We purchased our wedding rings from Blue Nile in 2013. It was a great experience. In 2024, we did a diamond upgrade which not only was another great experience, but the staff was incredibly helpful, communicative and knowledgeable during the entire process. We did end up updating the original floating diamond band to the newer version and went with platinum. I could not be happier with my ring and my Blue Nile experience. I would highly recomend a Blue Nile engagement ring. For reference, we upgraded to a Marquise diamond 3.26ct colour D clarity VS1 with the new version the the Floating Diamond Band in platinum.

We received a poor quality ring where a stone fell out in less than 8 months of occasional use. We spent almost $4k. We were reassured that Blue Nile stands by quality and will rectify the issue when received. We paid and insured the ring, sending it in for evaluation/repair. Even though blue Nile agreed it was just normal use, they insisted we must pay for the repair bc they recommend we should have been having someone look at the ring every six months to check it (news to us?) they recommend using blue Nile to repair due to their high quality repair process. We pay for the repair. Blue Nile replaces the stone but also adds extra metal around it that sticks out/snags on material. It doesn’t match the rest of the ring. We send pictures and blue Nile agrees to repair the issue. We received the ring back in the exact same condition/metal sticking out. There was no repair done. Customer service says they’ve done all they can.

We ask to receive replacement ring since they can’t seem to fix the issue. They refuse. This issue has been going on since March. I’ve now not had a proper ring nearly as long as I had it before the stone fell out. We are so disappointed as we had several blue Nile pieces before. I learned they were acquired by a different company in 2022 so apparently service and quality has gone way downhill.

Purchased a birthday gift on Blue Nile online. I asked Bluenile for a pick up location. They advised an address close to me in Las Vegas. The address was wrong. The package could not be delivered. I spoke to Bluenile and they simply suggested cancelling the order. This gift was intended for a special occasion. No matter whom I spoke with at Blue Nile and UPS.. The only party to change the ship to address was the vendor and only then did I realize that Blue Nile was not the supplier. They are middlemen and as a result had no capability nor desire to assist in simply redirecting the shipment. As a result I did not get the package, could not give a gift as intended and in the end a real disappointment. Don’t trust Bluenile to assist when needed most.

Blue Nile customer service I think has the best customer service of any company I’ve ever worked with. They are so fair with their prices. They have 24/7 availability, and they do what’s right by the customer to help them as much as they can. I upgraded my original engagement ring through their upgrade program. Ann A. Helped me every step of the way and emailed me a beautiful diamond that was a larger carat and better quality for the price than what I chose initially for the upgrade. It was perfect. On top of that since my original engagement ring was soldered to my band I really wanted my band back to wear with my new ring since it was the band I was married with.

Blue Nile unsoldered my wedding band with no damage to it. It came back cleaned and shiny and looked brand new. I thought they initially just gave me a brand new identical band! Their craftsmanship is THAT good. I was so impressed that I went and bought another band during their anniversary sale that’s in the mail now to stack with original band and my new engagement ring. I’m absolutely in love with my purchase and will not purchase anywhere else other than Blue Nile. I now own 3 rings from them and cannot wait to use my original engagement ring to put my son's birthstone in it and wear on my right hand.

Nice pendant, arrived in relatively short time. However, the import process became really cumbersome after the hub in Dublin closed: customs require paperwork and make questions that a common customer is not usually prepared to answer. Blue Nile offers all the needed documentation in advance for diamonds import, but nonetheless, it is a complicated process and the shipper (UPS) is not helpful at all.

My only wish is that I wish Blue Nile would be a little bit more explicit about which items they do overnight shipping for. We waited to purchase longer than we should’ve because we thought we would get free overnight shipping. It turned out we could not get it, so we had to wait to get it until after our marriage and purchased a temporary band for my husband elsewhere.

I asked if BN could do that and I was told no that the pendant I ordered comes with the chain as a part of the “structure” and BN is unable to switch the chain. I do understand the type pendant I ordered has a secured chain. Unfortunately that type pendant only has that same chain on BN website. The diamond is beautiful but I’m terribly disappointed in the chain and in customer service

Buyer beware. Lab grown diamonds look amazing but are not desirable in the secondary market. Some companies won't consider purchasing unless they are a certain weight. Mind you I paid $5k for the setting alone, with two mined baguette diamonds totaling.48 carats. Super disappointed with how the "oh well" good luck was handled from initial conversation with another person. Mind you original salesperson showed sympathy and was kind when I went back.

Updated on 08/05/2024: Blue Nile reached out for my order number to look into the incident further. Never heard back from them again. I took my ring to another jeweler and they were able to resize it in 5 days. Stay away from this company.

Original Review: My experience with Blue Nile has been incredibly disappointing and frustrating. I sent my wedding ring to them for resizing with the expectation that it would take 4-6 weeks, but it ended up being almost 8 weeks later and there was still no resolution in sight. What's worse, whenever I tried to inquire about the status, I was met with dismissive responses from customer service. On top of that, I was frequently hung up on during calls.

Given these experiences, I made the difficult decision to request my ring be returned to me without the resizing completed. The lack of professionalism and poor communication from Blue Nile left me with serious doubts about their ability to handle such an important and sentimental piece of jewelry. It's honestly shocking to me how they manage to stay in business with such subpar customer service. If you're considering using Blue Nile for any jewelry services, I would strongly advise you to think twice and perhaps explore other options where customer service and reliability are more consistent and trustworthy.

