband and my neighbor took the day off and have been waiting all afternoon for the delivery. I told him that I would call back his dispatch and hung up the phone. I've called R&L Carriers and after 30 minutes of being transferred and on hold, I talked to the dispatch responsible for my area. I explained the situation to him and what the driver had told me and he said that he was going to get our item delivered but it would be a late delivery. I said ok and asked him to call me back when he has an approximate time of arrival. He called back about 20 minutes later stating that the driver would be there within the hour.

At 6:59pm, the driver, Dale **, calls back and says that we are supposed to meet him at a Mexican restaurant in Quinlan, TX (10 miles away) to take over the item and asks if we have a lift gate to get the item of the truck. My husband explained to him that it was supposed to be delivered curbside at our address and that we don't have a lift gate, which is something the trucking company should provide to get the item off their truck. The driver said, well he can't come out to our neighborhood and that they would need to reload the item on to a box truck and come out tomorrow. My husband hung up the phone with the driver and I called back R&L Carriers and talked with Russ, the dispatch. I told him that we can't take off further days to accept the item and that it is unacceptable the way we were treated. I also told him not to attempt to deliver the item again and to send it back to the sender.

The experience with R&L Carriers was so disappointing and outrageous; I couldn't sleep for most of the following night. Judging by the numerous complaints on this site, I'm not the only one. Why is this company still in business? Please don't waste your time and ensure that Costco does not use this carrier for any of your large item deliveries.

My company shipped a new, $172,000 piece of equipment to a customer using R & L. The machine was bolted to a heavy skid and crated. R & L tipped over the machine/crate, destroying the crate and damaging the machine to the point where it could not be used or repaired. In spite of the visible damage to the crate and machine, R & L delivered the shipment to the customer who signed for the shipment as damaged. R & L has refused to take any responsibility for the damage they caused to this shipment saying the machine was improperly crated. My company has used this method of crating for years and even ships machines internationally without a problem. I strongly recommend you do NOT use R & L Carriers.

We ordered two vanities from Costco.com--over $3k worth. R&L scheduled delivery with an 8-hour (unheard of) window. Most of lower Michigan was under a winter storm advisory. We drove a half hour to our empty house (being remodeled) to meet the delivery guys. He called and said he was 5 mins away and asked if I had guys here to get it OFF his truck? WHAT??? I said "NO" and said I was just going to have them stick the vanities in the garage anyway and not into the house. He informed me we had "tailgate delivery". I said, "no, we have curbside which means you get it off the truck and either in front of the garage or in the garage." He told me "no". So I said, "well, this was a wasted trip--I don't know how you expect ME to get it off YOUR truck for you. Just forget it. I guess just take it back since I have no way of getting it off your truck."

THEN... he says he didn't say he COULDN'T get it off the truck--he could--for a FEE, and another fee if I wanted it in the garage. I told him to forget it--I paid for delivery already and won't pay for anything more. I hung up and left the empty house in the winter storm and get a phone call from their supervisor saying it will cost extra to remove it from the truck, etc... the same song and dance. I told him "NO" and he told me that's what I signed up for. I told him there was NO way that COSTCO would ship and expect their customers to "unload it off the truck", and how did he expect the female homeowner to do this??? He responded with, "it has nothing to do with gender, ma'am... just what YOU signed up for." I told him to just take it back and I would order from some other company that DOES deliver properly.

He said, "So, you are REFUSING to accept delivery???" I said, "Yes, this is extortion and I refuse to pay you any more money and you can take the vanities back and shove them up your **." I called COSTCO when I got back to our other home and they said NONE of what R&L said was true, and we indeed paid for curbside, and THEY should have gotten it off the truck. She put me on hold to call them and R&L never picked up. She asked if I wanted to order again and I said no because R&L will be delivering again and I refuse to have to deal with them EVER.

