If there was a rating lower than one star, this Dollar Tree should receive it. I am 63 years old and have NEVER been screamed at, called a liar, and totally disrespected in such a manner. On 3/21/16 @ 14:28 I went to Dollar Tree Store #147 to purchase a few monthly items. When I arrived at the check-out there were 2 cashier lights lit so I asked Sales Associate ** if the other register was open because the lady in front of me was taking awhile. She said, "Yes, it was open." And called out loudly several times to the sales associate not at her register with the light on.
I started placing my items on the conveyor belt and another sales associate (**) walked past and I asked her if she was working the register. She looked at me and kept walking. I again asked LaToya if the sales associate was coming and she again yelled out for the associate with no response. After the second associate (**) had helped 2 ** customers she then said to me, "I can help you." Please note that when I arrived at the registers there was only one customer in front of me and no one else in line. By the time she called me to her register all the lines had 2-3 people in the lines. The only thing I said to ** was, "I would like to speak with a supervisor." She said, "His name was **." I said again, "I would like to speak with him." Susan yelled again and ** came out of the office.
As I attempted to give him my version of the incident and what had transpired, ** at the top of her voice interrupted me and screamed at me saying, "YOU ARE LYING. If you're going to tell it, tell the truth!!!" I told her to stop yelling at me as I had not said anything to her. And that she would I'm sure receive an opportunity to tell her story. She continued to scream at me saying, "I'm sick of YOU PEOPLE!!" I asked her what she meant by, "You People?" And she said, "YOU PEOPLE coming in here lying on me and creating problems." ** repeatedly instructed her to stop her behavior, but she repeatedly ignored him and continued to attempt to engage me in an argument. I refused to do so, but did tell ** it was clear to me that ** was out of control and even in his presence with him giving her direct instructions to stop her behavior she couldn't even control herself in front of him.
Even if ** did not agree with my assessment of what took place, her actions afterwards were way worse than her initially ignoring me. As a customer who has spent thousands of dollars annually at various Dollar Tree stores and to experience such treatment warrants a complaint filed with Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau as well as the phone call that I placed to the Dollar Tree Headquarters on 03/21/2016.
This employee ** was extremely volatile, yelling, screaming, ignoring her supervisor after he repeatedly told her to stop is a powder keg waiting to blow up and presents a dangerous situation to the public as well as her employer. Because of **'s inability to control her anger I told ** that I would be filing a more formal complaint to their headquarters and before he could respond, ** again yelled, "I DON'T CARE!!!"
Note: No apology was offer by **, except to say he had just gotten to work and that he would talk to **. That was the store's "BEST PRACTICE" approach to a valid customer complaint. ** never bothered to get my name or contact number for a follow-up. It appears that ** runs that particular store and not the current Supervisor/Manager. Especially since ** was present during her rant as well as countless other customers. Store #147, is located at 7390 Bell Creek Rd. Suite 308A, Mechanicsville, VA 23111-3545.

I waited outside while my teenage sons went inside the store to buy drinks. My younger son came out to car and said "the lady accused me of stealing." I went in the store and asked the two cashiers there who accused my son of stealing. I said it multiple times--they ignored me. I got upset one cashier calls on intercom for an Alicia. A woman about 6ft 2in came up to me and said "yeah I did real mean." I told her I want all names. I was holding the exit door while I told them I am making a complaint of how unprofessional they are and the lady grab door too and said "get out." She stood close to my face. I asked "why are you in face and so close to me?" She got closer and looked straight in my eyes. I prepared myself to be hit.
My son told her "why are you so close to my mom's face like that?" My other son said "you're in her face like you want to fight her." So she finally walked away. I said "now I want cops to come." She told police dispatch and said I threatened her. Well a police officer came and that was no help. I finally got a report number. I felt embarrassed and scared I prepared to be hit. Later that evening I literally got sick. My son was paying for our drinks. I told "no we're going somewhere else."

My grandson had to use the bathroom. There was a sign that said out of order on the door. Not being able to wait, I took him anyway. There was nothing wrong with the bathroom, so I decided to use it also. The manager followed us to the bathroom, and opened the door while I was using it. I was so angry at him. When it came time for me to check out, he was the one to check me out. I told him there was nothing wrong with the bathroom. He said they had the right to do that, and that I could have gone somewhere else. He said "I am not going to argue with you, and you can pay now". After scanning my items, I decided not to buy anything from there. I am still very furious. I feel like I could sue him for opening the door to the bathroom that was not broken. A young girl used the bathroom right after me.

I am very disappointed in my experience with Dollar Tree's online ordering and customer service. Last month I ordered three boxes of items. Within a week, one box arrived for me to pick up at a locate Dollar Tree store. The manager was very nice. He called corporate and I called customer service to find out where the rest of the order was. I was told it would arrive the next week. Okay not big deal. So the next week, I stopped by to pick up my other two boxes, but they had not arrived. The manager again was very nice and said he would call me when my order arrives. I waited another week before calling customer service again.
This time I was told someone would call me back and no one did. Another week went by, so I called again. I was told someone would call me back. This time I didn't believe them and that brings us to today. As soon as I got off work, I called again. This time someone could help me but the news was not good. The products I purchased are now sold out... they had the products when I ordered them and they had the products a week after my order came in, but now they DON'T. That means my order was given away! One of the boxes was stuff for my wedding a couple months and all the lady would say is "sorry". Saying sorry does not get me the products that I purchased a month ago or given me back the time I spend on the phone and in the store looking for my order.

Yesterday night when me and my two minor sons visited the Dollar Tree store located at 165 Rohrerstown Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603 we encountered a very undesirable situation. While my nine year old son was trying sunglasses, the employee ** was locating new ones in the display. I explained to her my son was trying to look how he looked in the mirror to what her reaction was "oh ** I'm sorry." Amazed by her reaction I laughed and added "oh well that was spontaneous."
We continued to look through the sunglasses and ** kept moving the display making it hard for us to pick between them. I politely explained to her that we were trying to select another pair of glasses but she kept turning it. Her response was extremely disrespectful with an awful unfriendly attitude. She stated "I have a job to do, I need to finish this." After informing her that was not the way you treat and talk to a customer she kept repeating she had a job to do and needed to finish.
After the exchange of words her attitude escalated and after turning my back she called me a **. My nine year old son heard it so clearly he was surprised and questioning me why would she call me like that and treated us the way she was. Mr. ** according to his name tag was the manager. Stated he was "trying" to hear the conversation but couldn't. After explaining to him and asking him to file a formal complaint he said he would take care of it but did not provide me with any type of form to file nor even asked for my name. This was not only an unfortunate interaction with an employee but also a very bad experience with my son which also has special needs. I will be looking forward to talk to someone and make sure this matter is taken care of.

Waynesboro, PA store #3151. I bought 7 balloons and paid for them. I didn't take them out to my car then because I was parked far away and I was afraid the extreme wind would tangle the ribbons and damage the balloons. I went out to my car and drove it to the front of the store so I could run in and get my balloons. When I came back into the store, another clerk yelled at me in front of two lines of customers. She told me to move my car immediately. I explained I was just getting my balloons. She said she didn't care. I was breaking the law and, again, told me to move my car. Incidentally, the last time I was at this store, the same clerk was mean and nasty to me. I couldn't believe it! I love shopping at this Dollar Tree because it's very clean, organized and in a great location, but because of these two negative encounters with the same employee, I've decided not to return to this Dollar Tree, but to shop at a Dollar General store a mile farther away.

I have called more than three times to the Santa Clara Dollar Tree store. The person who answers the phone by the name of Jim is very impolite, verbally intrusive and impolite. I called the store to speak to the manager or assistant manager on 2/4/2016 at 8:00am. Upon asking to speak to the manager, he stated she was not in and was not sure when she would be in. I asked the name of the manager in which he told me he could not give out the name. So I then asked again when she might be in. He then told me he did not know. I replied okay, that I would call back. I called back about 15 minutes later to try to get some follow up information only to find the line was busy for more than 45 minutes straight.
Finally he (Jim) answered. When I asked if the assistant manager was in, he replied that he was the assistant manager. I repeated, "you are the assistant manager?" In which he replied, "well I opened the store today." When I asked when the assistant manager would be in he asked me, "and you are?" I just replied with, "I will call back later today." The purpose of my call was directed to a manager or assistant manager. I felt Jim does not represent the professionalism of the Dollar Tree's mission statement as a retail store. My past experiences with other DT stores has been very good. Seems Jim has put a wall up around in regard to contact with the in-store management team for some unknown reason.

I placed an order on Jan. 27 and received an email from them the next day, informing me that my order is cancelled. I asked for an explanation, they did reply but without the explanation that I was asking for. Instead, in a rude way it responded, "We have a right to cancel an order for any given reason listed below in our terms and conditions." I did go to that page and saw nothing that could be applied to my order, and so I asked again why did they cancel my order because I just don't find any fault. Finally, here's their response: "Dollar Tree only ships to the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. The order was placed outside of the US and was cancelled for that reason." My jaw dropped. They say that they ship to 50 United States, but cancelled my order even if the shipping address is in CALIFORNIA, just because it was placed outside the USA? How st*pid was that answer.
DOLLAR TREE, if you don't want buyers from outside the USA, BLOCK payments abroad! Why did you take my money then but you don't want to ship my order? What kind of st*pidity is this? FYI, I've been buying in the US online since 2010 and never had this kind of st*pid problem from any US sellers until I went to your online store! What kind of logic is that? You can ship anywhere in the US but you can't ship my order to California and cancelled it, just because I placed it outside the US? And the biggest joke is this - you TOOK my money even if I live outside the US even if you don't sell to people outside the US? Why you didn't block the payments from buyers like me if this is your st*pid policy? I don't care about your lame policies, all I care about is that you took my money, and I got nothing from your rude and unprofessional staff but stress!
Instead of using this money which is almost $200 to buy from other US sellers, I have to wait for almost a month now to get it back to my bank account! And don't you say sorry for the inconvenience that you've caused because I can't use your apology to pay for my online purchase!!! You have the most ST*PID system ever. Whoever replied to my emails was a coward person who's so afraid to respond to angry customers! SHAME ON YOU! I can compare you to a thief! If I could only slap your management on the face I would because of what you've done to me! You have the most biased, unprofessional and coward management EVER! Your policy sucks and is so illogical! Dollar Tree @ 78th & Portland, Bloomington, MN. Night of 1/25/16. 9:30-9:50 pm. Had a few items to buy. Was stocking up, but wanted a pair of reader eyeglasses. Manager on her cell many minutes. At 20 min to 10, she paged closing in 20 minutes. 9 minutes later she paged - "Go to register and check out." I definitely wanted the glasses & needed a few of the remaining 10 minutes to choose 1.
She demanded I check out now. I opted to leave with $18.00 of items in the cart. I offered the male clerk that he could ring what I have already, while I check out the glasses. She refused to let me shop in the final 10 minutes. The clerk said, "We get in trouble is we ??? late." Neither were helpful, polite or kind. As I left, the Female manager was grinning that she just wasted my time in carting up 18 items & forcing me to leave w/out the last item.
The manager said to me as I exited, "It's called being considerate of others". Does she think it was considerate to force a customer to leave, because she may have personal things to do. I guess my $$$ is no good there. The clerk ?'d as, "Are you just going to leave this?" Having been a loyal customer of Dollar Tree & this location, the treatment was very degrading & mean. I no longer desire to shop at what was a convenient location for me. I hope your upper management is better. I would be fired if I treated anyone like that.