I have purchased 4 rings from Blue Nile. 1 engagement ring, and three wedding bands. Two for my wife, and we got mine from there as well. We were very happy with the rings, the quality and the price. The part where things went south is when it comes time to get them cleaned and checked out. We overnight her ring to Blue Nile with insurance for them to clean and inspect it to make sure it is still in a good setting and nothing is coming loose. This is a free service, and it very well should be. They say that it takes 4-6 weeks to complete this and then send it back to you, which is a lie. We have send her ring off a total of 3 times now, and it is usually 6-9 weeks to get it back!! With it taking that long, every 6 months like it is recommended, that's over 16 weeks- 4 MONTHS out of the year that Blue Nile has your ring and not you.

On top of that, customer service is horrible if you call and try to check on the progress of it, so you don't even know how things are going or if they've lost the ring. Fine process buying the ring, but terrible after that. Would definitely not buy from them again. Much better off going to a retail store you can walk into and deal with somebody.

My engagement ring has a broken prong on the platinum head. This ring was rarely worn, and definitely not damaged, which leads me to believe it was an original materials or manufacturing defect on Blue Nile's part. I was quoted 3-5 weeks for the repair. It has now been 4 weeks, and I asked for a status. They told me it will now be 4-6 weeks "or maybe longer". I also asked how the repair is being done (replacing the head or ...?), and have received no answer at all. Any jewelry store would explain the planned repair in advance, then do the repair, then explain any differences from their plan. But Blue Nile feels it is acceptable to give no answer at all for a defect on the expensive ring I purchased from them??

I'm still waiting for answers on repair status, when I'll get the ring back, and the specifics of the repair. Based on their haughty stonewalling so far, I will most likely never get the answers. AVOID any transaction with Blue Nile involving a repair, resize, etc. Why doesn't the extremely negative reputation that they're getting matter to them? Baffling. I have made numerous purchases from them over the course of 15 years, but my loyalty to them has made no difference in the shabby treatment I've received.

I sent it in to get fixed and resized. Took about a month or more. I got the ring back and they resized it but didn’t fix the setting. I had to send it back to them to fix it like they should have in the first place, and I had to convince them to give me a free shipping label to do it. It took another month or so to get my ring back. Now I just found out that there’s a crack in the band. And my wedding is in August and I don’t trust that I’ll get the ring back in time. I’m just so sad that I’ll be spending the majority of my engagement without my engagement ring. I find it ridiculous that they require paying $30 for shipping rings that are under lifetime warranty and that they take so long even when they’re not even doing what was asked.

I recently had the misfortune of attempting to purchase an engagement ring from Blue Nile Jewellery, and it was an absolute debacle from start to finish. What should have been an exciting and joyous experience quickly devolved into a stressful and frustrating ordeal. The problems began immediately after placing my order. Blue Nile repeatedly pushed back the shipping date, initially by just one day at a time for a full six days past the original promised date. Just when I thought the delays couldn't get any worse, they then unceremoniously pushed the shipping date out by two full weeks without any satisfactory explanation. Throughout this painful process, Blue Nile's customer service was utterly abysmal.

The representatives I spoke with were unhelpful, providing only vague non-answers about the status of my order. They showed zero sense of urgency or concern about the escalating delays. Worse yet, they failed to exhibit even an ounce of politeness or apologetic sentiment for the situation they had put me in. With the pivotal moment of my proposal plans being completely derailed by Blue Nile's incompetence, I had no choice but to cancel my order and take my business elsewhere. The entire experience left me feeling disrespected as a customer and utterly lacking in confidence about Blue Nile's ability to deliver such a meaningful purchase on time. Do yourself a favor and avoid the headaches and disappointment I endured. There are plenty of other reputable jewelers who actually value their customers and can handle such a special once-in-a-lifetime purchase properly. Blue Nile, however, gets a hard pass from me after this horrific experience.

Stay FAR away from Blue Nile, they’re the absolute worst company to deal with and nothing but con artists and rip offs. I purchased a diamond on 05/18 and have documented proof they had the diamond and confirmed with me that it was in production and fully paid for. But on 05/21 they emailed me and said the diamond is not available and they “hand selected” me 3 other diamonds to choose from instead. All 3 diamonds they offered were of horrible quality compared to the one I was SUPPOSED to of received. They were also more expensive versus value/quality of the one I tried to purchase initially. This is the old “bait & switch” tactic this company uses. I had already purchased a diamond but they mysteriously don’t have it but want me to purchase a lesser quality borderline trash diamond for the same price or even higher than the exquisite diamond I initially tried purchasing.

I gave customer service the chance to make things right and they were absolutely horrible to deal with, they took no accountability and didn’t care at all that they had ruined my plans for proposing to my girlfriend. This company is appalling and very deceptive. I STILL haven’t received any refund and I’m considering legal action. I hope everyone that Blue Nile has ripped off files suit and sues them into bankruptcy. That is the least they deserve.

Extremely disappointed. My partner spent a lot of money to purchase a high quality ring from Blue Nile. The ring is beautiful. The customer service is not. I needed to have my ring resized. I waited for their sizing tool to come in the mail. It told me a 6.25, my jeweler also told me 6.25. I had to wait 6 weeks to get the ring back. That's really tough after getting engaged and wanting to enjoy the ring during engagement. When I got the ring back, it was like nothing had changed at all. The ring still slips right off my finger. They will not let you bring it to a local jeweler or it will void your warranty. That means you have to send it back for another 6 week waiting period. I contacted them today via phone and was hung up on and then decided to use chat to avoid connection issues. They instructed me I will need to pay $30 for a return shipping fee (for their error). I asked to speak to a manager and they told me it would take 48-72 hours.