I told COSTCO they need to know that R&L is holding their customers' items ransom until you buckle and pay them the extra money. Most people are desperate and pay, and probably never call the place of purchase and report them. We were NOT in desperate need at this moment in time and were ABLE to refuse and turn them in to COSTCO. COSTCO is a huge company and maybe if enough people complain they will put R&L out of business.

R L Carriers is horrible to deal with. Our shipment was on time & arrived to a "local" dock two and a half hours away from me. Up to this point service was just fine. I followed the shipment closely because I wanted it to make it before Christmas. Arrived the 21st at 8 am to the transfer dock. I called to make sure that the transfer company was ready and willing to bring the shipment to me. They assured me that there was room on their transfer truck and then they could get it down as soon as R L released the paperwork. They would not release the paperwork. The same thing happened for two more days.

There was a woman in the Salt Lake loading dock that just was awful. Customer service is just terrible. Our shipment has been sitting at the loading dock for 3 days and are now being told that once again they did not load the transfer truck and we will not receive our shipment for another 6 days... Worst service I have ever dealt with. Next will be to find out after reading all of their loathsome reviews, how badly damaged the shipment will be. I can't wait. We did two cross country freight shipments (full truckloads). They literally destroyed one shipment so badly that I had to transport myself and three employees to New Cumberland, Pennsylvania to remediate the order so it could be shipped. They lied about the damage they had done. It took 6 months (in part due to the military to whom it was supposed to ship) but also because R+L was not honest about what they had done to the shipment. It was rejected twice by the government. The other shipment had to be remediated, returned to our facility in California, from Pennsylvania and then shipped back to Pennsylvania on another carrier to avoid government imposed penalties for failure to fulfill the contract.

I paid for one shipment prior to knowing that it had been rejected. I refused to pay for the other shipment and they sued me and sent me to collection. I filed damage claims with pictures, and government documentation of the rejections and the reasons. They have not so much as responded to the fact that claims have been filed. This leaves me with no option but to sue. They are hiding information of whom to serve. The DOT should shut these people down.

After a long battle with them, I agree that they could just leave the box at the end of my 1/2 mile driveway even though it weighed 400 lbs. They told me that is what it would take to deliver. I finally conceded and then they still refused to deliver my shipment. I had to dispute the charges because the original company tried to charge me for the freight to me and then back to them $480. Always ask the company you are buying from who they use for delivery and check our their reviews. This was a terrible nightmare.

We submitted our claim to the original vendor. The driver denied seeing any damage and his notes had been whited-out on the invoice. Couldn't believe the lack of integrity. We should have refused the whole shipment outright or taken photos of the drivers notes on the delivery. Either would have helped us. We had 2 loads shipping out that day, both with proper Bill of Ladings attached. Their driver took the wrong load. They were to pick up a load going to Louisiana, but instead picked up the load going to California. The driver supposedly checked his paperwork against the BOL, and signed off and left with the load. As soon as we realized it the next morning, we called and they said the load was in Atlanta, and would be returned to us in NC.

Well, needless to say, it left NC, went to LA, and then on to CA. They held it hostage until we agreed to pay them and then they would deliver to our customer. Then we received the invoice, and they billed us almost 4 times the amount the load should have cost, plus they hijacked it from our original carrier. Do NOT ever do business with them. When we contacted them, their employee kindly told us she was washing her hands of us and hung up. Great people skills - NOT.

Worst service I have ever had. While they delivered on time, their driver was extremely rude and unhelpful. I had called their Austin location to set up delivery and informed them that I live in a rural area that has tiny roads and is very hilly and that we live on a hill. The driver arrives in a semi (the person I spoke to made notes asking for a box truck). When I asked the driver to bring it to the garage, he got upset and told me that's not his job and that he was leaving it down on the street. Obviously I got upset. Long story short, he left it sitting on the side of my drive, by the road on a pallet. I had to load it into the back of my SUV and take it to the garage myself.