My finger was in a lot of pain and swelled up, was bruised for a week and left a black mark on my nail. However, I did not choose to get medical treatment. I immediately notified the manager and completed a customer complaint form which was forwarded to the corporate office.
I received a call 1 week later and was promised that I would receive a $50 gift card in the mail to use at my local Dollar tree to compensate me for my injury and inconvenience. It has been 4-5 months and I have not yet to receive my gift card. I reached out to Dollar Tree corporate office and left a voicemail. I have no received a call return for several weeks now. 2-3 years ago I took my bike trailer into their store which was against their policy. I was told to leave. As I had been told not to do this previously I was fine with that. I continued to use the store after that for the next 2 years with no problems. Then one day I was told to leave the store for good as I was banned. I wanted to simply talk to the manager as to why, as I had been using the store for a while since and further was using a bike trailer. What's a reason to ban me forever?
One employee who was clearly disturbed, I believe his name was Arsenio, was irrational & threatening me with physical violence just for asking the question. I finally talked to someone else there and she simply refused me an explanation and told me to leave. I related this in much greater detail to corporate twice on their complaint form with no response. I've had numerous other bad experience with their employees. Their management must be stupid as all their employees have done is cost them business from me over a trivial matter. Hiring people who are mentally ill and potentially violent is also really stupid. I ordered solar items on 12/1 which were never filed by Dollar Tree online ordering. A label was produced on 12/10, I got an e-mail that the order had shipped but when I pulled up the tracking number it said it was never picked up by UPS. They charged my CC on 12/14. I called customer service on 12/16 and all they could tell me was the same info I could see on the internet. They told me the order was filled and shipped on 12/10, yet it was not because UPS never got the box. On 12/17, I saw those items were "returned" yet no contact from them about that or any credit on my account. I called today (12/17, the 3rd phone call, 4th person) and Crystal told me that the items were "returned". I asked them does that mean that I will never get these items since they were "returned". She avoided that question.
So I asked again since I didn't have anything to return yet the product ordered was in a returned status, does that mean I will never get my order? She said it appears that way. So their process is to print a label, e-mail you that the product is shipping, charge your credit card and don't send the product because "they are out of stock and will not be getting any more this year". I was told the distribution center may print a label but they may not have it stock when it comes to be filled. They (eventually) credit you back, but I don't know when that would have been if I had not called. They said they don't have the items packed when they print the label and sent the tracking info to UPS. I am not convinced that they were in any rush to credit me back either.
So I am out that money for a week because even when they do get that credit to my account, it won't be out of a pending status for 3 to 5 days. I was told by Crystal today that she was seeing a lot of this active in the last few days. On my 1st call, I talked to I believe DeLinda, who transferred me to Cheryl who said she would contact the distribution center and that she should get an answer in about an hour. I made a 2nd call (3 hours later) and Cindy told me Cheryl had sent the info to the other department but it usually takes up to 24 hours to get a response. I expressed my anger very nicely. She told me I could cancel the order and try and find the item in the store. I said I if I could find them in the stores, then I wouldn't have had to order them online and that I still wanted them.
Last year I ordered solar holiday items and they came in an over-sized box with no protection. Luckily, nothing broke. These are just my complaints about the online... Now to the stores... They are always messy, partly because of the customers, mostly because they are understaffed. I understand I am only spending a dollar, but most of the stuff hardly lasts only a day before it breaks or is gone.
I had a friend that used to manage a store and she would spend 50 to 60 hrs a week on salary just so her store was clean. In return they crapped on her, by having ridiculous exceptions of what days she could not take off and when her assistant quit, they never replaced him. She then had to be there almost all the hours the store was open because her part-time assistant quit too. They wouldn't bring in any extra help and this was around Christmas. I worked retail for 33 years and have never heard of a company policy that say you can't have valentine's day off if you are a manager. And you could never take a day off when you needed it even though your assistant was able to work the hours instead.

OK, short and quick - I like Dollar Tree. They have a good selection of crap, and are good in a pinch for that cheap sundry item(s) you might need to get. Cashiers are generally friendly and helpful. But... Went there last night. Bought some food products. Amazed and very disappointed in the quality and the quantity. Just a few notes of concern: Their 'Stars and Stripes' soda - We buy the diet occasionally and actually like the taste. However I noticed that the bottle has changed since the last time we bought the product. This is their big '3 Liter' soda pop bottle. On further inspection when I got home I found that the soda was 93 ounces, which is 2.75 liters. The new bottle looks like a fat two liter bottle with a regular sized cap. The old bottle was wider and had the bigger cap. Tea Bags, 100 count. - We get cheap tea when we can to make fresh brewed iced tea, because we go through it.
Anyways their 'All Natural Tea' 100 count tagless box of tea bags were almost the size of a postage stamp... (I'm exaggerating a bit), but the thing is, on further investigation the box size is the same as your normal box of Lipton tea, 100 count. But Lipton's is 8 ounces, compared to Dollar Tree's 3.52 ounces. I needed 15 bags to make a pot of tea in our ice tea maker. Tea tastes good, but a bit of a rip. Their award winning 'Columbia' American pasta. Same looking size box as any you would get in a supermarket, like Ronzoni, Barilla or even their own store brand which are usually all 1 pound boxes (16 ounces). Dollar Tree's Columbia spag weighs in at 13.25 ounces... Another slight of hand rip to just be aware of.
Their "Orchard Park" coffee creamer. Bought French Vanilla by mistake. Ughhh... OK. When I opened this, the 7 ounce container was less than half full. Seriously. I mean, it's a small container, but again just be aware - Oh, and the taste is horrible. Tastes like powdered mercury metallic imitation vanilla extract. The horror... the horror...
Their "Mountain High" roasted ground coffee actually is not putrid, but somewhat palatable. It's distributed through Tennessee, but is a product of Vietnam. I'm not sure what the Vietnamese know of making coffee, but they need some practice. Small 6 ounce bag claims to make 40 cups, but I highly doubt it. Ok, that's it for now. I guess it is always buyer beware, but companies can be very sneaky and can fool even the trained person. I still like Dollar Tree, but maybe not for any consumables anymore. Disappointed more so in myself I guess for falling for the ruse. (And never food shop when you're hungry!) Peace!

I personally shopped at the Dollar Store for 30+ years without an issue. However, I normally just go to one store. Now, I gave a dollar to their "feed the kids." Every time I go in there is "give to this or that." If I had extra money to give then I would not be going to the Dollar Store! I finally told the lady "Please stop asking me." I get comments "Oh he does not have an extra dollar." Other comments of discontented of me not giving a dollar. Well, I give in other ways to kids, people on the street, etc... I finally told the lady that it is not her concern what I did with my money; she said "How rude"; etc. I do not even think they have proper permits etc. to be asking for donations and how do we even know they give donations? I am just dissatisfied that I was being harassed.

Just came from my 3rd day of work at Dollar Tree in Cranberry, (Venango County) Pennsylvania in tears. I was treated so disrespectfully that this was probably my last day. While I have previous retail experience it has been 20 years since I was behind a cash register. I am much more comfortable merchandising. And this was discussed at the interview before I was hired.
With maybe 15 minutes of register refresher I was placed by myself on the register (the only cashier) and when I asked a question about the debt/credit card machine so that I could process a customer's purchase the manager Denise acted like I was imposing on her and loudly kept saying I already knew what to do. I had never processed a transaction like this before and I informed her of this. She continued to act like it was a bother to show the "new" employee how to do something. I know that my family needs this money but I don't know how I can continue. I think I will be pounding the pavement looking for something I can tolerate.

We shop Dollar Tree frequently due to the convenient location. The employees are always friendly. However, store #4106 located at 1014 Westport Road Kansas City, Mo. 64111 is always messy. Items are all over the floor and there are large areas of stained carpet. There seems to be a lot of merchandise that needs to be put on the shelves since it is always stacked in the aisles. The shelves have large spaces of missing items. I can understand the appeal of candy and how it can be quickly depleted; but, empty shelves in the cleaning products area is hard to understand. This store could sell so much more merchandise if it was on the selling floor. We have shopped Dollar Tree stores throughout this area and in other states. Westport is truly the most unkempt store.

I have had the first, and worst experience with a Dollar Tree store today. I purchased 2 frames from a Dollar Tree. Got home to fix and noticed only after removing the plastic wrap that the corner glass of the frame was broken and missing. The second frame, after removing the plastic wrap was dug into. I just purchased it 2 hours ago, still had all original packaging, receipt, bag. Went to a closer Dollar Tree, Store #3489 to exchange for good frames. I still needed 2 frames. Cashier proceeds to tell me pretty much that is too bad, no returns or exchanges once opened. You could not tell they were broken/damaged until you open it!!! She said as a courtesy she will take back the one with the missing corner glass, but the other it's too bad. Yes it is a Dollar, but It is the principle of the thing. That is terrible customer service.
I have been a loyal customer of this company for years, this is really the first problem I have had with merchandise, and I must say I am not impressed at all. It took one dollar to taint a good customer, it will also take that dollar to change the minds of how many people that were in the store to hear how you are treated after you spend that dollar with this company. I asked to speak to a manager and the cashier said "I am the manager", that in itself was a turn off that a chosen manager would conduct themselves in that manner. The whole experience was eye opening and a true turn off. I would truly hope that today was not a representation of the company as a whole. I go to email company on website, Note the small box they give as message, it is not to be title of message, but actual message. Lesson learned. I Tried to send detailed message, They blocked my email address.

OMG, I have had the worst experience with Dollar Tree. My car was damaged in a parking lot directly in front of a Dollar Tree store. My car was hit so hard that there was paint and several dents on my car. I tried to find out information and there were two people kind of standing in front of the store making negative comments so I ignored them and went into the store to find out what I need to do. This poor lady was trying to help me and someone else at the same time. She told me that the assistant manager was outside. I was like "OMG", the lady standing out there she said "yes". I am like "she won't help", she has already been very negative. So with little information I secured a police report.
Found Dollar Tree's corporate number and called. They gave me the insurance name and told me an adjuster would call within two days. That was on Thurs. 8/6/15. No one called on Monday so I called again and they said they would have an adjuster call me Tues 8-11-15. Well true to their word an adjuster called and asked me how many carts and I tried to tell him that the parking lot is different and it wouldn't matter how many carts and it was not something I paid attention to. He was like "oh well we are not paying your claim, it is our policy not to pay claims if it doesn't look like the store is not cleaning up carts." I was like "how could I tell", and he was like "it doesn't matter". I then said he was being ignorant and why was he being ignorant. He was not listening to the situation and then he said that he didn't have to take the personal attack (me saying he was being ignorant), and then he hung up on me.

Dollar Tree in Antioch Ca is the most horrible company I have EVER worked for. The company care nothing about their employees. They overwork their employees, Ask them to do unreasonable tasks, If you are closing, they expect you to clock out, but stick around while the manager on duty finishes his or her duties because everyone has to leave at the same time. If I am off at say 9:30 pm, I have to clock out at that time but stay in there in the store 15 or 20 minuets till the manager is done with his or her duties.
I would venture to say 45-50 percent of the costumers come in to steal, I have see it with my own eyes. They expect you to confront the customer, which is dangerous because we are not trained police officers. And if you see someone steal something and go after that person out the door, Dollar Tree will back the customer and fire the employee! I was having a birthday party for my son. The theme was Mario and I had already pre-purchased 2 foil gold star balloons from Party City. On the day of the party I picked up the cake then headed next door to Dollar Tree to have these TWO balloons filled with helium (as I have done many times before for $1.00 each - same price as if I had bought the balloon there). The cashier informed me that they no longer did that and the balloon had to be purchased there. OK, so what do I do now? I simply looked at the balloons they sold and saw golden star balloons so I said... "I will take 2 of those blown up please." She says "We are out of those." Ok, so I asked to speak with the manager. I explained to her my situation and that I would gladly buy the balloons from them, only they do not have them in stock and asked if they could make an exception since this was new policy and they were out of the one I needed and she looked at me and said "No."
I did not have time to find another place to blow them up so my son had no balloons at his birthday party. My issue here is it was only 2, I was going to pay normal price for them. I offered to buy more balloons but they were out and I go in there on Valentine's day and they have 200 balloon blown up and probably half of them won't even sell but a manager did not value my business enough to say "I can do it this time since we are out of the balloon you want but in the future all balloons have to be purchased from the store at the time of inflation." I left the rest of my items I was going to purchase there and will not be back.