Every time I try to get information, I have to chase them and dig for any details. Even after dozens of communications, they still cannot give me a firm status of the ring - they extended and delayed the shipping date several times already, and with the latest delay expected ship date come and gone, there is still no delivery. Referred this initially to the Better Business Bureau and State Attorney's General - but now will have my attorney file suit in Superior Court in my State and require litigation to get them to finally deliver.

The item is on its way. I ended up finding someone named Danielle who was able to sympathize and take action. I spoke with her on the 17th and it was being shipped on the 18th to be here only one day late. I truly appreciate the resolution she provided. I am not ranking higher because the company has a lot of communication issues and fails to followup when stated there would be follow up. I still have yet to see the ring but I am guessing it will be what I ordered and my wife will like it.

    Original Review: April 18, 2024

I used to work at GIA under the education side not the laboratory. I was told to always buy Blue Nile. Well I did, and I would not welcome this on my worst enemy. I ordered my 10 yr anniversary present for my wife which had me pick a stone and a setting. I placed my order on 3.27 and had an expected shipping of 4/8 (celebration is on the 18th). The 8th came and went so I engaged with them on the 10th because it kept getting pushed out. They said it was an issue found in quality assurance, so it would go back to the jeweler and two days fix. They said they would follow up and didn't, I did, then was told it has not been touched by the jeweler but they would email again and follow up. Nothing, so I email again asking for updates on the 17th.

I get an email on the 17th asking if they I wanted the ring shipped with the bent prongs or if I could wait. So it was a simple prong fix that has now taken 10 days to do nothing with and I am being asked if I want a garbage unfinished ring; no. Finally spoke to someone on the phone and I am probably not getting this ring until closer to the 1st of May!!! I ordered on the 27th of March. So do not buy from them if you have a celebration, special date, or anything with a timeline... You can even give them a 10 day buffer and still get the ring almost a month later.

I still DO NOT have the ring, I am waiting for follow-up and who knows if that will happen; I guess the next time I call I might get helped or told it will take longer. This is just a 1.6 carat emerald in a basic setting for context, nothing custom and the problem was a bent prong. I might never open it and return it out of principle; I don't even think I can look at the ring, it what was supposed to be a special gift that is now tainted with the thought of BlueNile hell that I am currently living and still without a ring. Today is the 18th (10 years with my wife) and since I still do not have the ring or an expected ship date, I felt I should give this fair review.

Bought my now fiancé a 1 carat natural diamond engagement ring with platinum band from Blue Nile. It is beautiful. Sparkles like crazy, She and everyone loves it. Customer service was so kind and attentive (why wouldn’t they be, they were still trying to lock in the deal). Then the diamond fell out and was lost. I was told by the same customer service politely but firmly that there’s nothing we can do for you, but check with your homeowners insurance. They also wanted me to send the ring back to New York so they can inspect it and I assume confirm that we did something to cause the setting to fail. We’re in our mid 50’s and live a pretty gentle lifestyle for a ring to survive in. Rings are handed down through generations so diamonds don’t just fall out. Luckily with the help of an led flashlight I found the diamond in the carpet. I won’t send it back to blue Nile to repair. I’m taking it to a quality local jewelry shop to get it done right.

This ring is less than 6 months old and to me very expensive. When I called to report loss of diamond the girl suggested maybe we snagged it on a blanket, like covering up with a blanket on the couch to watch tv is a no-no with a ring on. They didn’t even hint that there was one iota of responsibility on their part. I was angry and shocked. I cannot recommend them due to my experience but if you do purchase a ring from Blue Nile, it may be beautiful but get it insured and if there is a problem don’t expect the same exceptional customer service you got when they were still trying to get your money, because they will not help you or back up their products.

Then after only having the ring for three years it has cracked. There was a lifetime guarantee when I bought the band and free repairs. Blue Nile is unable to honor either of those commitments. I am severely disappointed in their customer service and the quality of the ring. I purchased from Blue Nile a 2 carat diamond anniversary ring about 1 year ago. About a month ago I noticed that one of the diamonds had a rough spot and a prong seemed loose. Not sure how long it had been like that as I don’t wear the ring every day. I contacted customer service and was told that I needed to send the ring back to them for inspection and that if I took it to any other jeweler it would void my warranty. They also informed me that I was responsible for the shipping and insurance which was ~$100.

Three weeks later I received an email asking if the ring was insured, I replied but received no further response from customer service despite multiple emails and a voice mail to the person sending the email. Several days later I called the main customer service number and was told that there was a “ticket” and that the diamond was chipped and I was responsible for purchasing a new diamond to replace the damaged one. Then the new representative told me she would find a suitable replacement and contact me and follow up with a call. I did receive an email from her several days later, but no call. I replied to the email that I (regrettably) would authorize the Pritchard of the new diamond and asked a few questions. I never received a response from her (sent two emails and a call) regarding those questions or the purchase order that she was supposed to send.

Additionally, how does a ring that I don’t wear daily have these issues in a matter of months when my engagement ring that I do wear daily (and is decades old) and is larger and more exposed have no issues? Furthermore, Blue Nile should be ashamed of both its customer service and its poor quality product. There is a reason why they are less expensive than many others… lack of quality. Bottom line spend a little more and use a reputable jeweler

We drove 2 hours to the store to pick a setting and wedding band to go with the solitaire. They didn't have anything I was interested in in the store, such a let down. Also, you can't buy anything from the store; they're all just samples with cubic zirconias. So, we had to place an order there at the store for what we wanted.