And then on top of everything, one of the boxes had been badly damaged in transit and the side was completely open. When I took a box off, the box underneath dumped everything on the ground. It was close to 75 pounds of flooring that went all over the drive. It resulted in about 75% of the box of flooring being scratched (42 square feet = about $150 worth of flooring). I don't mind the work but I am paying for a service. And I honestly would not have minded so much if there had been even the tiniest bit of desire to help and solve the situation instead of a flat "that's not my job". A complete I don't care attitude. I have never dealt with someone like this or been treated this way as a customer to a business.

Now 23 days have elapsed since the package was delivered to their warehouse and shipment should have been made to my home. What is so ridiculous is that the shipper, R+L Carrier, is in Vallejo, CA and the deliver address is in Pleasant Hill, CA some 15 miles away. More striking is that according to the shipper tracking log this package was shipped across country over 3,500 miles in 3 days but it has taken more than 23 days to get a distance of 15 miles. I ordered something for my daughter's birthday. I called the company before ordering asking how long the shipping average is so I could order in time. Was told it's 3-4 days. I ordered a week early. I contacted them 5 days later. I was told it will be at terminal Friday but will not be delivered so I missed my present for my daughter's party on Sunday. I told her on her birthday party it will be here tomorrow and it was ok coz it was her actual birthday the next day. So Monday comes I call them at 10. They say they gave it to BSP shipping. They call them and say to me BSP will be calling within the hour to set a time for latter in the day.

3 hours go by I call back. They say they have no info saying I called and I'm told the person who said that is wrong. She then tells me to call BSP shipping. I call them. They said if R&L shipping had called them they would have delivered it today. They have no record of R&L calling them. I ask for a manager. I get manager ** at the Westbrook Maine office who gets on the phone screaming at me, calling me an idiot, swearing, and then proceeds to hang up on. I call back to get the phone picked up and immediately hanging up with out saying anything. I had to call back 4 times to get him to answer. He then answers yelling again saying they never called us. Finally giving me a chance to speak I only proceeded to ask for his bosses name. He says ** and hangs up again.

I call R&L back saying "they said you never called. Can I please speak to a manager to let them know what has been going on?" A female manager gets on. I tell her the situation. She tells me that it's not true that I never talked to anyone there or she would see it from notes in the computer when I called 2 different times. Then she proceeds to tell me that it says the BSP shipping has called and set up a delivery appointment has already been scheduled is what they had in the computers. I call BSP shipping for the appointment time. They say they can't find my package in the computer. Now she says "hold on," comes back, and says "I'm sorry I'm being told not to do anything," that the manager ** will be calling back to make an appointment...

Never in my life have I seen a business so badly run and customers so badly treated. As a business owner myself I would not stand for a manager of all people to talk or verbally assault my customer in that way especially when the customer only asked for him so he could be aware of what the employees was doing. I would hope my customers would let me know when my supervisor acted that way. I would not stand for it. So I still don't know when my package is coming and I've not been able to give my daughter her ATV for her party yesterday or for her birthday today!

I've encountered this company twice. In both cases they put all of the responsibility of delivering the goods on the customer, and try to implement penalty charges. The first complaint is that they give the customer a three day window of possible delivery dates and expect you to be home and available all three days. They require the customer to call on a daily basis if you would like to narrow the delivery window to 24 hours. Finally, the truck drivers are out to get you on penalty charges. On the day of my second delivery, the truck driver decided he didn't want to navigate my road again, so he gave us 5 minutes to receive the goods at the end of the road.