On May 31, 2015 at 2:00 PM, I visited this store to make my regular Sunday newspaper purchase. Before purchasing, I checked the newspapers standing across from the cashiers and in plain view of the cashier, to make sure that the coupon inserts were still in the newspaper. During check out, one of the employees approached me and rudely accused me of stealing the coupon inserts. This employee made a scene and accused me of stealing other coupon inserts and inserting it into the newspaper that I wanted to purchased. This employee did not identify herself and did not have a name tag. This has been going on for a long time and I pretty sure I am not the only one complaining. Guess your company does not have any pride on how there stores look. Bottom line is it’s not the hourly employee’s fault. It starts at the management level which is the manager who is at fault if she does not have taken pride in her store she needs to be let go and someone else bought in. Far I can see she blames others for what is happening and this is not right. Guess I will travel little further and go to a 99 Cent store. I have started receiving less hours, along with other sales associates, due to more employees being hired and a district manager implementing one day a week for each associate, but that only includes myself and another employee.
Otherwise, the store is very clean, associates know the store well, customers are kind, and the management system is pretty good. I have heard different information on different topics from my assistant store managers, but have handled it. I know we are getting a store manager in the next 7 weeks or so, and am glad about that. He was dismissive and continued to go about doing the nothing that he was doing.
Certainly, he was not at all concerned about providing basic, let alone outstanding, customer service to anyone. ** finally spoke in clear audible tones and stated that ** is on break, to which I responded how can she be on break if she is still working moving batteries and balloons and such. I don't know where to start, there's SO MANY issues with this company. I worked at the S.College, Fort Collins, CO location. The manager has NO management skills. The DM for this district will accuse you of being an instigator if you bring up issues related to the manager. If you don't brown nose enough, or you question things, or say no, they'll write you up in effort to terminate or make you walk. It's possible you'll be scheduled to work within a couple hrs of your last shift, you will do your job + everything else no one else was held accountable to finishing, and you'll be wrote up if you don't.
I was denied my sick pay when I had a fresh 80 hours, instead they tried to write me up for excessive absences. I refused and when asked for explanation via the handbook, there was none. Wasn't even asked for my doctor excuse. Which is another issue itself - if you give this company any personal info, it will sit out on the desk for months, yes even SS & ID copies, so everyone knows your business. I walked after 2 yrs. NEVER in my life have I done that but when you are so stressed and having anxiety attacks without even being there, it's time to go.
Upon my leaving, apparently a deposit went missing. Well the DM called me accusing me & called the cops. They came to my house, spoke with me, found me in the right, shook their heads and left. I've yet to receive an apology. They don't care about their employees, they say 98% of all theft is from the employees??? I watched by as on the daily this store is robbed which you're not allowed to stop them unless you know the specific item they stole. There's no time when there's only 2 of you working. Oooh and after a yr, you're only worth .20 cents with a good review. Beware before you work or shop for this company.

Went to hair supplies to help daughter pick more her age head band. As we're looking son broke a mirror with long object he reached for and lady worker said "I'll clean it." I offered to pay. She said no. Worker left to return with broom. Very rudely worker said, "You know that bag was suppose to be left at a register not here with you." I said, "Oh my bad. I didn't even think about it sorry."
About to do what I was told I noticed her standing with another lady worker as both were staring and talking when I saw them both. I was a lil confused like I'm gonna take it my bag to the front. I then said to my girl, "You know what? How about we go somewhere else with more options?" She said ok. Already outside I hear, "Um I need to see in your bag. You were seen putting items in your bag." "You're right. My son open the toy he just bought and I put the pieces in my bag." She yelled and said, "Did you hear me?" I said, "Did you not hear me? My son bought a toy right?" "I don't know." I said, "Then you should go back inside. Get your fact straight instead of just accusing me." She said, "You guys are not allowed back."

I am disappointed in the way I was treated while trying to use 2 coupons at one of your stores. The manager refused to try to get them to go through. All he said was he couldn't override them, and walked away. I took the same coupons to another store and the cashier took her time and got them to scan. I was disappointed because my family spends a lot of money at this store. It wasn't about money because I know everything is a dollar or less, it's the principle of how I was treated.

The management should have some training in being just a lot nicer to employees. I found them to be over bearing and rude most time, and off the wall comments when they do an audit on the drawer, like "just want to make sure you are not taking the car payment", not cool at all. And this was said in front of a customer.

There are 2 Dollar Trees in Russellville AR. The new store across from Krogers has the meanest and most rude people I have ever dealt with. Will never go back in that store. However the older store is a mess mostly from how many shoppers they get. They run out of great supplies or no longer have them. That is a downer but the cashiers make up for it. The management is hardly ever seen. The stalkers is mostly cashiers and don't get paid enough in my books from all they have to deal with.
I have seen many cashiers' faces go from bright smiles to fake trying to smile when the management would make a rare show. Something is wrong and needs to be seen to ASAP. As for the new store I don't mind paying more so I am treated right. If our money is not wanted keep that store the way it is. I am the 7th child of 9, and I have 5 of my own with over 25 nieces and nephews. My children like your PB and strawberry jelly. But they can and will eat other brands.

The store I work at has issues, Store manager drinks on job every day and is verbally abusive to employees and customers. I reported this to district manager several times, nothing is done. She sits in office all day and then takes credit for the work the employees do. Was told I have no right to contact the DM or Customer care hotline for anything, that I'm just a measly employee and can be replaced fast. Store employees are stealing and taking freight out back door. I was told I needed proof and it's my word against their's. So I guess when inventory comes around and the numbers aren't right. It's on her. Plus she doesn't abide by store policies, like when to pull expired product and how to mark down product with gun so it shows why that product was marked down. She just blocks out the bar code and throws it in a cart for .50 cents.
When I told her what she needed to do, she said "I'm the store manager not you and I make my own rules". She also talks about sexual stuff to the other store employees, which can be gross at times! Found out she's changing the time clock, another employee said that he worked 40hrs and she docked him 3-5 hrs, so she wouldn't get in trouble with DM. Been with DT for 7 yrs and like my job, if the manager would stop drinking and stealing not only product but changing time clock. Seems like DM and Dollar Tree don't care about any of it!!

I went into Dollar Tree store in Arnold, MO, unaware of the store policies, to return party supplies, $20.00 worth, and less than 2 weeks after I bought the merchandise, and was not seasonal. When I went to the cashier (blonde long hair) which was very rude and harsh, stating I cannot return these items, I can only have merchandise, I don't need any other merchandise and I just would like to have my cash back. I do not need these party supplies for anything now or in the future. Please note my daughter was with me and could not believe how the cashier responded to me. Policies can be broken. As I see on the bottom of the receipt they only do exchanges, no refunds...I still do not agree.
Most of the employees do not have manners, and they cannot even say, "Excuse me." They expect the customer to move around them. What in the hell has happened to the customer service world? I have sent 3 messages in Dollar Tree website, and I have not received any replies from them. If this is the way they are going to do business, then I don't want anything to do with them. So this is how they handle complaints, by not answering their messages. SO DISSATISFIED... They can take my cash and not give it back. I'm sorry but there are a lot of other stores. They will give cash back and satisfy the customer. The bad word spreads so fast and I will spread the word, as this is not a threat but just a fact. I don't believe in threats...they do not get you anywhere. I just want my money back. Customer satisfaction please!!! Thank you so much.

I usually do not write reviews on the companies I've worked for, but with all the complaints I have been reading, I feel I have to air my views. I have been working at my store for 13 months now, and I will admit that the pay should be more for what Cashiers are expected to do, even if it is on a part-time basis, but I must say that I have been blessed many other ways. I work in the West Delray Beach Florida Dollar Tree, and the managers I have are great. The employees are great, and we look forward to going to work. The customers are nice and maybe with one or two exceptions, we all have quite a neat time. There always will be room for improvement, but I believe that the staff you work with is just as important as the job itself. Nobody should ever be unhappy with the work that they do.
I guess after reading all other reviews, I should be grateful and happy I have been blessed with working at this particular store. I also do not own a car and when traveling home at night (being I work all closing shifts), there is no bus service to take me across the town to where I live - approximately 1 hour and 20 minute commute there. Whenever I ran into trouble getting home, the managers and other employees offered me a ride home when I told them I might have to think of leaving. These are really genuine people, and we all understand and like one another. I pray that other stores get better morale and/or better employees which can look further than just the monetary aspect. Thank you.

Love my job working at dollar tree, 4 1/2 yrs. Yes overworked underpaid, especially managers. They are salary so they may work 50-120 hrs a week all depends on if they have a good team working for them. I have never worked for a manager who would ask anything of you unless they would do it themselves. Something has changed- new district manager and new store manager. This manager doesn't have a clue what he is doing, sit in office w/ feet on desk either eating or in the phone. When on floor walks around w/ his hands in pocket.
Sorry, dollar tree is a store where there's always something to do. He has employees doing resets, he takes pic and sends to district manager taking all credit. At xmas time I was stocking 12 am-8 am. One night the store manager didn't show up, left note. Following night I showed up expressed I needed to discuss my schedule. I'm a cashier- only offered to help stock, thinking he was hiring stickers. The two he hired quit first week. When I said I wanted to discuss my schedule he went off yelling to me I get paid, told me to leave property. I told him "no, I didn't drink a pot of coffee to be sent home." I was there to work.
He then threatened me he was calling cops to have me removed. I left. He followed. He apologized and ask me to come in and work. I thought all was good. Needless to say xmas is over and I have given him 3 weeks to fix my schedule back to 20 hrs a week cashiering, instead he has hired 3 new cashiers and gives them more hours. I am also next in line for asst manager. Position is available and he has not asked me if I want it and he won't because he knows he is lazy. And I cannot work w/ him.
Needless to say the job I love because Iove my customers is coming to an end. Monday I am going in to talk w/ him and district manager w/ other employees that are not happy w/ the way he treats them. I have been through 5 managers and can't count asst managers that have quit. Good managers and asst managers. He is overall the worst. He says he has 28 yrs experience from target. But I believe he must of been a janitor, no kind of manager.

I was an employee with dollar tree as a cashier. I enjoyed my job for 2 years. I just lost my job because I was missing 50.00 dollars from my register. Two weeks ago my manager wanted to suspend me from work. I just find this to be very odd. I would think that loss prevention can confirm what happened in my register. My receipts were taken out where I had this 50.00 dollars. I would like to know what happened to this money. If it was really an error on my part I would know why. My manager was asking me for change for 50.00 dollars. If she would of gotten change from the office I would of not lost my job. Managers and assistant managers are also allowed to open registers as any time. I think when having to give change to managers they should go to the office to get change, not in the middle of transactions in the register with the cashier and customers waiting in line. Just to avoid any conflict. Loss prevention should be able to find out what happened. Like the law says you are innocent until proven guilty. Thank you. I recently had the opportunity to witness an encounter between a manager and her employee; which deeply disturbed me. I was in the Deals store located in Fiesta Square here in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The store at the time was moderately busy as it was the Christmas season. The cashier was ringing up the items a customer had purchased. The customer gave the cashier a twenty dollar bill and the cashier put it in the drawer and accidentally didn't give the customer her change. When asked about the change, the cashier immediately called the manager over to open the drawer and to correct the situation.
I heard the customer explain to the manager that she had distracted the cashier and that is how the situation occurred. However, the manager chose to ignore the customers explanation and proceeded to tell everyone in line that this particular cashier does this frequently and is easily distracted. This made me quite uncomfortable because of the managers derogatory remark toward her employee.
My turn at the register was next and I immediately apologized for having to overhear the conversation and tried my best to assure the cashier that she had done nothing wrong. I am a frequent customer in this store because I personally like the staff there, and it is one of the few stores owned by Dollar Tree that is always stocked well, and clean. I am concerned, however, about a company that allows their managers to treat the employees with such disrespect and callousness. I say this because I have on several occasions heard other remarks made by this manager to her employees; and the same goes for the store in Springdale, Arkansas. I believe the managers in this case would probably not handle a dispute with the customer in an appropriate manner if the customer hadn't admitted to distracting the cashier. Perhaps the managers at their stores would benefit from further training, or perhaps being placed in another store where their particular problem-solving skills would be more appropriate.
As a customer, I tend to notice the interaction of people and when that interaction isn't pleasant, the attitudes of the staff members are affected. I have to give the employees of this particular store a great deal of credit since they appear to be working daily with a woman who appears to be more punitive than necessary for her position. The employees seem to take it in stride and go on to do their jobs and they are really good with the customers. I can't seem to find the receipt for this particular day; however, I do have subsequent receipts from that same store. I continue to shop the store because I really like the employees and it is considerably less than Big Lots and Harps which are in the same plaza.