The associates told us the solitaire and the ring guard would "lock together" once they were both the same size, 6.75. They also said it would take 2 weeks and would be completely returnable/refundable if we weren't happy.... 4 weeks later we finally received the rings and they were 2 different sizes and didn't "lock" together as promised. They told us that now the solitaire was not returnable since the 30 day window had passed (a 4 week turn around guaranteed that).

Additionally, they were recently bought out by Signet, a huge jewelry company. I will NEVER spend another penny with this company.

I purchased a loose diamond from Blue Nile, I contacted their team twice via phone to confirm the diamond pricing, quality, and availability. I was transferred to their "Diamond Expert" who confirmed all items about the diamond. I asked him if a bank wire would be the best payment method and he agreed and said he would send me an email with the payment details. He sent the link, but it was for a credit card purchase only, no bank wire as discussed, no big deal, so proceeded with payment. Three days later my payment was approved and my order was in fulfillment - I ordered a band for the diamond from another website. I get a message from Geneva ** from Blue Nile who stated they could not honor the diamond price and if I wanted the diamond would have to pay 3 times more! This is after confirming the pricing over the phone before paying with their "Diamond Expert."

Once my blood stopped boiling as I had ordered a band, etc. I cooled down and selected another diamond - Geneva stated she would give me a discounted price for the inconvenience and get back to me. A few days later my card is charged for the original diamond price and a request for another $6,000.00 for the replacement diamond I had inquired about. I simply asked about the pricing of the other diamond and was charged not only the payment for the diamond they could not honor but an additional 6 grand on top without any communication from Blue Nile staff. Fed up, finally said I would like my payment returned and will go elsewhere - worst experience, go elsewhere!

Now it is three years later and we decided to upgrade the engagement diamond to a much larger one - same band, same shape of diamond. Blue Nile upgraded the diamond and sent back a beautiful ring but with TOO small of a band. Ok, fine, no problem, free returns within 30 days, so we immediately sent it back to get resized. They said that it could take anywhere from 5-15 days for resizing. Ok, fine. I can wait a couple weeks. NOW it is almost 9 (NINE) weeks later and I STILL do not have my ring. I do the IM chat on their website every week and am told "the designer is still working on it." I'm so disappointed. One week would be fine, but two months is toooo much.

That was fine as I gave myself a 2-week leeway. Once again got an email saying the ring was delayed a second time. I contacted customer support the day after and they stated the setting and diamond have both arrived and should be delivered by the following day. The following day happens, contact customer support and now this person says my ring won't be ready for my trip which is when I was planning on proposing.

We took the ring to the show room where we purchased the ring. After looking at the ring Blue Nile determined the damage was normal wear and tear. And was not covered by warranty. The ring was in a condition that no one would wear two weeks after the wedding. If wanted to keep the ring we would need to pay for the repair. Or wear with the broken inlay.

Guess what, I received an email from Blue Nile around 4pm today that says the estimated delivery date is tomorrow.

They are driving me crazy! I can not stay home all the time just for the ring! People have things to do!! I contacted the online chat service and they answered the questions just like robots. It's a ring valued at more than $10k and this is how Blue Nile treats their customers, they really should pay more attention to their delivery system. This is not acceptable and unprofessional as a jewelry company, I won't buy anything from them anymore.

Updated on 09/04/2023: We ordered a ring on July 30th 2023. It took one week for us to receive it. We received it on August 7th and returned it immediately. Blue Nile received it on August 9th, 2023 and approved for a refund the same day. As of today, September 4th, 2023 we still have not received a refund. I have called Blue Nile several times. At this point they are refusing to give me a refund. I have a dispute with my credit card company and still no one from Blue Nile has reached out to resolve this issue. Neither the original Blue Nile in Seattle or the new company headquarters in New York have reached out to me. We want our money returned. It is unacceptable that it has taken this long for them to initiate a return, especially since they have never once communicated with me to update the status.

Original Review: I’ve ordered from Blue Nile since 2001. Now it is beyond terrible. Definitely NOT the same company. Buyer beware. We ordered a ring Sunday that was on sale. They changed us the regular price. My husband called them every day and they still DID NOT change the price. The ring arrived today and we promptly called the company to return it. It it took one week for the ring to arrive. They use to overnight or deliver within 2 days. They just changed their website and it is terrible. They no longer show the GIA certificate and it’s changed drastically for the worse. The jewelry is very expensive now. They have lost a 20 year customer! In addition the ring arrived in a cheap box with bubble wrap. They use to send a nice presentation box. I guess when they sold the company everything went downhill.

Ordered ring size 9.5 (based on their plastic ring sizer) and received a ring sized 8. Then call customer service. Given that wedding day is in 3 weeks, I am recommended to order a new ring, and that I should not be worried given that, if new ring doesn't fit, Blue Nile can always send a new ring "overnight". Turns out "overnight" means it takes 7 days to build the new ring, so in reality it's ~ 2 weeks to deliver, which would mean I would not be able to get the new ring in time for the wedding. This is a very misleading statement by "Customer Relations Specialist" agent "Catherine **". The agent clearly understands the nature of my concern (I might not get ring for the wedding), and outright lies above the "overnight" shipping to make me walk away. When asked about a supervisor, said she is the only person I can talk to to file a complaint.

I was worried that it was too large (my fiancee kept on going back & forth about what size she was) but I was assured that Blue Nile will resize once for free, even if past the 30-day return window. I proposed, she said yes, it was too large. We were told we could stop by the store to send it in for a free resize, which we did.