Not expecting this, I wasn't prepared to have my wife wake up my baby and drive to the end of the road to move hundreds of pounds of material in her Toyota Echo. The truck driver gleefully informed me that it'd cost us extra for a second delivery and went home. Customer service refused to talk about redelivering until they negotiated with the manufacturer their upcharge for a second delivery attempt, and the lady hung up on me when I tried to explain that the truck driver was fully capable of delivering (and had in the past), but refused to. I feel like this company uses my property as hostage, puts the responsibility of the delivery on me, and deliberately tries to charge extra on their deliveries. This is extortion, and should be illegal.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. I ordered a tub from Signature Hardware and apparently they use this company for deliveries. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. They called to schedule delivery of our tub. They told me they would be at my home between 1-5PM on a certain day. I explained we had a guard gate, gave them details and all was set. At 12:00PM on the day of delivery, I got a call from a rude, somewhat inarticulate driver. He told me that he had my tub on his truck, but he wasn't going to deliver it to me because he didn't like our guard gate because he claimed they ran his license the last time he delivered here. I have never heard of that happening, but I explained that I could not impact what my guard gate does. He said he wasn't going to deliver the tub if the gate does this. I had a whole crew here waiting for the tub, and much of our remodel depends on how the tub will be plumbed and how it will fit.

I called the company and was transferred to someone (**) who was indifferent and dismissive. He said he would call me back, which he did standing by the driver, and now saying it was "company policy" not to enter communities that run licenses. He told ME to simmer down and argued with me. He said he didn't care if I called Signature Hardware, which I did. They were apologetic and concerned. I also called our guard who told me they DON'T run licenses, but only use the license to correctly spell the last name of the person. But how much confidence do I have in a person coming into my home that doesn't want his license run, or a company that stands behind that? R & L knew we live in a gated community, and scheduled the delivery anyway.

Reviews here indicate to me that R & L seems to milk their delivery fees from the sender to the utmost degree. YELP shows myriad 1-star reviews stating how rude and unprofessional they are. At this point we are waiting to see what happens, but this was stress and rudeness that was unnecessary and unprecedented. Gated communities exist to control safety and they work for the HOA, not any specific resident. R & L told me I needed "to tell the guard to let their guy in" as if it were up to me, and then told me I was SOL if the guard would run the license. The company offered no alternative, and in the end created stress and upheaval for no reason, since they don't run licenses--pure paranoia on the part of the driver.

I would advise all the other people here that have gotten ripped off to: a) dispute it with your broker, b) file a chargeback with the credit card company you used to pay the shipping bill for the up-charges, and c) file a dispute with the BBB for R L. If there are enough BBB complaints (R L doesn't respond which also shows you their true colors), their rating will go down to an F and then no one will use them.

They just seem to want to quote me one thing, then either screw me by saying it weighs more (add to my invoice) or just add more on the final invoice. Plus they will not notify you when you put it on the BOL for advance delivery notice. BUT when they want your money......

It took over a month to arrive, calling, begging for item arrival date. Crate had a lot of empty space in regard to item, mostly foam and cardboard. Beware of low quotes, then hit with a 40 -50% additional expense after. Do your homework, check all reviews, investigate BBB before this con artist rip you off.

They corrected it and said my shipment was going to come on a Wed. I waited all day and they never came or called me. I called the next day and they said they called several times and left a note on my door, which is NOT true. So we rescheduled for Friday. They came Friday and the guy was sarcastic and rude telling me I never answer my phone and that he came twice yesterday and I wasn't home. THEY DID NOT CALL ME AND THEY DID NOT TELL ME THEY WERE COMING ON A THURSDAY. I had to provide a knife for him to get the box out. He then asked me to help carry the box because he was by himself but I am pregnancy so I didn't feel comfortable doing so. So he drag the box all the way to my door and said he can't take it in my house and left it there. Horrible experience.

After seeing a beautiful patio set, I decided to order it as a birthday gift for my mother. I was told that the order would arrive Thursday, March 12 through Tuesday, March 17. When Tuesday arrived and I still hadn't received my order, I contacted outdoor patio furniture and was told that the number that Amazon provided was an incorrect number. I had taken several days off from work anticipating the arrival of the patio set. Upon checking my Amazon account information, I found that they did have my current number as well as an old number. At that time I updated and deleted any number that was not currently attached to me. I also contacted R+L Carriers and gave them my current number along with two other numbers that I could be contacted at. It was at this time that I was told that I would be receiving a call when they were in route with my order.