I have worked a lot of stressful jobs with inadequate supervisors/managers. Jobs that entailed a lot of physical labor, poor pay and even poorer benefits packages. I have worked crazy hours, back to back shifts and doubles... but being an employee at Dollar Tree has taught me that just when you think things cannot get any worse... you better think again! You DO NOT GET PAID BREAKS unless you only work 4 hours shifts. Pa work law states that an employer MUST give employees paid breaks if said break is less than 20 minutes... NOT SO says Dollar Tree Corp! You are REQUIRED to take a ten minute UNPAID break for any shift longer than 4 hours. A 6 to 8 hour shift REQUIRES you to take a 30 minute UNPAID break AND a 10 minute UNPAID break... 8 hour shift or longer REQUIRES 2, 30 minute UNPAID breaks and 2, 10 minute UNPAID breaks! Really?!? If I am on the schedule for 30 hours a week, I end up REALLY only getting paid for maybe 27 hours... but I am at that store for MORE than 30! And what about being REQUIRED to be on call EVERY Friday night or whenever the freight truck decides to show up?!? No exceptions to that rule!
Management is intolerable and I am an ASM! I can honestly say that I have NEVER disliked a job so much! Bad management, bad company policies, employees are told that they are replaceable, no benefits unless you are a full time employee but no one gets full time except store managers. Overworked, underpaid, unappreciated, made to feel like you are less! When you get that call from the store manager (you filled out that job application and you know they want you for an interview), and she says "Come in Wednesday and talk to me... If I like you then you can have an interview with the DM!" RUN... DO NOT WALK TO YOUR NEXT JOB DESTINATION!!!

I asked for my money back and was told "no refunds". I said "it was not a refund, I was overcharged" and she refused. She then told me 'I should have known items in the 50 cents box were marked with a tag. Nothing said this on the box, and most of the items in the box did not have a tag. I stated to her, that the manager should not be talking to the associate that way and stated that her behavior was terrible; especially being that this was done in front of customers.
As we were conversing, a gentleman who stated that he was a manager interjected approaching the situation by stating that the lady manager had never received a customer service complaint and by stating that she had been doing this type of work for a number of years. I believe he stated 20 years to be exact. I then made him aware, that I was not speaking to him and stated that no matter how long she had been in the business; that the way she spoke to the sales associate was not the way a manager should speak to an employee. I then shared with him that I had been working for more than 28 years with the majority of my experience being in management and that was not the appropriate way to talk to staff. I continued shaking my head because I just could not believe that the managers thought this behavior was appropriate and especially in front of the customers.
The young associate thanked me and I made the comment to him that he should not let anyone talk to him that way. At that time, the manager interjected and stated that I needed to let her associate tell her if they thought she was speaking to them inappropriately and stated that she would have me banned from the store. I made her aware, that I would not be leaving the store until I paid for my items; but let her know that I thought she was a terrible manager and that I would be contacting the Corporate Office. She told me her name and stated if I could spell it and told me that I was ugly. As the associate was ringing me up; I was still in disbelieve and stated this is terrible. Which it truly was. The associate told me to have a blessed day and I proceeded to walk out of the store.
As I was getting into my car, lo and behold the manager was right behind me taking down my license plate number, threatening to press harassment charges on me as well as banning me from the store. I told her that she needed to get back into the store; as she went back into the store she **. Wow, I thought this is the type of manager that Dollar Tree is hiring to run their store. Someone stating that I was harassing her when she followed me out of the store harassing me and to boot **. Really!
When I arrived home, I called the store to get the number to the Corporate Office. The young lady on the phone who when I heard the voice was none other than ** the manager who stated the number was 1 800 get the number yourself and hung up. I contacted the store again, and could hear a gentleman in the background stating do not answer. It was ** who answered stating his name. I asked again for the number to the Corporate Office and was made aware that they would be contacting police which I really hope they will; so that this store can be investigated to show how terrible they really are.
I made him aware that was fine and that I feel that my right of Freedom of Speech was violated. I have a right to voice my concerns and initially I was not speaking to him. I was speaking to the young lady ahead of me that had the same concern. I believe that these two managers displayed just how incompetent they are and should be penalized for their poor judgment and lack of professionalism. I will never shop at Dollar Tree again and will make sure that all my family, friends and associates are made aware of this matter. This was a horrible experience which could have been diffused had the managers had addressed this matter with diplomacy and professionalism.

Rude Manager Jeremy @ store 4944 in Fort worth, tx. After standing very patiently in a very long line with only one cashier. When it became our turn we were not greeted with a hello, but he did say you were waiting in line for that long, at least you could have done was to take your stuff out of the shopping cart. After I acknowledge what he had said, he didn't hesitate to repeat himself after we checked out. He then accused my daughter of messing up the balloons and that's when I had to say something. He never apologize for his rudeness and went on and even swore at us. I'm very upset and would appreciate some feedback on this matter.

Two associates with carts almost ran into me with them. How rude. As I was checking out, I told the sales associate named ** that the associates use to be more friendly. She never acknowledged me or my comment. I asked for the Manager who is named ** and she happen to be standing in back of **. I told ** the same thing and she never acknowledged me or my comment.
These people are rude, nasty, and unprofessional. I then asked for the corporate phone number and immediately called. I was given the District Manager's Wayne **'s voicemail. I have not heard from this man. I called corporate again and was given another voicemail. I have not heard back from this person. Dollar Tree corporate, management, and sales associates are the worst!!! They will never follow up to any customer concerns. Do NOT SHOP THERE! I have taken my business to Dollar General.

I ordered a set of books from Dollar Tree. To save money and time I figured it would be easier to have it shipped to the store. I got an email it was shipped. Went to the store 3 days later. They said they do not have my order. It never came off the truck. I asked because of their negligence can they ship it to my house and waive the $5, they said no. They can refund my money and I can reorder. So they are resending it to the local store. And regardless if I get email saying the store has it I have to call to make sure. So have to do their job for them.

I was shopping at Dollar Tree a few weeks ago and took my coupons. I'm very familiar with store policy coupons because I use them frequently at other stores. I always make sure my coupons are not expired, and the description matched the item. I also review the policy of each store to make sure I don't run into any problems or hold up lines.
I was at a Dollar store and they wouldn't accept 5 of my coupons. All coupons matched the item but the register wouldn't take them. The cashier agreed they belong to the items and called the manager. The manager agreed but refused to do anything about it. He said there was nothing he can do. I wasn't going to make a scene but I did ask for corporate's number.
I called the corporate office the next business day. The first time I got their automated system states to leave your phone number because of high volume calls, it transfers you to a VM and it's full. I called again the next day. This time I got a live person who put me on hold, after being on hold for 15 minutes and explains the reason for my call he puts me in the district manager's voice mail. I still haven't heard back from them. I'm very disappointed with their lack of response and horrible customer service!

A stray cart by the check out lanes rolled towards me while I was taking a step and I fell forward flat onto their concrete floor and terribly hurt my knee. Dollar Tree refused to take responsibility for their negligence in allowing all these stray carts to pile up which resulted in injuring me. My healthcare was ending so I was unable to get the surgery the specialist recommended for a Meniscal Tear. I am in constant pain. My injury attorney wanted to sue Dollar Tree in small claims court but I cannot afford the upfront cost for an attorney. I am already out a lot of money for all the healthcare I received and my payments towards that before my policy ended.
I blame the manager who sat in the office doing nothing while the cashiers rang up lines of people 10 deep with kids running and jumping around. The pile up of carts were his responsibility to gather together. His job is to aid the cashiers. But when you have management at the top who's negligent in their responsibility towards a injured 55 year old customer, you have the trickle down effect of negligent store mangers. I will never shop again in this crummy store with negligent management.

I visited Dollar Tree in Plano after reviewing their Sunday paper ads. When I checked out I had coupons that matched some items, however, the register would not recognize some of them. I was careful to make sure that each coupon matched the item and the size exactly. The cashier said that the register would not accept them. I asked him to put them in manually. He said it was against store policy. I asked him if it was the correct items for the coupon. He said it was but the register would not take it. I told him never mind to put those items aside. He said he had to ring everything else up again and start over.
The 2nd time the register rejected a coupon that only moments prior it had accepted. At that point I was ready to walk out of the store with nothing. He tried again and it took the coupon. I asked him to see if it would take the others that he had set aside. He refused because he said the register would not take them. So aggravating. If the coupon matches the item exactly, then the coupon should be able to be put in manually. This is ridiculous and at this point it is just not worth my time to add Dollar Tree to my list of places to shop. Seems dollar tree has an abundance of shoppers and doesn't care if they lose one. Horrible customer service.

I would request you to kindly price each item sold over a dollar on the items. People get so confused because nothing is priced. I shop a lot on 86 Street Brooklyn, NY 11214. And the store is such a mess. Every time you step in to the store you find so many u boats on the isles. Cashiers have no option of checking a price if a customer wants. We suggest that you have a price check machine at the entrance of the store, or an option on the cash register which will ease out and avoid voids as cashiers always complain about their voids. Thank you.

I'm employed with Dollar Tree Canada. I'm going to provide minimal details because I don't trust the ethics of the company. I've been doing the job of the full time assistant manager since I was hired but have been receiving cashier pay and eventual part time assistant manager pay. Request that I get the promotion to receive the proper pay for the job I am doing is met with the response "be happy you're getting the hours". They have sent almost 10 managers to this store since it opened all have done nothing but sit in the office and demand others work harder to pick up their slack.
The law states breaks are to be 15 minutes, the Dollar Tree manual states 10 minutes. I don't know how they continue to get away with such blatant disregard for labor law. I've seen from other complaints from employees the practice of not firing people and forcing them to quit instead is not unique to my store. Assistant manager have quit leaving me and one other manager forced to work double shifts, work up to 2 weeks straight and the response when asking for permission to hire someone is to delay and ignore.
The distribution center is absurdly incapable of doing their jobs. They send skids with chips on the bottom and water on top leading to damaged product. They stack chemicals and food on the same skid and due to poor skid building we often have to deal with broken bottles of chemical being spilled all over food items with shards of glass mixed in for good measure. Complaints to the district manager about such things is met with nothing, they simply do not care. A cashier had a close family member die and the incompetent manager decided to cut her hours to zero as punishment for asking for a couple days off to go to the funeral.
A cashier got into a car accident on the way to work and quickly called to let us know she wouldn't be able to make it in. The manager decided to cut her hours to zero as punishment for missing that shift. If a customer is overcharged it is Dollar Tree policy to not give them their money back, there is no way to properly give them money back without simply shorting your till.
Training consists of half an hour of being shown how to work the till, a few comment about how to do stock and then infinite time of being chastised for not following a policy that is nowhere to be read about and no one has ever told you before. We had to fight with the district manager to get them to stop ignoring the orders form the health and safety inspector.
Nepotism is strong in this company, 2 of the incompetent managers they've sent have been personal friends of people in the head office. We've received calls from other manager asking if we're hiring at our store because a friend or family member is looking for work. In Canada there's no pennies anymore so you have to round to the nearest 5 cents. This causes the till to be off no matter what you do and you're accused of stealing due to it. If employees are assaulted by customers district managers don't care, show no concern and at best will chastise you for causing problems by being assaulted.
They literally inform you that you don't matter to the company and you can be replaced. They inform you of this so that you know not to put in any complaints about not receiving the proper pay or not being given the proper break time or being punished for having family die. Too many complaints from you and say hello to actions being taken to force you to want to quit (which is illegal).
We try to offer good customer service, we're forced not to by Dollar Tree policy. A lot of the complaints on this site about cashiers and assistant managers sound like what I'm forced to do to follow the policies or get punished, at the end of the day having a job to pay my bills is more important than making you happy by ignoring those policies. Blame the corporation not the employee who I can assure you is likely as unhappy about what they're telling you as you are.
Inventory is a mess, the distribution center sends you the wrong product regularly. This throws off your inventory counts, it's too much to be able to check every item off the truck and then when you do inventory and it is off by a lot you're punished for it. It doesn't matter how many times you show your district manager - another example of the distribution center messing up, it's you who gets punished for their mistakes and nothing is done to ensure it doesn't happen again and again. One of the incompetent managers they sent regularly changed the schedule the day before to make people be late so that they could fire the people they didn't like. That's all I've got right now.