I received an email stating my ring was not re-sizeable and I would have to purchase a new setting (they offered to give me $200 off of a $2,000 setting), because I was outside the 30-day return window. Not even close to what I was originally told in person and via email ("Downsizing/re-sizing for your ring is no problem and is free."). After many emails, calls, arguments proving my case, Blue Nile finally agreed to provide me with a new setting free of charge. It has now been > 6 weeks without our ring. Don't trust this company to do the right thing. Don't rely on them to ship things on time or tell you when it will actually be delivered. If you want a ring on time use one of their competitors or whomever they are sourcing the rings from to begin with and cut out the middle-person. I bought a beautiful diamond bracelet for my wife and on day one it showed up with a loose clasp. No big deal. It still worked and was fine. But recently one of the links broke. When I contacted customer service they approved the request but was very clear I'd be responsible to pay for certain damaged. A yellow flag already. This is a clear defect so no worries there. But they require the customer to pay to ship the item back. So the "lifetime" warranty has some catches. So I proceed to get the label and it says it costs $50 to ship back. That is pretty pricey. So I informed them I'd have a local jeweler look at it as I'd hate to pay $50 to ship the bracelet in for a $10 repair.

They immediately told me if I did this it 100% voids the warranty. This is totally shady. Kay for example actually gave my wife's engagement ring their lifetime warranty because it was soldered to the wedding band I bought from Kay. A few diamonds fell out not long ago and Kay replaced them. No questions asked. The moral here is that if you want quality you can count on and want a true warranty DO NOT buy from Blue Nile. Stick to your local jeweler or the true national brands that actually care about their customers. All of this over a $50 shipping label. Again avoid.

"Buyer Beware." This is Comenity Capital Bank's repulsive act to nickel and dime good customers for others who cannot pay their bills on time during a world crisis. I purchased jewelry twice from Blue Nile over the past two years for a total of $7,020. Comenity Bank is the credit card company Blue Nile uses for credit purchases. Both purchases were paid off in full. However, every time I paid off the balance, the bank would charge me additional interest charges unbeknownst to me. A month or two would go by when I'm thinking the balance is paid and meanwhile, I have a interest balance for the amounts of $2, $4, etc that is accruing late fees of $27.00 monthly and more interest charges accruing on late fees.

I've never been late with my payments. I have impeccable credit which has now been ruined by this bank for interest fees charged on $4.65 which totaled $127 in late fees as of June. Those late fees charged were reported to the Credit Bureaus. My credit score decreased 69 points due to this. This is a atrocity by a bank to charge these amount of fees on a $4.65 interest charge when the customer has paid off their balance in full twice. Not to mention, the balances were paid during a pandemic. During a time such as this it is hard to build and maintain credit. I have been responsible with paying my bills on time for years. To now be penalized 69 points on my credit for "Pennies" owed on this account.

My hubby and I ordered a sapphire and diamond half-eternity band for our 10 year anniversary. I wear a 6, but ordered a 6.5 because Blue Nile's sizer said so. I had read reviews that said to stick to their sizing, so I did. The price was good and my ring arrived 2 days later. It was absolutely beautiful. I was pleased with the craftsmanship and packaging. But, it was too big - I needed my normal 6. I did a chat with the customer service person, who told me that it would be 4 days after they received my ring and they would overnight a new ring in a size 6. Great. He took care of getting me the return label and ordering the new ring.

10 days later and I hadn't received a shipping confirmation for the new ring, even though the tracking said they had received it 5 days prior. Another chat with customer service (2 hours) and they said it would take 15 days. I asked why it would take so long and they would not answer me, no matter how many times I asked. It occurred to me that the only reason it would take so long is if they were resizing it, not sending me a new one. I asked the agent directly and he would not answer me.

Hubby calls Blue Nile the next day. After he pushes them, they tell him that they don't actually keep half sizes - in any ring - in stock, so when we ordered my ring originally, they just upsized a 6 and sent it to me. And I was correct that the exchange was taking so long because they were re-sizing it - back down to the 6! So now, my brand new ring, which I have never worn and which we paid $1800 for, has been tampered with twice, completely without my knowledge. Any time you change the size of a ring, you mess with the integrity of the metal and can make it weaker. An eternity band is even harder because, once shade smaller, the stones would be set further down your finger on each side, thus scratching up the sides of your fingers (which is precisely why I wanted a half band and not a full band to begin with!). So, there are a few issues I have with all of this:

    1) Blue Nile does not disclose any of this information on the website. You are able to order half sizes as though they are in stock. But, they are just taking smaller or larger rings - whatever is available - and cutting them down or stretching the metal. If they don't have half sizes, they should list it as a custom sizing, so the purchaser is clear about what that means.

    2) Obviously, they need to correct their sizing issues. A 6 is a 6 is a 6. If I wear a 6 everywhere else, I should be a 6 with them. But, their sizer fitted me at a 6.5. So, I trusted them. This whole issue could have been avoided.

    3) The customer service person I talked when starting the exchange process should have been honest with me when I requested a new ring, that I would, in fact, be receiving the same ring, just re-sized.

    4) The same customer service person should have told me that it would take 4-5 days for my ring to reach them, 4-5 days to appraise the item, and 15 days to have the item re-sized, before being overnighted back to me. He either flat-out lied to me, or didn't know, which caused a lot of hassle for me.

    5) The second customer service person I talked to after my ring was sent back avoided me at every turn when I asked why it would take an additional 15 days to process. After all, if I received my original ring overnight, then surely, it wouldn't take 15 days (plus the 10 days I had already waited) to overnight a new ring. Even when confronted with the re-sizing scenario, he still wouldn't acknowledge it. And that's because he knew the practice would be unacceptable and was not permitted to disclose this information.