I was assured that my delivery would arrive between 11 AM and 5 PM yesterday (Wednesday March 18, 2015) at which time I requested yet another day off from work, as to not miss my delivery. I reached out to the R+L Carriers yesterday at 2:56 PM and was told that my order was on the truck and they would call me when they were headed my way. I was told that the driver had been held up in the yard and was running a bit behind. At 4:08 PM I reached out to the R+L Carriers once again and was told the same thing. At 7:03 PM I call the carrier again and was told that the driver had already made it back and was done for the day.... NOT A SINGLE CALL OR EXPLANATION WAS GIVEN.

Words cannot express my sheer frustration. At this point I cannot afford to take off from work anymore. And my mother's birthday has passed and I had no gift for her.... Today I called R+L Carriers again to get a ETA on my order. I was then told that my order was not on the truck for delivery today but they will bring it tomorrow. When I explained that I could not take off from work tomorrow and that no one had called me with an explanation, the router man on the phone huffed and puffed and then proceeded to hang up in my face. I have never been so angry I disrespected in my life. I would not recommend our R+L Carriers New Orleans to my worst enemy. If you want your product delivered in a timely manner with any type of customer service, choose another carrier. R+L Carriers are horrible in every way possible.

I have time-critical shipment to Germany that has been botched badly by them three times in the last two days. Friday they did a no-call, no-show, with promises of a Monday morning pick-up. Now after multiple emails and calls, they won't be in at all today. They are blaming it on the weather and sick drivers, however I have yet to experience so many problems with any carrier. Please do yourself a favor and find someone else to move your freight, it's worth paying a few dollars more.

R&L Carriers is a shoddy business. They were contracted through Freight Center by a furniture maker I hired to custom build a desk for my wife. R&L not only handled the piece so badly that it was damaged beyond repair. They went to great lengths to hide it from us. The desk was taken off the pallet after the top and back panel had been shattered. Someone from R&L flipped it upside down, stuffed the shrink wrap under, removed the original zip ties and replaced them, added strapping and just tossed the blanket over it. Then it was covered in black plastic to hide the damage. There is even a boot print on the bottom of the drawer where someone walked on it.

Both ** and ** at R&L in Wilmington, Ohio were evasive and acted so bored by our claim that they didn't even bother to speak to me in a professional or helpful manner. Of course, they are refusing to pay for it. R&L is self-insured which means they don't ever have to pay claims if they don't feel like it regardless of how negligent they are. Despite being a national company, they do not have a Better Business Bureau accreditation, which means there is very little oversight and almost no accountability. They also have 13 (now 14) complaints filed with Ohio Attorney General for shoddy work. Buyer beware!

When the delivery hadn't arrived by 7 p.m., I called the shipper. They did not know where the tub was and told me that it would be that delivered that night. It never was delivered and they never called to explain what the problem was.

I called R&L Carriers the next day to complain about my eight-hour wait and to ask when the delivery would be made. They told me that did not know why it was not delivered as scheduled. They wanted to then schedule to deliver it on Saturday, March 7 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. I told them that I was not available to sit around that entire day, having other obligations for most of it. The shipper then told me that if I could not be present on March 7 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., they would return it to the seller. I told them to go ahead and return it. R&L has very poor customer service, zero communications with customers and is a horrible company.

We struggled to raise money to purchase a convection oven for our non-profit that utilizes a small commercial kitchen to produce meals for underprivileged and also support other non-profits. After months of searching, we found a commercial oven within our budget. R&L was chosen by the restaurant equipment supplier as the carrier. We did not know one carrier from the other. We were interested in the ovens. It is reasonable and customary to expect the freight to be handled appropriately and delivered without damage. Honestly, that is their business... to transport goods from place to place without destroying it. Pretty simple concept.