I have no complaint about the employees of this store, all of them are very courteous and helpful. My complaint is about the Manager, I go to the Store at least once a week, and I buy all the stuff that I need and you carry. I take my aunt to the Store once every 2 weeks and she spends over $80.00 every time. I bought the wrong item, and I didn't have my receipt, I just wanted to change it, not return it, and he said NO, because I didn't have a Receipt and that's the policy of the store.
My question is what's the big deal to change one detergent for another of the same Brand. Another encounter was when I asked him, personally, for a new balloon and he said NO, that I had to take the ones that were already done. As you could see I don't like to be treated like that, I am the customer, I still go to that Store, because it is the only one near me, and because I like to shop in The Dollar Tree. Don’t get me wrong, I work in retail and have done it for many years so I know that you not gonna always go in and walk right out. But I suggested that she call someone else being that she had a customer with a belt full of groceries, and she wanted them bagged separately. She told me that she didn't have a line, really!
In this there was several associates walking around. I got one attention. She asked me what I needed like it was a bother to her, being she was socializing with a friend or someone she knew. The baby was running all over the store. Whereas I constantly chasing him, until another customer stopped him for running out the store. After paying, I recounted because I had taken all they had and wasn't positive of the amount. There were only 11. I entered the store and was greeted with "We don't give cash refunds". It wasn't a refund, it was an overcharge. She willingly took my cash. She asked if there was something else I might want. Hum, I got what I wanted the 1st time. She called the someone and told her to charge her for a pop and get her $10 cash. I had to wait until she was done checking out the entire line.
I asked the someone if she was the mgr. and she was asst mgr. Asked if there was a mgr and she was it. She would not give me the overcharge because it would make her drawer short. AND THAT COULDN'T HAPPEN. So the checkout girl gave me the $1 plus tax out of her own pocket. Sounds to me like there are some simple minded people here. Why did she count and scan one item? What does this policy do for inventory, customer satisfaction? Seems like it is a tactic to sell more. How many times in one day did she do this?

On Monday 3/10/2014 our son visited the Dollar Tree store # 4765 at 790 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, GA. He is high functioning autistic; therefore, he has a job coach who plays intermediary when he applies for work. The assistant manager was told by **, the store manager who yelled from a back room "tell her we don't hire people with disabilities." The clerk/assistant repeated this to the job coach, who informed her that she shouldn't make those kind of statements in a place of business. Then ** yelled, "Tell her it's Dollar Tree's corporate policy. We don't hire people with disabilities." The assistant did this and then shouted the coach down about the store policy/ practices etc.
Upon being notified of this I called the store and asked to speak to the manager. A woman came to the phone. I asked for her last name. ** (I don't know the spelling or her last name because she refused to give me either) told me she wasn't going to give me any of her information. "Who ARE YOU?" she shouted into the phone. I told her that I was a customer. "YOU COULD BE ANYBODY," she said. Attempts to call Virginia are fruitless since all the mailboxes are full and callers stay on a continuous voicemail loop. I have yet to be connected to a live person. After posting a complaint on Facebook a rude person from Dollar Tree HR called me. This company will never get another dollar from my friends and family.

The only reason why I am reminded of this horrible place is because I received a letter in the mail about a class action lawsuit against Dollar Tree "Deals". The lawsuit was about being forced to work off the clock and I have to say that this is all true. I was employed at the Dollar Tree's "Deals" store in Brooklyn, NY. At first, it felt like a dream come true because I was 19 years old and thought this job would help me get some money. Now I wonder why I lowered my standards to work at that horrible place. Because I had no skills at the time and no choice but to work there. When I was applying for the job, they gave out pens to fill out the application. When I submitted the application to the employer/manager "Troy", he gave me a look and asked why I used a blue pen when that was the only color pen they provided. I was thinking, "are you serious?" He then gave me a short interview.
About 2-3 weeks later, I was employed but I had to go through proper training. This training was a complete joke. It was just basically watching another cashier handle the cash register. I don't know if this is considered free money, watching for nothing or what? I did not get any hands-on for anything. Everything was "watch what I am doing" and they expect you to learn. They also tell you NOTHING about any policies so if you do something wrong, you get in trouble and if you tell them you didn't know, they tell you "well you should've". Here are several more points I will make based on my experience working here. Disrespectful Manager: At the time, I wore religious attire which included a long full body dress that reached my feet. It was supposed to be modest. Being that my pants show when I walk, I did not want anyone to see hideous sweatpants flapping everywhere underneath and buying slacks would be completely pointless.
I wore blue jeans for months and no one noticed and since it didn't really show, I didn't think it would matter. My manager took me to the office and asked me why I am wearing blue jeans WHEN he lifted up my dress! I would appreciate it if he just told me but he actually went to pick my dress up to make a point? On top of that, he said my blue jeans are inappropriate for work yet there are workers here with rainbow tattoos on their and faces, facial piercings, wearing yellow jeans and a pink sweater? (And no, I am not joking about the piercings, tats and bright colored clothes) Might I also note that they gave out official collared shirts to wear with the logo. I was the only one who didn't get one and they never told me why. Staff is completely rude, obnoxious and disrespectful. All these employees including the managers are party animals and all they talk about is going out at night.
I was completely left out and really didn't care until I came into the office once and asked for something and as I walked out, I heard them talk and laugh about me. I was incredibly upset. If you signed up to be a Sales Associate, you can forget about your job title. That was exactly how I ended up getting training as a Cashier instead. They make you do every job possible in the world..even clean up dog poop if possible. These franchises and big corporations really know how to squeeze every working penny they are paying you until your legs kill you for the next 4 days. If you are a cashier, you are required to clean the floors, vacuum the floors, sweep, clean the windows, make 8 announcements on the intercom throughout the day, pick up calls on the phone, put back items customers didn't want (even if they weren't your customers), refill the "impulse" section, empty the trash (that wasn't even yours), take out more plastic bags to put items in, and tons of others thing you shouldn't be doing.
You would think a cashier would have enough time to do all this? NOT! Since I didn't have time to do all of the above mentioned "chores" as a cashier, I was penalized multiple times as if it's my fault I didn't have time. My manager was required to do an evaluation to show how each employee does. I didn't know this until I was called into the office and he asked me to sign the form without even telling me what it was about. I sneakily read it, and it turns out to be his evaluation form and how he rated my work to be substandard and/or average. Are you kidding me? I am not a slacker and I can promise I work my ___ there every day I'm there. I put a smile on my face every single day (regardless of my mood) and I'm always on time and ready to work. I see almost the same customers all the time and they have told me I am very pleasant. Your hard work will never be noticed if you work at this place.
I was the only cashier working and the customer line went all the way to the other side of the store. When I called for back up, no one answered. The customers kept yelling at me telling me to keep trying and call again and so I did. I got a call from my manager (same one who lifted my dress) and yelled at me. I wanted to punch this jerk's face so badly. When there was a thief, my manager asked why I didn't confront this creepy mysterious scary looking thief. My manager really asked a 5 feet tall, 110 lb girl to go up to this large guy and take the merchandise back? Was that supposed to be a joke? If you're short a few pennies in your cash register after counting, they would penalize you. If you were supposed to leave at 5PM, they would take you to count your register at 5:15PM and be done by 5:30PM. The whole time I was waiting for my register to be counted, the manager told me they're not paying me for the half hour I waited because I wasn't "working".
If I'm there, wasting my time when I could've been home, then yeah I consider it working. As a customer during my work and after I quit, I can say that this place is incredibly filthy. There were rats that bit into boxes of food. The cans are crushed. The AC was not strong in the summer and it felt like there were allergens everywhere. Some items that were opened were placed back into packaging to think it's new. Items have been taped back together, etc. I have to say what a relief it was to finally leave this dumpster trash called a workplace and never look back. Employees were outright not friendly, environment was hostile and dirty. The $7.50 before taxes did not justify anything and earning $70 a week really did nothing. It barely covered a monthly unlimited MetroCard (NYC). Do yourself a favor and don't work here unless you're on the edge of death. This place is trash: good riddance.

On April 29, 2013, I visited Dollar Tree store #8217 in Talleyville, DE. I have shopped at this store since it opened. I purchased a bottled of Sierra Mist. When I got to my car, I opened the bottle and began to take a drink. I realized at once that this product was not palatable. Since it was late, I decided to hold the bottle and the receipt to ask for an exchange on my next trip. I checked the date code in the bottle: it was for May 3, 2014. I know that soda has a relatively long shelf life, regardless of the stated date code. I was not able to return to the store until May 11, 2014. I asked the cashier if I could just exchange the bottle for another one. I was told that I could not return or exchange the bottle because it had been opened and "they could not resell it". I told her that of course, they can't resell it; it was opened and of obvious poor quality. At which point she repeated herself, and I asked her if she was a **.
I reiterated that I did not want a refund, just an exchange. She went to get the manager, who proceeded to tell me the same thing. At which point I told her that I was aware the product could not be resold because it had been opened. I repeated the same thing that I had said to the cashier, that I know they could not resell an opened bottle of soda, I just wanted an exchange. The cashier then chimed in with another nugget. Something to the effect "that you are fussing about a dollar?" (Not verbatim). I then asked the manager if she, too, was a **? The manager told me "you can leave now". Needless to say, I was not threatened by her order.
I proceeded to pick up the things I had gone in for and I walked the store. I realized that I had reacted the way I did because I was totally blindsided by the refusal to get an exchange. I went to check out and apologized to the cashier. I told her that the policy was not her fault. I walked over to the manager and started to apologize to her, at which she replied (in a very loud voice) that she did not want to talk to me as I had insulted her. I also did tell her that I was going to call corporate and the newspaper. She told me to go ahead and do that.
The next day I attempted to contact Dollar Tree. The website lists no phone number (I wonder why), so I found it on this site. When I read all of these other comments, I really did not feel so bad. I have been trying for two weeks to contact this company. Repeated E-mails have gone unanswered. I have made at least 12 phone call. Messages left have not been returned. All calls are automatically answered; you are asked to wait for the next available representative. Almost immediately, you are directed to another system. And this mailbox is always full! Needless to say, a one dollar bottle of soda pales in comparison to this debacle.
What is this company doing? Why has not any state or agency picked up on this? Perhaps they are playing the "ignore the customer, they'll go away game". Well folks, this consumer is not going away!! I have already started a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and plan to contact the Virginia Division of Consumer Affairs. If nothing can be done to make these people address these issues, bad publicity is always a good motivator!!! Anyone else who has these issues with Dollar Store should not give up. One cannot expect perfect quality for one dollar; however, one should expect better customer treatment. Let me close by saying I spent many, many years in the retail grocery business. The cashier tried to scan the coupon but it won't scan so she asked Terrie for help. She said "I can't take them if they are not scanning". I told the cashier that someone had bought them that morning. She said I can't do anything if she doesn't help me. So I said where does it say in the policy. Over two counters down she yells, "I can't do anything, if she doesn't want to buy them then take them off". Instead of helping, she was like I don't care if you buy them or not.
Store was full of customers and there were at least 10 to 12 people in each line waiting. I asked ** if she can write her name, store phone no, store managers name and dist manager name and phone no. on a paper. She wrote down the store info and her name and Terrie's name. Then ** looked at Terrie that I asked for the dist managers no. also. Terrie said she will have to wait. So **y rang me up and gave me my coupons back. After I was done, she asked me if I could step on the side so she can help the customers. I didn't mind that at all. Terrie had me wait over 15 minutes. Then she came back and gave me the corporate no. I looked at it and I said I asked you for the dist managers no. She said I am not going to give it to you. I told her I work in retail also and this is not how to treat customers. She said I won't give it to you. I told her I will wait until she gives it to me. She said you can wait all day but I won't give it to you.
Slowly but surely she was raising her voice with me. I didn't want to make a scene so I said okay I am going to leave and I will call the corporate how you dealt with this issue. She raised her voice and said, "make sure you spell my name right", and then she started to spell her name. I told her I hope you regret this. She made me look like an idiot in front of all the store. What kind of example is she setting for her coworkers. And I hope the customers saw her attitude. I shop at this store 2 to 3 times a week. Which I won't be doing anymore. I pray that she gets her act straight. Because I have never seen that kind of attitude she had, since I have worked in retail for over 15 years as a supervisor.