A friend suggested I just cancel the order entirely and reorder a new ring in my correct size. But, ultimately, I chose not to do that and we requested a refund. How would I know the ring they sent me hadn't already been tampered with? What if there had been some other issue that I would have to deal with? Blue Nile is not transparent about their inventory and sizing process on their website. They have customer service agents giving false information to placate customers or have them completely avoid answering direct questions that can get them in trouble. And most importantly, they were willing to sell me an $1800 ring whose integrity had already been compromised twice. The craftsmanship of my ring was lovely - truly beautiful. But, I can't do business with a company who has questionable ethics.

I bought a round diamond with a platinum classic mount. So, the moment came, and everything was perfect. She was very happy, and I felt very proud of the ring I got her. Well not quite, we were spending sometime together when she was looking deeper inside the ring reading the engrave I ordered with the ring. She got surprised that inside the ring there was a 14k engrave also. "14K GOLD!!! She told me that her ring was not the ring I got for her. That was really embarrassing, and I actually felt scammed. So, I called them to put my complain. The customer care rep apologized, and I asked if they will make up that for me? She told me that I should not worry because they will fix that, and make it up for me.

Okay, the ring came 45 days after, and I called to know what was the deal they will offer me to make it up for me? Blue Nile customer care rep told me they could only refund what I paid for the engrave I ordered. About $30. Not a formal apology to her, nor a coupon for the wedding rings, nor nothing that will make us feel that we weren't intentionally screwed. At no point did I receive a 'payoff statement' with date I needed to pay the engagement ring I purchased. I made double payments in October to pay off the ring as my fiancee and I called off the engagement and parted ways. I wanted her to be able to sell if she wanted to, free and clear. Therefore, I thought I was completed paid up before November 1st.

My statement said $0.00, and just this past week, I received an e-mail stating my "promotional APR had expired, and I owed $1077 (and change)". I wrote Blue Nile asking for an explanation; they said there was still $200 left on the promotional balance and the rest was finance charges backloaded from Day 1. I said there was no way I would pay all of it off with the exception of $200 to garner those additional charges when I had been up to date on all payments and even paid extra at the end. Back and forth, a customer service rep and I wrote through their e-mail system. Then, finally, they asked me to call in due to "extenuating circumstances".

I asked to speak to a supervisor after explaining my situation to this service rep. She said she didn't have one and that "there was nothing they could do". I showed I had already paid the final $200. They said it was "too late to do anything about it and no exceptions are made ever". So, in a pandemic, when a person was furloughed for half the year, who had their engagement called off and is now typing this at home as a positive COVID carrier now, Blue Nile can't even negotiate the total amount of finance charges assessed to someone who hadn't been late on any payments despite all of the aforementioned? Ridiculous cheats.

That's alarming. There are other jewelers out there where you won't have to go through something like this.

Now the ring will be delivered the day they leave. Ruined my whole proposal plans and they didn't care at all. Do not recommend. Also found basically the same ring/diamond combo for $500 less after purchase.

When a representative chatted with me she called me my brother's name. She argued with me that she sees my name in the chat box. She screen shot her chat box and it did indeed list my as my brother's name.

My brother's name is very rare, it’s impossible it was just computer mistake as they would tell me later. I asked my brother and he’s never even heard of the company. Maybe I was naive about privacy online even though their privacy statement states how seriously they take it. I don’t know of any other explanation than they look up my personal information, names of my family, and no telling what else. If you care about your families' privacy I would avoid this company.

Ok.., that's fine, But why was I told fake dates it would ship? Why not be honest? I had a 8 month prego lady at home and needed the ring quick! So I decided after the lies, I would cancel my order for a refund.. Well that was over 2 weeks ago, and they still haven't issued a refund, And I just got another email saying it could be another 14 days... So Blue Nile has had my money for nearly 2 months, And they are rude and impossible to deal with.

I finally just made a dispute with PAYPAL to try to get my money back.., Please DO NOT IGNORE THE WARNINGS. These guys are a terrible company to deal with, GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE. They will trick you into buying a great diamond, then tell you it won't be in for months, and try to get you to buy a inferior one instead for more money. After spending many months looking for the right diamond and setting, I found it on Blue Nile's website yesterday. I’d shopped many online jewelers in addition to local brick and mortar stores. Then yesterday I found the diamond I’d been looking for at a fair price. In fact, there were several (I’d say about 15 or so) new diamonds featured on Blue Nile that were of the size and quality that I was seeking. Exciting...right?

I spent the next 15-30 minutes going through the GIA reports and comparing diamonds to each other. I initiated an online chat with one of the Blue Nile representatives to verify some things and ask a few questions about specific concerns. Their representative reassured me and professionally answered my questions. So I was all set.

I filled out all of the information needed. I was a bit nervous even though I knew I’d found the right ring for my wife. While $10,000+ may not be a lot to some, it’s a big purchase for me. I completed the sale. I was very excited! Very shortly afterwards I received an email with my order confirmation and congratulations on my purchase. It was verified that my ring would be sent in two weeks since it was a custom piece. I was so happy! I began planning on how I’d give this beautiful ring to my wife.

Then several hours later, the REAL Blue Nile experience kicked in. I received another email telling me that the diamond I’d bought was, in fact, sold to someone else. While this “rarely happens” according to the email, my purchase would not happen in spite of the confirmation I’d received. My immediate thought was, if this rarely happens, why didn’t they have someone with some authority call me personally and apologize and try to rectify their mistake? Instead, I was directed to find another diamond. I was devastated! Of course all of the newly listed, less expensive diamonds, were sold or pulled off of their site. Instead, I could replace that perfect, to me at least, diamond with another that is inferior and more expensive.