As it turned out, R&L damaged the ovens beyond serviceable use while in transit, and then concealed the damage - purposely. We signed for the property, and called within 20 minutes of noting damage after removing the concealing wrap. Let me be clear, the wrapping was not damaged. R&L personnel re-wrapped the product after the impact occurred, in an effort to deceive. All appeared well initially. Driver told us, "Oh well, you signed for it." Customer service was even worse on the phone. They could not care less, and made that obvious.

Damage Claim was filed within their time frame, but claim was denied because oven was received without noting damage. However, the damage was concealed purposely by their personnel. We know this because the seller sent us photos of their packaging after we started the claim process. The phone call to claims after it was denied was even more insulting. They laughed on the phone when we said we would argue the decision. Congratulations on ripping off ladies that run a soup kitchen. Wow, you must be so proud of yourselves! Regarding the pictures, the black plastic is what was shipped, the damage you can see. One picture of the bottom oven is what it looked like before they destroyed it. Now, the doors do not close or open. The damage is more than what it worth now. Thanks for your outstanding work. Do not trust R&L Carriers with your own shipments!

Our latest shipment was quoted 3 days, understand it's not "guaranteed," but it arrived and sat at the local terminal for 2 days before they "called to set up an appointment" (I tried to call them first but "the computer was down"). Finally on the day of I called in early to confirm delivery, it's on the truck they claimed and gave a one hour window. It was starting to get late and I called for status and they said the driver didn't bother showing up because I didn't answer a phone that didn't receive a call. R&L requires an appointment, takes their sweet time to do so, and then still doesn't show up to deliver. It's 8PM and they said they were going to deliver it today but I highly doubt that's going to happen. Every other freight company just shows up and delivers without a problem. Assuming it doesn't arrive until tomorrow that's going to be 7 days for a shipment quoted as being 3 days.

Had a snow blower delivered by R & L, and although the merchandise was in excellent condition, the service provided by R & L was completely outrageous. I had to work, I wanted to be there, but figured it wouldn’t be a huge problem. I paid $50 extra for lift gate service. That $50 got my snow blower from the back of the truck to the street. That’s it! That’s where the driver wanted to leave it, a 300 lb box, on the street, in the rain. They call themselves a curbside delivery company. What kind of BS is that? Can you imagine your kitchen appliance store leaving your new refrigerator in the street in front of your house?

So my wife calls me in a panic, she puts the driver on the phone, and he basically tells me he's not obligated to put it where i want him to, because at R & L, they're not interested in complete customer satisfaction. I say to him, so you're just going to leave my 300lb, $1100 snow blower in the street? This is outrageous! He tells me to call the office. The woman on the phone was no help either, keeps telling me they are a curbside delivery company. After complained a little more, she says "Ugh we get this all the time"....um, so fix it!? She puts me on hold and never comes back.

They're a delivery company, just not a deliver it all the way company. After 20-30 minutes of this back and forth nonsense, and by the grief stricken look on my wife's face (she was practically in tears), he decides to put the 300 lb box in my garage. Just like he should have done when it came off the truck. Not much more effort, and it makes the customer happy. I don’t have a 100 foot gravel driveway, it's very well paved. Needless to say I was pretty livid. If you're buying something online, check the delivery company. If it's R & L, go somewhere else. R & L, change your motto to, "We're not interested in your satisfaction."

They say they are equipped for larger crates but my husband had to use his own skid loader to unload it from the truck!! I didn't have a choice in carriers as the company my crate came from was trying them as a shipper. If you have the choice, I would use a real freight company for your shipping needs!

Today my family received a delivery from Emergency Essentials Orem, Utah via one of your trucks out of Richmond, VA. I am physically handicapped and at home daily. My 18-year-old daughter answered the doorbell while I answered an out of state phone call. The driver's presence was unknown to me. The delivery constituted one palette of approximately 600-800 lbs of emergency dry food stores. We live at the top of an inclined driveway three cars length long. The driver refused to back up the truck and unload the palette within our driveway. Instead he said to my daughter, "I guess you better go get some neighbors to help," and then promptly dropped the palette in the open roadway in the line of traffic since she had already signed the paperwork. He then speedily departed.