At register for check out and handed cashier a 20.00 bill. I bought 4.00 in merchandise and cashier put 10.00 in cash... (with her mistake) I did not receive my proper change and manager said I didn't hand 20.00 to cashier. I know what I handed to cashier upon check out. I have never experienced anything like this before. Manager was very unprofessional. Basically, she said I was incorrect with what I handed to cashier. Store associates never counted the drawer, just weighed the money. Once again, never seen that ever done.
So upon leaving store, I handed cashier 20.00, bought 4.00 in items and left with 6.00. I have worked in customer service for a long time and I was so applauded of how it was handled and would never treat a customer that way. I know what I had in my wallet when I went to the store.!! Basically I was called a liar. Very, Very poor customer service. Tried calling corporate, left messages for someone to call me back, and no response. Don't know what else to do!!! I will write a letter to the BBB.

Where do I begin? Let's see. Maybe it's the nasty things that go on that all Supervisors turn their back on or maybe it's some bosses are complete racists or could it be the fact that maybe some of the workers are who they say they are but their unfair judgement when it comes to bosses put their hands on employees in a aggressive manner, that would call for termination. Or Bosses that need to be supervised and the worst most Disgusting thing of all, is what goes on there. I wouldn't shop there unless someone went through every store with a black light. This place is a joke. There are better places to work. I will tell you that. They're full of crap. There is nothing this company will do to help you. I know a lot of li'l things that would make you gag. If corporate gave two flying craps, they would start contacting people and finding out why and what and whom Corporate has their head burrowed up somewhere till someone Sues them and then all the dirty crap will come out.

I've been employed with Dollar Tree for 7 years this month. I can relate to all of the reviews I've read so far. I was wrote up for talking with my customers. I am one of friendliest cashiers at the store. When I told my customers I wasn't allowed to chat they were not happy, the reply was... "This is why I come back to this store, 'cause of you." Anyways, 2 days later, a guy in my line asked me something and I answered back. The next thing I knew I was told that because of that my line got backed up. Which is just a load of crap! I am very capable of doing 2 things at once. This is just the beginning..
Now for the last 2 years, I've been filling the Impulse & h-grid. My understanding was that is an assistant manager's job. Now, that's on top of running a cash register taking 230-250 people's orders in a 5-hour period when I'm the only cashier there until next shift. Then after that you have to do all the go backs. Clean the bathroom, fill up the balloon coral, plus whatever else is thrown in there. My manager got fired yesterday 'cause inventory was over 100,000 short. Yes, short. This is going to be the 5th manager I've had in the last 7 years. The Assistant managers & managers talk to you like crap. Night Crew never picks the store up, so when I go in for my morning shift, I've got to clean up their mess then I can hopefully get started on mine.
So, if I don't get it done then I'm asked why didn't you finish? HELLOOOOO, I'm the only person here, 'cause the managers or assistant managers don't help. I'm not superwoman or a robot. I'm a person, 1 person. There are new people starting and they are making more than me. I've been there seven years now. I think I'm going to have to get a hold of corporate to see if something can be done. This is good for people still living at home or getting out of school but if you are grown and need a good paying job, please move on 'cause it's not worth it and it's def. not enough pay. Well, I could keep on going with all the stories I have but I won't. I just hope when people read these, they will take the advice. P.S. Run, unless you wanted to be treated like crap!!!

I was shopping on 31 and Ashland at Dollar Tree and a tall light skinned lady who's always on her phone was gossiping. And talking, talking about her coworkers. I don't know her position in that store but whatever it is, she should not be discussing personal matters within the store. She has a nasty attitude. She stays on her phone and when a customer asked to use the restroom, she was cussing so loud at the assistant manager so therefore, I figured she was a store manager and all the customers heard her fussing and cussing but that's not the first time I been in there and heard her cussing.......
So I travel to my neighborhood Dollar Tree on 91 and commercial that store and also good either. I was in there and seen another customer stealing and told the assistant manager - short lady always in the food aisle - and she said she don't care, she's just here to do her job and go home so I walked to the register and told the cashier. Nice sweet young black lady, she's always there working about 230 and she closes. I told her and just as politely and sweet, she told the customer to hold on for a second, she will be back. She left her register and walk in the aisle where the young was stealing and told her to put the merchandise down and leave the store. You all, cashier came to the front with a bag full of merchandise and put it in a buggy and apologize for the wait and rung us out... You all need more workers like her in your stores...

DollarTree has been my dollar store for quite some time now, usually once or twice a week. Only on occasion do I use a debit card. The other day I needed a couple dollars cash so I used a debit card for my purchase. When I requested a $5 cash back, I was asked if I would accept a $1 service fee. What is this? I never heard of a fee to receive cash back from a debit card! (And a 20% fee, to boot). Of course I declined, paid for my purchase, and departed -- for good! No other merchant had ever charged me a fee for cash back. Merchants, for a fact, are not charged any additional fee for providing their customers with cash backs, and their security risk is reduced since there is less cash in the register. I'm happy there is an 89c store a couple doors away. DollarTree is a ripoff and has lost this customer forever!

On Saturday April 12, 2014 at 17:56 in Uniontown, PA at store #274 (which I always shop in) my daughter who is 11 years old and her school friend and my smallest son who is 5 years old all went in to this store that day. After walking around and grabbing things I needed after getting off of work, I noticed the manager on duty had followed me thru every aisle. She watched every move we made and I didn't notice it until my daughter said something to me, and it’s not the first time my daughter noticed it when we're in the store. Reason being is because we go there frequently, but this manager follows my boys when they are in the toy aisle, or if all of us are together she is in every aisle with us. She always has an attitude!
Anyhow, Saturday after picking up the things I needed, I went to the register where **, who was the cashier, cashed us out. While she was taking my money for payment I asked her who the lady was because she has a very nasty attitude. She just shrugged her shoulder as though she didn't want to answer me. Before I could turn around the lady who is the manager was at the register behind me overlooking the other cashier, who needed NO ASSISTANCE and she was never called up there.
So as we were cashing out, there were stacks of water bottles and Arizona sweet tea stacked up fairly high, which were unstable. And at a blink of an eye they tumbled over and caused a mess. I thought one of my kids touched it but ** who was the cashier stated that it was unstable. She knows the kids didn't touch anything. But lo and behold, the manager at the store never apologized or anything, bottles went flying, a large spill on the floor, kids almost got hurt and the only thing she could do was eyeball all of us.
I told one of the workers who had to pick up all the stuff by herself that I was sorry she had to deal with it. While ** kept repeating to herself that it was already unstable the kids didn't touch it. The manager just eyeballed us with no apologies or anything. I was highly pissed and asked for her name and none was given. Left the store and called back without them knowing who I am and they stated they are not allowed to give out names. I have email corporate office and about this and called. Unable to leave v-mail because whoever is suppose to check v-mails I guess doesn't, and no one has yet to return my phone call or email. So I'm assuming they do not care about loyal customers who come in for every occasion (holidays) including normal days. So I will continue to contact them, but if no phone call or email is returned back my intentions are to go higher. They may be a big business but someone is still over them!
As a consumer I have the right to voice my issue, and I expect someone to solve this issue. It’s a dollar store - everything in there is for $1. I've only been in Uniontown and Pennsylvania since October 2013 and let me just say this is one of my worst experiences there. I have never in any way shape or form have to be followed in any store, much less Dollar Tree, and I look forward to hearing from someone. Because this has to stop. They have large amounts of water and Arizona sweet tea flying all over the place, liquid on the floor. My 5 year old was almost hit, and tops of the bottles are flying, and this manager with an attitude who wishes not to give out name, or apologize. Just typing this all over again upsets me because of the experience I've had.

I've been an ASM at Dollar Tree for 8 months and can say I absolutely hate it and should have kept looking for something better than grabbing what was offered first. When I was hired I was told that I would be trained in my new position, be eligible for benefits, be moved up from part time to full time, after 3-6 months be able to apply for the store management program. None of these things have happened. I work in the largest sq. footage store in the dst. The place is humongous! It’s larger than the local Aldis.
In my 8 months at the store, I was given one half day of training in my job by the store manager and nothing since. I’m supposed to have access to systems in the computer but somehow calling the home office to get me keyed into ALL of the systems keeps slipping his mind. He constantly has us short staffed leaving me with one cashier during the day, and one at night. And maybe, if I’m REALLY, REALLY LUCKY, I get someone to help recover at closing. I haven't been given any time or been keyed into the system to even do the internal training programs for my job which according to company policy, if I don't do that I shouldn't even have keys to the store.
No matter how much I ask, I'm always given the worst shift – Closing, every day, every time. And now with such shortage in staff huge things aren't getting done like recovering the store at night or things being cleaned. It used to be from 1-5. I would push freight and manage the cashiers then from 5-10:30, me and another person recovering the store would clean and it would look good. Now it’s me by myself pushing out 2-4 U-boats a night and trying to get the rest of my managerial stuff done. And when I come in the next day and he says, why wasn't stuff done? Well how could I if it’s just 2 people in a store twice the size of Aldi?
I have customer complaints all the time almost every day. Now how dirty the store is. The carpets are filthy and haven’t been vacuumed for years. The tile is caked dirt and grime, the bathrooms have been vandalized so many times but we can't fix it because no time. About 1/3 (not kidding) of the ceiling tiles are saturated with dark mud black/brown water stains and many are buckling and dripping the disgusting water onto the merch and customers. My best is where the ceiling tile is just missing and if you look up, you can literally see the sky. The manager doesn't let us take out garbage except on truck day which has led to a number of field mice to infest the store. There have been times I've had to chase them like a moron when they run loose during the day when customers are there.
Since being hired the store has lost 3 other assistant managers due to the manager’s complete stupidity and pressure to do things but he doesn't do much. All he does is sit on the computer all day long or hides in the stock room doing nothing. We are supposed to have 3 assistants in the store, right now it’s just me and the other assistant taking on the work of 3 plus the manager because he delegates all his work to us. And the other assistant is going to be transferring very shortly to another store closer to his house and to a SM he likes and gets along with better. The person I replaced sited the same reason as the 3 while I've been there. It’s not the job or the absolutely horrible pay (I’m getting insultingly low $10/hr for very physical and demanding work), it’s because of the manager giving horrible hours, having too grand ideas of what should be done and then when you can't achieve what he wants he treats you like crap and stupid.
I asked to be taught merchandising after 2 months of employment, it hasn't happened nor will happen. When I've confronted the manager about why I’m not being trained in my job or giving the tools to move up and get a store of my own (that’s one of the reasons I wanted to join the company) on 4 separate occasions, in front of other employees, he has said he is a chauvinist and that women should cashier. Well, there goes my chance at doing more in this company.
I try my best to protect and support the cashiers and stockers and recovery people the best I can, but he is so hard on them too, and I can only do so much. They are told to do a lot and the manager puts tasks on them he should be able to do himself if he budgeted his own time right. One cashier I work with at nights is a manager at McDonald’s and she has told me over and over that McDonald’s is a better place to work than the Tree.
One thing, another poster said about employees not getting hours and basically forced out of the job without being fired and able to apply for unemployment is totally true!!! I have seen this first hand in my store. Several people who were good workers and just needed some coaching to be better weren't given any hours for 2 or 3 months. Every Monday they would call in and ask if they had hours on the schedule. And I would have to say no. A few of them went to UI and applied because they didn't have hours for weeks and weeks and the Dollar Tree DM told UI, well they just left the position they weren't fired. Well, how long can you not give someone hours before it hits them that they have been "fired" and being forced to leave without the company actually firing you so you can get the benefits. It’s a bad practice that again I've seen first-hand and it makes my stomach turn.
The only reason I’m staying is to get to my one year mark and move on and because the only thing buffering the closing staff and fighting for their rights and hours is me and the other assistant. And I genuinely care for the staff and want to do the best I can for them, giving them time to find other jobs. Yes, I've covered for a few already who have needed to go to interviews at other places and needed time off to do it, and I fully support them in finding employment where they are not abused.
I've had to rein in the manager several times from yelling at the staff, or going on and on about pointless unending stories he’s famous for, or calling the staff stupid and slow and other things. Dollar Tree if you’re right out of high school and only cashiering is a great place to work. If your older than 20 and have a life and dreams and don’t want to be treated like trash, worked like a pack animal, and given insultingly low, low pay with no chance of advancement, MOVE ON!!! Please just keep walking if offered a job, it is not worth it.