So, I won’t be dealing with Blue Nile. I’m going to try to take this experience as a positive thing. If they treat their customers this way before the ring is sent, how poorly must they treat a customer who needs service or warranty work? The purpose of my review is to hopefully give others a heads up about the way that this company operates. I now know why so many poor reviews are online about Blue Nile. Buyer beware. Then go somewhere else to buy your jewelry.

My payment was due every month on the 20th and so I scheduled my last full payoff payment on the last month for my due date.

I received an email the following week stating that my payment was due. I logged in to check it out to make sure that was a mistake and saw my balance was $3,000! My "promotional period" apparently ended the 8th of the month and although my account didn't say anything about it when I logged in to do my payoff, I got hammered with the $3,000 back interest. I called customer service to get this straightened out thinking they would understand and they told me to go fly a kite. "Sorry you missed your date, there is nothing we can do about this." I scheduled my payment before the 8th and they still took advantage of me. Disgusting!

I was told that 30 days is the return/exchange policy with no exceptions but they would resize up to 1 size either way if possible at no charge, anything more than that there would be a fee or I would have to buy another ring. My follow up question was can the style of band "Comfort fit 4mm" be resized? The answer - a startling only ¼ size in either direction. They have nice diamonds, sure. But do you really want to do business with a company who dupes its customers? They're "interest-free" credit card is not a credit card. It's a loan. If you don't pay the full balance by the end of your term, they will charge you interest on the total amount throughout the term. The end of my term occurred over my wedding and honeymoon. I knew I was late but had more important things to worry about. I figured one month's worth of interest on $7500 isn't that much.

You can imagine my surprise when a $4400 interest charge appeared the next month. And that's when I discovered the fine print that the sales rep did not tell me about and is not found anywhere on their payment website. They put it on their statements. Really? Who reads actual statements these days? When I wrote to their CEO Jason Goldberger with some feedback on how nefarious this appears, I got a note back from the Sr. Director of customer relations who essentially said, "Sorry. You should have read the terms. Not our problem." If you're going to drop a bunch of money on an engagement ring, do it from a jewelry or another online diamond retailer. Blue Nile clearly does not care about their customers. Do you really want to make a purchase that big and important from a company and CEO like that?

My poor rating is in the final sale practice and financing sleight of hand they seem to perform. Blue Nile Credit card holds special offers that encourage buyers including 12, 18 and 24 mo. no interest APR. Of course, presuming you pay in full by the end of your term. I should note they at the time of this review still offer the sale! I paid diligently every month and even made double payments to ensure I would pay my balance in time. And after completing my tax return, prepared to pay off the remaining balance at the 12-month mark, ahead of the 18 months special I was given.

The same month I paid my balance off, they charged me over $1500.00 in interest, upon placing a claim of the incorrect charge I was told to wait for a decision they sent by regular mail. Upon receiving the letter about 3 weeks later, I discovered not only will they not honor the agreement, they charge me again for interest for the extra month, despite assurances from the representative they would not and did not notify me by electronic mail or their own “Secure Message center” given them time to charge me yet again another $80.

After closer examination of the Blue Nile credit card rules by my wife and I, we discovered, by only offering me $5k on the Blue Nile credit card, they effectively changed my sale. The two rings which came to well over 7K does not count. It is only the charge on the Blue Nile credit card. At the time of my Purchase, I had to pay the remaining balance with my own credit card, which I promptly paid the next month. However, by asking us to split this cost, they were able to claim I did not reach the amount needed for the 18-month 0% APR and only gave me 12-months.

I was not informed of this change by the sales associate nor was I given any warning of the promotion ending. The website does not give this information, you must download the statements to receive the last month warning. What is the point of going paperless if they cannot give you all the information. They did not send a reminder on their “Secure message center”. Had I been given this information, I could have paid off the balance. As a comparison, My Amex online statements give each promotional ending date on the website and paper statements, so there is no confusion.

As a final insult to injury, my wife and I had changed our ring design because the original beautiful Zac Posen ring I picked did not have a matching wedding band so we choose a more traditional band. We did not notice it before, but after our wedding we realized the wedding band does not fit properly with the engagement ring leaving a space instead of coming together like other engagement rings and wedding bands. I regret choosing this company and should have paid for the ring in full at the time. I choose not to as by choosing the finance option gave me more leeway instead of straining me with such a large cash payment at the time. Now I have overpaid for no reason other than being a good customer aka: a sucker.

I have bought a engagement ring for my wife an year ago, They offered me 0% APR for one year and then I was told I will have interest for after that. I usually get notifications about the pay on my Blue Nile account asking me to pay the installment. I have paid accordingly and after a year of paying 80% of the money. They charged me another 50% as interest since it was in their terms and conditions that if I did not pay full amount before one year I will have to pay all the accrued interest from the beginning. This is unlike another banking I have been using so far.

These kinds of companies should change the policy or should not even exist. Most of customers are unaware of this clause and although they said they printed it on the statement with red color. I had broken my engagement ring and needed to replace it. I had a budget of $35,000. I went to Blue Nile and found a princess cut stone that had an HD video of the actual diamond I would be buying. It looked amazing in the video. I also called Blue Nile and asked for expert help from a diamond expert. The diamond expert was very nice and said the stone I chose was outstanding and that I would love it! Since I had his support and since the HD video proved it was stunning, I paid nearly $25,000 for the ring and couldn't wait to receive it.