Minutes later, I found my 113lbs daughter desperately trying to haul 55-65lbs buckets and cases up the inclined driveway into our garage, at which time she collapsed and the palette (which she had lifted to remove it from the roadway) fell over on top of her causing a large abrasion on her arm. This is not Manhattan or a large city where there is no place to unload a delivery except in the roadway. The bottom of the driveway is relatively flat. The driver could have at least used a palette jack to move the palette of goods five to ten feet to get it out of traffic. No one was asking him to remove the shrink wrap and unload the palette item by item or even place it in our garage just to place the palette within the driveway itself. The driver was most unhelpful, rude and discourteous.

As a result of such poor customer service concerning this delivery, I feel the right thing to do is to refund the $12 shipping fee paid at minimum. I am sure you base your business on customer satisfaction and assume repeat customers ensure your company's continued success. However, it is completely unacceptable to leave any delivery in the direct line of traffic in the roadway of any residential neighborhood. As a result of this experience, I would be very reluctant to ever use or recommend your service or the vendor Emergency Essentials ever again.

I ordered an item from NYC. The vendor chose this carrier. Worst service you can imagine. It's their way or highway. They will charge more for their own fault! They will hold hostage any of the items if they don't get their way. I would never recommend this sorry company. Make sure the vendor will not use this carrier on next purchase!

Horrible service. We set up a delivery with R L and paid for it in advance. When we received our shipment, we saw that they destroyed our shipment. When we put in a claim, they gave us the runaround for weeks. I sent in all photographic proof and documentation. They gave us an offer for our claim that was laughable. I basically paid them to destroy my merchandise and force me to order it again, pay for it again and pay for a different, reliable carrier to deliver it. Thank you R L for making me waste $600. Karma will find you! Own up to your mistakes, make your customers happy. You don't give a crap in any people you service. I hope that people see this and listen to my warnings! I wouldn't recommend you to my worst enemy! Absolutely horrible!

I purchased a used transmission from an auto shop in PA. They chose R+L Carriers to deliver it to my auto shop in Southern California. After an unexplained delay of nearly two days, the 150 pound item was picked up from the shop and taken to a local terminal around noon, on Friday, 2/04. I was able to confirm this by tracking the item on the R+L website. The expected delivery date was listed as 2/10. That gave them four days, not counting the weekend. Even though the trucks usually do travel on the weekend, they just don't usually load and unload.

Two days later, I called the company to ask why there was no new entry in their system when I tracked the item. I was told that my freight had not moved. After sitting over the weekend in the terminal, it sat there for another two days! There was no explanation or apology ever given for this clear lapse in the responsibility of the shipper. They told me that I would be called when the freight was delivered to the nearest terminal to the freight's destination so they could schedule delivery. I explained that the freight was to be delivered to a business that is open from 7 am to 6 pm (often earlier and later, but I played it safe), and that I did not want the delivery slowed down by having to schedule the delivery. They should deliver it as soon as possible during those hours.

After entering a complaint through the R+L website, a rep from the nearest terminal to my freight's destination called me to explain that they would call me as soon as they received my item, so they could schedule the delivery. I again explained that they should not do that. Apparently, the first person I had spoken to in customer service had not made the notation in the system, or the person from the local terminal didn't read it. I told them it would be great to receive a call to tell me that the item had been received, and roughly when it would be delivered. I just didn't want it to sit and wait for an appointment to be made. Anyway, my freight was finally delivered four days after the latest day it should have been delivered, on Monday, 02/14. Fortunately, the owner of the shop was kind enough not to charge me storage for the prolonged time my car sat waiting for the tranny. And my wife and I were able to minimize my need to rent a car to just three days. I asked for a discount, but none was ever offered. By the way, I paid $250 for this service. It's clearly a premium rate for very poor service.