Yesterday afternoon at approx. between 2:00 and 2:30pm Mountain Time, my mom went to our local Dollar Tree at 1511 Goff Blvd. SW (87105) here in Albuquerque, NM. Both my mother and I have been shopping at this location for 10+years. We frequent that same location 1-3 times per week. Many of the employees know us and have always treated us well. Up until 3/9/14, that is.
The reason my mother went there yesterday, was to purchase some box drinks for my 6-yr.-old - The selection of different brands of box drinks appeal very much to us, because they work well for my son when his sugar drops in the middle of the night. We constantly shop there to buy these and many other items for him like alcohol pads and sugar free candy. (He has Type 1 Diabetes and my mother helps me care for him). She also went in to buy dish soap, Brillo pads, and some spices. When she returned home with these items I noticed she was distraught, and when I had asked her what had happened I was shocked to hear what she told me.
She stated that she went in and was shopping without a cart and she noticed the manager was following her and staring at her but she didn't think anything of it at the time. She stated that she took her car keys out of her purse in the middle of the store so she could have them ready before going outside of the store. She often does this so she won't have to struggle finding them outside and be vulnerable to someone attacking her. She said when she approached the line to pay for her items, the same manager woman who had been following her, tapped her on the shoulder and asked her to step out of line and go with her.
My mother did, and then woman stated to her in front of many other customers in line that the security in the store had seen her put something in her purse. My mom said she was in disbelief and at a loss for words. She said at first she thought it was some kind of joke because she goes there very often. Then this manager demanded to look in her purse so my shocked mother agreed. The manager looked through my mother's purse and then after doing a through search of her purse - realized she had made a ridiculous horrible mistake. She then apologized and patted my mom on the back. This was even more upsetting because my mother does not like to be touched by people she doesn't know. She clearly broke my mother's boundaries and was in her personal space and violated her by looking through her purse. Then she said this was "store policy for the next time my mother would go there". Which - in this case my mother and I are still both trying to figure out what she meant by that.
My mother keeps saying she was so embarrassed she never wants to step foot in that store again. Another older male customer that witnessed what had happened suggested my mother file a complaint, and told her he felt like the manager should be looking for "real shoplifters". Obviously, this was an outright wrong accusation made, and corrective action must be taken so this will never happen to any other honest paying customer again.

I am currently an employee out of the Seattle (N. End) District Dollar Tree store. I have been with Dollar Tree for a year now. I worked my way up from Door Greeter to Freight. I currently make minimum wage and still haven't received a bonus. I asked another past employee if they received a bonus while working there, and they laughed like I had said a joke. But I was actually serious. But the past employee said that since she was working there, that she asked for a raise and got NO answer. She even went as far as going to corporate, but they didn't even give her an answer. So, she left and she was there for 3 years.
It saddens me that people like me and others are working like slaves for a company that doesn't care about its employees. And not on top of that, I'm the only person of color that works there so it makes it much harder for me to be heard. I wake up very early to get to work on time, and you would think that they would participate in the ORCA card for those that don't live close to work... but they don't. They will tell you its your responsibility to make it to work regardless of how you get there. The atmosphere at Dollar Tree to lackadaisical...its like whatever happens, happens. And that's not fair.
Its like the managers turning a blind eye to the employees that want to share Ideas or implement new ways of making our jobs easier. But just like all the comments on here, we don't get heard... We are just seen. And corporate?... Those fools.... They are intimidating! You can't even speak a word to them without them questioning you on what your job title is. People always ask me if my location is hiring, I squirm to tell them yes, just for the simple fact that what we go through as employees of Dollar Tree is like working in a sweatshop... working underpaid and under appreciated. So I just want to let all the other Dollar Tree employees know, that there are other Dollar Tree employees feeling the same way you are.

Dollar Tree has always been a choice store in order to get deals where no other retail company provides. As a person who has lived in many places, I have gone to Dollar Tree to find things that I am unable to have access to at other stores. Today, I must say that I am disappointed with the customer Service. The incident happened as I was trying to purchase two packages of Super Glue for one of my kid's projects. I place the product on the belt and the cashier began to check it out. As I was in line, the cashier stated that the other person's products were ahead of mine. My question was, how did I get next in line if her things were first? She was oblivious to my concern. Instead of causing any further confusion, I proceeded to go behind the person so that the cashier did not have to re-ring the customer's products.
Honestly, I do not fault the woman who checked me out because she did in fact apologize for the confusion, but I do not understand why the other lady's word was honored in oppose to mine. Nonetheless, I received my receipt and called the number on it. When I called, I spoke with a woman who is the manager named 'Barbara'. She seemed enthused and gave me the number. The lack of customer concern is what I do not favor.

I have been with this company since October 2007 & am still paid minimum wage. They do not give raises no matter how diligent you are at attempting to undertake the overwhelming volume tasks they pile on you to be completed in a mere 5 hour window of time WHILE also doing the register. On top of the managers expectations of you as a cashier, they "share" THEIR assignments with you so you are put under the same pressures as an assistant manager has, but minus the pay increase. As you prove your ability to do what they ask, they demand more & more out of you over time, until you are so burned out you want to quit.
The worst thing was in May 2011, I was told to pull a pallet jack up a flight of concrete steps out back because they threw a bale & took the jack down to move the bale out of the weekly shipment truck's way. I literally FELT a muscle of tendon or both SNAP in the right side of the mid back when I pulled the 200LB equipment up the stairs & have suffered ever since, to the point I had to take 3 weeks off work entirely. My store manager had no care or compassion for the intense nerve pain I was in & I was subsequently forced to voluntarily quit or else keep aggravating the injury & never let it heal. To this day I have to see a chiropractor once or twice a week to help the re-occurring seizing inflammatory ball of pain below my right shoulder subside again. I am utterly disgusted with the apathy of the managers towards those they boss around & hurt physically through unsafe heavy lifting & risky daily stocking practices.

A terminal fee! A way to rip off the unsuspecting - or just those old enough to need a little time or extra print size to be sure they are being dealt with fairly. Incredibly, Dollar Tree not only charges to give you cash back, they do not post a sign at the register about the exorbitant fee, nor do they have their 'terminal' indicate the fee in large enough letters to read it quickly when processing the transaction. Ten dollars cash back netted them 10% plus whatever they get from the bank!
If you ask the manager to void the transaction, **, the surly manager at the San Mateo store # 2745 in Albuquerque, on Dec. 16th, 2013, angrily refuses as if the age difference between you and him makes you too insignificant for his attention. If you then, politely, get back in line to return your purchase (so that you do not have to enrich a rip-off scheme) he is suddenly too busy cashing out a register drawer to deal with you. His only comment, "It's too late."
When a company depends on sleight of hand and nasty employees to eke out a few extra dollars from customers who are clearly just trying to make ends meet, look for that company to do other disreputable things. There is no need to shop at Dollar Tree. Plenty of other similar stores with ethical policies and employees.

I have been with Dollar Tree for 2 years. I was honest with my past and grateful to be given a chance. I have done my best, worked hard and very dependable. Been told several times by managers and associates that I'm a hard worker and one of the best workers. Well, we lost a store manager, 3 assistant managers and my duties went from cashier and freight to doing everything but opening and closing the store. I'm treated as a manager with cashier pay. Been asked to work while off the clock, unloaded a truck 9 hrs into my shift, asked if I could clock out for a lunch and was told to wait as the manager went to smoke.
So another cashier and I unloaded the truck from 12:45 until 4pm with one 10-minute break. The new DM did fire that manager but it just really makes me angry that I've been denied a promotion and have never been late, don't call off, come in every time they have needed me to, do my job to the best of my ability and I can do basically all manager duties with cashier title. Dollar Tree will use and abuse and from my experience, the higher up care nothing about the hard work that the employees offer but only caring about Sales and don't care if you break your back to do it. I got a 16-cent raise in 2 years. I knew the pay when I got hired and was fine with it but when you come in willing at minimum wage and work like you're being paid $15 an hour, at least appreciate the hard work and dedication. Appreciate your employees b/c without them, you would have no store, No sales.

To start out this story I learned that as an employee of Dollar Tree that there really are worse places than Walmart to work. I have never worked for such a horrible place. I've had some strange jobs in my 44 years on this planet. I was not hired to be part of a set of crew it was not in the job description. The store I am at is presently setting up for grand opening. First off sorting is NOT done in the back room but by turning the store (during set up) into a hoarder’s paradise. It gave me horrible terrifying flashbacks of going to visit my grandma who was a hoarder. I was afraid that stock was going to fall on me.
There are boxes in the isles making one have to hop and jump to clean areas. The dumpster is out front. There is no OSHA manual in plain sight for employees to look through. There are no OSHA posters on the wall in the back room or even break room. I'm afraid that if any of the businesses around were to have fires and if it was to spread to the store I was hired to work at that my fellow employees and I would have a difficult time escaping to safety.
I have been made to feel unwanted and them trying to get me to quit. I say this because my husband I were hired and I had been dropped to 5 hours from 15 hours for the week. My husband kept his hours for the week. I was not informed by my supervisor or manager that my hours were cut. I found out the next day when my shift began. It shows a lack of integrity and honesty to not inform an employee of schedule changes. I wouldn't care about gaining or in this case losing hours/days if I was informed of it from my superior. That would be the honest thing to do. Otherwise it is sneaky and lacks integrity and ethics.
Just because it might be legal to combine the DNA of a mouse, a cat, a dog and an elephant to try to create a whole new animal doesn't make it ethical or moral. When I mentioned that I had days removed I was told rather meanly that I HAD hours, now I DON'T. As if I didn't deserve to have more than 5 hours at minimum wage for the week when I was originally scheduled to work 15. This place really ticks me off in so many ways. My husband spotted more than 15 OSHA violations during the setup of the store during his shift alone.
The extent of what they want to call honesty is what I call asset protection or loss and prevention. Bag check of your employees, having someone off the clock go with the manager to make a bank drop and things of that nature falls into the category of asset protection. Honesty is finding a 100 dollar bill on the floor in an aisle and taking it to your supervisor to put aside in case someone comes in and is looking for it. Instead of putting into one's pocket or wallet. Though being honest and having integrity does go hand and hand with asset protection. It's not where it should end with any company. It should apply to informing an employee of schedule changes. It should apply to letting an employee know that they need to be more professional or wear a stronger deodorant tactfully.

I tried to place my order online twice and though I got no error message or indication that my order was being processed the system would not place my order. I checked my credit card and there are several pending charges but no record of my order online or with Dollar Tree’s support staff. The first time I called I was told that I would be called back in an hour by a manager. This did not happen. The woman I talked to the second time told me the charges will just fall off my account and then wouldn't help me get my order placed or straighten out the charges. Thanks for nothing Dollar Tree.