Well, it was awful! The band was so skinny and cheap. The diamond was gray and dull and ugly. It looked nothing like the HD video of it. It's been returned but before I sent it off, I bought a 2.01 carat round diamond solitaire set in a 6 prong platinum band from Costco for $17,999. It's literally so beautiful I can't stop looking at it. It is a smaller stone than the one from Blue Nile, but it cost $7000.00 less and again, is stunning!!

My advice: Shop where you can see the stone. Some places allow you to pick out the perfect ring and then you can see it at a local jeweler. It takes some time but those videos on websites are not accurate. They can't be. Also, two diamonds can have the exact same specs on paper and look completely different in person. Blue Nile has lost my business for good. I've attached a photo of both rings on my finger. You can see even with my cell phone camera, the round stone is beautiful and the square one from Blue Nile is dull and lifeless. I also attached a photo of the HD video of the stone from Blue Nile. I'm not sure if Consumer Affairs will add those photos but take a look if they do.

I have been a long-time customer of Blue Nile, and made many purchases from them. I love the jewelry, the prices are fair, and the customer service is usually good. However, I have received several pairs of earrings from them via FedEx, and when I open them, the earrings are bouncing around inside the package. That is not okay! I have informed Blue Nile of this problem in the past, but they have not fixed it, so apparently shipping jewelry that could be damaged in transit is not a problem for them. I'm only "going public" with this complaint because Blue Nile has not seen fit to fix the problem based on previous private complaints. That feels very disrespectful to me. Honestly, why should I as a customer have to inform Blue Nile of this problem? They have been in the mail-order jewelry business for ages, and should have fixed this problem on their own, ages ago. Maybe public embarrassment will work where private complaints and requests have not.

I'm so unhappy right now. So I ordered a 2 carat engagement ring from Blue Nile Financing that offered a 60 month payment plan. Everything went through with flying colors. I received order number and delivery date via email. So I start making plans and locking in dates. Then I get a call from Blue Nile saying that I don't have enough money on my account and I'm like, "What. You guys approved me I have the order number..."

My fiance spent tens of thousands of dollars on a platinum diamond engagement ring. After wearing it for less than 11 months, the platinum prong broke off and the diamond fell out. When we sent it back to Blue Nile, they refused to accept responsibility. They said that the prong broke off because my wedding band (which I had been wearing for only five months) had rubbed the platinum prong until it came off! I do not understand how a platinum wedding band, breaks off a platinum prong in 5 months! They DID NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR MERCHANDISE and made us pay for the repair. I will NEVER purchase anything from Blue Nile and I will warn everyone to take their business elsewhere. They should have stood behind their merchandise!

Placed an order online on 29th April 2017 for a loose diamond online and paid by credit card - Mastercard. Blue Nile offered -€100 for paying via bank transfer. However when ordering a Diamond online that you had never seen before from an overseas supplier with no prior inspection, it makes perfect sense to pay with a credit card to ensure that you have some form a consumer protection if something goes wrong.

The order was supposed to ship on 2nd May in time for an important date on 6th May. Received an arrogant phone call from a representative called David on the 1st May to demand a bank transfer to fulfill the order or the order would be canceled. No reason given - they would not accept any of my credit cards. Checked with my banks regarding credit cards and everything is in order. Blue Nile wasted my time when I had an important date set for 6th May - finding alternative supplier i.e. James Allen. Don't waste your time with this company - they offer online card payments facilities that they are not willing to accept - clearly want the cash to avoid having to honor the credit card reassurance.

Blue Nile has a great website and a storefront in Westchester. They make quality jewelry affordable and accessible. You can look at the jewelry online in the privacy of your home, then go and try on what you are interested in at the storefront. Salespeople are knowledgeable and helpful. To top it all off, they are offering discounts off their listed online prices. Doesn't get better than this. And what you order does not disappoint.

They treated me well and let me try on several pieces of jewelry before I bought what I wanted. They were helpful and not too pushy. The price was very reasonable. They had a ton for me to choose from. Several different choices of gemstones and precious metals to choose from. It was a lot of fun trying on different styles. I tried on some rings, a necklace, looked at earrings to go with the necklaces. It was great. It was a little pricey, but I felt it was worth it. They offered an easy payment plan for my purchase. They promised no blood diamonds, which was great. I think that is why the price was a little more, but still fair for what I bought. It was great. Done very well. My jewelry will last for years and years. I will be able to pass it on to my daughters and maybe they will pass it on to their daughters. Keeping it in the family as an heirloom.

They were very helpful when I was looking for a specific item. I was not sure where to find it and they assists me. I could not have made my purchase if it was not for the customer service rep. I was looking for a pair of diamond earring for my daughter's wedding. I wanted a hanging earring with a french back. The rep told me where to find them. They have a diamond shaped top for the french back and a diamond shape on the bottom. They were reasonably priced for the item. I had seen others similar but they were much too expensive for me. These were one hundred and fifty which was in my budget, but they look much more expensive. They are an excellent quality. The diamonds sparkle. They are in a silver setting which really makes them pop. I receive a lot of compliments whenever I wear them.

I have found that the customer service at this site to be very helpful. I had questions about the pearl bracelets I wanted to purchase, and their expertise helped me to decide which pieces to select. They have a wide-range of gemstone and diamond presets, as well as pearl sets, diamonds, and styles. They specialize in diamonds and wedding diamonds, but you'll be able to find the piece of your choice outside of wedding occasion for which you want the jewelry. The price ranges from moderate to very expensive, as they sell couture pieces and one of kinds. This is not a discount shop. If you shop, there, prepare to spend. The quality is stupendous. I purchased a mere $95 pearl bracelet and the quality is extraordinary. There is no junk here. Diamonds are certified.