I have worked in retail and have NEVER been treated so badly by a manager. When I started working all this manager does is text all day to her boyfriend and talk about herself, about her ** and how she thinks I should get my ** done. I was never trained correctly and found this manager just sits in the office again texting or talking about herself. When the big wigs were coming she would have us stop our projects to get the store looking perfect, then she would turn around after the visit and have the balls to say to us, why haven't we done our job.
Then her friend verbally telling me to f off, shut up and there were days he would walk out and come to find out Lordess took him back not once but twice.
She is suppose to train other managers and they all say the same thing she never trained them correctly.
After I was attacked with a pallet jack by her friend and I had gone to the REGIONAL MANAGER AND HER in the office about this, they did nothing. She degraded me and I found myself in tears. At one time she said to me, "So now you know how it feels to be my kids." She was referring to her yelling at me.My friend I found out was dieing her response, IF SHE IS NOT DEAD IN TWO WEEKS I'M GONNA BE PISSED. Because I had asked to leave early cause my best friend was in the hospital and I was told by family I needed to get there asap. I NEVER called in sick cause Lori made it a big deal and we were threatened.
If you would look at how many people left that place or walked out you would see the problem is her. I felt threatened by her and her friend whom still works there. She was never happy and she continued to cut me down saying I couldn't keep up and I felt my life was at risk cause my health was getting worst with the way I was treated and I walked out.

I will be as fair as possible here. I am a former Dollar Tree Canada Manager. There are a number of things that I find disturbing to say the least about this company. The first one is the boy toys they sell. More than half of them are a danger to the children, mostly from sharp edges. Chrome-colored swords that will slice food in half, or that have sharp enough points to spike anyone with ease. Plastic knives that if held right, can kill. All these things that are known by safety agencies and ignored. Girl toys that the dye will run all over the child wearing these, or dolls that have small parts children can choke on. And just try to find out what kind of paint is used in creating these. This is of course wondering if any toy they sell, will still be a toy a few hours after being played with.
Next would be the insane waste caused by this company in its shipping. Dozens of dumpsters full of cardboard, every single week, from every single one of their thousands of stores. On to the food packaging. The same size containers are used, although in small print, less is in the can or bag. Or the quality of the house brands and no sign of how old the products are. Then misleading packaging throughout the store. Last? After I started asking about these things, a strange complaint surfaced that I was not an "appropriate" manager. And despite them saying all these nasty things that they did at the end, they terminated me as "restructuring". My comment now to the BS they went with on all this is this: I understand what the few honest higher ups did by following orders. But even you refused to investigate. You took lies that I could prove were lies, and just followed like good little soldiers. Like good little Virginians.

They might as well bring slavery back. I was a store manager for this company and I will tell you that there is no support from the higher ups at all. They use and abuse you. Anyone considering to work for this company should reconsider. What they say and what they do for you are complete lies. 45 hour weeks turned into 65-70 hour weeks. 5 day work week turned into 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. Same salary, no lunch or breaks. The stockholders are the ones they care about. Need I say anything else?

Unfortunately, the company's policy is an 'even exchange' only. Instead of taking your disagreements and anger out on us cashiers, you can call corporate and yell at them. It’s THEIR rules, not OURS. We’re just the employee. And the thing about having to shuffle customers out of the store, when there are only a few minutes left, you have to hurry and checkout because again, DOLLAR TREE'S rules, not OURS.
We will get written up and even terminated if we are ringing up customers passed closing time. We are also not allowed to help customers off the clock because we'd get written up. ALL DOLLAR TREE RULES. I wish customers would understand that the employees don’t own the stores. We are just working there. Thank the Lord I am moving on from this piece of ** company. Great place to shop, horrible place to work.

Okay, so I am employed by Dollar Tree. I have been there as a rehire since September. I make minimum wage and same as whoever they just hire. When you ask for a raise, they tell you that when minimum wage went up that was your raise. Also, they only want to give the stockers 5 to 10 hours a week. They always push you to make miracles happen and always looking over your shoulder. They push to make sales so they can get more hours and commission off over sales which they don’t give the extra hours to stockers - they give them to cashiers or management.
I recently said I wanted to step up to AM. They pretty much told me they don’t want to move me up because I’m good at my department. That is just plain craziness in my book. They also tell me the company above the management doesn't care about its workers; that’s why they won’t pay us more. They say if we won’t do it for the pay, someone else will. This company makes enough money to pay its employees more.

I worked for Dollar Tree as a freight manager here in Bullhead for a year. The manager, **, is very rude. No matter what we accomplished, he would come in and yell at us for what wasn't done. I asked him for one weekend off to see my kids who were coming into town (who I hadn't seen in 8 months). He told me no because he wanted to spend time with his kids who he sees every day. I quit because for the first time in a year, he couldn't get a hold of me to come in early. He yelled at me in the middle of the store for not having a cell phone. I cannot afford a cell phone. I support my husband who has a history of cancer which he was well aware of. He yelled at me in front of all the customers. How embarrassing.
A ** who works there now has been put through hell by **. In the last 3 months, she has lost her mother, and two grandmothers. She has yet to get her grievance pay from her mother passing and ** told her she could not take her vacation time to see her dying grandmother because his in-laws lost their house to a tornado and he wanted the time off. He is a very selfish manager and a horrible one at that! **, who is the GM, is good friends with him and nothing has been done. I would like to see some action here. If not, I, along with others, will put together a nationwide protest on how Dollar Tree treats their employees.
This cannot continue and needs to be investigated. Please contact me at any time for further information, and I can also have a lot of previous and current employees verify this claim and many more. Not to mention the fact that when I was there, I had to work during my breaks and lunches! Something needs to be done with your policies which are bad enough, but to work for someone like **, is like working for the devil himself. Please contact me for more information or I will be forced to go to higher measures to either get this man to face up to his selfish decisions or hurt Dollar Tree nationwide.

I stopped at Dollar Tree in Temecula today to shop for Mother's Day cards and other things. I asked a store employee if they had gift bags for Mother's Day and he said, "No we don't. The only gift bags are at the back of the store."
As I was shopping, I saw a customer with a Mother's Day gift bag. I asked her where she had found the bag and she told me she found the bag at the front of the store. I went to the front of the store and sure enough, there were more Mother's Day gift bags. I grabbed two gift bags and I saw the employee from earlier and I told him, "I thought you said there were no Mother's Day gift bags?" He said "I didn't put them there." I told him, "It doesn't matter if you didn't put them there. You should know what you have in this store."
I went to the check out, wrote a check and Dylan, the sales associate, said my check didn't go through. So he called the manager, who turned out to be the employee who I had asked about the gift bags earlier, and his name is Blake. Blake came over and tried to print the check and said, "I can't accept this check." I said, "Why not?" And he said, "The register is not reading the check and I can't accept it." I told Blake that it's a good check and he said, "There's nothing I can do about it. I can't take your check."
He gave me back my check and made me feel like I was trying to write a bad check. He didn't try to do anything to run the check through the register. It seemed like he was mad of what I told him earlier, that he should know what is in stock.

Several of us showed these employees our phones all were in sync and showed that they indeed closed early; not okay with busy parents who are trying to complete projects and make a concerted effort to get to the store before the designated close time. These employees need to know that they must not take matters into their own hands, close the store early to get off earlier and significantly inconvenience customers. Employee, Vickie, also said a manager was not present that evening. I will make certain to show the manager this formal written complaint filed next time I am in the store.

I was at Dollar Tree store # 3224 in Las Vegas, NV at around 10am on the morning of February 15th, 2013. I had stopped in to pick up a couple of kitchen cleaning items (sponges, etc.), and just to note that I've been shopping at that particular Dollar Tree for several months and there has only been one time that I've ever been greeted when entering the store. Since the policy about no bags, backpacks, etc. has been in effect, it's always been just "Excuse me, you have to leave your purse at the door." As with every time I've visited this Dollar Tree location, there was one cashier and the rest of the employees were stocking the shelves, and as I understand the need to prevent theft as much as possible, I believe that a greeting before being told you have to leave your bag/purse at the door is a part of general customer service.
In the checkout line, there was a young lady who inquired about why the cashier had been so rude when she was told she had to leave her bag at the door. The cashier who was perhaps having a bad morning rolled her eyes and defensively replied, "I asked you nicely!" The situation turned very ugly in a matter of seconds. This young lady was already unhappy and again, she told the cashier that she had indeed been rude (and for no reason). The cashier then replied with, "Yeah? So are you!" I don't think I am mistaken when I say that was and is the absolute worst thing to do in a situation like that when an already unhappy customer is not only disregarded but provoked. That's customer service!? Needless to say, the young lady left the store very angry and in tears. The cashier then starts laughing about it to the customer in front of me. The manager (whose office is located at the front of the store and was in there the whole time) then decided to come out and intervene, asking the other customers (including myself) what had happened. Good grief! Where on earth did this woman learn her management skills?
Furthermore, why didn't she come out and intervene while the situation was taking place? To display even more despicable behavior, the cashier and the manager stood at the register staring at the young lady (who was at least halfway across the parking lot) and observing that she was talking on her cell phone. The manager then made a sarcastic remark of "Oh, I hope she calls the police!" The woman who has zero clue about customer service and acts like a 12-year-old petulant child is the manager of this store?! Not to mention the employee/cashier's behavior before and during the whole incident, laughing about it when it is no way, shape or form the least bit amusing. I was there to witness the entire incident and I heard everything that was said by the manager and her employee as well. Yet, when I called the store later that day to make a formal complaint about the awful and unprofessional way everything was handled, the manager changed her story completely! She also told me that her poor cashier was in her office crying; somehow, I seriously doubt that.
To make a long story short, the manager ended up getting defensive when I didn't support her opinion that the cashier did nothing wrong, snapped "Well, you're entitled to your opinion" and hung up on me. Very true, I am indeed entitled to my opinion and I've been very clear in stating it. I could care less if anyone else agrees with me, that was handled 100% wrong! Due to the fact that these are the kind of people Dollar Tree hires to manage and represent their business, it's very safe to say that I won't be shopping there anymore. In closing, perhaps if the notification stating that no bags, etc. are allowed into the store was on the front door entrance instead of the upper, right hand corner of the front window, the cashiers wouldn't be required to inform everyone of this policy when they enter the store.

Recently at the Dollar Tree store in Sunnyvale, CA (there is only one so I see no reason to list a store number), my two sons (ages 14 and 10) were doing some quick shopping. We were walking down the toy aisle, which was surprisingly clean, when one female voice came over the loudspeaker and made the following announcement: "When shopping in the Dollar Tree, please keep your children with you at all times. Children should not be left unattended nor should they be allowed to run up and down the aisles. Children should not be allowed to pick up a toy unless you plan on purchasing the toy." Now I understand and completely agree with the first two rules, but was flabbergasted by the last.
When I go into a store, I like to be able to pick up an item and examine it before I decide to purchase it. If I decide not to, I put it back where it belongs. I also teach my children to do the same thing. Asking that the toys be put back in their proper places would have been a better way to word this.

I visited this Dollar tree store (#4712) at Eastland Center Dr, West Covina, where I purchased some items that included frozen vegetables and a frozen bag of cuts potatoes. When I went home, I found out that both bags are ripped. Right away I drove back to the store and asked for the manager. I showed the bags, trying to explain to him how dangerous could that be if I didn't pay attention and eat this damaged food. What could have happened to me? When I asked him for my money back, he said, "Just pick two items from the store to exchange because we don't refund." I told him I did not need anything from this store anymore, so just return my money back. He kept saying that he cannot refund any money. At this point, I felt absurd and left the store telling him that he can keep the items too because I don't want to use them and end up at the hospital.

This toy chest shield has a rather long string attached that goes over the child's head and is around the neck, and if it gets twisted during play can choke/strangle small children. My grandson is 4 years old and had one on and it became twisted while playing with it on, and he was unable to untwist it because it became so tight around his throat/neck. He was being strangled and could not breathe. I thank God that he was smart enough to walk to the door from the back play yard to get help because had he been a smaller or younger baby, he may have passed out there on the grass. My grandson came to the door and was turning blue and could only gag to get someone's attention as he grabbed his neck where the string was cutting off his airway. Please get this toy out of stores before it causes death in a child or baby that cannot get to help in time. Please, please, please, for the safety of our children.
